[Music] big Drive energy Mond day Winner Circle Edition we’ve got a lot to talk about today we got the Mac attack is back we were joking about this this morning because he’s not really back Robert McIntyre has won his first PGA Tour event which ironically was in Canada so still hasn’t won in the US talk about Bobby Mack his Caddy’s uh situation his dad winning or him winning with his dad on the bag a lot of a lot of news and notes too from the women’s US Open uh 15-year-old being in the top 10 for most of the week crazy name um we’ve also got Lorie caner a live golf uh what’s the word the when you get demoted um relegation a live golf relegation winning on the DP World Tour some corn fairy tour notes and it’s Monday the longest day in golf a bunch of dudes out there trying to qualify for the men’s US Open coming up here in a couple weeks we’re going to cover it all for you here on big Drive energy all right let’s tea it up brother weekend at the beach huh how was it very jealous by the way um so last weekend we went to the beach we just went for one night this weekend but uh it’s great dude I’m actually starting to get a little bit tan uh I I actually make priority on my belly button with the sunscreen this year uh if you’ve been listening if you’re new list uh welcome to the show my belly button got torched last summer at the beach looked like the red ring of death uh and shout out to one of our followers listeners Zach Rodriguez uh hooked me up with a bottle of sunscreen specifically for my belly button maybe that’s a new invention we make that’s big brain thought of just belly button specific sunscreen uh that maybe just sits just pools down into my belly butt and keeps me protected but I am getting tan I’m getting some nice color uh we ate some fresh seafood which was phenomenal uh I had some fresh scallops some fresh shrimp uh just a phenomenal meal um I do have to tell you a story though because I had a lesson on Saturday before we went down to the beach and I was given a lesson and this this dude Rich awesome guy um probably in his like mid-30s it’s like his third time picking up a golf club real athletic dude you could tell uh but just just getting into golf so you know he had a lot of the the typical baseball swing issues uh so we were working on those but he was shanking a few here and there just because he wasn’t rotating well enough getting kind of caught sliding that left side out and not rotating and uh we’re on the far end far right side of the driving range and they parked the Picker right there uh and this by the way this dude next to us in the bay next to us is um smok and Shanks like hosle rockets right over the Picker and then uh this kid he’s out one of the cart kids is out getting the balls from the buckets uh from the baskets into the you know to go take them to the cleaner he’s got his back turned and rich just fires a hosle rocket right into the back of his leg like it wasn’t like super hard but it was hard enough to where I would probably equate it to like the kid getting shot with like a paintball gun and that caught him off guard he took it like a champ like Adam Sandler style 364 days till hockey tryouts he took it right in the back of the leg and just got his [ __ ] rocked and uh it was hilarious the kid like the kid like looked around and like kind of wanted to be pissed off but he’s just he was like one of those little like 14 15 year olds with like the hair flipped like scrawny little kid just brand new in high school um so he looked around at this real athletic dude rich and he and then he quickly like calmed down I think he just and Rich was like bro I’m so sorry like but he was also just cracking up so head on a swivel at all times when you’re on the driving range and even if you’re standing horizontal to somebody like you don’t have to be like in front of them for them to hit you so just PSA always keep your head on the swivel on the driving range because he got smoked and honestly they shouldn’t be parking the cart there uh because that that driving range so there’s a big net there’s Nets on both sides or I’m sorry there’s not a net on the left side there’s like a lot of like um Dunes like with fescue grass on the left between that and the the driving range on the first soulle but on the right side is a huge net because it goes into the forest and the amount of balls I’ve seen hit right into that net is absolutely insane like uh Ryan the dude who runs the course he’s like we are running out a golf ball so quickly cuz people are blowing them way over the [ __ ] fence onto the right and we’ve been through that before as well where you lose so many range balls that he’s like dude I he had the nicer tailor made range balls and then I I forget what he ordered but he ordered some like [ __ ] he’s like dude we we can’t afford to go through range balls this quickly and buy like the premium range balls it’s Pinnacle time yes I think it might have actually been Pinnacle like they’ve got like Taylor Made range balls out there he’s like dude I just ordered like 10,000 Pinnacles like we got to [ __ ] something’s got to change here and I was like dude I get it like all these people are blowing and honestly it is it’s truly crazy how far offline people can hit it because the first hole is a good if you’re on the center of the driving range to the number one t it’s easily 100 yards left and maybe 80 yards May around 80 or 100 there is dozens of golf balls sitting in the first hole like I think they thought they didn’t need a net on the left side of the driving range and they also didn’t want one because you know it runs up against the first hole they didn’t want to make it look like cheesy yeah them shits are expensive too those are those are spendy people don’t get range like they don’t understand people steal range balls all the time those things add up quick because imagine I mean look at the numbers you get 50 people hitting 50 range balls right there that’s 2500 range balls and yeah that that math checks out 2500 range balls that quickly like there’s probably I would say anywhere from like 40 to 50,000 range balls hit a day at that driving range so even at a quarter a piece those out up quick oh absolutely it’s it’s a it’s a NeverEnding cycle of just trying to trying to keep keep the range nice it’s just it’s something that nobody even thinks about but it it can be an absolute disaster um uh real quick so do you want me to get into my round or you’re you want to go yeah let’s let’s hear about your Friday round to golf and then I’ll cycle through my happenings on the golf course the last few days because there’s some there’s some interesting stuff going down in my life on the golf course yeah I told Spencer before this we’re not going shot for shot you’re not no you actually probably won’t even hear about one of my golf a few from today but none no golf shots just more of golf course happenings extracurriculars that’s the way we like to keep it um so long short my Friday round uh the first nine holes I couldn’t keep like for me you know how I generally hit it pretty straight well I’ve been working on strengthening my grip and I’m really trying to commit to it and like clearing out my left side more and really rotating harder um well I strengthened my grip and my club face is a little bit more in a strong position but I was just not clearing out like it was not translating to the course so I was just hitting everything left like I was [ __ ] it it was just a long first nine and in all honesty so this course I played good track but it plays 6,800 yards uh from the back te and it was playing wet it we had just gotten a lot of rain out here no surprise it rains all the [ __ ] time so balls were plugging in the Fairway 6,800 at sea level like with no roll on a soft Golf Course is long like there was a handful of par fors that I had hybrid or even I had there’s a 470 yard hole a little bit into the wind um I kind of hit a drive a little off the heel I had three wood in into a par four like so it it played decent decently long um I probably shot like 41 on the front nine but then I finally just switched my grip up I switched it back to my old grip and I did pretty well on the back and I didn’t think I was around even par uh maybe one or two over I was three putting it so it was just a little bit out of sorts round for me but overall it was a great time um one of my playing Partners uh and this is actually hilarious so shout out Shan Ryan Shan our buddy out in Colorado that just moved from Morristown I gotta tell this quick story um so his buddy Matt Leon is the dude who I was playing with and so they were talking about like how well I know Shawn this and that so Matt and Shawn have worked together for or they had work together maybe they still were the same company I’m not sure but like ever since college so like the past 10 12 years and uh basically they were telling me the story about so Sean gave Matt this like lucky $11 that he found um like in his gym in his building this is like five or six years ago he found it in his gym and Matt was going to Vegas so Sean was like take this $11 and whatever like see what it does so he goes and plays on the slot machine with this $11 he loses it the next day Matt is at uh at the casino and wins like five grand on a like Blackjack bonus or something like that win some crazy like hit some crazy bonus and uh so he puts it in the group chat and Sean goes that’s awesome bro what’s what’s my cut and so Matt’s like bro I already lost your $11 on a slot machine like I and so this is how [ __ ] I mean I don’t even know what to call it it’s absolutely [ __ ] hilarious Shawn takes him to small claims court oh yes Sean has told me about dude I had never heard so then he takes him to small claims court they go to court they [ __ ] argue about like it was supposed to be a joke Shawn wasn’t even gonna show up but Matt had to show up because he was being sued so it was more just like an inconvenience for Matt but then they show up at court and I guess all the national shows like pick up all they they get to see like the dockets and all these local areas to see what they want to pick up the [ __ ] People’s Court picks up their their [ __ ] case they go into New York City do this whole People’s Court thing and they don’t tell their buddies for like six months they keep it all walked up nobody knows and then all their friends are over at their house one night and they uh Sean had it recorded and he just starts playing it and everybody looks on TV and they’re like is that’s [ __ ] you guys so I thought that was just like an all talk about like an alltime inconvenience to put your buddy through just [ __ ] sue him just sue your best friend like I mean that’s that is [ __ ] hilarious I was I was pissing myself at how diabolical that was I think I’m gonna sue you now I think that’s the next next thing for me is to just sue your ass into the [ __ ] ground about some [ __ ] I I think you if if you could sue me for anything it’d probably be def of character because I [ __ ] drag you all the time and eventually the only way you’ll shut me up is if you do sue me so um if I if I get some sort of [ __ ] lawyer calling me up telling me that I’m getting sued I’m gonna ring your [ __ ] neck oh I think that’s great actually now I’m considering that yeah I like I honestly did not know that it was a thing that you could just Sue anybody but I I I think it kind of sounds like fun like you just [ __ ] I might Sue Marissa too just for talking [ __ ] about us watch yourself yeah we both we’ll file a code defamation suit against her also you guys for treating me like [ __ ] as your producer for an HR violation yeah yeah I mean all the Starbucks brought to chissa is ex ample evidence that we we appreciate you uh but I could I definitely feel like I could sue Spencer for for multiple things yeah oh yeah Spencer too yeah let’s just we could have a a circle a a circle of suing each other just I sue Marissa Marissa sues Spencer Spencer sues me perfect I I love that from all of us just big fat suit uh all right so let’s get into a couple of debacles uh about my round of golf real quick I want to tell you guys about our friends over at bet 365 didn’t hit the McKenzie ‘s bet thought he was going to win didn’t play well on sunday Aaron Ry also screwed me with his not great finish on Sunday fullon thumbs down from these guys how many more times are we gonna have a bridesmaid holy [ __ ] incredible shout out to Bobby Mack though for his win I did leave him off the card I told him like you can say that every week but I he was one of the names he was on my Cutting Room floor probably five away but bet 365 is where we bet all of our golf from used the code All City when you sign up in all caps and you can bet $5 to win $150 in bonus bets or you can have a first bet safety net of up to $1,000 that means you get to bet up to $1,000 if it doesn’t hit you get another shot in bonus Bets with that ,000 you can make that bet get your money back and double your account and have all that money back to play with we love bonus bets especially betting golf uh Mackenzie Hughes did hit for us in the top 12 I believe it returned 5 04 or 5.4 units on the Mackenzie Hugh’s top 12 that even got a little sketchy he had to make par at the last or else it would have turned into a dead heat scenario so bet 365 is by far our favorite app to bet golf with check it out use the code All City must be 21 plus are located in Colorado gambling problem please call 1800 422 45700 uh they will not give you picks uh unfortunately also want to tell you guys about our friends over at Shady Rays I was wearing my Shady Rays today on the golf course hitting some R hitting some shots out at Green Valley Ranch for the people of the Colorado Avid golfer tournament it was a great time Colorado Avid golfer by the way if you’re in Colorado get that magazine check out page number 30 we are in there in the magazine pretty hyped about that one of the coolest coolest things for our pod and just me to see myself in a magazine other than the picture was a little eh they did a great job of of featuring Us in there so that was cool to be put up with some of the other great golf pods around the world but I was wearing my Shady Rays today and it was a little overcast it’s supposed to be like 990s in Colorado this whole week but it was a little overcast and those Shady Rays polarized green wolf golf glasses just like changed the whole perception of the course it is incredible what they do for you and how especially when it’s overcast it just makes it so much lighter I like I try to take them off a few times because my eyes get sweaty and my glasses fog up and I looked out and I’d be like I hate this view like I do not like the how this looks anymore so now I’m pretty addicted to my Shady raised polarized sunglasses and they are giving you the best deal of the season use code ac35 to get 35% off any of your polarized sunglasses exclusively for our listeners head to Shady ra.com and use that code ac35 and you’re getting 35% off try for yourself the shades rated five stars by over 300,000 people all right let’s start with my round on Friday went to play a little uh 15er actually basically I knew I had to leave by about 10:15 to get home and I started at 7:15 I was the second group off and I didn’t know you know with Inverness it’s there was we got some Hotel guests uh that can just play there so there was some Hotel guests I guess there was like seven weddings going on this weekend between Inverness and they’re also a partner with uh Spruce Mountain Ranch which is that giant wedding place down in larksburg where people like bus they bus from inness it’s one of like sponsor hotels like I’ve stayed in there before going to a wedding at Spruce Mountain did you know that our friends like own Spruce Mountain Ranch uh ye kind of owned by the that’s owned by the Ames family oh okay what a cash cow that must be good God I need to get in the wedding business yeah I’m still paying off my wedding though so it’s like before I start investing you better not me you [ __ ] bum I’m not dude it was just it was for the content but okay whatever all right more defamation of character adding that to the suit um so so we had two Hotel guests with us and it was just me and I booked it for two I was going to bring somebody and then he bailed so thought it was just going to be three of us and then one of them old older members who had actually been a member there as long as I’ve been alive uh showed up and played and he was a cool dude uh ran hedge fund wealth management company his daughter works for the Nuggets his son was a former CU football quarterback and does the uh he’s part of the money game on Thursday nights that I’m going to get myself into so it’s cool to meet him and kind of get some contacts out there because that was the first member that I’ve played with or gotten to meet but we show up on the first te and I’m like okay well I know we’re not flying through this as for two Hotel guests guys that are not very good golfers and also didn’t have their own clubs uh so I kind of like succumb to the fact that I’m not going to finish 18 holes they did drop off after nine so we played like five holes on the back in like 45 minutes and then I played the last two holes by myself because I had a dip in six minutes I played two golf holes in six minutes I was pretty proud of that um sh you could find your golfball I yeah I was I was I’m hitting driver good I’m lost with every other club but I’m hitting driver like a beast uh but so the first whole roll out there I forgot my [ __ ] shoes I went to the gym before uh the before I played and I realized I did not put my golf shoes in my bag or in my car so I had to play in my black Adidas workout shoes with white socks and joggers and it was a absolute disaster I felt horrible immediately starting the round were you like sliding all over the place or was that not a problem it was just how you looked no it was how I looked I I thought I’d be sliding everywhere but I really wasn’t like the older guy that we were playing with like one of the wedding dudes he was sliding everywhere and like pulled his groin he was like doing these like stretches where he was like kicking his leg up as high as he could on the te box because he was [ __ ] he was hurting himself slid did he pull the old like I’m playing so bad I’m faking an injury the old Tiger Woods where he dropped off after nine holes no they were only playing nine anyways cuz the one guy was officiating the wedding so he had to get going but but really they were not like oh I’m really trying to impress anyone today they were just out playing and just having a good time which I appreciate but the first hole I so I walked the front nine and yeah I just like I knew it wasn’t going to be fast I was like [ __ ] it I’ll walk front n so the first hole I have a complete mental breakdown of like how golf is played in the etiquette so I hit it in the Fairway bunker and then hit it up to the like left side of the green dudes just batting it around old man one earring batting it around uh Rod Stewart looking dude batting it around the left side and he hits it in the left bunker on his like fifth shot and we I so I you know the way that first and second hole is close together I set my I walked around set my bag behind the hole so I could just walk right to it next te you good to go so then I come back around with my Putter and I’m like trying to debate whether I’m chipping or putting this so normally I don’t take very long over my ball you know that but I’m trying to debate this I’m [ __ ] wondering whether I should putt chip I’m setting down the wedge I’m setting down the putter finally I like set the get the putter decide I’m going to hit that take another couple seconds read this like hit this 40 foot putt turn around and realize I’m in the dude’s way the whole time and he was out and he’s sitting in the bunker just like and I’m like immediately uncomforable zero yeah and I’m normally so aware of like everyone else and I I’m almost like too aware and I had complet debacle mental breakdown forgot he was there started playing my I was just so worried about my myself my own ball trying to make par trying to beat you after I put that [ __ ] on social media all I wanted to do is beat you that day and uh end up making Bogey and I said you know I deserve that uh but it was just funny cuz I’m so I you like usually just good about that and I turn around and I’m like oh [ __ ] I’m sorry Jim Jim I’m I’m an idiot and then I was like praying that he’d make his putt just saw I didn’t look like such an [ __ ] and then he like seven whacked it and I was like oh God this is going to be bad it was your fault for sure that’s why he did that oh yeah I mean he made he made a solid tent on the whole but either way it was it was a fun front nine and then they dropped off we flew I Got a Car on the back flew around a little bit back nine is so good there i’ kind of forgotten how good it was just because I haven’t played it in so long I’ve just been playing a Niner but back n’s great there and then going on to yesterday’s round the other debacle so we were playing at Wellshire playing a Niner and the carts you know some of the like electric carts the the break is on the top half of the the thing and the parking brake yeah the parking brake is on the top half you got to hit it kind of soft you know or whatever just get it to click and then it locks so RK picks me up and he’s like hey we might have to switch this car out parking Brake’s not working I was like oh let’s give it a shot whatever we drive through uh this wedding that’s at Wellshire we drive through the end up driving through them like three or four times it was kind of hilarious but we get to the first Hill like right by the first T box and he hits it and we’re not incompetent we’re both played a ton of golf played with the same card so we understand what what a golf card is how it works how the parking bag works so he hits it we still keep rolling down the hill he hits it again he Taps it he does all the different variations that he could do with his feet I try it everything it’s parking brak’s not working so like all right we let’s switch this out because we can’t have this thing just rolling up and down Hills we drive it over leave the key in it to the cart area so I go into the Pro Shop get another key and this roided out like 50-year-old dude sitting behind the Pro Shop counters like you know I was like yeah the parking brake wasn’t working so we flipped it out whatever he goes you know like the top half is the break and like you can’t hit the whole thing right and I’m like okay I don’t have time for this I was like yeah uh oh I was like oh really yeah okay sorry uh oh cool you know know I just try to play it off then we we drive up to the first hole we’re about to go te off they have a starter he go this old [ __ ] and he goes you know you didn’t have to switch the cart out right and I’m like again like I’m gonna get mansplained a cart break again and he goes why don’t you just step up and tell people that you know what the [ __ ] you’re doing well that this this is where it gets good so then he goes I go yeah we did and he goes no you didn’t and I was like I know how a cart break works I’ve worked at a golf course for 12 years I understand he goes no you don’t and this this old dude and then so he’s like you didn’t have to switch it out I could have showed you how it worked and I was like I’m very aware of how it works I this [ __ ] breake is not working and it’s going to roll down a hill or up a hill and we’re not going to be able to control our car all day so we switched it out and he’s like what’s your new cart number I said 26 he said sign this thing so I signed like the cart sheet and then he goes leave it right there and and I was like it was like the pit the clipboard was like leaning so it would just kept sliding off onto the ground so I’m like I’m like trying to push it so it levels itself out and sits there he [ __ ] like slams it on the table with my hand on it and [ __ ] pen falls on the ground I’m like okay [ __ ] I am heated I am like so mad by teeing off on the first hole I’m like I’ve just been [ __ ] mansplained how to park a cart with a parking brake when my literal first job was parking and washing carts and I did a thousand probably 10,000 15,000 cards in my life and I’m being mansplained how to [ __ ] hit a parking brake twice by two different dudes oh man I was I was [ __ ] pissed why didn’t you tell them to go hop in it and try the parking brake and well because it was all the way over like their cart location is no what you should have been is like hey let’s go drive over there and you can show me how it works hop in the cart and that would have been great he [ __ ] I be like take it down that hill and then show me how it works and just roll off into the distance was pretty pretty annoyed to say the least no that’s fair that is very annoying I’d be I’d be thoroughly pissed off as well um I had a question for you because so I played the the round I played Friday is at a place called null Country Club so they it’s it’s a semi-private country club where they offer you memberships you can’t play there quote unquote unless you’re a member or a guest of a member but the weird thing is you tell me this is if this is weird or not as a member you still have to pay regular green not regular green fees you get but you have to pay a green fee every time you play and a cart fee so like is that not is that not a different level of membership cuz I’ve seen that where like you can buy in to be a member of a golf course like a almost like a so like a social member of inness would have to pay the Green fee and pay the cart fee but there is no social side like it’s literally just a golf course there’s no Country Club there’s no tennis there’s no pool like you literally like this dude was like yeah it’s only a couple Grand a year but then like I paid $73 as a guest he paid like $45 so you’re dropping a couple Grand to save yourself 25 bucks a round like 30 bucks a round like that the math does not math there to me I think it’s could be one like an exclusivity thing like you want to be member of a club and and also that place is probably way less busy than other places you know because you can’t just have the public calling up every day you’re not like waking up setting alarms fighting for tea times so I could see it from that end but yeah most courses like that a even a semi-private will have some level of membership where you’re never paying a dollar at the counter if you will when you show up you just make your tea time and play yeah well and also I mean it’s a yearly payment type of thing where like we had out of Spring Valley where you know you pay your membership for the year and that’s your yearly deal it’s not a one-time thing so it just threw me off that you would drop a couple Grand at the beginning of the year to quote unquote join the club and then you’re still paying a green fee and a cart fee every time you go out like I I get like paying a cart fee um you know depending on the membership but paying a green fee what the what is the point like maybe it’s like owning a boat you know you say that they say that the the second best day of every man’s life is selling or buying a boat what’s the first it’s selling it like is being a buddy of a country club member better than being a member at a country club because you know I can text this dude and be like hey I want to play golf now and I just pay the guest fee whereas you know he’s [ __ ] paying a fee every time he he tees it up on top of paying the initial you know two grand $2,500 a year like that just blew my mind yeah it does seem a little weird especially like reup every year and not have a onetime Initiation fee in a month by month um um a boy gregy g a lot of courses in Austin are starting to do the pay as you go method I think it’s just a matter of such there’s such a want and need for golf that even private clubs are like how can we up this and have more play and have more daily money at our club but I was going to say is it’s a greed Factor at that point like legitimate [ __ ] private clubs are now making you pay a green fee on top of buying a membership like I think that’s over the top like at that point why join when you could just go play public golf elsewhere you know because if you’re because and I literally asked Matt who’s a member there and I’m I’m not giving him [ __ ] but I’m just like how how many rounds does it break down to where your break even point is he’s like oh I have no idea I’m like so you just hand them $2,500 at the beginning of every year just so you can play here with no intent to like get a return on your dollar that you gave them you know yeah yeah it’s normally when the club isn’t accepting new members yeah I mean I just don’t it it feels like a go and unfortunately the golf course industry used to be like an industry where ownership knew what they were getting into like they didn’t really try to make money and if they did they put it back into the course um and it was more of just a a pay for itself type of business and where you really you know make your money is you um you know the land the development around it the restaurant other things but I just feel like since Co all these owners have gotten so greedy about like margins on golf that eventually like it’s it’s got to fall off somewhere you know what I mean it who can afford to keep paying $100 to play three four times a week on top of equipment on top of everything else like it it just it it gets to a point where it’s almost like crazy to me yeah I think judging by that it would be people have already played out there they like the golf course they want to be a part of it and did you notice like was it the day was it very busy like or was it pretty no it was busy it was a busy course like I mean there was group it was stacked in front of us stacked behind us so I mean it it definitely wasn’t like an exclusivity thing where you know it’s keeping people out um and maybe that then they you know and the unfortunate thing then is they just raised their prices I I guess it’s just supply and demand and I just sound like a complete [ __ ] going on about this but being in the industry and and knowing you know 10 years ago how hard it was to get a membership and you know obtain the membership and what you would do in order to like take care of them versus now like you’re turning people away you you can almost raise prices every single year and you’re going to have more demand year after year it’s just like insane to me like I I love that golf has gotten that much bigger but at the same time these these courses are just are going crazy with it yeah and I think that’s where like Inverness is obviously like a much cheaper Initiation fee it allows me to get in you know there was a long wait list and I don’t know exactly how many members there are but when you can have just a random tum of two members and two Hotel guests like the hotel part of it is like they almost their public play you know you stay at night there you can play there obviously I can have guests out whenever I want so it is kind of an interesting you know being more in the private game rather than public but even when I think back to Spring Valley we were almost like I don’t even know what you call it but semi-private in the in the fact that like people could be members and you could buy a full-on membership where all your golf is free and you get to book tea times before everyone so only tournaments were stopping you from playing but then you could just book a tea time there randomly anytime So that obviously cuts out those people from the null or west what is it null at the West West so another like I I want to move on quickly cuz we’re obviously we’ve used a lot of time by talking about this but also uh so they have another they have n East and N West the East course is fully public um so they have 36 holes out there the other one’s fully public a little bit more like Rinky Dink West or yeah the West course is more like country club I mean it is a great course like it’s widely known as probably like a top 10 you know course that you top 15 course that you can play like in the state of New Jersey as a country club whatever um but the other weird thing is is that it’s a country club but it’s ran by the county it’s owned and ran by the county so like it’s uh publicly owned or you know city-owned Country Club where the city is is making rates and I guess like when Co first happened they didn’t even have a food vendor like they didn’t even have food there or drinks there so I guess you were able to like bring all your own [ __ ] they were like yeah bring your own booze whatever but they legitimately like people were buying memberships and they didn’t even offer food like [ __ ] Insanity yeah that’s that’s like when you talk about a course just being just golf that is is just golf as it gets because literally like yeah you you just golf yeah but no it was just an interesting thing and I was curious because I think it’s a thing out here but I just if I was buying a membership I would not I wouldn’t buy a membership to just go pay a green fee every every time I wanted to te it up that feels like defeating the purpose of a membership yeah oh 100% all right let’s talk about just golf and uh we got a winnner circle Monday with a lot of different topics a lot of different winners this weekend so I want to start out with the US Women’s Open of course this was a Charlie Hull weekend everybody was talking about Charlie Hull but let’s talk a little bit about Yuka Sasso who won her second us wom’s open title she’s only 22 years old and she she’s got the Brooks kka about her she has she won the women’s Us open in 2021 has not won a single tournament since and then goes and wins the US Open this weekend in Lancaster Pennsylvania and those are legitimately her only two lpj tour wins yeah just women’s us just win Majors well and the other crazy thing is so I don’t know exactly how this all works but 2021 she became the first ever female golfer from the Philippines to win a US Women’s Open and then she has dual citizenship Philippines and Japan because her uh dad’s from Japan her mom’s from the Philippines so she made a change in her life in between then and now and now solely represents Japan so she’s won in women’s Us open as a Filipino and won a US Open as part of Japan and so now now she’s going to compete in the Olympics as for JE for Japan and I going to say for Japanese but that doesn’t [ __ ] add up she for Japanese she’s gonna compete for the Japanese in the in the next Olympics but competed for the Philippines in her last Olympics so kind of a crazy scenario to basically win two of the same major but basically being from two other countries I don’t know how you just you know the process of deciding where from um maybe you know like I’m from Elizabeth sometimes and then I’m from Colorado other times I could mean different very different things to if you iyk YK scenario um but uh kind of crazy to just win two women’s us opens and nothing else and obviously we saw Nelly Corda make a 10 on a par three which was ins or 12 did she make a 10 or a 12 I think it was a 10 I think she hit three balls so she hit one in the bunker two across the green into the water drop three hit four in the water drop five hit six in the water drop seven hit eight on and then two- puted I want to say if that sounds correct um but it was crazy because you know it was before it had even gotten on TV or anything and everyone thought it was like a typo everyone was like oh this is not correct like what’s going on cuz the lpj tour the PJ Tour all these professional golf tours seem to constantly [ __ ] up their own scoreboards their own apps like like they just have some intern fat finger in it back there they’re like oh did did she just make like a par and they just put a 12 in there for her or you know like what actually happened there was a whole today uh Monday Q info tweeted it out there was a live scoring from one of the US Open qualifiers and all three players had a one on the 12th hole which is a par four and he tweeted like quite the whole for this group on the 12th yeah no [ __ ] um so yeah I mean that was insane and Nelly like she took it like a champ she did her uh you know post round press conference and it just goes to show you nobody is impervious to having a bad day of golf and I will say Lancaster Country Club looked very challenging um so the fact that she made that like her bunker shot that she hit into the water did you watch it it was not that bad yeah did not terrible um it just legitimately looked like she had no shot at stopping it and then everybody into Twitter on Twitter got into the debate of oh a man would have been able to stop that on the green I’m like holy [ __ ] like oh yeah you had your 46-year old 12 handicaps being like I could make par there and and then the smart people are like how hard can it be like yeah the number one golfer in the world on the female side just made made 10 like it’s not you know yeah you have one lucky shot that lands on the green but they’re thinking of the one time that they hit 146 yard shot on the green versus the 10 times that they missed the green probably rinse a few uh you know there’s so many different options so it was obviously a great weekend for women’s golf because the US Open is is the largest purse in women’s sports at a standalone venue at 12.1 million and uh saso she won 2.4 from that 12 million so pretty massive yeah that that has made a massive jump in recent years and I actually saw that front office Sports uh if you’re not following them on Instagram they’re a good follow uh just they talk about you know the money behind Sports and uh TV rights and all of that but I guess women’s golf has also seen a massive uptick in ratings um you know they’re kind of and it really like I don’t want to go to women’s basketball but kind of a rising tide lifts all ship type of thing like women’s sports are just on the come up from a TV viewership perspective between you know women’s basketball and now we’ve got a superstar in the making well already kind of made she’s already here in Nelly Corda um but those ratings are are huge and they’re like I guess the TV ad space for the women’s U majors has gone the the adby has gone up majorly so women sports is definitely Trend in the right direction uh but real quick I wanted to tell you a story about the you were mentioning like the dual citizenship um so I think one way to do that is through and I don’t think that saso did it this way but um I think a former PGA Tour player did is if you get married to you know a citizen of a certain nation and then you you know OCC you spend some time of the year over there uh because Rory sabatini um he’s exactly what I was going to go back to dude what so he’s not from South AF or he’s from South Africa he was representing like [ __ ] Switzerland I think it was I want to say it was Japan dude it wasn’t Japan it was not Japan I it was definitely a country in Europe but um that makes me think that you and I should uh you know I mean you’re married but I could find uh you know a wife from some obscure country that has an Olympic team and then just go over there and be the best golfer in that nation and go play in the Olympics like how insane would that [ __ ] be Slovakia that’s where it was okay yes yeah okay so yeah he’s from South Africa so there’s there’s definitely like workarounds with that [ __ ] like I what if I found like a wife from like Bulgaria or something like that and they had a Olympic team and I just go represent them in the Olympics like that that would be Peak [ __ ] yeah oh 100% um just wrapping up this uh Sasso stuff she is now the youngest which is crazy because we talk about how young last week how young all the LPGA Tour players are how young they start she is the youngest two-time US Open Women’s Open winner ever at 22 year just about to turn 23 so kind of just a big game hunter for the US Open us women open yeah she’s just got the game to uh game to get it around at on the toughest tests which which is impressive all right so next winner of the uh next winner we’ll talk about on The Winner Circle Monday here big Drive energy is kaido onishi he won the corn fairy Tour event and I won’t get into the whole post but Monday Q info posted about it he had corn fairy tour status last year the final day of the final event he shot 68 it was the second best round of the day which moved him up 34 spots to t24 that in turn moved him up one from 107th in the points Race to 100 by a single point and a single stroke over the entire season could have changed his entire career he couldn’t have corn fairy tour status so because he finished 100th he kept his corn fairy tour card and now he has to go he would had to go back to the first stage all over again he ends up winning um and now he he got into this event based on his 100th Place finish in the points last year uh or no he got into the fourth event finished T8 yes because of his 100 and now six events later he’s one and has has an inside track to getting his PGA Tour cards so just some insane deep golf you know shout out to Monday Q info at a case of the golf one one of the best falls on X but just insane to think like one miss three-footer here there one 40 foot bomb that he could have just may not made it you know it changes his entire career trajectory yeah I mean golf literally comes down to and that’s where you know when you’re out on the driving range or and not everybody has professional aspirations but every single stroke matters you know you could be batting it around you make a seven you miss a two-footer uh for six and you make a seven and then that one stroke comes back and bites you in the ass and it is tough sometimes to focus But ultimately you never know what one stroke could do for you especially in a season long points race like that so I think the whole thing was Spence he he got to a 100th uh which gave him some sort of conditional status got him a few starts and then so he got into a few events like you said he finished top 10 in that one event got like reshuffled into having full status and then he ended up winning this here so uh yeah it can totally change the trajectory of your career with just one or two shots so I mean look at uh look at our boy the guy um pins and Aces Rafa compos he gets in by one stroke uh earns his PJ tour card this year by by one shot you know and otherwise he’d be back on the corn fairy tour this year also didn’t Harry higs play well again this week yeah he was leading uh through two rounds again so he was about ready to go for the three repat on there yeah Higgs is gonna be a force to be reckoned with hopefully next year out on the PJ tour but fun to see him continue his good golf yeah another shout out we’ll give is to uh Lori caner before we get to our boy Robbie Robbie Mack oh how about UCCS maybe getting an alumni into the US Open shout out our alumni did we get uh who’s grey fill us in who is that it was I I saw his name it was um God damn it now I’m spacing it uh I I don’t know I think he played on the UCCS golf team and he’s now a science teacher um oh is that the guy that Monday Q info is also on like the Denver science teacher uh yes Colin Prader oh I actually I feel like I recognize that name damn UCCS getting into the US Open um shout out real quick to our boy as we’re doing this pod Mark hubard Denver Colorado Native may or may not be a friend of the program uh but Mark hubard is currently leading at the can the Canadia at the Canadia US Open qualifying he is first place right now which seven spots get him in Colin Prader yeah that’s that’s hype hype for the UCCS team uh let’s talk about Lori caner real quick So Lorie caner has been Pro for 13 years uh played on the DP World Tour a ton was one of the first guys uh to jump to the Liv tour got relegated from the Liv tour now comes back to the DP world tour with some conditional status ends up going on to win the European open this past weekend and now he is back on track like he’s going to play DP World Tour events for the rest of the year potentially get onto the PGA tour again which kind of insane to think dude because we we talked about this before and here’s the tweet from Monday Q info sorry to just be up but at uh Liv Q at Liv Q school caner three putted the first playoff hole to Tai then topped his approach into the water on the second hole to lose out on the final spot has to come back to the European DP World Tour and wins that’s why you always keep grinding so shout out to Lorie caner it it’s amazing to think of a player getting relegated from the Liv tour because yes the Liv is very topheavy we talk about it all the time but it also its floor its ceiling is high and its floor is very low so to think of a guy like that getting relegated over jedah Morgan who also got relegated I just [ __ ] hate that guy um and then going on to win a DP World Tour event is honestly pretty insane yeah I mean it it looks pretty good for Liv that a dude that couldn’t even make it on Liv is winning out on the DP World Tour um but let’s let’s get to the the other DP World Tour player that won the biggest winner this weekend besides the US Women’s Open the Canadian open another National open we got Bobby Mack Robert McIntyre that was a fun win to see him get and honestly they were talking about this so I’ll let you get into it a little bit but Robert McIntyre and Ryan Fox [ __ ] that guy I actually love Ryan Fox but if you haven’t listened um we did a Kolkata with um guys at the Masters and we had Ryan Fox we got him on a steal of a deal uh he was in the top five to six spots uh he was leing the tournament for at least 10 to 15 holes that he was playing yeah and Midway through Saturday he looked like he was going to be in a a solidified like top 10 spot pisses down his leg on Sunday he’s like T30 we make no money so he’s kind of like not blacklisted a little blacklisted uh but Ryan Fox and Robert McIntyre are two dudes that earned status onto the PJ tour through the DP world tour through their play on the DP World Tour which is a really cool thing that we talked about at the beginning of the year where I think they gave status to uh 10 players from the DP World Tour to come over and play on the PJ tour and both of those guys were in contention this weekend and Robert Mack Tire ultimately won so I think it’s a real boost to like the view of the DP World Tour once again Rising tide lifts All Ships when guys from the DP T World Tour play well on the PJ tour it makes the DP World Tour look even better and pushes more guys you know to try to qualify for the DP World Tour because ultimately it is a path to the PJ tour like I mean it is a while back but that’s how Brooks keom made it over he got status from the European it was called the European t then probably 10 years ago over onto uh the PGA Tour and look what he’s done from there so I mean there’s more than one way to quote unquote skin a cat you know the old saying um but really cool for Robert McIntyre especially having his dad on his bag uh really really cool story yeah so we have a couple Clips to play here but first this is uh this is Bobby Max portfolio of national open performances so this guy’s just a national open Hunter uh he’s hasn’t he’s won on the PGA tour once now still not In America which it’s kind of funny because he was open and honest earlier this year about how the PGA Tour doesn’t feel like much of a Brotherhood as much as you know he’s from Europe grew up in uh Scotland so shout out to the Johnny Johnny Samson our our old Scottish friend his national uh his country winning a RBC Canadian open but he still hasn’t won in the US but he wasn’t as thrilled to be on the PGA 2 tour as some might say because as some might be because he said it wasn’t as much of a Brotherhood as the DP World Tour you’re not hanging out as much he felt like an outsider but I bet if he wins and he’s continued to be kind of like a one of the top players on the PGA tour this year and had some good finishes that should slowly change and maybe he’ll become more of a a fan favorite and a uh a PGA Tour player favorite just seems like a nice dude all around but he’s won the Canadian open he’s won the Italian Open he’s gotten second in the Scottish open third in the Cypress open six in both the Open Championship in the Mexico open seventh in both the Kenya and the turkus open eighth in the French Open and then T3 and T15 in the Irish and South African open respectfully so this guy just any open Bobby Mack on the card that’s that’s the new rule going forward that is going to be uh the new rule for us as Bobby supporters that begs a question because so we do have another I think signature event coming up this next week um for the PJ tour is that correct yeah the memorial which Bobby Mack is skipping well that’s what I’m saying he he got into the memorial because of this win he immediately turned it down because he wanted to go party with his mates back in uh in Scotland I feel like such a square saying that even though that’s what they how they say it go potty with me mates um but the next national open is the US Open which he is now participating in so um the begs a question is he on the card for the US open he maybe he has to be just win back to back events my brother in Christ I tell you what that dude sprays it for being a PJ tour winner he looked so [ __ ] shaky the first like front nine and he was rattled bro like apparently they had I don’t know if you saw it but they were flying a drone around to get coverage oh yeah he was ping the Drone out and you could hear him like he’s got a little bit of a chip on his shoulder I think what some of the Europeans do because he goes I know I’m not from America from from Canada but can you get this [ __ ] drone out of here like he’s throwing a a a fit over the the Drone and then the broadcast was like you know this is something he’s going to really have to learn how to deal with if he wants to play on the PJ tour like treating him like a little kid and [ __ ] um but he was totally rattled there was one point on the back nine where he hit iron off the te [ __ ] hit into a hazard with iron I saw that yeah made five there yeah pretty relatable he had to take a drop he hit it to like 10 feet and made a a bogey and luckily he had a big enough lead but that I don’t know if that dude’s game is built for the US Open let’s just put it that way he’s for for being a very very good player that dude was hitting it all over he hit it in the [ __ ] thick stuff off number one with a hybrid he’s like he’s like your buddy that’s like I can’t hit drivers because I can’t hit it straight he is Jonathan Samson like dude Johnny’s got that exact same title as hybrid he hits it like 260 and he hits that [ __ ] off the te all the time because he he can’t hit drivers so so maybe Bobby Mack and Johnny Samson are the same person never seen him in the same place at once all right let’s uh let’s roll some of these Bobby ma Clips uh so we’ve got a few here we’ve got one uh this is great so just the fans the Scott like the fans from Europe like there’s so many Americans in golf that the fans aren’t as crazy but this is just a little clip from PGA Tour of we will follow Bobby [Music] we will follow I didn’t see Bobby win in Scotland but I saw Bobby win in Canada which means more than me because that’s where I’m from my mom’s from Scotland anywhere anywhere we follow big Legend he signed a bunch of autographs was like super nice afterwards next clip we have I think is just a photo or no this is this is a good one NOP let’s roll this one this is great so this is just his post round interview play a little bit of it but his dad is incredible too so we’re going to roll that through tears you just said to me who would have thought I have to think this man to your left has believed in you your entire life but why is this one so emotional for you because of best I mean I’m speechless to be honest uh I don’t think I’m looking for a caddy I think link are looking for a Green Key Bar it’s just yeah this is just everything for me and my family my girlfriend my team can’t believe I done it with him in the bag it’s just I’m crying with joy but laughing because I don’t think it was possible this life on the road is not easy and in Myrtle Beach Utah talked about being homesick you bring your dad out the biggest piece of home you could ask for by your side how much has this help determine this you know I was I was going down the last day and was trying to tell me stay focused just swing smooth cuz yesterday I got a little bit too fast and in my head I wasn’t listening to him I was like I’m want to win this with my dad like this has been this a guy that’s taught me the game of golf and I just can’t believe I done this with him in the bag dad it looks like you’re taking this one all in what is it like Elite Athlete on your own you have been so committed to your son’s success ever since he showed passion for the game what’s it like to be a part of this moment unbelievable yeah I’m a grass cutter no sry oh can honestly it’s unbelievable I got phoned last Saturday night you phoned me I’m sitting in the couch at home 8:00 Saturday night and I’m can I leave my job here I was I’m busy at work of course you can 8:00 the next morning I’m in a flight out here and wow just one last question you’ve now played yourself into the memorial into the US Open into Travelers is Dad hired on the bag for the next three big weeks no Dad’s on the flight home on Monday and I think I think me and my girlfriend might go home um on Monday as well and just have a hell party back home because this is this is incredible the whole support I’ve had from from Scotland there uh I think it’s so legendary where he’s just like I don’t want to go play the memorial I’m I’m good okay does he give his cat his dad 10% or is he getting way more than that or what’s what’s the story there well so he said he was going to pay off his parents mortgage so who knows what that number is but it sounds like he’s paying off their mortgage so uh whether that’s a couple hundred Euro or however it breaks down um but yeah I I definitely think he’s slipping him a little bit more than the standard 10 the other funny part too um obviously this is super touching and it it just like makes you so happy and it’s a heartwarming story but even uh he his dad to his dad must have told him he’s like I’m not not doing your your yardages CU Robert McIntyre was stepping off all of his own yardages by himself so how funny is that his dad’s on the bag his dad’s standing there his son’s stepping off all the yardages he’s just letting him do his thing like he’s basically quote unquote cying for himself you know there’s when you have a guy that doesn’t really he knows golf well but he hasn’t been with you all year all that there’s really nothing nothing much that he can provide other than support and you know encouragement and it sounds like that’s all all Bobby Mack needed to get the job done but yeah the fact that he’s going back not go not going to play the memorial or the purse is huge again um to go party with his buddies is just it’s so on brand for like Scot Scottish dudes like he’s probably still drunk right now oh 100% um shout out another shout out to just a random fan that got to caddy for CT pan fluff uh very old historic caddy on the PGA tour I believe he’s 76 years old hurt himself literally is historic if you look at him he looks like the [ __ ] Lorax he got hurt uh CT pan just had a random fan carry his bag ended up I think he made bogy on the first hole but he ended up like hulling out for Eagle on one of the holes uh and the guy you know is just not doing anything he’s just carrying the bag but still kind of an incredible story that just a fan get put in so so real quick he ended up having four caddies that day because what happened was so fluff got hurt the random fan comes out just an absolute hot B [ __ ] unit of a guy can hardly fit the bib around him but an alltime story to tell um and then the director of caddy comes out from the PJ tour hops on his bag relieves the big fella of his duties and then I guess there was another caddy whose player hadn’t made the cut that was still in the area and they reached out to him so it went from The Spectator to like the caddy director to this other caddy whose player had missed the cut um so an just a cluster [ __ ] of a uh round for CT Pan and the fact that like I didn’t even know fluff was still on the PJ t or caddying so that was kind of like oh [ __ ] fluff got hurt he’s [ __ ] he’s still out there doing it like there’s some serious Hills out there so I I could see how he would slip and eat [ __ ] yeah dude and his nose was all bloody he looked like a [ __ ] old man on a ship dude just like absolutely just destroyed like couldn’t even I felt I felt horrible no that is terrible you got to think made enough money now where he doesn’t have to keep working at the age of 7 you said he’s 77 76 [ __ ] what what is he doing man go go retire that is insane um speaking of retiring we’re about to retire this podcast but we also want to talk about our Mulligan of the week so every Monday we have a mulligan of the week it’s where something happened to us in the past week we wish we could have it back or make a different decision uh I’ll start out with mine so I’m very particular about even my my t-shirts when I wear them if I’m wearing them out in public and not just at home lounging on my couch I can’t stand when my shit’s wrinkled uh it drives me crazy I’ve actually just added a third arm to my closet to where I can hang just my t-shirts up so they’re not wrinkled when I put them on long story short I decide to iron my shirts when I pick out a shirt that I want to wear if I pull it out and it’s wrinkled I iron it so I was ironing my shirt the other day in the morning and I go to where my iron plugs in it’s like a behind my kind of couch so in my room so I go to reach behind the couch and unplug the iron and it’s sitting up and I just Sizzle my ribs just iron hot iron straight to my ribs I’ve got like a two inch long just line right across my ribs and so that’s going to be there forever which is kind of cool because I look [ __ ] tough now but the way it happened was pretty sad it’s not like I got tell you tell a story and you’re like yeah I had to iron my t-shirt yeah I got sliced at War right across the just barely skimmed me though [ __ ] still alive no I was ironing a [ __ ] K’s light t-shirt trying to wear it to work and never ended up even wearing it what what an l oh my God you’re a bum um and I will say also you have a million t-shirts so just the fact isn’t it funny how you go through rotations though where you’ll wear like the same six or seven shirts for like a couple months and then you’ll like flip around your drawers or whatever and then all of a sudden there you forget that there’s a shirt that you had and you’re like holy [ __ ] I missed this shirt um I go through that I don’t know if you do because you you have an entire room yeah dude I’ll find shirts that I’m like oh I forgot I [ __ ] had this this is sweet I’ll put this back in the road the RO yeah exactly you gotta get it back in the Roa um so my Mulligan of the week uh so when we were leaving Saturday to go to the beach and go to the golf course and then the beach I had to go stop by my car cuz it’s parked across the street in a lot and so I put my car keys in uh my girlfriend’s purse in the car in her car and uh didn’t use my car this weekend so I wasn’t thinking about it and then today I go to I want to go hit balls and then um I was gonna go bring her lunch I know such a sweet guy uh and I go to where my keys normally are and they’re so I just I realized that my keys are still in her car so I effectively did not have car keys for the day and plus this car didn’t come with spare keys which I now in hindsight feel like is illegal like I don’t know why I didn’t get a spare key with this car I don’t know how you can sell a car with one set of keys um but yeah so I didn’t have a car for the day so uh that was my Mullan of the week just being a [ __ ] dumbass and you you know like when you have a inclination that you left something somewhere and you because I I forgot my Zin can in her car as well my metal one because I was driving back so I put the Zin can like kind of on the console easy access for my like five Zen car ride and uh [ __ ] I left my Zin can but I was like I still feel like there’s something in here that I do not have and I felt that way for the last two days and now I realize it’s my car keys so oh that’s good I am on house arest for the day I did take a walk though I did take a hot boy walk and it’s hot as [ __ ] out here so I was sweating my ass off good burn some cows love that yeah got out of the house I was sweating like a [ __ ] fat hog um but other than that could not drive anywhere today so that is my Mullan of the week all right well that wraps it up for us on this Winner Circle Monday we’ll be back on Wednesday have a f full kind of recap of the longest Monday in golf today figure out if our boy Mark hubard as of this moment he is 13 under uh through 13 on the second nine leading the one uh qualifier at Cherry Hill Club Ridgeway Ontario Canada so Mark hubard probably going to be in the US Open we love that guy
