some of pro bowling’s biggest stars like Jason Belmonte and West mot are here for the final regular season stop of the PBA Elite League All Eyes On team bowling [Music] [Applause] next we welcome you inside historic AMF Riviera Lanes here in Fair Ohio just outside a tomorrow this facility will host the fifth major of the season the TOC live on foxka today we conclude the regular season of the PBA Elite League two matchups on top we begin at the top with the number one seed Las Vegas side meeting homeside Haan then Portland they look to lock up second place as they meet Jason Bel Mon and LAX so glad you’re with us today Rob Stone the Hall of Famer Randy Peterson the queen Kimberly prestler will join us in a moment we know the PBA Elite League playoffs will begin in September in Portland Maine we know the six teams that will be there what we don’t know is the order but that will be confirmed today as we take a look at your live standings right now Vegas locked and loaded in that one spot Portland they could become the two- seed and earn a very valuable buy with the win akan also in the mix of second but they are in a must-win situation today we talked with akan manager Mark Baker first time he’s been in town since 1990 more on that in a little bit moment and you asked him Mark what’s been working for your team this season yeah he said he told us that hey finally our team is jailed right and with co- Captain co-manager Chris V in the mix and then you’ve got your buddy Tom dhy who’s done some micromanaging the thing that’s really interesting about this team Rob is that every one of their players has been in the anchor position which tells me the team is very versatile and if there’s one thing I know about manager Mark Baker he’s going to get 110% out of each and every one of his players talk now about the team that they face the team that is sitting a top of the standings and will not budge from number one Las Vegas yeah they’ve been dominant right and throughout the league they’ve only had three losses here’s Aj Johnson he’s done very nicely for the Las Vegas High Roller uh Las Vegas high rollers Matt Ogle which we will see on the tournament of champion show tomorrow he’s been red hot for them as well and then of course Andrew Anderson uh normally we see him in the anchor position he’s been as solid as a rock oal the three seat at tomorrow’s to live on Fox let’s go behind us laneside Kimberly standing by with the two captains of our Opening match thanks Rob so Chris you’re from Ohio you went College 45 minutes from here this crowd obviously loves you guys so how do you get all of the advantage that you have practiced in this building for so long how do you take that and make it into an advantage for your team today yeah uh obviously feel super comfortable coming into this Bowling Center I’ve spent a lot of time here so uh hopefully I can give my uh teammates some good reads and uh mean you certain see the turnout here uh This Crowd uh hopefully we can put on a good show for him well let’s talk about this crowd because you guys are the hometown team how do you get them up on their feet and behind you guys uh throwing some strikes would be nice so uh but yeah we’re looking forward to putting on a good show and hopefully this crowd enjoys it all right well good luck to you Andrew you guys have bold so well all season’ secured the number one spot already heading into Portland so what do you hope to gain from today yeah we don’t want to come out of here with the loss we want to go to Portland with another win uh we’re the first team to 10 wins the only team to 10 wins um yeah we’re going to try to make it 11 today all right well how do you plan on beating these guys behind you yeah we’re going to need some momentum uh they are the hometown crowd we’re going to need to get some strikes going ourselves but uh we’ve done a good job of it all year we’re going to try to keep it going all right good luck yine Treads yeah or akan rubber meets the road I mean you’re going to move out of La you might as well change you know the name as well right I mean you’re going from LA to akan let’s get rid of Adam Splitters and go with something that makes sense right we already got a team in La you’re going to see them coming up later the cleverly named La X and not just the airport but La acts like a stri and where is silverlink it’s it’s like a it’s like one of those upand cominging neighborhoods right outside downtown see yeah and it makes no sense I know so we got to change the akan nickname next year I mean we’re happy to have them here I think it’s great team bowling is here in the wonderful city of akan you’re in fairon just outside of a probably the most iconic Center in the history of the sport are you asking me making a statement yeah yeah what would be seconds Woodland Indianapolis yeah third I mean Thunderbolts got so much history right age Thunder bol’s kind of sneaking up on me just we’re starting right now with the number one team in the league Las Vegas taking on akan take a look now at today’s Brunswick oil pattern it’s the Don Johnson 40 Randy yeah very tricky here on this Infamous pair 27 and 28 the players are using urethane and what that urethane is going to do is really create havoc in the front part of the lane and then drag oil down towards the pins so the question is whether or not is that how you draw Havoc just a circle in a mess like cat puke I I’ve never been really good with drawing but the point is is that how long can the player stay in that re that uh urethane before they go into reactive resin I think I saw one resin ball go down the lane and that was from Dick Allen and he struck Tom dhy as we begin the sixth Acron hey Mr 100 gets all remember what his opponent shot at him major ma with a two n ner Tom was a great sport on that show wasn’t he but if he comes in I’m out that was one of the most amazing matches I had ever witnessed yeah same year I went into the Hall of Fame I’ll never forget talking about that telecast major ma making a quarter of a million dollars what Tom did and we had a great night you were there I was very good night 40 two in a row I remember after going out and youing with my ex-wife not sure that had any to do with it but that was before she was X right yes yes very yes all right so dhy clutch move list is a mile long lately they’re on I look like a little kid bowling that just got out the shower I guess they don’t like this hair well I mean is that a bad thing that you look young no I guess it’s okay uh you know the clown of the PBA uh you know what is the worst thing that you have read about yourself on social media somebody once said I was a nice guy you are a nice guy probably winning Delaware saying like this guy’s a hack and doesn’t deserve this yeah it was pretty bad Matt what’s the worst thing that you have read about yourself online that I have big eyes when I was younger they used to hurt now I find them quite funny did you ever read anything and we like wait this is not true what ever maybe but most things are probably true that you read for every nasty thing that I read about myself I have you know a thousand really positive and and wonderful you know fans so thank you very much for following me and saying the nice things to the ones that say the nice things here’s the best strategy just don’t go online and read it just move on people say nice things it does happen in a small a small little part of the world nice things are said Jason B Monte the captain the manager the all everything for LAX and they’re about to take on the Portland Lumberjacks and Portland is kind of a mash unit right now that has a lot at stake in this upcoming Showdown yeah there’s a triage set up behind that team we’ve got several injuries to report about with the Lumberjacks Tom Smallwood he’s out with a hip injury uh Kyle Cho’s out with a shoulder injury uh the big nasty banged up so what does manager Tim Mack do he hits the waiver and he gets a hold of that guy right there Eric Jones Eric Jones was actually two hours down the road after the Tournament of Champions qualifying Timmy gets him on the phone and says hey I need you to turn around and come back I need you to bowl for The Lumberjacks what a pickup and what a splash this guy made uh last week at the world series of bowling I I I think it’s probably the steel of the draft yeah got him on the highway said pull over hang a U-turn I’m going to go through the proper channels to make sure here Jones rolled in about 2 and 1 half hours ago finally took practice with his new teammates and said if there was a team I wanted to be on it was this team the Portland Lumberjacks oh the strong just got stronger we’ll see how the kid works out for Portland again Portland with the win they go to second with a loss they drop all the way to fifth here’s a look at our Bowl TV highlights four teams wrapped up their PBA Elite League regular season in this facility Monday night the btown musle behind EJ tacket and Justin nolles they took care of the Dallas Strikers two to zero in the Waco wonders with MIT chupe in the Hall of Famer Tom Hess dropped the New Jersey kingpins 2 to1 Dallas Waco officially eliminated from playoff contention as we take a look at our live updated standings and guess who is now in SEC yes the akan atom Splitters Portland could usurp them and move up to number two with a win with a loss they will be down to number five let’s go down to Kimberly with two of our big stories thanks Rob so Eric when we talked pre-show you told me you have zero team bowling experience and you only just practiced with Portland for the first time two and a half hours ago so how are you meshing with the team uh luckily it’s a team pull of guys that I have a lot of admiration for and I’ve gotten to know pretty good so it’s a good circumstance for me I get a well or I get along with those guys pretty well how exciting is it that your first team bowling experience is with the three-time Champions the Portland Lumberjacks I mean I couldn’t paint a better picture like I growing up watching bowling team bowling I think of Portland Lumberjacks and I couldn’t be more excited to be bowling on that team we in Jersey have these last few weeks for you just been an absolute dream oh yeah it’s I bowled exactly how I want to be bowling out here and like couldn’t be any better except for winning good luck and go have some fun today Jason so you guys have actually secured your spot in Portland as the number six seed but you guys have a chance to disrupt Portland here getting that by week so how do you plan to do that yeah I think the first thing that we need to do is um you know to make better moves and to be better we’ve talked a lot about it in the last few weeks uh about some of these adjustments that we need to make and today is a day for us to put it into practice we don’t have a lot to play for I know Portland does but at the same time we want to make sure that we’re starting to get that team jelling thing happening and what improvements did you want to make a look it basically just comes down to consecutive good shots I feel like all season we just haven’t made consecutive good shots so it’s hard to bowl well when you have strike split strike spare strike split strike spare strike split so we’re going to stop doing that and uh it’s going to start today I hope and if it doesn’t it’ll start in Poland good luck to you guys today Kimberly thank you take a probably the best Amer bowler in the history of Amer bowling USBC Hall of Famer USBC had their Hall of Fame inductions this week as well a little bit a Hall of Fame that you and I will never be in the USBC Hall of Fame so we have that to look forward to hey which is nice they have the power to change that until then there is one Hall of Fame that exists in Bowling the PBA Hall of Fame fight me on
