Taylormade Mini Driver vs Driving Iron – Which one should you play?

STAY TO THE END FOR THE RETRO VIBE!

Should you be buying a TaylorMade BRNR Mini Driver or a P Series Driving Iron?

Which club is suited to your style of play and also the type of golf courses you play?

In this upload I talk through the BRNR Mini Driver set up in terms of loft selection, 11.5 or 13.5 and how you should intend to use that club given the type of golf courses you play.

I look at how PGA Tour Player Tommy Fleetwood uses his Mini Driver to great effect and what the top level handicap followers can take from that versus the mid handicap learnings.

Then who considers the P Series UDI Irons and what are the differences to a wood?

What swing type and importantly attack angle gets the most from each profile?

Gear effect, the importance of strike and the benefits of a more iron shape head versus a wood are also discussed.

do you need this in your life or do you need this in your life or do you need both once you see the data the gaps are going to become apparent we’re giving you the option to get some nice yardage out of it get some distance out of it but also have the confidence that you can have a smaller head and you can hit free at it so who plays this this is the mini driver it’s been a favorite by many players out there absolutely cannot go any further without talking about Tommy Fleetwood and the exhibition he puts on with this golf club but why would you play it who are you and am I talking to you in addition who plays these the brand new P series dhy and the P Udi who uses them why use them and do you need this in your life or do you need this in your life or do you need both well of course like all things the answers are going to come down to which golf courses you play where you play and why and then the reasons behind your decisions I’m a big fan of data you know that I’m a big fan of knowing your golf game once you see the data the gaps are going to become apparent in simply gapping this club comes in 11 and a half or 13 degrees of Loft if I’m Tommy Fleetwood which trust me I wish I was as an absolute gamer that he is he’s using this as a second backup off the te if he feels uncomfortable or he’s using it these golf courses on tour that are running at 7,000 plus plus plus yardage sometimes he needs this golf club to get him into that situation this is the stronger one you can get it off the Fairway my preference for this one solely would be off the te I’m playing it with a three-wood length golf shaft so for players that sometimes struggle with a longer golf shaft struggle with strike point especially if it’s heel this could be you all day if you’re a beginner player and you really get scared of hitting driver all of a sudden now we’re giving you the option to get some nice yardage out of it get some distance out of it but also have the confidence that you can have a smaller head and you can hit free at it next thing you got to notice though if you are going to go for these minis tea height becomes crucial if you tee it too high that really is the maximum you can go half the ball over the crown no problem but the higher you go you could bring in cuz it is a little shallower some slight issues when it comes to strike point generally if you struggle with driver you’re going to be what’s deemed as steep which means you’re going to come down a little bit steep on the golf ball so by having a te height that is a little bit lower that was impressive I hope we noticed that but having a te height that’s a little bit lower now it’s going to enable you as a steeper golf hitter so if I’m hitting down on it that ball will come out with a little bit more spin but it will be in play so off the te we’re making your light a little bit easier with the mini driver the burner mini driver I should add and generally you miss which that one is a Miss for me but it’s right semi it’s not dead off the Planet that’s where you can get to yes it’s got the adjustable sleeve all the tech on this golf club I don’t need to get into because you’re subscribed and you’re watching and we’ll put the description below with the video title to learn more about the demo and the tech in the mini so you can see it and understand but if you struggle with driver or you play Beast golf courses or you’re a tournament us midam a top top player British am any of those big big events and you’re sometimes going to go to long golf courses this is something you should absolutely consider cuz you can get them off the deck in addition to the te now there are a lot of us out there certainly in the amateur world that it’s an absolute Nemesis for them to even consider anything that is borderline of wood well now we got you covered at tailor made and you get into these two again description below will give you the breakdown of all the teching these this is not this purpose of this video this one is to be like do I play that or do I get into this your main difference is because the heads aren’t as long from front to back the center of gravity is closer to the blade so if you tend to M hit struggle to deliver the golf club in the right place now you don’t have the gear effect and the twist face we know that if you hit them out the toe it’ll come back to the Center for you hit it out the heel it will fade back to the center the ion doesn’t have that same gear effect so generally speaking if you miss the middle this won’t come back as much but it is much smaller it is much more Sleek behind the golf ball yes there’s a bit more Loft on it so you’re going to be able to get it out of the left lesser lies if I just simply Slip It Forward here into the semi- rough now I can get that pudi nicely behind it no problem to drill a golf shot out of this rough came out great went through the turf great if I want some more yardage we’ll just look at these two poppies next to each other now I’ve got the P dhy that has a little bit more meat to the back of it I won’t go te for this to show you can get get it off the ground as well and now this will come out with a bit more beef and a bit more flight based on that Center gravity location to the golf ball low launch did you notice there you could hear that but again let’s just squeeze one out bit more yardage do you know every time I hit this club I really don’t know why I’m not using it this is the one that made the Watts in the bag it’s been out recently for the 770 but it goes as you can see like that so if you do need something to really fit in behind and this is why I say you can play them both your burner mini driver this could be the perfect weapon for that which is why they both come in but I do get it some golfers struggle when the ball is teed up they get a little steep on it they want to have a driving iron that can do the job as the rest of it well that’s where you get into this and for me this one is the more beefy option or if you wanted it to sit in behind your set then this pudi is the way to go lot of options there for golfers these are all options if you don’t like the driver for me you got to get into the driver you got to take advantage of hitting it further I’ve told you before you know from following the channel stats is everything distance is everything the further down the Fairway you hit it the shorter Club you’re going to hit in but it is June the season is well underway you might be on the fence about getting something like this if you’ve got to put a Band-Aid onto your game because you’ve got to get through the summer months and hit those Fairways that are firming up and running quicker get into one of these three options and at the end of the day you’re going to get much more enjoyment out of the game CU you’re going to be in play obviously strategically for someone who’s looking for something that sits in behind the driver this is you Mr Tommy Fleet would want to be this is where you want to live 100% obviously you can play it in the 13 and a half as well so be sure to get fit for that or if you’re a player that plays those fast running summer golf courses Fairways get tight and you got to hit them well that’s where better players are going to be looking at these two options any more information you want is all down in the description below be sure to dive into the comments if you aren’t driving it mint let’s find some Fairways and get some happiness out of golf oh one last thing before you dive off be sure to hit subscribe you remembered that but I mean how good’s the head cover this thing is absolutely golden little tag on there and also any of you that remember which Taylor Made fair play for doing this when I was a junior we used to to do this if you pull the burner mini driver head cover inside out it still has the original lining that they used to have in the day if you know that was a thing and you stayed the video this long be sure to get in the comments down below and hit me up with of course I used my mini driver head cover the wrong way round [Music] a

  1. Used to love my SLDR mini w/Matrix black tie 6m3. Couldn't get on with the 300 mini as the head was just too big. Now use a TSR3+ as my backup tee club but do wish the head was a little bigger

  2. That mini driver is fun, if I still had a 3 wood in my bag it would replace it in a heartbeat. I have long since gotten rid of my 3 and go 5 wood hybrid. If you have a 3 wood in your bag but basically just use it off the tee I highly recommend the mini driver because it will serve the same purpose but be 1000 times easier to hit.

  3. I have both a driving iron 2i and mini driver that I swap between depending on the course. My actual driver is fade bias while I increased the loft on the mini driver to make it draw bias. The shorter shaft and higher loft makes the ball flight way more controllable without sacrificing too much distance off the tee. The 2i gets swapped in on windy days or if there are specific holes on the course Im playing where it would benefit me to have more control on the ballflight/I need something to stay low and run out

  4. Anyone use the mini driver shorter than the standard 43.75? Considering playing it at 43.

  5. Great comparison video and for me I'd love the mini driver (as I don't generally get on with 3 woods) but really don't get why 1. It's so hard to get one and 2. You can't get custom fit for it, only 1 shaft choice and it doesn't come in x-stiff. Seems a shame as I think as a product it's fantastic

  6. Hi trottie is there any shafts you can recommend for my IQ 10 a was talking about to you I'm sure I'm needing a 60gram but I'm still going to cc golf in Glasgow to try some

  7. I have both clubs, love the mini driver! I have the p-dhy 3 iron, but I think I may have been better getting the udi. I don’t do well with chunky soles. Anyway mini is an awesome club and I carry it along with my driver, cause I am very consistent with the mini and I can’t say the same with driver. Gotta save that for wide fairways, cause I’m always good for those leaking wide right balls when I get into my head on the tee box

  8. i have a 2 and 3 iron and mini burner in my bag. im not a great golfer but i hit these irons pretty well. the mini burner is an absolute weapon. i have the 11.5 heavy weight forward set to lowest loft.hit it off the fairway and it just goes

  9. I've got the Mini Driver 13.5 as a 3 wood replacement (more of a 2 wood) and the 2 P UDI replaces my 5 wood on really windy days (Like you've been saying lately, it's the main "in the squad" club, along with some other lofted wedges from my usual 52-58.) Both clubs are great for keeping the ball low and straight for me if I need to.

  10. why didnt TM or Callaway just make a bigger 3w head with a an adjustable loft starting at 13*?

  11. I have both. I play the brnr mini at 9.5 degrees, then a 4 wood 16.5 and then the pdhy 3 iron as a almost exclusively tee shot club and bonus, I carry an older taylormade super steel 7 wood with a modern hybrid shaft in it which plays as like my 4 iron or even close to the same distance by 3 iron would go off the deck but easier to hit off the deck

  12. I honestly believe that the mini driver, by it's length and loft, is what most of us should be using. Still waiting on mine, looks like TM is backordered

  13. Taylormade kill it with innovative golf clubs. I’ve been gaming the 13.5 Mini Driver last couple of months and have the older SIM DHY 3. Having success with both. Confidence inspiring

  14. I don't understand. This seems like the big bertha I had in the 90s. Then we said we needed a bigger head for more forgiveness… now we're back to get a smaller head if you're struggling to keep it in the fairway with the bigger head?
