Pro Practice with Cody Blick: Practicing on a Simulator

Cody Blick, looking to make it to the PGA Tour, overcame pre-season injuries last year on the Korn Ferry Tour by getting relief through practice in a simulator environment on a Fiberbuilt Player Preferred Series Studio Mat. Cody Blick looking to make it to the PGA Tour overcame pre-season injuries last year on the corn fairy Tour by getting relief through practice in a simulator environment on a fiberbuilt player preferred series Studio [Music] mat so when we’re out at tournaments or we’re at home practicing getting ready for tournaments I use a GC quad and I have my quad down on every show I hit whether it be on the Range on the course uh traveling to tournaments it’s it’s with me on practice rounds it’s every shot I hit is recorded that is what kind of separates I think tour pros from kind of your your everyday really good golfers is knowing exactly how far the ball’s going to go knowing you know whatever shot you’re trying to hit you know what shape it’s going to be and and you know to the yard how far it’s going to go you can physically practice that in a simulator you know you go outside and it’s hard to tell if the LIE is you know 1% up or down or above your feet or if it’s slightly into the grain or if there’s some de on the ground all those factors change but you can get your truly stock numbers on a simulator on a lie that has neutral Grain on a lie that’s completely flat on a lie that performs just like it will on grass and you can hit all your shots you can hit draws Fades knockdowns with every Club dial in your numbers you’ll have an advantage over your buddies have an advantage in the in the club championship and uh you’ll be ready to go so if I you know I’m here I have my nine iron we all know what a stock n Iron’s going to do I think it would be really cool to hit a shot a little manufactured shot see if I can hit a little draw knockdown nineiron I’m going to want the spin to be kind of right around 7,000 and we’re going to want to see that path out to the right and the face obviously close so let’s let’s see how we can do here so it should go about 140 145 yards so it went 142. eight which is perfect we’re just over 7,000 spin we have a club path that’s out this mat you know again it performs great I just hit a manufactured nineiron knock down chippy niron I knew how much it was going to spin because I put the practice in but this mat is telling me exactly what it’s going to do out on the course that is what’s so cool is that you can you can practice in here on this mat and it’s going to be so accurate No Matter What shot you’re hitting stock shot it’s accurate manufactured knock down nine iron it’s accurate and uh it’s it’s going to tell you it’s going to tell you what the ball’s going to do outside [Music]
