that’s right it’s kind of the subtitle of the show isn’t it as long as you click five stars you could say whatever the hell you want yeah exactly all right let’s bring in Stephen Ellis he is the prospect analyst and Associate editor over at the daily face off and if you call yourself a hockey fan and you’re not following Stephen in the daily face off you’re doing it wrong it’s where all the big info comes from these days stepen thanks for taking some time out man we appreciate it yeah thanks guys for having me on well we’re going to start at as we have with pretty much every uh draft prospect analyst we’ve talked to the Blackhawks have the number two pick uh the big conversation the big controvert not controversy but the uh The Clash here is demidov versus lunov if you are Kyle Davidson picking second which way are you going for the Blackhawks you know early in the draft I’m always going best player available and I know the the argument for L shof going number two but I’m going Ivan de off number two I just could you imagine watching Bard and him putting up a ton of points like in the future like that’s going to be a lot of fun if that happens um you see what he did this year in the MHL and I know I’ve been asked like any concerns about him not playing the KHL this year no because if he was playing for Scott St Petersburg he would have played five minutes a night having him go out there and play in the MHL get all those Puck touches be the guy to lead the team like we don’t see guys dominate like he did there it’s actually one of the most productive Seasons we’ve ever seen in MHL history which includes beating up Nikita cucher off so U you don’t get guys coming in with this type of talent every year obviously Matt Fe mitchoff you know a lot of this kind of a similar style player last year but when it comes to demod off it’s to me I’m not thinking twice I know you uh cover a lot of the international game a lot of the different you know UA all that stuff it’s hard to say that because Russia hasn’t been allowed to play in any of those tournaments last couple years that it’s necessarily hurt demad off’s draft stock cuz here we are talking about him going number two but like how much does that like affect him that the fact he hasn’t gotten the play on that world stage like so many of these other top prospects have see I wouldn’t say even from like an International Tournament perspective it matters too much it’s more of the in-person scouting um options here because a lot of teams just don’t have Scouts in Russia ever since the The Invasion started so that makes it difficult but video scouting has never been better um with the programs that they have out there so you can get those looks and I I believe demod off is one of those Russian players that are coming over as part of that gold star uh event later this month for teams to kind of get a good up close look and seeing what he’s able to do there but when it comes to with him like yeah obviously you would have loved to see him play at the world juniors and in all those tournaments the u18s for sure things like that but we can’t so you got to go off a couple things here and you see the stats you see the videos you got to say okay that’s that’s pretty good and you know a lot of teams are talking to to agents and other people over there to get a good sense so it’s it’s a lot harder than he used to be on one front in terms of the inperson viewings but the fact is there’s more footage of him than you would have found of any Russian player 10 years ago five years ago even so I guess there’s that Advantage but I think if if people got to see him up close they would have seen like okay yeah I know this guy big sense is number two he’s so talented he’s underrated in my opinion wow that’s we were talking to um Brian Campbell who works in the front office with the Hawks now the other day and he mentioned like it is a little bit challenging to not be able to go see him play live but uh it’s interesting you call him underrated and you mentioned earlier M mitkov who we saw in this last draft slip because of the Russian Factor Why is it different with is it the contract that demidov’s contract is over after this year and there some uncertainty with mitkov was that the main difference or is it a talent thing like how do you how do you compare those two the the talent’s close a lot of Scouts I talk to actually think deol might be the better player down the line um I’m not sure about that just yet but uh yeah the contract for sure and obviously now we know that it looks like bitov might be coming over and um there’s that and then there you know a lot of rumors go around because it was hard to get conversations with them whether in some teams he refused to play for if they drafted him that was a story you know there was off I questions not even related to him but just in general the whole situation of his family what was going on so it there was a lot of things there that teams were just not willing to bite on given you know some of the talent that they could have chosen instead like Leo Carlson like Adam Fen Tilly those options kind of made that clear and some teams again just wasn’t gonna weren’t going to take him anyway but if demad off the one thing I’ll say about this draft is it’s nowhere as strong um at least from a forward perspective like last year you could have passed on mitchoff and again there were still other really good options this year if mitchoff isn’t the second forward drafted like there is a a talent drop off at that points so teams would be I think a little more remiss to do that so you know in theory we could see demod like actually I shouldn’t say in theory because right now we have no idea how these Russian contracts work the fact that that mitchoff was supposed to be there till 2026 basically didn’t play at all with the team that signed him and and now he looks like he’s coming over who knows when demidov’s cominging over at this point so uh again lots of question marks especially with that organization that he’s part of there um but I think that it you just it’s really tough kind of say why it isn’t as big of a deal but there’s a lot less concerns I guess off the ice there while we’re on demov what stay here for a while uh we love to work with comparisons uh is there an NHL player uh currently that reminds you of demov because I think we see a lot of the highlights and are all very spectacular and uh you know highflying and exciting and jaw-dropping but what what kind of what kind of packages he’d bring into the NHL if he’s the pick I think he from a skill perspective you do see a bit of you know maybe Johnny goodro a bit of COV you kind of see some of those skill elements I don’t know how if he’s going to be better than either of those two obviously COV has kind of set this big standard but he just when you get the puck things happen and he’s not you know Conor Bard is in his own his own class and the way that he moved the puck but in terms of pure skill in this draft demad off I think is the the top guy available and you know again we’re talking mitchoff level maybe from last year in terms of just what he’s able to do there so um I’ve been high on him for a long time I I’ve had him pretty much number two since I want to say October um when just kind of watching him play in the KHL preseason and playing with Russia a little bit in international competition I guess local International competition doesn’t really count but watch him do that you just you don’t see a guy that controls a puck like that often and that’s that’s what excites me I’ve asked a couple of the other uh draft experts we’ve had on the last few weeks uh in regards to Le shof I know like right-handed defensemen have become like the Holy Grail of professional hockey like it’s you got to have right-handed defenseman if lunov is Left-Handed is he still considered as high as he is right now or is he just it his handedness doesn’t matter he’s that good personally I don’t care about the handedness in this I know some people will care more um I think you know Sam Dickinson for example left-handed defenseman that I think is extremely underrated in this draft partly because you see what Le shuna’s able to do and they’re kind of similar players but you know again we’re we’re talking about a guy who’s a high-end Defender with good size good Mobility good Puck moving skills LED Michigan State points this year and that includes beating out Isaac Howard who’s a tremendous goal scorer so the thing about lunov that really helps me set him apart is how competitive that he is like he wants to win under all circumstances and you know credit to him also like going from Belarus a couple years ago playing in you know the USHL a totally new unfamiliar situation for him out of covid and then he’s going out there and he’s the number one defenseman on a competitive college team the year after like that’s a lot of change for a young kid and he stood the test of time there each time and part of that is his mental fortitude I think he’s one of the just you know mentally strong players you’re going to find in this draft nothing bothers him and then again you see the right-handed stick that helps for in a lot of teams eyes and then the way he controls the puck like there’s a reason that he’s pretty much a consensus number one defenseman in this draft at this point do you see him as a number one NHL defenseman I’ve been toying with that for a while definitely a top pairing no question I think I do think he’s he’s got that number one potential though I just he’s a guy that you could you see like the offense and the way he like like what’s a good example Zach rensky and Columbus you kind of see they’re not the same player but obviously but the way that he kind of can control the puck there um Pace seems to like he controls the pace and that alone and in how he plays on the power play and plays all the situations is very valuable I can kind of see that type of upside there it’s interesting I because for me if I’m picking it to I want some certainty right like I I don’t want it to be and kind of what Greg alluded to is like the desire for a right-handed guy and look I I watched Luna play a lot like I watched when Michigan state was on once we knew the Hawks were horrible again started paying attention to uh so October 5th yeah started paying attention to the college game and he you know he looks theart and and if that is the pick I don’t think I’m going to flip over a table or anything but I just think you’ve got this opportunity to take someone like demidov who you put with Bard for the next decade and call it a day someone in our chat I think it was tanver said taking lunov now is like taking cam burer over malcin and I just like I don’t know if that might be a little bit of an exaggeration but maybe a little bit it did make my heart skip a couple beats more than usual yeah I mean that definitely scares me into making the Dem pick more uh but uh I don’t think I think leev shof is slightly better than cam Barker even at that point of their careers I I think but um o that’s just that’s just bad the shutter spine yeah well the Hawks recently made some news by moving up from 20 to 18 making a trade with the Islanders something you usually see on draft night but they get it done early and of course that got the speculation train rolling and but likely they’re picking at 18 what what are some of the the uh the best options you see there uh still being on the board say they they take demad off and they and then they want to get a a defenseman at 18 preferably right-handed uh who who would be the best options left that’s the thing right-handed defenseman it’s not a not a surplus in this draft uh Adam Ur would be one of those options there he did miss most of the Season though due to an injury so there’s a lot of risk there I guess the two players in general I kind of circled as the guys that thought Chago might pick by moving up is Michael heg and you know being a Chicago Steel play like they got a good view of him and uh I I think the world of him that’s a guy who had to kind of like in a slightly different sense but kind of like uh Frankie Nar kind of missed his draft plus one season and had to play catchup well Michael hag had to do that this year in his draft year because he missed last most of the last year of an injury but you know he can shoot he gets feisty he’s you know he’s had to deal some tragedy in his life with some family members passing away and it hasn’t slowed him down he continues to just stay strong and Scouts commend him for that so they Scouts love him like let’s just put it clear like Scouts love Michael ha but the other guy if you want to go back on the blue line that I’d be keeping an eye out is Stan soberg a left-handed defenseman out of Norway and if you saw the world championship he was Norway’s best defenseman by a mile and he’s you know 18 years old 6’2 guy 2011 pounds maybe not a top pairing defensin but you can put him on your second pairing he’s going to be a pain in the ass to play against because he’s going to shove every single player that comes near him um he does take some dumb penalties from time to time but again we’re looking at someone where maybe not a lot of scoring upside but defensively he’s one of the better defensemen in this draft He makes himself so difficult to play again so those are kind of the two names I’m really kind of looking at here and say those would make sense I I like that you mentioned uh Hey because that’s the guy yep I’ve kind of demad and heg in the first round is kind of my uh best case scenario I’d be very happy with that um I know one of the names that we we hear a lot defensively is uh EJ emry is he do you think he’s still there at 18 or he’s they may have to move up a little further to get him he’s definitely in the conversation there I think I think he should go a little higher like I have him at number 17 so right before um Chicago pick obviously but I’ve been riding the EJ Emy training for a long time you know I I just a guy that’s built like the way he is 6 foot three and i’ I’ve talked to a lot lot of 6 fo3 players but this guy doesn’t feel like he’s 6 fo3 he feels like he’s a brick and he’s massive and he’s I guess a boulder would be a better comparison but I voted for him to win the top defenseman at the uaam world championship and it was his defense partner Cole Hudson that did it and part of that was Hudson went out there and put up all the points but Emory was just Rock Solid every game there was no off game and that was kind of the trend for most of the Season like he only scored one goal all year and was an exhibition showcase game didn’t score any other time so obviously that’s not a huge thing but from talking to him that is something he’s trying to improve and you’re trying to prove that when you’re already a good skater you got the size you got a good reach and you’re really good defensively and you could play with someone like Hudson who loves to rush the puck and he can kind of just hold that the fort down there that’s valuable so uh he also like his his family full of athletes his dad played in the Canadian Football League Eric Emory and then um EJ himself was a track runner in high school and he claims he lost once in his entire time there so uh you can see it though the way he’s kind of got that stride he moves really well so if he’s available 100% I I just don’t know if he will be available oh we got a$2 super chat from Brian who wants to know how does Michael heg compare to Andrew Shaw uh not very well not at all I will say not not the same type of player he’s bigger he plays center much more offensive uh potential there than Andrew Shaw uh and I know Andrew Shaw is a beloved beloved player here in Chicago but uh sorry at number 18 I want to shoot higher than Andrew Shaw yeah he’s a guy you could throw as a second line Center I think in the future well I guess there’s some there’s options in the Blackhawk system there but I think you could you can reasonably think he could be a second line player I think the Hawks need more of that guy that when you pick him you’re like he is a cent because many ofp drafted as but it’s still to be determined you know you had the Lucas reel experience experimented Center that didn’t really work so well I don’t know if they’re still going to try that again there’s debate if Conor Bard is even a center Long Term if he’d be better served on the wing we don’t know about Nar Oliver Moore those are guys that play center but don’t know if there’ll be centers in the NHL so drafting a guy where you’re like he is a center that’s all he does because they kind of need one of those he fit that well and kind of go into the Bedard conversation I I’ve been saying since before his draft year I feel like he’ just be better on the wing um you don’t need him to be a 200 foot player you just need him to go out there and be creative and dominate the puck and you could do that as a Winger which is why I thought he looked good early on in the world championship um but that’s a story for a different day yeah we’re going to get to that for sure but a couple other little Prospect things I want to get to draft things uh you mentioned wanting a Surefire Center uh Kaden Lindstrom is a name that has been talked about in that top five area uh I I think the health concerns probably eliminate him from the Hawks taking him at two um but last year we saw you know Oliver Moore fall way way way way way down uh I don’t know if lr’s a candidate for that but is there a guy who you think this year maybe not the given the stuff that’s kind of gone off the ice I don’t know if that’s something that the Blackhawks are going to be looking to do there but uh in terms of other guys you know maybe Michael branz knard uh a good Winger out of Norway who just had a fantastic season in Sweden um and just works so hard and has a great shot I could see him falling a bit uh Liam greenre is another guy that I think you know had has an unbelievable shot just wish he used it a bit more at the u18s um when I was there and um I think a slow tournament there is not going to help his draft stock um it’ be interesting to really see where Becka senica goes uh he’s dealing with an injury to he missed the end of the OHL playoffs oshaa desperately needed him there uh because they didn’t have any scoring when it matter they I think they allowed seven goals in all four of their games a minimum of seven goals but you know he just was finished the season on this hot streak I think the one question for Scouts is can he sustain this is this a real long-term thing or he’s going to continuously be a high-end offensive threat and I don’t know that so those are kind of the names I could see falling a little bit and I should go back to LST how far do you see him falling with the injury concerns I still think we’re talking top seven at least um you know with with him it’s teams love his size um the injury doesn’t help but I I don’t know if this year there’s any player that might get impacted by injury more than maybe Aon Ki Haru who but some people were talking about a top three Prospect heading into the year with Lindstrom I think we just saw enough in that first half it’s like yeah if he just can keep doing that he’s going to be okay so I I don’t think too big of a deal like he didn’t have a great playoffs but that first game back I think he had like nine shots so um I think it’s just a fresh start next season is all he needs all right let’s move on to uh who is here in the system and I I do kind of want to continue this Bard Center Wing thing and I think something that’s unique about him is the fact that like he’s a he’s a puck Handler and he’s not a he doesn’t he’s not kind of married to a position when he’s on the IC he weaves all over kind Cycles around so how important is that to Define that as a center or Wing when you have a guy that that plays that style see good good centerman can kind of do that right like they can play everything they can go anywhere and do any role in the ice and that’s kind of what made Bard attractive as a centerman but um I think the one thing about him just moving to the wing is yeah he’s not great defensively and he never really had to be because every team he’s been on he’s the guy that goes out there and puts the Pucks in there the net and I think that’s finding a guy like Jack Hughes who’s just that good in both ends at a young age when they’ve been a star at every level is really hard to come by uh I know there were concerns about Conor McDavid kind of at the same time like was he gonna play a ton of defense and we’re talking about a guy in Bard who’s still 18 you know playing on a team that clearly didn’t give him the the proper support he needed in his first year and it’s a it’s a building process so it’s a couple years anyways and and everyone there knows that but I think with him it’s like the defense will probably come because he’s a skilled player that can adapt anything and he knows his own weaknesses and knows how to overcome that but at the same time it’s like not a huge guy I I did do the numbers though like when when you look at Bard’s draft season he threw more hits on average than I believe the five forwards taken first overall in the last couple drafts before that so you know your I sasi 6’4 didn’t hit anywhere what Bard was doing granted you’re hitting guys in the wa is not the same thing as hitting guys in in the NHL and you could see him kind of shy away from the more physical side of things and he would lose face offs to bigger guys but you know there’s the arguments you made he could be the Winger but a good Superstar player like him can adapt to anything so just give him time there’s no rush to make a a long-term decision here I think yeah I’d imagine he will start next year at Center yeah I mean now’s the time to figure out right if that’s his spot or now you know figure it out for when you are ready to compete to know for sure where he plays I mean they played him a little at Wing at the end of last year they put Jason Dickinson up on his line and you know part of that could just see how it looks part of that could look he he looked Gass those last couple weeks of the Season too so it might have been to just give him a little breather a bit but uh yeah I agree he’ll start the season at Center and you know it’s going to be another season where they’re not challenging for a playoff spot well most likely so here’s where you find out what those young kids can do well he didn’t look gas at the world championships and started that you know terman off on fire and then found himself ice time going down and then the 13th forward what did you make of that whole thing uh Stephen I’m curious your thoughts on that I I never understood it and people would respond to me tweeting like play Bard Mo and say like oh he wasn’t great defensively I’m like find more than one play this entire tournament where he actually put the team in a bad spot that someone that like that Jared mccan didn’t also do the same thing it’s like especially later in those games you want to put the youth guy out there you want to put the guy who knows how to skate out there and knows how to to create opportunities like we saw him play with John Taris late in these games and it’s like so you don’t find Bard valuable enough to play more than 10 minutes a night but when you need a goal desperately you keep like double shifting him where does that make sense and yeah he scored a bunch of goals in those first few games that people say oh he scored six goals in the the first three games and it was against teams you expect to beat but he was the best Canadian player in those three games he didn’t play bad against the fins and then all of a sudden yeah he he made one bad defensive play in his own Zone but then from that it seemed like he was the scapegoat on a team where they needed goals and having him as the 13 forward and barely playing him doesn’t make a lot of sense and it’s not uncommon in some of these tournaments where the 13 forward actually still gets a lot of ice time because they’ll play the power play they’ll play all these different roles they’re kind of just like they’re not locked into anybody and they’ll move around and those guys can be valuable but it didn’t seem like that was the case and you know the one shootout game they played against the Swiss he scored and it was like after the play he did to to Varys to get the game timeing goal it’s like again why aren’t you playing him in more and overtime why is he playing one minute in overtime why is he not playing at all against the checks it didn’t make a lot of sense so to me that felt like some bad coaching there and which is odd because you know Andre Turney like he was he’s hockey candid as guy he’s been their coach at the world juniors multiple times the u18 so he knows how to to work with these young guys but it felt like he was getting punished for seemingly smaller things than other guys on the team the veteran guys probably should have been punished for more so um it didn’t make a lot of sense to me and when they needed goals they weren’t playing them yeah I wonder if it’s just like a a deference to the veterans or something and we’ve talked about this a lot like with Connor Bard’s personality he is and again it’s not him making these decisions but just he’s very aware of the hierarchy like he’s very aware that I’m the rookie I don’t want to stand out as anything different from the rest of my teammates but man you’ve got a kid with that much talent who had been putting up those are and again yes it was against Great Britain like a lot of those numbers right like the competition wasn’t exactly the the tops but when he had ice time when he was out there he was creating I almost feel like people are looking for something to pick apart in his game it’s almost like confirmation bias right like he’s bad defensively uh see he’s bad defensively there’s the play and now he’s got to sit we watched him for 82 games this year and yeah there were those moments where he’d make a cross- ice pass that he could have made in junior they can’t learn at the NHL level but he wasn’t a detriment out there defensively by any means I don’t it’s just weird it’s like people are looking for something with him when I asked for examples of what made him bad or and made him like become the 13 forward like no one really gave anything that’s the thing like I watched him very closely and uh you know yeah he’s 18 years old the young guys were not going to play and when you compare to like Will Smith who was playing like similar numbers for the Americans he wasn’t doing a whole lot out there he was there more for the experience then you look at Bard who was still creating opportunities and again maybe Nick Paul and Jared mccan doesn’t exactly give give him the the linemate You’ really hope for like I I was saying for the longest time it’s if if it wasn’t for dubo also having a good T tournament with JN Taris like you could have thrown dubal off the line and you could have put Bard there but that those guys worked well so I think you know without a proper good centerman to play with he was kind of having to do a lot um a lot on his own now his chemistry of Nick Paul was evident but again Nick Paul’s not pushing the needle the way that you know someone like bad wood and I I again I just I I don’t I don’t get it there the confirmation bias thing is exactly kind of how I’m looking at it here it’s like people want to hate on him because he was this highly you know touted Prospect same thing with Conor McDavid in early in his career people like oh look this mistake he made he’s not as good as people expect him to be Conor Bard is gonna be one of the best players in the NHL no question about it you know this tournament he was started on Pace to to destroy any record ever set by an 18-year-old at the world championship and then as soon as he got on that pace he was done basically yeah I mean Matthew baly led the tournament with 14 points for USA uh and Bard had uh eight points but it again he lost so much ice time and he played you know8 minutes some nights I think that was maybe the lowest like 8:15 or something like that yeah it’s it is he I don’t I don’t think he’s frustrated cuz again I think he gets oh you know I’m just the kid but it was a real heads scratcher to watch that tournament go on I know we’ve been taking up a ton of your time so let’s get to some of the other Hawks prospects we got a glimpse of Frank nzar at the end of the year this year and man did he immediately have this city fall in love with him and we’re not really sure what the plan is for him uh coming in the next season when we started the NHL head to Rockford we don’t know but uh what are your thoughts on uh on Frank Nar as a is an NHL Pro you know the one thing that stood out to me was watching him with the World Junior Summer showcase and it looked like he had a a chip on his shoulder there having missed most of the year and having to play a bit of catchup and then like I asked him like how difficult is it in your in your draft plus one year having to then get thrust into you know getting an injury and then get thrust into the the thing late and trying to find a role and he’s like yeah it was it was pretty hard and he was hoping to use that tournament kind of as an opportunity to go out there and and really show what he could do and you know for a confidence Builder he was one of the best players in that entire tournament and then you saw him go and play in Michigan a team that just that that was you know saw a lot of its star players turn pro so they needed a big season um from Nar who you saw the speed he was able to put in the the skill and then that World Juniors you saw how like for a guy who knows how to score goals he couldn’t score goals but he was setting everybody else up and and it was working perfectly so I’m I’m really high on Nar you know not a big guy so I’m not totally sure how his role is going to really evolve with the Blackhawks but uh or if he’s going to be a a center or if he’ll be on the wing uh I could see him get some time there um there’s no reason to rush him again kind of just going to the Blackhawks long-term plans here and I did write actually today I saying like I I really hope the Blackhawks start spending some money to start getting some guys on that core I don’t know if that’s what you guys feel they should be doing too but you can afford to to be patient of Nar and get it right because he still kind of did miss you know one of the most important years of his development yeah it seems like that’s the plan and probably not a massive you know 8year $13 million capit kind of a deal but um some reinforcements probably maybe those beer B tier free agents we were talking about like aavo terrain or uh Max doy Chris tanv somebody along those lines to come in and just make the roster better and more competitive cuz I we talked a lot this year like we get the rebuild we understand the purpose of it we we’re all on board with it but you also don’t want a culture of losing where guys just start to get used to being terrible and it’s and it doesn’t phase them anymore so I think they kind of owe it to Bard and kinsky and uh a lot of those guys to kind of hey let’s let’s help you out a little bit here and before we wrap up why don’t we talk about kinsky a little bit who played uh the whole season aside from a little bit of timeout when his uh dad passed away um what were your thoughts on his rookie year I thought it was impressive like I I wasn’t sure to be honest what type of role he was going to have this year and I think the fact is that again the kind of like Bard it was just this year like let’s just we’re focused on the future here let we we can afford to have you make mistakes I did not see him becoming an NHL player this quickly so to to have the year he did where you know I thought he again anytime he would make mistakes or or or something wouldn’t go right he would learn from it he would get better and you saw the Improvement and um again I don’t know if this is what you guys saw necessarily but like in the second half of the Season you could kind of tell there was the grind of playing 70 plus games for the first time in his career but I feel like he he’s got the conditioning to make it work I think he’s got you know really good hockey IQ um he’s getting he’s figuring how to use his speed a bit more how to move a little better there so um to me I’m happy with that it’s it’s a it’s still going to be a long process there but I’m glad they got him into the games this year where he can be thrown to the Wolves but not penalized if things went wrong and that’s what I like to see yeah agreed yeah just I think him and Bard at the end of the year were like okay that’s a lot of hockey that’s totally understandable all right Stephen we appreciate your time man you gave us way more than we said then we asked you to so thank you so much for that make sure you’re following uh Stephen on Twitter SS hockey he’s at the daily face off uh Brian says love the channel super excited to become a Die Hard we’ll definitely rep the chgo on a daily basis keep up the awesome work guys we appreciate that couple new die hards this week too I saw Jeremy signed up today jery loged in die Hardy became a die hard today uh Debbie and James uh this week uh SE and Jeff so lots of good new die hards Keep It Coming go to lch.com and become a Die Hard more on that later including info on our golf outing go which is coming up in July it’s going to be good stuff uh boy I really like Stephen he was I I like his uh real like cerebral in his analysis you know and uh the more of these people we talk to the more we read it really feels like demidov’s the guy uh I’m at the point now where it effing better be yeah like I for the longest time I like I’d be happy with lunov that’d be fine now I’m kind of like yeah I don’t want to get angry with a really good high-end right-handed defenseman but talking to all these people might make me angry if they don’t pick them yeah and and look like Brian Campbell it was kind of a throwaway line a little bit when we talked to him but it was still uh you know like yeah we haven’t had good eyes on them yet but I think they know what they’re getting they know what they’re getting they’ve seen all the video that’s out there I am sure they have while they don’t have an actual team employed Scout in Russia they have if Scout powers can talk to a Russian Scout yes the Blackhawks get they’re probably talking to the same guy and keep in mind too when you compare just the organization in general to other NHL organizations the Hawks have more scouting staff more like more markeet like they just have a budget that other teams don’t have and you know they they’re going to be able to if they need to get someone there or hire someone and say hey for the next however long you are our Russian Scout to have eyes on this kid uh on and off the ice you know get the KGB on him or whatever it might be the Hawks are the team or one of the teams that can certainly afford to get that done so look as we’ve said all along with like the Russian factor with demidov they’re doing all their due diligence and if they have any sort of doubts in her mind that he’s going to come here they probably won’t take him but to me it almost feels like just the way that Kyle Davidson operates he’s always and he always says it best player available and that’s what his timeline has been when you look at his drafts that’s basically what he’s done now you could look in the late rounds and say well Marcel Marcel was kind of a stretch okay fine right but as you look at the the higher rounds when you get the fifth round I mean best player available is is just schemat you know schematics at that point cuz it’s like semantics I like schematics I was I was I was I combined two words together I like schematics and semantics uh semantics I mean at that point you just take probably the guy that you’ve seen the most Maybe maybe I don’t know but yeah best player available at number two it’s demad from everybody we’ve talked um wasn’t I think pman was the only one who took lunov in there yeah when him and Wheeler did the back and forth draft and Wheeler told us when we had Scott wheeler on they’re like well if I was in charge if I had the blackhaw pick I would have taken demod off um and I know we’ve we’ve seen some chatter today’s chat past chat where we say give Bard his his running mate his his dynamic duo and you know people like well I don’t know if they can be on the same line together they both like we don’t mean necessarily they have to play on the same line like you know like Crosby and malan weren’t always on the same line Kane and Taves were were rarely on the same line exactly like we just mean you have that onew punch ideally you would love to play them on separate lines if you have them because then you have two lines that opposite team you know opposing teams have to be aware of and make sure so that means your bottom are going to get that third pairing all night long and they can you know start bum slaying uh and I will say this to you before we get to the Conference Finals the more I hear about Michael heg the more I to figure out oh [ __ ] I forgot to ask what Mario’s guy we did sorry we we we talked about it before the show and we blew it so oh we’ll have to have Steven on again when Mario sorry Mario he want ask about Diego buddaz Zone uh and off the air Stephen said fifth round pick so we did ask not on the show um oh yeah he we’ve got to figure out though is it he h h heg I don’t know I’ve heard it both ways many times but I I’m I’m a big fan of his I like in a little bit I saw last year with him with the steel I think he fits a long-term need uh but we’ll see what happens uh you know you could there might still be some I mean there’s still going to be good good defensive options in the second round third round um I mean I was still the the one guy that just you know when cam Robinson last week was telling us that like Kaden Lindstrom you know like just the ideal size and all that and I was like is that yeah but if the Hawks were at three I’d say yeah I know it’s it’s the you know he says back injury and he’s like well it’s not the same as whatever but still like backs rarely ever get better yeah ask tev Jenkins ask Dave Bolan ask Anthony Rizzo ask a million people bad backs especially in hockey yeah and bad backs ever who had to fly in the plane laying in the middle of the floor and at 18 years old already having back problems as a big kid that just it’s scary so maybe you get five amazing years and then you know you get 20 games a year for the rest of his career who knows maybe it’s maybe it is nothing maybe it was just just a freak injury but could be uh at number two and you you said it earlier at number two I want more I want as close of a sure thing as I could possibly get at number two and I also want maybe it’s selfish but I want a star player AB I don’t want a guy who’s going to be pretty good like right obviously pretty good for a long time that’s great like that’s cool too that’s that’s that’s eight the 18th pick but we didn’t I want to stud we didn’t go through all that crap last year to get an a average NHL player for 14 years no I want a damn Difference Maker yes exactly and I think based on everything we’ve heard demidov is that guy and look maybe Le shov is that guy and we asked Stephen about it you know he’s like oh you know he’s he’s at least a top pair guy probably I need like I’m sorry I need to know what’s more than that and again if he’s if if Sha’s the pick I’m not going to be pissed about it but I I I would be lying if I wouldn’t be a little bit disappointed yeah it’s it’s if lenov is as good as they say is and he’s going to be him and vasic or him and kinsky are your top pairing for the next 12 years that’s great you do need that but at at the moment I’m going to be like uh and I’m all I’m going to do for the rest of those two careers oh yeah is sit there and go oh yeah shof was a minus two last night well demad had a goal two assist all of a sudden we’re mad about plus minus yeah we’re going to be like you know hey lenov is we’re in year three and he’s still the fifth defenseman and meanwhile demad is in his second All-Star game what are we doing here like I don’t want to do that no I agree I agree Kyle that’s the pick that is do it take the rest of the summer off budy we got it you’re good yeah come hang hang out here and do some podcast yeah we got chairs we ready for you he’s got some acting chops we could do some fun uh social stuff with him I was going to say we could we could turn Kyle from Chicago into like a weekly series all right let’s if he’s listening let’s turn he’s got turn it off he’s listening if we have him on we all have to dress like Kyle from Chicago that day red shirt backwards hat I can do that I can do that but we can’t mention it oops we have to see if he picks up on it well if he’s listening he’s he just ruined it I’m sure his people are informing him at uh 4538 uh zasi said he’s going to dress like you if you’re ever on the show do listen we know that they listen we know they listen and we appreciate we love you yes most of the time hit the like button please yeah hit that like button get all those Blackhawks employees all those at blackhawks.com YouTube accounts hit that like button for us get us get us a better uh Press Box seat next year yeah stop sticking us those wires out from under there what are they there for stop sticking us next to one particular person I love Les grene but he passed away we no longer need the actual phone his son’s there now reincarnate uh another Super Chat from Brian who is Nicholas Morano’s long lost brother uh he says what’s the difference between drafting back in the day bust late round studs and now uh sorry I read from the I read from the chat where it’s not uh top I’m sorry let me start over Brian says what’s the difference between drafting back in the day bus late round studs and now where if you’re not top two you’re worried if that makes sense well I think now you have a lot more so much more information there’s a lot more info yeah and I think you’re not relying on a cigar smoking guy to send you a type report from Sudbury to tell you about what this guy is you could actually just sit in your office all day and watch it yourself I love that scene from uh Moneyball where all the old Scouts are are like well he’s got an ugly girlfriend which means he doesn’t have any self-esteem and you can’t like oh my God that’s how it used to be it was you would just trust the eye of some old hockey kogin and go with it now with so much more info I think for general manager and Scouts there’s less of an excuse to get it wrong if that makes sense right like and I think that’s probably why we are seeing fewer Buss early yeah like don’t you think generally you have like the guys who have been picked in the top five over the last few years still have a few of them just not as many but I think yeah but like coming into this year Le forer would have been called a bust and now he’s figured it out right right like it just takes guys develop differents you could have a major bust in Shane Wright if he doesn’t figure it out in another year or two but see that almost feels to me like mismanagement yes and no but he was a guy that for two years we heard was a Surefire first overall pick then he went fourth and that kind of started the whole and Seattle is taking their time with him but uh you know I don’t know that’s a guy that I think needs to start producing soon or he’s going to get that label like year was getting this year or heading into this year I was one of those guys that’s I I mean he still is not and he’s been a lot better this year amazing what happens when you have a coach that plays him a top six Talent with top six Talent uh I still don’t think he’s uh worthy of that number one overall pick uh but time may tell y all right we got to hit the break Zone again uh when we come back we’re going to we’re still here we’re not going anywhere but after the break Zone we’re going to talk about the uh Conference Finals cuz we haven’t really had a chance to do that no and they’ve been been a busy week damn good yep hey this may yes so for the next uh nine hours or so our number one draft pick for all things Chryslers Dodges jeeps and Ramses has got to be Ray Chrysler Dodge Jeep and RAM in Fox Lake happens when you become a Die Hard you get a free shirt or hat upon sign up we got a hat right there I’m wearing a shirt it’s actually it’s a very subtle uh design but it’s a little faded gray Chicago stuff you get a free shirt or hat upon sign up or 35 bucks off a hoodie uh also another free shirt or hat every year upon signup and 20% off chg locker.com and all of our events and takeovers and tailgates and all that stuff so here’s what’s coming up June 4th cross town takeover Murphy’s bleachers sacks Cubs coming out everyone’s feeling Riding High with the Chicago baseball teams I’m not sure we can say that we have to say Chicago team a versus Chicago Team B oh well that’s fine the literally word is on there okay yeah um so come on out is the two Chicago teams Cubs face each other in sports ball that’s June 4th no busy that day all right how about June 24th chg white sock take over go to that one no that doesn’t work all right how about June 29th you take a road trip to Milwaukee with the chg we drive you there and back no not us but no yeah we won’t do that CH will still busy it’s understandable June’s a busy month June 29th another takeover for the Cubs we might be not here for that one we won’t be we that’s right we’re going to be in we will sure yeah of course yeah we’re going to be there we just don’t know where we’re sleeping um and sleep outside the big one July 22nd the dgo cookout Classic golf outing at St Andrews Golf and Country Club not that one uh jump in there this was such great fun last year I was really impressed with the way like for our first ever golf outing it was smooth as hell I’ve been part of other broadcast company golf outings this was the smoothest one I’ve been part of and year or two is going to be even better take advantage of early bird pricing again die hards you save on your admission to the scramble cookout classic uh the big Drive energy pod is going to be part of things hopefully Spencer is in my force him again that would be great it’s very very helpful when he’s on my team uh but come on we’re all going to be out there hanging out golfing uh again it’s scramble style so if you suck you just never get to play your ball it’s fine it’s a good time just hit the ball into the woods every time come drink some lights come uh get some SE wh ball is a sponsor of that I would love to do a chgo whirly ball night I’ve never done whirly ball it’s fun I would love it no it’s fun I don’t know I just feel like it’s drunk people with in little cars that have like sticks sound we’re hockey fans bumper cars in Lacrosse that is true we are hockey F I mean I don’t know how good the sandwiches are there but I mean we’ll be all right yeah uh Holly Skinner says she’d be die hard if uh she didn’t live in the UK I don’t think we have international die hards we have our guy Alexander from Portugal the well the only thing hollyw would miss out on being from is the takeovers but guess what we’re going to London we’re going to London for the bears but you still save 20% on the merch yeah you still get access to all the great written content like the rebuild report the Blackhawks beat all the great stuff that’s written every week and you’re supporting your favorite American blos that’s right and we deserve it and we need it but yeah there is a road trip to uh London which it’s more of an air trip than a road trip right right uh but not not for Holly that’s true she can drive down there or take a double-decker bus and the M mean everybody there absolutely I just yeah I mean Al plus plus there’s the Discord you know we’ve got that thing that’s for there’s a lot of value tied into the I’ll say this the Die Hard program is what you make it exactly you know like there’s so much it’s way you’re talking about my Apple watch we’re not going get we’re not going off the air until you become a Die Hard Holly come on no pressure send us your pound your what else is Shekels and your I mean euros and pounds are probably if you’re in the UK it’s probably one of those two yeah all right hour train ride for Holly all right it’s not bad it’s the train it’s the train I love the TR it’s fun you go through the countryside European train rides are much better than American train rides I bet yeah there sheeps long you looking at those cows nothing but cows here yeah rameses all right let’s talk about the Conference Finals law I’m sorry we’re not going to be able to do talk about a guy today uh you want to do one I don’t know there’s Conference Finals have been fun look at let’s do some let’s do some guys we could do some guys’s do whatever we’ll do both know you want to do with the let’s do the Conference Finals first sure me and uh pety our prediction was wrong the stars are going to need more than five games to dispatch the Oilers there that’s up it’s still happening no I want now I want the I want the Oilers to win for sure I’m wondering which team is no the game tonight’s game five is going to be interesting would you call it pivotal yes uh that’s the exact word I would use me and everybody else uh does anybody want to score that first goal no CU both both teams have gone out to two nothing leads in the last two games and lost so they just stand there and just stare at the puck after all a sudden all of a sudden it’s the Oilers looking like the deeper team I mean they’ve got guys contributing Chris tanov can’t go in game five that’s a huge loss he’s more he’s himself for next season with the Hawks so you know Stuart skner hasn’t been great but on that team you don’t have to be great you just have to be good I will say the Oilers have found a level I did not think they had they have found it they played better defensively yes this whole post season this is the best chance that Conor McDavid has to win it all since he’s been in the league yep and I don’t think he’s going to let that just slip away and how amazing is it that the Edmonton Oilers are two wins away from the Stanley Cup Final and Conor McDavid has four goals granted he has 24 freaking assists yeah but he’s that’s that’s what we talk about like the depth is what matters so what happens when he goes on that and it’s coming he gets that three-goal fivepoint game what if that happens tonight that series is dunzo I look I I’m I find myself too even though I pick the Stars uh in my bracket uh I too find myself rooting for the Oilers cuz I want McDavid to get a cup I want him to win a cup he he needs one I don’t want any sort of Dan Marino [ __ ] with Conor McDavid at the end of his career because plus if they win a cup then he can come here and play leand rido might be more inclined to leave and come to Chicago maybe I just I think he is already in the Mount Rushmore conversation I think he’s already easily a top five to seven player in the history of the game uh and just getting a Stanley Cup would just solidify that for him he is a thrill to watch I the only player I remember that has taken my breath away like he does is Mari Leu and if you were ever at a Hawks game where they played Mario Lemieux you knew for those 60 seconds that 66 was on the ice you held your breath the entire time that’s what it is with McDavid absolutely and I I call back to that Series in Vegas the the the fake the bubble playoffs even though the Hawks beat the Oilers still don’t know how I spent that entire series terrified about about Conor McDavid well I think everybody who’s ever played Conor McDavid is that way when he gets the puck he’s playing a different game than everybody else the the ease that he can get around players and just do what he wants is insane it’s he’s unlike insane I don’t know how he doesn’t score a hattrick every night to be honest with you and Lemieux was so smart and big and strong and like the vision and all that but McDavid has it and and the speed to go from standing still to full speed in two or three strides it’s unreal it’s unreal and look In fairness to Mario they played in different eras and it was a lot more clutchy and grabby when Mario played but I mean I think when it’s said and done those are going to be the three guys talked about in hockey history four I always how McDavid Gretzky and limo speaking of guys with bad backs uh and other health issues I always said if Mar had a healthy back and and not cancer and was able to avoid all those other things you’d have more of a debate with who was better Gretzky or lemu 100% cuz Mario was more of a complete player than grety I just remember I was at a game um my buddy Stan took me and uh his no uh my best friend had like an older like a brother was like eight or nine years older so he’d always take us to stuff and we’d hang out with him we were like fifth or sixth row off the ice in Hawks are playing the Penguins and lemu had the puck on the boards it they were on the power play and I’m just like someone just check him just he’s standing there go take the puck and as soon as a hawk came to him he’s like thank you boomp pass right on the tape and Pittsburgh scores like you C you just the guy was unbelievable all the time but McDavid is right there and and look the T of things huge as you mentioned this this one is Hu this game is so big yeah and Dallas hasn’t been great at home I agree it’s it’s I’m I have toe it’s a fact um I still think Dallas is just better and deeper I just hope Edmonton scores early and often so those boobs and Dallas stay in their effing seats I can’t see sit down it’s like the Joe where they stand have can’t see anything yeah well that was cuz the camera well was like right above the last row of the seats they actually give it to a fan to hold the whole game it was just yeah uh no sit down you’re not you’re not changing anything you’re not doing anything sit down I get you’re nervous I understand that it’s fine but it’s annoying and the Rangers are done right yes they are oh they this series should be over I agree if it wasn’t for eagar shurkin this series would have been over in four the Panthers are whooping that ass yeah uh five on five it’s me against boys half the time you know the the Rangers but the Rangers have been bad at five on five all playoff long the reason they were able to they dominated the PK and the P power play in both against Carolina and Washington and they’re not able to do that against the Panthers they’ve been bailed out by their goalie I mean braasi has been very good except for that one game but the Panthers just they don’t stop they never stop they just keep coming at you and they take a piece out of you with every shift they beat you into submission and they have taken away some of those best their best players uh artmi panan he’s got a couple assists in this series he hasn’t scored a goal in seven games yeah that’s everybody says he disappears in the playoffs he had some he’s got four game-winning goals in in this postseason but he a’t done [ __ ] seven games like uh Chris krider had that shorty but at five on five he’s been a non-factor Adam Fox when was the last time you saw him make a play I don’t think he I don’t think he’s healthy he hasn’t looked right all I mean no one is but he especially looks a little banged out I do want to say though mik hasin a Jad is such a good player he’s very good one of the most underrated players in the that’s what I was going to say like you’d look through the P the Rangers roster and there’s five or six guys you would name before him but boy that’d be a guy would love to poach yeah he’s uh he’s very good very under surprising playing in the New York Market that he’s not more of a major star in this in this uh league but you know it’s weird yeah but uh yeah Panthers are going to win and I think going out on the limb here whoever wins Edmonton Dallas tonight wins the series okay I agree with that as long as unless it’s Dallas okay fair enough one thing by the way I like to I’m sticking with my Edmonton when we talk about the Panthers and like their lack of rattle ability Paul Maurice has been so levelheaded so calm after every game win or lost been funny too Matthew kachuck is just like out there smiling talking smack unbothered yeah unbothered and that’s like the kind of that’s like those intangibles and like yeah Matthew kachuck is a great player don’t get me wrong but also like just him being the leader of that team and having that Swagger and having that confidence that rubs off on guys cuz when things get down and things are not going well and in the course of a series it’s going to happen they look over him and he’s over there smiling he’s over there chirping talking [ __ ] like they’re like all right we’re good he’s good I’m good let’s go let’s keep going it’s like uh you remember Ron Simmons Farooq the professional wrestler damn uh I once heard him say on a podcast um because you know back in the day in wrestling practical jokes were played a lot yeah on guys some funny some downright disgusting but he some they ask well you ever worried about guys playing pranks on you and he goes no cuz I’m unfuckwithable that’s the Florida Panthers you can’t get them off their game yeah yep that’s from coach to players they are not rattled and uh they know they’re the better team see the video of Paul Maurice just walking down the street after the game last night yeah there were a bunch of players too some players yeah cuz it’s New York they could just walk to the hotel from the garden that’s cool Mark Lan says he hates kachu how would you hate kachu but you’d love him if he was wearing a Bo I don’t hate kachu I don’t some of the stuff both of them annoy me but I would love to have either one of them on my team or both 100 that that’d be fun that’d be fun all right should we look at some guys before we go yeah let’s Brian’s got one more Super Chat though damn Brian he’s killing it today save that money for your renew must be payday res this was this was directed to Holly basically all right yeah Brian says to Holly I’m in Canada and I joined trust me if I was in Chicago I’d go to everything so here you go become a diard all chg.com all right let’s look at some guys okay before we go even though it’s we’re getting late but we’ll do it quick yeah why not hey we got the studio to ourselves Owen Nolan you know the funny thing about Owen Nolan is I love name Rhymes he’s a fantastic player but he’s remembered for a moment in an All-Star game where he picked a spot on Dominic hasik had a breakaway pointed at Dominic hasik and scored right where he pointed maybe like the baddass ass move you can pull as a player against the baddest ass goalie who maybe ever lived to be like I don’t care who you are I don’t care what your accomplishments are I’m scoring on you and I’m scoring right there and you can’t do anything about it I wonder uh I wonder if Owen Nolan is Holly’s favorite player of all time born in the UK that’s true Belfast yeah uh Northern Ireland but uh number one overall pick by the Quebec nordes very good player so Quebec had the number one overall pick two years in a row this was the year before Eric Lindros that those two together damn that would have been fun yeah it worked out all right yeah it was right all right who we got next oh Brian TR see now for me the80s Oilers are like right be or Islanders I mean are right before yeah I started getting into Hockey yeahum Club Card Mike bossy like that whole group Dennis povan they’re kind of out of my depth of knowledge what’s on the back of that card I’m just curious I mean but trach was with those penguin teams uh if you want sweet I think they put their rookie card on the back that is pretty sweet that one year that that was cool uh if you want my favorite Brian trach highlight is the uh chirping clip uh just YouTube Brian chier uh trash talk or something just be War don’t watch it at work it’s it inspired famousy chirp uh it’s it’s amazing it’s absolutely amazing there’s a lot though if he did that now he would be suped forever well yeah but there’s it didn’t age well no uh but it’s uh Brian tracher and is it Kevin Stevens I think it’s Kevin Stevens yes and they’re chirping Brian Bellows it’s during the 91 Stanley Cup Final and it’s just amazing lots of homophobic slurs in there so be warned don’t watch it with your kids no but uh yeah it’s better not bring kids it’s still pretty funny all right next up we got this is a guy I always hated Luke robai yeah he never did much for me either pretty boy soft it’s a good player I just like those sweet uh are amazing yes those were great those were great they imagine if that was piss colored they need to bring see they don’t have orange in the NHL logo anymore what a shame they need to bring back the orange I agree with that who would be mad everyone’s going vintage throwback NHL let’s go it’s time they’re listening next someone you may have heard of who’s that this now this guy is the brother of former NHL Brent Gretzky ah this is the Lesser known Wayne Gretzky the other the other half of the combination of the highest scoring Brothers in the history of the NHL so it says he’s the season leader 1990 and assists what do we what do we think the number is I’ve never heard of him uh 1990 probably had like 130 assists 1990 this card is not helping me right now doesn’t even say there’s like a come does it has like stories on it is that score is that the brand of card that is yeah that’s a score card cruci niski I hope you’re out of business Score says the all is always there when you think about when you think you’ve seen it all Gretch comes up with something new Wayne had 18 more assists and runner up and former Edmonton teammate Mark Messier despite playing six fewer games and battling an injury uh okay way had 102 assists assists that’s all right that’ss he’s terrible that was his lowest assists to Total since his rookie season by the way all right next up Blackhawks Legend Bernie Nichols Bernie Nichols on the Rangers yeah him and his offc Center camera and we no he was centered he was just he had his phone in his lap and he was calling us from Like A Duck Blind yes yes yeah Bernie Nichols great hockey player should be in the Hall of Fame worst interview we’ve ever had c blackha yeah that’s tough not because of not because of him if he was actually yeah if he was actually using modern technology it probably would have been a lot better yes not his flip phone yeah uh next up another Blackhawks Legend Wendell Clark we just talked about him wend Clark him of what seven games or whatever it was more number 71 with the O now that’s a cool card yeah I like those Leaf jerseys with the all like the white top sleeves the white the white yeah the leafes Always by the way have pretty sweet uniforms they they do I love the color yeah that the back of that card I want you’re not showing the back I’m sorry I’m sorry jez Le mom I like the old school that’s cool yeah why is there Mr R it’s a good next card uh there you go see I like this usually the gum would be stuck to this area right here yeah definitely all right ready for the next one for what the hell is this Mr Rogers Mr Rogers Fred Rogers Penguins this is a he’s from you know he’s from uh he is from latro Pennsylvania home of rock Rolling Rock oh yeah roolling rock yeah thank you uh Fred Rogers this is the celebrity Captain card cool on the back it says the soft voice of Pittsburgh Penguin celebrity Captain Fred Mister Rogers has resounded over radio and television for more than 35 years the composer musician writer and producer developed his first show he would cross check the crap out of we know what it is we know who Mr Rogers is pret thank you I think they just did a fun thing where they took like a celebrity from each yeah area and named them their Captain even though that had nothing to actually do with the team that’s still cool it’s a Mr Rogers card that is very cool that’s a cool Relic next up uh Brian said he watched the uh the Chirping video oh the Brian Bel yeah it’s we warned you do not watch it at work it’s it’s quite the thing yeah next up we got Yari Curry cry Philip KV y that be nice if Philip kurv Yi Curry isn’t that what Charlie said wait who did Charlie say was like Yar Curry it’s it was not Kev who was that Charlie Charlie the bang guy at some point was talking about Yari he was remember was a postgame show he said somebody was like reminds him of Yari Curry we all laugh we were like slow down Kev then get in the yeah yeah Yari Curry was a European beneficiary of a better Lin mid yeah I mean but but he went on and produced without Wayne Gretzky too so uh yeah I mean you got to be I mean dare you say Yari Curry underrated and he’s one of probably top 20 players ever play yeah yeah he’s he’s very good all right next another Blackhawk legend Phil hyy yeah or is this a Phil lash hockey card I can’t tell um yeah Phil Phil Howley had a a short stint in Chicago is that Bowman what kind of card is that Bowman card and I don’t mean he be named I mean the card brand yes it is a Bowman there you go um he was all right here end of the career typical Blackhawks move where you bring in a guy with not much left in the tank on a bad team and everyone expects him to save the team howy was another one of those offensive defenseman in an era where you didn’t have a lot of those um one of the best American born players ever that’s true that’s he is a when you when you have that debate not many people ever mentioned Phil howy he should be talked about more definitely very good player all right let’s finish things up look at that beauty number 18 in your program number one in your hearts Dennis of I love think get Savvy in here about to light up a wouldn’t that be awesome he he’s such a great interview such a great Storyteller I’m sure he’ do it yeah we got to do that we got to figure that out let’s go we know the Hawks are listening even here at the end of the show he’s my guy let’s get Savvy in here my my first jersey ever purchased I have a fun story about Dennis sard on two separate occasions now I have no relation no relationship with svard or the sard family on two separate occasions Dennis sard bummed a cigarette off my late sister always smoking that Savvy like what are the odds that the two times my sister and Dennis sard were in the same building like one was like uh it was a ice skating party and he was like the celebrity guest and then I forgot what the second one was but it might have been like prospects camp or something and twice my sister was out having a smoke in Dennis far’s like hey can I have one of those cigarettes it happened twice oh man awes I uh I met Savvy many many years ago at a he was the celebrity judge at a parody chili cook off I was uh taking part in nice at the Cubby Bear and uh the CH the chili cook off was at like 5:00 in the afternoon and then one of my buddy’s bands were playing that night at like 9 so we all stayed and it was like a like we were leaving at like 12:30 and he was still there just at the bar being Dennis SAR he’s a hockey player from the 80s he’s got the stamina I promise you that um Cubby Bear I had a uh Bud Light on the or can’t say that that inferior beer on the glass broadcast um with Adam burish and whoever it was if it’s in the city no one comes no one comes to after hours of like during the day like lunch break whatever yes but at night on a week night forget it six people showed up for me at Adam bur at the Cubby Bear so he literally just took chairs and did like an unplugged just sit around the table and talk it was awesome buris was a really cool guy to do those with um but yeah that’s that’s my Cubby Bear story and I don’t need any more thank you my nightmare was always John Barley corn oh yeah that I never had a good time there which one Lincoln Park orinal the one on Clarkville I never liked any of those bars to be H I didn’t mind Cubby Bear Cubby Bear going to Cubby Bear for a show was like for a band was good but really any of those Wrigleyville bars never well I don’t mind uh Bernie yeah cuz that’s that’s that’s like an old man bar and it just happens to be in rville yeah I don’t mind Bernie I didn’t mind Bernie G man Gman I love but it’s little it’s off the but that was also not like that’s not a big spot for pregame postgame drinking that’s should be yeah um it’s mine but uh yeah no but like uh The Barley corn up by Wrigley I remember I watched game five of the Cubs in uh when they beat the Braves in Atlanta is that 03 yeah you have a good memory Ty so like you know we went outside and like we’re all you know that’s when everyone was like gathering on on Clark and as there and that was fun I watch that college heartbreak tied to that place I I watched uh that game at Joe’s on WE Street our friends oh yeah Anthony says is Metro still there hell yeah Metro still there still there still and then the other barley corn I was I always equate that with uh Primal Fear the Richard Gear movie oh yeah oh yeah that’s right and ever the the other lawyer was the female lawyer is that Laura brov no it’s I it’s Laura D what whatever whoever it was the actress was like she’s like gets on gets him on the phone she like meet me at Barley corn in 10 minutes and like hangs on the phone and they meet at Barley corn and there’s a scene at Barley corn I would say no meet me somewhere else what a movie that is a great movie I’m going to say it again by the way speaking of movies from that era watch saving sack the ESPN documentary for the greatest Cameo of all time it’s I’m going to watch it I’m going to watch that it’s so good I’m probably overselling it I’m going to watch it tomorrow but you’re going to be shocked that this person showed up for a documentary about this okay all right we’ll talk to you Monday way over mailbag Monday is that thing it’s Monday it’s going to be we just invented it let’s do it we’ll send a tweet on Sunday night Monday morning respond to that tweet if you’re a die hard hit up our Discord put your questions in there wait for the prompt to ask your question because that’s where we can kind of find all the yeah I’m going to I’ll post in find the questions I’ll post in there Sunday at some point and just reply to that yeah that’s the easiest way to do it and that will certainly overlap into Tuesday as it always does uh Mario should be back by then so we’ll talk to you then have a great weekend enjoy well the good weather today tomorrow is supposed to be bad Sunday is supposed to be have three softball games scheduled for tomorrow figures I think we’re going have three rain outs but we’ll see how it goes three double headers later in this season well one’s a double header already all right we’ll talk to everybody on Monday on the chgo Black Hawks [Music] podcast like the May

  1. Every guest is saying Demidov is better, but unfortunately the Hawks will definitely pick Levshunov

  2. Steven Ellis is my favorite Draft-nik. He's awesome on camera. Smooth.
I can see him being a big name on a big network down the line.
Good on him. I like seeing people do well.

  3. I watched lots of tape.
Levshunov is not no 2 worthy. His shot and stick handling is mediocre. Hawks should be looking at Iginla along with Demitov.

  4. Ellis is one of my best when it comes to prospects and drafts, him and Peters seem to think more like NHL personnel. Obviously Bobby Mac is in hos own class but that's because he is plugged in with everyone. But the more i read the more i want Demidov, potential game changer not sure about Levshunov, i feel he is closer to Jones than Hedman

  5. That level of competition seems questionable to me… I don't think it's that easy to tell how Demidov seperates himself from the rest of the prospects playing foward, specially that we have not seen him with the type of international competition some of the others have been… It's a gamble at number 2…
