hey guys Danny your golf coach welcome to drop 10 charts Series today we have moved on closer to the green and we’re gonna talk about your chip shop I know a lot of offers tend to waste about at least two to three shots per round by either like sculling across the green or hitting it fat when you’re doing little chip shots but today we’re going to actually learn to chip like Scotty shuffler he’s one of the hottest players out there if you take a look at his chipping technique it’s very clean and his directional distance and it’s being controlled is excellent you might be sitting there thinking well he’s a tour pro of course he’s good but if you do this just one thing I’m going to show you you’re going to be surprised how well you’re gonna start chipping so ready to get any fight let’s go with golfers most common fault is to see your hands press forward the Leading Edge is touching the ground so this means you’re using the Leading Edge to enter the ground when you do this the mat wouldn’t give you the feedback exactly but the grass will for sure if you are going into the golf ball with your Leading Edge the Leading Edge will dig into the ground especially if it’s like a muddier kind of soil or if it’s wet kind of soil or sticky grass the Leading Edge will get caught into the ground you’ll end up hitting it super fat to the point where you might Advance it maybe like two feet hitting it fat this way or sometimes you’re trying to avoid hitting it fat and getting that Leading Edge stuck in the ground you might help it up and that you might end up scalding it using that Leading Edge so the biggest No-No is having your hands forward Leading Edge touching the ground using the Leading Edge to go into the golf ball if you look at Scotty Scheffler he stands super narrow he grips down on it his weight is in the front foot about five to ten percent extra he anchors down on there so he doesn’t have a lot of movement during the church shot and then his hands are more in the middle this way instead of press forward when your hands are more in the middle now your bowels is touching the ground which means your Leading Edge is going to be off the ground ever so slightly and he’s using the bounce when you use the bounce when it enters the grass even if you catch it ever so slightly fat the club head will not get stuck in the ground it will be able to glide through beautifully because the bounce is designed to help you with that and you will be able to hit a decent shot even though it was a terrible fat Miss and also if you’re using the bounce you’re pounding down into the ground rather than helping it up as if you’re using the Leading Edge so you will eliminate a lot of scald misses so you’re going to be very surprised on how consistent your chipping becomes the only thing here is that when you are set up with the hands more in the middle and the Leading Edge is sitting kind of off the ground up in the air a lot our amateurs tend to get very uneasy with this setup because they feel like the Leading Edge is in the air so you’re going to catch it with the Leading Edge but because the bounce is touching the ground you will have higher chances using the bounce which is going to eliminate a lot of Misses so hands in the middle leading edges off the ground and you’re going to be using the bounce and the directional distance and spin control is going to become super consistent and under control so how do we actually use the bounce correctly this is the number one question I get asked the most so I have a fantastic amified drill Tada I often use the clipboard but today I have like a lid to a plastic box so this is going to give me a really good feedback on what part of the club head hits the ground first so let’s get rid of that ball I’m going to place the lid on the ground and when you set up with the hands in the middle you can tell clearly that the Leading Edge was off the ground and bounces touching the lid and here you’re going to just rock your shoulders meaning using your body turn push two hit that bounce on the lid let’s try and exaggerate and do it the wrong way hands press forward Leading Edge going into the ground you will definitely feel the difference I mean there are times where you have to set up with your hands forward you’re delofting the club and the Leading Edge is touching usually when we do bump and runs we do have this technique but you just don’t want to use it on regular basis because when you’re using the Leading Edge you really need to have excellent control over the club head and there are higher chances of Miss hitting it so I would not recommend using that Leading Edge type of a shot as a regular Chip Shot you need to understand how to use the bounce it’ll not only help you with the chip shots around the greens but also help you with your bunker shots and flop shots as well so using the bounce is like a must in your Shortcake so when you are using this lid you’ll feel the bottom part of the club the bounce hitting down onto the ground when you do this without the lid and you’re doing it with the ball now what you’re going to feel is you’re going to as you hit the ball on the club face simultaneously you’re going to hit the bounce on the ground a lot of golfers tend to hesitate this feeling because when they feel the bowels hitting down onto the ground they think they’re hitting it back but you’re hitting the ball on the face at the same time as the bounce hitting on the ground so that is not considered hitting it fat you’re just hitting both things simultaneously at the same time so it kind of goes like this hands in the middle you’re making sure you’re pounding the bounce into the ground as opposed to helping it out like this so when you help up your chip shots there’s so much to lose and when you are just taking the club and bounce that bounce onto the ground like that then that’s when you eliminate a lot of the misses so even if you catch the bounce on the ground and ball on the face at the same time don’t feel free to do that because that’s really going to help you to get that spin and distance directional control on point and you’ll be very happy to see how much control you have over your chips and eliminate a lot of thin shots and fat shots get more up and downs guys if you have the tendency to have your hands pressed forward and using the Leading Edge try out Scotty shuffler’s Way hands more in the middle use the bounce you’d be very surprised how consistent your chip shots become and you’ll be getting up and downs lowering your score faster than you can say nice chip in the next video we’re gonna move on to your putting to help you become a great putter by using this simple drill you can do during the season thank you so much for golfing with me today and see in the next one [Music] foreign
