we got Xander just about to hit Patrick down the middle yeah left of the shot this the details of this t- shot Okay C yeah all right on player B is always better than that’s much better good swing there thanks you like the first one oh I I’m very familiar with it maybe a little different ball speed speaking of ball speed you’ve picked up quite a bit of speed in the last year or so uh you know asking for a friend uh how did you manage to do that uh just a a combination I started working with Chris uh he’s really cleaned up certain parts of my swing making it a little bit more efficient I think with a top position being a little bit more on plane and then started working with a new trainer David he’s been awesome just helping me with a lot of General strength um us golfers have a lot of you know rotational speed I guess and lower body strength so he’s just trying to bounce me out a little bit more that sounds like too much work for me I’ll uh I’ll just continue to hit at 260 um first time around Pinehurst I know you said you came in Sunday before the memorial so when you’re getting ready for a new venue in a major championship what are the key things when you’re out here in a practice round on Tuesday yeah I think first and foremost uh Sidelines are you know big on Austin in all IES really just to help us you know get our get our bearings you know t- shot a t-shot week to week I’d say the greens the greens and the areas around the greens are really tricky trying to see what kind of sand there is how it’s playing the green speeds uphill downhill and then how the greens are reacting when you’re chipping into them so a lot of stuff kind of around the greens is is pretty much where I think you see a lot of guys spending most of their time which is what it’s been like since I’ve been out here the last two days seems like a lot of guys spending time around the greens Martin kimer back in 2014 puted pretty much exclusively do you feel like you’re going to have a mix of both depending on the shot or into the grain down grain yeah I mean I feel the way things are trending I feel like I can totally see why why he was putting you know I I didn’t even hit a single CH I think I hadit a couple bunker shots on that first hole but pretty much exclusively puted uh when I had the opportunity to so uh I I mean the the photos and visuals I have from him winning are the course was much Browner a little bit faster and I think this course right now is trending that direction you’re somewhat of a US Open specialist I would say you’ve got a really nice record what is it about your game that you think translates to golf at the hardest level I think I just you know my I got a really good caddy I got a really good team around me they help me prepare week in week out and you know we prepare pretty similar for every week and I think that’s sort of what helps me with what would be called a harder US Open week uh compared to others and so I I think back to you finishing the PGA Championship 17 and 18 you were in that bunker on 17 hit a really good shot over there to the right and you’re your Technique around the greens you don’t have a lot of wrist set and and when you’re chipping off of Bermuda grass is that something like do you consciously work on not having that wrist action or um you know you got to pick and choose your poison I think you there’s certain matchups I grew up on the west coast so I wasn’t used to sort of hinging the club and dropping on the ball sort of like you know a Scotty or a Jordan um those guys grew up on grain sort of what we’re standing on right now so I say I’ve probably thrown a little bit more pick up and and drop on the ball um a little bit steeper attack just from living in Florida last year yeah uh it’s just you need you need speed and you need spin to play off grain and it’s it’s a a work in progress for me and I think moving to Florida has helped me with that a little bit any other adjustments with playing off Bermuda sometimes I like to stand the club up a little bit to get the he off the ground is do you think about that yeah we all love watching you chip out here it is it is a highlight re no no one will miss um but uh yeah I think tow Down’s really big thing you know you can go to 56 for a little bit more bounce uh you’ll see guys I think I’ve seen Colin he’s pretty nasty with a fivewood that’s kind of an old school play um that a new a young school or new school kid’s doing uh he’s really good at it Charlie Hoffman’s someone that I grew up playing a lot with and he was really good with the hybrid or 3-wood um but yeah 56 More Bounce make it your friend and then worst case just get really comfortable with the putter yeah exactly I’m sure you’re going to be spending a lot of time we appreciate your time congrats on the PJ Champion couldn’t be happier for you Damon back to you
