importantly Greg what is the Stella update how is Stella doing uh Stella is better not out of the woods still some concerns but much better than where we were 24 hours ago that’s for sure good A lot of people were concerned yesterday a lot of people Furious that Joe brand was here and you were not no that’s not true Joe did a great job we were happy to have him a big thank you to our pal Joe for stepping in uh literally at the last minute he did and then what I didn’t know was he had to do a game in Kane County last night so he had to leave here and get out there so uh big step up for Joe bran so thanks to him for doing that uh we’re going to get to the what we can of the remainder of our mailbag questions we still have a ton left um but we want to start today with the Stanley Cup one goal in two games and boy the Panthers just look like a team of Destiny right now well the Oilers after game one I was felt the Oilers shouldn’t be discouraged they played a really good game they got goaled um and it seemed that the Panthers took advantage of the few breakdowns they had that first goal was bad defensive play and then there was the the the play uh on the second goal where it was behind the net and nurse turned it over and so I was like okay you know you got goal lead in game one you’re not going to go 0 for three on the power play every night well they had their chances they’re up one nothing the Panthers were the better team but the that game was there for the Oilers until the third period but they just can’t can’t get the power play going they can’t get much going five on at least they didn’t get much they had really good five on five game one and it was the exact opposite game two um you know and the Oilers are starting to remind me of last year’s Panthers where they got to this point and then they tried so hard to get there yep and then now now they’re starting to get some injuries Darnell nurse uh who some other fans would tell you hey less of him is good he’s still like if your replacement seventh defenseman is better than Darnell nurse there there that’s a serious problem down to nothing to the Panthers yeah so he’s hurt Evander Kane is at the point where you know uh noblock Chris noblock has to consider sitting him down I know he’s a veteran he’s playing in his first stanle cup final it’s hard to go to a guy like that and say I have to sit you but at this point he’s hurting you more than he’s helping you well yeah and a couple days off will help him I think you would think but I mean if you got if you got a sports hernia playing hockey two days is not going to help it well I mean look we talked about what um Matthew kachuck was going through last year with a broken sternum yeah like there’s a reason that all of a sudden your star players look like they’re out of gas because not only are they probably out of gas cuz like you mentioned they’ve been grinding to get there all year like the Florida Panthers needed to the last day of the season to get in thank you buddy Robinson and the Oilers were similar this year cuz they dug themselves in such a hole that they had to play balls out 100% from November to the end of the year to get there and that eventually catches up to you it does it does and just Florida’s really good and can I say something somewhat controversial games are kind of boring they haven’t been great there’s not a lot going on no LZ tweeted this out last night that’s what that’s what the Panthers want oh hey man it’s going to get them a cup great that’s why the Panthers are up two nothing cuz there’s not a whole lot going on this is from uh last tweeted this last night per Natural stat Trek there wasn’t a single five on five high danger chance either way in the third period last night Florida had just four in the game Edmonton did not have a single five on five high danger chance the entire game with Conor McDavid and Leon dryo on your team that’s impossible yeah it’s that’s what the Panthers are doing man and I mean look Pro you said it too like props soers it was 2-1 for a long time and they won shot and they back in things but it’s there’s not a lot going on and Florida is smothering and you’re starting to see too you got dry settle throwing a questionable hit you’ve got Carrick with the nut slash you’ve got a Vander Kane sing things up they’re getting frustrated now you’re seeing the Oilers get frustrated right so shifts back to Edmonton so everything could change very quickly but series is far from over but it’s not trending in the direction the Oilers wanted to but two games at home could p a lot you get that first Power Play goal you get things rolling all of a sudden that confidence comes back the Panthers are going to give you plenty of chances on that power play they’ve been playing that game one they played with fire with all the power play chances they gave them you and last night it was like they get the five minute major on on uh who was the uh sorry uh who was the uh it was late in the I forget who the what the the power the uh call was um it was the kn call on uh oh yeah um [ __ ] was it McLoud Fogle Fogle NE neon neon the one of the 19 finish players on uh the Panthers and they get the five minute major and then uh was it vergy that takes the penalty it’s four on four and an eckol scores and you’re thinking okay Oilers got this uh and uh yeah the hit the dry Sidle hit I didn’t like it it wasn’t great it was shitty barov did put himself in a vulnerable position and dry Sidle took advantage of it uh I mean he’s air Airborne when he makes that like it’s not and it wasn’t like one of those like I hit the guy so hard at my feet came off the ice it’s I’m going to launch myself at him super and if barov can’t play he never he didn’t return to the game he’s playing uh if he’s out you know but you saw eblad get hurt during that game and it was like oh it’s a day ending and why Aaron NE blads hurt but he came back Evan Rodriguez the hero of the game left at some point like the attrition starting to catch up to both teams so and and the the coaching experience between Maurice and noblock is starting to show to uh for whatever reason noblock decided to go back to nurse and CC uh for game one even though when he split them in Dallas they won three straight three in a row without them together and in game one he decides to put them back together and what happens they’re on the ice for both of the goals and look bad in the process like don’t stop overthinking it just stick with what’s it’s it’s kind of the the weirdness of I I feel this way with like all playoff Sports you play 82 games or 162 games or whatever it is and you play the style and then you get to the playoffs and you’re like well we got to do we got to be different we got be we’ got we got to play their game no play your game yeah I mean at this point the Oilers should just say f it running gun girl you brought the old cliche goes and like I’m not a fan of loading up McDavid dry Sidle and Heyman at five on five all game that takes that basically makes you a one line team the Panthers can stop that line you lose that basically reverts you back to the Oilers we’ve seen the last couple years where those guys had to do everything that wasn’t the team that won the first three rounds they were using their depth they had multiple lines and now all of a sudden they’re going to go back and revert and you know it’s just it’s bad coaching it’s it’s it’s at the worst possible time and you can’t you don’t panic after being down one- nothing and it has that feel and especially especially after the first game when you pretty much do like the Oilers deserve to win that game like you said they got goal lead and why change anything and obviously props set of panthers for adjusting and and doing what they had to do to slow things down but look they got two games off they’re back Thursday that game’s at uh 7 Chicago time back in Edmonton so you you can only do one at a time it’s a must-win game for the admin I don’t know who’s beating the Panthers four out to five that’s really hard for me to imagine but nobody thought oers are going to beat the Stars three in a row and you you can’t look at it that way you can’t the Oilers can’t say we have to win four out to five they say we have to win one we have to win the next one and you have to win the next game yeah you can’t win four out of five if you well you still can technically win four out of five if but you have to win game three yeah and then you go from there uh but if it goes back to Florida for game five 3-1 it’s pretty much over they got to win both of these games yeah uh speaking of that um we had to because of uh some stuff going on with with Greg’s PFF and everything else we had to cancel our uh watch party at SOS last night but we’re going to do it a week from Friday so the 21st we’ll be at SOS for game six should game six happen we’re hoping another reason we need the Oilers to win both games and yes please win both games so we have a game six party at Sero so maybe we’ll still go anyway I’ll go hang out and eat pizza and wings I’m down with that so put that on your calendar the 21st a week from Friday we’ll be out there at slos hopefully watching some hockey um before before we get to the break Zone Jeremy cowton today back in the NHL hired by Sheldon Keefe and the New Jersey Devils and we were talking off the year you said he’s going to handle the forwards and the offense is that the uh Power Play and the forwards yeah okay keep him away from the defense you should be all right um I mean listen for all my first hands accounts in the very little time I had you know the three or four games that I had covered while he was in Rockford that I got to interact with him personally seems like a nice guy sure hopefully he learned his lesson that you can’t walk into an NHL room and be my way or the highway kind of guy you have to adapt you have to be flexible Luke Richardson is learning that um so not being being an assistant is different than being a head coach um but you know having Sheldon Keefe who not all the problems in Toronto were his fault what but he didn’t help a lot either especially in the playoffs another another guy that would you know make questionable lineup decisions matchup decisions in the playoffs overthink things underthink things you but him with katton there it’s a recipe for disaster but if it’s two guys that have legit learned their lessons from their past failures yeah there’s enough Talent on that team to to be good but we’ll see what happens well look it’s not Toronto not Sheldon ke is not going to have every single shift scrutinized like he did in Toronto correct so there’s going to be a lot of pressure off both of them really yeah I mean Colton walked into a pressure cooker replacing Joel quinnville impossible situation replacing you know the most beloved hockey coach in this original six history uh you know walked in Scotty Bowman might have a say in that but I me I meant in this franchise uh so you know not an easy task so there’s going to be a lot of less pressure on them there’s still going to be some pressure because that that’s a team with expectations and if it starts off like crap who knows yeah I mean look there’s when CT was promoted it was kind of like a oh that seems a little early but okay it wasn’t like everyone kind of knew when Colton was in Rockford that he was going to be like the next like hot commodity right like now he’d be getting his first job not seven years ago too much too soon it too much too soon and the wrong group at the wrong time yeah like if they had waited and then hire put him there instead of Luke Richardson I’m not saying it would be better but it might it might have worked a little bit better than it did with Taves and Kane and HOSA and all those guys he came in coach it’s like come on that’s a really tough situation did uh did Arvin soderbom do something bad on social media today he’s just getting murdered in the chat for absolutely no reason I don’t see that yeah it’s been in there a couple times every time I look up someone’s on that’s a tease though there’s a mailbag question kind of about that I just don’t know gang don’t don’t worry about Arvin sod Bloom like he’s not going to whether or not Colorado all right we have gotten through it we have talked about the Oilers and Panthers we’ve talked about Jeremy Kon let’s get back into the mailbag uh I think we’re going to have to adapt by the way we were talking about this off the air mailbag Monday has become so popular that it almost takes a whole week to get through them so we may have to start being a little more selective yeah yeah I mean I think we get a lot of the same questions just worded differently we’re going start like putting those all in one question then we’ll have to be a little more selective uh with questions but this is the right time to use mult this is the right time of year for m exactly but yeah we’ll probably have to be there might be a committee formed on questions get used and which don’t all right let’s go first one all right this one from JP Walsh 34 who on the Hawks is going to have a breakout year and surprise some people or who will be this year’s cish show thanks for all y’all do to occupy as summer Hawks fans well I mean the obvious hope I think for everybody in the organization that this year’s Philip Kev is Lucas reel yeah that’s who you’re hoping has that Breakout out year um he’s definitely one of the candidates I think Kevin kinsky taking a big jump forward not that he was bad by any means last year but there were stretches of the Year where you’re like yeah he reminded you okay he is a 19-year-old kid playing in the NHL for the very first time um so I think those are your two I I wouldn’t necessarily think like you know Frank nasar fits that bill cuz we haven’t really seen him yeah we don’t know if he’s gonna make Kev was here for three full seasons before he had that breakout year so so to me uh it’s you know it’s those two guys reel and K uh kinsky are the two guys that are your top candidates and you probably the organization and the fan base hopes that both of those guys have huge years those are my top two uh when Stephen said which player should I use for the thumbnail those are the two I said uh because that’s a headline of today’s show I also if we’re going to go with a bit of a Dark Horse here I’m going to say Colton doc he’s been he’s bited his time in in the miners he has been patient his development or injuries have certainly been uh a factor that have maybe held him back a little bit but I think if Colton doc comes out has a camp like he had last year could make the team out of Camp when you look at some of the spots that are open some of the guys that have not been resigned yet um I think that I think that he could be a candidate if I’m looking at a guy to start the season here from Rockford who wasn’t here last year I think it could be Colton Dock and I’m hoping so because boy does he check a lot of boxes for what this team needs when you talk about you know big forwards versatile guys that with some scoring touch some physicality a little bit of Swag a little bit of confidence to his game yeah I would really like to see uh Colton doc make the team stay healthy and contribute this year that’s the biggest key um is him staying healthy he’s dealt with some concussions he’s dealt with some shoulder injuries like his style of play has led him to lot of these injuries and maybe they can get him to once he’s here with the NHL staff maybe they can reel that in a little bit be a little more selective on when you do it you don’t need to do that every shift in the AHL it’s a different style it’s a much more physical game in the AHL than it is in the NHL so maybe he can uh um you know reel that in a little bit and get a little more selective with that physic stay healthy I’d like to see that I got a question for you guys Anthony Tony our chat brings up Frank Nar is the expectation he’ll open the season with the Hawks next year I think he’s going to be the one that makes that decision if he if he’s one of the best 13 forwards leaving training camp he’ll be there if he’s struggling I wouldn’t be surprised if he plays the first month or two in Rockford but I think he’s going to dictate what the with the Hawks do they could also he’s in a position too where he can make the team out of camp and then if a week or a month go by and it starts to catch up with them a little bit they can send it back down without any concern so I think if I was to handicapp it I think it’s nar’s job to lose out of Camp he has to show them he doesn’t belong with the preseason he has and whatever handful of games he gets to start um but if like Greg said if he does struggle early or show some signs in preseason of maybe not being ready they’re not going to rush him so but I mean look he came out and played a couple games last year and never looked out of place I mean he was a Difference Maker right away and it’s one thing to be in there and be like oh he flashed now and again no nzar was one of the better players on the ice for the Hawks when he played those games for them so um I think that maybe that caught them off guard a little bit obviously a tiny sample size but uh like I said I think it’s his job to lose at this point um because they don’t really have an obvious top six guy that’s really holding him back I mean you hope reel becomes that guy we were talking about this yesterday Greg me and Joe brand if Lucas reel can’t play in this team’s top six he’s playing somewhere else I don’t know where he’s playing yeah so um there’s going to be a lot of competition this camp and it’s a good thing and it’s competition for guys that matter MH um so yeah I I don’t know if Nar would qualify as a breakout candidate because I think if he’s in the NHL he’s expected to be pretty decent yeah yeah I mean to me when he with the question was you know he said a comparison to Kev so I’m looking more at somebody who’s been here for a year guy that’s going be a rookie right all right next one all right since we were talking about already uh from Andrew NE what backup goalie would you like the Hawks to have next season um I’m not I don’t I don’t give a no I mean I do want an improvement over Arvid solder Bloom but if it’s Arvid Soder Bloom it’s not the end of the world there are some guys out there who still have some you know potential to them guys like Alex nokovich uh guys like Capel cochan uh who was with the sharks for most of the last year he was a guy that I kind of want was hoping the Blackhawks were going to get from Minnesota in the Mark Andre flurry trade a couple years ago um but I don’t think it’s the most pressing need I mean so many people are like you gotta have a better backup eventually yes but and it’s I mean sbone could be better too yeah I mean he had a decent year the year before and we all expected oh it was just going into the season like oh well at some point you know serum’s gonna gonna uh LeapFrog morzac and be the starter we just talked about that as if it was a given that wasn’t based on nothing right he had given us some evidence of being decent so yeah I mean it’s uh I mean it was a bad season I would like to at least have him come into camp and see see you know what he looks like you know he’s a guy that put in a ton of work last year every day at practice was on the ice early with uh Jimmy weight and putting the work in and there was some improvement there when they kind of realized we can’t do the every other start thing anymore and morzak was given the reins and Soder Bloom went like two weeks without a start those first couple games back and towards the you saw Improvement and that’s all you wanted to see so I I you know I would like to get somebody I’d like to get an upgrade there but if it’s just not available you know you probably just have to deal with another year of it because I don’t want to bring up I don’t want to bring up Drew kzo no yet this point let him get the bulas starts and Rockford there’s no need to rush right and and you know Alex brings up a name I I like how about Alex stolar or Anthony stolar is from Florida if he’s out there sure I mean 27 I know again granted this is with the Panthers 27 starts 2.02 goals against 925 save percentage he’s 30 so I don’t think he’s going to cash out he hasn’t done enough in his career to cash out but he played well enough in Florida to where some team might think he’s good enough to be a starter and why would the Hawks as we talk about need to spend 11 million to get to the cap floor say hey here’s 2 and half million to come be Peter moric backup and with the certain opportunity to come and take that job from him morzac is going to get hurt I know it didn’t happen last year no one expected it to not happen last year they got lucky he stayed healthy the whole time just like we talked about yesterday with Joe brand you can’t count on Peter mz’s Health just like you can’t count on Taylor Hall’s Health right at some point you’re considered injury prone for reason so I like the idea of Anthony Stars give him a little bit more than he’ll probably get anywhere else see if he can do anything close to what he did in Florida here and maybe you find yourself another like legitimate bridge to keso for two years three years and then you’re you’re feeling good about things yeah I mean you could do that there’s still some veterans out there I think every former blackhaw goalie in the last decade is out there uh you can bring back Kevin lankinen you can bring back if you want to but that’s two injury pre-own go tenders there’s only one guy bring it back and then there’s you know then you’re in the situation you were in two years ago when you had Dylan was it Dylan Wells starting for you and Jackson stalber had the start like you were on your seventh String Goalie because everybody was hurt you don’t want that situation because you don’t necessarily want to but um you definitely don’t want to put Drew kzo in that situation this early maybe he can handle it maybe if you get injuries you can bring him up up and he could start four five games in February and March and be okay but I’m not totally opposed to that anymore like if there’s an injury call up kzo and let him play in the NHL I’m fine with that I just don’t think he’s a part of your NHL plan for this year he shouldn’t be not after just one pro year so you know there’s options out there if they want to make a uh you know an improvement over over solder Bloom there’s plenty of options out there none of it’s going to cost you a ton of money exactly want to do one more before the break let’s do it this one from Michael Evans I saw in the chat today with the cap going up four and a half million are you guys okay with maybe overpaying one of the free agents now or does it still not sit well with you it’s not about the money it’s about the term it’s I’ve never I the Hawks are going to have to overpay any free agent they want to bring in right now yep I don’t want to overpay a guy for eight years seven years I have no problem overpaying a guy for three to four years I don’t want Jake gensel on a seven-year deal that just doesn’t make sense right now if Jake gentel want you want to overpay him by $2 million to play here for three years do it yeah do it at right like immediately I’m fine with that it’s it’s the length of the contract not the salary of the contracts that bother me uh Anthony in the chat says overpay St Coast for years I I don’t think he’s going St Co is leaving Tampa he’s leaving there to win he’s going somewhere where he can win and I I think if Sam Coast does leave the lightning you’re going to see him go to like Boston for like a million I don’t think he’s gonna come to Chicago for two years no I but I think if we’re talking about Jake gensel and Jake enel’s on the market and he’s getting offers for eight say cool we’ll pay you 10 and you come play here for four years or three years yeah I mean four years is that’s pushing it it is pushing it a little bit but I just I don’t think um you know those guys are going to want to necessarily come here for that short term because the short term doesn’t look great but if you’re giving him they’re going to go 20% more money than anybody else I’m sure if a team just taking the words on other people yep skating can be uh funky skating can be coached and can improve um you know McKenzie an whistle is a guy that the first time I saw him in Rockford was like we thought this guy was going to be there now he might we got to go uh if Michael ha is going to be there at 18 that’s the guy I want the Hawks get big centerman uh he’s he feels a need so um it’s it’s it’s tough to tell I know that sounds like a cop out but this year’s draft is so unpredictable because you don’t have that like Elite seven or eight nine players like we had last year was a little easier to predict who’s going to be there last year I mean you could pretty much predict one through three last year with two and three being flipped and you also knew like who three through eight were going to be when you when you had guys like Will Smith and those types out there you don’t know who number Mitch you knew mitchoff was going somewhere in the top eight you just didn’t know where we’re now you know somebody could be 17 on somebody’s you know draft expert board and he gets picked ninth and vice versa so over yeah it’s going to be it’s going to be a crazy uh you know um draft but uh you know there’s some there’s some names out there EK is another name that’s out there at 18 if he’s there again if you go forward with the second pick I Look To Go defenseman or I Look To Go defenseman 18 if you pick two defenseman fine if you pick two forwards fine just get the best just get two really good players uh Cory promin and Scott wheeler did their mock a couple probably a week or two ago uh 15 is conell helenius to Detroit 16 is Adam Urich something in the universe 17 is Michael Bren seg nard great name 18 at the time belonged to the Islanders so it was jet luchenko them yeah I love that I love that do we think that there may be somebody that Kyle Davidson was already targeting to move up a couple spots just to have a slightly better chance of getting that player he said no not really he just thought it was a value pick to where where you give up you know you get a chance to move up two picks to get a better player ideally um then and you give up one of your second round picks you know and you also move up in the second round too right so now you got four P it allowed you to get four picks in the top 50 um so I don’t think he’s looking quality over quantity I I yeah I that’s what it is and I and I don’t think like with the uncertainty like guess one thing if you moved up from 7 to 5 cuz then there’s more certainty who’s going to be there at 5 but the go from 20 to 18 it’s still a lot of uncertainty there but you have a better shot at getting a guy that you were targeting that may not be there 20 but could be there at 18 like an EJ emry yeah because that mock draft has them going 19 to Vegas so love it you jumped over them to possibly get him and I’m in all right Jay I already got your thoughts on this but Greg I want yours this one of free agents and that would qualify as an elite free agent I don’t think he’s an A+ free agent he’s not a dry settle Marner Ranon and but he’s in that little he’s not a Cornerstone he’s like he’s the Martin havl to the Maran HOSA yeah he’s a really nice player who got to the benefit of playing with Sydney Crosby for the last few years and I’m not saying that’s the only reason his numbers were so good but it it didn’t hurt um so he’s going to get a good contract this year so but I mean there are difference makers out there like like as I said any combination of Max doy Jack rosic Jake debrusk and uh Dakota Joshua those four guys you give me two of those four guys love Dakota Joshua and you add it to a team that has Taylor Hall coming back that has anthon suu hopefully now granted we can’t depend on those guys for a full season but then you have second year of badar second year at kinsky you’ve got Frank Nar you’ve got all these other young players that’s a much better team much better team than last year cuz you’re not you’re not playing Colin Blackwell you’re not playing Taylor re Johnson and Jacob and jar Tori those guys are gone and you’re replacing them with better players is that a playoff team probably not is that a 52-point team no way correct all right this one from Landon the shyan 98 given the importance of a top right-handed defenseman I’m starting to think levanov is the right choice for number two it seems like Kyle’s leaning more towards taking a top d man instead of demidov thoughts I’ve been MIA for a while glad to be back I I’ll say this I don’t think we can we have no idea which way they’re leaning I don’t know if they know which way they’re leaning I think a lot of people have seen the thing we played it yesterday love shov was kind of joking that the Hawks have taken him out to dinner and they’ve this has happened a few times and a lot of people saying well he must be the pick well demidov isn’t exactly available for these things right and I think they’re just doing their due diligence with and they’re they’re talking to Le shof while they’re seeing Sam ronzel and alamore Minnesota while they’re seeing slagger at Notre Dame and nasar Michigan he’s in the same as a of their top prospects it was very easy oh by the way we’re going to to him too while we’re here and that said if you missed yesterday’s show and if you did shame on you you owe us a festar review and IT smash the like button um there has been a little bit of stuff about demidov lately where there is some fear that he might sign again in Russia a new contract in Russia and you wouldn’t know unless you have you know a verbal agreement with him before before you draft them maybe you get it at this little Dan milstein show they’re putting on the week before the draft and saying hey if you draft me I’m going to sign as soon as my contract’s up but if you don’t get those assurances he’s under contract for a year at any point there he can sign a new contract in Russia and that screws up everything because Bard is here I think the Hawks want a little more certainty on a timeline and even if it’s not a guy who’s going to come immediately to the NHL or even next season to the NHL they want to know let’s say it’s Kaden Lindstrom or Aram lunov whoever it might be they say all right we know at least in two or three years this guy will be here and will have control of it and I think there is a little bit of fear and not just from the Hawks about the demidov Russian Factor so we’ll see it could be smoking mirrors it could be one team trying to poison the waters because they want demov to fall to them right like as cam even said and cam Robinson our pal said in his tweets like talking to GMS and he’s like not going to tell you which ones like I really don’t don’t care what the GM of the team picking 29th right feels it’s like it could be some smoke a mirrors there’s some gamesmanship played this time of year there could be a team at four going oh no we wouldn’t draft him at all and then the second he’s there they grab him you know yeah we got our guy yeah so well it’s working on me take all those things um take all those things I still think demod is the best player available at number two and if you’re confident that you don’t have to worry about uh you know him coming over after next season then make the pick if you’re worried if he won’t commit verbally if you’re uncomfortable then do uh Le shof or Lindstrom all of a sudden now that the the uh combine is come and gone the the bad back doesn’t seem to be a problem to people anymore I’m always a little hesitant about big guys with bad backs uh but we’ll see uh and speaking of will have Adam kimman of nhl.com who was at the combine all last week uh on the show Friday so he could tell us all about what he saw at the combine and give us his feedback on the upcoming draft can’t wait for that and change the logo says even if he’s three years out he could jump in like cof did that timeline wouldn’t worry me what worries me is the uncertainty of the timeline or the availability two three four years is fine four years is too many two three years is fine but they have to know it’s going to happen like with love with demidov if they don’t if they think he might sign a three-year deal in Russia sorry maybe in three years he’s come comes over and is a 50 goal scorer but I’m not taking that risk I have to know he’s coming right at number two you need more of a sure thing that somebody you have control over as quickly as possible and D Paris says most of the negative demidov rumors are Habs fans trying to manifest his availability to them that’s not of the question that’s not wrong yep yep all right this one from Aiden I know we have considered ceiling but what are the floors for demov linov and even lindström assuming health is fine shouldn’t that play a role in decision if it’s one you cannot miss on demov may have the highest ceiling but also may have the lowest floor that’s kind of what we were talking about and I think if you’re going floor ceiling that’s I think that’s correct I think the highest floor is demidov I think the no the highest ceiling is demidov the low whatever okay demov has the could if of the three could be the like a legitimate awesome amazing like 50 goal scorer I think Le shov is a guy who you know you’re going to take him and even if he’s not the second coming of Duncan Keith or whoever it might be you know you’re going to have a good defenseman for a long time I think lunov has the highest floor where thank you worst case worst case scenario you have a second pairing defenseman for a long time it’s really good yeah I mean you don’t necessarily you kind of want more out of the number two overall pick but I think he has the lowest bust factor of the three like he’s the one I worry about the least as far as not being anything yeah where demod I feel has the big the best chance to be the best player out of three but you know well a guy like demod with his style of play he’s either top six or nothing he’s not a bottom six guy he’s not going to be a grinder guy so he’s either going to be a star or he’s not going to be in the league that I mean that’s kind of the thing and young dangle God says he’s been touted as the next coer of how are we even debating not taking this guy because of the unknown if his name again I always like to go to you know gordi truck from Toronto if that’s his name and you and he’s been in the Western Hockey League for years doing the same thing like of course he’s maybe the number one pick but you just don’t know and especially look we can go back in history and say well look at all these Russian guys who people were worried about that came over it was a different world landscape then like Russia can’t compete in international play they can’t compete in the Olympics like it’s it’s it’s a very different thing you also have if you want to say I’m joking or not like the threat of World War III at any moment with Russia in the middle of it things are different than they were then in terms of international relations so it’s hard to go back and look at malcin and oetkin and those highend Russians that did come here with very little problem it’s not the same it’s not the same right now so I don’t know it’s it’s it’s scary but like I said all along if the Hawks take demidov I’m fine with it because I assume that they have done all the due diligence they need to do and I’ll say the same thing about Kaden ledstrom or Le shov right like people are saying like bad backs don’t heal there’s a difference though between a chronic bad back and a back injury right right like sometimes you just get you hurt your back and your back recovers yeah 18 years old it’s a back injury it’s not a chronic bad back until you’re 25 and you you’re having that same problem every year um you know at 18 years old backs bounce back quicker right um but it’s it’s a concern but there’s concerns about all these players that’s why not every first round pick plays in the NHL but what half of them don’t yeah there’s a reason there’s concerns about all these guys so it’s not a sure thing but it’s I mean you any of those three guys I think you got yourself a real nice NHL contributor for the next 10 years minimum have an update uh no broken bones in uh my daughter’s foot that’s good but she’s in a boot sometimes those sprains can take longer to heal than broken bones oh they hurt more I’ve done both and a sprain is way more painful she’s a teenager she’ll heal up a lot quicker than you or I would if she also loves medical stuff and she’s going to love the attention of having a walking boot all right but her softball season’s probably over which is sad at least you got to play the All-Star Game all right let’s keep going we got a couple more here this one from Tom Quinn who do you realistically think will be Gary Batman successor when he retires and when do you think he retires will have to be someone who the owners like since they’ll be their boss well yes it’s going to be another boot licker for the owners cuz that’s who the outdoor games will be his legacy expansion this team this league like doubled in size almost since he took over he makes the owners more money than they ever have that’s why they like him but he doesn’t necessarily do that by doing what’s best for the game what’s best for the fans what’s best for the players so let’s get somebody in here that can can when they say grow the game actually grows the game look we talk about it all the time we are in a golden era of hockey you have some of the best players in the history of the game playing right now you’ve got Conor McDavid who is a Mount Rushmore player already you’ve got Austin Matthews who is already the best player in Toronto Maple Leaf’s history fight me I’m not wrong you’ve got Conor Bard and entering his second year you’ve got marar in Colorado Nathan McKinnon in Colorado you’ve got star upon star upon star in this game is hardly a blip on the radar of most Americans and to me like yeah expansion’s great and all that what is the health of the sport I’m I don’t know I don’t know what the answer is I would wonder if somebody like you know like Joe sack I don’t know a guy who’s played a guy who’s done the front officing a guy who kind of understands all elements of you know or maybe someone who is up player rep a player rep in the past or I don’t know I don’t know what it is it’s just uh it should be better and the health of the league is as good as it’s ever been but it can be and should like the NHL is happy with good when it can and should be great that sounds Jerry bman is the example of the person who stays in a job for too long because it’s safe and they know they can have the job forever and they could probably make a lot more money and they’re probably worth a lot more than they’re being paid but the safety is what they like like am I speaking from experience perhaps a little bit but it could be better and I don’t think the NHL should be afraid to take a risk and try I mean the Adam Silver hire from what I understand the NBA was kind of a riskier like didn’t really know it wasn’t kind of the typical kind of a hire and it’s worked out really well for the leue has thrived they’ve done more creative things they’re letting players be themselves they’re doing a lot of things that has worked yep um and the NHL should should look into something like that as well all right let’s do one more
