Why Are These Cards So Cheap? Some Of The Great Multiplayer Cards Of All Time!!

I absolutely love multiplayer cards. For some reason, they’re EXTREMELY affordable compared to the regular base cards and all star cards of the same players. Will they always be this cheap? Will they potentially skyrocket in price? It’s certainly possible, but unlikely, after being significantly more affordable for so many years. As collectors continue to put together player runs, many may find themselves searching for these combo (multiplayer) cards next. Whether the prices go up or down doesn’t matter to most collectors. But, there are some really amazing cards that have tremendous appeal. In this episode we take a look at some of the very best multiplayer cards of all time. We go through your submissions to determine what some of the communities favorites are!!

[Music] what’s going on everybody you know I I really like these Monday videos because these Monday videos I really learn a lot from all of you and one of the things I like to ask about is I like to ask about what cards do you guys like what cards out there do people really have a thing for because what happens is you all give responses you know like when I’ve said what’s the what do you think is the most beautiful card you know what card from the 1950s do you like Mo most what is your favorite rookie card when I ask questions like that I end up feeling like I’m taking notes the whole time that I’m reading your responses because there are great responses of things that hadn’t really caught my eye but you guys kind of see things and explain it in a way where it then gets added to my list it can be expensive but it’s it’s fun it’s fun to hear the perspective from all of you now in this particular week one of the things that I asked about or what I asked about was what are your three favorite multiplayer cards now in my opinion you know we go through all these where is their value you know where are things underpriced where are things cheaper than you would think because maybe they’re going to go up in value now maybe they won’t you know a lot of people say oh Greg you know if a card’s from 1960 and it’s cheap right now why why is it going to suddenly go up after 64 years and that’s a good question it might not but there are also cards that do and things change uh you know preferences change the hobby changes and one of the things that I’ve been saying for a while is that as people are getting into player runs right people go through player runs so they’ll pick a player say Ernie Banks and you collect all of his base cards and then what happens for a lot of people is after they finish the base run they go to all the cards that have Ernie Banks on it and as that has become more popular I feel like there’s starting to be some traction for multiplayer cards plus multiplayer cards are cool there are in many cases two or three or four really really good players all on the same card and it’s a way of collecting of you know a lot of different great players with one purchase and I think it’s a great way to potentially collect so that’s what we’re doing today is we’re going through now a lot of the times when we do these videos I stop and I you know chime in because I can’t help myself but this time we’re going to kind of go straight through I’m going to play about oh 13 or 14 responses of yours so we’re going to hear about 40 to 45 different cards that you all really like uh that are multiplayer cards so my advice is keep your eyes peeled see if there’s a card that you see it and go that is a cool looking card cuz as each card is mentioned what I’m going to do is I’m going to show a picture of it on the screen so you can see the card now what was fun for me is as I was first reading through these I was kind of going through the Rolodex in my head of trying to uh imagine the card see if I could see it just in my memory and in most cases I could but there were a few that I couldn’t um and those were fun to then look up and see the cards now there are cards all the way from the 1950s all the way to after 2000 that are mentioned there are rookie cards there are cards with five Hall of Famers on it there are cards with no Hall of Famers on it there are some great cards in here and I think that they’re ones that may be to consider for your collection now nobody mentioned the childhood multiplayer card that uh my dad and I really enjoyed and my dad my dad’s probably going what what card is that what card did did we like that wasn’t mentioned the 1982 Fleer Pete and Repeat card now in 1982 Fleer had you know a variety of different cards and one of them them was Pete Rose in the on Deck circle with his son also named Pete who was the bat booy and what happened is Pete’s Sun ended up being a pretty good baseball player and ended up actually playing a few games in the majors in fact I don’t know if a lot of people know this but when he made his major league debut uh Major League Baseball W gave a waiver to Pete Rose from his band from Major League Baseball to attend that game that day to see his son’s Major League debut and he had a few at bats and he didn’t have much of a career but as he was coming up and he was Rising through the ranks it was sort of you know my dad and I were like well if he makes it to the pros and becomes a a a star that card would be a really cool card uh but nobody mentioned that one so that’s my that’s my pick for one of my favorites is the Pete repeat card a very very cool card one of the only cards of a father and son um on a Major League baseball field or at least uh near The Dugout so uh before I go too far though I wanted to give a shout out to my guy Pete Pete hooked me up with this awesome Matt Manning Allen and Ginter card autographed by Matt Matt has kind of been bouncing back and forth between Triple A and the majors this year he’s had some starts he’s had some wins he’s he’s actually pitched fairly well he’s dealt with a couple of things that have kind of been little setbacks for him um and actually believe it or not the Tigers pitching staff is pretty deep right now it’s their hitting that can’t uh do well so he’s kind of battling for his spot but he’s definitely hanging in there and Pete my friend thank you for this card I do appreciate it let’s go ahead and take a look at quite a few of your recommendations for multiplayer cards and at the end I’ll kind of come back on and wrap it up and give a little uh give a little summary of how it went take a look take a listen at some really great multiplayer cards here are my choices for the best multiplayer cards in my opinion I love the 1978 Tops rookie catchers number 708 the design colors and border of this card are really really cool and the players featured are really good and the odd fact that D Murphy came up as a catcher is also great number two football 1991 Upper Deck number 35 aerial threats Joe Montana and Jerry Rice is incredible not only are these my two favorite players of all time but having them both on the field in action on the same card is super cool number three the 198 87 Leaf number 40 Mark Maguire and Jose cono equal RBI marks portrait with bats is awesome I really love the blue border and the fully uniformed Oakland A superstars with their smiling faces some of my multiplayer favorites the 1984 Topps Al active career save leaders cards it’s basically a mustache convention for r Fingers Dan quizenberry and Goose gosage the 1971 Topps NL strikeout leaders Siver Gibson and Jenkins all at the top of their game at the time but there’s also a visual symmetry to the card that accentuates an already standout Topps design year and the 1957 Topps Dodger Sluggers Campanella Snider Hodges and fillo OB obvously great players but with the ebbit field Outfield wall in the background and the players kneeling in the grass with bats in hand it feels like the last team moment before Dodgers departed Brooklyn the next year in Campanella had his accident you are speaking my language on this multiplayer cards my goal has long been to have every multiplayer card with at least one Hall of Famer my alltime favorite is the World Series batting foes just a gorgeous card with two of the all-time greats number two for me is the 1964 Topps in NL with Mae and Aaron how do you beat that pair number three is one I doubt anyone else lists but I love the 1981 Donis best hitters with Brett and Karu both Donis and Fleer brought back multiplayer cards for the first time since the big league Brothers in 1977 tops but Donis hit a home run with this one it looked as good as the classics the Fleer Superstar specials which I loved as a kid always seemed slapped together especially when compared to the best hitters favorite multiplayer cards number one king of them all in my opinion is the 1966 Topps number 215 NL batting leaders with Aaron Clemente and Mae is it possible to cram more Elite Hall of Fame Firepower onto one card this one League leader card that commands more money in high grade than most player base cards in that year I sold my PSA 7 long ago and recently had to settle for an SGC 4.5 at $110 to get a not badly centered one with nice eye appeal my only complaint is Willie is looking down or had his eyes closed a candid shot at least number two the 1962 Topps number 140 looks back to 1939 at Bay Bruth horsing around with a bemused L garri I have most of this Ruth series but this one is my favorite I bought a PSA 8 for about $80 in the early 2000s and thankfully never sold sort of a Bittersweet image as I get the impression babe is trying to cheer up blue who would be dead a couple years later number three not the most attractive or most popular set though I like the sepia tone of the 1941 double play better than the flat gray of the 48 Bowman double play number 8182 puts Hall of Fame Red Sox Legend Ted Williams and Joe Cronin on the same card that’s pretty hard to beat in 1941 22-year-old Ted was in only his third season and Joe’s long career was starting to wind down I had few pre-war cards but was able to snag a perfectly Centered well-presented sgc2 for $260 Allin and considered it a bargain I now own a card printed in Ted Williams’s thirdd season this was my submitted May pickup if any of this is useful best multiplayer cards three cards immediately popped into my head the t202 Hanan triple folder Tai Cobb steals third Jennings Cobb the 1958 tops World Series batting foes mantle and Aaron the 1966 tops 1965 batting leaders Clemente Aaron Mae three of the best cards my three favorite multiplayer cards are the 1968 Topps number 530 bird belters Brooks and Frank Robinson an awesome shot of two Great Hall of Famers in their Prime 1965 tops number five the 1964 RBI leaders Brooks Robin dick Stewart Mickey Mantle and Harmon KBW not only does the card have three Hall of Famers on it but it displays Brooks for his efforts with the bat and gives him Premier positioning over the guy from the Yankees and 2001 tops traded and rookies number t99 ichir Rose Suzuki and Albert phol can’t get much better than a rookie card with one of the best best home run hitters and an alltime alongside the first player of Asian descent to likely be inducted into the Hall of Fame Greg thanks for taking my call First Time long time my three favorite multiplayer cards of all time are as follows first I’ll say the 1968 tops Jerry kman Nolan Ryan rookie card it’s the greatest dual player rookie card ever featuring a great pitcher who clearly belongs in the Hall of Fame and Nolan Ryan too second would be the 1959 destruction crew card featuring Rocky Cavo and Hall of Famer mini manoso and my man Larry Dolby it is my favorite combo insert design and features a killer Trifecta of outfielders and finally the 2023 tops Now card featuring Sho Otani striking out Mike trout to win the World Baseball Classic that card represents a great moment in baseball history even though I was rooting for the red white and blue and it was made even more special because I was watching it unfold with son of mooki again thanks for taking my call I’ll hang up and listen to your response hey Greg great question in no particular order my favorite three multiplayer cards the 1959 tops number 212 fence Busters Aaron and Matthews just two iconic teammates and I love the coloring of the card 1963 tops number three NL home run leaders Aaron Robinson Mae Banks sepa some may not like the floating heads on the card but I think it’s cool and it features five Hall of Famers and some of the best hitters of the era third the 1912 t202 hisan triple folders Smoky Joe wood Tris speaker with speaker rounding third as the center panel being a Red Sox fan this one was always on my save searches on eBay in relation to your video today this one is cool because it encompasses both portrait photos and an action shot these two were a major part of the Red Sox success of the 1910s and it’s really awesome to have them featured on the same card Greg thank you for more Community awesomeness my three favorite multiplayer cards ranking may change at any moment number three the 1963 Topps Pride of the NL Maze and misual number two the 1962 Topps manager dream mantle and Maze and number one the 1958 Topps World Series batting foes mantle and Aaron this week’s question is very difficult to narrow down to just three of my favorite multiplayer cards as I have so many it is only fair to start with some honorable mentions the 1963 card number 242 Ernie Banks and Hank Aaron the 1958 tops Slugger Supreme Ted kazooki and Ted Williams and lastly one I’m sure most not aware of the 1960 JD McCarthy postcards mantle and Maris taken during their run after Ruth’s home run record my three favorites are in third place the 1957 Topps Dodgers Sluggers with ferillo campy Snider and Hodges number 400 The Boys of Summer Second World Series batting foes mickeey mantle and Hank Aaron number 418 and finally my favorite 1957 tops number 407 truthfully the cards speak for themselves for next week’s question I’d have to go with these three the 1963 Maze and musu I love how it looks like maze is examining musel’s bat while in mid conversation second I’d pick the 57 tops mantle Bara a great dug out pose and I believe Topps is first multiplayer card although I could be wrong finally I’d pick the molor traml rookie card not a great looking card but I can’t think of another rookie card featuring two Hall of Famers aside from the bird magic so that makes it a special card in my opinion my favorite multiplayer cards in reverse order number three the 1958 tops World Series batting foes card number 418 the colors are beautiful the bunting the youthful faces of Hank and Mick and it’s the only card to feature Aaron and mantle together number two the 1956 tops Hank Aaron card number 31 yes it’s a multiplayer card masquerading as Aaron’s base card with Willie May sliding into home in the action scene and number one the 19 12 t202 Hassan triple folders Lord catches his man foremost the Hassan triple folders is an entire pre-war set of gorgeous multiplayer cards every single card is a multiplayer card and the set features many Inner Circle Hall of Famers including Cobb speaker Matthews and Walter Johnson but Lord catches his man as my favorite it’s an incredible multiplayer card Fe featuring two players many who have heard of Lee tanah Hill and Harry Lord and a third player that does not appear anywhere else in the entire t22 set shess Joe Jackson yes the man that Lord catches sliding into third base is clearly Joe Jackson making this my very favorite multiplayer card of all time who says that multiplayer cards are more affordable option my multiplayer top three in no particular order number one Clement Mae and Aaron the 1966 Topps batting leaders the 1993 94 Hoops Magic Johnson Larry Bird number mb1 and number three the 2008 2009 Topps Chrome Kobe Bryant my reason alltime greats with iconic photos the Kobe is technically not a multiplayer card but the picture is amazing which includes LeBron hi Greg great question my three are the 1963 Pride of the NL Willie May and Stan muu it looks like Willie is showing Stan where on the bat he hit his last home run and the 1963 Power Plus with Ernie Banks and Hank Aaron it looks like they’re just got announced at an All-Star Game my third is awesome the 1973 all-time home run leaders Willie Mays Hank Aaron and Babe Ruth need I say more take care and God bless okay so there were some great cards in there and my guess is there were some great cards that you had maybe not really considered so my question for you is out of all of the cards I’ve got a couple of questions but my first question for you is out of all of the cards that were just presented as some of the best multiplayer cards of all time what’s the one that you don’t have that you would most like to have or what is the card that you weren’t really aware of how cool it was until you had just heard about it and saw it and now it’s on your list so what’s a card on your list moving forward as a result of that it was also cool that you know we think of the first multiplayer cards as coming from the 1950s you know uh there were the 54 obrien Brothers uh in the 54 top set there were some cards that started to come in in 1957 uh but the Hanan t202 cards are really cool cards they’re longer than a normal card they’re a little oversized my question to you guys cuz I think three of those were mentioned in in this particular uh episode from from from all of you how many of you out there are t22 collectors and and how many of you are actively uh trying to add those to your collection it’s a set that’s an old set it’s a very very cool set um but it’s not a set that I know a lot of people who have cards from the set so it’s curious to see how many of you out there are into those now my question for this coming week is a really I of course I think it’s an interesting question I wrote it my question for you for this week is this you know as we look forward over the next five years from today so if you took you know whatever the date is June 17th or something uh of 2024 and you were to move forward to June 17th or whatever 2029 which of these players do you think will see the greatest increase in their card values from today not from a month ago not from a year ago not from two weeks ago but from today which of these players will see the greatest increase in value in their cards all right option number one Mickey Mantle option number two Josh Gibson option number three Willie Mays now I’m not going to really get too much into why I think each of them uh would be an interesting choice I want to hear from you and I want to hear your thoughts on which one do you think is the best quote unquote investment or again I know most of us are collectors not Investments investors do you think will actually rise the most and don’t just pick a name pick a name and tell me why you chose that name that’s the thing I’m most interested in is if you think it’s mantle why is it mantle if you think it’s Gibson why if you think it’s maze why are you picking maze I think all three have a legitimate argument as to why they’re the best one to see the biggest rays but I want to hear from you and I want to kind of see if there’s a consensus from the group in the comments below share your information and your thoughts on that I look forward to going over them next week and by the way I hope everybody had a happy Father’s day yesterday [Music]

  1. Never considered the Hassan T202 as multi player cards. My want list has gotten bigger because certainly the center shot is what I think of as a multi-player. The T202 Tinker, Evers Chance is on my National want list. Gibson will see the biggest increase. If the only known playing days postcard comes up for auction it will go nuts. The Propegandes Gibson has been skyrocketing for the last 5 years and is considered his best card by most – the rarity is going to keep this one going up. His cards with a piece of his bat are already pricey and I think as more people want something from him in their collection – this is where they may go driving them even higher.

  2. I believe it’s really close between Mays and Gibson. In my opinion, Mantle is Mantle. I do not believe his prices will fluctuate too much in five years. I do believe with Gibson getting more attention, and the lack of many cards, the ones that are available see a major increase in value. I believe Mays will spike when he passes away (unfortunately), as is usually the case with players. But, that increase will most likely be short lived and return to normal.
After all this, I give the edge to Gibson, based on supply and demand.

  3. Hi Graig,
Thanks for your video about multiple player cards. My two favourite ones are the 1958 Topps World Series Batting Foes with Aaron and Mantle, and the 1966 Topps NL Batting Leaders with Clemente, Aaron, and Mays. These are two indispensable cards for me.
    Have a great week,
    Peter

  4. I say Willie Mays will increase. Willie is in his 90’s and probably doesn’t have too many years left. Once he passes you will see an increase in his card prices. Just my two cents. Thanks for the great videos!

  5. Pete and Re-Pete is a classic for sure, great choice for the lead-in. Enjoyed the format here of diving in on the comments with visual accompaniment. I was waiting for the Koosman/Ryan, glad to see that one make it! Great episode, Graig! 👊

  6. wow! that Shohei striking out Trout card is incredible. I didn't know it existed. I had to pause your video and go immediately to eBay!

  7. Love multiplayer cards
One that was missing was the 1964 AL Bombers with Mantle,Maris, Cash and Kaline.
One I have wanted to add is the Mantle/Aaron World Series Foes and one I want since seeing this video is the Mantle/Berra!

  8. I have and own two favorites – 1975 Rookie Outfielders Jim Rice, who was my favorite player as a kid; and 1953 Bowman Color Berra/Bauer/Mantle card that my dad gave to me

  9. Well the secrets out. I've been picking many of these multiple player cards up. Really great cards for the true collector.

  10. I just got back into collecting after 30 years and the first graded card I bought was a PSA 7 Pride of the N.L. w/ Mays and Musial. when I was a kid, it was hard for me to even dream of having a Willie Mays card. I read "Say Hey," his autobiography when I was a boy and he has always been my all-time fav even though his playing career was over by the time I was born. What a beautiful card that is! Relative to some others, it is priced incredibly low considering who is pictured on the card. The pitchers' equivalent to the batting leader card w/ Mays, Clemente, and Aaron has to be the 1966 N.L. Pitching Leaders card w/ Koufax, Marichal, Gibson, and Perry. 4 HOF'ers! Great card. and a shout out to the 1991 Fleer 'Chicago 100 Club' w/ 2 HOF'ers – Sandberg and Dawson. these multi-player cards didn't mean anything to me when I was pulling them from packs years ago, but now they tell a story about what I love about the game and why I love it in the first place. I was going through my boxes of commons and re-discovered this card and have had it on display in a Card Saver II long before I even decided to get back into the hobby. Great topic, Graig!

  11. I think there is only one reason that an all time great jumps ahead of his peers in card value. Media exposure. Unfortunately Willie Mays is the only one of the choices that is still alive, so unless something comes out about Gibson or Mantle, Mays will is most likely to increase the most. I also think Mays benefits from having cards in the 70’s that are fairly affordable. A small jump in price would have a fairly large increase percentage. I am not an investor, but for this scenario I’d load up on 70 – 73 Willie Mays cards. I’ve always thought 70’s super stars and HOF rookies have a lot of potential for increased value.

  12. Pete & Re-Pete is an all time classic of the hobby, delighted to see that featured! My goal is to complete a fully signed 80's Fleer Superstar Special run which this card is part of. As for which multiplayer card I could have if any it would be the ones from that series–signed–with Puckett Gwynn, and Gaylord Perry or any other deceased players I'm forgetting.

  13. Fun pick with the Pete and Re-Pete multi player. The Ripken's and Griffey's have one, too.

I would stick to players like Jackie Robinson, Aaron and Clemente. Even Jackie, has semblance of representation. 1948 to 1956. Sometimes the safer picks end up being the best ones. But I do think there's still some growth potential here, for all 3. Gibson, has so few cards. I understand the supply, however the demand, is a bit too uncertain, for myself.
Volatility could be a concern as well. Lesser supply cards can see the most price fluctuations. Both highs…and lows.

Realistically, though, collectors likely would have to settle for Josh Gibson's Laughlin, a post playing days card, or his modern.
I think those, who paid exorbitant amounts of money, due to FOMO. So, this could be, the Josh Gibson peak, but I don't know.
You don't have to be a baseball fan though, to know, Jackie Robinson and what he represents.

Here's an analogy. Might not be a good analogy. But an analogy. If Mickey Mantle, is the Beatles to vintage baseball, Mays in this case would be The Rolling Stones. Rolling Stones were pretty great, too. ''BeatleMania'' was on a whole other level.

No one should take my advice, though, for any dollar sign. Or at face value. But we're responsible adults. Hopefully. 😊

  14. Mantle vs Mays vs Gibson. I'm a set collector and still need 51B, 52T, 52B Mantle & Mays to complete those sets. I hope the prices go down over the next 5 years so I can finally complete those sets. I've thought Mantle was overpriced since the 80's but price just keeps going up. If they don't ever come down in value, I'll just have those holes in my sets. It's not worth it to me to spend more than a few thousand dollars on an old piece of cardboard. I'd rather spend that money on something else entirely. Mays will most likely pass away within next couple of years and will get a temporary bump. He also seems more popular than Mantle among younger collectors. Josh Gibson only has one playing days card (which there is only one copy of) so kind of a strange choice and hard to compare to Mantle/Mays whose cards are readily available.

  15. My favorites are the 1967 card with Mays and McCovey(Fence Busters), the 1968 card with Mays, Mantle and Killebrew(Super Stars), the 1962 card with Mays and Mantle(Managers Dream), the 1964 card with Mays and Aaron(Tops in NL) and the 1966 batting leaders card with Mays, Aaron and Clemente. I always found it interesting that 3 home run hitters were on the same card for batting leaders, as they all out hit singles hitters like Pete Rose. I think as younger card collectors replace us older guys, the 1950's and 1960s cards might begin dropping in value. Maybe they have already?

  16. I think that on a percentage basis, the Josh Gibson is going to gain the most over the next year. With all the talk of re-configuring the record books, and including the Negro league players it has a good possibility of becoming a quite expensive card. Also,Josh Gibson cards are pretty rare so there aren’t many around.😅

  17. I am pretty surprised that nobody chose the Bird Magic Dr. J card. Probably one of the most expensive and sought-after multiplayer cards out there. The one card that has been on my list for quite some time is the batting foes card. Probably the most iconic multiplayer baseball card ,in my opinion .It is pretty expensive in higher grades and not easy to find in high eye appeal lower grades. Thank you for all the hard work you do.

  18. I am assuming we are looking for the investment with the greatest percentage increase. While the Mantle card will probably have the greatest dollar increase, I think the Gibson will have the greatest percentage increase. First, the current price is fairly low. Second, the supply is low so a small increase in demand should result in an increase in price. Third, the inclusion of his records in the official MLB statistics should increase the awareness of him and his cards. Thanks, Graig!

  19. Hey there Graig thanks for giving props to the Pete & Re Pete Card. Being a Cincy fan that is one of the cards that I still have from my childhood collecting days. When I got all my childhood cards back out 2 years ago(when I got back into the hobby) this is one of the first cards I searched my old collection for. Great pick!

  20. I only own one T202 and it is the Collins/Home Run Baker. Would love to get more but it’s tough when there’s so many other cards on my list. Not to mention, my list continues to grow at a faster rate than my ability to actually find and buy the cards on my list haha.
As for your question this week, I think they will all continue to increase in price, but I think Gibson has the best chance to increase by the greatest amount. I know Gibson’s card prices have already just recently gone up due to him getting into the MLB record books, but there are just so few cards of his out there. I think rarity will play a big factor into his prices continuing to rise. Mantle and Mays certainly have some oddball issues and cards in high grades that many would consider rare, but most of their cards in lower grades are very easy to find. With Gibson now being in the official record books, I think the younger generation that is getting into vintage cards and the history of baseball will start to learn more about his life and career. That will only add to the demand for his cards that there are already so few of.

  21. With the recent addition of Negro player stats being added to the Hall of Fame totals and the sparse amount of Josh Gibson cards available should make them increase the most. The highlighting of Negro League statistics can only make Josh's focus increase.

  22. The 1973-74 Topps Kareem card with Wilt Chamberlain guarding him has always been my favorite "multi-player" card (since you included the Kobe/LeBron card).

  23. For next weeks Question My answer is Josh Gibson. I think his cards are going to start to gain more attention for a few factors #1 The M.L.B. all-time stat's controversy #2 Negro League players are finally starting to get the recognition they have always deserved. They are staring to be talked about more.

  24. I’m a big fan of the 1967 Lou Brock + Curt Flood card. They won their second series together that year. It’s an extra great find as an auto card (both signed quite a bit.)

  25. Hey Graig. Love that 59 fence busters Aaron/mathews. I think josh Gibson will go up the most because of recent stat changes with the MLB. I also see vintage cards going up. Thanks!

  26. Hi Graig,
Great idea for a video on the multiplayer cards. I have a binder dedicated to these cards. Thanks to your video I became aware of the Tris Speaker card but it might be a little out of my reach. In terms of which player's card will go up the most in value I think it will be Willie Mays. He is the oldest living Hall of Famer who will get a lot of attention when he does pass. BTW I'm glad you liked the card and I'm rooting for Matt.

  27. A a Dodger collector, I have to say two of the best are the 1957 Dodgers Sluggers and the 1958 Boss & Power with Snider and Alston, but my all time favorite is the 1965 topps leaders card with Koufax and Drysdale, because its the first card my Dad ever got me. Nothing can replace that one! Great video.

  28. I already planned to own the Cobb/Jennings Hassan triple folders in the future, but I hadn't really been clued into how cool the Joe wood/Tris speaker card is as well… It may go somewhere down the list. Also of note, they are incredibly affordable.

  29. I personally love multiplayer cards. I commented to Theo once that I don’t understand why they’re less valuable. We collect cards of players because they’re great. Cards that were specifically produced because of their greatness I.e league leaders, World Series, etc speak to their greatness more than the base card.

My Gibson, Brock, and Boyer PCs are dominated by the cards made for his exploits.
Boyer’s multiplayer cards are the only reason why I have cards of Mays, Aaron, Clemente, Mantle, B. Robinson, Banks, Matthews, and that other 3B who is in the hall of fame while Boyer is not.

  30. Graig, I love the multiplayer cards, mainly because I love seeing All-Time greats on the same card. I guess my most valuable one is the Nolan Ryan/Koosman, and it's a beauty but I really love some of the pre-war multiplayer baseball cards and the dynamic duo cards like the Montana/Rice.

BTW — last week I purchased the 1970 Topps trio of All-Time Greats in a multiplayer basketball card – in an above average PSA grade — Lew Alcindor, Jerry "the Logo" West RIP, and Hayes, and it didn't break the bank. These cards are quite reasonable compared to current players who are having phenom seasons 🙂

  31. Hey Graig great investment question to explain thoroughly why #1 Josh Gibson goes up in value is by 2029 by the time the research comes trickling in about his official HR count could very well be beat Hank Aarons HR record *Bonds notwithstanding as there's still plenty of microfiche to pour over and old archival records his cards will go through the roof. Secondly the Say Hey Kid Mays is in his '90's now and the time on the clock is running out if Willie is still by 2029 that's fine by me but as we all know too well once a Hof'er dies there's a spike in value for his cards. I say lastly on the list the MM man card values go down as he's been the post war super star player to collect at remain at the top decades and it high time to pass the baton on to someone else.

  32. Another great video Graig! I am glad the Power Plus got some love, its one of my favorites. I am surprised no one mentioned the 1959 Topps #543 Corsairs outfield trio. I really like the design of that one with the red circle and yellow background. Most of the 59 Topps multiple player are pretty cool. The pride of the NL is definitely one to add to the list. I was not aware of that one.

I have been buying the middle cuts separated for the Hassan Set. I recently bought a Nap Lajoie center panel and have it in grading now. The problem is that CGC is the only ones I found that would grade, both SGC and PSA declined to grade them because they were not complete cards.

For next week's question, I really want to answer Josh Gibson. I think supply and demand would increase the value, due to limited number of Gibson cards, but Mickey still the king and his demand will outpace Gibson's.

  33. Graig, your videos are such a labor of love! The multiplayer card from this video I would love to obtain is the 1941 Double Play Ted Williams and Joe Cronin!

I think Mays' card values will increase the most in the next 5 years. Mays was in the Negro Leagues, so he has that history going for him, like Gibson. Sadly, Gibson's values will always be hurt, at least to some degree, by the fact that his baseball play and history are not chronicled to anywhere near the degree of Mantle and Mays! If Mantle and Mays were currently at the price same level, I might answer differently. Mays' values may never catch Mantle's values, but I think the gap between them will shrink over time. Also, as collectors decide to start player runs or Topps player runs, Mays has some expensive cards, but Mantle has the ultimate stopper from 1952 Topps! Finally, many consider Mays the best overall player of all-time. Take care, my collecting brother! 😊👊
