these are the FootJoy Quantum a brand new casual spikeless golf shoe from FootJoy this is going to be a to the point review in this video I’ll cover sizing Comfort performance as well as what other shoes you might want to consider instead of these and it’s this last section that I think foot Joy have got a little bit of a problem hit the like button if you find this video helpful and let’s crack up in terms of fit just like the majority of foot Joy golf shoes they run large so most people will probably benefit from sizing down half a size from their regular shoe size the shoes have relatively neutral arch support they don’t necessarily sit up too high or a too flat and there is plenty of room in and around your toes on these shows if you open the laes up then it does actually have quite a nice wide section along the front plenty of room to get your foot in the main focus of these shoes are their comfort underfoot you can see here that foot Joy have got a significant amount of mid so cushion in here especially around the hill and when combined with the alal light impressions in sole I’m pleased to report that these are very comfortable underfoot they are nice and soft to walk in I didn’t have any issues walking 18 holes on the course Straight Out of the Box in these shoes this is a new midsole foam for foot joy and it is nice and soft it’s not as cloudlike as something like an Adidas boost but it does have a really good balance of being nice and Squishy underf foot while still giving you enough support as well the tongue is quite flat at the top but it is nice and wide so again it’s nice and comfortable on the top of your foot and there’s not a huge amount of padding around the heel and Ankle but it’s still soft enough and I didn’t have any problem with blisters on these shoes at all as you can see here it has already started to kind of break down and crease and start to kind of get nice and soft and mold to my foot it’s not necessarily the most breathable shoe in the world so I have no problems with using this out in the summer because it is a nice lightweight casual shoe but your feet might get a little bit hot when the temperature really starts pushing it another reason why this shoe is really comfortable to walk in is just the natural ergonomics of it foot Joy have actually shaped and sculpted the rear of the shoe so I could really kind of feel it was encouraging me to kind of Walk Hill and toe out on the course these aren’t a pair of running shoes that have been tailored and turned into a pair of golf shoes with running shoes you’re really trying to encourage that toe first and then heel with these you’re definitely being encouraged to kind of naturally walk in these shoes these are a pair of shoes that I think FootJoy have designed to be worn to the course during your round on the course and then you can even drive home in them at the end of the day however I wouldn’t say that these are a casual pair of shoes that can be worn absolutely anywhere at any time casually off the course I mean you could if you really wanted to but I think these have still been designed with an element of performance in mind and I’ve got to say that in terms of stability and traction they perform surprisingly well even though they have quite a casual look and the out soole isn’t particularly aggressive you can see here that you have a combination of rubber wedges along with these kind of conical sections at the middle of the shoe as well as I mentioned this is a rubber outso so you’re getting plenty of traction on the co but you were also getting plenty of traction on regular surfaces off the co but on the other hand these will wear down significantly quicker than those TPU sections that you get on other shoes now I’ll be more than happy to wear these for a casual summer round I didn’t necessarily slip in them but I wouldn’t trust them when the conditions got wet and muddy or if I was going to be playing in the club championships where I really wanted to guarantee that my Footwear would not slip out on the course for any of the shots that I played they’re giving you elements of support in these so you can definitely play a decent round of golf in these you’ve got an internal heel counter and so you get a fairly locked in feel with the shoe but you can see here because of the combination of the foam and that rubber out so you’re not getting the stiffest golf shoe in the world you haven’t really got a huge amount of support in this midfoot section these are definitely designed to be a more comfortable casual fit and as such you have to sacrifice some of that stability and performance a quick note to say that the laces are kind of textured you’ve got these lumps and bumps all the way through them and that means that they did a really good job actually of staying done up right the way through my round even though it was just on a single knot I did do my full waterproof test on these shoes as well and as you can see here because there is no gusset at the bottom of the tongue then when you do get water directly over that tongue area it is going to come through so the upper very much is waterproof but I wouldn’t go stepping in any puddles or using these in heavy downpours in terms of the looks I’d say this is a sporty casual looking shoe there’s also a lot of nice texture going on here so you can see along the upper part this is a smooth upper and then you get these texture around the laces that goes all the way around the hill as well and then you get a nice pop of this kind of patterned gray material around the ankle you’ve got a pull tab at the back as well and then actually the laces are kind of hidden from view you can see here that this section of material covers the outside of the laces as well the problem I think foot Joy have with these golf shoes is that they are in direct competition with the hugely popular retool trainer versions that are currently flooding the market from pretty much every major brand Nike have currently got the Air Max 1 OG as well as the Pegasus not to mention the Jordan one low golf shoes Adidas have got their Ultra boost sambar as well as Stan Smith spikeless golf shoes pumer have got the GS and the slipstream and even under arour have got the Phantom as well as as the Steph Curry signature shoes and that’s not to mention the casual spikeless golf shoes that you can currently get from the likes of qu TR linkx and G4 so there will no doubt be a core FootJoy fan base who will be willing to give these new shoes a try and if you’re happy to experiment with them I think that you’re going to be actually pretty happy with them overall but I don’t think they’re going to make a huge impact in the casual style spikeless golf shoe market the brand loyalty to those classic sneaker designs that golfers grow with is just going to be too strong if you’re looking for a pair of really comfortable and breathable golf shoes this summer then you might want to check out the Adidas Ultra boost instead or if you’re looking for something that performs really well and has a little bit more of a bold style to it then you’re probably going
