what happened with the uh League investigation of the Falcons that caused them to as they say dock them a fifth round selection I believe in next year’s draft and find the general manager Terry font 50 grand for tampering is that officially the what they’re calling it with their yeah what do we yeah so yeah so I I I this has sort of been a big process and I I think you know part of the issue here and I I feel like I can speak a little bit more freely about this now is there are situations in the NFL I’m just talking broad Strokes here right there are situations in the NFL where everyone agrees that it would be good for things to go one way right and for certain things to happen at a certain speed and I do think like for everyone involved in the Kirk Cousins situation through those weeks in March there was an agreement that the best thing for everybody whether it was Kirk’s Camp whether it was the Falcons whether it was the Vikings whether it was anybody else Denver whoever thought about dipping their toe in those Waters the best thing for everybody in that in in that circumstance was for kurk cousins to agree to terms as close to noon on that Monday as possible and so sometimes when there’s an agreement that that’s the best thing there’s some looking the other way that goes on right and the league does have to come down on that stuff but this feels like one of those situations to me where there was a lot of I think people in all spots there agreed that the best thing for the Falcons the best thing for the Vikings the best thing thing for every team involved was for Kirk to make a decision quickly so everybody could move on and because it did happen quickly it helped the Vikings pivot and go get Sam darnold it affected the way the Falcons were planning going forward from there as well um it helped everybody it helped Kirk right like it helped Kirk so um you know I do think that this is one of those scenarios where this is a little bit of a victimless crime and this stuff happens more than people know and I don’t know that the league really wanted to open some Pandora’s Box where it’s like okay you know now we’re coming down really hard on this and now are we going to be chasing a half dozen cut cases you know like it every single year so they just ticketed him for going jaywalking yeah is it JW right tamper walking or something like that because because every because why because cousins basically decided I I don’t want to go here anymore I feel like this is this is simply because of the pr part of it because it got out there right and because some of the things there were some people that slept and because some people slipped and said some things it just like I I think that’s why is like because it’s out there and I I think this almost feels to me like the league saying you know what we have to do something all right guys like let’s figure out something we will we will we will handle it the way we need to handle it we know that these things happen sometimes we just we can’t everybody knows where the line is and everybody knows like that you can you know take a couple steps over that line just don’t dance over it just don’t spit on the line you know what I mean like so like that’s what it feels like a little bit to me where this is Jay walking but it’s just a a reminder to everybody just don’t be blatant about it when you do it but we understand that these things happen sometimes and in a lot of cases they’re victimless crimes that benefit the parties involved so what was it they reached out to him too soon is that what it was they yeah I mean it was just it was the communication part of it yes is is is what was an issue here and I mean look like I I I do think again like the to me um you know like the Vikings I guess if you want to you know put this in the the the the terms of a court of law the Vikings would be the plaintiff right um I think the pl the plaintive like I I I I don’t think that this was like something that they were fervently like yes I want charges pressed here you know what I mean like now maybe there were some people in building that felt that way but I know a lot of people didn’t you know like I I I just I don’t think this this was that big a deal to the Vikings which is probably a pretty big part of the League’s decision- making here too um and you know again like I I think you look at the end result the end result is that like the Vikings wind up you know being able to move very quickly on another quarterback because the Kirk thing got done fast and the Kirk thing doesn’t get done that F I mean no one’s under the illusion that the Kirk deal or any of these other deals that get reported at like 1222 or 1234 or whatever else on that Monday no one’s under the illusion that everybody just snapped their fingers and made those deals come to life well I mean there is a a a window if you will that is now legal in which to talk to somebody and I guess what what you’re saying essentially is that the fact that cousins left Minnesota isn’t because the Falcons reached out too soon it’s just that cousins was gone based on the knowledge of their conversations with him and that was the end of it unless there’s people in the building that think otherwi I think it was I think it was it was down the line right like I don’t think I don’t think anything was done no um but like I think I think everybody I I would say I would say like I think everybody had a good idea of what the landscape was right um and I think the Falcons were able to push it over the goal line afternoon on that Monday but like again like I I mean look when I was young covering the league you probably remember this combine um You Know Rich like like you remember like how like the combine used to be right before free agency right remember like it was like it was like the combine like ended on like Wednesday and then like Friday at midnight the free agency started um I remember like like there was this one Steakhouse I think it was like I can’t remember if it was like it was it was not prime or one of those S Elmos but it was like it was Rose Chris it was somewhere like relatively out in the open yeah like Dan Snider was out to dinner with like you know Albert hanworth Albert haworth’s agent you know what I mean like everyone saw it and it’s just like all right like and then he gets and then it gets done like in the we hours of that Friday morning it’s I mean we all know what happened so uh last one on this one uh I guess you have to remember that right oh sure I mean come on man um and especially especially since the the combine I mean everybody everybody just goes out and about um so I guess if they they they lost the draft choice in 2025 uh it’s a good thing they got their quarterback to the Future already huh Albert yeah that the hope of getting Tom Brady in the fifth round in 2025 is now gone for the Falcons so good thing they took Michael penic uh e overall I couldn’t I couldn’t end that conversation without taking one last gratuitous shot catch the rich eyes and show every single day on the Roku Channel 12 to3 Eastern for free

  1. 😂
Where all my Vikings haters at? Trying to steal our 1st round pick this year with Florio leading the way. Wow!

  2. Don't dance or spit on the line?

The Falcons had players texting kirk, their head medical man was actively talking to him.
Falcons owner threw a ton of money at kirk. And kirk blabbed about it.

This whole thing reeks of hypocrisy. The nfl has rules, they just don't want to enforce it. Imagine if it was your qb fans. How pissed would you be if he was lured away in such a manner. This is a fucking joke

  3. Whoa travel arrangements?! It's ANARCHY! Teams can just make travel arrangements with pending free agents willy nilly now! Where are my pearls, I must clutch them!
People losing their minds can't read I guess. ATL got caught making travel arrangements with Cousins, not negotiating a contract, not getting checked by the ATL medical staff, f*cking travel arrangements. Oh the humanity!
No I'm not a Falcons fan, don't give a crap about them and even less about MN.

  4. With the slap on the wrist that Atlanta did, only opens the door for every team in league to do this. If it cost a 5th round pick and $300k in fines just sets a presadance.

  5. Jesus if they are only going to slap them on the wrist dont have the rule. You cant play this game where its really not a big deal because we dont feel like it is. This is because who was on that committee. Get rid of the rule of you wont really enforce it. Different rules for different teams is the message that was sent.

  6. Mike Florio wanted to press charges 🤣🤣🤣… he’s crying like his wife cheated on him or something🤦🏽‍♂

  7. Reminder: Cousins was caught posting pictures of them packing weeks before free agency opened. Tampering in any case, ("victimless" or not) is against the rules. If the league won't apply discipline equally, then they should just get rid of the rule.

  8. Sooooo Miami gets slammed but Atlanta gets a slap on the wrist, and the QB they tamper with? Goodell is such a chump.

  9. Folks is really out here crying about the Falcons only getting a slap on the wrist…..the man just told you every team is doing it. The Falcons just told on themselves.

Get over it cry 👶🏿 😂

  10. I really didn't think that Atlanta would get blasted by the league on this one. Sure, Cousins opened his pie hole about meeting team personnel before he was supposed to, but the penalty was what i thought it would be. Interestingly enough, the Minnesota Vikings never really pursued this. As far as anyone can figure, they never filled any formal claim to league offices concerning tampering allegations. In other words, they didn't want Cousins back.

  11. I think this only becomes bad when teams are luring a player away from another team. In this case Kirk had already agreed he wasn’t staying with the Vikings. The Falcons just were in a rush to beat out any other potential competitors.

  12. lol. The NFL statement was “This includes discussion of travel arrangements or other logistical matters, which the club acknowledges took place…” it’s obvious there was already talk of a contract/offer. Why else reach out about travel and logistics.

  13. How can you you sit there and not ask the easy question that this was blatant tampering and the penalty was a easy slap on the wrist .I am So disheartened in the NFL to tell people not to waste your hard earned money #***

  14. Hey all you Vikings fans who thought you were entitled to a 1st rounder, hahahahahahahahahah. What a bunch of 🤡

  15. “Some ppl slipped & said some things…jaywalking…” as usual these guys are experts at saying nothing. It’s like THEY don’t understand the issues well enough to discuss intelligently so they cover for it by throwing out some buzz words from something they read. How does this fit into the legal tampering period? WHEN did it happen? WHAT is the rule & how was it violated? Now let’s talk about a steakhouse from 15 years ago.
