hi guys welcome back to the channel wanted to go through the next step in this process definitive guide to fixing your slice uh lots of different ways to get better at this game obviously a slice is making golf a little bit more challenging lots of reasons for this to happen so today I’m going to go through understanding from an understanding standpoint when we’re looking at the swing when I’m working with a student what’s their current understanding how do they currently move and then what drills are going to move them for that’s what I’m looking at every session okay so when we’re looking at understanding uh I got the trackman on here so with the trackman uh it’s going to give us some feedback on why the ball is doing what it’s doing if I’m hitting a slice okay just from a ball flight standpoint the club path is going to be traveling for a right-handed golfer more to the left so more minus on track man so more left than where the club face is pointed okay so if I set up here and I just hit like a little one so my path is left with a open Club face okay so when my path is left with an open Club face that is going to produce a shot that is more of a slice okay so when I look at this one we got club path at 2.8 to the left minus right so that’s a minus club path and then we got a club face at 2.1 to the right what does that make okay so when I go down here that’s going to produce you see that spin axis number of 4.5 so that’s a ball that is tipped this way for a right-handed golfer and is going to be fading or slicing okay so from an understanding standpoint we’re looking at what is going to help us manage that club path and that club face okay so I always say there’s no Mysteries right we got to identify the exact cause what’s causing you to do that in this series I go through a whole bunch of different ways that could potentially be the cause but first we got to understand what causes the ball to do what it’s doing okay so this scenario the club path is coming from outside the ball with an open Club face obviously you see that spin axis number of four right if I exaggerate the tendency so it depends on you as a player here so if I’m this way so this is a a bigger exaggeration right so obviously that’s going to be a really really big spin axis to the left so you see that M or that 31.8 de to the left that’s because there’s a big difference so my club face is 6.6 open my club path is 5.4 to the left you can see that ball is curving immensely and and then I look at impact and I look at from above you see that blue arrow is the club path at 5.4 to the left minus in 6.6 open Club face producing that 31.8 de spin axis that ball is definitely fading a lot okay so I go back to the ball flight here so from an understanding standpoint okay Club is traveling this way with an open Club face we know there’s lots of reasons why that can be happening okay so that’s part of this series but also what would it be if I just slowed everything down to build some Awareness on the difference between a club that is traveling this way okay and then a club that is traveling this way okay so from an understanding standpoint if I just set up and I say okay when I take this back I’m going to let the club come a little bit into inside this stick and when I come through I’m going to come over that stick just thinking about the club path first okay okay so that’s my adjustment to club path so when I look at that so now you’re going to see quite a bit difference right like that’s a 9.8 positive so from the inside club path so I did that you a small little demo exaggerating this okay as a side note to this sometimes if the face is open your brain will say if I come from here like from the inside with an open face I that ball is going to go right of my target okay so with an open face what I usually see players do is instead of so there’s lots of ways I can close the face I can close the face by going like this well that makes the face look Square okay but I also can close the face by letting the toe be beat the heel okay so those are two very different ways to close the face so if I’m thinking okay over this stick and then let the toe beat the heel in soft swings you’re going to see a big time difference in what that spin axis is now okay so I look in here I got the path from eight from the N 9.8 from the inside positive to the right face angle 7.1 open to the Target but you can see that spin axis becomes minus 16 so I’ve massively changed the Tilt from a big right tilt to now a left tilt just by understanding what I’m doing at impact and what the uh concepts are I always think you know obviously when we start to add more speed there’s going to be more factors in this but can I do it softly can I set up a stick have the club come from Over the stick to over the stick and then let the toe beat the heel just from a real simple drill to start to change the spin axis give your brain some Awareness on why the ball might be slicing it it’s sometimes hard people have a tough time to go slow usually when we’re doing this start slow build it up then once you start to get a feel you can start to add speed if you find when you start to add speed you see some different tendencies that could be potentially one of the other sort of checkpoints and the definitive guide to fixing your slice right cuz when I’m recruiting different muscles there’s going to be lots of other factors in that okay but first is do we understand why the ball’s doing what it’s doing I hope this video helps you understand that a little bit more hope this helps you start to change how that ball is curving again start small and then build it up from there if you want to learn more about how to take your game to the next level make sure you check out the obsess golf club.com lots of tools in there that we’re going to be coming out with uh to really help players uh improve their game super fun process for me love helping people get better thanks so much for watching guys
