Nolan Smith Added SERIOUS Muscle! Zack Baun EARNING Starting LB Role + Jordan Davis looks DANGEROUS!

The Eagles held their 2nd open media session of OTAs and Jordan Davis is without a doubt in the best shape of his life, but while he’s been losing weight, LB Nolan Smith has been bulking up. How will that impact his play on Vic Fangio’s defense? Also, CB Isaiah Rodgers was easily the standout after recording a pick-6 off of Jalen Hurts. However, he wasn’t the only one, as LB Zack Baun also came away with an INT and Safety Mekhi Garner picked off Kenny Pickett as well. Meanwhile, UDFA Shon Stephens created a turnover against Tanner McKee. Also, James Bradberry still wasn’t in attendance but Ainias Smith briefly saw the field. And WR John Ross can still fly, but he says he’s faster than he used to be. All those storylines and more from the 2nd week of OTAs.

okay another Eagles OTA practice so who showed out and who didn’t meanwhile Jordan Davis might just be in the best shape of his life with big plans in fangio’s defense and Nolan Smith feels the same yet despite John Ross turning back the clock why is he confident he’ll make the roster plus Jaylen Herz and really all the quarterbacks played poorly or maybe it’s just the dominating secondary as Isaiah Rogers made sure to put everyone on notice so just how high is his potential let’s talk about it but first let’s run it [Music] what’s up guys well the last open media session of voluntary OTAs took place and guess who wasn’t there James Bradberry with a former All Pro deciding enough was enough and he’s not going to put up with any more wait a second it’s still voluntary plus shout out to JB for hosting his All Pro Blitz charity event in Birmingham Alabama which is the real reason he was not in attendance however sure I would still argue that him not showing up to OTAs up to this point is at least noteworthy I mean come on the dude’s literally got a job to compete for or I don’t know maybe he doesn’t and how he’s already made up his mind to move on from JB personally youall know that’s where I’m leaning because there’s so much depth and youth on this squad that you really need them to get out on the field and get those reps now speaking of reps on the field Jaylen Herz got in some throws during the media portion of video access as did qb2 Kenny picket and as you can obviously you know very easily clearly tell picket is really outperforming hers you’re the best guys I’m going to say something right now look that’s about as accurate as the Kenny pet outperforming Jaylen herdz reports War last week because after all this is limited OTA work so maybe let’s relax with qb1 being in Jeopardy after like 10 throws from each guy of course sure it’s great to at least see the guys and now you can much easier since the birds added a new addition with a big monitor on the field to stream practice since you know it’s always good to work on your form and honestly whatever it takes to get better which is exactly what saquin Barkley and AJ Brown have been stressing to the guys and clearly taking on more vocal leadership roles while well Batman also helped New Edition John Ross get acclimated after signing due to wide receiver Devonte Parker surprisingly retiring last week now even though I’m not 100% sure he’ll make the roster it does look like he still got a lot of speed and quickness plus it’s not like Philly had a lot of depth at the outside receiver spot anyway and while I might be speculating Ross guaranteed he’s faster I haven’t lost a step um I’m still the same guy um even I feel like I’m better than what I was just because where I am mentally you know I think physically that was probably my that was probably my biggest problem I I’ve dealt with so many injuries and I mean sure enough you guys know you’ve heard um but I think what was hindering My Success was my mental um but because of how I was feeling physically you know so tying all that together I think it kind of put me in a bad place but where I am now like I don’t see myself in a bad place at all why do you think you’re as fast as you used to be have you have you been timed in the 40 or you said why do you think you’re as fast as you used to be I think I’m faster and I know that’s kind of be crazy to say but um I’m not feeling the same way I felt before physically so that’s why I say I think I’m faster and when I when I say that don’t get me wrong I’m not I ran 422 I’m not saying I’m 415 or anything but what I’m saying is um I just feel better so I think I can consistently be faster and I think that was my biggest thing like can this guy go every single day and look like look the same every single day and I feel that I’m getting to the point where I can be consistent with my speed and and to me that’s that’s the biggest blessing that I can ask for I love the optimism so perhaps he finds something yet let’s remember he hasn’t played in an NFL game since 2021 however it’s not like we’re asking him to get 50 catches for 600 yards or something like that I mean the hope is he barely even plays you know since the Eagles have Mr unguardable in AJ Brown who showed some of the other guys how to run routes and compete in drills meanwhile on the other side of the field it was good to see Kay Ringo on the practice fields especially with him missing OTAs last week because you know like I just said there’s like 14 cornerbacks competing for seven spots although for the record Ringo is a pretty safe bet to make the roster with that competition in the quarterback room starting with Andrew Deo sharing the seven on seven starters where Isaiah Rogers and Kea Ringo on the outside along with Tyler Hall at nickel and Avante Maddox and Reed blankin ship at safety of course like Olivia Riner pointed out the guys not in attendance were Darius Slay Devonte Smith CJ Garner Johnson Josh sweat James Bradberry as I mentioned and Lane Johnson also for those Kenny picket over hurz fans it sounds like Jaylen may have gotten the better of him with a throw of seven on sevens reportedly being a connection from qb1 to saquon Barkley oh yeah and then Kenny picket attempted to one up Jaylen on a deep pass to John Ross but was picked off by Makai Garner on an underthrow watch this what the heck are you doing again in all seriousness this is is one pass I mean one really small practice that we’re getting to see who knows maybe it’s a positive sign that Ross can still absolutely take the top off of defense yet it is funny to see how quickly people come crashing back to reality after one less than Stellar practice also for the record Kenny did come back to hit Ross again yet once more slightly underthrown but credit to Ross for making the adjustment to make the catch and then yes picket did make a couple other throws that turn some heads among those in attendance which is perfectly fine and in fact it’s a good thing to have a capable qb2 now the other defensive side worth noting is that you’re starting line backers for the second consecutive media session were Zack Bon and Devon white before niobe Dean eventually rotated in a little bit with Bon on the first team yet it was Bon who made one of the plays on the defense and shout out to Chris Franklin who said Bond broke up a pass to AJ Brown over the middle and then intercepted it no you heard that and saw that correctly he intercepted a pass over the middle I mean when was the last time we saw that honestly the middle of the field was just too easy to rack up yards so if Bond’s able to just occasionally make plays like this the Eagles D is going to be drastically better of course like I’ve said this still doesn’t mean Bon will ultimately start yet credit to Anthony deona for digging up this gem from Bond’s high school basketball day showcasing the dude’s insane athleticism anyway noobe will get his chances and even by getting back on the field today took a very important first step in that return however I’ll continue to argue out of the guys that Philly has currently available I’d probably still take Bond other than Devon white that is yet it was interesting to see during 111s that Brandon Le gon pointed out fangio rotated noobe and for white instead of bond oh yeah and then Jaylen also uh threw a second interception again a pass over the middle to 8 J but this time Isaiah Rogers turned it into a pick six flashing some really nice anticipation and yes it’s just OTAs but I don’t love seeing Jaylen throwing multiple interceptions however to keep this on an optimistic setting at least we’ve got the right coaches in place with quarterback coach Doug nus stopping to share some things with qb1 before getting back to drill work which is great but either way you can’t deny the promise on the defense because now you’re seeing the difference having dudes who excel in anticipation and the ability to actually take the ball away especially Isaiah Rogers who’s not only shown a knack for creating turnovers but also taking him back for six the other way as a 26-year-old shared how he’s been able to show up without any rust I just I just kept my schedule as if I was still playing you know on Sundays I use it like a game day so I do cardio and things like that I take tues dayss off as if I was still playing so I kind of still stayed with the NFL schedule and just continue to work and and just prepare for these moments I think it’s a mindset you know I I I’ve envisioned every time I worked out I envisioned the AJ Browns or the Devonte smiths in front of me so I think I just kind of locked in during my training and just knowing that when I actually do get back it’s going to be you know great receivers in front of me it’s crazy how effortless of a transition Rogers has been able to make after sitting out for a year of course sure slay wasn’t there so it’s giving him even more reps but like I said in the past video if Isaiah Rogers wins out for his starting job I won’t be surprised at all because apparently he’s also gotten faster I say I’m faster I think that’s the one thing I can say uh I worked on my speed this offseason I worked on my hands so I think just making plays on the ball is one thing that I definitely played a factor in throughout this offseason just building up my speed long way to go but I’ll just say quinon Mitchell’s path to starting isn’t going to be an easy one also the other starter during OTAs was key Ringo with the second-year player having not quite the same impact of Isa Rogers however he did run step for step with Paris Campbell on a deep ball from hurt that was nearly picked off and then Campbell did eventually come away with a nice snag on a different rep yet it was Isaiah Rogers who Campbell’s been the most impressed with just knowing him um and obviously seeing him out there um he’s not really missing a beat U you can tell he stayed in shape um I actually talked to him and asked him like they like what did you do for whole year and um he was telling me like he was trying to emulate his schedule as as if he was in the season U you know so he he would work out on Sundays and kind of take Tuesday as his day off and then kind of go through workouts as he was practicing and uh it shows man um but he he’s a he’s a skillful player uh smart instinctive um he’s got all the athletic ability in the world and um you know I think I think he he’ll be a great piece to the team obviously the two have experience together in Indianapolis but this is just another dude speaking up for Isaiah’s ability on the field by the way for those curious the rookie remained on the second team with both quinon Mitchell and Cooper de jeene waiting until possibly next week or even training camp before they’ll start getting some first team reps and that’s fine because really we don’t need to rush any things or put them out there too quickly still it was great to hear Dee registered a nice pbu along the sideline versus picket and I also can’t forget to show some love to udfa Corner Sean Stevens who picked off Tanner mcke to end practiced and ensure no quarterback finished with a strong day I mean no doubt Stevens has an uphill battle yet I can’t say it’s impossible for him to make the roster because much like Rogers and CJ GJ Stevens plays with that competitive fire and definitely isn’t lacking any confidence so I don’t know there’s a lot of guys you could throw in there but if vanio is looking for guys who take the ball away from the offense then maybe he’d lean that way it’s high what about getting after the quarterback how how big is that for you hi high it’s high how about not letting the other team score’s that kind right that’s number one that’s the highest that’s great but we all know it’s a marriage between the secondary and the pass rush so why don’t we talk about the D line as Jordan Davis led the group in warm-up drills and why are we talking about that except for the fact that on second look it’s fair to say JD looks like he’s in much better shape than last season something Nolan Smith can certainly vouch for if you can’t tell that boy look good he nice and slim he running around he doing box drills like it’s nothing and the Box drill really I told him it’s like a linebacker drill like we coach wash makes us do it just cuz we’re all linebackers DN but them big boys be doing it and I couldn’t be more proud of them just because it’s not an easy drill especially if you you go out there and do it right now I bet you you would die so it yeah and then imagine doing four sets of it five dots you got to touch everyone and finish through so I just appreciate I just appreciate the work that they do because it done bring us all closer like if you work hard and you sweat together you connect together and then you play together look I know the annual Jordan Davis weight analysis can get old and it’s more about proving it to you really than saying anything however the dancing bear did prove it during 111s as he registered a sack on Jaylen granted just a reminder that it’s without pads so let’s just make sure to take everything with a grain of salt but he was giving Tyler Steen some trouble who got the start at Right Guard and honestly even though JD probably isn’t going to ever put up Gody pass rush numbers he’s about to have his best chance ever this season obviously you know stepping into a much larger role than I was last year and um you know I know what’s expected of me but um in terms of just being in my best shape I’m getting in the best condition of my life so um that’s just not from me that’s from top down from the D line that’s the standard that we demand from each other so U if you look over there practice we working we running we getting after it so um definitely you know we can always improve I’m not going to sit there and stop I’m not comfortable where I’m at but I’m definitely you know improving definitely improving as a pass rusher how are you now compared to the best off I’m improving and I’m loving it um even now it’s just um knowing the detail like I said coach Clint man he’s all about the details you always um we spend a lot of time and even just us as players we spend a lot of time after practice like um the reason why I’m here late it’s cuz uh like a couple of the D line we stay out there 15 minutes 20 minutes 30 minutes after everybody goes in we call it Breakfast Club but we really late but you know we just spending time just working on our crab working on and that’s not us going 100% we not going Full Throttle but it’s just making sure that you get them hands right you stab lift and you make sure that you work them swipes and you want to make sure that you just little detail little nuances that come with it and um if you doing in the group you know it started out with just two now it’s like 3 four five so you know um I guess going to you in terms of the leadership you know it’s not really a set leader but you know we try to lead by example we try to pull everybody along we always have a saying um I can’t climb if my brother’s falling so if everybody else is getting better then we getting better as a unit I’m curious if you were to set the over under for JD on Sachs this season what would you go with again I’m excited about fangio but also the new addition of dline Coach Clint hurt should really result in big dividends since he’s coached up interior guys especially in a pass rush add that to the way fangio’s mentioned he plans on using Jaylen Carter and the Bradman being in really good shape and there’s only so many offensive linemen to block these dudes plus it was great to see after Jaylen Carter prays fangio’s Persona that his counterpart feels the same way no and I hope y’all can believe that out but um like it’s really no BS with him it’s straight ball um you know some people like it For Better or For Worse I play with all coaches um from high school college I mean Cory Smart’s the worst of the worst so not the worst of the worst but he’s I mean you know you going to he’s old school you get what suspecting on you know it’s a job to do you got to do your job if you don’t do it then it’s a it’s a miss so um you know it’s even from like coach Clint like detail oriented if we mess up on the details we got to go again and it’s not just saying like you know you getting that extra rep you just doing it just to do it you’re doing it for improvement you’re doing it to make sure that you get it down you get it right and um if we get it right I mean you do it light if you do it wrong you do it WR so it’s either one way to do it and that’s just to do it correctly I’ve said this before but there’s just a different vibe around the squad right now call it optimism or a fresh start or whatever you want but the early returns are noticeable I mean even BG got in on the action registering a sack while going up against McKai beckon while Nolan Smith reportedly looked good and has added some significant weight this year to help with his power and durability and I’m just ready to play football ready to fly around um you know it’s a learning curve a lot of people think you post to come in the league and dominate and do all of this and that and I got the same dreams and hopes that everybody have for me else I want to get you know 10 plus sacks and do all of that but you know real realistically it’s a learning curve these guys been in here 15 years these guys been in here a long time and I say praise to Lane Johnson Lane Johnson taught me everything from getting my toes right to how I work what I’m looking for in the tackle and just different things like that I’m coming in this year 245 I about I about 238 last sh I was on the heavier side but I’m going to come in a little more little more bulky and it wasn’t cuz of you know people think my no I just want to get there just personally and um me and Coach W talked about it and he feel comfortable with that and he said long as I keep my speed we good honestly without even hearing that from n and it’s pretty evident from the pressure that he’s gained probably about another 8 to 10 pounds like he said so throw him into the defense that will fully utilize his athleticism and we’re back baby for real though I’m going to say Nolan gets about six to seven sacks but it’s good to see the promising signs early on the flip side not the greatest day from former first round pick turned Eagle swing tackle maai beckon as he gave up at least one sack and potentially another pressure now still plenty of time to turn things around but you can see why the Jets weren’t interested in bringing him back after allowing 12 sacks in 16 games and committing 18 penalties yet having said that I’m confident Jeff Stalin can work him into a serviceable backup role by the regular season so not even close to giving up on him yet and definitely not anywhere close to the level of concern Dallas fans have for the lack of a Dak Prescott extension or CD lamb or Micah Parsons which which really only got worse after Miami gave a deal to wide receiver jayen waddle for a 3-year 84.75% that guaranteed as Jerry Jones is realizing or maybe not the longer he waits the more he’s got to pay CD lamb but the most relevant part about this is why the Eagles are so much better at handling contracts seriously Devonte Smith got a threeyear $75 million deal with 51 million guaranteed meanwhile jayen w got the 84 with 75 million guaranteed yet when you look at their stats they’ve been just about the same level of production with Mitty getting 240 catches for 3,178 yards and 19 touchdowns while waddle has 251 receptions for 3,385 yards and 18 touchdowns again some people just have the Magic Touch and contract negotiations see how it’s done thank you very much sir I don’t think you’ll regret it you what I did you are the mask let’s just say kudos to Smitty for taking a team-friendly deal because if he had wanted more he certainly could have gotten it but the slim Reaper just gets it so why not give away tickets to his charity softball tournament on June 29th all you got to do is do me a favor hit that like button and then swing by for the Friday Night Live Tyreek Hill already wants a new deal with Mike Florio saying AJ Brown’s contract really raised the stakes which is hilarious because Tyreek literally just signed a 4-year $120 million extension 2 years ago I don’t know I get the market situation and the cap increasing and everything else but let’s just be thankful for the Eagles organization and the way they handle business which is exactly what Smitty shared as well I feel like I’m in one of the top TI organizations um you know Howie Mr L um you know they take care of us um you know anytime you’re in the building you feel like your family you don’t feel like you’re just going to work um you’re actually you know having fun when you’re in the building it’s not just go to work and then just go home you enjoy being around those guys and um the relationships i’ I’ve built in the city um I mean I wouldn’t want to be nowhere else come on not a surprise but to have the best wide receiver duo in the NFL with their mindset is something special lastly I’ll mention anas Smith did get in limited work on a punt but ended up muffing it and did some push-ups on the sideline afterward not great from that side but it is a good sign that he’s back out there also anas responded about a potential interview but he’s going to talk to his Camp so we’ll see and I’ll keep it posted but I’ll catch you guys on the live stream until next time
