Former Wake Forest golfer Will Zalatoris discusses his opening round at the U.S. Open in Pinehurst.

you know it’s been a great three days of practice good warmup but just didn’t have you know I felt like I was thinking well just didn’t execute uh and when you don’t execute on a golf course like this you’re going to pay for it was there anything that uh wasn’t on par with your game was it just it was really iron shots some a few putting few putts a few putts but other than that I feel like I got to go find it on the Range a little bit with my irons and just you got to miss it in better spots out here again it wasn’t me getting greedy it was of me just not executing where I was looking and the the familiarity I mean is that does that help you hurt you what do you think I don’t play here enough for it to help I don’t think uh it certainly feels good to be home but um yeah I don’t think I know enough about this golf course where it could actually be an advantage this week how much did it change from Monday um a little bit it’s it’s it’s way more firm now um it’s going to continue to get firm I would think throughout the weekend and now do is there any plan of attack tomorrow you can’t really just go with the p obviously no I think you know if it doesn’t blow this afternoon it it looks like I’m probably going to need a nice round tomorrow so again I got birdie holes on 1 three and five to start um seven can be a bird hole so I could have you know if I have a good start I don’t have to press thank
