of the week and I think I’ve talked about this before Chris I mean there’s just no hope an there’s no hope on a Tuesday yeah you’re still telling people what you did over the weekend that’s why they said well tacos can maybe fix Tuesdays right and Tacos make everything better so hopefully you get some I know a meal will I can already smell it in the other room as we take you up to 2 PM and Sasha ven off as we were closing out the show yesterday we started to dive into something with WHYY gleon as far as a report that came out that kind of got bulldozed by all the other reports that literally said and you know seems like a credible reporter as well Chris as we continue to confirm and break that all down but it essentially said or he essentially said that the Kings sold Sasha that he wasn’t going to be part of their plans or something to that capacity right after that was the main report saying that Sasha wanted out so how those two things timed up we will discuss and why nobody is talking about the king side of it which Chris you kind of alluded to yesterday so we will break that down in more detail today the NBA Finals who is your MVP of the finals so far Bob Meyers okay decides to hook up his fellow general manager friends and and give an answer that isn’t really an answer so we’ll tell you about all of that Shams and W we have tin foil conspiracy theories about this Dan Hurley situation whether or not the whole thing was a sham not Shams a sham we will discuss what in the world happened there the Lakers continue their search also we have somebody from Minnesota that we talked about a little bit last week we’re going to break it down in detail who may be available a lot of different people interested in him and again a name where we’re gonna see a lot of people say no but if he went to a team that you don’t like I guarantee you you would not be very happy we will discuss who that is and there is a member of the Golden State Warriors who is likely to be released says reports would you want him on the Sacramento Kings we’ll tell you who that is and of course 12 o’clock we have some draft talk and just what should you be looking for in this year’s draft if the Kings decide to keep it and two prospects going up head toad I put this on social media and it’s causing a bit of a stir so we’re going to get your thoughts on these two young players in the game one they’re both from Northern California one is from the bay and one is from Sacramento closing out the show with some Giants A’s and the major league baseball player poll which is hilarious because people are making fun of the Dodgers Chris Watkins how you doing good man yeah I’m excited for that uh that that conversation about uh these two Northern California players I think that’s definitely going to uh as they said in what is that Blades of Glory it’s gonna it gets the people going for sure and that that conversation is definitely going to get the people going excited for that excited to talk some Inn out later possibly a lot of uh a lot of people upset about what’s going on in and out so Tuesday exactly it uh it may be not your favorite day of the week but there’s some uh really interesting stuff that we’re going to get into today can’t wait can’t wait let’s start here Chris and I have no clue what to do with this and you know we talk about front office a good bit on this on this show front office Sports because we like the business side of the game I think we had one of their writers on too in Vegas right that’s right I don’t know what to do with this though game two of Celtics Mavericks averaged 12 million viewers on ABC the most watched NBA Finals game two in five years isn’t this coming off the it didn’t I I swear it wasn’t game one view G Finals game since like 2008 or something what does that I don’t know what to do does that mean that the that game one was just at a bad time maybe I mean I I do kind of think like do you think maybe the layoff had anything to do with that because what we had about six or six days it felt like without an NBA without snuck up on some people yeah I I kind of think so I think it it might have been maybe something as simple as that um because I definitely think the Celtics have enough pull you know I think your your general casual NBA viewer will will tune in just because the Celtics are a legacy brand and you’ll always want to see that you got luuka in there for the first time you got Kyrie so you’ve got big enough names to where I mean should this be the most viewed finals ever like no it shouldn’t be beating the Braun Steph Curry games but you would guess like this is should should outdraw the Giannis Suns finals those things um yeah so it was kind of a bit surprising maybe it’s just kind of leveling out like you said May maybe it really was just the wrong day for them to have a game one I think that it’ll probably be pretty well viewed but kind of like I said at the start of the series I I mean honestly I I don’t know how many people are going to be tuning in for game three and game four especially if game three is a win the three Series game four probably not many people are going to tune in if it goes 31 even I I don’t think this series gets a ton of viewers if this thing uh is 3 31 if it goes 21 I think that kind of resets everything and can turn people back on but you know it’s it’s a it’s what a b B+ matchup in terms of you know what what I think the NBA could have gotten it’s fine it’s not excellent but I think it’s good enough to to to attract a general audience I’m I’m really struggling and I hear you on if the because at first I thought okay maybe it would do better during the week because people can’t really go out so why don’t just put it on there’s nothing else really on sty Cup finals are going on as well but for that Thursday game to not do well but then the Sunday game did well that’s a little bit interesting to me because Sunday you got your kids soccer games and things like that so yeah I think we’ll know more after game three you know Chris I’m really struggling with this Joe Missoula situation and not about some of his sound bites I’m just talking about on the court I really don’t know what to do and if let’s say they sweep the Mavericks I think as crazy as it sounds I think Joe Missoula could actually earn more points if you will if the if the series goes six because if they sweep it’s too easy it’s too easy and you start thinking and I know he’s had some good sound bites post game and he’s kind of doing the I don’t know if you you’ve seen he’s he’s kind of doing the the Shawn McVey thing where he said oh yeah well they scored 25 they scored 25 in the first three quarters and the only reason they didn’t score in the last quarter is because we gave up three so that allowed Luca to get to the line and he did one of those and people are like this is Rainman esque this is so cool so yeah fine but if you sweep then we start having the conversation of was this team too good name me an NBA coach that wouldn’t have won with this team and that so Luke Walton Mike Brown didn’t have to be there right these assistants were able to win exactly if Steve cerr didn’t get the 2015 I think people would look at him a little bit differently even though Kyrie and Kevin Love got hurt you still got it if the only championship and then he got 2022 but if the only championships he had was the ones with KD and and and the rest of the crew you got the armchair coaches like my father and you know everyone’s got an uncle that says well I could have won with that team and we’ll never know and I think that if the Celtics just beat the breaks off the Mavericks and this thing is a sweep I don’t know I think Joe Missoula let’s say the coach is the coaches list he will be on it because he has to be on it but I don’t know he’s not getting past I don’t know if he’s top five and I don’t know if he should be top five to be honest with you no yeah I I have no good answer for you I mean the only thing I can maybe compare it to is like early Eric spola where you know I think a lot of people again kind of like Joe Missoula they just didn’t know what to do with him it was like you have LeBron you have dwade you have Chris Bosch how tough is what you’re doing actually and LeBron didn’t get along with at first wanted him fired for Pat Riley so a lot of people had questions on okay if LeBron doesn’t want him as your coach but yada yada yada and long story short I mean we end up knowing that now you know Eric spoler is one of the best coaches in the league I say all that to say we might not get an answer on Joe Mula until you know you get a season where maybe Jason Tatum goes down early in the year and yet there’s still a one seed throughout the remainder of the Season or something like that it’s gonna unfortunately for Joe Missoula I don’t think he cares because it all goes on his record and it doesn’t like he cares still fits the same but you know I do think it’s probably going to take some like real adversity for Joe Missoula to probably actually get some just do and I wouldn’t even say just does I think it’s just till we find an answer he’s definitely at least a a decent coach he’s coached his team to at least a Conference Finals and then an NBA Finals appearance but in terms of the caliber or the level of coach or the tear that people would put him in yeah I I don’t think we’ll actually get an answer until situation shows itself I mean until until he’s kind of in a situation where the the chips are kind of stacked against him or until he has to maybe it could be in this series maybe he just has to make an adjustment at some point maybe he’s got to draw up a play I don’t know I mean I was actually talking with Frankie about it before we even come in we came into the show it’s it’s kind of tough to evaluate coaches especially now it’s just it feels like we just end up talking about Stat or not stats but like your accolades okay so it you know I heard Dave and Jason having a conversation this morning of trying to rank where Mike Brown is in the Pacific Division it’s kind of tough to have that conversation when really at the end of the day like we don’t go through the X’s and O’s of everything I’m sure JJ reick or Lebron could tell us more about who’s doing more of the the coaching side of things but from the General Media or even fan perspective right really all we can go off of is your success so you know they were talking is is Mike Brown better than Mike buen holds or or or Tyron Lou well the easy retort back to that is those two are champions and Mike Brown’s not and so it is kind of tough to have any sort of coaching debate or coach conversation because it ends up being a chicken or the egg situation okay they won a championship but does that necessarily mean that they they are great or if Mike Brown wins a championship does he then Vault those gu you know it’s just a really tough thing to try and place coaches without uh without really having the institutional knowledge of being in the game I do not think Mike buen hoser is a better Coach than Mike Brown personally I mean it’s tough because like you look at the Atlanta teams that he used to coach back in the day where they were the one seed in those Eastern conferences granted they never got it done but 60 plus wins from those teams he coached the the Bucks to multiple 60 win Seasons he won a championship with the Bucks I I mean I don’t again this is where like I just said like I can’t I just did what I said every’s been like all I can do is list what he’s done and that to me says he’s a better Coach because he’s been through it and done it but maybe you could retort and just say Mike Brown hasn’t been put in those situations and that’s that’s it’s the it’s the Brock pie put a different guy on the ners same thing because whether it’s I it’s buen hoser there’s obviously Mike Brown and then I’m just I’m looking at these this champion list here yeah and then Frank vogle I don’t know what to do with Frank vogle he’s a bub chion but he got his championship Lakers didn’t seem to care that much they Cann him after two years he’s Flo and then he got canned again he was terrible in Orlando but he was good in Indiana is when he had good play so is he better than Mike Brown and it’s a question of like okay you were good when you had good players but then you were bad when you had so yeah I don’t know man I I do not think if Frank vogga was a coach of the Kings this season I do not think they are any better I wouldn’t think so but I mean CH to be honest when Mike Brown was hired I didn’t have many high expectations and he he completely exceeded those so like I again I I just I really coaches is is such a tough thing to evaluate when you’re when you’re not talking about you know the Legacy guys like we when you know you know bringing in George Carl there was no question on whether George Carl was going to do a good job when he initially came in because he had all this pedigree he ended up being a terrible coach for that team right but nobody had questions so I again it’s just it’s such a tough conversation to have George Carl who now is something else on Twitter he that was part of the problem here let me tell you he fights with carmelo or somebody every week and now he came out and said that he he said don’t worry Lakers I’ll I I’ll coach your team if you want so George Carl is definitely one of a kind coming up next we talk about the finals I’m just anybody who listened to me in the bay knows I have I wouldn’t say strong feelings on Bob Meyers but you got to keep me on track here because I might go on a b every needs to keep me keep me you know honest here but here’s Bob Myers on who is the MVP the finals MVP so far said Malik the team it’s it’s Boston’s team let me let me ask you guys a question um Malik I’ll start with you who’s the MVP right now of the finals I got my answer but I’ll go answer too all right right now he I’m going to go with Jaylen Brown okay I’m going Jaylen Brown who about you true holiday I’m going Brad Stevens you think I mean half I get it but but the team put a team together he put a team together Drew holiday might have been the best player in this game the first game it might have been Jaylen Brown might have been porzingis that’s the advantage that this Celtics team has copout Central and and and excuse me is it Malika the moderator she’s supposed to be the host hold on hold on I’m goingon to ask this question because I got I I got these narratives that I want to corny I told you guys I turned it off I said absolutely not well Rocking New Era on on the sack chat is saying oh I remember Styles talking about my feelings on Bob Myers and look look this is good on good on B no no no well good on Bob Meyers for you know hey I gotta watch out you know for my other GMS and and you never know who you could come across in this life Bob Myers doing a lot of different things in the in the audio and video but also but also you never know he could go back to wanting to be a GM but I I don’t have a problem with Bob Meyers I just think he was a bit of a maid man and when I was in the bay and Bob Meyers said he was stepping down I had to do these shows where it was oh my goodness what are we gonna do Bob Meyers this Bob Meyers that and my feeling was Bob Meyers didn’t draft Steph Bob Meers didn’t draft play okay so the two core pieces he did draft Draymond the two the the you you didn’t draft two out of the three core pieces which allowed the team to get Kevin Durant I don’t think Kevin Durant if anything Bob Meyers said some ridiculous stuff during some of the parade talk where he said oh well when when KD or somebody asked somebody was gonna get a bag and and he said well Seth is one of our day ones he said that at a parade while KD was there then KD proceeds to leave so you didn’t do any of that I understand oh people oh well he got Andre ug cool but he didn’t get any of the core pieces besides Draymond then a then after that he goes on these shows and jokes about misses in the draft he jokes about how bad he was at drafting are you and I know they were drafting pretty low besides those couple of years but those couple of years and what have a conversation about Jonathan kaminga versus Keegan Murray later but those couple of years you also messed up you could have had vogner you could have had different guys yeah so Bob Meyers to me I just think when people the same thing that people do with coaches and oh my goodness how how do we evaluate these coaches I’m not saying Bob Meyers is a bad GM I’m just saying I don’t know if he’s as Elite as maybe his resume presents sure yeah um yeah I mean that’s that’s super loaded I I don’t really you told me to do it I mean yeah yeah and you said you weren’t going to do it I’m I’m ready for it I just I uh I I definitely think that you make a lot of really strong points for sure and um you know what what do they always say like history is told by the winners and I think that’s gonna be a bit of the Bob Meyer story for sure is that you know he he gets to kind of write The Narrative of that he he kind of LED this whole thing and you know it’s good on him but no you’re right like they messed up a ton of those drafts and um you know yeah he definitely got a lot of credit for a lot of things that probably weren’t even his decisions or were out of his hands you know he did keep the team together for sure I I think that needs to be said and I’m was he the one who also made the Steve Kerr hire initially I I you know that that definitely deserves some credit because that I think was a tough decision as well I mean it’s probably one of those things where he’s not as great as or incredible one-of a kind as people say he is and he’s probably uh you know not as bad as what you know some of warrior spaces will tell you right I think he’s probably somewhere in the middle but I think that’s even more so to your point that he’s not a god like he is not some dude basketball a different level we got to him push these narratives yes about about Brad Stevens being the finals MVP yes just tell me you don’t know what to say Bob and you could say two things at once like you can say but can we I think Jaylen Brown’s the or hey I think Drew holiday is the MVP but if anything I think that really speaks to Brad Stevens and him putting this team together that we have two three stars and it’s the fourth guy that nobody’s thinking about like there’s ways of doing what you wanted to do without I mean he’s glazing GMS is what he’s doing right there that’s just saying oh you know GMS don’t get enough credit for putting these things together I everyone talks about Kevin Durant and Steph Curry what about BM how about Bob Meyers yeah what about what about Big Shot Bob I mean I have Jaylen Brown so far for my finals MVP I think through two games and I emphasize through two games because I think it’ll change but I think it’s Drew through two just because he’s been so good I mean he was ridiculous in game two what I think he was like 10 of 13 in that game lock he’s been locking up Kyrie he’s even switched on to Luca a couple times too I just think again through two games he’s been the best player I would probably honestly have Jaylen Brown as number two and I think I’d have Tatum at number three okay yeah there you have it we still still have a lot of time left in this finals and yes hopefully I had a buddy who was talking to me about prop talk and real quick and he didn’t realize so there’s a tab that said Series so you can pick I think it was KV no no just a a set number so it was either Jason Tatum or Kyrie Irving 99 points over under for the series oh okay he didn’t read it correctly and he did overs but it says games one through four oh so they don’t so it’s if yes so games five and whatever they don’t they don’t count you can still do game by game but it’s for the series is one through four and he didn’t read that so he smashed overs on everything and I said brother I think you need to reread that and he said I didn’t realize it was games one through four or I would have bet differently I bet you would have so he’s got to he’s got to deal with that you I kind of think the players are making millions of dollars and like that should probably motivate them to do their best not a coach not another human telling them you should try hard I also feel like that text is that’s that’s just somebody who doesn’t like Mike Brown I somebody trying to get Mike Brown fir yes it’s kind of pointing towards some of the losses that the Kings had yeah I mean and and we’ll get into I hear kind of what they’re saying that’s a part of it that’s yeah we’ll get into the conspiracy theory as well which is connected to coaching but yeah I mean what is when you hire a coach you kind of want them to do everything now what’s I what’s interesting as there’s so much comparison between NBA and NFL these days is that you don’t necessarily expect everything from one coach in the NFL whereas I feel like in the NBA you do for some reason maybe because the NFL has so many more players yeah but you know when you look at a coach that Mike Tomlin that picture went viral was it 17 years 17 years Mike Tomlin some of these guys when we put these guys into categories of this is an ex X’s and O’s Guy this is a raah ra guy right and you can have a raw raw guy as long as there are X’s and0 people around them X’s and0 coaches around them and vice versa yeah Ben Johnson Dan Campbell exactly so Nick serani Nick serani I I heard the drive guys talking about this last week so the so they got a new offensive coordinator they’re making sure their coordinators are better right and you would ask the question well what is Nick syani do that I mean if you if you have so much going on with your offensive coordinator and your defensive coordinator I he’s there to do and to inspire right and do what 925 said but that’s all it seems like and I’m not trying to you know downplay his job but are you saying that NBA coaches do more than NFL coaches alen I’m saying it see well I’m saying that we opening this side of the debate too well that that is a good debate and that probably will happen before the Summer’s over but it does it does feel like NBA coaches are expected to do what the 925 is saying and NFL coaches are not and I don’t know what the heck MLB coaches are expect to do just don’t don’t make the wrong substitution in the bullpen and get rocked much can can I ask a completely random question about baseball managers I don’t think it’s unfair to you because I don’t think you have an answer but maybe you’ll have more insight who slash why do baseball managers wear the J could you imagine if like Mike Brown was just like dressed like Kevin hder guy on the bench actually love that who decided that Jim Leland needs to be dressed the same as Juan SoDo or what you know like what I feel like it’s just one of those things that nobody asks about and it’s just like this is a 65 plus year old man yeah in a full uniform when like every I mean I know in the NBA they used to wear suits they don’t anymore but like I don’t know it’s just it it’s something that that has stuck out to me recently and I just I I I I’ve never heard a good explanation for why these guys are are dressed like the players are it’s just really weird no I’m not really sure either and you know it happens in college too I like yes and as I embark on my my coaching that’s right yeah you know my my coaching Adventure I I don’t know I don’t know how I feel about it I the finals games there’s a lot of JJ reck and then I think that’s honestly when the Dan Hurley smoke kind of started so people are wondering just have we all been taken on a ride here have we essentially gone through this week where Dan Hurley never actually was going to take the job this was all leverage this was all him always trying to get a contract raise with Yukon and you know there’s a lot of things that that point to it I mean if you again follow the the trail of all the reporting last week and how Shams uh had initially said I’m sorry W had initially said that Dan Hurley was the guy from the beginning and W and Shams obviously had reports the entire time of JJ reic being the guy and and James bgo being the guy was this all a you scratch my hey we can all win in this situation uh and you know as we know yesterday Dan Hurley made the decision to not be the Akers coach and uh I heard this morning Shams throw uh I don’t know if I’d call it a jab because it was it was a pretty it might have been a straight it might have just been uh well I guess that straight is a jab but you know I I think he he definitely uh saw it coming it might have been a bit of a Haymaker is what I was trying to say and uh here here it is here here’s uh Shams on uh on W and his reporting on uh just just really if Dan Hurley was actually ever a candidate here I’ve said that JJ reck has been the front runner for this job James reggo has also you know been among the leaders for this job as well with JJ reic but when you think about the process so far right Rob pinka has met before this Dan Hurley situation he had met twice with two candidates he he met with JJ reick once he met with James bgo a separate time solo and then James bgo came into the facility met with everyone met with ownership and and then they last week on Wednesday turned their attention I’m told to Dan her early and he was not the number one candidate the number one guy to go pursue from the start from the beginning uh but they felt like there was an opening there for him he was in contract negotiations with Yukon He was discussing a deal to go back and they felt like there was an opening and they threw what really people on the league believe was a Hail Mary offer at him six years $70 million and at the end of the day Dan Hurley chose not to leave he chose to stay for $20 million less at Yukon they did go up significantly from his current deal right now but it is $20 million less and you think about the Lakers job and what it’s known for and and the big ESS of it and he still decided to stay at Yukon go for a chance at a threee and you know it does beg the question around the league was there genuine interest was this a genuine process with this or was this simply just about leverage so when you think about it the Lakers are two and a half weeks out from the NBA draft they’re three weeks away from free agency no but Shams to me and we got to get to the rest of it on the other side but Shams to me the issue with what he’s saying is he was not the number one candidate from Jump Street but that doesn’t matter because they offered him I mean it matters because W had initi had con out and said essentially discrediting everything Shams had said about JJ being the candidate because that was all the the talk was JJ and James bgo and then W comes out and says bump all that that’s not true Dan Hurley has actually been number one behind the scenes this entire time so Shams is arguing Shams is arguing that he had JJ reck yeah as number one right he’s just saying that even before like might tattoo it on my arm or something JJ reick come on down I mean that’s and that’s maybe you know I think we’re we’re viewing it as you know the Lakers going out and and making uh you know a bold move or something like that but maybe to everything Zack low just laid out maybe and everything you just kind of said about Frank vogle maybe it’s more of that’s the situation they’re in to where they don’t they can’t really get your conventional coaches you know Co coing Carousel guys because like you said these dudes talk Frank vogle I’m sure talks to other coaches and Darin ham was a well-respected assistant and you see how Laker fans and the Lakers I wouldn’t call it their media but just I would mainly call it their fans just ripped their coaches apart yeah they completely leave them naked and and alone uh by the end of it and I don’t know how many people want to voluntarily sign up for that deal when like Zack L said there’s 29 other teams that don’t have that level of baggage of course don’t have it it works both ways you also don’t have that level of attention but in today’s day and age like OKC gets coverage I don’t think you necessarily have to look at that Lakers situation and say that’s the only way I’m GNA put my name on the map it might not be that that attractive of a job I’m not saying it’s a bad job but it it might not really be The Shining there are some conflicting reports as far as whether or not the Kings talked to Sasha before Sasha talked to the Kings you alluded to maybe it wasn’t direct to Sasha but they could have alluded to hey we’re not really sure where you fit in so we we wanted to just make sure we were getting all angles of this and you know as as far as we know this is what this person has confirmed obviously based on what we’re seeing he’s not in the states he is in the UK or he’s in Europe somewhere so it’s kind of hard to break down what is and what isn’t true but it felt like the right thing to do to at least run this through the the the Gambit as well I don’t think that there’s much controversy I just think Matteo is correct I I don’t again like yesterday I I the situation I laid out is ex I just what Matteo is reporting makes the most sense like I mean I don’t even think it’s that it’s that uncommon I think it’s a really common thing for again in exit interviews when when the GMS and the coach meet with every single individual player at the end of the season they go over how the season went what the goals were going into the season what they want you to work on during the off season and a lot of times in those conversations it’s a brutally honest talk about where you are and and what your role is with the team and what you feel and and that’s kind of the time when everything is let out I just think in that meeting Sasha was told hey this didn’t go the way I think either of us thought it would we’re going to pursue other options we think that we would much rather move forward with Trey ly and we’re going to try and find you a place where yeah they’ll get you some playing time but I also don’t think that that’s necessarily 100% what the kings are going to do like I think in in terms of especially looking for a Sasha location like I think he might just be thrown into like I said yesterday Kyle kosma trade an Alex kuso Zack LaVine trade I just think that it almost guarantees that the Kings will make a move and Sasha is going to be a part of it somehow I I I don’t really think that this is uh I I just kind of think that every there’s a misunderstanding of how NBA is operated versus how things are done overseas and they think that players have power here that they just don’t have but you don’t think it’s you don’t think it’s weird that nobody else brought the king side of this up everything that we saw on S but everything that so do you think it was just assumed no I think it’s Sasha sourcing I think it’s Sasha or his agent being the ones that are telling these overseas reporters the Kings don’t have connection points overseas and so the fact that this comes out from multiple reporters overseas tells me that probably Sasha’s agent released this information to them for whatever reason I don’t have a reason why but I I just think that this is the agent telling these guys they packaged it differently right to they said they’re saying it sof the Sasha side yes we told the kings were not interested but but which I’m it also could be true it could be Sasha it could be a mutual thing where Sasha walks in and says I wasn’t happy at all this year like you’ve heard and the King’s saying cool we weren’t happy either let’s just let’s make this clean so technically right technically Matteo Matteo is just more correct about the process of this thing others reported it as if Sasha is the one that’s dictating things when in reality if the Kings but the Kings can keep him is the difference that the reports were making it sound as if Sasha’s not requesting a trade not demanding a Sasha is going to move teams that was kind of the reporting that that everyone else was out there saying that Sasha is going to go seek a different situation or he’s gonna ask to be released from his contract um yeah doesn’t sash the reporting from uh one of the reporters Sasha fenov has informed Sacramento Kings that he doesn’t intend to return for a second season of his contract that wording makes it sound as if he’s going to go overseas and forgo his contract say I’m not playing in the NBA I’m gonna go to my own situation control my own destiny which yeah he cannot do he cannot play for a team overseas while under contract with an NBA team he’s got to be cut or traded and then cut or traded and then worked out you know had some understanding with the new team but he is not in charge in this situation and the reporting from everybody except for Mato was that Sasha seems to have some level of control over this right and Matteo was just saying the Kings could the Kings could have said this a a month ago months ago probably did right and obviously they’re not gonna put this information out because they want leverage in a trade they want teams to think that they’re still interested in Sasha and Sasha’s Camp decided hey they told us this let’s try to time this right and we can spin it in a different way so that maybe a team that’s interested in Sasha would want to do business with the Kings for whatever it’s worth if it’s all because it’s already shot it’s already it’s O it’s over as far as Sasha is concerned as far as what he initially thought this was gonna be so let’s see what we can salvage I guess and make it seem like we have we’ll just try to repackage it and the Kings aren’t gonna say the Kings don’t really care yeah I mean I don’t even know if there’s any malicious intent here I just kind of feel like it’s loose lips I I don’t think that this is Sasha’s agent trying to get leverage or anything because they can’t they can’t make a trade until after The Season’s done anyway so there’s not really much of a strategic play in terms of the timing of it so so okay so you don’t think that Sasha’s Camp said we’re gonna drop this Saturday no somebody with a big mouth I think so yeah that’s that’s what it feels like to me um unless someone could I just can’t find what the leverage would be from their standpoint well Nei neither could Keith Smith nobody could yeah so I just kind of think that you know guys ask you know it’s probably a situation where they you know those reporters haven’t been around Sasha in about a year and we’re probably just asking for updates and uh they got one they they definitely got some sound bites from the former Euroleague MVP yeah I think that Sasha will get moved I don’t know if it’ll be part of the a monster deal or if it’ll be a side deal but I I think the Kings want to do right by Sasha not to say that they’ve done wrong by Sasha but I think he still has some value and somebody will take a a flyer on him there are enough teams that just like everybody needs pitching in in baseball everybody always needs a shooter oh yeah so I think Sasha a movement shooter good length just doesn’t really have an opportunity let me ask you this real quick yeah as far as Trey lyes is concerned and I know you were the the mayor the captain of the Trey Bays is there any and you we’ve seen more from Trey ly defensively Trey ly isn’t a stopper no right he’s I would say he’s better than Sasha venkov but I don’t think he’s a shut down guy either is there any thought in your mind that you would maybe rather keep Sasha than Trey just to see maybe yeah I think the shooting is definitely really intriguing like if he can figure it out um Sasha can I I think that there’s potential for something exciting um but I do wonder if Trey is just more of like a winning player if that’s if I can use that cliche um course yeah I mean you know I just kind of feel like he’s he’s a little bit more gritty you know he’s he’s diving on the balls and he’s the king’s grit guy right now if anyone’s going to get into a fight we all know it’s Trey that’s going to be the one that everyone thinks is going to step Yeah by default one time because that literally that one time two years ago like this is what we have to hang on to um so I think there’s just like other intangible things he’s a good rebounder um I think just Trey has more things that a coach would say you know I can fall back on like if Tre shooting isn’t there he could still be a good rebounder than Sasha EX think that’s the perfect way of putting it Sasha to me is just a DH where if you don’t have shooting on a given night he can come in he can light it up possibly or he can continue to Just Jack them up and and miss him just like everybody else um I think that’s kind of where the the the separation begins is you know Trey just is a little bit more of a little bit more of a Swiss army knife and Sasha is a little bit more pigeon hole than what he can do yeah we will see how that all unfolds but the whole thing is it’s fascinating to me simply because that was such a name really by default because the Kings essentially ran it back so I think that added to the Sasha I guess lore if you will because this is our shining this is all we have we’re running it back but we’re adding this Euroleague MVP and it just didn’t work out and it didn’t work out I are you a bit surprised at all quickly are you a bit surprised that Sasha he is 28 yeah are you a little bit surprised that he didn’t just kind of keep it pushing for one more year yeah for sure I mean I guess if the king said something to him that’s why right yeah let’s say let’s say they didn’t yeah I think so um I mean yeah to not treat it with kid gloves like I would I would kind of want him to be a little bit more professional about it like I think I it’s kind of tough because I do understand his side of things too because of the whole recruiting pitch like if somebody is traveling across the country if an NBA team the best in the world is traveling across the world to come get me to play with you there’s a certain level of expectation of like all right we’re going to we’re like gonna cater to me to an extent and like really try and make this thing work and I think he understood that or quickly came to learn that there’s no special treatment and I I kind of think that I think that upset him a lot and I I just kind of think you know you’re you’ve been in you’ve been a professional your entire life in terms of you know you you’ve literally played in the pros since you were 16 17 years old I would have hoped that he he had a better grasp of the business and and the fact that you know yeah like you know you’ve you’ve been in situations before to where you know you were in a smaller club and then you sign with Barcelona and then you have to come off the bench for Barcelona for a year before you get like a a footing you know you have to learn the system before you’re before you’re thrown in there it’s you know I don’t expect Sasha to understand like you know quarterbacks but but it’s like you know you draft a rookie quarterback you got to give him some time to learn the offense a bit and to spread you know J.J McCarthy’s not probably not going to start week one so I think it’s it’s the fact that he didn’t quite I think there was a miscommunication in in how he was going to be handled and uh I think I would have of course liked for him to to get another year because I still think if he goes to a different situation I just think it’s gonna be a repeat of this season unless it’s just a really bad team that just throws him out there yeah he he’s starting not all over but pretty much coming up Anthony towns if the timber make him available the Warriors are on that list as well nothing connected to the Kings yet Chris but Carl Anthony towns we talked a little bit about it last week wanted to get more in depth today as far as his contract situation and what he brings to a team don’t know what his contract is what he brings to a team and and what he doesn’t bring to a team and whether or not it would be a good fit so here you go Carl Anthony towns and this is interesting if these are I’ve never seen this in purple on uh spot Trak they’re estimates right so the estimates are 49 49 mil next season 53 mil the season after that then 57 mil then a player option for 61 million and yeah in 2024 I think it starts next season in 2024 2025 you will earn a base salary of 40 9 million that’s what I’m seeing here the Timberwolf signed Town 4year 221 in July 22 um huh yeah I mean that’s that’s that’s the price of one Elite Carl Anthony towns that’s the problem you’re paying him like a superstar he better be one well that just started because that no that’s kind of crazy though they signed him in 2022 so they’ve they’ve known this this bill is coming all year long that’s why they want to move him now that’s what I’m hearing that’s that’s what it is I mean I hear the same thing it could be cat it could be Jaden McDaniels he did a similar thing as well it seems like one of these dudes is going to move especially if that A-Rod groups takes over I’m pretty sure that they said their first uh order of business is going to be cutting salary those are two really big salaries a player option at the age of 32 for 61 million he just accepted it right that’s inane now with that being said pretty hefty price tag yes for a guy who what would you call Carl Anthony towns in the league top 20 uh I wouldn’t um yeah I don’t know man I think he’s he’s top 50 um I I don’t know I don’t know where exactly I would have him falling I mean I would have him top 50 yeah I’m I mean I’m not a cek I’m not no you’re not and I am so here you go if you like when Chris and I argue yeah I you’re GNA like this I just I mean we can look at you know maybe some of the the NBA top 100 rankings and things like that but I think Carl Anthony towns is a very very skilled offensive player I do think he’s a good shooter he’s a good floor spacer but one of the best he he just kind of lacks that that dominance like he’s not a number one option four-time All-Star two-time all NBA yep Rookie of the Year all rookie team his career he’s averaged 22.9 points 10.8 rebound and 3.2 assists on 52% shooting 39.8 from three great numbers 83% from the field he uh excuse me free throw he is number 27 on the ringer top 100 so there you go he 27 yes he is in between uh Damen Lillard and Lori marinan so do with that information what you will he is also below Deus sabonis and dearon fox in that list which I was pretty much going to say uh I think he would be the king’s I mean he would be their second offensive option but I think in terms of impact he would probably be the king’s third most impactful player yeah and I’m and I’m not paying $50 million for that I’ll tell you that right now and I don’t know what team should I mean in Minnesota I think again he’s probably the third most important option I would say uh you know absolutely Anthony Edwards I would say Rudy goar what he brings on the defensive end is probably just as if not more important than what cat does on offense like and you know he does have a role I don’t me make want it to sound like cat is a bum it’s just for what a what you’re going to pay him to do but B I think when he walks through the door the level of expectation for the guy that he could be isn’t going to be the guy that he is and I think that’s kind of the problem with him I just don’t see him maxing out what his potential is yeah and we saw certain teams on this list like the Warriors I have no clue how the Warriors would pay him that money well not if they’re not ever going to get rid of Andrew Wiggins right well that well that’s the has to be it well that’s the homecoming for Andrew Wiggins but again why would I don’t think mines well it would be wig again even kaminga in that situation do does Minnesota need kaming what does Minnesota need what does Minnesota need that the either the Kings have or one of these suitors has when you think about the pro they need a score they need a point guard they can use a point guard for sure I mean I think that’s why I keep saying the cat Trey young thing makes so much sense for me one for one um and then what what are you doing in Atlanta deante and catl of Misfit Toys I guess yeah I don’t really I don’t but that’s yeah I mean it’s it’s getting at least a an equal talent for your talent and maybe you can adjust later um yeah I mean I don’t think for Atlanta that’s really a solution at all it just kind of seems like you’re shifting a problem um but you know yeah I mean if you’re if you’re Minnesota I think you you do at some point need a Mike Conley replacement as especially longterm uh and if you’re going to take away cat you probably yeah you’re probably going to need another offensive weapon of some sort you need a cheaper it sounds like what they want is a cheaper scoring option yeah whether that be because you can get a we just talked about point guards but a scoring point guard is tough yeah so you’re either looking for a scoring Wing because you have your defensive wings or a another scoring guard you don’t have another but the issue but what’s funny is cat is a scorer yeah for sure so why do you why do you have to move off cat unless you just don’t want to pay him I think it’s the frustration that he brings I think it’s the the softness I think it’s the defensive mishaps I think it’s um yeah I mean I think it’s just the fact that he’s not the guy that you want him to be I I do really think that that’s really what it comes down to is he’s just not he’s not that guy pal like I just think he’s he he should be but he’s not and I think that leads to a lot of frustration what would you think of and I’m trying to make the best of both teams like a Michael Porter Jr swap of of some not swap but like a a Michael Porter Jr to to Minnesota and then maybe cat goes to Denver I mean the scary part of your Minnesota is adding that level of offensive weapon to joic could be really dangerous that’s some Twin Towers two SF Footers um but like that’s the kind of guy I mean to your point like a cheaper scoring option that that would be the kind of guy that maybe I would look after because you have to look for a certain caliber if you’re going to replace cat yeah you can’t just bring in Jordan Clarkson or something and and expect him to to fill that level of scoring role you still have to get another semi Elite to really good player to replace that production and you know that’s what makes this thing tough but someone will want cat I mean I know the report says the Knicks are going to be 100% in on him but I don’t I don’t think Julius Randall really does it I if I’m Minnesota I wouldn’t want Julius Randle as the replacement for cat Dollar Store cat right I mean I feel like that’s a generic store cat I me you might as well just pay cat top dollar and you are you know the devil you know is better than the devil you don’t and Julius Rand with these injuries these last couple years and he’s got T-Rex arms I that the one thing I remember from that draft that Julius R had short arms very short arms y yep and I I don’t know where uh what the Knicks would do with cat E I mean you know yeah I think Kat and Brunson would be really really fun I don’t think he’s really a Tom tip kind of tibs had cat actually now that I think about it in Minnesota I you know I don’t know I I wasn’t super familiar with how cat uh how cat and tip’s relationship was but he just doesn’t feel like you know if you think of that Nicks team this year cat just personality wise doesn’t really fit on it so you know I don’t know I I think he’s definitely gonna have a lot of suitors Miami I think is a team definitely to look out for with cat but um you know I I just think especially from the King side I mean that that’s way too much money and if you’re Golden State I mean yeah it raises the question of who are you who are you giving up to get this is per Tim kawakami Kavon Looney will likely be released by The Warriors to save money on their tax bill only three million of Looney’s 8 million salary is guaranteed until it fully locks on June 24th the Warriors have all these non-guaranteed deals this has been their their glitch in the system if Looney is released expect plenty of interest you know Chris obviously I was out there in the bay so yeah Kavon Looney and you Sacramento Kings are very familiar with Kavon Looney from a couple years ago and if Looney is released expect plenty of Interest essentially what happened this season is The Warriors are trying to figure out what worked what didn’t it feels like Looney’s stick has kind of run out of rope here in in the bay and you have Trace Jackson Davis who came in and played really well you you didn’t have Draymond then you got Draymond back so the combination of that with these wings with these wings that Kavon Looney is getting switched on he has literally no offensive bag he’s not an a scorer at all he has no offensive moves so I’ve it’s always been incredible to me for the Warriors to run out Draymond and Kavon Looney for as long as they did it seems like that had that road has come to an end Kavon Looney is a great Champion for the Warriors and I guess that there will be some interest if you’re looking for a rebounder that is I would still say fairly above average on defense if he gets the right matchup right on switches I think he is less of an issue than other bigs he can move his feet by the way if you’ve never watched Looney in high school before the hip injuries he was supposed to he they said he might have been Kevin Durant and I know it sounds crazy next time you have some free time check out check out his mixa from high school it was incredible and to a lesser degree at at UCLA it was incredible the dude was cooking so now Chris I see Kings fans saying Kevon Looney would love to bring him in on a minimum deal I don’t know when Evan Cy says there’ll be plenty of Interest I don’t know if Kevon Looney will get more than a minimum deal right personally I’m not even going to tease anymore I don’t understand why the Kings would want Kevon Looney I don’t really get why and I and I know fans in general just want everybody sure and I don’t know how much Kings fans watched Kevon Looney besides that Series where he grabbed 25 rebounds a game and played out of his mind I don’t know why the Kings would want Kevon Looney I don’t know what that does I think it’s just a you know it’s it’s kind of a well it’s it’s crazy actually as I’m looking at he’s 28 years old I know I was gonna say a hard literally was going to suggest he could be this season’s Javale McGee you know kind of be the guy who’s been there done that can be more of a you know a vocal presence than like helping out but at 28 years old I mean ideally unless you’re you’re paying truly like a vet minimum for him you you’d like to get some sort of production out of him and you know I think I think there could be something there but I mean you you said something in the pre-show of you could just play Alex lenmore too you know I think that might be a better solution because I do think a lot of the things you want from Looney you know is fine Alex Len can do is a lob threat as well exactly like Looney 68 69 maybe and he has got credit card hops so I I kind of feel like unless you and the Kings could definitely use some rebounding but let’s try and think of when cavon looney would play not where but when he would play he was playing 16 minutes a game for Golden State last year he’s been around anywhere from 13 to 20 minutes for them I can’t see if he’s going to be the one backing up sabonis well is he running the dribble handoffs because you know they I I just don’t know really what what he’s going to out there doing besides rebounding and I mean that’s that’s a great skill for sure but I just feel like um the kings are in a position like Mike Malone said earlier this year you gotta have you got to be able to do more than one thing when you’re out there and if Looney’s one thing is is rebounding and then okay defense I I just think I we can look at other places for guys um who might also be able to to solve our Rim protection problem if cavon Looney was a good rim protector or an elite rim protector this would be a different conversation but I think just bringing in the rebounding it’s not enough for me to to get excited and say no we have to go get cavon Ludy yeah we could but it’s you know I’m not gonna be super excited vet minimum sure we can have the conversation I’m just thinking about the offense right and I do think that there is a little bit of familiarity there the Kings aren’t running exactly what the Warriors are running Kone is a saon he would yes he would be I don’t have a I don’t have any worries about Kavon Looney understanding the offense I think My worry is I think maybe I’m having some flashbacks about how poorly the King shot this season and now putting out someone who at least Alex Len has some like I said lob threat some some sort of a offensive bag Kevon Looney you you go out there and you just don’t have to pay attention to him yeah you know he’s had some he’s 28 but that’s a hard there all 28s aren’t created equal and I would say the thing about iron feet right you call him Iron Man they they got lead in his shoes exactly so you know that here’s a guy who you’re you’re trying to fit into this fit into this roster and he didn’t get I put it to you like this he didn’t get time on the team that you beat right to to go to the next playing game he didn’t get time on a 10 seed that needed a center yeah that needed a center they decided to go with Trace Jackson Davis as the backup to to Draymond and the really he would have got even less time if Draymond wasn’t choking fools out and and and slapping dudes so Kevon Looney whatever his minutes were helicopter slap yeah whatever his minutes were you know you go on Mortal Kombat on him whatever Kevon Looney’s minutes were that’s also in part due to Draymond not being there so he would have played even less if Draymond was there more so I think that he was just straight up getting dmps last year wasn’t yeah he was and they started Trace Jackson Davis a couple times too so I think the game as far as how much he can bring to the game I don’t want to say it’s pass him by but I think there’s a probably a place for him yeah I don’t know why that would be the Sacramento Kings no he feels like uh Miami you know like he’s that kind of guy or you know I feel like the Blazers always randomly get a ton of like those maybe I’m just thinking of gp2 but like these these warrior king castoffs seem for whatever reason to go up North um there’ll be a team maybe he’ll go to the Bucks like he’s from Wisconsin we talked about that yesterday yeah if especially if they lose a guy like Bobby poris not that he does what Bobby poris does but similar frame similar size um you know could maybe fill in there there’s G to be a rollf for he’s the three-time champion too someone will sign him oh someone maybe even Lakers might sign him like I I just don’t know in terms of impact which is when we’re here in Sacramento that’s the thing that we have to worry for first and foremost about we’re not really in the the luxury piece uh place in our development yet we need guys who if we’re going to sign them what exactly are you bringing to me and Looney is a great screener he’s a great rebounder but I I just kind of feel like the Kings need need more than that from their only big man out there because they’re not running two bigs at once if Looney’s gonna be out there for the Kings he’s gonna be the only big man out there and I think they need somebody who does a little bit more than just what he does Dennis youngl likes Looney over Len due to the durability Len always gets hurt 82 games 82 games 74 games last three seasons for Kavon Looney give me that Iron Man please and that’s with the playoffs so Dennis Young Blood on the sack chat would take Kevon Looney or Alex Len but the problem is you still have Alex Len so unless you’re gonna move off of Alex Len and then BR I I’m telling you I don’t think that this offense can handle Kevon Looney as the backup again he could not get time on the 10 seed that that’s what we’re talk a and a team that he’s been with for years so they wanted to give him time and and Draymond wasn’t playing that that that that that’s about it for me all right coming up next we have a just depends on what type of player you want but Frankie essentially said between Len and Looney he feels like it’s a wash they both do two different things yeah yeah I mean you know I wouldn’t say think of cavon Looney everybody’s probably just gonna laugh and say yeah we we know what cavon Looney can do so it probably wouldn’t be that big of a sell uh if they are even remotely interested right and it depends on the price tag last season totally to tyo on it last season Kavon Looney 4.5 points per game 5.7 rebounds per game 1.8 assists on 59% shooting he played 74 games averaged 16 minutes the good thing about Looney is he’s probably the biggest definition of knowing your role oh yes he is not over stepping any bound I’m going to tell you something right now though if you get annoyed with sabonis finishing at The Rim I can’t wait if if the Kings get Looney I have I already sit next to you anyway but I will just be staring at you when he smokes the thing that’s staring at me is career 61 and a half percent from the line also will he fit right in yeah he would fit right in he’ll fit right in from the eight through one if this is the case I would rather kick the tires on capella as a backup B that price tag is gonna be a little bit different and again I the only reason we did this is because Kavon Looney’s name came up he’s a champion he gave it to sabonis a couple years ago but I the LA backup center is not on my mind unless you’re talking about somebody who’s gonna be able to stretch the floor like one Brook Lopez or somebody like that but all these centers that are inside the arc and don’t really have a offensive bag I just we can talk about it after you make the big deal and part of making that big deal is going to take someone from the Kings or a couple players from the Kings but the question is who and Keegan Murray has been viewed as an Untouchable same with Jonathan kaminga in the Bay area so I had a little bit of fun Chris on social media because with my background I have followers right from both sides so I don’t know if if it’s the sac I don’t know if this is the Sacramento peeps starting to take over my feed and my following and Warrior fans saying this guy’s Sacramento now I don’t want to deal with it but I have some numbers here and Simone you can get in on this as well I said who’s going to be better when it’s all said and done Jonathan kaminga who is age 21 or Keegan Murray who is age 23 Simone’s answering some phones right now but we’ll start with You Chris I I mean it’s such a tough thing of like almost it’s almost a bigger question of you know do you believe what you’re seeing with your eyes right right now or are you somebody that that is looking a little bit into the future and and sees you know that kaminga is building a foundation of something that is going to you know benefit him moving forward right you know my feelings on kaminga I I think I think Keegan is going to be a better Pro and I only say that because I’ve seen more of I’ve seen more of Keegan obviously in terms of games viewed but also in terms of like I just feel like Keegan is expanding what he does a little bit more and I think if you are a shooter you’re just going to have a lot more leeway you’re going to have a bigger uh a a bigger Gap in terms of how bad you can be I think and um you know I think kinga’s got to develop his shot like he’s great around the rim but even Jaylen Brown had to learn how to shoot like at least a little bit and I don’t know if I see that for kaminga I know he’s so he’s still so young but all I’m seeing from kaminga really is is his scoring ability and his ability to just be an athlete around the rim I haven’t seen a ton more of the development but the argument could the counter could be he grew so much from year 20 to year 21 yeah what do you expect from year 21 to 22 and moving forward I think you should feel really good about what you just saw from Jonathan kaminga last season for the Warriors my struggle with honestly my struggle with kaminga which is similar to Keegan Murray in a way is is kaminga as everybody says there are dudes in this league who need a role there are dudes in this league who are just dudes and they can do whatever they want yes everybody thinks they have a dude right we did we did Keegan Murray Jason Tatum conversations and Chris almost pulled a Kyle Draper and walked out of the studio so we understand all that kaminga I don’t know I don’t think the Warriors know yeah and honestly they hope they they think that he’s a dude but I think in your opinion what you just described to you know who you just described to me he’s still playing who Derrik Jones Jr that’s who you just describ which is disrespectful I mean I think well yeah I almost disrespected derck Jones and said I think kaminga might be a better athlete but I don’t think that’s even true no and and I think I think Warrior fans they see you get a high flyer in there and everybody thinks oh my goodness this is the truth but they forget that they’re a bunch of every every team besides the Kings has one of those highflying wings so that that that’s kind of the situ but with Keegan as well there’s also the question of hey is he in the Michael Porter J path or or Klay Thompson or he’s just gonna be a shooter or how big is his bag supposed to get or should he just focus on what he does well right so I think both guys Keegan a couple years older than Jonathan kaminga the organizations that they are that they are connected to and and who they currently are they need to figure out who are you gonna be yeah you’re just going to be a really good version of uh I’m a I’m a three and D guy or are you going to try to be a dude so I I think that’s the tough thing who do you think the the voters swayed with and Simone we’ll get your thoughts on who you think won this round as well I would hope that your Sacramento contingency is starting to take over I’ll say I mean I’ll say Keegan because I do think that there’s I think there’s a large percentage of Kings fans that are in on Keegan and I do think that there is a certain percentage of Warrior fans that are also down on kaminga so I I’m goingon to say Keegan you want to give percentage uh I’ll say Keegan 56% I think it’s pretty close but I don’t think uh I do think that there’s some separation Simone as we’re going to just look at numbers will Keegan ever peek at that it’s a little also unfair because HB was like the only player on those really bad Dallas teams and then Keegan as it’s currently and Looney too I know TC was talking about size there Looney’s only listed at 69 as well so I I know he plays really big but he does not actually you know have the the size to uh to kind of do the things that that TC was kind of outlining there um and you know I’m curious let’s go back to my free agent bigs Target list and tell me if you would rather have these guys over cavon Looney and maybe you know yeah we can maybe discuss because there is some Nuance in all the conversations more so in terms of price point and things like that um you know Jonas valent chunis is probably the prime example of you know would you rather pay Jonas valent chunis 12 million or maybe Looney 3 million we can skip by that one um precious shua I think he’s somebody who’s like a more athletic cavon Looney I think they’re similar size but you look at how precious aoua plays and he plays just to get it he plays more like Kenneth fared though he’s not flying through the air like that but he is he is a bit of a leaper he’s really physical I personally would rather have precious aoua over cavon Looney both are free agents Whitey’s Jaylen Smith he’s a shooter he’s a young guy um he’s a seven-footer as well I would rather take a risk on Jaylen Smith Isaiah haren’s out of the conversation did you see those reports 20 mil Isaiah hardenstein in the year 2024 is apparently going to get a 20 million deal from OKC we’ll see about that TC just mentioned Andre Drummond I’d probably kick the tires on Andre Drummond before uh before cavon Looney uh Mason plumbley you could probably argue that’s a wash Daniel Ty I still would probably rather have Daniel TY but I I think that maybe Looney has the experience Edge over him goo Paz I’m really high on personally Luke cornette again it probably depends on what you’re looking at uh in terms of what you’re wanting Alex Len you’re on the lens side I think I’m on the lens side too Thomas Bryant that’s again kind of to me a wash I’m more trying to point out there’s a lot of different options there it’s not like cavon Looney is the only Center that’s in the Kings price range I just think that there’s going to be other better options and yeah cavon Looney’s fine and if he definitely I think TC’s right he definitely might end up a king I’m not going to be upset about it but personally I would like to explore some of those other options Kings fan on the sack chat is bringing up Nick Claxton and I think it’s just gonna be way out of your price range yeah he is a free agent here’s why not just open this can of worms we’re supposed to talk draft I don’t know we can probably get to it um Zack Ed not at 13 but like I would almost say I’d probably rather Kick the Can on Zack Ed if he’s still there in the second round probably not in the second round maybe even like move up and I don’t know move up or move down just as an example yeah I mean I don’t know again how realistic it is maybe just on its face I would maybe be willing to I would probably are you saying Zack Ed is the first player you take in the draft not saying at 13 but saying you drop down or whatever yeah more just saying for your team situation in general would you rather sign up for your team to test Zach Eed or to sign saying no so Zach okay well or Looney that’s just well then Zach Ed okay yeah no I mean I would take Zack Eed over kvon L yeah yeah that’s it that that’s but I don’t really want either of them that’s I’m more just saying as a as an exercise of how many other options I would rather have or kick the tires on versus L again I just think Looney is if he’s there if he’s available sure why not pick him up the familiarity all of it makes sense but I I would just much rather if the kings are going to heavily pursue a backup center I’m more just saying I think that there’s a lot of options and I think that there is also a decent bit of better options yeah I just yeah I I like Kon Loney I really do and a lot of people didn’t know what was going to happen with his career after those injuries and he turned him he transformed himself into a completely different player yeah with that being said for this king’s team I’d rather bring back Alex Len I mean if you’re if you want to bring in Kevon Looney instead of Alex Len you know to Frankie’s point we can have that conversation you’re not gonna bring both I I don’t I don’t know why I mean no there’d be no reason yeah the and I don’t even really know why there were two this past season with Alex Len and javil McGee so I guess anything is possible yeah I mean I think Alex has just kind of been that breaking case of emergency thing where you know they they were hoping javil would turn out and then it didn’t and they eventually went to Alex Len and we saw the same thing the year before where they literally they went rwn Holmes they went uh you know chimzi metu they went back to rwn Holmes and then they eventually eight games left in the season were like all right I guess we’ll try Alex Len so I guess maybe if Alex wants to sign up for that same situation again where you know yeah maybe they’ll try Looney because he’s young and he’s or younger he’s 28 and you know he’s got the familiarity with Mike Brown it’s almost carbon copy the javil McGee story and maybe if it doesn’t work out again you still have Alex Len there as an option I just at some point would re would like to get this thing squared away like sabonis is on a what four more year contract three Moree contract can we just sign a big that’s going to be sabonis is backup who can understand the role and understand what’s needed from them do you think Alex Lenn will be resigned he could I don’t think that there’s any guarantee he’s he’s like one of the last deals you would get done I would think there’s no like what what would be the urgency in in prioritizing Alex Lind well just to what you said just to get that you have a checklist and it’s not at the top of the checklist but yeah just to make sure okay cool we’re straight here we have our backup center I prioritize that last well I just don’t think they’ve decided don’t think Alex Len they would view as the backup center I think they would view him as the backup to the backup and then again if situation depends he can play for us but the plan is not for him to be we’re not going into the season saying yes Alex Len is our backup and and he doesn’t really have a market at this point where and if he does hey thank you for your service he’s going to Phoenix and gonna play for the vet minimum right right his role would essentially be the same I would think on any team he goes to think so maybe there’s more big needy teams that might give him a bigger opportunity but yeah I mean I wouldn’t think anybody looked at Alex Len last year and is saying like oh yeah he’s gonna be Isaiah hartenstein of this year you know I think everybody kind of knows what Alex Len is at this point and that’s a perfectly fine Center who can give you 13 minutes he’s 30 yeah no I mean he he’s in his prime or you can maybe argue that he’s exiting his prime right now but I think he’s still a usable player he should should still be in the league in my opinion I would think I liked what I saw from Alex Lenn last year yeah I did too I did too that’s why I just assumed he would be back but I think when you do have when you do have a a situation like this and when other players become available I think and we talked about taxes yesterday that best team in the league tax and you know there’s an LA tax there’s probably also a championship tax and I think Kavon is going to get that Championship tax very similar to JTA JTA they won the Warriors won and then JTA got signed to to Los Angeles so the Lakers and it didn’t last very long they got he got there and they said okay this isn’t necessarily what we thought it was and and you know JTA made its way over to the Kings and now he is trying I think he’s you know he’s playing I think still playing in Mexico or something like he’s doing the G league for Mexico City and now you have you know and I think the same thing will happen with Kavon Looney whether or not he he gets into a new building and he is the same guy from 2022 or not that is what remains to be seen and to your point I just think there are a lot of different options that the Warriors or excuse me Blazers heat Sixers Lakers magic so Tristan D Silva very much on the king’s radar at number 13 I’m pretty dang happy I can’t lie but but you know what would hurt even more is if we are in a situation like we were last year where I was just screaming for Olivier maxen prosper and the Kings take Olivia om omx prosper and uh then they trade him immediately so that would that would honestly be and then you know then they had the Robin Lopez situation for me I can’t deal with the Kings doing what I want them to do only to almost immediately go back on it anyways um yeah Jonathan gavone who is uh Draft Express and and you know has been in the draft game for years uh paired with Jeremy woo on this article formerly I believe of Yahoo uh and did Jonathan uh gavone gave the pick that fills the biggest need for this team and Jeremy woo select the pick that gets the most value or the best value out of that spot so for example for number one gavone says the pick that feels the biggest need for Atlanta is Donovan kingan uh but the pick that gets the best value out of that number one pick Jeremy woo has a Zachary reset uh and I won’t go through it for everybody but they both agree that Alex SAR is number two for Washington um they have It reversed for number three for for the Rockets where they have reset is the biggest need clinging as the biggest fit um and let’s see if there’s any other names before the kings that uh intrigue me here or else we can move on for uh the Blazers gavone has the pick that fills their biggest need is jacobe Walter um that’s definitely interesting and the pick that gets the most value at number seven Cody Williams for them so I think that’s really interesting uh you see let’s see here uh here we go for number 13 the Sacramento Kings wow this is actually interesting uh here for the pick that fills their greatest need Jonathan gavone has Jared McCain point guard out of Duke and this is of course about Malik monk Malik monk who finished second in the NBA six-man of the Year voting is entering unrestricted free agency in Sacramento might be priced out of retaining him because of salary cap rules enter McCain one of the best Shooters scorers in the draft who happens to hail from Sacramento M uh McCain I’m sorry uh has an easy Niche uh he can fill in the NBA with his scoring versatility basketball instincts competitive competitiveness and smarts making him an attractive option at 13 Jeremy woo for the pick that gets the best value also has Jared McCain at number 13 I personally prefer McCain uh wo writes to the guards left on the board in my scenario as Walter Dillingham and Isaiah Collier McCain might not be quite as flat or have the same level of upside but teams should know exactly what they’re getting he’s going to be he’s going to make shots and raise the basketball IQ of whoever else is on the floor with him and there’s intangibles there’s intangible upsides in that I really like that write up and and you know I I haven’t really thought of Jared McCain as somebody who’s kind of a u a force multiplier if you will where he’s on the floor and that you know he I haven’t really just considered his play making as a as a part of that evaluation um my my understanding was a lot of these guards yes they play point guard but they’re really a lot more of your Darius Garland point guards where they’re not really setting people up they’re more of uh more scoring than than playmaking oriented I haven’t looked a ton into Jared McCain but I have universally seen that he is one of if not the best shooter in the draft and I I do kind of think that that’s something that the kings are going to value and if you pair with that um in this writeup that that they say that Jared McCain um might not have a high upside but just already is a good basketball player he might be 20 years old which is not you know typically where Monty tends to lean with these things but if he’s an NBA ready guy ultimately I think that’s what the kings are looking for first and foremost maybe I should look more into Jared McCain is what I’m is what I’m learning today no no you shouldn’t okay you should Goa gotcha and I like Jared McCain but I’m I’m because they’re in a position where if they don’t they are just going to be a starless bad team and that’s the worst thing you can be at least right now they have Kade Cunningham as a possible lore to get somebody else in there if he’s not there nobody’s showing up so remember how remember how we had that conversation last week about the amount of money that the NBA is getting and how the salary cap may go up and these guys might be making a hundred million a year and things like that where where is the give and take as far as some of these contracts that we’ve discussed and teams finding a way to not put themselves in bad situations because look at Zach LaVine right the Bulls are stuck with Zack LaVine and 40 million a year more than that and nobody wants to pay that now and now the salary cap goes up but these guys can be making even more I just feel like they’re going to be a ton of bad contracts that these teams are gonna essentially be forced to give to these players and then if it doesn’t work out they’re going to be stuck with said players yeah no I mean bad contracts always exist like there’s no way of getting around it like Timothy mozgov was making $22 million a year at one point like Chandler Parson there’s nothing you can do to get out of to get teams out of their own way um but yeah I mean it’s just going to be on a bigger scale there’s ideally I mean ideally the Zack LaVine contract in two three years doesn’t look as bad because guys are going to be making 70 80 million and it’s going to be taking up less of the actual cap percentage I mean yeah I I think that there’s not really a way of of stopping it it’s just teams have to they have to stop just trying to lock up these Stars I mean they realistically need to have plans and I think that’s the kind of problem that Chicago found themselves in is is that they were floundering in the middle and instead of picking a route they decided to continue to go down the middle and the problem is yeah these teams prioritize being in like the the playin to the five seed Max over actually trying to compete for the championship and I think you’re always going to have that unfortunately but I I think the the hope is that your team just kind of stays out of that no man’s land but it it’s it’s an impossible situation I mean teams are always going to mess it up and uh yeah there’s always going to be two to three guys who are making way more than what they ever should because teams are are stupid I mean realistically teams make really really dumb decisions sometimes and you just hope that that team isn’t screen then they run an Iverson cut and then they’re gonna back door pick and roll high low screen they’re not really giving like the play byplay exactly because it’s happening so fast right they’re they’re flowing from offense to defense from transition to foul inbounds Baseline out of bounds they’re they’re flowing through so many different situations in real time that they’re only diving into like the real real specifics of a great Baseline out of bounds or a great side out of bounds or the strategy at the end of the game of who to foul who to trap who to get the ball out of their hand really in just like a handful of those moments and I find that super fascinating to like sit and learn as just like a basketball fan what are we doing that is incredible what are we doing this to that behind the back passes got the Kings on Sports Center but when they got Mike BBY that was when it was like okay we’re not here for the highlights the highlights will come but we’re here to win and this is a more winning player versus Jay will who has the highlights but you look at the numbers and the impact um and it just wasn’t quite there BBY was like we’re taking this thing seriously and we’re actually going to try and take down the Lakers something that nobody would even dare to try and do um and so that’s for for that on top of a million other reasons Mike BBY is absolutely one of my favorite point guards all who are you other four I’ve got AI on there for obvious reasons I mean honestly in terms of like you know if I’m I’m scaling it out like I’m not the biggest AI fan but I mean in order to you couldn’t have watched that of basketball and not loved alen Iverson for who he was I got Magic Johnson just because I think he’s criminally underrated all time um I feel like people obviously know how great magic is but I think there’s I’ve had a couple conversations with some with some ogs that say like you know Michael of course great but magic in terms of the individual kind of like what he was almost the LeBron argument before LeBron where it’s just as a player like everything he can do being 68 or 69 or whatever you want to list him as being the point guard in an era where that was just not even close to a thing uh obviously the flare he brought the winning he brought I think magic just has a really good case to be one of the best truly one of the best players of all time and I feel like in that top five he’s just not brought up enough I got Dame on my list I just think he’s a cold killer obviously all the four bar Friday stuff was super awesome a lot of the off the- floor stuff is why I love Dame and he’s also just a killer um I’m definitely not having Wardell on my list I’m having D Rose as my fifth point guard of my lifetime of course um I just think D Rose was so fun and if you had D Rose as your point guard I can’t imagine there being a funner experience than that yeah I’m sure that was I’m sure that was a just a ridiculous time for the Bulls I actually saw this thing and I I sent it to you and Chris got mad at me today because I sent him so much stuff I don’t actually read it first and then I’ll and then so we’re going over something and Chris is telling me and I said what was that from he said you sent it to me and that that’s just what happen but my but yeah Dereck Rose they AI generated Derrick Rose’s career no they Oakland fans they’re the best fans in the whole world and I’m not just saying it because I’m the Oakland mayor but like I go to so many different uh games all across the country or what have you and Oakland fan base is like no other the loyalty is so deep it runs in people’s DNA and you know even if they have to spend that check to buy two Jersey they will because like that’s that’s the meaningfulness of it right it’s just not about the money it’s about you know the quality of life and and the A’s reputation is part of their quality of life and so you know to have that be stripped away without without having a voice like it’s frustrating and it’s up to have your mayor say it’s frustrating and it’s bleeped up okay some people like it some people say while this is from just somebody on social media that had some things to say big Oakland A’s fan while I appreciate the passion I’m not sure I like bleeped up and bleeped off from a mayor of Oakland this is a UC Berkeley people might be a little upset at it but at the end of the day I I think that it’s more so showing the passion in the fact that she’s not just I am a robot who does what the constituents want like
