we do not have Scotty sheffler we do not have Rory Mary we do not have Xander shley but we do have AE batia H that’ll get the juices flowing Nick welcome everybody to tea time I’m Andy from wager talk.com being joined as always bye my fellow golf betting expert Nick Borman uh we do have the 313 though that is something that that we can all look forward to so let’s let’s try let’s try and get excited about a potential $313,000 prize we’ll go over that as well as total Strokes gain we’ll look at some outright winners finishing positions draft King Darlings and players that can trip you up so Nick we’re we’re to the part of the Season where we got a little bit of hole here where we’re just not going to see uh the big name guys here probably till we’ll see some of them at the Scottish open and um so uh what’s the mindset going into these these tournaments for me exercise caution this is not the time to throw out some some bigger bets and remember we don’t have to bet big on golf just because there’s a golf tournament so I will have a couple plays here there but it’s certainly not going to be a a huge betting week for me what about you what do you mean we don’t have to bet big because it’s golf we’re sick degenerate golf betters of course we have big no degenerates lose that’s is true all right maybe we’re not quite that bad but uh yeah I mean it’s it’s a little more difficult right now you got different uh different priorities for most people this is kind of that stretch where it’s it’s the guys ranked 50th and outside that this this matters right this is your key stretch to get into the playoffs get your card for next year right there’s a lot on the line for that mid-tier type player and what makes it I guess unattractive is maybe the right word for from a betting standpoint is yeah we’re used to seeing Scotty Sheffer obviously at 3 to1 four to one you know xanders and Rory’s and whatever at 10 to1 and 12 to1 and whatever but now we got Tom Kim at 12 to1 which I mean I guess rightfully so he played great last week and he’s Pro and he at least as far as golf rankings go he’s the best the field this week but I don’t know I don’t know about you Andy but I’m not going to bet time cam at 12 to1 it just not happening so as I approach these these kind of weeks I look at it like all right well who present good I guess guys in the mid- tier that might have a good week I doubt I’m G to play a lot of outrights because it’s kind of a crapshoot but you know who’s gonna be that guy that’s like hey you know he’s been showing some signs the last couple of months uh he’s on that tier he he needs to really show up and perform well he’s played here a few times and had some decent results and then I’m going to look at like top tens or top 20s preferably because you can get honestly it’s only like the first one or two people that are minus numbers on the top 20 everything outside of that you’re getting two to one on even mid-tier guys to get top 20 which I think is pretty good value so you got to be more cautious I I don’t like to play a lot of outrights this time of year because it’s harder and I definitely don’t play the big bets you know Xander or Scotty to finish top 10 or top 20 and combine that with something we know those are I don’t want nothing’s guaranteed but those are pretty close to guaranteed there’s nothing guaranteed in these types of weeks the TR cautiously we’ll do our best to help you navigate the waters uh tell you what we like to see and who couple guys that we’re looking at or avoiding um but I do think there is money to be made these couple weeks but uh maybe don’t like Andy said don’t go as heavy unless you think you you found an angle that makes a lot of sense to you maybe look at some matchups those are good bets this this time of year as well yeah I mean you have guys like Aaron Ry that are top 10 priced guys you know um I guess the other thing you could do is you look at this field and you’re like all right who’s play in the top 40 in the elevated events you know that guys finished 30th a couple elevated events all right that means he would be winning uh this tournament so yeah uh let’s get to the course Detroit golf club uh famously it’s the only golf club or it’s the only golf course that when I was watching live there was a police chase that went right through it uh through the broadcast the only one that’s ever happened Shout to the Detroit office uh for wager talk all right listen there’s just not much to this course uh expect players to go very low even with a weak field uh first off the weather is going to be perfect for this uh the course is a par 72 less than 7,400 yards three out of the four par fivs are reachable to two in pretty much the entire field several of the par fours are less than 400 yards there’s only one hole with the water hazard greens are receptive they do go front to back but there’s just not much to it pro golfers uh just will eat this course alive it’s a birdie Fest a couple holes where Wayward dries can get caught up in some trees um I know in 18 they’ve got like a drainage area off to the left of the Fairway you don’t want to be left um you can get caught up in just kind of some marshy swampy is you know terrain there but for the most part it’s set up for low numbers it’s set up to be fun it’s set up for a really good crowd experience so most players are going to be hitting a very high percentage of greens and regulation and Nick it’s just going to come down to putting who who who puts it closest to the hole proximity to hold and who makes those six to eight Footers for birdie that that’s going to determine your winner so we mentioned the 313 so it’s every year I say it’s a bit corny and yet I like it um it’s holdes 14 15 and 16 so the area code in Detroit’s 313 so the premise is whole 14s of of 500 55 Yard parf five very easy hole players can reach it two if their Drive is even remotely decent not much defense so if you get an eagle here that’s a three right so if you can somehow Eagle this par five you walk off to the 15th hole 160 yard par three and you’re trying to get a hole in one here that gets you the 3-1 uh that’s a very easy par three it’s short crowd should be great especially on the weekend and they’re going to put the pin in places where you know it’s going to roll down closer closer to the hole so if you get an eagle on 14 and then you get a hole in one on 15 then you walk to the 16th holds 446 yards Par Four maybe a couple Fairway bunkers but if the ball lands in the in the Fairway you got a very easy short approach now the green can be a bit difficult to putt on there’s some there’s some Mounds there’s a little bit of uh undulation but you put it close enough to hole and you get a birdie that gives you a three so you get an eagle on 14 a hole in one on 15 and a birdie on 16 that gives you 313 and then uh $313,000 will be given to charity um from the the sponsor rocket mortgage so I don’t know if they’ve upped it at all or if they’ve done anything to spice it up this year but that’s what uh they traditionally do here so um yeah pretty easy uh course here Nick not much to it you got anything else to add to the course Eminem will also feature you in his next uh music video if that happens by the way has anybody done it has anybody done it Andy do we know I don’t I mean you got to get a hole in one I know that’s recall it so I don’t think it’s happened no it shouldn’t be $313,000 it needs to be like three million like can we counts yeah right I got a net one Eagle ho in one birdie come on man and there only $313,000 no it needs to be 3 million uh yeah yeah anything else to add to the course not not a lot I mean there’s not much to the course that is I mean it’s the first time we’ve gotten back to four par fives in a while so that’s kind of exciting it’s been a lot of par 70s recently so a little bit more scoring on those holes but like we saw last week you’re gonna have to get to 20 under par to win I think four out of the five times it’s been played here the winners reached at least 23 under so you’re you’re absolutely right you got you got to find a guy that’s going to be able to go low um we kind of mentioned that I know I did when we were previewing last week of guys that have the potential to go low and you can see that in some of their results or their scoring or birdie averages if you look at those statistics uh in the year and of course they were the ones that that did now in a weaker field you still need the the potential to go go low like bti is a guy that can go low he shoots in low 60s you he could have a low week or excuse me a low round as well but there’s a reason he’s priced pretty low but distance never going to hurt you I mean Bryson D Shambo won here right that was back when he was oh big Bryson and then Tony fenale won here uh and when he was going back to back as well so like distance is never going to hurt you but it’s not really necessary you can look at some of the other guys that I’ve won here and it’s not I I wouldn’t put all your eggs in like oh you know like an Augusta Ryan Harman is a guy or Russell hinley is a guy that’s probably not GNA win because they can’t hit it far enough but no those those shorter type of players can certainly still play well because really what’s going to win the game is who can hit with the most greens and who can make the most putts there are it’s a weird yardage on the way the holes are routed where it seems like a lot of shots are either going to be short IR irons or long irons slash Woods because of the par FES but the kind of middle range is is not as deep this week so look for wedge guys um and look for guys that can go go very low and you know I I like to say I probably wouldn’t start outright looking until you’re at least at 30 to1 or 40 to1 this week just because I just I don’t I don’t understand why you’d want to bet a guy that’s typically in the 30 40 501 range at 12 to1 or 14 to1 this week but that’s just me uh but no I don’t have a lot more to add other than than that here for this particular course if you could just take a second out of your day hit the like button it really helps us out leave us a comment in the comment section tell us who you’re liking this week uh there’s certainly not going to be any picks that I’m going to cringe at uh I mean listen throw a name out there they I’m going to tell you yeah sure absolutely they got a chance to win especially on a course like this couple rounds with a hot Putter and you could absolutely be in the mix on Saturday and Sunday so just leave us a note in the comment section and please hit the like button uh really helps us out take a look at the total Strokes gained charts going to look a little different from last week uh just a SL just slightly different I mean what was what was sheffer’s total Strokes gained like plus four point something I think number one’s like Plus one.5 or something this week yeah batia last three months 1.52 all right this is an interesting chart not a lot of names that we’re used to seeing on here so Nick walkus through here what are what are the big takeaways the first big takeaway Andy is that I had to change my shading parameters the green Shades you see on the screen for this tournament because when I typed in all the numbers after last week and left the same parameters uh everybody was in the red you know because you’re right Scotty sheer was over three over four on some of these and everybody else was you know High twos or or one so everybody looked red this week so I’m like all right I gotta I gotta I gotta change that so it just gives you an idea of the drop off here as far as consistency and ability but we still got some good players in the field uh no surprises I don’t think here as as far as the order of things this is over the top excuse me over the last 12 months this is the top 10 and it’s you know very similar to what you’re going to see on the odds board the only thing that I kind of try to look at here is you know maybe somebody that’s not getting any love like you go at the very bottom I put him in the notables Robert McIntyre horrible in the last 12 months obviously has a recent win at the Canadian open beating Rory uh and playing very well over the shorter period of time so I like to look at these events where it’s the potential of the golfer right the guy that could has shown some life has shown some love maybe doesn’t have that first win yet or or maybe has won but has shown that he can get close to the top um and has done it with a little bit of consistency at least in the short term so I actually think a little bit here the three-month window may be a little bit more important than the 12-month window and I don’t usually say that because long term you can see up in the green bar at the top we’ve gotten a lot more of the top 10 winners recently and we’re at 62 of 112 tournaments since 2022 so 55% of tournament winners have been in this top 10 graphic but I think over the last three months might be a little bit more important this week uh if you’re wondering who’s leading that b batia is leading it at 1.52 uh some of the others that are in the top 10 um I I that’s why I added McIntyre he was in the top 10 in in the last three months I think he ranks number four um but not every single person in the top 10 is in this graphic because it’s ordered by the top the the the 12-month window but anyway no real surprises here um but I think there’s a couple guys I’m eyeing in this graphic mostly because of their shorter term uh kind of play more than their long play but wish I could add a lot more but that’s that’s kind of where this shakes out for this week yeah I mean yeah you got to do your due diligence and find out who’s been playing good I actually took a I took a look back at some of these guys who have played in some of these lesser events uh you know like non-elevated events and who’s had some success uh I kept coming back to Min wo Le i’ I’ve been critical of him um Yep this is the LA the last kind of lame event he played in he finished second I think you know I kind of laugh like why is he so overrated I actually kind of like him this week and actually not kind of I do I do like I do like him this week you know on DraftKings for um uh for a final finishing position um where they they they pay out on ties you can get min mle at plus 105 top 20 you know he’s hovering around the 20 to 20 yeah 20 to 25 in elevated events so um you know these Strokes gain they don’t look like they did last week but there’s certainly a lot of value that you can find on those so all right let’s take a look at some players that can trip you up I only have two this week normally I try and uh get three but after my pathetic showing on the segment uh last week uh I really it really it was really bad um let’s take a look at a couple guys I think could trip you up and we got to start with Ricky Fowler uh defending Champion Ricky Fowler here um I think people are just going to go back to him because well you know he won’t last year looked great in doing so but you got to remember his form when he was coming into uh the event last year and he was absolutely on fire this was a guy that had finished inside the top 15 in eight out of nine tournaments so he was playing some of his best golf in a long long time he comes in and he gets the win and I think he’s just going to be really really overvalued this week now that being said he he’s minus 170 just to make the cut that’s laughable in this field so while I don’t expect him to be a top 10 player minus 170 just to make the cut in this field uh so I this is one of those weeks where the odds are just very very strange here but I think if you put Ricky Fowler in expecting a top 10 finish just because he won last year um I think you might get a little bit uh I think you might be a little bit disappointed he’s he’s 41st in total Strokes gained in this field in the last three months doesn’t have any top 15 finishes so I think his upsides limited uh this week but I think I I don’t think he’s gonna return value yes Andy I wanna I just want to back up your play that I’m sorry but I want to add to you this win at the Detroit uh at Detroit last year is his only that’s the last time he finished in the top 15 so that just backs up your story of yeah he hasn’t had a good result since then and actually play he actually played well last week he had the Good Start end up I think 20th or close to that but top 15 this was his last one a year ago so sorry your suiss yeah but like but you know again like that was you know last week elevated an event take out you know the best 40 players from from last week so again I don’t think he’s returning top 10 value but minus 170 just to make the cut I I’m you know yeah absolutely that that that might have my attention uh on that one so uh will zures we have to keep talking about big name in this field this is not his type of course uh we’ve talked about this a lot how he thrives on the tough courses um good ball striking uh but his putting has been atrocious this year um and it is interesting the back surgery it appears that it’s really affected his putting the most minus 0.46 Strokes gain putting the last three months and as we talked about this is a birdie Fest you have to putt well and if you’re not putting if you’re putting minus 0.46 stroke this is a big name guy that I think is in uh is could miss the cut um if you can’t get the putter going and everyone else around you does on this easy course and you’re not making a ton of birdies you’re going to be dangerously close um to that put line he’s prices the eighth most expensive player in the field I see very very little chance of him returning value so this year is just basically a get right get healthy year for zalot Taurus um is that a couple of good finishes but I just don’t expect one this course just does not it’s not his type of course so Ricky Fowler will zorus uh those are my two bigger name players that I think can trip you up this week uh let us jump here Nick to Let’s do an outright winner and you got some interesting names to pick from uh like we said guys leave us a comment tell us who you like for an outright winner there are a ton of guys uh with the potential to win this week Nick who’s one guy that you have looked at yeah uh you know there’s always you know who the Canadians in general have been there’s always one of them that’s like in the top five right is it Cory Connors is it hadwin is it Nick Taylor is it Taylor pendrith right one of them’s always playing well and it’s like trying to figure out I usually I’m always wrong as to which one it’s GNA be uh but I’ve been watching pendrith you know recently and I almost pulled the trigger on him last week but’s he’s just somebody I’ve been watching for a couple weeks now he’s just playing he’s playing very steady you know he obviously had that win at the CJ cup Byron Nelson and since his tie for 11th at the caral pun toona Championship he’s finished inside the top 25 Andy in seven of his nine starts uh including a TI for 16th at the US Open obviously very good finish there because of that he’s I mentioned the short-term Factor here this week and who’s playing well in a very very shortterm versus the longer term he ranks third in this field in total Strokes gained over the last three months uh in this field which is obviously very good he’s got the right profile I think to cont year he does hit it a long way he ranks 15th in driving distance it’s again it’s not the most important attribute but never going to hurt you uh very few though can roll the rock better than him you mentioned putting and zalot torus not being something that should be in the same sentence this should be in the same sentence with pendrith because he ranks fourth this season in Strokes gain putting so the guy can roll the Rock and he can get hot with that thing and make a bunch of birdies he also ranks 15th in proximity to the hole from 100 yards and in and if he’s bombing his driver uh he’s going to have a lot of shots right at that 100 number or less and that’s going to give him a ton of scoring opportunities and he he’s he’s one of the better ones on tour for being able to stuff a short wedge and then convert that into a birdie he’s been making birdies and putting up low scores all year again quietly he ranks 14th in adjusted scoring and he ranks 15th in birdie average and again that’s the entire PGA Tour so if I actually went through that list and found out who was playing this week of the 14 or 15 ahead of him I bet he’s third or fourth right I don’t think there’s many ahead of them that are actually playing this week so to me all those appeal even higher this week because of the strength of this field the only two top 25 players uh in this field and finally he’s got good course history here he’s played it twice he actually finished co- runner up in his debut two years ago and then he followed it up with a tie for 14th last year so I like pendrith to contend whether you want to you know put him on the outright marker you want to play him in a top 10 top 20 matchups whatever you have whatever have you I do think he’s going to have a good week and I do think he presents pretty good value to uh to cash some sort of bet but I really I think 35 to one compared to some other guys that I think have just as good a chance to win uh as pendrith but you’re having to pay 20 to one or or less I think he’s just got a great number this week I placed 35th out of 200 people in DraftKings last week and he was one of the reasons why and I had senson in there as well so um you’re right about you’re right about the the Canadians so I’m with you on pendra this is the kind of guy that I think you’re really that that that you’ve done well kind of looking at you look at those finishes and you’re going yeah those were in really good Fields surely he’s got to be looking at it going man this is a you know this is a great chance for these guys uh to get a win so I really like the the Taylor pendrith uh I’m hoping to get some bets in uh on him so let’s take a look at DraftKings Darlings uh Nick this field is a DraftKings Darlings field I mean like some of these guys are at these prices are just like like wow I gotta pay 8,900 for Maverick McNeely all right so let’s dig deep here let’s dig Let’s find let’s find these um uh these Darlings uh we’ll start with Tyler Duncan at 6,000 he’s made the cut in three out of four tournaments he’s made the cut here four years in a row which is what I really like uh it’s not pretty Tyler Duncan at 6,000 not pretty but if we get him through to the weekend this is a steal if you get someone at 6,000 in DraftKings to make it through to the weekend to get your weekend points uh you’ve done very very well so Tyler Duncan is 6,000 as how I’ll start out um Cameron Davis at 7200 he just loves playing here he’s finished 17th 14th and first the last three years he’s made the cut in 13 out of 17 tournaments this year I think he’s got upside this is what we love about Kon Davis here is you know not the best finishes this year but there’s he just really likes this course so 7200 on a former winner that has top 10 upside yeah absolutely signed me up so Cameron Davis at 7200 and then I have to bring up uh Mark hubard I’m going to roll the dice with him 7700 well here’s what’s terrifying about him Nick he’s missed the cut three years in a row here so why are why are we GNA play Mark hubard at 7700 who’s missed the cut three years in a row here well this is a different year he’s made the cut in every tournament this year every single tournament get out of here yes Mark hubard you’re yeah our boy Mark hubard so I’m I’m I’m going to go you know what the street cannot end at the rocket mortgage classic at the Detroit Golf Club it just can’t like it cannot end here so if we can get Mark hubard to continue the streak uh yes then we’ll go with Mark hubard at 7700 Tyler Duncan Cameron Davis and Mark hubard those are your DraftKings Darlings and the rest of the lineup can be found on the article uh over at wager talk.com uh it’s the news page also it’ll be a digital download on uh my profile page so yeah it’s pretty crazy man and it’s not like Mark H has only played in like four tournaments what is it 16 uh he he played the PGA Championship played the US Open so he’s been doing it this year man um only has one top 10 finish but in this field H listen you know I’ll take it so um yeah it’s the DraftKings Darlings uh tournament for sure so all right let’s take a look at a finishing position I believe we’re going uh to be looking at a top 20 it’s a guy we already mentioned and he’s having a very Colin morawa esque season remember the last couple years when Colin morawa you like you either bet on him to miss the cut or to finish in the top 10 it was like there was this no in between uh I like where you’re going with him uh should set up well who do you like for a top 20 yeah I mentioned him before and you’re right about his finish this with Bobby Mack uh you know he came came for Mo I guess maybe not for us but for a lot of people kind of came out of nowhere uh you know to win a couple weeks ago beating Rory at the Canadian open but he it’s not really out of nowhere the guy’s been you know playing well this is his first full stint on the PGA tour he’s been playing well for years on the DP World Tour it’s actually his fourth win worldwide so it’s not that surprising but you know he had an off week the following week and understandably you know he just got his first BJ or win and then of course he goes and plays the US Open those conditions were just ridiculously hard so he missed the cut whatever I don’t care doesn’t bother me at all he rebounded last week though Ty for 16th at The Travelers where just just like we saw we’re gonna see this week you know you need low scores to contend so that’s very um it gets me excited to to want to back him again this week he’s also got strong finishes in this again the short sample size the three-month window we’re looking at he finished tie for eth at the Zurich yes the partner event um but he also finished tie for 13th at the Myrtle Beach Classic we know that was a that was an alternate field or an alternate tournament that week so it was definitely another weak field Ty for though at the PGA Championship obviously very good field but unlike a normal major that required low scores and he finished in the top 10 uh and like pendrith McIntyre kind of has a similar skill set he he hits it a long way he’s a very good putter he ranks fourth in total Strokes gained over the last three months pendrith was a third I believe so I guess those are just the statistical profiles I have made my bed with this week but Bobby Mack another guy I’m gonna be betting you know I like him as a top 20 you can get two to one on him to to finish that you can look at him in other ways too and you know you’re I’d be fine with an outright play on him matchup play I don’t know what yet uh who he’s up against but I think he’s going to have another good week he can he’s shown he can go low when the tournament requires you to go low and he’s been pretty consistent over the last three months so I do think he’s one of the better players in this field so Bobby Mack maybe we’ll catch a little two to one on him and maybe he’ll go further than that yeah absolutely yeah and I think you’re I think you’re doing it right there trying to uh get that plus buddy on top 20 there’s really no reason to mess with like a top 40 or anything you know you’re betting on him to do great or you you know not not that well so um yeah yeah yeah good good stuff there for uh for uh some good plus money there so I I I I love your ta Taylor pendrith uh I’m gonna have to do some more with Taylor pedri I might have be looking at some top 20s or anything with him just looking over his numbers what you’re were talking about I was like ah yeah yeah yeah he’s he’s he’s having a really good year so all right guys that’s going to do it for us for the ET mortgage it’s actually a pretty watchable tournament like I know it’s not the biggest name but the crow the crowd is always pretty good um they they they you know we we see some I I think like last week’s event was kind of like where they’re like oh you know this course you know sets up pretty difficult and it’s like it doesn’t it doesn’t set up difficult they can they can torch it this is an event where they want guys to go low like it’s it’s fun like they want to see like really really good you know let loose and let’s try and go for for 25 under so I I find myself just kind of enjoying watching this event so uh just don’t don’t think just because there’s not a huge a bunch of big names not in this field that it’s not a pretty watchable one all right that’s going to do it for us thanks everybody please hit
