Polish 🇵🇱 Black Belt Becomes First European to Win Worlds!

Let’s talk about the first European man to become an IBJJF black belt World Champion

Adam Wardzinski of Poland just made history.

The 33-year-old black belt from Poznan – who represents Checkmat – has been competing on the black belt scene since 2016.

In that time he’s won important titles including the IBJJF European and Pan Championship, and the Abu Dhabi World Pro.

But no European black belt had ever managed to win gold at Worlds – until now.

Wardzinski competes in the heavyweight division, and not only did he win the gold medal – he did it with a 100% submission rate.

He beat:
– Rafael Silva by choke from the back
– Mateus Rodrigues by triangle
– Rider Zuchi by Ezekiel choke
– and Vinicius Liberati by kata gatame

Wardzinski’s perseverance paid off, and he will always be remembered as the first European male black belt to win Worlds.

  1. I took a class taught by him in San Diego and didn't even know he was a champion. He taught single leg wrestle up from seated guard
