This video will show some simple ways to gain speed that I use daily with my students and it does work. Especially senior golfers that are not get the most out of their current swing.

get that aerobic engine going then use these practice swings go to arrange with it you’ve built up all that stamina all that speed start pounding the ball I’m going back a little slower so I can really rev up and accelerate into that timing point so I want to speed up to that third click swing speed we can never get enough of it as we age it seems like our swing speeds go down we lose our flexibility or Mobility we’re always trying to find ways of getting it back hi I’m Izzy welcome to my channel today’s episode is all about the Aging golfer trying to get some speed back how we go about it I have a couple of tips a couple of training AIDs that I do believe will help you hopefully tap into getting some swing speed back so you can hit the ball farther that’s all in today’s episode here on rhythmic golf power comes from how fast you can rotate your body okay that’s a given everybody teaches that it’s true so where where does your power come from well it comes from the ground up it starts from as you wind up you wind up your energy but your leg kicks forward you’re trying to unwind your hips and then they unwind your shoulders that’s where your power source comes from the the horsepower of your swing and then it’s supposed to roll out out of your arms down the shaft to the club head to the ball that’s the chain of events the sequence of events of a golf swing the faster you could do those movements the more powerful your swing will be as we age we tighten up and we Factor sometimes control over distance we say why can’t I hit it farther well you can hit it farther and we’re going tap into that but people feel like they are going to be wild they’re going to lose control of the swing at the beginning you probably will lose control of the Swing but that’s okay so with a lot of people that have gotten older their swings have gotten shorter and I notice a lot I teach a lot of people over the age of 50 I’m 59 I can still get my club head speed about 105 mil an hour which I’ve had for the past 20 years so I found ways of keeping it up there um it takes a little bit of effort seems like I slow down a little bit every year but hey I find ways of getting it back and it just takes a little bit of understanding and effort and you’ll get your swing speed back I hope to get you 5 miles an hour more maybe 10 depending on how much you’ve been short changing yourself with your golf swing what do I mean by that I mean by not bringing the club back as far as you can a lot of people are uncomfortable bringing the club back that far well the bigger the wind up the more power you’re going to have in your move so for $10 you can get this weighted doughnut that I highly recommend you always have I use it to loosen up my body and to open up the golf swing muscles so I swing this as often as I can it loosens me up and and with this alone I tap into the golf swing muscles it also I use this Aid to help people feel the positions of their back swing so one thing let’s go right to it a power source that will give you some power is your ability to your wrists this is a major issue that people as we age we stop doing it’s free Power kind of thing but you want to be able to snap your wrists as much as you can it’s where the power outputs out of your driving swing so your wrist as much as you can don’t worry about being accurate at the beginning and get this thing going and rip it as much as you can and the weight alone stretches you you feel a lot better doing it after you do a few of those you’ll feel that you have way more power in your swing you can move a lot faster let’s see if I can hit one reasonably straight all right that’s was a great hit my Club felt so light so you can get this on Amazon you can get it at any any golf store it’s the best 10 bucks you’ll ever spend I should be promoting the company my favorite Power developing training aid is the power fan it’s like using resistance bands for your golf swing you don’t hurt yourself doing it but what this really does is it all of a sudden fires in the muscles that drive your swing which is all your core rotation all those muscles start firing up buy one of these it’s 120 bucks if you could build up your stamina do 10 sets of 10 do five sets of 10 start off with doing one set of 10 a lot of people hate using this cuz it ties you out tells you where you’re at with the aerobic engine of your golf swing so you take this Aid you bring it up swing it through and force that move all the way to the end try to go as fast as you can all the way to the end of your swing and you’ll build up your golf swing muscles I truly believe using these two simple AIDS will help you build up your swing speed do a lot of reps go as fast as you can find out what you can control what you can balance do a bunch of swings put down a golf ball take a swing you’ll notice you’ll have just way more swing it opens up all those muscles it’s the best investment you could possibly make you can get that power fan on Amazon as well okay let’s see if I can hit another good one feeling opened up feel like I got a lot of power and I do here I am at my home I do have a little hitting area here I’m fortunate to have some space to do this so here’s some suggestions for you to do if you don’t have any training AIDS let’s get ourselves going what do we need to do one thing your homework get used to turning back and forth as quickly as you can without turning your head if you turn your head you’re going to get dizzy so as much as you can as fast as you can get your engine revving do this forever see if you could do this for a couple of minutes and time it you get tired it’s actually tiring works you out okay it’s your main engine say we don’t have this flexibility we’re getting a little older we don’t stretch as much we try our best but the facts are the facts we stiffen up okay let’s get used to stretching your arms stretch them this is stuff you don’t need to do out of range just get used to stretching your arms stretch them over your shoulders okay in the shape of a golf swing you turn back you raise your arm arms don’t try to be perfect just try to stretch when you’re trying to stretch try to do it without raising your body actually let your body go down and raise your arms up higher okay going through try to make your swing as big as you can make it it’ll help you increase some swing speed and better strike on the ball one of the big things is that I’m going to get at right now is snapping your wrists okay one thing that I see with a lot of seniors and stuff is they don’t use the wrists so what can you do at home I suggest you just get used to conditioning and just get used to snapping your wrists back and forth as much as you can until you really built up some speed and go at it it’s kind of hard to generate that speed from a static position but it’ll exercise the action that that snap where the release comes out of your body check when you take your back swing do you use your wrists all the way do you use as much as you can bring them up set them swing follow through hey everyone’s got a cell phone now videotape your swing don’t videotape one shot videotape five do five swings look at your five swings see if you’ve made a adjustments take mental notes then do another five take a look see if you’ve made adjustments again this is reviewing yourself you know what you’re looking for what you see may not be what you feel and that’s how you can correct yourself if you happen to have a backyard practice net just take swings and just snap your wrists and get them going okay let’s say I’m a golfer that can only bring my club up this high you’re tight you got this you got that whatever it may be most people could still use their wrists so only bring it that high and learn to snap them let’s say you could follow them follow through bring them up to that same point and follow it through can you do that can your body physically do that if it can then you should be doing that lots of wrists go as fast as you can especially in your backyard you know or if you’re hitting into a wall or something you want to get some swing speed you got to start swinging fast don’t worry if you fall out of balance you’ll learn to balance it another part of your homework challenge yourself do 10 sets of 10 practice swings one go as fast as you can two 3 4 five six seven eight nine can you keep up the same speed 10 in a row yeah it’ll take the wind out you no doubt about it okay so I did 10 in a row for you how many sets can you do work your way up get up to 100 practice swings if you can in 10 sets of 10 takes about 14 minutes I’m not going to do 100 practice swings for you but that’s what it will take get that aerobic engine going then use these practice swings go to arrange with it you’ve built up all that stamina all that speed start pounding the ball so you got all this speed built up you’re revving things are out of order hey let’s put on the metronome to synchronize it all together have this at 109 beats per minute felt good working on my speed I’m going back a little slower so I can really rev up and accelerate into that timing point so I want to speed up to that third click then let’s say I want to push the boundaries it’s at 20 beats per minute seems pretty good to me give it another go I like it I usually go around 110 but hey I’m looking for some more speed maybe I need a little bit of a faster Tempo to just give me that little bit of increased acceleration rate yeah I like it these are a couple of simple ways that the Aging golfer can get some swing Wing speed back and maintain it for a long period of time I’m Izzy I hope you enjoyed this video see you again soon [Music]
