OT TV Tuesday hope you’re all having a wonderful Tuesday here uh we got a fun show plann for you this morning if you’re a baseball guy uh we’ll do something we haven’t done on this show yet I I apologize I’m sure um you know hunt and others have been keeping you up to date a ton on this current recruiting class but there’s a couple news pieces so I figure we can kind of run down the recruiting class see who are the guys you need be worried about coming up with the draft who’s going to sign right now LSU with the number two recruiting class in the nation so I’m excited to get into all that hour number two we’re going to kick it off with a kind of a a state of the union on the New Orleans Saints now that we will not see them again until the end of July I mean public practices right OTAs mini camp done a little break before we get into actual Camp of course we got OTB mailbag we got our guy Nick Underhill coming in at 9:00 a.m. as well to inform us of his opinion also um yeah they had a really good piece kind of wrapping up you know 10 thoughts after this portion of the off season and we’ll get to it let’s just say I’m feeling more and more confident by the day boys more all of my Derek car takes which crashed and burn last year are so back I mean just wait Jake you are about to be eating Caro when this is all said and done done uh how we feeling today guys I see what you did there yeah you like that not your worst little car now it’s bad um get a good Crow noise ready alry because every time he goes for 350 and four tuds we’re crowing it up every Monday I don’t need it yes what so I don’t need it no okay no no no damn it no no I need your support here you’re gonna need it a ton 350 might be a little heavy let’s say 265 and two touchdowns with no picks all right then we’ll play The Crow noise hell yeah so I just want to make sure I got it right yeah so a quarterback who’s been in the NFL for over a decade yeah basically on air when nobody can touch him he’s thriving hey do look do you remember uh I just want to make sure I got parameters right remember do you remember Rand cting ham with Randy Moss and Chris Carter because I do yeah I remember it yeah okay exactly he was in the NFL for a long time for that season yeah he was really good with the Eagles before then too he was okay with the Eagles he’s about Derek hard the Raiders with the Eagles couple Pro bowls mixed in sir yeah look it up couple Pro bowls look it up Sir look it up are you telling me that D car with the Raiders was the same player as Randall Cunningham with the Eagles not stylistically but uh success– wise yes that’s exactly what I’m telling you remember um Michael Vic randomly turned into an MVP passer that one year huh remember that I remember okay and that was after a a pretty long career as well so yeah look what do you always say an old dog can’t learn new tricks but an old dog can tricky every once in a while oh boy that sounds like Derek but the whole point of me bringing up him being in the league for a decade and having success in OTAs is he should have success in OTAs because and he is he’s a veteran quarterback and also he can’t get touched I’ll reiterate that what does he struggle with getting tou in a new sexy offense it’s going to protect him better than ever feeling very bullish about Derek Carr and the New Orleans Saints how are you two feeling back there honestly I hate to bring like off a stuff on the air but I’m like just so disgusted I’m so disgusted by Taylor’s actions this morning I call me out Sher you talking about the orange monster no but that’s a choice too no poor Jake has his back broken oh yeah yeah yeah yeah I was going to bring this up J’s back is thrown out really bad he’s hurting freaking fighting through it every day you go get your own Mic Taylor didn’t even set up his mic today he he made he made him carry it himself set up t- Bobs I think just to try to flex on me yeah yeah just a little uh subtle he subtle negging there from Taylor do you have anything to say for yourself yeah so the actual story of what happened this happens all the time because I’m an idiot and you know yes I have a morning routine I’m I’m typically pretty good at the routine but every now and then I just forget Jake’s mic it’s cuz you didn’t go at NOS this morning I explained you don’t always have to break out the big guns tbab I didn’t think I needed the big guns this morning turns out I do but to Jake’s credit he never complains like and every time I see it I’m surprised he just walks out the room and I’m like where’s jako I turn around and I’m like oh yeah didn’t set up his mic because this is the only show with Two Hosts so that mic never moves it’s always there now we’re going to have to show uh now we’re going to have to show on a loop the highlights of Lorenz o Neil lead blocking for Mike allot it’s the only way to make Jake feel better after you’ve ruined his morning what a great clip that was it was a great clip the weekend I was like oh man yeah that that was that was when when men were men that’s like the the Gucci version of what like me and Mike told kind of were like two fullbacks back there at the same like we were the Great Value version yes yeah yeah yeah no you were the Kirkland brand I’ll take that you were Kirkland brand but we were two fullbacks in there at the same time pretty often hell yeah and look I I I actually didn’t I didn’t realize that Lorenz O’Neil was all STS lead blocker a lot of times back in the day that’s on me shout out Lorenz o’ Neil I guess we could play that later so people know what we’re talking about it’s just like really manly football you know the Saints drafted L Neil to be a running back uh I did not know that yeah so what happened uh uh he turned fullback or did they use him for a while I’m trying to remember I don’t remember when O’Neal on the saint that much you know what it might have been when you’re pops was there I’ll check I’ll in fact check that Lorenzo Neil’s that old what that doesn’t that’s crazy to me um well he’d have been like you know maybe a rookie towards 93 fourth round the 93 draft okay that would have been that would have been right when he went to Atlanta okay so so they might have barely missed maybe that was to try to replace Ironhead Hayward who would have also left around that time to uh to go to Atlanta um College World Series yesterday uh you had uh Texas A&M behind a dominant Ryan Prager performance advance in the winners bracket uh they are now 2 and0 having beaten our Kentucky Wildcats 5 to one it seems like all the bad guys are winning right now guys I don’t like it Florida survives an elimination game 54 over our other darling NC State the wolf pack no longer too sweet uh they are headed home Florida advances they’ll play Kentucky an elimination game today that’s going to be at 6 tonight and then UNCC and FSU are going to play at 1 uh in an elimination game so yeah I don’t love how it looks with uh Florida still alive and threatening uh Tennessee 2- 0 and Texas A&M 2-0 it’s literally all all the teams that we wanted to lose and crash and burn and fail and they’re all trending really well it’s not great Bob not great it’s not what we wanted uh but you know I mean last year team went into the losers bracket and fought its way back and won a national championship so who’s to say maybe the Kentucky Wildcats can’t do the same yeah yeah who’s to say except that like what like 27 last 33 Natty Champs have started 2 and0 it’s exceedingly rare to do it El did last year at least maybe even Florida w win but yeah exactly but also uh the number one team hasn’t won since 99 and so you know you got some stats on your side true true um how you feel like if UNC ended up winning it uh at at this point well I was just about to say I you know me I have no SEC Pride if you do have sec Pride maybe you’re liking how this tournament is going because it really is establishing the overall dominance with the power two going head-to-head here in the SEC winning a lot of these early tilts at this point regardless of how I feel about the pain of what went down in Bosch in Chapel Hill um yeah in a lot of ways the tar heill feel the tar Hills feel like the lesser of many evils yeah right it’s like like our only our only teams that I can have any uh positive feeling for would be Kentucky now and uh and UNC so here’s I mean I guess FSU I don’t really care about too much that’s fine as well um uh but again another school that El she’s kind of suffered at the hands of and in recent memory uh so yeah I guess UNC FSU and Kentucky we still got a few that I can uh drum up some positive feelings for basically we’re just not trying to get to a Tennessee Texas A&M final H disgusting I mean I guess in that hypothetical um I think is hold hold is& M the hold up we played this game yesterday did with Florida in A&M and we said we want A&M to win we went A&M in that scenario all right Tennessee or Texas A&M to win a National Championship alra is there a third option no like ending it all no the think about Tennessee fans are hold on hold on hold I think I’m going to go God it’s so hard to put my hate for the aies aside but I hate the balls too okay I’m going to go with Tennessee all right Taylor so for me I look at it like I hate different teams in different sports if this was football Tennessee I’d rather A&M winning baseball okay I’m not a Tony guy at all tbba I kind of feel the same for well okay so I I had considered that Tony V is a good enough coach with kind of enough of a cool Factor he’s really good at recruiting being really good at the portal if you give him a national championship you’re going to empower him to a level that I really don’t like uh my my original answer when you asked this questions when came into my head was I think there’s a bit of a disconnect uh in how or well there’s a difference in how I feel about A&M fans and Tennessee fans in that I think Tennessee fans have a bit of unearned Cockiness right they’re they they they think they’re very badass but don’t have a ton to show for it like A&M it’s weird A&M doesn’t necessarily believe that they’re super good they’re just obsessed with their school and I can kind of appreciate that in a way like like they because they’ve been bad and yet the fans are still obsessed with every single sport they play in and and there’s something a bit admirable but grudgingly about that whereas you Empower Tennessee with a national championship and they’ll just I don’t know man it’s never ever shut up and it’ll it’ll it’ll it’ll uh validate what I believe to be all these unearned feelings of Supremacy so as crazy as this sounds I think I would actually rather Texas A&M win over Tennessee which is never a place that I thought I would be see has stain power uh they definitely have stain power now probably does I think they probably do as well but I don’t think to the extent because again I think Tony V is probably a top five coach in the entire country when we started this this conversation I actually was going to choose Tennessee because I’m like well they’re kind of already there they’re kind of already like getting a lot of recruits they’re already doing really well in the portal they kind of got some juice but T-Bob you changed my mind when you said you know having that National Championship brings you to another level because you are right that gets you indoors like right now 90% of the doors are open for you you get a Natty and now 100% of the doors are open to you and at the end of the day Texas A&M can probably go make a run and and be really good for a long time but there’s also some people that are going to look at Texas A&M and say that place is not for me like that place has a lot of stuff that they do that I don’t really jive with yeah so cooler than does yes so for that reason I’m going to go Texas A&M as well uh the only thing that would worry me about A&M is they are so desperate in terms of staying power they are so desperate for a championship if they finally get across the finish line and winati uh the economic investment that that could drum up at that school could be a bit worrying given that if you’re going head-to-head and bidding wars with guys from California which is as we’re going to see when we break down this class going to continue to be the kind of order of the day as all West Coast baseball transfers to the southeast uh I I I I don’t want to be forced to get into too many bidding wars with the Aggies because those are not ones that you will um win more often than not so uh it’s looking pretty pretty evil uh Omaha is right now but it’s still great having it on and everything yesterday I didn’t watch any of the Euros yesterday Jake any any big takeaways from yesterday’s match you didn’t watch any of it no man I had a um it was really good uh I don’t know what I did yesterday feel like well probably sloppy joe hang with my kids all day I did do I did I did find that little hair of the dog goes a long way with some Sloppy Joe’s there you go the final sloppy joe kind of eased me into nice uh a nice landing as I uh I I finally feel better once again but I needed that final one to just kind of even me out keep me a little even Keel if you will uh so real quick Euros we were talking about it during the show yesterday Romania beats Ukraine 3-0 and then the second game is the largest upset in Euro history as Slovakia takes down Belgium one to nil the 48th ranked team in the world Slovakia takes down the number three ranked team Belgium again the biggest upset in Euro history and then the finale yesterday France beats Austria 1 to nil on an own goal but it was a very very exciting game Austria is the real deal as well now France is the favorite in this tournament but I mean they were right there with uh with France and you know one mistake cost them the game but they challenged all game long so yeah yesterday was an exciting day is mbappe he’s on the edge of returning from I feel like some headlines that I’ve read or no he he was there he he played he actually got a a pretty wicked uh shoulder to the head and had a bloody nose and had to get out of the game cuz they couldn’t stop it how tough how do how’s he ever going to play again congrats to these soccer players um uh so look we can get into some more Euros in hour three let’s do this uh let’s go to break here and then when we get back a a big name hitting the transfer portal single sport has now won multiple uh championships so I guess congrats I don’t know and then you got all these fake Celtics fans like Chuck Nelson running around who’s somehow a Cowboys fan a Celtics fan and a Yankees fan it’s absolute yeah yeah and I I know he’s very triggered that he can’t be here to defend himself because he’ll give you a 30 minute diet tribe about why he ended up the way he is but uh whatever screw the Celtics dude people like that is why I take crap for being a Cowboys fan uh I will say I’m kind of happy for Al Horford even being a Florida Gator I mean just to to I can appreciate somebody grinding that long and at 38 years old after putting so much good hardfought basketball into the play he finally gets that ring and gets that lifted trophy but yeah whatever those are the only people that uh that I’m happy for um all right let’s get to some LSU baseball updates as Brady Neil has hit the transfer portal and uh this one was a bit surprising to me simply in that I feel like uh Jay Johnson really liked Brady Neil I feel like Brady Neil had a ton of opportunity here at LSU remember we talked about some of the early transfers uh and it was like yeah this makes sense right these are guys that have not had playing time and their time’s running out and they want to play like I I get it uh but in Brady Neil you’re talking about a guy who when he wasn’t hurt always played I mean 44 50 60 starts somewhere around there um and now uh and look like if you want to ask why it’s it’s it’s near impossible to answer from outside looking in uh maybe there’s too many injuries maybe there’s a bit too much drama I don’t know I I don’t know what the case is but it’s interesting from a year-to-year basis in that we entered this season saying your cup overfloweth at catcher when you talk about having trinsky and milazo and Brady Neil all coming back and now um you have bodies but there’s they’re they’re they’re kind of relatively unproven right um You got the J Cod transfer Blaze prester uh that that that’s the cat who was here at elu left former live o guy came back um you have Luis Hernandez who just signed from Indiana State their power hitter I think he’s kind of a catcher DH like a little bit of a travinsky type guy and now uh we’ll get to the recruiting class in a bit but you got to try to get Cade uh aramba I don’t know if I’m saying that correctly um to come to school he’s the top high school catcher in this Summer’s MLB draft but he’s not one of the guys that is just guaranteed to go to the to to to go play professional baseball immediately so if you could get Cade here well then you’d have three more names competing uh for that job reaction to Brady Neil deciding to uh take his talent elsewhere I’m like you are I’m a little bit surprised because he did have multiple opportunities to play like as long long as he’s been here starting as a freshman I mean he was somebody that Jay Johnson talked glowingly about every time that he talked about him you could tell like he sit up in his seat a little bit get a little excited about talking Brady Neil and even this year like he went through some struggles but when healthy oftentimes he was out there even at the end of the season you put him in there in the regional he gets hot and you stick with him and so like he was in there till the very end and you you were in this crowded crowded you know position battle and look you won it your freshman year and your sophomore year you got some run as well and now that that’s clear that’s when you decide to leave so it is a little bit surprising uh he certainly had some success here in an LSU uniform he would have without question I think I mean unless I’m missing something he would have been the day one starter in the fall whenever they reconvene over there in the box and so it is surprising to see this name and now it’s a position like you laid out T where you had a surplus maybe more than anybody in the country and now you’re searching for a starter some bodies some depth I mean you kind of need it all at this point what do you think doomed Brady Neil eventually uh in the end uh was it was it his defense I mean I try to think about kind of the Brady Neil moments defensively and I’m not calling up too much off the top of my head um in fact I’m probably guilty of only and now a bit of this is like negative confirmation bias maybe where uh the bad stuff stands out so much more than the good but I mean it does feel like again to my Layman’s eyes that outside looking in that was an area in the game in which he never quite fully came into his own so may maybe during exit meetings or talk I want to get more defensive that position I I I I don’t know but again Brady Neil like even Javin Coleman I understand right uh Coleman seemed like he had all the potential in the world early on he catches an injury it kind of upsets everything and even though he plays again after that never like you kept expecting Coleman to break through and maybe be that consistent Lefty um maybe like a midweek starter somebody that going to use regionals and whatnot and he had those opportunities but it never it never worked right and so him leaving again that made sense Neil is the first transfer maybe cam Johnson as well simply because he was so young you figured that he that that you could maybe kept him around for further development but uh but yeah so Brady Neil though the most surprising exit to me thus far far um but as I said roster building uh giveth and taketh away and the giveth part of this is that Derek curiel announces yesterday that he is coming to Baton Rouge just an outfield Prospect played on the uh Team USA under 18 team um started seven games at center field for that team hit like 240 there but uh he’s the number 10 overall Prospect in the country um so that’s big time he’s the number one 11 17 MLB Prospect so like that that’s kind of exactly what a a college baseball coach is looking for right somebody who ranks very highly uh in relation to their their high school peers but maybe not Uber Uber high on the MLB draft board therefore kind of incentivizing him to uh return to LSU so curiel’s going to be joining up and now you look at the Outfield you’re going to be bringing a bear next year uh Larsson Jake Brown Ethan fry Mike Paul all back you added Daniel Harden from Jo uh Josh Pearson could potentially return I I hav really consider that we’ll see what happens with ends up happen with Pearson doesn’t want to play with his little brother because John Pearson from Western row as we know gonna be joined as well and um you signed Conor Griffin the Gatorade National player of the year however he’s going to be a top 10 pick in the MLB draft and so there’s basically a 0% chance that Griffin will come there so you’re probably looking at curiel Larsson Brown Fry Paul Harden and maybe the Pearson Bros as your uh kind of pool that you’ll be selecting from when it comes to the Outfield yeah just looking at uh you know a couple of the members of the signing class I mean it’s the who who like it like it has been for years but I mean you get big news yesterday I mean you’re talking about somebody who ranked number five overall for the 2024 MLB draft with prospects live ranked top National player by perfect game I mean you’re getting somebody that you would have assumed had no chance of getting to school so that’s that’s big news and we talked about it yesterday you’re not going to totally go away from recruiting guys like this because every once in a while this will happen yeah like you’ll get one of them to campus I just think Jay’s G to change his model a bit where he gets more veteran transfers to come in to be able to you know fill in the gaps because you’re going to miss like you mentioned like Conor Griffin probably not coming to school so you’re going to miss on that so he’s going to go get somebody who’s you know played at Indiana State or wherever they’ve played play and that’s where they’re going to supplement you know that position that player somebody they were counting on with but still try to go get the top high school guys because you’re going to get you know the top rated player according to perfect game or at least National player to come in and go to school for three years um Cham of the chat says El is a generational catcher that’s all but 100% coming in uh that’s Cade that we just mentioned Gatorade Player of the Year in Texas top high school catcher in the draft uh w attractive part about LSU now the Brady Neil exit is that if you are kind of a freshman Phenom and you have the confidence of um I you know I want to go play immediately the path to the field would be wide open for Cade so um we will see also Chad saying that Brady Neil had a 9990 field percentage masso 995 so may maybe I’m over stating uh Neil’s defensive struggles again like I said to my Layman’s eyes it just felt that way times but maybe I’m just guilty of looking at some of the bigger moments in which things went arai and uh and painting too large of a picture with said moments um let’s do this let’s go to break and then let’s run down this recruiting class as it stands right now ahead of the draft who’s going to be coming in who you be on the lookout maybe to go and who should you be uh excited about uh champ says Jay’s going to bring in a transfer catcher to be the guy with the Freshman struggles well again I mean I guess he’s already attempted that some with um with bringing in uh Blaze at bats n frame pitchers better than most other catchers not even close uh yeah look I mean you know me I I we we said that we think that molo’s kind of rise in the second half of the season was one of the core uh reasons why LSU did start to play uh so well um all right let’s get into this recruiting class and we’ll start because right now LS is the number two recruiting class in the entire nation when it comes to baseball and it starts with Conor Griffin uh again top 10 MLB pick this guy’s awesome there’s no chance that he’s going to make it to LSU uh if you’re a top 10 pick why would you right I get it um next on the list cam CTI how about that Jake oh man cousin of former MLP uh MVP Ken CTI Ken cinti had a rocket from third base good name too yeah great name I Love Ken and cam too as well uh but cam cam is the top left-handed High School pitcher in the country he struck out 119 in 52 Innings as last year 0.93 erra he too will almost assuredly not end up at LSU yeah um the first name that is probably the biggest MLB prospect that could end up at LSU would be William Schmidt right-handed pitcher from kakai right here in uh Baton Rouge he’s got a 0.44 ER 1002 K in 62 Innings he’s a top 30 MLB Prospect but given his Baton Rouge time he loves LSU he actually I love this little note that I found in the advocate he attended the regional in Chapel Hill so there is some you know there there is some fanhood love certainly for uh Billy Schmidt there it’s just a question of what’s the money like and what is what what is he being offered inil wise where does he think his best path to make the mes is because again it’s not a purely monetary decision like I I do also agree with the take that maybe College if you you know it can go Ary um certainly we we’ve seen the the the wor who was the old uh Maurice Hampton’s kind of the worst example of this turning down two million out of high school and never really attaining that that sort of offer again but in terms of just making it to the pros I think there are arguments be made that college is arguably a better path than the minors at times still uh William Schmidt is someone who you should be watching very closely be very excited about if he ends up in uh in Baton Rouge yeah looking at MLB they’ve got Conor Griffin going ninth overall to the Pirates uh they’ve got CTI going 11th overall uh to the Tigers right so that’s two of the guys that we talked about I want to say I saw Schmidt on here I know he’s a first round pick but so like that’s that’s the challenge whenever you get players like this like how many can you get to campus how many are you going to lose and it’s look it’s been going on forever it’s you know it’s it’s a back and forth I remember talking with Paul maner about this many many times uh Schmidt by the way diamond yeah Diamond Backs 31st overall according to mlb.com that’s I mean he was he was like two weeks ago when I looked into this he was in the teenss so maybe maybe there’s some idea out there that maybe he’s kind of I remember seeing him and he was actually mocked ahead of uh Tommy White now as I understand the draft though uh if he ends up getting drafted in the first what is it in the first three rounds then basically the team already knows that they’re going to sign right like like like they have those conversations beforehand and so if you see Smith dropping most of the time yeah that’s a uh that that’s a good sign because it means that maybe he’s telling teams look I’m I’m I’m thinking that I I want to go play college basb Kumar rocker got drafted and then didn’t sign I mean we’ve seen JD Drew got drafted and didn’t sign like we’ve seen it happened before but yeah to your point often times it yeah top three rounds you’re signing um let’s let’s let’s do this uh let’s go to yeah look here GF South smid has been falling down draft boards recently going from top 10 to the bottom of the first top of the second lately okay so you know maybe maybe that’s all to show up Not only would there be awesome names but combined with Chase Shores you would have four pitchers six seven or above 267 168 169 just for May pure step off the bus standpoint that would be pretty damn intimidating be a hell of a wreck basketball team as well yes they would be very good in that regard yes they would I need Maverick Grizzy now to show on Camp fantastic name 69 um other names to look out for heel kale fountain at third is a uh very exciting prospect here he’s top 125 Prospect uh he broke the Nebraska prep career home run record in just three years of play um he’s ranked his the top player in Nebraska he could be kind of one of the next great power hitters and when you look at Tommy White leaving that’s obviously what you’re trying to replace and he plays third so uh kale Fountain definitely a name to uh stay on the lookout for this like this is a time where you you know have more I don’t want to say leverage because you don’t have necessarily the leverage but you have the ability with NI and different you know things that are now legal in the NCAA in baseball because before like what could you really offer them like an opportunity a chance to you know better yourself and maybe you’ll go from 75th to top 10 yeah right that’s that’s not that intriguing to a player that’s you know going to get drafted pretty high but now you at least have a Fighter’s chance yeah it’s it’s like we said man uh the pitch is strong in that uh you can make a little money now um sometimes more than a little uh but also so you you get the college experience right I mean regardless of how you feel um about money when you go straight into the into an MLB farm system um you’re forcing yourself to grow up immediately you you you you don’t kind of get the traditional uh pathway that a lot of uh fortunate I should say uh younger people do where you get to go to college you get to kind of find yourself if you’re a baseball player uh you get the kind of Big Man on Campus sort of feel you’re going to have way better facilities than you would in these minor league teams we always talk about you know busing and playing in front of a couple hundred people vers flying and look at the crowds at this College World Series I mean they are absolutely electric so again and nobody understands this pitch better than Jay Johnson so I think it is a strong one that he’s throwing out there uh like Robbie once said I’m a big fan of money I like it I use it I have a little I keep it in a jar on top of my refrigerator I’d like to put more money in that jar uh I think we all would uh the last name I would mention here um although again there’s a lot of good players in this class Landon Victorian from Barb High School righty actually got expelled from Barb for when you get in a routine and you’re used to doing something and you know those endorphins come from working out and it is uh I find the more kids you have the more you like working out because it is the only thing that keeps you sane like I I I feel like I have to work out in order to stay in a good mood to deal with my family otherwise I come get grumpy and snappy um so good luck dude I don’t know uh okay what if I uh was a magical hedge witch or hedge Wizard and I could offer you a deal in which your back would be healed but you would have Landon Donovan’s hair on National Television what are you taking put up the picture uh if you have not seen it this was Donovan’s look at the Euros yesterday uh it the only if you’re listening on radio the only way I can describe it is it looks like he’s a rookie at an NFL training camp and they made him do one of those goofy we’re going to shave your head shave the we’re going to make you look like a medieval monk it is a shockingly shockingly bad hair setup I I I don’t understand it there’s still a random streak of hair hanging on for its life that extends from the top of his head to his sideburns but then it looks like he like got a fade but then stopped halfway through but then on the top there’s nothing but the vestiges of wisps of hair hanging on and this man is going on I mean what I mean Global Millions upon millions of people around the world are are watching this yeah I mean it’s one of them it’s going to be one of the most watched things of the entire calendar year is the euros and so when I saw this I’m like dang did LD sit down and start to get a fade and then said you know what I I’m not that guy or did he sit down and say you know what it’s time I mean to be fa yeah it’s like if if he was going for a fade that I I would that would be the most questionable choice of of all because Fades are supposed to taper into all the hair on the top right he literally has nothing left true on the top did he think we weren’t going to be able to see his head I don’t know actually well it’s funny that you asked that um can we put up the other picture so he was having a conversation uh with Mike McGee who is a really good soccer player retired a couple years ago probably has best time with the Galaxy was national team member as well but so him and Landon are boys yeah yeah yeah yeah they’re boys I like how he he has I like how he has him saved in his phone Landon Donovan then with a goat Emoji right afterwards which yes he is the he is the himmer Clint dimsey probably the the US MNT best player of all time so Mike says LD check Twitter ASAP and probably fire your Barber legit and then with a smiley emoji and then Donovan hits back with like the the hand on the face he says Where Were You 7 hours ago had a hair transplant procedure to weeks ago and was told it wouldn’t show up on camera fire them I mean who’s who’s did the hair he’s Rafa Marquez CUA uh he must got one too yeah he said he responds said who told you that Rafa Marquez I would have said who told you that Carlos Boozer and then there’s multiple crying emojis Donovan uh flipping him off with an emoji and then he said can I post this this is the best part Donovan says whatever I deserve it good night Mo what I don’t get about not showing up on camera is again it it it leaps off the screen yeah um there’s nothing subtle about it and and we were trying to work out the hair transplant angle as well and normally when somebody gets a hair transplant it looks kind of like painful and bloody and you see those like dots everywhere um you see it maybe looks like some dots around the back but I don’t see anything up top maybe maybe maybe it’s two weeks ago maybe they’ve already healed and now you’re just waiting for the rest to come in oh guess can you not shave the rest of it though because you’re worried that the rest won’t grow back I I I just I know how insecure I have felt at times if you have to go do something that’s in the public face you know with with just thousands of people may be watching yeah and you have anything wrong with your outfit or your look that you’re just not vibing with I cannot fathom the amount of insecurity and anger he was dealing with looking in the mirror right before he had to go on screen there yeah and like if you didn’t think it was going to be on camera again like you turned your head too much and so like you were going to have to always look straight ahead but also spray paint or they get like a little fiber things right well be careful be careful with the spray paint that’s how you end up like Carlos Boozer no I know for sure can you pull up the Boozer hair it’s uh some of the it’s some of the all-time great bad hair that’s ever been done before uh and Boozer as well blamed a Barber that he trusted that that kind of led him astray I do appreciate Donovan saying yeah posted I deserve it whatever go ahead yes yes alpha male move um own it you know there’s no running from it there’s no hiding from it uh also again Lon Donovan doesn’t need great hair to legitimize his Sports commentary but yeah still just a wild like it’s the type of hair that if you just saw that person walking around you would think there’s mental instability there like there’s no way that you walked out of the house or went to the cut and said yeah cut me up like this and then and then walked out feeling good but what I don’t understand is that like you can see it in person I don’t know what made you think that you couldn’t see it on camera thought it was going to be hidden and maybe that’s why only the backs got what Jake is saying is maybe not wrong and maybe that was the technique as to why they left it but if they uh it like if it is straight on you really might not be able to tell he would just look bald on the top because he would still have that little vestage of hair hanging out at each side but from the side it looks awful I don’t know and there is car and that’s not even the best Boozer picture that you can find but there is boozer’s h no you got it you can leave it up there there is boozers just spray painted hairline uh for that game the one that you’re talking about is next level yeah yeah that look that actually didn’t look that awful on the Boozer front so shout out Lon Donovan though okay um oh look at that two nights later he sweat it all off but uh shout out LD you’re still the man Lon don’t don’t let anybody get you down all right let’s talk a little New Orleans Saints football here uh New Orleans football had a really good article called 10 things we learned from the Saints offseason program Derek Carr and the new offense looks like the ideal match so let’s get into the 10 things and see how you feel about thing number one Derek Carr is a good match for this offense many of the reeds are pred the office to talk about well yes like Jake talk about he’s a he’s a smart vet right um and thus far without pressure and on air uh he has looked very comfortable making quick decisions uh my I talked to my old man and uh he’s look I know a lot of people are going to want to paint him as a car Fanboy or whatever but I feel like he’s always kept it pretty real with the quarterback position remember he’s the one that basically was like jamus actually isn’t practicing that good and Andy Dalton actually is practicing really good yeah and you saw how that ended up working out right well he says in six practices he thre saw Derek Carr throw one bad pass one bad pass the entire time um even so go so going so far as say that Drew Brees would struggle to do the same uh so Derek Carr feeling great he looks good point number two new offense looks effective uh it’s everything that we thought it’ be a lot of play action a lot of motion everything built off of the running game and therefore arguably better exited to take advantage of Carr being that look Derek Carr’s been a very good play action quarterback in his career and it makes sense like a player who like you know not a Next Level Transcendent quarterback not somebody who’s going to just create and make everything happen on his own help him out a little bit it was one of the more baffling parts of what the saints were doing last year is in 2021 Derek Carr had the highest qbr and highest completion percentage in the NFL on play action and what did the Saints do they break them in and they ran less play action than anybody in the entire league um so when you can’t run the ball too so that’s what I was going to say I love all of this but then it immediately does become Jake they have to be able to run the ball without our question it has to be it has to be the thing that they improve the most on and this offense has a lot of room in a lot of different areas to improve on but they have to be able to run the football because of everything that you just laid out like this San Francisco 49ers offense that they’re bringing to New Orleans like you watch them and yeah they’ve got receivers they’ve got tight ends they’ve got a lot of good things going their way that are on the outside on the edges but it all starts with seac running the football yeah it sets up everything all the Motions all the shifts all the play action all the things they do well it’s because teams are terrified that if they hand the ball off to Christian mcaffrey he’s going to make them pay they have to get that with the Saints running game now Albert CRA we talked about it yesterday we don’t know where that lies but regardless of who the running back is if you don’t get that done then you’re not going to see this offense in full effect um so again everything with this off like yes if you want all of these Concepts to work you have to be able to run the ball and really that is going to be the base of this team which again is a good thing for somebody like Trevor Penning we we’ll get to him in a little bit on this list uh number three on nor football’s 10 observations the wide receiver picture still shaping up Chris looks great of course Sal um Rasheed Shahed still a deep threat uh but behind him somebody’s gonna have to step up at Perry’s kind of taking that he’s kind of first in line but reportedly Cedric Wilson and ecenia St Brown are kind of right there on his back again I don’t know who wins that battle but in terms of replacing Mike Thomas who when he played was still effective for your average NFL wide receiver Maybe not just given what we seen Mike Thomas do in the past uh one of those guys needs to emerge do yall have any feelings as to whether it’ll be Perry Cedric Wilson or ecomania St Brown I mean I like Perry I liked him going into last year’s NFL Draft whenever we finished up in Kansas City I want to say it might have been the end of the second round maybe it was the end of the third but no second round and you’re like hey give me some players to look out for on tomorrow’s you know coverage I was like well at Perry and then he lasted till the fifth round yeah and this is a player that is really talented uh he had big moments at Wake Forest him and Sam Hartman had a great connection I think there’s still a lot left for him to grow as a better player and he actually played pretty well at times a year ago so you’ve got some veteran guys that if he doesn’t make that jump that we’re expecting they’ll step in and they’ll kind of solidify that position you kind of know what the ceiling and floor is going to be with both those other veteran players but with at Perry I still think there’s a very high ceiling um look at the link under the tesm segment here and have that ready to go with sound because Cedric Wilson does get mentioned kind of unbidden by Clint kubak and it’s interesting when paired with the comments from Mike McDaniel coming from Miami where Cedric Wilson didn’t have crazy stats but McDaniel was pretty effusive in his praise about Wilson uh Point number four Pete Warner battling hard talking about Pete consistently making plays of course look as you prepare to uh out of the de Mario Davis era whenever that happens you know whatever I hope it never happens but it will somehow even though he’s putting it to the test how much you could battle father time remember you you signed Willie Gay Jr to kind of push Warner it appears that that’s working those two are competing well um of course Point number five is easy this secondary depth stands out uh and we’ve talked about it before multiple times here on the show but between marshan lore Paulson Neo Tyron Matthew elante Taylor Jordan how and Kool-Aid mckinstry which granted how mckeny we haven’t seen this off season yet that’s a big time group uh they’re not as much of an outlier good as something like the LSU offensive line compared to the rest of college football but I firmly believe that is a top five secondary in the entire NFL and will be the strength of this New Orleans Saints team I don’t think there’s you know there’s not much debate for that because not only do you have talented players you have players that have already done it for the most part outside of Kool-Aid on on this stage at this level but also you have versatile players you got three guys that I think can do a lot of different things like like lore is going to be your top Corner he’s going to go against probably the best receiver if you do decide to travel him but you’ve got like three players certainly elante Taylor and Kola and mcken like they are guys that can move around a little bit inside outside and koola can even give you some safety help if you decide to take you know Jordan off the field and maybe some of those sub downs and keep tyon as the only true safety on the field so you got the ability to really move some different guys around create some different matchups uh you know Kool-Aid is’s a big body too so if you want to decide to put him at the tight end spot because you’ve got some really good ones in your division so well some with Talent like we need to see Kyle Pitts maybe go up a level but he’s a very talented player so that defensive back field has talent they’ve got some more experience they got some versatility like it’s a top unit in the league for sure like it’s in that conversation uh number six maybe my favorite of the 10 which is is it’s tm’s time uh we mentioned the creativity of uh of course San Francisco and just using the weapons that they have in interesting ways uh Clint kubak has now been handed made the most unique weapon in the NFL and the staff has been using them all over the place uh Nick going so far right quote ton we’ll get the ball in ways we’ve never seen before and this kind of reminds me when we were reading about that two-minute drill that we made way too too much out of the other day where I put my nuts in the line for Derek Carr but the interesting T in there was that Hill had what like six catches on that drive like four or five so it sounds like they really want to feature T Mill here is what Clint kubak had to say about the Swiss army man um he’s he’s obviously a highly intelligent player that’s been coached extremely well so there’s a lot of carryover in his knowledge and then his his effort and his attention to detail was excellent this whole offseason so um you know I appreciate the work that he put into it and I appreciate you know our coaches our coaching staff’s creativity and and trying to get him at a lot of spots but you know he’s no different than other there’s you know our receivers that have play three different positions so um you know so there’s guys like like uh like Cedric Cedric Wilson that’s a really really intelligent guy that’s played a lot of spots too maybe doesn’t get as much of the credit but I would compliment him as well you know as well as our you know our offensive lineman that are playing Center and guard so you know uh but yeah Tes T’s done a great job this offseason want to read too much into things it’s really good for cedri Wilson I’d say also maybe not the best for the tackles but feels good for salivary McCoy and Ruiz that maybe theyve taken well to this offense um speaking of the O line8 uh o line or excuse me this 7 o Line’s still a little murky fanga looks like he’ll be solid sou ofar is trending towards solidity um here’s what they wrote about Trevor Penning quote there were good moments especially in the running game which again this my note could be huge since that’s what you need more than anything to set up this offense but there were some bad moments too we saw Penning struggle to keep himself between the quarterback at times also made some mental errors the mental errors frust me a bit because frustrate me a bit because that’s something you can control and you’re a vet at this point like you should not be having huge mental gaffs uh there’s no excuse for that no I don’t care how much you have played have not played like that does not matter you’ve been in those meeting rooms and that is on you and also everyone’s learning a new offense so you’ve learned this at the same time as every body else so if they point that out that means you’re not carrying your weight as far as the mental reps to come into practice ready to go because if you’re ready to go then you go full speed at all times and if you don’t then you’re half stepping then it makes you a worse player like if you’re confident in what you are you know supposed to do out there and you know your alignment your assignment all that you can play so fast and it’s really so I’ll take my own career for example like it’s what takes me who’s not as fast as some of the guys out there right I’m a I’m a I’m a 46 guy every day with the 44 guy if he’s not really sure what he’s doing but the 46 guy knows exactly what he’s doing the 46 guy’s going to beat the 44 guy to the spot because he’s confident and that’s what we’re talking about here so he he needs to pick it up Trevor Penning has to be as important of a piece on this offense is almost anybody because he solidifies something if the left tackle who you draft in the first round is the guy that you think he’s going to be which it sounds like he is then if you solidify that right side then we’re talking about a completely different New Orleans Saints offense and this is a team that in the Run game is going to count on their tackles yes now when you Z yes when you look at the New Orleans Saints last year they ran outside Zone 32% of the time you look at San Francisco they ran it 46% damn of the time this is an outside Zone team 59% of their runs were a Zone concept again 46% of those coming as an outside Zone only 133% inside Zone they’re not going to run a lot of man schemes only 133% did they run power or counter they are an outside Zone team they are like Missouri in college football when we talk about it you know it I know it we all know that it’s coming and can you stop it teams couldn’t stop Missouri last year they couldn’t stop San Francisco last year so Trevor Penning they’re going to be counting on you outside Zone goes off of your block when they run it to the right side so you are going to be a key piece in this offense because they have shown you that is almost half the time when they run the football it’s outside Zone and 564 runs Dam almost half of them were outside Zone that is the DNA of this offense and they can’t fall into tendencies in the NFL they can’t only run to [ __ ] aside that that that can’t happen you can do it in college and get away with it you can’t do it in the NFL so they have to trust you and count on you that when they run to your side with their favorite run that you get the job done well and he should be good at run blocking right like uh number eight possible signs of Hope on the defensive line seeing fosy and Turner popped a couple times during Camp well we’ll just wait and see on that there were nine questionable dep that tight end with the Jan a Johnson injury you really only have Boston Morrow and then D Hulker Michael Jacobson who yeah that’s kind of the Point hooker like’s been nice little surprise uh he was a player out of Colorado state had really good college career they feel like they might have gotten something well you’re going to need it you know Andra a free agent guy you’re GNA need it because again it’s just Jan and Foster Maro at this point and I guess Tamm Hill and whatever position he kind of occupies in that regard got two fullbacks as well maybe and maybe that’s just me saying this maybe maybe one of those guys can help you out there while you wait on Jaan to get healthy uh then finally the backup quarterback battle really coming to focus Nathan peterman’s out it’s going to be Hanner or it’s gonna be Rattler apparently Hayner’s had a solid spring um taking advantage of that year of experience that he has over Rattler uh and I I love this because it pushes Rattler really hard to try to uh hyper accelerate his growth and supplant him um I you probably carry all three in some former fashion but right now Hanner kind of looking like uh well it’s between those two but Hanner with the early lead entering training camp you know thing I can think of before I get to the quarterback like Nathan Peterman and I’ve been in the situation you’re a veteran player you sign with a place you go there all offseason long A lot of times you’ll move your family there and you set up shop and you get everything ready to go and then you go through training camp which is the worst part of of the entire process and then you get released and that entire time you know what you don’t make money you’re not getting a guaranteed contract if for Nathan Peterman right so you get like you get 500 bucks uh you know a couple of times for working out that’s about it and that is just the life of a veteran player who is on the last leg going from year toe contracts uh that’s why like my last time’s like n family y’all can stay in stport like I’ll be back maybe a little bit uh yeah I mean if I’m Peter maybe go try out the UFL dude you know see what’s going on there you get paid um all right so there it 398 eight um you know obviously played his type of Defense only struck out 12 times and 101 at bats they move him up to Hay where he’s batting 377 in 14 games 460 on base percentage already hit a couple of home runs only has four strikeouts and 55 at bats and so I mean he’s he had he has double the walks by the way he has eight walks only four strikeouts Trey Morgan continues uh to really just rise in the minor league ranks as well we know the defense is going to play he’s showing a little bit more power yeah I know that was kind of a question mark first base position where you want some power he shown a little bit more power certainly handling the bat I mean again batting 377 getting on base 460 so in high a right now how’s that work I mean bump my guy up I know what more do you need to see I’m with you I mean draft in the third round so obviously any 88 overall they got plans for him our thick king um Riley Cooper doing very well in high bump these guys up give him a shot let him need a superstar I mean you’re not going to get one for Ingram but I don’t think you need to be like oh we need a one for one in terms of the player maybe you get a couple of different pieces maybe you get a centerpiece and then some some some draft Capital because I I do feel like at the end of last year you kind of showed that look Zan is your Superstar that’s you have to lean into uh Empower Underhill of new orleans. foot of course uh we opened up our number two with an excellent piece on new orleans. foot 10 things uh kind of coming out of OTAs in mini camp in the current state of the new New Orleans Saints uh let’s welcome in Nick right now Nick I gotta be honest dude and by the way you should sign up for New Orleans on football I’m a proud subscriber for probably damn near four or five years now it feels like I continue to get my money’s worth every month it it if you love the Saints you you you need to check them out sub to the YouTube channel all that stuff uh Nick I’m feeling I know I’m feeling pretty freaking good New Orleans oh no we’re here we’ve hit this point we’re here no we are just I I said I will cut my nuts off if Derek Carr doesn’t finish as a top 12 quarterback in the NFL that’s how good I’m feeling yeah top 12 okay yeah he said he would cut his he was like 16 last year he was number one over the final six weeks God you love that final six week yeah because it matters because you ran like a little bit of motion and a little bit of play action and let’s just call spes Spade Pete Carmichael sucked okay and this offense is straight up evolving in front of our eyes uh and everybody look everybody I’ve talked to Nick everybody else right everybody you read listen to Ross Luke anybody um there’s this begrudging credit being G given where everybody knows they don’t want to write that Derek Carr is doing good because the fans are going to come after them and call them idiots and get angry about it but objectively he’s had a great off season he was he was 10th in quarterback rating I I guess I didn’t realize that I mean so he’s already top 12 last year no yes I don’t know what metric we’re using here but I mean he was top 10 in in in one I mean it’s possible it’s definitely I mean it’s possible but yeah you’re right there is like a a begrudging credit I mean like I’m afraid every time I I give him uh credit like we did a a show recently and we were doing like just you know our offseason MVPs or whatever and I gave my MVP to to Carr and you know I I was like scared to say it but like he had a he had a good off season and he should have a good offseason right like nobody’s rushing him like Trevor Penning isn’t an issue yet they should have hired an offense that should make him better like he should look good in it he’s smart the offense sets up predetermined reads at the at the line of scrimmage so he’s going out there he knows where he’s going with the ball like it’s coming out quickly in a perfect little setting all of it should look amazing he looked amazing last year kind of in Camp but that’s true I mean it’s it’s possible like top 12 like if you give a if you give a a but you know there’s a bunch of guys I think if you do the list of quarterbacks there’s a bunch of guys that are clearly better and then there’s like Tua you know like you give Tua a good offense and all of a sudden he’s he’s a top you know I don’t know 12 14 quarterback if you put him in a bad offense he’s probably 18 19 20 like so there’s that group of guys that I think if you give him the right system there there’s a possibility for it I don’t know that I’m betting on car being in top 12 but like you you know I think a lot of L I look at had him like 18th last year and I think I think at the end of the season it’s it’s definitely possible that he looks better than 18th I think he had a 76 rating on Madden it’s definitely possible that you know in the updates he raises that 76 rating or whatever if this offense does help him but like you know I will say like his best seasons were pure West Coast he’s kind of back in a pure West Coast system so you know maybe maybe there it is possible uh one one thing in the piece that we referenced at the beginning of last hour uh had to do with Trevor opinion and kind of the up and down nature of his own OTAs in mini camp and look the physical side of it is one thing if you just physically can’t cut it in the NFL that is what it is man right you’re putting in all the work and maybe you’re just not up to Snuff um but reading about him having mental errors uh did frustrate me a bit because that’s something that is completely within your control it is a study based issue you are a veteran I don’t care if you’ve been hurt like um but but I don’t want to run too far with it in your opinion were his Mas uh his is kind of mental misassignments were they outliers or was it just a couple more than maybe others was it the same as others what’s your view on it I I mean I don’t think they were outliers it’s kind of unfair because like I don’t necessarily know exactly what he’s supposed to doing I don’t have film like you’re kind of trying to watch through the the scrum and everything I was position myself in the end zone so I was getting the you know the the o line view when they were doing run drills so so you could see it a little bit better um you know it just felt like he was missing his landmarks you know every day like not not every single play but like every day you’d see something where you’d be like huh like was he sure looked like he was supposed to hit this guy like you know and it wasn’t happening um you know so that was the thing kind of fallen out of his stance and and false starting like that was kind of a thing that was happening a little little bit so there’s definitely some stuff that needs to get cleaned up like the first the first OTA we went out there and he had a clean practice and I was like oh my God like he’s he’s got it like this is going to work and then I think the fair way to put it is that we were just kind of reminded that it’s going to be um a learning process and he is moving to a new position and he is a guy that struggled to get on the field last year and he is hearing new coaching and you know there’s definitely a a point from which he needs to grow I don’t know if he’s going to actually do it or not um you know I think one thing that that kind of open my eyes a little bit is kind of just doing a study of offensive lines around the league and then specifically the the Shanahan type offenses and there is kind of like not a high premium value placed on the right tackle in those systems um the 49ers in particular like they just don’t invest it right tackle like they have a fourth rounder there they let their guy go um their philosophy is that you know they can kind of Coach around it hide it don’t e it develop it and spend your money on guys that touch the ball so I mean maybe it’s a thing where I don’t know you get a guy with a lot of physical ability and you just get him to a point where he’s he’s okay and maybe it works um you know it’s it’s there’s like three huge questions for this season for me that’s one I think at Perry’s developments um another one in defensive tackle is kind of a concern to me the the the nose uh just kind of that big body guy against the run I think they need to kind of figure that out still um last one on on on on or this isn’t really a B penion I guess this is more about the o line as a whole you know we we we’ve said it’s the biggest swing position on this team so much of what this team wants to do though starts with running the ball you want to make play action and everything else work uh you want to hide Trevor Penning you want to play to his strengths and kind of masks his weaknesses like you have to be able to run the ball effectively uh that’s probably the hardest thing to get a read on when you don’t have pads on in these type of scenarios how are you feeling about the the Saints rushing attack after it being maybe the most ineffective in the League last year yeah it’s kind of fascinating to me like you know I think obviously Alvin presuming he’s playing football this year is going to be uh the number one guy I thought for sure it was going to be Kendra Miller and I thought Kendra Miller was gonna possibly start to push a little bit you know and that’s probably the idea of drafting him in the third round is that you get Alvin to the end of this contract and you have your successor in place again really hard to judge but he had kendri Miller had a had a I don’t know kind of a quiet um six practices like it just didn’t it didn’t look like it was it was taken um you know the new offense I I would say if I had to set a depth chart right now like Jamal Williams is definitely number two and then it like it felt like Jordan Mims was touching the ball more than kendre so I like I don’t know exactly what was going on there but it was surprising to me I was kind of the you know hey this is going to be the Kendra Miller breakout season I’m completely off that take like I got to see it at this point like it it it was uh it was surprising to me I mean I think you know I do think the way they’re going to run the ball and the way they’re going to build this offense so you seen it like out there like you know just kind of the way they were they were running stuff off the the same looks like sometimes it got hard to to follow the action a little bit which is you know a good thing like you’re you’re watching the quarterback on a on a boot and like oh wait like they’re running the ball the other way and now he’s on a boot and they’re hitting the crossing route like off the same look and the defense is going this direction and your tight end’s wide open in space like just some of the stuff they were doing to get like eyes moving um you could it affected you know us watching I think and you could see the effect on the field so it just you could just kind of see you know the The Strokes of the paintbrush out there and the picture it looked like it was painting a good picture what leverage Nick does Alvin Kam and his camp like maybe think that they have in negotiating a new contract because we laid out the numbers and look I think that the offense didn’t do him any favors the offensive line didn’t do him any favors but you know 3.9 yards per carry even though he had a ton of catches it wasn’t for you know big yardage like where right now do they think that they can get maybe a new deal done so I I would say you know just on the 3.9 like I yeah I agree it was like 3.74 3.9 the the last three years um you know I think obviously there’s an element of the offense there like they weren’t building a good offense they didn’t block rate last year his like on outside Zone runs I I think man I I just did a story on it and I’m going to forget the numbers but like you know his his yards before first Contact it was it was really low it was like around a yard which means like your first contact’s typically like a defensive lineman so breaking a tackle is going to be a little bit harder you look at mcaffrey his yards before first Contact were like in the twos it was almost a yard higher maybe even a yard plus higher now maybe like you’re getting out faster and you’re making better cuts and you’re doing things to help that but also it’s just being blocked and built a little bit better so I think just like having a Better Built offense and blocking a little bit better it probably takes that three .9 up to I don’t know probably 4.3 just on its own I think you see Alvin’s Lake Drive is still there like you look at Zeke Elliott like you can kind of see like that deteriorating like Alvin doesn’t quite look that way to me like there were times last year where I thought it looked like he was just trying like he was running hard as hell at times last year like there were games where it was like damn Alvin was pissed off all week in the locker room complaining about the coaching and then he’s out there on Sunday just running incredibly hard and like that stuff still stood out to me um I think I think it’s a tough spot for leverage though like he’s 29 the numbers have been down three years in a row like there’s just a thing when running backs hit 30 that it’s just kind of that’s that’s the number where you start to get worried a little bit and like I think it’s definitely possible that Alvin’s a bit of an outlier on that like I could I I expect him to push that bar back a little bit but you got to be realistic about it um and I think the other thing that hurt him is that like mcaffry Signs this deal that’s worth 199 million per year and then like Joe Mixon sign one that was like 9.75 million per year so if you’re Alvin like you want to be above Mixon for sure that’s the floor you want to try to get as close to mcaffrey as as possible um your average per year is 15 million in reality it’s 11.8 because that last year is completely fake yeah I think before the mcaffry deal there’s probably a reality where they were probably willing to do like I don’t know probably I don’t know just add another year on it something like that like just keep it going but then mcaffrey signs this deal and now the Market’s just out of whack so I I have no idea where this thing settles that but Alvin’s leverage here to answer the question I think would just be the fact that they want to run this offense things are hot if you take him out like you know what are you gonna do but the reality to make that happen would be a willingness to hold out into the season and is he actually willing to do that and that that’s where you that’s the only way you get the leverage otherwise The Leverage is kind of all on the Saint side like he’s got to play and if he wants another contract he has to play well so like I don’t don’t know where this one goes but like I will say this like Alvin Alvin’s somebody and I’m not saying that like he doesn’t like football or any I’m not suggesting any of that like I think he loves football I think he loves being great at it I think he works incredibly hard but he’s also a person to me that like I feel like just he could walk away based on principle one day or just hey like I’m not going to risk my body for this at this price like this is what it’s worth for me like I think there actually would be a willingness to to just stop like to stop one day like I could see him finding like an intellectual Pursuit like that just stimulates him more and like off he goes like just one day like I just wouldn’t be shocked is what I’m saying is like he’s just he’s smarter than a lot of people like anybody like he’s one of the smartest people I’ve ever I’ve ever met in my whole entire life and I just think he understands like the risk calculation the value point of that and like I think it probably does have to hit so like I would not be shocked if he was someone that was willing to take something into a season um I have not heard that he’s going to do that him showing up for two days in mini camp before leaving tells me that he doesn’t want to do that it kind of says that like hey he wants to play football knowing the offense is important to him all this stuff is like at the Forefront but like I don’t know I I’m just say I’m rambling here I have no idea how this is going to end up because like all the people involved like Mickey’s kind of you know shrew in how he does things I think Alvin shrew and now he does things I don’t know where that middle ground is going to come at uh so here are your numbers that uh you were looking for so uh last year it was 1.4 yards for contact and 22 is .3 only. n in 2021 and when Camaro was at his best at 17 and 20 it was at two yards and 2.2 yards and even last year yeah if you look at outside Zone one yard before contact for camra last year mcaffrey 2.1 and all of a sudden that additional yard you’re talking about a 39 going to a 49 and all of a sudden now you’re one of the best backs in the league so like yeah again they need to put him the the the again Pete Carmichael sucked I I I and and I feel bad because like we said we G we we gave some flowers to Carmichael at the end about everything he did for the Saints over 18 years but he had fallen so far behind that everybody on that offense needs to be put in better positions and they’re going to be and I think the Saint’s going to be kind of frisky dude I’m feeling a little bit right now dude we’ll see we’ll see it’s that time of year that time of year but I guess here’s my deal uh am I maybe being a bit tongue and cheek and rubber banding too hard of the positive you could say that um but I would also argue that objectively everybody is kind of rubber banded too hard to the negative uh in terms of acting like this team is just a complete dumpster fire and absolute trash when objectively that is not true either yeah it’s average you know that’s it’s been average for two for two years danis Allen just isolate everything before the Saints the last two years he has been an average coach and you know average is a tough place to be though average average doesn’t give you like this this false sense of of of extreme hope like if you’re a bad team and you’re drafting early like that pick is Gonna Save everything you know it’s it’s exciting like you see it P to getting better quickly even though you most teams don’t get better quickly like it’s easier to get to it’s easier to get to 10 and 11 wins from nine than it is three like but it’s just when you’re bad like you can dream and when you’re good you’re good and when you’re in the middle it’s just you’re kind of stuck in the middle and you don’t really see the way out um but yeah I would agree with that I I think it’s I think it’s probably a little bit too a little bit too negative like not everything is the worst thing in the world like it the the coaches has been average the quarterback was about average like everything was about average but yeah average is is boring but look I’ll say this like I’m glad that the fans are are mad and angry and negative because like at least that means everybody’s still locked in and they they care like nobody’s apathetic yet I think when you see like that apathy that that’s when it’s uh that’s when it’s it’s it’s a point of of concern I think for the organization as as a whole um yeah I mean look I I I think I think there’s a path like things break your right the right way like you could be a decent team the division still stinks um I think Atlanta’s defense is going to be terrible like who do they have they they got a quarterback and they got a safety and maybe David animata like don’t you know K Kaden Nellis kind of had a down year there like they don’t have a very good defense uh I don’t expect the Panthers to be very good Tampa just lost the the coach that made Gino good uh after he left him with to Tampa gin went back to Gino went kind of back to average Baker got good what happens to him without Canales um I guess the flip side of that is maybe Bryce young gets that elevation and Carolina’s a little better but I don’t think Carolina is a good team so yeah I mean I think there’s there’s there’s reasons for uh you know I expect him to win nine games like that’s kind of where I’m at I think they can get there and there’s always a variance you know you get lucky off of nine you could exceed it you have bad luck off of nine like you could fall below it but I think Nine’s kind of like a good barometer for this team hey real quick Nick last one Joan Johnson out with an injury we think he’s going to be back for the season but T-Bob laid it out right before you came on the tight end room it does look kind of thin you have Foster Moro there because taes feels like he’s going to have maybe a different role within this new offense I mean we’ve kind of already seen him line up in multiple spots what does the tight end position look like for the Saints and what’s the latest maybe with Johnson yeah it looks it looks sketchy I mean it would be foster dalan Hulker Michael Jacobson um I don’t know you know off of that uh the the jwan situation yeah he has he has a broken foot um it’s it’s hopeful for the start of the season but you know that something that far out and then one little thing goes wrong and then maybe it carries into the season or maybe one little thing goes wrong and the rehab starts a little bit later and he’s on the field but he isn’t ready to play by week one you know I think it’s it’s a it’s a tough position one thing though that I think you know I it would be good if they could add someone there I just don’t know who you you look at like every top available tight end list and like Jimmy Graham’s like the best available tight end like if you’re bringing somebody in I think you need more than six catches I don’t think he’s he’s a a 600 snap solution he’s like a 55 snap solution and sure like I think he could probably still help in some degree but not not to the point where you’re covering up for uh Jawan this offense though like Houston Miami Sam Fran um you know everybody that kind of runs a a branch off of it that’s the bottom third of the league in terms of 12 Personnel usage so maybe Foster just plays more snaps uh saints were top seven last year in in 12 Personnel usage so I think that’s going to kind of flip on its head a little bit but I expect more from from Foster this year I think Hulker could be a good player um he’s a little undersized but maybe he’s someone if he gets enough snaps he’s a 15 16 20 catch guy or something like that but Jawan being good in this offense I I think is is you know kind of where they reach that that next level but even without this injury though like we could sit here and you guys could say Foster is
