Rickie Fowler shoots 6-under 64 | Round 1 highlights | Travelers

In the opening round of the 2024 Travelers Championship, Rickie Fowler carded a bogey-free 6-under 64 to sit two shots off the lead.

One week after a thrilling U.S. Open, the PGA TOUR heads to Connecticut for the Travelers Championship at TPC River Highlands. This is the final Signature Event of the 2024 PGA TOUR regular season. Keegan Bradley returns this week to defend his title after setting the tournament scoring record of 23-under par last year. He’s claimed two runner-up finishes this season at the Sony Open in Hawaii and Charles Schwab Challenge three weeks ago. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler will also be in action and looks to bounce back from his T41 finish at the U.S. Open last week. From the final round of the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday and into the U.S. Open was Scheffler’s first time shooting five straight over-par rounds. Scheffler will look to claim another victory this week, as he has already won five times this season and finished T4 here at the Travelers last year. PGA Championship winner Xander Schauffele will also tee it up in Connecticut this week. The World No. 2 has 11 top-10 finishes in 15 events this season, including a T7 at the U.S. Open last week. Others to look out for this week include Collin Morikawa, Tony Finau, Ludvig Åberg and Hideki Matsuyama.

riie Fowler just the latest to find the right hand rough at the first yeah and really thick over there but might get away with a par if he can hold that one Ricky trying to escape first with a par took some [Applause] [Applause] work been a frustrating season for him you know he would like a productive week get a little something building toward the title defense in Detroit next week very nice pretty nice up and down kind of carry it over and nice party both drivers of M Fairway right actually pretty good pretty good lie that he drew in the rough and took advantage of it oh Ricky that will settle just about three feet away good chance to get it to a couple under here and this is an easy look right here little right to left very encouraging start for Ricky yeah difficult Par Four [Music] here sounded a little skinny little thin there but yeah clearly got enough contact on it wonderful shot right there for Ricky Fowler and that’s a chance to add one more to the tally here in the early going 160 14 yds down the hill just kind of a light nine irony playing very confidently a little launching pad for Ricky here at the par 513 really close to the pant area right there [Music] oh it does did great shot came out fraction SP I saw it Fowler aboard the 13th and two you’re right it is pretty much the same put we saw from batia so a couple feet remaining for his birdie to get Ricky to modus four and within two Davis playing with Ricky Fowler now his turn at 16 one also just right at the flag stick yeah beautiful Carl Ricky may have found something here this Thursday morning yeah let’s hope so same style putter is wendham Clark and using left hand low Rick making more putts dece at 16 second on the way for a Fowler at 17 little wider the mark but 17 rookie from Clear across the green here good for Pace good oh what a birdie some serious energy in the crowd sweeping Fowler along in this opening round 143 a little deep and I like this play right here he’s going to take that Fringe out of play he’s going to put just a little bit of check on it right there you see it grab and then let gravity take over that’s kind of that grab and go shot you know right back up the hill solid round to golf very encouraging day indeed 32 on each side for Fowler Ricky fourth in approach second in putting seems like some things put free today what what kind of went well well there’s still a lot of guys to play so uh hopefully those will stay up there and yeah mentioned it a couple times made a good par on the first and that kind of got me going um good up and down and made a made a nice putt just to kind of save power and and get the round going sometimes I would I’d almost rather that than Birdie the firsto cuz then it’s kind of all downhill from there um so yeah I got off to a nice start birdie II um started to see some balls go in and uh making putts kind of freeze up the rest of the game to where you don’t feel like you have to be perfect um yeah just kind of kept it fairly simple what would you point to about why this season maybe hasn’t gone the way you’ve hoped it to go um I mean a a big one putting was was something that I could rely on last year um something I’ve tried to get back to where I was um as well as other parts of the game but I feel like um a lot of it can can go back to not puttting well uh like I was [Music] saying potting well helps free up other things and you know you’re not seeing putts go in and it kind of adds some some extra stress to you know having to you know hit greens or hit it closer um you know chip it close um that circle gets quite a bit bigger once you see some go in um that’s a big part um and and some of it too like I’ve been been close on on driving and ball striking um but we’re not able to take advantage of when you do hit it well um probably the the easiest way to to point out too is is putting does help a lot um but that’s not always the only thing thanks for watching the PJ Tour on YouTube for more videos click here to subscribe click here
