who is here and lots to get to with graham uh we have an event uh to discuss um and also a big weekend for Edmonton Sports here um I’m being not not a great week I about to say like big yes fingers fell last night uh to Niagara Elks fall to the Riders Oilers fall to the Panthers but I think the riverhawks took two of three in their opening Series so good job Edmonton riverhawks for holding holding things together for the city of Edmonton they’re uh they’re in action tonight uh game you won’t actually catch on Emon Sports talk.com uh as we will have a postgame show later tonight for the Oilers game too uh so we wouldn’t be able to finish the game so we’re not going to air the game so um but yeah it was uh it was fun to have a lot to watch but it ended up not being the results we all wanted I would say as a city I think that’s a safe statement Matthew not not the best uh on the show today we got $100,000 holding one qualifying opportunity presented by GF toown they’ll play take place July 30th Ranch Golf and Country Club and qualifying somebody for the Great Outdoors Comedy Festival VIP table on July 13th with Kevin Hart plus we’ll have tickets to give away a pair of tickets city it’s going to be it’s going to be a good time so Graham these are good things coming together here yes exactly local local stuff uh also we if there’s time I will talk about Canada’s nil nil draw against France which is pretty much a victory one off the woodwork it went off the woodwork um hey mbappe came on and CPO made a save uh it wasn’t a B team for France big result for Canada so we can maybe get into that a little bit later I definitely be up for that are you a soccer guy I’m a big soccer guy yeah who’s your team besides Canada uh Liverpool oh my God oh my ER Eric’s Eric you want to do the hangout today you know bat signal just went I mean I mean I’m also a Bills fan as well so we’re are are you just Eric just with a bit shorter hair and a bigger beard yeah well both he’s getting the Grays in his beard so you guys are are getting that together and stuff okay well well I guess live with yeah being a Liverpool fan that that must be fun better than Manchester City as I’ve learned well City’s just nothing they don’t have fans charges 115 charges I’m on to this no one cares je Jeff from Hudson’s Bourbon Street or bourbon as we like to call it uh was bringing up the Manchester City thing yeah 115 but now I don’t know what’s happening with United with their manager situation it’s they’re talking to people this weekend T hog still the manager I have no idea what’s going on there it’s I love this time of year of soccer when the transfers and the manager changes are all happening and there’s all these random rumors and they’re not afraid to throw out Rumors in soccer reporters and and like online the fans they have like lists of reporters so like they’ll go like this is a tier one guy this is legit or this is tier four this guy’s absolute crap do not listen to him he just throws out crap RP out there and it’s just so much fun to follow along it’s wild how many how much rumors are in in footy and in Europe and that and yeah it’s uh it’s a fun time of the year but now we’ve got two big tournaments coming up as well to look forward to so we’re we’re we’re talking to little soccer at the end of the show no there’s no question about it but let’s start with 3rd so the Oilers game one loss Tommy uh how was postgame show you were at Bourbon Street Hudson yeah um on Saturday night how were how were fans and how was everyone taking it and um how’d you feel postgame went um postgame was fun it it was good like we went pretty long and we had a lot to talk about obviously with the three nothing loss there was a lot of talk about the defense and why nurse and CCE together and uh we had to break down the goals and we had to explain and belly was great this is where Shawn Bell’s excellent is he’s like yes nurse did miss that pass from the back of the behind the goal line out front but there was also Kane coming back slowly McLoud on the Zone entry and then the bounce off the the end boards ultimately it doesn’t matter they get scored on and then the first goal uh belyy broke it down as well but yeah I it was bizarre to see that pairing back to together considering how well they were separated and how strong Evon played defensively for the most part in those last games of the Dallas series but um we’ll see when when dregs pointed out that he expects a change on the back end and and I know people were like you know you can’t take out broberg it’s got to be CeCe I think it might be Darnell nurse he played the least amount of minutes and the orders are on 15 minutes early we got a message from their Pier oh so no yeah so like I was just thinking I’m like what if it’s nurse because he played the least amount of minutes the other night and he didn’t have a particularly great night outside of coming back strong when he had that when he got you know called out or whatever people were mean to him or hard on him um he has not been like excellent by any means he’s just kind of settled back into okay territory so I wonder if this would be a what a time to send a message I don’t know if it’s going to happen but that was a thought that entered my mind I guess time will tell here in the next few minutes but he did play a surprisingly small amount of minutes than we’re used to seeing him playing plus you had kulak or you yeah kulak was on the other side um playing right side with broberg right they flipped broberg to the left side and kulak was on the right side again so what if they slide kulak back keep roer again who played a good chunk of minutes and then they take out nurse and then CC de har stay in I know a lot of Point pointing fingers was going to CCE this was just the thought I had on my way into it I’m not going to question Chris noblock um and whatever he’s going to do um I’m not going to question what type of Coach he is he’s not afraid to make bold decisions um I don’t know if he’s prepared to take a shot at the leadership Corp like that in the Stanley Cup Final going into game two do you want to win the Stanley Cup this is the Stanley Cup is is it nurse or is it CC that was worse I think I think together they’re just struggling to find any cohesion together it’s they always seem be on the ice together for for goals against and I I don’t know I think I think nurse is he’s got his qualities and either both on on the bench and uh on the ice but uh he struggled this playoffs that’s for sure yeah and like I’m just like de har it’s just easier to bring him in for a cc right side as opposed to the left side with that situation no you had you had you had kulak playing the right side for the last few games and does he not like that that was one of the things that I think was thrown out there by Rob Brown was that one of the reasons why some things is that kulak isn’t comfortable playing on his offside so then they SL slide them back nurse did play 1609 and like I said that was the least amount out of all defenseman the other night that’s why I thought maybe it’s Darnell getting the the yank out of the lineup again I I just that’s he’s part of that leadership Corp he’s part of that group and that’s [Music] where it’s you know saying nurse for har in the lineup and you’re keeping CCE out there like that is a that is a real bold shot and do yeah do you want to win the cup you got to make those decisions who has played like crap in these playoffs outside of one game where he got called out and had 12 hits and we applauded him for bouncing back to have a decent game I think he was still like minus two in that game wasn’t he yep right like right out of the gates too yeah right out of the gates but it’s not like CC has been great either Cass makes an interesting point I’m not defending CC here I’m just I’m just I’m just pointing out some things Cass made a point throughout the season and listen Cass and CC played together but on the postgame show Cass said there are times where Cody CCE is stuck dealing with Darnell nurse’s messes and he’s been on the B uh brunt end of things I I think you look at the the games that they split CC and nurse up as well and put day har with nurse and kolak with CCE and what pair looked better who kolak and and CeCe would argue we’ve got the news Ryan Rashad this just coming from him de in for CeCe taking reps with nurse all right so be nurse with d RNA CC looks like um he’s potentially on his way out of the lineup although Darren Dreer was floating out there would we potentially see a 11 and seven with the oers so we’ll have to wait and see a little further from practice but there it is from tsn’s Ryan rash day hard in for cc taking reps with nurse that from 45 seconds ago so uh won’t be nurse it will be CeCe um again that was just me spitballing as I was driving in because Darnell did play the least amount of minutes last game on all the defense that’s not the case I wanted to get juicy here yeah not happening well if you want to get juicy then maybe should there be a change in go tending though we saw that already we’ve seen it all did you get those on the post game no no nothing go tending no cuz I was uh to my mom’s yesterday um and I was riding up the elevator and there was like a couple people talking and there was a couple and another guy and I just didn’t want to get into it but he was going off on Skinner there might have the the wife was just like it’s not his fault like they can’t score goal and I’m just sitting there like I’m not getting into this right now I’m staying quiet but he was going off on Skinner I’m like no I don’t think we’re looking at that game going Skinner’s the guy to be focused on there might have been a couple that we didn’t read on like on the show because they were dumb and and belley I think did his eyes roll multiple times when he saw those texts and I’m like yeah it’s not that’s not it that ain’t it that ain’t the problem I I don’t I couldn’t blame Skinner on either goal really the the first one across the seam and you just got to get across and hope it hits him essentially the second one it’s just in the slot from behind the net bang bang bang it’s yeah and like look you’re not winning a hockey game let alone a stand like final you don’t score goals and bski played great he’s a great goalie but that’s to me one of the things that you have to kind of look on for this team going into tonight you got to score a goal you’re not winning a hockey game if you’re not going to score a goal so how you going to beat Sergey barovsky and that’s one of the bigger questions that we’re going to have to see moving forward and we’ll have to pay attention to that obviously tonight but yeah I don’t if you’re going to tell me my goalie’s given up two goals going into a Stanley Cup Final if if you said before the game Skinner’s only give up two goals tonight I would have went awesome doers have a good sh out of winning that hockey game and overall they they played a good game they just couldn’t find a way to do ultimately what they needed to was get the puck pass bosski but you look at all the advanced numbers or you look at the those meters that are out there and the Oilers were like a what 96% deserve to win meter or whatever it was and all of that like it’s they played really good and I’m assuming the Oilers feel really good about most of what they did and are confident going yeah like they could go win this game tonight they’re not going wow we need massive changes to fix this there are massive changes by the way oh okay okay well one is Kane looks like he’s not playing according to shagi you see it I’m just looking at everything right now you like me to read it out go for it all right it looks like a line of Henrik centering Holloway and dry cidal unless dry cidal is uh at Center and shogy just put Henrik down the middle by accident uh Kane not skating McLoud with fogal Perry nothing new Carrick with Yan Mark and brown so a little bit bit of a tweak there and then Carrick coming in no placeholder for Kane says shogi which indicates he could be out we’ll see what noblock says you make of that I think Kane’s a guy that you you want him to find his game you want him to be in that lineup against guys like kachuck and and the the big Florida team but you know if he’s he’s not ready to go he’s that and he’s and he’s slowing down like he’s he’s not able play the way he needs to play to be effective then he shouldn’t be in the lineup That might be the case well see what noblock says but yeah if you didn’t catch it there’s a line of Holloway Henrik and dry Sidle skating in Florida right now with Kane not on the ice and no placeholder quote unquote for Kane says Ryan Rog which would indicate he could be out and rash adds we’ll see what noblock says so noblock will speak in the next 30 minutes yeah they only for 15 20 minutes now and then they go speak to the players and then Coach correct so we might be on while we’re yeah it’ll definitely be happening while we’re on the uh air for hangout so um oil stream today at noon uh yourself Dusty will be will be going and um I’m I’m assuming lots to to now get to and we’ll have the audio for that um see the lines sta has them too McDavid N himman Dry settle Henry hway as we’ve said you’ve gone through everything else Ryan and G skating as extras and and then Kemp and CeCe we skating as a fourth pairing defense Skinner and picker the goalie so this is um well if if I’ve learned anything these playoffs it’s Chris noblock gets it right and this is going to this is going to work out perfectly bet on the Oilers get it on the Oilers what’s going to happen tonight is somehow de har is going to have some sort of goal or something or be a part of a big play um and there’s just going to be a bunch of good things happening because Chris noblock got to write the entire series or this entire playoffs you you can’t question what he’s done at in any point he’s yeah’s he’s nailed every move he’s made so we had people questioning him the other night on the postgame show Co he gets questioned by a lot of people but you’re right his moves have worked and in theory people should be like okay this guy gets it he knows which buttons to push so I’m with you but I just people go into full-on panic mode as you know in our fine City and uh they’re like this is stupid why did he do this why did he do that it’s like okay tap the brakes Bel Belle’s eyes were rolling so much the other night he was dizzy for half the show I mean I I think you look at the way though this team has responded to losses and adversity in this playoffs and they’ve never looked panicked they’ve always come out the next game and it’s been they’ve been calm and they’ they’ve taken the game to teams like that the game won against Florida they shouldn’t feel like they need to change a lot of the way they played they played well especially that the way they started it was they were they were attacking and and weren’t showing any any fear going into Florida so I think we come out and game two we we do the same thing and just hope to get couple by Roski early and settle in when you have McDavid in a dry settle and I’ll throw Heyman in there you’re going to find a way to score against barowski he’s not going to shut you out an entire series like you’re gonna you’re gonna have that offensive fire poow as you’re saying like if they play a similar game yeah they’re probably gonna score a couple of goals and so it’s can you just make sure you don’t give up that second or third goal in a game to win that hockey game so like I don’t think anyone should be panicking yet when it comes to the Emon Oilers and I don’t think what Chris noblock is doing is any sort of panic thing he just he just knows when to make changes and and to make those certain changes Rashad did tweet out the full lines afterwards and with Kane ads again Kane not skating but henrik’s to be playing with Henrik looks to be playing with 97 so if Kane is in likely on the bottom two lines so now adding a little prefaces of well if Kane might be in but bottom two so continue though we will wait to see what um Chris noblock has to say afterwards and um also be intrigued if he says anything the one time there was only one game this year he didn’t um when he did those big line the three line change with Cory Perry and McLoud coming back in um and broberg coming in he didn’t say that he just said there will be lineup changes but then Comon then the media you guys all figured out who it was was cuz he was skating on after literally walked over to the rank and we’re like oh who’s still out there oh those three aren’t playing okay but every other time Chris noblock has been very open about his moves he’s been very open about his changes so I’ll be intrigued which Chris noblock we get up there if uh if he’s going to explain what’s happening or what’s happening with Kane or if he’s going to be a little more koi and play that gamesmanship and not throw anything out there uh as the Oilers do get set to take on the Florida Panthers a game to 6:00 out in Sunrise which means the GCL oil stream pregame show live from Hudson’s White gets going at 4:30 right here at Emon Sports talk with Tommy Cass as well as ytt so um must win we going there yeah I don’t know I don’t know man this series could go so many different ways what do you think Graham I don’t think it’s must win because I feel we can easily take two at home no M coming back to down but it would do a lot for the just the the arena coming back to be split one1 and to give those guys a big push cuz if we come back split 1-1 I mean we’ve obviously played probably two good games and carrying a lot of momentum back into into Rogers so it’s not musin but Mt it would be nice to split I think if they like Grandma was talking about earlier in the show if they do play the same way and have the same jump on the Panthers and I know I was listening to the boys earlier but um you know Ray fararo was saying that was like the worst game the Panthers have played in the playoffs I think a lot of it had to do with how well Edmonton was playing so if Edmonton could continue that get one by bosski maybe Elevate the puck once or twice and then when you do elevate it not over the net over the glass like they did when they finally started lifting it but if you get to bosi you get them early and you give the same type of performance you saw in game one I think they’re in a good spot so must win win them all man yeah sure I’ll say must win go for it yeah I’m not I’m not full must-win I think they could come and take two at home I’m a casual must-win yeah no I I get that yeah I yeah sure going down to the Panthers not going to be easy but I will go back to the Stars fell down to on at home and went to Vegas and took two against a very good hockey team and the ORS are a good hockey team at home and I don’t think I would put it past them to go down 02 and find a way to win the two games you know I didn’t think they would win three straight against the Dallas Stars and that’s how they closed up the series was they won three straight against the very good Dallas Stars hockey team so I won’t go as far as being like yeah if they lose tonight must win but it really hurts their chances you know like it it makes things very difficult and as Eric and I know dust were talking about on the morning show bit there it’s look every game in the Stanley Cup Final is important there is no easy one in in this series so they’re all have a very significant level of importance to them um but if they were to fall I don’t think it’s end all Beall and let’s start mapping out the draft and fra and seeing what the oers need to do iane which I think you had Ken Holland will probably he’s going to be running but there’s other guys that that are there that are setting it all up um one thing we have learned about the Oilers in this postseason is it takes a game or two for them to adapt to the opposition now most of the time they either get a win in one of the first two games or or you know they’re coming home uh playing well and have that split so that that’s the difference if they were to quote unquote lose tonight or not quote unquote but just straight up lose tonight but I I like their chances of getting the split um the other thing we got a text that came in 780 28 9999 says interesting point you bring up about Nurse however the Oilers missed him big in the series versus Vegas when he was suspended I would say more than Vegas miss patrel that point is accurate they did miss him in that game in the series against V Vegas that was a year ago he’s not playing as good as he did last year in the playoffs simple as that uh that’s why I just I had the quick thought I’m like well he played the least amount of minutes on the back end he has not been good this postseason he had one decent game we gave him praise cuz we were hard on him collectively fans and media um in that Dallas series but U that isn’t the case he’s not being pulled out and then somebody theorized that maybe he’s hurt I’m sure he’s got some bumps and bruises but I don’t think he’s dealing with a torn hip flexor this year like he was a couple years ago and no what’s the other what did what did Vander cane have oh uh pubic yeah you always say this word oh my God you it a long time what the hell was it like Puck myalgia or something like that yeah yeah yeah uh athletic pubalgia there it is something like that that’s you always love saying that one and then finally I have a chance to put you doesn’t look like there’s a placeholder he wasn’t skating but he hasn’t really skated um all playoffs um but no playh holder according to Rog but maybe a chance he slots in in the bottom six we’re just waiting for Chris noblock to speak I’m assuming the players are now off the ice uh and then once we find info on that we will pass it along um yeah this is um these are the fun times this is what you want to get to you know you’re still one of only two teams left 30 other teams would love to be in the spot even down 01 in the Stanley Cup Final because it means you’re in the Stanley Cup Final yeah um the excit like it’s actually fun being in the city cuz um went to Central Casino for postgame good job by the way thank you it was great actually our YouTube channel having two things going you know we had the oiler pregame show and Elks postgame show all at the exact same time I went back and watched yesterday I was very happy fully covered but the place like right away full like sent and and we got back about 4:30ish I think from the game and G Oilers is until 6 and centri Casino Sports Barn Lounge is completely full people ready ahead of time to get ready for that Oiler game also a guy in a Panthers jersey got at the event which we at that centry which was great but I was intrig like are we going to see a lot of panthers jerseys and I’m I can’t wait to game three cuz I’m going to I think Eric said like he’s wondering if there’ll be Panther jerseys in the the seats I’m ready to go look and see how many actual Panthers fans well you don’t just don’t think there’s a lot of panthers fans Ariana Grande is a Panthers fan she uh she got hit by a puck when she was a kid at a Panthers game I’m going to admit I had a Panthers jersey when I was a kid Graham explain this it was when they came in the league in ’94 so I was like okay grade one one maybe and just absolutely love that jumping Panther logo and yeah just wanted a cool Jersey so I asked for it for Christmas got it nice and uh I yeah obviously I’m not a fan that couldn’t name a player on their team back then but uh Big Doug mlan fan Doug mlan was a huge ofg on the bench as a b Lindsay B Lindsay uh no I don’t he had a kachuck jersey too by the way the guy at Sentry it was even a kachuck jersey so it was yeah they boot him pretty good it yeah it’s um just not something I was expecting but like I’m just intrigued how many you know prices aren’t cheap no to get in you’re going to pay to get in for game three and you’re wearing a Panthers jersey like okay like die hard like I’ll full respect if you’re a Panthers fan in the city of Emington and you’re going to rep yourself in your team there might be a few that make their way up here but I doubt it it’s so hard to get from there to here and vice versa but there’s some die hards well I’m thinking just in Edmonton I I don’t think there’s of people traveling from Florida I don’t think people in Florida know where Edmonton is for the most part I also think that they look at them like I’m not going to Edmonton as much as I love this team going where I’ll just stay here they probably think it’s still cold up here type thing yeah I don’t need to go where it’s snowing on Saturday yeah it’s not particularly nice right now right but they probably think that it’s still minus like 20° that we live in the eagloo and it’s year round and stuff and they won’t want to come up here they’re going to be shocked on TV when they off sudden go oh look they don’t have snow what is this it’s very green so that’s um you know what else I had one more thought we need to get another headset so we have four yeah you going to have four on location no so because so you and J had headsets no yeah that’s we’ll have to um we should buy them another one I’ll be taking it now we’ll have the headsets now we’ll have to just rotate the quit the the equipment yeah yeah yeah yeah cuz I if you could bring this is this is great progam just doing off your stuff housekeeping you bring the equipment in tomorrow I have it here uh oh well you it tonight yeah that’s true you bring it tomorrow then you don’t need it till game five yep so I’m glad we cleared the air because but I was just like we need another headset for you guys cuz uh tonight game two you got gd’s old stream pregame show uh Thursday will game be game three you’ll be at your satellite studio downtown uh Elks owls on Friday then you got Oilers Panthers game for on Saturday um and then we’re going into next week so lots of pre and postgame coverage coming up this week here on the station uh also Calvin if you’re a Florida fan and willing to pay the Emmon ticket price is good for you yeah yeah I I’ll agree with that one up there um and I just double check and make sure we’re not missing anything when it comes to the Oilers because now this is this is just refresh City keep refreshing Twitter until someone sees something so we can update on that um before we get back to the Oilers because now we’ll just wait for Chris noblock um you watched the Elks game but you were a season ticket holder of the Elks you were on the sidelines I was in and out of the game but watching it all and cover covering it fully um what’s your guys’ takeaway from the Elks opening game loss to the saskat ref Riders I’ll say moving I’ve lived away for five years so I feel like the CFL has completely changed um I think that they showed a little bit of promise but you’re not going to win fans back with that fourth quarter performance and yeah you close out that game and maybe you get some some City Spirit behind you off the back of the Oilers run a little bit but to then see the way they lost that game is it was disheartening to see um and saying that though like seen all like the the old Legends of of the Elks Eskimos franchise was was really cool to see on the TV broadcast and that and uh yeah um I didn’t get anyf in the UK so I had all NFL which I’m a big fan of but man that CFL game is exciting I watched the the Toronto game yesterday as well and it’s just something it’s a different game and it it’s never over really no good point I I’ll also throw out this week completely wasn’t expecting all sudden the ALS and the Argos both to to win their football games yeah and the two teams I thought were going to be the best in this season both are one y and I didn’t know what to make of the Argos and the AL was like you’re just taking on the bombers and and both looking really really good in their wins smack them around the East might actually be pretty decent when it comes to their top two teams so just going to throw that out there um also credit to the Edmonton Elks organization and Evan Dom and Dave Jameson as well for what they did all of last week with the 75th anniversary from the annual dinner to just the big autograph session having all those Alum it was a great kickoff and a great celebration of the 75th season of the Elks it’s just too bad the team couldn’t finish it off in that game but everything else beyond that excellent job to the Eman Elks on that 75th so uh and those jerseys is actually I like him on the field hard to read the numb they’re hard to read the numbers though there’s times I I I didn’t get to watch obviously the full game for dusty but it’s like a times I’m just looking try like I don’t know who that is I when they when M scored the second touchdown I was like I think that’s gens no is that Mitchell like who scored like didn’t know had no clue yeah listening to Dusty they had to go like they had to get the zoom in shot um but they do look nice outside the numbers uh Morley I was talking to Morley really quickly he’s like God those numbers and then I’m in the booth saying hi to Dusty and he’s like I can’t even tell who that is or who that is I think that’s that I think that I’m like I’m looking like yeah you’re in trouble today and he handled it very very well him in suits um Miss field goal okay and that untimely fumble as the writers were getting momentum and then as soon as the writers had those OPP especially the fumble and where it was on the field and bada bing bada boom like I was the the alks D was holding up pretty damn good that game they were giving the offense a chance the offense took a little bit to get going McLoud bethl Thompson was all right and then yeah that fourth quarter was just one gut punch to the other and uh that was a knockout blow especially to go what do they have uh 21 unanswered the writers had yeah yeah it was at one point it was 21 to8 yeah and then it became 29 to 21 or whatever1 yeah so 21 on like that you can’t have that especially when you have so much time to to work and that’s frustrating mcla bethl Thompson owned it uh even though I don’t think it was his fault completely although that interception late wasn’t particularly great either um yeah that’s too bad but they they showed some signs like if you want to look at Silver Linings the defense had some great moments again and then the offense started to wake up a little bit but still some sloppiness there and ultimately it’s another El loss and Mother Nature also didn’t comply that was the weirdest thing yeah it was a it seemed like a bit of a sloppy game um oh it was which in those games I think you want to get that run game going a bit and and give your quarterback some easy second downs and there wasn’t a run game on our side yeah um they didn’t have one either they lost the front seven of of the Elks defense was excellent they shut down AJ wette and for three quarters didn’t allow that offense to really do anything for the Riders um but but then flip side the Elks o line I guess couldn’t really open up those holes and the Saskatchewan defense did a great job of stopping Kevin Brown the difference is as we you know Jay pointed out in the postgame show was the Riders kept rushing the ball I think ajet ended with 18 carries yeah Kevin Brown had seven and Javon leak only had three so they they only rushed 10 times with their running backs take away the prup you know sneaks those don’t count they stopped running you know in the second half they didn’t try to reestablish or get that going at all they just went away from it um the offense just is at times a little too bland a little too boring a little too conservative it’s almost like Steve Madu was back you know that’s what it felt like to a good degree and a bit too many three and outs um but like I will take it there’s a lot that happens in week one you never know if it’s rust you never know if it’s you know there’s a lot of different things in week one I’m also not going to overreact to this loss to the Riders fully I’m though very focused on Friday’s game against the AL because now the AL to me are a good football team they showed what they could do against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and I’m not going to say any to see the Elks win this next game they need to be close and if they’re not close oh boy I’m I will be teeing off on that postgame show and I won’t like it I’m I will have the Chris Jones countdown clock to when he should lose his job starting I will be be beginning that I won’t say that he should be fired after that game but it’s going to be okay when I look at the rest of the schedule now Toronto looks good and then you got BC and like before the bye it like are we going to to see this team be competitive that’s now the big question I have going into the final three games before that five by week is can they be competitive against the top teams in the CFL because if not what are we doing here this was supposed to be win now season so um and then part of that too is last year they blew it against the riders in the first game couldn’t punch it in from the one-on three tries they self-destruct in the fourth quarter this year against the Riders can they mentally recover from that going into next week they didn’t last year are they going to be able to mentally recover this year I I think they need to not only just for the season but also it’s your second home game and then you don’t have a home game for another month the 14th the the yeah July 14th you need to put on a good performance in front of your home crowd especially trying to build that crowd back to where it really should be in this city M and if you give them two two losses two duuds to start the season they might not even remember you have a game in a month back here no sad but true and it’s not exactly ex sexy opponent when it’s Ottawa coming to town right like you the Riders you have the riders coming to town this past week and that helps if it’s the stamps coming to town There’s a sexiness the bombers come to town There’s a sexiness but you got Ottawa you know and that’s going to be like the ticket sales will be very tough and as this team is trying to sell as well they still have to make sure people come to the game yes and so peners pancakes did ask are you concerned Matt with the double e attendance this year sorry but 20,000 announced with half being Rider fans for home openers unacceptable if they start on four what will the crowd be at the Ottawa game um look there are a few things going against the Elks though in that one moved up time bad weather uh and it was an Oiler game day yeah game wanted the Stanley Cup Final that’s a tough sell and me and grah were talking before the The Hangout like how many people went to just go get their spot at the bar early didn’t want to miss out on having that spot that they needed you know as I said when I got this entry it was full packed completely so like was people they they had to make a sacrifice for that game it was going to be the mton Els largely so I I’m not going to be too worried about that just yet um Friday I guess we’ll see but yeah it’s they went up against game one of the Stanley Cup Final I’m not going to expect that the Elks were going to have a 30,000 SE it would have been nice though I’ll tell you that much the weather sucked so bad like it was It was supposed to be so promising it was like 21 and sunny and then 3 days out Boom the change is eight and rainy and we got the rain I was telling Graham off the air as we’re getting ready for the show I was walking around with my umbrella cuz I was like man like 5 minutes in it starts pouring then there’s you know it clears up for 20 minutes then a hail storm then it clears up for 5 minutes and more rain and it was just weird so you know you see people running they’re wearing their ponchos the east side like Pen’s pancakes was saying like the rider fans were loud whenever i’ scooch over to the to the rider’s bench um you could hear them and and they were they pretty pretty into it when me and Jay were walking to the to my car to drive back to Sentry we heard a Roar from the crowd and like oh what happened and I had the I had the game on my phone and it’s delayed and stuff and then we saw the rider score a touchdown like oh okay yeah the rider still scored so they they they brought some noise yeah they did um so that’s what you get when you get the saskatch and Ru Riders was interesting I did see on TV a couple Saskatchewan Ru Rider fans but then they were wearing the oiler like necklaces and that so like okay like I’m an enemy but I’m also kind of you know we’re on the same side here today the Oilers run Saskatchewan yeah oh yeah they they’re Oiler fans Not Flames fans no that’s that Province the Oilers have been able to take that Province not the Calgary flame so there is that common ground that will always be there um but yeah no Elks a disappointing game and it it’s just the self-destructive ways and the secondary needs to get better um you can’t get blown like they were by Shawn Bane Jr as many times for Shawn Bane Jr nice little birthday present for himself by the way Lieutenant Eric had him on his bench in the Duna oo he’s a good guy really nice chatted with him a couple times actually and uh yeah he was great and had a huge game uh coach mace is a good dude too you could tell like this guy gets it and I don’t think it’s BS like he’s got Charisma I don’t think it’s like BS Charisma where you’re like H I think you’re a phony but he’s not like that at all he’s he’s got to fix the discipline of that team though well he he gave it to his bench there yeah and yeah cuz they lose what’s his name the O lineman pretty early in the game I talked to Gord hin who’s doing uh Sidelines for ched now and he’s like that’s huge man that is a huge loss and I mean the Elks kind of took advantage but not really I mean how many times did they get how many times did they really get to Harris uh I forgot what credited I think there was two sacks that I saw I I I will say like in the end they were up 21 they played a good three quarters the thing was they could have probably extended that lead if they just played a little bit sharper offensively and that’s where I’ll go is it rust or is it like is jarus Jackson just going to go with a slow rle of opening up the offense and open up the Play book or is this with the Elk’s offense is going to be so I think like Tom was saying though he’s like is it tough going from maybe one Series where it seems like it’s dry to the next series where it’s raining and then you got wind and it would have been a tough game to I think play offensively it would have been easier to play defensively yeah and Boris speed’s got to make that kick as much as Javon Le also can’t may have that fumble which he had some if fumble issues in preseason um look they brought in Boris Bey because they needed someone that they could trust a little bit more to make kicks yeah you could have just stuck with Dean faithful if you wanted it with if those are the kicks you’re going to make and those fa can miss that one for sure right that’s the thing like it’s you could have then you didn’t have to bring it like you’ve been paid Boris B to come here it’s late in a game four minutes or whatever left to take the lead you didn’t even just miss it it was just it wasn’t even CL so like you could you need to at least get a single then at that point right like it’s go tie the football game if you’re going to miss get that single but he missed so much that the angle was there for the Riders to take it out so um yeah the couple of new removed since what was it 2012 might have his last year something like that that’s still his Stadium that’s still his place he dictates how things go well I mean dmer and hernand are doing a great job like a 9B in case one hole on the back 10 or something yeah I’ve golfed there once I think I did it for Father’s Day it was H I didn’t mind it out there but yeah like I think it’s 28 I guess yeah technically because there’s three nines but then one of the nines has 10 holes interesting yeah um I was watching a thing and they said the new Callaway Chrome is like equal or better to the prov1 and I was like is this a real thing or is this like Callaway pumping its own tires but the review I’m just quickly looking at reviews I couldn’t believe it I was like what has prob1 been knocked off its pedestal uh the number one ball for H in ones is provy ones is it the statistically the majority of hole in ones are done with provie ones now with that said it’s also they’re they for the long they’re the golf ball most people use so statistically they have a better chance of getting a hole in 72 or 73 bucks for a k here’s what else six bucks a ball I can’t do that I I stand by this I mentioned it to zum um what is it 80 Seconds and it’d be 130 second or whatever it is All Sport replay north side yeah they go they have uh they’re used balls but all in really good condition you can go in and buy them and depending on the level depends on the price but if you want Prov ons or TP FS it’s usually what is it I think a dozen balls for like 24 bucks is that it or is it a little do you get more than that are they in pretty good shape they’re they’re in solid shape M and then but if you go up for like the the ones below let’s say I don’t know what’s below the the TPS for tailor mates but whatever is below it you get like 4 like the burner or whatever yeah you get like 48 for 24 bucks oh jeez and then if you go want to play The Pinnacles or something like you get like 90 some of them for 24 bucks or something like that like they have different levels and but the only thing is every time you go in you never know what the Stock’s going to be cuz apparently some guy from like Red Deer who goes and he collects balls and makes sure they’re good and organizes them and puts them in little jars and then just sell them and it’s it’s the place I go to for my golf balls cuz they’re rather cheap this is funny Han shof via the invox says please stop telling people about all the sports golf ball deals there’s going to be none for me when I need them okay so at least someone that for five bucks a clearance on golf down it looks like it it’s it’s a great Club it’s a Callaway I know I’m just kid it’s done some great it’s it’s treated me extremely well so I’m a big fan of that club most of the time I hit that one while we need to send Zach to come over there cuz yeah yeah absolutely although he went to the driving R supposed to he supposed to have gone with Dustin with you hit the bridestones no I like the brid stones the e6s were my favorite of them I think I had yeah I lost a bunch of them last year did not have a good year last year I haven’t even golfed yet this year it’s very disappointing wind just hasn’t or the weather hasn’t been as great and then Oilers are playing all the time and all of that the courses are finally starting to look better now though I went out early and they were all so bad like they did not winter well damn um I know one that did Ranch golfing country CL they did that’s by all account they always figure it out there that’s like can grab your tickets at kids sport bids kids kids sports bids for kids uh and you’ll go into a door prize draw as well which includes a mountain getaway uh to Jasper which will include a dinner involved with that um this is going to be a fun little event that’s uh being planned next Wednesday yeah so um for those that miss it uh my name is grahe I’m with kidsport Edmonton and uh it’s a we’re a National Organization but our organization uh our chapter is Edmonton so we support local Edmonton kids uh and you know last year we are we’re a nonprofit charity and uh we helped subsidize sport registration fees for for kids that are coming from families facing financial hardship in in whatever way whether that’s new Canadians whether that’s single single uh parent uh families whether that’s just families just having a difficult time um and we we know the world right now it’s tough so uh last year we were at we supported 3700 local kids get into Sport with over million in sport registration fees paid subsidized from us so um yeah this a big event for us uh so big thanks to the EST for coming on board and uh being a part of it uh next Wednesday Bell and scona uh 5383 you’ll get fed there um Bell and scon is doing some really good thing things with their beers where they’re going to kick back some sales to to Kid Sport and uh some good silent auction item uh items are for fans yes yeah okay here’s the one thing I was thinking the last night I I kind of wish ppy was going away in sense too you don’t want to know the numbers I feel like maybe we could get back to a position where maybe we’re not focused then too much on contracts and we could just focus on players play and not talking about you’ll know the top contract still so 9.25 for nurse but we won’t be rolling that back cats out of the bag I I know but it’s one of those I I I enjoy conversation when it’s just strictly about the hockey agreed when we could sit there and talk about Dar elers and 9.25 doesn’t come up we could sit there and say he’s playing bad right now and we could talk about his poor play and why is he playing poor and you don’t ever have to have the throne and he’s being paid 9.25 I wouldn’t mind going away from that it’s Noble and I don’t do I’m with you like that would be it’d be better to talk about their play performance are they injured and then not always go back well they’re paying this guy that much you need him to be better um but I think we’re past that like I think and I think it’s like whack-a-mole so cap friendly goes down it’s a great tool pipedia becomes the new king another one rises in in in the meantime and then I think we’re going to continue to see this cycle but that was an interesting move by the caps like are they are they doing it to shut it down cuz they’re pissed off or are they doing it to take the information take the information okay because apparently there’s a lot of things like that have all teams use and now they just want to control it smart and now all those other teams have to go figure out how to do it themselves and they will but it’ll take time whereas the Caps now just have it all yeah and you know people could rip on the capitals all they want for doing this I respect them for this actually in a sense that if there’s a piece of information you can have that now you get and 31 other teams are going to 95% of the cap so I have an idea of what it is and I’d take that for hockey too but then just knowing that okay you could go spend more on you know the Elks yeah go fix your secondary you got a couple you still a few bucks um I just I miss the days where we didn’t bring the salaries into discussions that’s what I love of Olympic conversations yeah is that we’re just building a roster and we don’t care about money and we’re just back to talk about hockey for hockey yeah yeah do you think it’s cuz in the last few years your upper echelon players make so much more than even your second line guys where that Gap that pay Gap is now gotten quite a bit higher or quite a bit wider so if your top salary players aren’t performing you don’t have that secondary that secondary salary is quite a bit lower the middle guys got pinched out especially during years like the middle guys ended up on PTO and stuff and taking lesser contracts it was kind of harsh uh via Co and then now what are we at they announced 88 million next year for the cap 300 more 300K more I think than initially so dead on 88 so the first large jump since Co since because it was supposed to go up 7 mil that year and then everything’s basically pretty much been flat for a number of years now it’s going to go up and it’s going to start catching up I think every I don’t know if we’ll see this large of jump every year but like I W be surprise going into the next summer we are seeing a $34 million jump and that’s what we consistently were seeing anywhere between 3 and 8 million going up I would expect we’re getting back to that yeah I think it’s next year they’re projecting 92 mil for the cap is that what they’re projecting already the year after yeah I think I saw that somewhere uh also that’s going to be a good think it’s I think these two games were we going to always be tough cuz Jesse March has just come in he’s just taking over the squad so and to go up against two traditional European powerhouses that’s that’s a tough first two games to come into and get your your message across your philosophy to the to the team and uh so I mean obviously the second half against the Netherlands broke down but obviously they did 90 minutes where they didn’t give up a goal against France who arguably one of the top contenders for the Euro this year so I think it bodess well going into into Copa and it’s doesn’t get any easier well like if you could pull that performance get a nil-nil draw against Argentina that’s a huge win to start the cop America yeah and hell even if you lose one nil like if they could play like that and just keep it nice and close awesome but if they play that way they’re beating Peru or Chile they they’ve definitely got a chance without question which then means you’re moving on out of the group stage at Copa America and then you’re taking either on Mexico Venezuela was it Ecuador I think those are the top three and at that point you would especially if it’s Mexico chances at that point and you’re in the semi-final like it’s it’s really jumping far ahead but when you look at that one performance it’s nice also how the it was bad performance then good performance it’s not like they played France close had the draw and then got slacked by Netherlands 4-0 and that’s how you’re going into Copa yeah you started with the loss then you went to the draw you’re compare the the players that played in that match against Canada yesterday against the first match France has in the Euros you’ll see a lot of players that are starting just because mbappe didn’t start doesn’t mean France didn’t play their players and mbappe was dealing with a little bit of a Nick going into that and then he ultimately played and he looked good and they stopped him so um that’s completely wrong to say that France didn’t play their top players it obviously wasn’t their full a team um but there was a players absolutely in that lineup for France who are going to be favorites to win the Euros followed by I would say England I don’t know who else I’d put into that category after after those two it ah no I’m just I have no idea I’m in Italian I have I’m not confident about the Italians right now well shoot I don’t think we have scoring um that it’s I I mean I think England France are there I think Germany I I put Germany there because they’re home home and I love their manager nagles man is a great manager and I think he can get the best out of those players but also they just don’t have that top end scoring like they used to have no I’m I I I mean if can sort themselves out maybe see that’s the thing though we could sit there a lot of the countries if they could sort certain things out them yeah yeah it’s like and I I feel like that’s why England’s also had some success in these last few tournaments is you you’ve seen like the Spain Dynasty it fell off France fell off a little bit uh Italy obviously is not been around in a World Cup for a couple you know so yeah oh yeah England is the favorite yeah according to coolat followed by France then Germany then Spain and Portugal then Netherlands and Italy then Belgium Croatia Denmark so that sounds about right but that’s like I find this tournament to be so open that like yeah I wouldn’t be shocked if all I don’t know if the brackets but England and France being in the final um but I also could see like the Netherlands going on that run and taking on Denmark or Portugal or something in the final it it does feel like a very wide open euros which gets going on Friday geez it’s St up then do the show and I could still be part of the tailgator slightly slightly um the vibe outside the stadium was really good on my way in it was a really good vibe and then you weather they you know people were Brave in the weather and it’s I feel like if we get some nice weather hopefully Friday um this is going to be a good vibe good buildup and then the team on the field has to deliver look good for three quar actually first quarter was kind of you second and third Edmonton looked good and then that fourth quarter was a no bueno as we like to say yeah no it was uh it was a tough watch uh with the fumble the interception the Mis kick all in that fourth quarter and you’re just like oh my goodness like here we go again but hopefully they can start sorting it out um like you said they want to win now if they’re bringing in 35-year-old mlau Beth that’s what I’ve been told all offseason when I’ve been upset about the move of bringing in MBT instead of going with Trey Ford and it’s not that I have an issue with MBT but I would rather develop Trey Ford I was told it’s win this season you got to win this season yeah well especially being a Canadian like it’d be nice to have a Canadian like lead this team but then like if if they go one and three or 0 and four going on that bye Trey forward could have done that type thing like that’s where I’m very intrigued Friday is a big one for me I was relatively calm on Saturday um I thought they played well through three quarters but I’m I’m I also didn’t see anything in that game that right now puts me feeling that they will beat mol this week and that’s my concern we were doing the sit Downs with the players both sides Sask and Edmonton obviously on Friday and we talked to McLoud bethl Thompson he’s like Trey Ford is the future quarterback of this team I’m here to help him get better too he’s been that was interesting like he’s and I’m not I’m not reading a lot of BS on it too so I know you talk about the concern of him taking off and that’s I think is still very real there’s that one and also there’s concern I don’t I think like last year there will be a moment where this team will Pro might have to make the move to Trey Ford and Chris Jones won’t take it he they went they waited till week nine last year to make that change Chris Jones for some reason to me does not look like a guy that likes Trey Ford and I’ll even just go Jay’s Mill’s talked about other people have talked about it hey they were all saying with trade for you buildt some packages for him to get him in the games I don’t think we’ll see that because Chris Jones I don’t think trusts or likes Trey Ford as a quarterback anymore and that’s the concern I have which then will lead to if Chris Jones doesn’t leave Trey Ford might walk but also the fact that he’s a FR agent we I just seen it too many times with Canadians all positions that once they’re drafted by a team and then they hit for agency they go home go home and he has a couple spots in Ontario he could go to that might be needing quarterbacks we’ll see how Dre Brown is in Ottawa this year but then there’s Hamilton and E’s just going to Hamilton next year as a free agent he’s home and that all happens because the Elks didn’t believe in him now and by Elks I mean Chris Jones yeah um I’ve had another head coach in the CFL tell me he didn’t his faith in In Trey Ford this was going into last year wasn’t particularly high and he could understand why there’s a knock against him and I was like whoa yikes yeah but when this team wins it’s with Trey for I know he went and proved people wrong four and six last year which for the which is a good record for us at the moment and his QB rating was above 100 when I looked at it so I mean I know it’s he he might not be the conventional pocket passer but he can give a dynamic look to that offense well you also can’t become a pocket passer if you’re not going to get the Reps to learn that to me the thing is spend the off season working with him and then spend training camp and this season working with him on being a pocket quarterback now maybe they’re going to do that with or MBT is going to do that and that’s great maybe that’s the full development um but I also just like if things don’t go well I’m not expecting that we’re going to see Trey Ford right now and I hope I’m wrong I hope I’m completely misreading the situation um but we’ll see and Friday Friday could be if things don’t go well me very upset at Sentry Casino Sports Barn Lounge people will be looking at me very awkward weirdly because series that we’ll see and they still got the victory so there is better for that Panthers team um but but also I just the Oilers aren’t going to just get shut out no they’re just not you know and McDavid and D are going to get their goals and so yeah like they did that in game one and to what you said earlier it’s the Panthers necessarily maybe they didn’t play bad maybe it’s just the Oilers played them very well I think and so you can replicate that almost in game two all you then need is finish and if you find the Finish you’re going to win that hockey game it’s going to be one-1 series coming to Emon and the Oilers absolutely are laughing because that’s that to me is mostly like yes winning both would be awesome it’s a long series you’re not going to win every game when you’re that roow team the pressures you just need to get the 1-1 and take homeo advantage did that game not remind you somewhat of the first game coming out of the All-Star break SL bye against Vegas when Edmonton lost was it 2-1 Final in that one close one yeah and they were the better team and they just couldn’t get that second goal and um it felt like a lot of those elements existed in that game one that we saw so I don’t I have faith in what the Oilers are capable of doing and let’s see what happens yes it’s going to be super hard yes the Florida Panthers are a different team than what we saw from Dallas Vancouver and obviously LA but Dallas is a good hockey team they always beat them yes and it’s not like there’s this massive gap between those teams beat yeah let’s see what adjustments they make power play like we talked with graham about making those slight adjustments getting the puck uh on to the net quicker maybe making uh that quick play to someone that’s open create those odd man opportunities down low maybe you get a goal or two and changes the way the game goes yeah maybe Florida wants to have a better game too but we’ll see and once again just looking at um the changes going up 20 could be the Panthers the Oilers will not be up 20 I’m just making my predictions here I’m throwing out a bunch of predictions I feel like there is hot to take is what you had today Dusty um he thinks MBT is going to lead the league in passing this year in the Canadian Football League had over 300 the other day yeah until Chris Jones gets fired and Trey fors the starting quarterback oh
