ABOUT THIS VIDEO
The G/FORE G/18 golf shoes are the newest model from G/FORE. They’re a super comfortable spikeless golf shoe that’s like a more fashion forward version of their MG4+ golf shoes. But are they worth buying? In this G/FORE G/18 review I cover all the pros and cons to help you decide if these shoes are for you. I also compare to other G/FORE models like the Gallivanter, Gallivan2r, MG4+, and MG4x2.

this right here this is the G4 G18 golf shoe it is the newest shoe from G4 and at $250 it ain’t cheap so the question is how does it compared to all the other ge4 shoes out there and all the other golf shoes in general and is it worth the premium price tag should you buy this shoe that’s what we’re going to be talking about today keep watching so I’m going to be totally honest with you over the last 2 years I have fallen in love with G4 shoes now they’ve got something for everybody if you want a more traditional look you’ve got the gallivanter if you want an all day shoe you’ve got the mg 4×2 if you want a great allaround spikeless waterproof shoe you have the mg4 plus but this one right here the G18 it’s a little bit different from all of those and I got to say I’ve been pleasantly surprised by these shoes so uh let’s let’s get into why that is so G4 is a company that is known for its fashion forward looks and honestly because of that for years I didn’t really think I could pull off G4 shoes that was until about 2 years ago I wore my first pair of gallivanter and I’ve got to say I was blown away not only did I love the way they looked and the way they felt but they inspired confidence in a way that I just wasn’t expecting them to so honestly these days most of the rounds I play I’m wearing G4S just because they’ve become my favorite shoes when you’re combining performance and comfort in these new g18s I’m actually pretty excited by because they kind of bring something to the table that’s a little bit different than anything else G4 offers so I think these are most similar to the mg4 plus if you’re looking to buy a spikeless pair of G4S I think these are going to be the most similar to those and are probably going to be the two you’re comparing against there’s also the Gallivan tours which are kind of in that range so if you like that more traditional silhouette that might be the one to go for but one of the things I like about all three of those shoes is even though on the surface they have some similarities they’re each going to appeal to a different person who values something different so let’s talk about what some of those differences are so the Gallivan tours are kind of like modern meets tradition in the way the regular gallivanter are it’s a cross between that traditional leather silhouette with the comfort of a more modern spikeless shoe then you have the mg4 plus which is kind of middle of the road all around spikeless shoe that’s super comfortable and performs really well then you’ve got the G18 which in terms of comfort and performance is similar to the mg4 plus but definitely has a more modern fashion forward aesthetic so depending on if you’re looking for traditional right down the middle or something more fashion forward you’re going to have great options between those three shoes before I got these in person I wasn’t totally sure that I was going to like them but from the moment I put them on my feet I have been very impressed so let’s talk about First Impressions one thing I love that G4 does is they have a very different box for every single shoe they create so each box has a personal it that relates to the shoe rather than just having the same thing for everybody each experience of opening it up is going to be different and I love the fact they have that attention to detail hey real quick are you thinking about buying some G4 shoes maybe these you can use the coupon code I’ve listed below it’s going to save you 10% at 250 bucks these aren’t cheap but that might help make it a little bit more palatable you should know that it is an affiliate code if you use that I will get a commission if you have problems with that totally understand I don’t care whether you buy these or not my whole goal is to help you find the right products for you to that end if you don’t think these are right for you go take my quick quiz below you’re going to answer a couple questions about what you’re looking for in a golf shoe and I’m going to give you my best recommendation for the best shoe based on your needs that Link’s below the coupon codes below and with that let’s get back to the review now I’ve always been impressed by the build quality of G4 shoes but these might be the most impressive so far these just feel like a very sturdy shoe and not only do they feel sturdy and well built there are different elements that just make it feel like a high-end shoe which let’s be honest they better feel that way at 2 $50 so let’s look at a few of the things that stand out first off the waterproofing this just feels like it is going to be a completely waterproof shoe in the way the mg4 plus also felt also probably the most prominent feature you’re going to notice is this tow wrap up here so basically the so is going to go all the way up and then wrap all the way around the toe kind of similar to the way the Adidas code chaos looks but this is all very robust very well-built and has tons of traction so even though it’s a soft Spike after wearing these for a couple rounds I’ve had absolutely zero issues with traction and for me this is one of the most defining features of this shoe this kind of wraparound texture toe protection that not only is super functional if you’re someone who has a tendency to wear down the front of your shoes uh these are going to last a long time honestly there’s a lot of protection and these are super robust and durable so not only is it a cool aesthetic it’s also super functional another feature is the midsole around here which again not only feels incredibly waterproof it is very robust this thing is thick it’s sturdy and feels very well built so when it comes to support these shoes in my experience have provided as much or more support than most spikeless shoes that I have worn so if you’re someone who wants a fashion forward shoe and maybe you’re used to traditional Spike shoes but you’ve been wanting to try something spikeless this is a shoe I would consider because it has so much more support than a lot of other spikeless shoes out there and G4 honestly may be the best in the business when it comes to little touches that just make shoes feel more high-end so like for instance the logo on the back here it’s a rais logo that’s built into this heel counter back here so not only does this area provide a ton of traction a ton of support for your heel but then I just like the aesthetic I like the way these look from the back and the fact that they have this molded G4 logo I just think looks really cool if you’ve never worn a pair of G4 shoes you might be slightly concerned about the massaging Nubs in the insole once you’ve used them and once you’ve walked 18 holes in them you’re not going to want to go back they really do massage the bottoms of your feet they’re super comfortable and while they might seem a little weird at first I’ve grown to love them and that’s part of the reason why you keep coming back to G4 shoes some other small touches that are kind of fun is you’ve got 18 you’ve got a one inside and an eight inside here so the G18 also right here above the toe you’ve got a little ornamentation that says play nice so it’s just fun creative cheeky branding that G4 does across all their shoes and they do it in a way that doesn’t feel cheap but makes the shoes feel higher quality which I just really have grown to like when it comes to sizing I found these to fit true to size I will say the toebox does feel a little bit wider than on other G4 shoes I’ve used and frankly other golf shoes and in general so if you’re someone who likes a little bit of a whiter shoe or likes having a little bit more room in the toe box this is definitely going to be a shoe you might want to consider overall because the waterproof outs soole these are pretty easy shoes to clean but one thing I do want to note is there’s two sections of the sole here that have that kind of clear gum texture and because of that they tend to get dirty very quickly so I’ve only played two rounds of golf in these and you can already start to see these yellowing a little bit which you know it’s the bottom of your shoe it’s a golf shoe like people expect them to get dirty it’s not that big of a deal but if you’re someone who likes your shoes to always be completely pristine 360° just note that these sections here are going to be a little bit harder to keep from yellowing and keep that kind of clear gum that looks so cool until you’ve worn it a bunch and then it starts to get kind of yellow or brown but again it’s the bottom of your shoe and it’s a golf shoe so I don’t think most people are going to be bothered by that but I figured it’s something I would note so at $250 is this shoe worth it and honestly I mean it’s all relative it kind of depends on what your budget is for some people the thought of spending $250 on a golf shoe ever is just crazy and you’re never going to do it and for you then no this shoe isn’t worth it for others you might say hey I’m going to buy one pair of golf shoes a year I don’t care how much it costs I just want something that’s going to perform well I’m going to like in which case I think this has the potential to be a really good all-around shoe I think the traction is good enough that you can use it in wet conditions it’s obviously not going to have quite the traction of a true spiked shoe but when it comes to spikeless shoes I think these are close to the top of the Heap in terms of bad weather performance because they are fully waterproof you’ve got lots of traction here so if you’re looking for a shoe that you’ll be able to use in just about any conditions I think this is a pretty good fit comfort-wise I found these to be just as comfortable as the mg4 plus maybe not quite as comfortable as the mg4 X2 but those are also meant to be like training shoes those aren’t like true proper dieh hard golf shoes so you’re not going to wear those day in and day out but they are as comfortable as any other dedicated G4 golf shoe I have used so I think the big question for a lot of people simply going to come down to styling so these are a little more fashion forward than the mg4 pluses I honestly I think I like this style better the mg4 plus is one of my all alltime favorite golf shoes but I’m not like wild about the looks I think they look good but compared to some other golf shoes out there and even some other G4 shoes I think the looks are fine and while I do wear those a ton they’re not a shoe where I’m like oh my God I look so cool these look so great whereas these especially considering they’re brand new these are going to turn some heads the first round I played with them I walked up to the first tea I was playing in a tournament met the guy I was playing with and the very first thing he said are whoo What are those those look cool so if you want a shoe that’s going to turn some heads and people are ask questions about then this is probably going to be the one to get if you want something that’s going to fly under the radar be a little bit more mainstream not be quite as inyour face then I would check out the mg4 plus and if you want something that’s just super traditional then I would forget all of that and go with the gallivanter because those are kind of the signature G4 shoes you can’t go wrong I don’t know a single person who owns the leather gallivanter that doesn’t absolutely love them also at $250 these are $25 more than the retail price on the mg4 plus for me I’d spend the extra 25 bucks because I like the looks of them more and I do feel like these have slightly better traction than any other spikeless shoes that I’ve worn from G4 all that to say if you want a fashion forward spikeless golf shoe that you can use in just about any conditions and you’re not overly concerned about budget these are some of the best new shoes to come out in 2024 I like them and I really think you’re going to like them too so with that my name is Sean Ogle I’m the founder this thing here at breaking 80 where you talk about cool golf products and cool golf courses remember I’ve got that quiz linked to below so if you’re not sure if these are right for you go take the quiz see if there’s another pair that are and if you do decide that these or any other for shoes are right for you I’ve got that coupon code that’s going to save you 10% and hopefully make that purchase more palatable I hope you have an excellent day and I will see you on the next video peace

  1. I agree that once you get some G4's you are pretty much hooked. I have gallivanter in each color, and a pair of MG4. I recently just strayed away and bought some True shoes (the knit ones) because I thought something super light and comfy would be nice and they are just terribly disappointing vs my G4's.

Probably gonna give these new ones a try. I do where out that corner part of the toe with all of my golf shoes, so I'm really interested to see how that part performs.

  2. I have every G/Fore shoe so naturally want to get these. However, I found that my foot slide a little in the MG4+ where they don’t with any of the others. Do you think the wider toe box might create the same issue here?
