I’m here looking at the premium Trix and golf balls that are current for 2024 we’ve got the qar Z Star Zar XV and Z star Diamond and we’re looking at what they do with a [Music] driver I’ve already hit a few drivers and I’ve noticed a few differences between the blls and most of the differences I’m seeing between them is based on bull speed few differences in launch and spin B full speed between each golf ball how it flies off the face how it squashes and releases off the face relative to my speed that will be different for each golfer but this gives us a nice Baseline for that now with the qar tour if you see my other video on wedges and irons we got a bit more speed from the face on that golf ball because we had a bit more squash and release with the slower swing speeds so with a medium to slow swing speed on the driver you could well get more ball speed out of the qar tour because it’s got that rebound off the face but when you get a little bit far faster and you go into that higher swing speed the ball stops releasing off the face cuz it’s got It’s squashing too much to basically be able to do that so I haven’t been able to get this goldf to get over 164 mph speed it’s almost got a little bit of a sealing of speed from the face especially when I push slice it it carried a long way that is wet but it feels nice and soft of the face doesn’t feel too hard or harsh spin rates stay fairly low we’ll have a look at the data at the end totally deleting those two shots it’s not fair to put them in there cuz it’s my shocking swing now I have hit a couple of really long shots with the qar tour so it can get up there but it didn’t do it through ball speed it did it because the launch was nice and high and the spin was nice and low in how it flew so it cut through the air really well really efficiently and it got there on flight characteristics as opposed to Raw speed carrying pretty well getting up there pretty well it’s not a shy golf ball it just isn’t quite as good as the Z Star range for me and now we go to The Zed star so current ones have the little Gap in the writing there instead of it being filled in if you find a zed star that’s got that filled in it’s going to be slightly different to this not by a lot but they do change it they change the formula a little bit here and there and there is actually a scenario on tour so a lot of guys use titless Pro one fine but on the tour they don’t always use the current prov1 you will get 20 players that use the prov1 but there were some of them that Ed the 2013 bowl there’ll be some of them that use the 2019 ball cuz they prefer that golf ball for their flight statistics not all of them use the actual golf ball that is what you’d buy in the shops and I’ve always found that slightly interesting uh we’re on Zed star now Z Star very good performing golf ball it’s got a harder core than the qar so it does get a bit more balls speed for me and I find the launch and spin to be quite consistent with this as well and I’m just quite enjoying that right semi- Ruff half decent carry spin spiked up a little bit but bull speed jumped up above 163 it’s got up to that 167 area 166 now I go into the XV the Z Star XV golf ball now when we were hitting these with the wedges I saw more spin with this golf ball I saw the most grab and control into the greens with this ball let’s just see how it performs with a driver yeah it kind of flies pretty well loads of carry loads of run got up there at 326 it goes quite nicely now what I found with last year’s golf ball on the XV is that I got higher spin on the wedges and then I got still quite High spin on the irons and then when I went to the driver the spin went lower and I think that’s pretty consistent with what I’m seeing here again but my favorite part of the these individual golf balls like you got titless prov1 titless prov1x you got two golf balls to choose from in this rtion yes we have Z Star Zar XV and Zed star Diamond we’ve got three balls to choose from in that premium lineup but they’ve all got subtle differences that can suit different golfers in different areas now one of my favorite things here is that the Zed star Diamond has a different flight it has a different height little push bit of a Mis strike but the spin still stayed quite low that bu’s wet now we go into the diamond the Zar XV and the diamond from f are the two hardest core golf balls they feel Harder They sound higher pitched and they do get a bit more rebound off the face for me so I quite like the extra ball speed that I get from those two golf balls but there is a difference in overall height which can be important for different types of golfers and different types of golf courses that you play pretty good comparable shot swing speed staying pretty consistent ball speed up not going as far on that shot cuz it’s in the rough not necessarily the golf Ball’s fault and that was a really bad strike but I’ll take the shot low spin good run getting up there 318 pretty nice now in all honesty I do find the driver to be the most variable like Club to use in a test so I’m just going to flick out a couple of shots 266 carry there that can get out uh they’re all pretty good they are all pretty good 28 28 n yeah they’re pretty good as well so if I take that one extra shot out it only changes one yard anyway so Peak height the highest point the ball reaches with a qar is 102 on average with the Zed star we jump to a higher point we get 113 on average so we’re reaching a higher point if you need to get over trees if you’re trying to cut Corners that can be good because you reach a higher Peak height so one might hit the tip of the trees one might go over the trees just in golf ball choice and ooh interesting so I’ve got the bottom end of The Zed star XV balls here average 106 and then we got average 107 so the highest point that they reach is lower than the Zed star but quite similar to each other from what I found here 297 against 296 one yard in it Peak height one yard in it as well so Club datawise this is smash factor or efficiency and it’s to do with how fast the ball comes off the face relative to your Club head speed my club head speed stayed fairly consistent between the between the golf balls slightly slower but not by a lot so I’m delivering quite consistent speed I’m getting different rebound rates from that speed I didn’t get as much speed out of the qar because that squash isn’t quite getting the re the reload that I want with the harder inner cor I’m getting a bit more bounce off the face that will differ for every golfer uh my paths were fairly neutral fairly similar and my angle of attack so how much I hit up on the golf ball was pretty similar and pretty uniform between them as well and data wise we’re seeing a jump in speed there’s more speed when I get the firmer inner cores when I get the softer inner core I’m not getting as much but I did get more when I was hitting the wedges if you jump on that video to have a look at that spin ratees fairly similar I’ve got the lowest spin rate with the Q Z star Diamond which is nice higher launch lower spin lower launch higher spin slight sort of like blend between the three not seeing that much difference between these two here we saw a bit more difference on the irons and the wedges the separation point I’m really thinking about here is that the Z star is higher these two are lower if there’s a better difference elsewhere in the bag that benefits between these two then you make that choice based on wedges and irons with the driver quite similar but progressively longer once we get up to these golf balls well I quite enjoyed that don’t forget to jump on the first and second video the first video was how the wedges perform on a partial and a full shot the second video was on how the ions perform in terms of height spin how they land between those golf balls as well so when there’s something where it doesn’t change much at one point in the bag but then somewhere else in the bag there’s a bigger difference you’re just thinking about where your game is and where you want your game to be if I play on a links course I want a lower Peak height I want to keep it under the wind a bit more if I play my home course like Glon Buzzard I go across a lot of Corners I go over a lot of trees so I might choose a golf ball that’s going to get up and over those bits a little bit easier without actually changing my carry number so there is a few things to consider but I hope you found that enjoyable and helpful and I’ll see you on the next video don’t forget to watch episode one and two of this series

  1. I use the Q star tour , 7iron swing 84mph carry 168 yards , driver 240 carry . Is this ball ideal or too soft , like this ball feels soft and considered if it’s loosing me distance . Should I try another ball , love the soft feel and general forgiving nature , high flight

  2. loved this series! I've played all the Srixon urethane models and found positives about each one. Right not I think I like the Diamond the most….but that could change after my next round 😬
