those four obviously with both series tied up with pivotal game FES you know how I laugh out everything is pivotal but yes both series heading to a pivotal game five so let’s get going here moderators going to Korea in July so I had a parent meeting then I ate dinner I took I went to the driving range first time golfing in 10 months since I ruptured my achilles cuz I’m golfing this weekend and then I I clean the bathrooms yes so that is my new that’s my new normal when I’m not studying when I’m not uh doing Religious Ed and when I’m not um watching Kat GES and I don’t mind I don’t mind it’s it’s uh it’s different but it’s nice um I’ll talk about what I’m going to do in the show in a second but first I have to recognize a legend a legend a legend a legend [Music] thank you Carol for the $5 on all his players in Minnesota if you guys seen the see the footage of that but that’s awesome you got to chat with them um what Dolly said that’s pretty cool that is pretty cool all right this is what uh uh really shot got the feeling that their heart is with their kids in north central USA departure was not a surprise to me no that’s fair totally fair okay friends this is what we’re gonna do I’m GNA talk a bit about the coaching the coaching changes I’m not gonna offer too much just um just what I’ve heard and what I know and what many of you heard and what you know as well then I want to give you another perspective on the conect free agents we know we’ve detailed here and then connects after dark they’re nine ufas two rfas and I want to give you another perspective I’m not saying you have to take my perspective but um so stick around for that then I’ll do my mid show sponsor read and then um yeah yeah no I know that I know it’s you Gord I wasn’t sure if you if uh if I was allowed to say your name on here but since you are saying it then that’s fine yeah I know it’s you Gordon hi Murray chat about ufas and rfas are getting interesting yeah for sure we did it connects after dark on Sunday night on Monday night we went through all 11 of them um and with probabilities of staying but I that’s what I want to offer a new uh A New resp Perspective on it for sure so let’s start with the coaches so last week we got word that Jeremy Colton after two years in in coaching the Abbotts for Canucks that he was not going to return and this was interesting because I think it was it was Rick Dolly wall who first broke on Donnie and Dolly that he had heard that Jeremy Colton might not be coming back and I believe he was the first to break it about a week and a half ago so much so where um some other reporters tried to get clarity from the conects and the con simply said that announcement would be coming soon so okay so then that announcement turned out to be Manny multra former K player play three seasons with the Canucks suffered that brutal eye injury when he’s with the Canucks was with the cans when the Canucks were really good in 2010 2011 then after he retired from playing he actually coached for five years with the Canucks then did the last four years with the Toronto Maple Leaves and now back here in Vancouver and leading our Abbotts for team replacing the AFF forementioned Jeremy ctin so I think it’s a good move for that the ks bring in someone who and and I said that in my reaction Vlog too is not every former player makes a good coach some make better analysts I.E Kevin bexa um other nickos say what you want about him but he’s he’s he’s successful as well uh a lot so a lot of players go into broadcasting um other players go into coaching other players maybe don’t want anything to do with hockey professionally they just want to hang out with their family or their kids or do other business ventures and that’s like Eddie Lack and real estate that and that’s fine too but it’s always interesting and it’s always feels good right when a when a former player comes back to coach so now you have the sadin on the development team and you have Manny multra on the um U running the Avis for conects now too so having a very very important role in the development of our players so that’s great and I can’t my HRA sounds excited and I can’t wait to see what he’ll do with the Aver for Canucks and then and then we get news yesterday or Monday excuse me that Mike yo was leaving and it said they firstly said that the knucks and Mike yo had mutually parted ways and then I kind of joked around in my quick reaction video like you they say Mutual but one of them as God be take the initiative just like sadly when you like when you think about a relationship breaking up and you say well it was Mutual uh well it’s very rare that both people face each other at the same time and the exact same time they have the exact same thought they both say let’s break up no it’s always one person has to initiate and then one person has to not reciprocate and then that’s how kind of mutual parting of the ways happens well we found out later that it sounds like the Canucks offered mik yo a one-year extension to which he politely declined to explore opportunities and the rumor has it that he as gourd kind of mentioned that he’s going back East to be closer to home and there’s Patrick Johnson wrote about the the possibility of him going to Toronto to work with Craig Buu to be his assistant whereas it was the other way around before where baru was Mike O’s assistant in St Louis so perhaps yo goes to Toronto perhaps Jeremy Colton is looking for um an opportunity and we know that maholtra has replaced Colton we don’t know who’s going to replace Mike yo coincidentally it was rumored that actually I don’t know if the kcks offered Jeremy Colton a one-year extension but they offered him extension as well to which he said uh no thank you so I don’t know if the Canucks are lowballing these guys with their offers Andor maybe it’s truly an opportunity for these guys to pursue um other chances other opportunities throughout the league so um yeah we we thank Jeremy Colton for two good years in absord they made the playoff they didn’t go the deep but they made the playoffs for two years I think he did a decent job in developing some players and then uh we say thank you to Miko who did not run the power play it’s weird usually not always usually the guy who runs the offense runs the power play the guy who runs the defense runs the penalty kill but in Mike Yo’s case he ran the offense and the penalty kill and it was Rick toet who ran the power play so some word about the knucks and you know will they make one of the sadin one of the assistant coaches that would be kind of cool but maybe they’re happy on the development side so we will see what happens in the near future now I want to give you some perspective A New Perspective to think about on the ufas and rfas and you know I think the biggest now that media cleanout media Day Has Come and gone I think um I think this gonna be the biggest story is is the conu ufas and rfas and we detailed all nine ufas up front four forward Bluer Joshua lindol and lafy and then on D another four Cole fredman Myers and sidorov and then Casey the Smith and gold so nine ufas then two rfas Archer Sheila which I know I’m sure they’ll figure something out pretty quick and then of course Philip honic is is the big one as an RFA meaning uh we still have Club control over him for one more year but they got to work out a new contract for that year they could extend and go further than that people are scared about the term and the money so who knows so heroni is gonna be the most divisive for sure because some people say you need that right shot defenseman he’s a good right shot defenseman where else are you going to get a good top pairing right shot defenseman whether or not he runs a different pair than he’s he’s a he’s a top pair and look just look at teams that struggle with with right shot defenseman so I think heric gonna be the most divisive I think a lot of people like zadorov a lot of people like Lindholm a lot of people like Joshua and lot of people like Bluer but you can’t keep all four and you just don’t know what the conu priority is and then on d i i’ I’ve been saying I think Freedman and Cole are gone and then you got to take a hard look at Myers and zadorov and I think KC Smith is gone now the cap does go up 4 million from 835 to 877 but remember Peterson’s contract goes up over 4.3 million so the the cap increase technically covers P’s raise so then there’s no way that with $23 million left the con are gonna sign all nine of those players that I just talked about and then a new contract for Philip heric as well so some money’s coming off the books but not a lot like Myers and Heron’s old like all these guys old contracts are coming off the books but the connects already have what is it I’m just looking right now yeah they have 63 million $64 million committed already of the 88 so they only have $24 million to play with so here’s a thought Here’s a thought as much as I think the connects need to sign heric as much as I would love them to sign zorov and lyol although although those are G to be the two most expensive out of everyone else more expensive than Joshua Bluer and Meyers one perspective I heard on the radio that I kind of agree with is I think we are all getting kind of um um influenced by the playoffs what we would call recency bias because if we take a step back a more what they call a 20,000 foot View and and don’t get swayed by just playoff performance rather you look at the totality of their season it can go both ways and it it might change our perspective a little bit for instance we all thought Elias Lindholm had an amazing playoff he did he was more physical than I’ve ever seen him play scored some big goals so that’s why even though expensive even though he might be too much we some are saying yeah we got to get linol back but then you say well but he kind of had a really bad regular season but then you say but he was also injured so if we’re gonna be so hard on py or give py the the or go the other way let’s say we’re giving py the benefit of the doubt even though the way and I’ve talked about this before even though the way it came out at media day was a little bit weird if Pon was indeed injured and we want to give him benefit the doubt especially as 11.6 million player for the next eight seasons then we should give that same benefit of the doubt to lindol and we should give that same benefit of the doubt to definitely to Philip heroni now Heron’s down he didn’t admit an injury that was the whole basis of that that spat with Jeff Patterson but everyone says he was certainly injured that’s why he wasn’t shooting the puck as much he was he always had his arm bandaged up wrapped up blah blah blah so if we’re going to give py a pass or a little bit of leeway because he was injured then we should probably do the same for honic and if we do the same for honic I think as much as we don’t want to as much as uncertain I I really think and I agree with Thomas J in this one I do think Heron’s the most important player out of all the ufas and rfas I really really do I think lyom is a nice to have I think zadorov is a nice to have but you can’t tell me as much as we like him you can’t tell me that we can’t maybe you’re not going to find a guy as big as him but I think you can find a guy that plays like him and they’re talking about Brendan Dylan can you get Brendan Dylan in here for three million as opposed to zorov who might want five and then you save a couple million there so there’s all these margins that you can exploit you could say that Dakota Joshua had um so this one’s working against me Joshua had an amazing regular season but then I think his playoffs were just okay so then if you just base it on the playoffs you’d say did his stock go down that’s what I originally said but now that I think about it more no I think his stock is really high because in the totality he had a really good regular season so with anything you can pick and choose what you want are you g to focus on playoffs because that’s what we saw most recently and those games are more important or are you going to base it on an 82 Game season as opposed to a 14 game playoffs so obviously the the best method would be to take a combination of both and and and and they’re going to have to do that for every for every player like Ian Cole he had a he had a okay regular season he a bad playoff to me that doesn’t scream bring Ian Cole back on the totality finally and I I’ve see some of you mentioning in in the comments uh I think there’s a lot of trust in Patrick Alvine and Jim Rutherford they’ve basically taken two years to revamp this to revamp this roster and look in two years we’ve gone from the joke of the league to one game away from the final four so that’s pretty good that is pretty good um and yeah I I’m pretty confident they’re gonna do something bold they’re gonna do something unconventional they’re gonna do something untraditional just because they’re not afraid to act first they’re not afraid to act boldly and I’m really excited to see what they do and I I trust I trust this management because there’s only been a few missteps overall I think they have been being very good but yeah um on the second half of the show much like we’ve been doing I’m happy to take your comments your questions um about any of the ufas or the rfas but let’s wrap up this poll question and then I’ll do my mitro sponsor read and then I’ll get to all of you so I so I asked with both series tied at 22 what’s G to be the most likely final 42% of you saying Dallas vers Florida another 34% of you are saying Dallas versus New York so 76% of you said Edmonton versus New York I’m sure that’s what the NHL wants because that is the most sexy matchup in terms of star power uh star power from the Oilers and then big market in terms of the New York rosov out of the Rangers so there’s a few that are some of the more expensive ones we’ll be stressed about this offseason considering the ufas we have and all we gave up so much for lyom and horon but let’s keep in mind alven is in charge not bending yes it is indeed Patrick Alvine I don’t think cider is gonna shake loose yeah exactly Michael there’s just too many variables I think that’s a smart way of looking at it yeah I’ve heard that narrative before the Oilers have almost all Canadians and we hardly have any how much do the con owe it to Quinn to keep horon around yeah I Irving great question it’s it’s hard to put a dollar amount on it but it’s not hard to see that Hughes really likes heric I think that’s a big factor I really do I will take anyone I I’ll take anes who’s not a UFA um I would take a gel but he might be expensive um you need someone with speed and creativity someone who’s got to be able to keep up yeah like Reinhardt would be amazing on PD’s Wing but he’s going to be really expensive yeah I don’t know I don’t know it’s a good question yeah a lot of Americans all our best players are Americans all right we’re resetting here having fun so not undefeated or defeated having fun with Tom Clayman that’s the original honic annoyed man swervin Irvin man that’s right I can’t believe I forgot to bring it in swerving Irving man and not having fun with bester connect play in round two power play not scoring as often and should Ian CO’s costing us goals against do you think we have got past Dallas even with Demco gotten past Dallas uh that’s tough to say I
