I know I didn’t it same one welcome back to another what’s in the bag episode I’m Jeremiah I’ve got Richard here with us Richard Phillips he’s one of our Fitters uh Richard’s been here we were just talking about this yeah 2016 eight years now eight years now eight years now so uh yeah quite quite a while got a good bit of years uh years going there so uh rich is one of our Fitters uh so if you schedule a fitting here with us in the launch kitchen uh you might get Richard so we’re going to take a look see what’s in his bag what he’s playing why he’s playing it um and again we do this just to give you an idea like our staff a lot of times we we got a lot of options we we got a way to to really get in and see what’s new what’s really working what’s working specifically for our gam so we can do a lot of experimentation and so what we choose to put in our bags uh is you know just a lot of flexibility uh so it’s just interesting to see what why we’re doing it and try to share with you and hope you think through your b as well so weard let’s let’s just going to start at the top work our way down unless you have a preference we can we’ll we’ll start at the top then I see the Cobra dark speed driver in the bag here yep um so dark speed I went with the ls version this year so it’s the lower spinning head I’ve been playing the standard head for the past two models so you like your traditional forgiving head uh this one this year they really crushed like forgiveness on it um um so off center hits go much straighter uh ball speed is through the roof and the spin is really really low so I’ve been really happy with it I took it out yesterday and uh seeing incredible distance off and I really enjoy the ball flight that I’m getting too as well so and it moves a little bit better I’m kind of getting my cut shot back a little bit more too which I really I’m really happy that it’s doing so so the the ls model really through most manufacturers lines LS is low spin mhm yeah two modern LS is really really low spin right yeah because everything is low spin as it is because especially with trackman and everything they’ve gotten these companies to Just Launch high low spin pretty much for everything so regard even you’re you’re your game improvement driver M like I play the Callaway AI smoke Mac yeah still a low spin driver it’s forgiving driver but it’s going to spin low so yeah just something to keep in mind everything’s kind of low spin now the low spin LS models low low low spin which means usually kind of a little bit more workability um of the golf ball that’s that’s kind of why like you’ll see like there’s kind of a 50/50 with tour guys now with lower spin to more forgiving head it just depends on ball flight so a lot of times the your standard head will go straighter the ls head’s going to turn more basically so it’s kind of more nowadays just you know who are you as a golfer like what do you want to do what do you want to see do you move the golf ball or do you just want to hit it straight far typically typically most people for a higher swing speed right it’s going to be because the lower spin higher Club speed yeah it’s it’s going to benefit those guys a little bit more because usually it’ll kind of knock it down a little bit and usually when you get to that point too those guys are they might you know move the ball around a little bit or draw a little fade or something like that so benefits that movement intentionally right intentionally I mean it doesn’t happen perfect every time but you know intentionally move the golf ball so all right so and you all are going to see like dark speed is going to be popular that but super popular yeah you’ll probably see some Trends through the Series this year so you go from driver to a fairway yeah so I did something just one Fairway yes yep so I actually did it a little different this year um Cobra added a it’s 3hf it’s a Forwood kind of wish everybody would just call it a Forwood that kind of doesn’t really make a ton of sense um so with the 3hf so it’s a 16 and a half degree head so it’s got a little bit more Loft on it um I’m kind of getting it to where I wanted a little bit more launch a little more spin out of my Fairway Wood cuz I was kind of getting it to where like I had a three-wood Pryer uh for the past few years but it would knuckle ball a little bit on me just a hair so want a little more Loft a little bit more spin on it I’m still getting the same carry yardage uh with it which I’m super super happy about but it comes in from steeper with more spin so it’ll hold the green much better so that’s what I look for my Fairway with a little bit more I will hit it off the tea on occasion if I need to little straighter ball FL or hit it to a spot type of thing but more often than not I’m usually taking if this is coming out it’s chucking out a par five or it’s a longer shot yeah or less about accuracy a little bit less about accuracy more distance yeah more distance I mean I did the X head not the ls actually kind of for that to there you go you know be straighter you know essentially as it is so cuz like the ls is a little bit better off the T box these launch better off the ground they’re a little shallower so it’s easier to get it airborne in comparison so really important thing to note here LS on the driver doesn’t necessarily mean you need the ls in the farewell yeah because you’re doing something different so again we talk about different ways to be creative in your bag you don’t always just have to match just right down the line just because you play the ls driver doesn’t mean the ls Fairway is right depending on what you’re trying to do with it so our Fitters can help keep that in mind you know when you’re doing something like that any of our sales guys you come to the floor you’re not doing a fitting you’re just shopping we’ll help you keep that in mind think about all those options so so you one Fairway Wood yep and and and I do four Wood’s great a lot of lot of us should be playing more higher LOF of Fairways just more off just easier the ball up in the air and you tend to hit it further anyway right five Woods seven Woods seven Woods on tour right now everywhere kind of exploding oh yeah all over the place uh and then so just one Fairway and no hybrid uh no hybrid no I I have played a hybrid before I did uh I still have this driving iron so it’s a mauno mp20 I’ve had it for a couple seasons now um I really really enjoy the shaft that’s in it it was one I was looking for prior and one ended up just strolling into the building and it worked out great so I did a utility iron because I wanted to have a lower shot off the te so something a little bit more controlled but this shaft allows me to into a green like on a par five or something for the yardage I can get some height on this thing I can get it to launch really really well so I can get that ball to come in steeper and uh settle into the green a lot better so usually hybrid at for most people is going to do that much better but I just wanted that lower t- shot um which can’t hybrids want to go up they want to go high so just a lower buff like uh with this still a little more forgiveness than what you’ve got in your iron set yeah yeah especially traditional three iron like this is way easier long shot easier to hit from here so really enjoying this thing so that’s uh been a couple years on that and that’s still not down to your irons your four through pitch I see uh yeah it’s it is a split set combo set yeah combo set so my four five and six iron are the uh Wilson stff model CB irons um this is their brand new one I wanted to do I have been playing blades for a couple Seasons but I decided to go a little more forgiving on the long side of the bag a little higher flight that was kind of the bigger reason why I went to a CB um cuz you get more perimeter weight usually just going to launch it a little bit higher so mostly that reasoning but uh we got the fitting heads in these things and they they feel incredible actually they’re they’re fantastic and the ball speeds ball speeds through the roof I don’t know what they did with these necessarily this time around cuz my lofs are the same but they’re going farther not mad about even remotely so it’s been uh it’s been really really great I’ve got a couple rounds on them and uh yesterday was I was thrilled thrilled with what I seen on of them so little split set on the top end and then seven through pitch I go down uh there yeah so the uh seven through pitching wedge did the uh blades so there a little more workability a little more Precision because like something usually at that point Seven’s kind of more that club where hitting into a green maybe trying to feed it into a pin or something like that so a little bit more movement on the shorter end of the bag to kind of be a little bit more precise going into the green trying to feed certain shots in draw off fade um lower higher whatever it might be basically so blades on the short end so seven through pitch and these things are even so like even these are the ball speeds great really really good s super happy pleasantly surprised to say the least in them so all right so then fourth through pitch and then what I would call is your new standard Loft in wedges yeah let talk to us about your wedges here yeah so I got a sm9 so this is my second season uh going into them um I got 50 54 58 degree which the old tradition was 52 56 60 a lot of people are hitting it farther now pitching wedges are stronger lofted so this has been more of the traditional lately for the past few years to more fit to what the pitching wedges are doing now for distance wise and stuff like that so uh fits my Gap well I get 15 yard gaping all going all the way down because it’s hard to 10 yard gapping is hard to have with wedges I mean unless the usj starts allowing 18 clubs can’t have that many technically so the 15 yard gapping fits really really nicely all the way down and then 58’s 100 in so it’s perfect right on the yarders that I like it to do and everything like that so you’ve got these are Voki sm9 yep uh just the the black finish or yeah just the raw finish yeah the jet black version yeah um I like that a lot because I don’t like especially in like the 50 Dee I’m not a big fan of chrome um so like when I open the club face it doesn’t line me in the glare yeah and it’s going to be a little softer feeling too as well so that’s usually why tour Pros are going to play Raw it’s cuz it be darker so it doesn’t glare but then also too softer feel so it feels more like what their irons do uh typically as well so really enjoying the second season on these the spin rate’s up which is nice um the flight’s still really low which is great too so because everyone always tries to hit their wedge really high I mean it’s got 58 degrees it’s got plenty of Loft on it so you don’t really need to help it so usually that lower shot a little more spin is more controllable um so getting your distance down is a lot easier to do so so I’ve been really happy with these I feel good and they perform great not not distance clubs all about control yeah y real accuracy so you do you if you’re only carrying a pitching wedge in your bag you’re hurting yourself yeah if you don’t know the off of your pitching wedge and you’re not watching gaps there you’re hurting yourself M so really important especially for a lot of mean your higher mid higher handicappers like myself but even a lot of you know mid lower handicappers right more options around the green Y is better yeah most in that scoring yeah not a lot of people practice half shots so the more you can full swing a club usually the easier it is for everybody typically so Y and like I make sure you know that l in your pitching wedge because before you just go buy that 52 if those pitching wedge L are so strong anymore you’ll see them down to 42 degrees or so yeah there’s stronger one there’s a couple 39s out there yeah so so that’s why we’re even seeing companies do sets where it comes pitching w approach wedge gap wedge when those used to be the that Gap and approach used to be the same thing and it’s not always anymore so just something to note when you’re filling in your wedge your wedges and and take care that those scoring clubs keep like like like Richard’s done you know make sure you’re choosing the right loss for your game right right all right we’re on to the putter the plasti so I did switch actually kind of end of the year um last year so I have a even roll so it’s a EV 5.2 too so even roll since their Inception like into golf um have been testing through the roof honestly so they roll really straight they get they get the ball rolling forward sooner so you getting less Back Spin and everything um control is great so they test really really well on like you wouldn’t think like how do you what do you do tech-wise to put a golf ball in a hole more well even roll does it they test really well you make more putts with even roll they’re designed for that so um getting a little more comfortable and familiar with this thing but incredibly happy out of the gate with it rolls great uh the distance control is super super easy with it it does a well job of that and it just hits the line and rolls on it really really well uh too so yeah even even R it’s fantastic they’re up there a little on price but they’re worth it and we we get some good deals on even roll we’ll see some really good really good deals but if you’re if you’re a c if you’re a customer and you’re shopping your higher tier title like Scotty Cameron’s bet nard Odyssey even rolls got to be Munos even rolls got to be one of the ones you’re checking out if you haven’t tried even roll before really give them a shot they’re they they really do perform it’s a great lots of different options lots of different right and most of you know most of these putter companies are giving you a lot of options St roll has done that for you too so from doing different hles head designs and shapes alignment y um they’ve got black finishes like this’ got Crome I mean you got got a lot of options so yep yep a lot of options to really fit the eye but they’re they’re worth it I mean they’re worth testing I mean it’s you pretty much can guarantee you probably make more putts regardless with getting one as it is so it’s a it’s a really solid flat STI and we do putter fittings here mhm um that’s that gets overlooked I think sometimes by guys buying by by customers buying Putters that you know we we Overlook we’re all about the driver fitting uh but but we do putter fittings and and tell tell me I guess tell me a little more about that what do I know it’s the quintech system yeah quintech y so it I mean these that thing kicks out so much data with it it can actually almost get overwhelming actually with the amount that it shows so it’s going to give you path it’s going to give you the rotation of it um you know show you you how you’re delivering the putter you know what kind of spin you’re getting on it what is it launching like I mean you name that I mean you name a data point it’ll read everything all the way through and we’ve been getting fantastic results with it to where we get so many dialed in and they bring it to the golf course and they see it they get the benefit they start making more putts um you know better consistency and the you know if you make more putts it usually means that score is going down so really really good keep that in mind if you’re buying a new putter um we can even fit your current Putter and take a look at how that’s working or really not working for you maybe it’s you know maybe that would be the deciding factor between yeah I better look at something else because this is all wrong right yep yeah definitely worth taking a look at I mean what do you use on every hole unless you get lucky mean you’re butter so that’s it mhm uh all right so we’re through the clubs I’d like to ask you I see a range grer on there mhm yeah so I’ve had this bush now for a few years now um I mean we sell a ton of bush Nows this one’s a two or V4 they’re all the way to the V6 now the V6 yeah V6 now couple other models too like Pro XE that’s their real premium one that one’s really nice um I mean watch now hunting Scopes I mean they’re they’re good they know what they’re doing and stuff like that so um it’s got a nice light up LED which I really like it pops up shows really really nicely but there’s a lot of really good rangefinders out there too Bushnell’s great Nikon does really really well too so this one’s been pretty solid I mean it’s four years I think I’ve had this for four years now actually so um battery replacement and rock and roll with it again so bushell’s really really good and then golf ball what what ball do you play golf ball um I’m betting those are in here oh I’ve been playing Bridgestone oh man 15 years now probably so they used to be b330 some people are a little more familiar with that but now they’re T orb so there’s two or b x and two or B XS XS is your higher spin X is your lower spin so depending on you know do you need to hit a lower do you need less spin do you generate enough or do you need more spin then you can you know pick between the models and everything so so I do tour BX hit a high enough I can generate plenty of spin so I want to reduce that it’s it’s mostly on the driver where that comes the most predominant uh but off of wedge though I get enough spin I don’t need more spin necessarily so sure if it spun a little bit more off of wedge that’d be okay but I don’t need it to do so for my game and where that’s at and stuff so yeah so the tour BX um Bridgestone was the b330 back in the day and stuff like that so I really I really enjoyed brid Stone a ton I mean it’s a tiger company they know rubbers they know polymers they’re really smart and I mean tiger play bridge Sone so how bad could they be teally so yeah so TB is your like if you’re in that pro1 market premium ball torb proy ones uh your Callaway PR series uh Wilson Staff on Z series those are all like the premium balls so lots of options in that pre premium premium space first on tour B models definitely one to consider they do have a couple other models too the RX yeah RX rxs that would be would be more my speed under 105 hour Club at speed that might that would be the the TB series I’d look at yeah same same benefit like still great urethane cover um lower compression it’s not going to feel so hard basically but you get all of the benefits from the tour B series The more premium the higher compression golf ball so same ball it’ll feel softer uh thanks for tuning in with another what’s in the bag and we look forward to seeing you on our next what’s in the bag video [Music]
