hey there welcome into fantasy baseball today on Monday June 17th I am Frank stanfold joined by Scott White and Chris Towers first and foremost Happy Father’s Day to you Scotty and to all the great dads out there how the weekend go did you uh celebrate with the family I see the shirt best dad yeah I got a new shirt best dad ever and it’s like Braves branded ah so you know best D ever I think there there may be I I will allow that there may be a certain about amount of hyperbole there we don’t they only think that they only think that CU you’re their dad right like they haven’t had any other dads well we don’t keep precise rankings of these things to be perfectly honest I I could be but you know probably probably there’s some I will say I in the glove yeah I will say without certainty with with complete certainty I mean that I am the best dad on this podcast that yeah that that makes sense I think I don’t know I mean Chris is a pretty good cat dad at least from what that’s true that’s true DN good uh anyway today on the show tons of big injuries to talk about looking at those Dodgers unfortunately we have all the waiver wire moves starter sick questions and much more but let’s just get right into it rip the Band-Aid off because it was a rough weekend for the Dodgers at least uh on the injury front Muki Bett suffered a fracture on a bone in his left wrist and does not need surgery but will be out quote for some time according to Dave Roberts who also said Miguel roas is expected to see the majority of starts at shortstop while Muki Betts is out and Betts entered Sunday as the 17th overall player in Roto seventh best hitter in head toad points universally a top I would say five or six player drafted in every draft this year so obviously this is a really really big loss for fantasy and especially from a versatility perspective I mean you’re playing this guy all over the place it’s Outfield second base shortstop so I guess let’s just hit on The Replacements right at the top and uh Scott some of your sleeper hitters for the week uh this upcoming week in the alfield pretty good group of outfielders at least Andy pz Ian hap Alec burles Jacob young and Charlie Blackman I believe three of those names will have some amount of games in Kors field this week yeah and Charlie Blackman all of them which is why he’s even on the list and he was a replacement for Jesse Winker remember when we talked about this Friday Winker was on this list but he suffered a knee injury of his own doesn’t sound serious but it’s uh not worth gambling by calling him a sleeper hitter when he could miss some of this week so yeah I mean among those available enough in CBS sports leagues to qualify for this list I would say those are your best choice choices for this upcoming week and maybe you should play it week to week I don’t you know broken bone no surgery I’m hopeful four to six weeks like maybe right after the All-Star break we could see mookie bets back in the Dodgers lineup um so maybe it won’t be maybe it won’t feel that long if you don’t want to resort to the waiver wire like you know the chances even over a four-week period of a waiver wire outfielder delivering you giving you anything close to mookie bets type production is pretty low um Nolan Jones just came off the iil he’s only 81% roster that’s if he if you’re in one of those leagues I think he’s the obvious choice right well yes if you can pick him up yes that’s somebody who could emulate mooki BET’s production over a short period of time obviously got off to a horrible start before the injury um but we didn’t lose faith in him and I think he struck out only once since returning yeah had three today twice twice in three games yeah four for eight with a stolen base five walks to two strikeouts in three games since returning so he’s he’s already looking better I I wasn’t even talking about from a pick him up perspective I was just saying if you’re if you want to play the trade market I I think Nolan Jones would still qualify as a pretty good by low candidate and you could probably get him for dirt cheap too I thought it was encouraging that coming back from both back and knee injuries he’s already out there running stole a base this weekend so I thought that was pretty encouraging for Nolan Jones how about some of the other positions you might be using mookie bets at second base or shortstop at second Nick Gonzalez is 71% rostered Joey Ortiz is 65% Willie Castro you could play all over the place he’s 64% rostered and Luis Garcia does have the six games this week three of those in Kors field he is 40% and then at shortstop uh also Willie CER who I mentioned Mason win is 60% David Hamilton who just stole four bases on Sunday Night Baseball the Red Sox in general just went wild career-high uh franchise record excuse me nine steals in one game against the Yankees on Sunday Night Baseball Chris is there anyone there that specifically stands out in the middle infield uh names like Gonzalez Ortiz David Hamilton yeah I mean a couple weeks ago we were talking a lot about if Mason win is hitting lead off for the Cardinals well he has L off every single game in the month of June so far so that is one that you know I think he can hit 280 with 10 homers 20 steals over a full season possibly more so I I think he’s a pretty good one David Hamilton kind of just a Ste steel specialist doesn’t really play against lefties so you know limited utility there I’d throw out Paul D Young Who I certainly don’t expect to continue this hot streak but that’s what seven homers over his fast past 15 games strikeout rate has been down in that uh range of dates um Barrel rate and quality of contact is okay for him so I like him I’ll throw I he hasn’t done anything yet and we don’t expect him to be off or or up for long but Adel adamor is that how we pronounce his name I haven’t I don’t think I’ve said his name out loud yet I believe it’s Adel Amador Adel Amador um he’s got seven games of course this week so you know if you want to take a chance at that and then at second base I really like Spencer hitz you know I I don’t necessarily think he’s going to be a Difference Maker moving forward but strong contact skills leading off against righties for the Blue Jays right now um he’s a sleeper hitter for this upcoming week too because they’re facing nothing but righties yeah I think that’s a pretty good one um yeah so for the middle infield can I throw out a couple more outfielders sure uh Jared Kellick let off for the Braves at least once this week right did he did he lead off twice I for him to lead off against Ry against righties yeah yeah he let off both Saturday and Sunday and homered both Saturday and Sunday and I I might have done this wrong because I have him hitting 300 since the start of May that doesn’t sound right does it his aage is pretty good he’s just not hitting for much power so yeah I until Saturday and Sunday yeah that sounds wrong in his last so this is the number I wrote down for Kellick in his last 18 games MH 30 five with three homers okay um I’ll also this one’s kind of a long shot because he’s not actually in the majors right now but Tiger’s got to be close to calling Parker Meadows back up he was a guy that a lot of people liked coming into the season uh Frank I think you had him as a sleeper he’s hitting 287 with like a 930 Ops since going back to Triple A tigers have some offensive wos so I mean don’t ask Spencer arti about their offensive Wes but ask the other Astros pitchers uh and they will tell you so I think Parker Meadows as a stash in deeper leagues makes sense he’s 9% rostered again if you if we’re talking about upside and and chasing guys who could get hot for a month and help you avoid losing too much with Muki out I think Parker Meadows makes some sense there I got another trade Target too for shortstop Dan Swanson who I’ve seen dropped in some shallower leagues if you’re getting dropped if if you reached a point where you getting dropped in shallower leagues then you can probably be had be had pretty easily in a trade in deeper leagues and yeah it’s having a miserable season so far but good track record we’ve been there before yeah for a month for a month at a time we’ve seen Swanson put up bets like numbers before so uh you know obviously you’re you’re not getting a sure thing and unless you’re giving up half your roster for it so you just have to recognize that to a certain degree you’re going to be gambling no matter what direction you go that number I had on Kellick it’s since the start of June okay yeah don’t want to spread misinformation on the internet so yeah couple of their names in deeper leagues I know you brought up Paul D Young Chris uh I think Miguel roas again this is like 15 team Roto andl only might be more interested in Miguel Vargas just maybe he gets an opportunity perhaps yeah I know look the Dodgers have good matchups this week so I think roas could make some sense Nixon zel they have three games in Kors and the aformentioned Charlie Blackman again all of The Replacements you could possibly ask for for Muki bets unfortunately out with a fracture on a bone in his left wrist let’s talk about the other big injury and Yoshi noou Yamamoto left Saturday start with right triceps tightness he was then placed on the 15-day iil on Sunday and we later found out that he’s dealing with a strained rotator cuff and it’s not season ending but will take time to heal uh Yamamoto was ranked as a top 10 starting pitcher for each of us Chris I need you to throw on those scrubs the fantasy doctor is here do you have any idea how much time Yamamoto might miss with this injury uh I am not at all any kind of doctor but I do have a baseball prospectus subscription and they have something thing called the recovery dashboard that tracks how long it took for players to come back from various injuries and if you sort by rotator cuff and take away contusion because I don’t think that’s really relevant here um it’s not great so of the 20 players in their database since 2017 pitchers who had rotator cuff strains five of them were back within 20 days another one was back within 21 days eight were back within 30 days and then 8 nine 10 were out at least 55 days so it does seem like there is a chance that this is just a short-term thing and look everything the Dodgers have said so far eight hours after we learned about the injury is that it’s not considered serious it’s not season ending is what Dave Robert said although that that feels like it’s not season ending yet but one setback is is the the concern there so I I’m not saying drop Yoshi noi Yamamoto I’m not saying his season is over I’m just saying there is probably a wide range of outcomes here that stretches from he’s in their rotation on July 10th or I I do think there’s a possibility that things just go wrong enough as we’ve seen with kodai senga right it’s a different type of injury but but still the shoulder still a serious injury if kodai senga’s injury had happened June 17th rather than you know March 10th or whatever it was you know you start to do the timetable there in your head and it’s pretty close to bumping up against the end of the season so that that’s my concern is that while it’s not necessarily certain at all yeah there’s definitely risk that this wrecks Yamamoto sees but if I if I track those numbers you gave I was just doing quick math in my head it was like 65 to 70% of the the cases were back within a month uh no it’s about 45% within a month the median is right around 50 days missed okay yeah again that is Yamamoto who is dealing with a rotator cuff injury I guess the one good news item the Dodgers got this weekend is that Bobby Miller will return from the I to start Wednesday in Colorado taking the spot of Yamamoto in the rotation that’s a pretty easy bench right first start back and it’s in Coors so Y no thanks on Bobby Miller right rather not yeah all right let’s take our first break and when we return we will get into some of the players of the weekend we’ll get into some waiver wire pitches for Yamamoto Replacements We’ll do that right after this I think the cool part about being on Team USA is that everyone represents the American dream whether you’re white straight male athlete or me who’s an Asian-American queer female athlete I want to be the Beacon of Hope that a lot of other people don’t [Music] have welcome back in let’s get into the players of the weekend Oh my good goodness gracious all right Scott you got the best dad ever shirt on the Atlanta Braves logo where are we going I mean I think the biggest story of the weekend was the Braves lineup because it seems like right at the point we noticed they were a good matchups for pitchers the Braves lineup they stopped being a good matchup for pitchers so we had three uh pretty highly regarded fantasy pitchers go against them this weekend in that Ray series Zack latel Ryan pepio and Zack effin and they all got knocked around pretty good um and specifically for the Braves hitters well we talked about um Kellick Jared Kellick being moved into the leadoff spot and what he did had three hits Saturday in addition to that home run by the way uh Austin Riley guy we hadn’t heard from all year he homered in all three games of the series and was hitting the ball very hard overall went six for 10 for the entire series Matt Olen he homered on Saturday and went three for three with a double on on Sunday and now in his last 33 games so you know pretty long stretch Matt Olson is batting 332 with seven home runs and Ops near 950 um still waiting for aie alz to heat up but overall this lineup appears to be trending the right direction I don’t know that I’m as comfortable I don’t know that I was ever comfortable starting two start resing white socks and Braves but those were looking like two pretty good matchups on Friday White Soxs remains a good match up I’m not sure so sure that Braves match up is good anymore and you know and this turn for the Braves lineup kind of presents hope for the entire league um I believe the Braves were still even throughout their struggles they were the class of baseball in terms of exit velocities uh and so that made them a crystal clear case of okay if League conditions improve these guys are going to go off uh but you know we’re just talking about Dan B Swanson a a bunch of other hitters with wellestablished track records are still performing well below expectations and it is heating up it was I know in that game Ryan pepio started in Atlanta it was 94 degrees and he talked about how he just got gassed um plus the ball tra travels better and hotter and Carries better I should say and hotter in humid more humid weather and uh you know hopefully this is an example of what could be to come for the hitter class in general let’s hope so and you touched on the name I thought the biggest um name or you know the one that I was most encouraged by was Austin Riley the fact that it’s been you know he was three home runs entering this weekend on the season he doubled that in one weekend’s worth of action so hopefully this is the start of the turnaround for Austin Riley and hopefully you bought low while you could because uh it looks like that window has slammed shut if I could say one more thing real quick I’m not sure are we going to talk about Zack latel later in the show I have him as part of a dropo meter but okay talk talk about it now if you want yeah I I think he’s pretty droppable because now in this month he’s pitched 14 Innings given up 12 ear runs on 26 hits so nearly twice as many hits as innings pitched only seven strikeouts in those 14 Innings he just does not seem to have enough all right Chris let’s go over to you player of the weekend uh DJ in your box scores unless you play on cbssports.com then he’s David John Herz David John is a single name yeah single one-word name David John why his mama named him David John so I’m gonna call him David John why is it Joseph Ortiz Frank these are not questions were meant to know the answers to Nathaniel La ver low versus Joshua low who knows either way DJ Herz David John Herz was phenomenal this weekend it was against the Marlins there were a lot of pitchers who did really well against Bad lineups this weekend but he did better than just about anyone 13 strikeouts over six Innings of work gave up one hit no earned runs he got 25 swinging Miss swinging strikes uh 21 swinging strikes on 84 pitches 13 of them with the fast ball six with the change up this is a dude who has a 33.5% strikeout rate for his career at the minor league level do not ask about his walk rate David John Herz does not like to talk about his walk rate it’s 15% that’s really really bad yeah I think this is probably a blame the Marlins situation but this guy has pretty good stuff uh I mean the strikeout rate in the miners kind of speaks for itself but he’s got this like Crossfire delivery I’m trying to figure out who he reminds me of there’s a little bit of like McKenzie Gore but he’s more sideways and not quite as big um but either way the the fast ball for only averaging 92.8 miles per hour was really impressive the Change Up played really well off of it in all likelihood I think DJ Herz is probably not going to matter for Fantasy I think the walks are probably going to be too big of an issue and he will just kind of be a a guy who occasionally blows up but for the most part is not very good but I mean we had to talk about him given how good he looked in this one and uh I I’ve put in a few way wire claims for him I actually don’t love that I added him in tout Wars where I have to start him at Colorado that might go poorly but I need to make up ground in the non relief pitcher categories so you know we’ll see but yeah I think he’s worth adding just in case you show this kind of upside we’re gonna add you I I mean for those 15 team leagues Roto leagues where every normally any time you get a breakout start for a pitcher uh that’s the number one pickup when waivers run Sunday night I did not put particularly big bids in on DJ Herz and I I won him in two of my 315 Roto leagues because it just seemed like everyone was so disinterested uh you know he’s done a better job with control in the majors so far you know we’re talking about three starts but it wouldn’t be unprecedented for a pitcher to come up and start walking fewer batters it’s not like his control was quite Joe Boya level in the mind minor it wasn’t good remember Luis heel I mean I’m not saying he’s going to go Luis heel but Luis Hill had a 18% walk rate in April he’s an unconventional pitcher DJs you mentioned the low velocity but I was reading the scouting report on baseball America hitters say it’s a deceptive fast ball that catches up to them quickly and plays Beyond its velocity and then he has a great change up to go with it so you could see that working out if he’s able to throw to throw enough strikes and you know we were complaining about Mitchell Parker’s walk rate in the miners for the Nationals and he’s come up and been a control artist and Jake Irvin’s made huge strides with control for them too so I don’t know if there’s something going on with their development program there that might help address this issue for DJ herdz remember that sign everybody was making fun of in spring training they had a sign in their Bullpen that said it doesn’t matter how hard you throw ball four where you at nerds in your face I don’t remember that but that’s maybe something to that you know when you mentioned that the fastball plays up for DJ herdz um I wanted to look into the extension and it turns out he’s 74th percentile through his first three starts so pretty good for a guy who’s 6’2 you know he’s not huge it’s yeah I think it’s something that obviously could help with that and I think long term he probably needs like another another pitch a third pitch that’s reliable but I mean a good extension fast ball up in the zone with a really really good change up yeah he could probably he can surprise I think with with some decent Starts Here There moving forward so just wanted to throw that out there uh with DJ Herz for me it’s gonna be uh Hunter Brown who has turned his season around and uh this is a name much more so for shallower leagues compared to someone like Herz who’s only like 14% rostered but hunter Brown at the at home against the Tigers this weekend threw seven shutout Innings five hits zero walks had nine strikeouts 15 whiffs on 96 pitch is he continues to Tinker with that pitch mix he’s gone away from the fast ball he threw a lot more sinkers in this start he added more Cutters and Sliders as well he’s got like five or six different pitches that he can mess with so I think whatever is working that day is something that Hunter Brown can continue to to go with on a start to start basis and over his past five starts it’s a 174 ER a84 whip 10.2k per nine 59% ground ball rate and I think most most encouraging for me is 83.2 average exit velocity during that time he was getting crushed earlier on in the season even last year lots of hard contact that has completely turned around for Hunter Brown who is 75% rostered and he’s at the White Soxs this week so might only be out there in like 10 team leagues 12 team points leagues but I think you mentioned top the the waiver wire well not quite to the top him versus Taj Bradley Taj Bradley’s rostered in basically the the same number of leagues I think Brandon F’s right in the same range I I would go fought had a very nice start this weekend as well um all three saer pitchers for next week I think I’d go Bradley Brown fought Bradley Brown Brandon uh in that order um yeah I agree but you mentioned the Sinker He Didn’t Throw That pitch before May 5th and since then he has a three a 258 ra with 52 strikeouts and 45 Innings with only 15 walks it’s like a 8% walk rate so that’s really good production from Hunter Brown over you know a month and a half now where he made a a significant change to his approach so I think it’s potentially significant and that for seamer was the main pitch getting crushed average exsit velocity on it this year is 93 miles per hour almost it’s still his most thrown pitch for the season but he’s been fading that for Seer throughout this good stretch only through it 17% of the time in this last start so yeah uh talented pitcher seems to be trending the right direction through a deliberate Arsenal change I think those check a lot of boxes want to give an honorable mention to the Red Sox who I already kind of mentioned earlier but a franchise record with nine steals against the Yankees on Sunday Night Baseball jiren Duran two for four with two more steals he’s now up to 17 David Hamilton four steals in that game he’s up to 18 in just 47 games he’s 41% rostered and I I think the top option if you’re looking for Speed right now is David Hamilton seon rafhaela is uh you know quietly doing some things three for four with his ninth steel I believe he had another three- hit game this weekend uh he’s got seven homers nine Steals on the season has that triple eligibility rafhaela and then Bobby dobeck and Dom Smith also swiped a bag each one more shout out to the New York Mets who are Five-0 since Grimace throughout the first pitch on Wednesday that’s right that Grimace the big purple blob from McDonald’s threw out a pitch and the Mets are undefeated since I I absolutely I I it’s it’s so funny it’s I I I I genuinely love Mets fans because they hate their team and they’re their right to do so but they Embrace weird stuff like this that’s that’s the kind of fan base I can get behind quick reminder to uh for the fbt newsletter if you haven’t already if you’re watching us on YouTube you can scan that QR code that will take you right to the website where you click on the fbt logo you punch in your email address and it’s easy as that you’ll get an fbt newsletter delivered right to your email inbox every weekday for free let’s hit the news and notes and another big injury that came out on Sunday Corbin Carrol left with left side discomfort and will undergo an MRI in Phoenix on Monday and I haven’t seen anything else else but the fact that he’s going for an MRI like we probably should plan to be without Corbin Carroll this week I would imagine and you’re probably welcome the excuse to sit him yeah I mean he was kind of turning it around a little bit but not like with hom yeah yeah as we mentioned earlier some potential Replacements in the outfield for this upcoming week Andy pz Ian hap Alec burles Jacob young and Charlie Blackman Michael Harris was placed in the ilil Saturday with a grade two left hamstring strain does not have a timetable to return Ramon laurano had his contract selected from Triple A and as we mentioned a few times Jared Kellick was moved up to leadoff I think in five outfielder leagues that’s a pretty natural replacement if you were relying on Michael Harris you can look at somebody like Jared Kellick in his place Kyle bradish this is pretty scary was placed in the 15-day I with a right UCL sprain the same UCL that’s already damaged and it was either last week or the previous week before that he had his start pushed back and they didn’t really give any reasoning why and perhaps this is something that was surfacing you know um and then he came back and threw a absolute gem that’s what’s crazy is he’s pitched so amazing yeah yeah I mean that was the thing that was always tough about ranking him since he came back is he’s looked like a significantly better version of himself but it always felt like a like a sort of Damocles thing where where it was just hanging above his head and yeah now it now it dropped it dropped yeah I got I got good references guys my game tonight of all the injuries that happened this weekend the Kyle bradish one like that feels like the the potential season Ender to me I’m kind of operating under that assumption yeah I haven’t dropped him in the leagues where I have them I mean the leagues where I have them I can put them in an I spot but I was I was tempted to just to pick up IL stash instead yeah it probably is good news for Kade Povich who will stick around in the short term as long as he’s pitching well at the Yankees this week it’s tough matchup for him but he looked really good in his last start out uh speaking of the Yankees gar Cole made his third Rehab start Friday at Triple A he allowed one unearned run over four and a third Innings he struck out 10 and he could make his debut this Wednesday against the Orioles the Yankees announced that nestar Cortez will pitch Tuesday Luis heel will pitch on Thursday Wednesday is currently listed as TBD which makes sense to be G Cole and who else is coming back this week Frank who else I’ll tell you who Max Scherzer made another Rehab start on Saturday at Triple A he allowed three earned runs over four and two-thirds Innings he struck out eight and that is expected to be his final Rehab start are you guys good throwing both of these guys out there this is where I storm my way to the top of the tout Wars standings waited half a year for this just wait till kodai Sena joins them I’ll have the best pitching staff ever and I mean I’m for sure activating him them in that 15 Team league uh yeah you know what I’m probably gonna start garri Cole in every League where I have him did you guys see what the pitching matchup was at the Round Rock Express versus Tacoma reers game on Saturday couple of Sai Young winners Max Scherzer Dallas k oh God uh sorry I’m just looking up uh the the statcast data sherer’s fastball velocity was significantly down which it has been throughout his rehab assignment he’s coming back from back surgery he averaged 91 92.1 miles per hour with his four seam fast ball that’s 1.6 miles per hour down from last year you got 12 whiffs on 79 pitches that’s decent but against triaa players it’s pretty much what you’d expect so I can’t say my expectations I I wrote about all the iil stash pitchers last week I realized I forgot Shane BOS that that was on me um but he’s not on the is anymore say oh that’s why I didn’t okay that’s why I was looking at the iil and he okay he’s just optioned yeah he was okay uh sherzer was not in the I’m expecting an impact I’m expecting Garrick Cole to make an impact I’m hopeful but was the heading I had Max Scherzer under just because he’s 39 I think he turns 40 in a couple months the velocity’s down I’m not I’m hoping how many starts though like I assume he’s not totally built up yet yeah I mean he’s made I think four or five starts over the course but obviously that was with the shutdown from the thumb issue so okay so you’re in there he’s probably you know in mid-march form and so maybe he gets back and obviously Max sh is a uh aggressive and competitive fella and so I’m sure pitching in the majors will probably get him a little hyped up and you know it’s he made he made two since coming back from the thumb entry he’s made two starts in the minors again that was Max Scherer who will be back this week Trey Turner will also be back and uh expected to be reinstated from the iil Monday he’s been out since May 4th with a left hamstring strain get Trey Turner back in your lineups William conteras well was evaluated for a concussion after Sunday’s game he took a shot to the head on a collision at home plate that’s pretty worrisome the fact that it happens here on a Sunday yeah concussions not really anything to play around with so I I would say let me tell you make sure you have a backup and let me tell you who your backup plan should be just I’m just kind of fitting in player takes all over the place here so we can skip them later Tyler sodr absolutely should be and CBS leagues and anywhere else he’s catcher eligible which isn’t everywhere but he is eligible in CBS sports leagues he has started um he’s he’s become a fixture in the Athletics lineup by Merit so he went three for four with a home run in game two at Minnesota Sunday double header brief four with a home running game two been playing every day since June 6th and during that time Tyler soderstrom is hit 342 with four home runs struck out 19% of the time average exit velocity of around 93 miles per hour so we may be witnessing the Tyler soderstrom uh I’m I’m finally reached a level of comfort against major league pitching and I’m ready to just live up to my potential now that that may be what we’re seeing here for a catcher eligible player who’s playing every day yeah and I’ll also throw out Mitch garver’s been actually the batting average has continued to be pretty bad but he’s on like a 28 Homer 90 RBI Pace since the start of May and I did make sure that that was correct um so it’s been a disappointing and frustrating season for Mitch Garver but I still think there’s a useful player there Zack Allen threw a 37 pitch Bullpen on Friday and is slated to throw a Sim game on Tuesday he’s been out since May 31st with a right hamstring strain Bobby Miller will return Wednesday in Colorado we spoke about that do not start him this first time first start back uh B bashet has missed two straight with right calf soreness and I saw on Sunday they reported some improvement but Cavs can be tricky I think this is kind of similar to Corbin Carrol where you you just have a good excuse not to play bashet right now yeah yeah if you can if you can fit an extra Short Stop on your roster it’s a good idea to sit pette Mike Trout has yet to progress to performing on field activity he’s been out since late April with a torn miniscus in his left knee Clayton Kershaw will make a rehab start at single a on Wednesday definitely someone you should be stashing I think he’s still out there in like 40% of CBS leagues kodai senga threw a two-inning bullpen on Saturday he’s expected to return shortly after the All-Star break Brian Woo is expected to start Wednesday against the Guardians he missed his previous start due to right forarm discomfort but the MRI came back clean Brewers manager Pat Murphy said Saturday that Devon Williams is expected to be cleared to throw off a mountain sooon Williams remains on track to return just after the All-Star break and I did not see his roster rate what do we have on Devin Williams that is someone we could stash right now and he is 58% yeah all right that makes some sense higher than I thought it’d be do we expect him to just be the closer again I I would think so I I would hope so one of the best closers in the world true but Trevor Migel has been really good and i’ hate I hate to to lose him yeah yeah uh Jordan Romano threw from 90 feet Friday he’s on the I with right elbow inflammation Wilson Contreras is likely to begin a rehab assignment Tuesday with either double A or AAA he’s 78% rostered could be out there in some shallower one catcher league so I would say if you have the ability to stash a catcher now is the time on contras Josh Young started a rehab assignment at triaa Sunday he’s been out since April with a fractured wrist Nolan Jones made his return we already spoke about that the Rockies have seven games this week so if you have Nolan Jones I would say get him back in there Padre’s manager Mike schilz said Friday that Joe Musgrove is getting closer to picking up a ball and starting a throwing program Musgrove was diagnosed with a bone spur in his right elbow in early June U darish threw a bullpen on Friday he said he expects to be uh that to be sufficient ramp up and will eventually rejoin the rotation without a rehab assignment Justin Verlander was scratched from his start Saturday due to neck discomfort he played catch Sunday and his manager Joe asata left the door open for Verlander to return this week against the white socks that’s so tough man tough situation because it’s a great matchup berlander hasn’t pitched that great recently and now he has this injury on top of it but I I think it’s been like two bad starts in a row and he had been pretty good before that and he mentioned that this has been bothering him for a couple of starts so hopefully this is something that is is relatively minor and helps explain why he had you know gone from a stretch where he looked really good and was starting to get swings and misses and strikeouts again to think it’s nine runs over his last two starts so hopefully um this is just a shortterm thing Max munzy is at least a week away from swinging a bat and doesn’t have a timeline for return he’s been out since miday with a right oblique strain Merill Kelly is expected to be held out through the All-Star break he’s been out since late April with a shoulder strain Jesse Winker left Saturday with right knee injury and then was out of the lineup Sunday Winker said in MRI showed no structural damage Anthony Rizzo left Sunday Night Baseball after a collision at first base DJ lahu moved over to First and Oswaldo Cabrera at third and the Astros officially released hose [ __ ] on Friday expect John Singleton to get most of the starts at first base moving forward maybe Joey L profo can work his way back into that mix as well some other players who went to the iil this weekend Kyle Harrison with a right ankle sprain El Diaz with a left cast Trin I think his replacement Jacob Stallings could be an option in some deeper two catcher leagues Henry Davis was placed on the 7-Day concussion iil and a few high-profile Prospect injuries Jackson holiday went on the triple ail with right elbow inflammation and Jason Dominguez went on the iil with left oblique soreness let’s take our final break and when we return we will talk about waiver wire pitchers some Yamamoto Replacements right at after this will you need your sports news anywhere we’ve got breaking news to bring you then get your sports anytime you want them big trade news overnight to discuss because we know you need Sports all the time a lot of movement in the rankings this week a legend adds to their legacy we’re bringing you that breaking news right here on HQ CBS Sports HQ anywhere anytime all the time welcome back in let’s talk waver wire pitchers from the weekend and the first group could be out there in some shallower leagues Matt walr is name we’ve talked a lot about over the past month or so uh he was at the Mets he allowed two runs over seven Innings he is still 75% roster the problem at the Phillies this week don’t love that Hunter Brown we already spoke about Kyle Gibson continues to pitch well he was at the Cubs he threw seven shutout Innings two hits one walk six strikeouts and over his last 11 starts it’s a 264 ER 119 whip for Kyle Gibson and his teammate miles michaeles also pitching well right now six in a third one run five strikeouts to zero walks last seven starts a 276 ra and a 83 whip Scott how would you rank these for Michaelis Kyle Gibson Matt Waldren and Hunter Brown uh I I have walren ranked highest rest of season but given that we’re talking about a shallow League context for any of these guys are available I might lean Hunter brown with the superior matchup against the white sock this week and uh I really like Kyle Gibson’s match up against the Marlins we have a pretty good idea that who who Kyle Gibson is and it’s not somebody you need to be uh you need to hit your wagon to necessarily but he’s been reliable so far this year getting whiffs with that sweeper I think a good matchups play so he’s a clear third on this list I’ll say hunter Brown Matt Waldren basically one in onea then Kyle Gibson miles michelis a distant fourth I I think Michaels and Gibson are are kind of the same guy Gibson gets a few more strikeouts maybe but they’re both fine when things are going well and totally fine to get rid of when they’re not um so like if you had Kyle Gibson and for some reason Hunter Brown was available in your league I’d be fine dropping Kyle Gibson for Hunter Brown if you had Kyle Gibson and DJ Herz was in your league it probably just depends on if you need to start someone this week if you don’t I think I’d just take the flyer on hurts if you do Gibson’s got the much better matchup so I’d rather just take that chance all right wer wire I’d prefer Gibson to hurts either way but fair enough waiver wire pitchers part two Mitchell Parker turned in a quality start against the Marlins six Innings one run four strikeouts and he’s lowered his ra down to 306 on the season we already spoke about DJ hers and uh Tyler McGill solid start against the Padres five innings two runs five strikeouts had 12 whs on 92 pitches he is at the Cubs this week Mitchell Parker also at Colorado so not great uh Chris how would you rank that group of Parker Herz and Migel yeah ideally I would want Herz as a rental just to see oh gosh sorry um but I was wondering when you were gonna do it you don’t want to use him against the Rockies this week so I I think it’s fine to pass on him but it’s Herz Mcgill and Parker for me I think all right waiver wire pitchers part three these are I would say not the most enticing options but you know who they are Jameson tyion quality start against the Cardinals six Innings two runs three strikeouts has a quality start in three of his last four Colin Ray turned in a quality start against the Reds six Innings three runs two of those earned with six strikeouts he did throw more sweepers and Splitters in the start which is exactly what we want from Ray and Jose canana a strong start against the Padres six Innings one run six strikeouts he is also at the Cubs this week Scott do any of these names matter for Fantasy no I mean you may have to stream one on occasion but you don’t feel good about it Jameson tyone actually has a 308 ra on the year yeah I don’t know if you said that but it’s it’s like we’ve been we’ve been speaking poorly of him speaking ill of him but uh you know he’s pitched to a 308 ra so there’s that none of the ra estimators like it he has actually has a career low K per nine rate his XC is actually like 370 so it’s not abysmal but yeah that requires you know pretty outlier quality of contact stuff given his low strikeout rate so yeah I’m I guess he’s the best of the bad options here Jameson tyone two names in De leagues Keaton win who pitches for the Giants was up against the Angels this weekend six Innings three runs six strikeouts had 17 whiffs on 91 pitches 11 of those coming on his splitter and Ryan Nelson turned in a strong start against the White Soxs six Innings one run eight strikeouts were a season high for him had 13 whiffs on 95 pitches deep League stuff here Chris but either of these names matter Ryan Nelson Keaton win uh I I’ve been interested in both of them at various points in the past uh W has a really great splitter Nelson Has uh slider that occasionally looks really good but I think you’d have to be honestly really just NL only yeah it was a rough Sunday for the rookie pitchers who one week ago today we were hyping up we were excited for the promotions but Hen waldrip of the Braves got crushed by Tampa Bay three in a third six runs four walks at two strikeouts two homers allowed he was demoted after after the start and Drew Thorp got clobbered at the Dbacks three and a third eight runs allowed seven of those earned five walks to zero strikeouts he only threw 53% of his pitches for strikes just pretty weird for someone who had such great control in the minor leagues and as we spoke about earlier in the week if Drew Thorp is going to succeed throwing 9091 miles per hour he has to have pinpoint control there’s no doubt about it so just a really really bad start all around here uh but Scott if you picked up either of these rookies in redraft do you just drop after these outings you are muted sir [Applause] hey sorry I don’t remember ever hitting the mute button okay um yeah waldrip I think you can pretty easily uh because the Braves dropped him to the minor leagues Drew Thorp you know I’m not saying you have to hold on to him he does have a good matchup against the Tigers do you really trust him for that coming off an abysmal start I don’t no uh the change up wasn’t working in this one and that’s kind of his everything you didn’t throw it nearly as much as the first start the thing about the control you know it it seems like there have been a lot of instances of this like we the control is the pitcher selling point coming out of the miners and then he comes up he’s just walking everybody inside I mean to a certain degree Tanner B’s been that over the past couple years but to a great G extreme now you have drew Thorp doing it you have Adam majer doing it yeah he has 13 walks and three starts he had 14 and 18 starts last year yeah so if if I have to hold on to one of Thorp major waldrip it’s probably Thorp yeah but like I’m dropping him for Kyle Gibson I’m dropping him for Mitchell Parker even Mitchell Parker doesn’t have a good matchup coming up you drop drop all those for Herz uh yeah I mean I dropped Thorp for Herz at this point sure the one thing I will say about Thorp is his Zone rate was 47% which is fine you know most pitchers are within a few percentage points of 50% one way or the other he garnered two swings on pitches outside of the strike zone threw 32 pitches outside of the strike zone he got two swings on them both of them made contact that’s the problem you’re nobody’s going to throw 70% of their pitches in the strike zone you know KY Hendricks doesn’t do that but you got to be able to get chases and you got to be able to get whiffs on those chases or weak contact and Drew Thorp didn’t do either of those and this is my problem is it’s just it’s kind of a one-pitch profile and the margin for error there is going to be really really Slim let’s talk about some waiver wire Hitters from the weekend and JD Martinez is heating up he went three for three with a double dong on on Saturday and over his last four games he has eight hits three homers eight RBI he is up to a 293 batting average 881 Ops 67% rostered if for some reason Mookie Betts was in your utility spot probably not but I think JD Martinez could be a decent replacement um we’ve seen him obviously have great fantasy value in the past some other outfielders that are out there Jorge cair hitting much better in June he went two for four with his eighth home run on Sunday so far in June batting 313 with two homers and a 900 Ops that is Jorge Solair Tommy fam returned this weekend had a great game on Sunday he went three for four with a walk a double a run and RBI JJ blade had himself a big double header on Sunday he went six for n with his 10th home run Jared Kellick we spoke quite a bit about uh he home run on both Saturday and Sunday and Jack Peterson had another big game on Friday two for four with a sock in the shoe his ninth home run his fourth steel Chris five more outfielders here who are your let’s say two or three favorites so fam Le Kellick and Peterson I I would say it’s probably Solair Kellick blade I I don’t really buy it um but he’s been pretty good for long enough this season you know we’re talking about a month and a half almost two months where he’s been really solid so I’ll put him third but it’s a decent amount behind Jorge s and Gerald kick I just think there’s a bit more sustainable upside with both of those guys I noticed jock Peterson is only 21% rostered on Yahoo lots of daily lineup leagues on Yahoo and and jock Peterson just fits that format to a t not that you know he’s not amazing but a 904 Ops whenever he’s playing against right-handed pitching them that’s a pretty serviceable player so I would say if you do play in a daily lineup League uh Jack Peterson is probably one of the more valuable players in that format if I could if I could give an honorable mention here he’s he’s over 80% in CBS leagues now but Elliot Romos went seven for 14 with two home runs this weekend so he is not cooling off yeah I think he has something like 31 RBI in how many games here uh I didn’t write down how many but 30 RBI to with a 965 Ops for Elliot Ramos so far is just yeah he has been awesome if you’re looking for a corner infielder one of Scott sleeper hitters for this week Carlos Santana uh had a huge double header on Sunday he went three for six a sock and a shoe his 11th home run his second steal and so far in June betting 326 three homers 13 RBI uh an Ops just over a thousand for Carlos Santana has six games this week three against Oakland so really good matchups there for Santana some names in deeper leagues P Crow Armstrong has a steal in five of the past six games he’s only started four of uh those outings um got two lefties coming up this week but he is running if you’re looking for Speed in five outfielder leagues he is basically the fastest player in baseball I think him and Ellie De La Cruz are like one tenth of a second in Sprint speed behind Bobby Wht Jr for fastest player in baseball so the speed is real there couple names in deeper leagues Daniel schneeman is uh he plays for the Guardians if you are wondering and he had a huge game on Sunday three for four with his first career home run Addison Barger was recalled by the Blue Jays on Saturday he went one for three with an RBI and then on Sunday two for four with a run RBI and his first steal Tyler laer has looked pretty good for the Mariners since getting called up uh in eight games batting 222 but has two homers and one steel and Mickey moniac over has last seven is batting 381 one Homer six RBI one steel deep League stuff here Scott but does anyone stand out uh Crow Armstrong Daniel schneeman Barger laer and Mickey moniac so I had not heard of this schneeman guy until today that was Jack Black’s character in School of Rock [Laughter] right pretty impressive numbers for uh for Daniel schneeman and the miners 294 with 10 home runs uh this year 984 Ops uh but not just that like average exit velocity 90.6 Max exit velocity 11.6 so he was genuinely hitting the ball hard and uh the Guardians have done this with a few players um certainly David fry stands out just kind of nondescript minor Leaguers who put up solid numbers and then they come up to the majors and while all the stud hitters fall on their faces these guys continue to produce so we’ll see how much playing time Daniel schneeman gets but if it ends up being fairly regular it wouldn’t surprise me if he was somebody who became of interest in fantasy and you know also Tyler laer off to a pretty good start too if I still think he’s more of a deep League option but people need quarter infield help in those leagues sounds like Ty France might be back really soon which is surprising yeah he was like running the bases and did uh batting practice today so yeah it’s weird because I would I would speculate that they can keep loer around but Mitch Garver is basically team’s DH so so probably not um but they need offense any way they can get it the Seattle Mariners do yeah but lle only has like eight nine games above double A so I would assume their preference is to send him back down let’s wrap up with some starter sit decisions and some leftovers and some of these pitchers I think are kind of Fringe start options at this point it’s crazy to say but Jared Jones a rough outing it was in Kors field but he has struggled even outside of this start four and twoth thirds Innings six runs allowed uh had six strikeouts and over his last four starts it’s a 585 ER 160 whip over five walks per nine in his last four Chris Jared Jones is 60% started on CBS and he’s home against the r this week which is actually a good matchup so what do you think about Jared Jones yeah so the last time I looked into Jared Jones I did a deep dive about a week ago maybe more and the biggest issue was lefties were hitting him really hard especially his four seam fastball um that doesn’t seem like it would be much of a concern against the Rays they don’t have an especially worrisome left-handed core so I’m still going to start Jared Jones I know it’s been a really frustrating stretch but I still believe the talent level super super high and uh I I think he can get back on track this week McKenzie Gore was awesome against the Marlins seven Innings one run 10 strikeouts had 25 whiffs on 103 pitches and this was his third start with double digit strikeouts this season he’s only 55% started on CBS gets the Dbacks this week they are second in woba against Lefty so a tough matchup there Scott starter sit Mackenzie Gore this week I lean towards sit it was the Marlins that he did this against and it was like he was just blowing them away with his fast ball it had a unusual profile in terms of vertical movement and horizontal movement it was it was uncharacteristically dominant for Gore It’s usually his worst pitch but he was able to just throw it 53% of the time and got half the whiffs on it on that fast ball so I don’t know if that’s going to be normally a formula for success for McKenzie Gore and obviously this is a much tougher mat tougher matchup deeply where you don’t have many choices okay you’re probably starting Gore every week but uh shallower leagues where you do have choices I would lean against it Kevin gothman velocity was way down again he was facing the Guardians this weekend five in a third Innings three runs allowed had six strikeouts only 10 whiffs and uh he has just six quality starts in 14 outings this season Chris what do you think about gsman he is home against the Red Sox this week they are seventh in WBA versus righties I’m probably starting him but I’m kind of reaching the point with Gosman where I just wonder if like he’s just fine like he’s just decent and he’s gonna have these stretches like we we’ve seen several stretches from Kevin Gosman now where it’s like ah okay he figured it out he got 10 strikeouts and then the next start yeah and then the next start is whatever and I I think that might just be what he is right now and I’m not saying it’s what he is forever but I’m probably not going to fall for the next 10 strikeout start we’ll see I may but at this point I’m thinking no Freddy prala continues to struggle he was up against the Reds this weekend five and a third 10 hits allowed six earned two home runs allowed in this start and over his last 10 starts that’s now the majority of the season for Freddy brala it’s a 550 er a 139 Whip and he is 72% started at the Angels this week it’s Scott you start or sit Freddy Peralta Pro against the Angels you start him yeah I probably start him and I know it’s been frustrating this might just be part of the Freddy Peralta experience because if you look at like the underlying ratios they’re all pretty similar to last year but remember last year I think on this date he had a 473 ER that’s what I was gonna say yeah the C was even worse at this time last year than it is now yeah I think that’s just what he is like the I felt a little stupid about calling him a bust after the first you know four or five starts but this has consistency has always been inconsistent for him jack FL pitched well in his first start back after suffering that back injury he was at the Astros five shutout Innings three hits one walk six strikeouts and he is home against the white socks I think it’s a slam dunk right jack flarity yes Dar him his his fastball velocity was down a bit in this um I think it was his lowest of the season coming back from the back issue I I need I should have read more about it but I I gathered he was still kind of pitching through that um from some tweets I saw out there about the start and so might that might explain the reduced velocity but he he managed to gut it out in this start and then the white socks are obviously yeah that’s the thing how many matchups would you sit Jack flare against right now yeah I I at cores at new at New York Yankees I think he’s mostly a mustar pitcher the fact was down a little bit in the back yeah no I I get it but I think he’s earned the benefit of the doubt uh Charlie Morton pitched well against Tampa Bay six Innings one run eight strikeouts had 22 whiffs on 105 pitches and he has been pretty inconsistent from start to start the season he’s at the yanes this week 49% started I think Charlie Morton is firm in if you can’t start him in his next start you can drop him territory and his next start’s at New York so I I I I’m not saying you have to drop him but I think he’s totally dropped he was so good in this start yeah no and that’s the thing is that when when players get he’s 40 when players get to this point in their career they can still have those moments it’s just they can’t do it consistently like I I think about Dwayne Wade talked about he could still dunk at the end of his career it was the landing that was a problem that’s kind of where Charlie Morton is at his career where I think he needed Orthotics I think he was just old dunking is hard listen it’s pretty hard listen I’m I’m the only 40y old I’m only dad on this podcast I’m only 40y old on this you can’t even dunk I can’t dunk I thought I thought I was getting old and I was just getting these like old getting old kind of pains and then I got orthotics in my shoes changed everything changed everything guys I’m a big believer in Orthotics love it love to hear it all right couple other quick starter sits uh Jesus Lardo the velocity was way down it turns out I watched an interview afterwards uh he woke up with a sore back the team was aware and he just was pitching through lower velocity uh he’s home against the Mariners this week I mean even against that matchup it’s hard to go away from him but boy like he his fast ball has been bad all season and it was like averaging 95 and that was a down about a mile. three per hour from last year so I’m pretty low on hazus cardo moving forward I’m pretty worried about it I I think I’d sit him it strikes me as he’s like he’s he’s he’s he’s got like he’s hurt right he’s pitching hurt we don’t know he’s pitching hurt but like this is is what it would look like if he was pitching hurt yeah and so I’m worried he’s hurt now I said that about Max freed earlier in the year and he got a lot better all of a sudden but I’m worried too about Jesus Lardo Dillan C got crushed at the Mets three and two thirds seven runs uh two homers allowed in this start his last seven outings it’s a 627 ra and a 150 Whip and Dylan CE is home against the Brewers this week they are fourth in woba against right-handed pitching I’m starting yeah me too I think I missed this game yeah well I’m glad Dylan sees so he walks some guys in this start but his struggles recently haven’t been walk related which I take is a very good sign actually yeah I mean his walk rate for the season is 6.9% that’s like three percentage points better than his career best yeah he is giving up some harder contact and and more barrels than we’re used to seeing but for the most because he’s throwing more strikes yeah it could be uh Bailey obber looked much better against the Oakland A’s six and a third one run eight strikeouts had 17 whiffs on 96 pitches he leaned a little bit more on his fast ball and change up change up was really good in this start and he is at Oakland again this upcoming week how do you guys feel about bayy Ober so bayy obber the biggest thing for him this season is the fast Ball’s been getting crushed and he gave up six balls in play with an average EXs of velocity of 95.8 miles per hour with the fastball today or this weekend so that was today right so that wasn’t great but at Oakland at Arizona versus Detroit at Chicago White Socks at San Francisco is his next five starts leading up to the all-star break I kind of think I’m just starting him for all of them unless you know obviously if he goes out against Oakland the second time and struggles then the the conversation changes but that’s a really good schedule the rest of the way so I think I think the the the tenor of the conversation is going to be different about Bailey obber at the break I I’m I think my approach to him would be a little different I think I would consider him a sleeper for all those good starts but I wouldn’t consider him an automatic start so like if you have a if you have you’re not you’re not sitting a stud for him regardless of how good his matchups are um if you got a good two start option you’re starting him over over still but he’s in he’s in the mix there with a mostly favorable schedule coming up as somebody you can use if if you need to some other quick Leftovers on the pitching side ronell Blanco threw seven no hit Innings against the Tigers on Sunday you remember he threw a no hitter earlier in the season so to go seven no hit again eight strikeouts 15 whiffs on 94 pitches um and they were talking about not starting him this weekend they wanted to to push him back I think the Justin Verlander yeah injury is why ronell Blanco pitched today and he was awesome I still think he’s a sell high but really good performance yeah he’s down to a 243 ER and a0 97 whip for ryel Blanco Logan Gilbert was awesome against the Rangers he threw eight shutout Innings two hits zero walks nine strikeouts had 21 whiffs on 101 pitches and did change up the pitch mix in this one he leaned on the slider it was his most used pitch and it was really good he also threw a few more splitters and that pitch was really good so I think this is an encouraging development for Logan Gilbert and and if you’ll remember his previous start where he also pitched well it was the cutter that he threw about twice as often as usual and we’ve seen this from George Kirby in recent starts with a lot of success he’s he’s been throwing more sliders less fast balls so it’s weird like the Mariners went from being having a very fastball heavy approach with their entire pitching staff and suddenly it’s like they decided it wasn’t working anymore and their iting all at once here and and finding success with secondary offerings which is especially encouraging at Kirby’s case because we didn’t even know if he had that kind of secondary Arsenal to to turn to lastly on the pitching side Zack Wheeler got crushed by the Orioles on Sunday four and a third eight runs allowed a career-high four home runs allowed in one start even after this it’s a 284 ra and a 101 whip anything that actually stood out can concerning wise for Zack Wheeler or just a really bad start he only threw his splitter twice so he just didn’t have the feel for it he usually throws about 10% of the time but I don’t know it’s Zack Wheeler okay some hitting leftovers anywhere that you want to just jump in feel free uh Julio Rodriguez hitting much better in June so far batting 281 three homers two steals 815 Ops Jose Altuve had himself a game on Sunday two for three with a sock and a shoe his 11th home run and 10th steel Ellie De La Cruz had a big game on Sunday as well two for three with a sock and a shoe his 12th Homer his 36th steel and an awesome play at second base where they tried to pick Ed de Cruz off threw it into center field he scored from second on a pickoff attempt which did you see crazy the play he made with Snoop Dogg in the uh I did the announcers booth on Saturday I heard it that was look it up it’s it’s really fun it was funny it’s like doesn’t have an arm for that no way and he just like made the it’s like yeah I guess Snoop Dogg didn’t read The Scouting Report Ed De La Cruz has the strongest arm in baseball you know yeah sh Otani went off on Sunday as well two for three with a double dong he’s up to 19 home runs 15 steals Carlos kareah is on fire on Sunday he went five for 10 across to double header with two homers and four RBI his last 11 games he’s betting 51 with four homers 12 runs scored and 13 RBI Royce Lewis long so hang on so overall 308 with an 877 Ops for kareah and he’s got more head-to-head points per game now than uh than Anthony vulpi wow I mean he’s probably not far behind Francisco Lindor for points per game now I it’s not updated with the Sunday stats that’s why I’m kind of having to guess but yeah he’s he’s uh he’s looking must start yeah Royce Lewis launched two more homers on Sunday he went three for seven with two homers across that double header Lane Thomas has homered in three straight in 20 games since returning from the I he’s betting 299 with five homers and five steals Anthony santand there continues his hot stretch he went two for five with his 15th home run on Friday added two more homers on Saturday he’s now up to 17 on the season Jackson Merrill all he needed was a little inspiration this feels potentially meaningful yeah yeah he hit that double dong on Wednesday and then he followed that up with two more home runs this weekend and now Jackson Marl is up to seven homers and nine steals while batting 282 uh jamer candelario stayed hot two for five with his 12th home run and in June he’s betting 356 with six homers and a 1090 Ops Wyatt Langford in 16 games since returning from the I betting 271 with five steals still no power but he’s doing some things uh Riley green had himself a huge game on Saturday four for five with a double dong and Alex Verdugo big game Friday his first time back at thway three for five with his ninth home run and four RBI in that one some Bullpen updates on Friday uh for the Mets Edwin Diaz allowed a hit but he struck out two for his sixth save and that was his first save since coming back off the iil they just thrown him back in and so far so good uh for the Dodgers on Friday Evan Phillips was unavailable and so it was Al Alex vessia who picked up his third save and then on Sunday Phillips was back in Action he walked one but picked up his 10th save of the season for the Mariners on Friday Andres Munoz got the eighth inning with a one-run lead facing 91 and two in the Rangers lineup he gave up a walk but struck out three Ryan stanik uh gave up a hit in the ninth but picked up his sixth save and then on Saturday uh stanic got the final out for his seventh save and it feels like since Munoz kind of dealt with that back injury like right before that he was getting all the saves and now they’re kind of moving him around like Leverage situations again so just kind of frustrating uh for Andres Munoz and for the Blue Jays on Sunday YY Garcia got the ninth inning with a three-run lead he gave up two runs on four hits he was relieved by Nate Pearson who got the final out for his second save and it turns out that Garcia left with elbow soreness Jordan Romano already out with elbow inflammation are you speculating on anybody in the Blue Jays Bullpen right now I think you can put a low dollar bid on Chad green for this week if you want to you know potentially pick up a save or two I think that makes sense to stream or not to stream on Monday we have o ree Olsson at the Braves now I don’t I don’t know if it’s a good matchup anymore uh Jose Sorano against the Brewers tough matchup he’s coming off a great start uh John Gray against the Mets and Garrett against the Cardinals yeah I think Garrett against the Cardinals and John Gray against the Mets he might only go four Innings but I think they’ll be four good Innings and maybe he’ll stretch it to five and get a win on Tuesday we have Lance Lynn at the Marlins Albert Suarez at the Yankees Spencer schwellenbach up against the Tigers Lorenzen against the Mets he’s pitched well Tobias Myers at the Angels pretty good matchup Alec Marsh at o who stands up I mean Marsh coming off that start versus the Yankees I think has to be in the discussion um I don’t think like Lance Lyn against the Marlins could be good it’s you know great matchup good Park but I don’t really buy him being particularly good kind of the same with Lorenzen like the results have been good lately but I don’t buy it um but any of those three could be fine I will say for for the weekly Leaguers um Albert Suarez at the Yankees Tuesday okay obviously not a good matchup not great for a one day streaming situation but he does line up for two starts now and he didn’t when we did that segment on Friday I have him pretty high up the sleeper pitcher rankings in sort of a jake Irving way where it’s like two not great matchups but he’s earned the right to be an automatic start in a two start week has Albert Suarez and I think think with the injury to Kyle bradish you can be pretty confident he’s actually going to get two starts is he RP eligible I don’t think he made enough relief appearances this year to pick that up no yeah I don’t think so either quickly we’ll pull that up and nope Al Suarez starting pitcher only on CVS we are going to wrap there for Scott and Chris I am Frank thanks as always for tuning in to Fantasy Baseball today please make sure to follow and leave a festar rating on or Spotify and we will be back again tomorrow bye-bye

  1. Telling us someone is a "trade target" or "buy low" without discussing reasonable offers for those players is of limited (very limited) use.

  2. During the section covering Yamamoto’s injury, the affectionately dubbed “Comic Book Guy of Fantasy Baseball,” Chris Tower’s said out of the twenty players recorded since 2017, the pitchers with rotator cuff strains “5 came back in 20 days, 1 was back within 21 days, 8 were back within 30 days, and 10 were out at least 55 days.” That is twenty-four players, Chris. I’m not sure if somehow there is some sort of clerical error in Baseball Prospectus’ Recovery Dashboard, or if our lovable “Comic Book Guy of Fantasy Baseball.” (Surely there’s a better nickname to dub him… “Fantasy Baseball Guy?” Just doesn’t work. 🤷🏼. Oh well, guess we’ll stick with old faithful! Love ya Chris!)

  3. Hello guys im in a 12 man ROTO, how many RPs should i rock and SP 5 and 3? i'm running into max innings pitched And at what point would you drop betts i'm in a no IL league

  4. A lot of the commentary here isn’t all that helpful. Talking about injuries and potential replacements isn’t that helpful. When we log on, we can already see who injured, and read about their injury/ how long they will be out. By looking at the wire, they already rank potential positional targets. Where your show can be helpful to compare potential waiver targets and research players who you think may be breaking out

  5. Love the Show guys, I've been a subscriber for many years. And I've been following Frankie since back in the Fantasy BFF days w/ Greg. So a HUGE fan guys. Thank you for everything you do.
Question: Any chance we can get a show, with a special guest appearance from old CBS Fantasy friends, Heath and Adam??? That show would ROCK!!!!
