Justin Jefferson signs extension, Brou ‘adores’ Aaron Rodgers’ outlook | NFL | FIRST THINGS FIRST

Aaron Rodgers said he is 90% himself and 10% “unsure what’s going on with my body”. He also said that “if I didn’t think (the New York Jets) could win a Super Bowl and I could win MVP, I wouldn’t be playing.” Chris Broussard loves this mindset, and Nick Wright and Kevin Wildes react to the extension of Justin Jefferson by the Minnesota Vikings.

Aaron Rogers who is a prime character in my spin-off show hobble watch it’s like the Manning cast but I just watch people hobbling around or potentially I’m just saying if Lamar Jackson’s like ah 90% myself 10% who knows what’s going on with my body be like what it’s a major issue withar R like yeah sure okay Brew your reaction I mean I don’t like it I adore I adore this I cannot believe I I cannot believe that y’all keep sleeping on my f like cuz he head this way he never does that he really tricked it isn’t this how you want your quarterback talking especially a guy that’s already gotten a super and you know I’ve been critical of him in the big NFC championship games but the dude has a Super Bowl all right he has the clout to save this it’s not a guy that’s never won a guy that’s always felled year after year in the postseason this is what got me thinking they would have a great year last know because he’s all in he’s putting it out there he’s not like uh you look hey I’m 40 you know I’m going to go out there I’m coming off in Achilles I’m gonna see see what I can do I feel good I feel good but you know no I like the I like the him talking like this he is bringing all the smoke cuz we will replay this if they go seven and 10 again we will replay oh you were talking about Super Bowl you talking about MVP and you were the 10th best back in the AFC no so he’s put he’s saying give me the smoke now I’m not guaranteeing that he will be that guy but Nick I will say this I’m guaranteeing he won’t if he is somewhere in between the guy we saw in the last year in Green Bay and the MVP Rogers they can be good cuz they wanton they beat three playoff teams last year that’s three times as many as the Miami Dolphins everybody’s Wonder child okay they lost and with the worst quarterback play in the Le tce the worst quarterback the league beat three playoff team so okay I’m just saying I Like It by the way if they go seven and 10 I don’t think we’ll ever replay this because between now and then there will be plenty of other things a l that we will be he will get mocked here’s Hees for this Wilds what do what do they call me Mr consistency thank you wilds and the reason that I strive to be that yeah is because I I understand that I have a lot of opinions on here that people are like man do you do you really believe that like they think I you know that I’m performing or whatever and I think the only way to have credibility with the audience is to be like check my you know check my record see if you can find the tape of me saying the opposite of something or whatever it is I am consistent throughout which is why I find anything call me an idiot one time sorry I I apologize for that I I try to go doofus instead it’s less cutting um I uh doofus is less cutting than idiot but I I feel like with Aaron I’m going insane because I supposed to take seriously yeah him saying I think we win the Super Bowl I I think I can win MVP in the same interview that he says now this was to be fair you know the they recorded this 10 days ago so in call it May 20th that on May 20th he’s 90% yeah when he when he swore up and down in December he could have played and was proven right and that the only reason he did is they were out of it he defeated and defeat and so I so you do lose that is literally a tale as old as time which is if you consistently mislead with your words I am then going to give less credibility to your words also here’s the other thing he this is not we can say they could win the Super Bowl I don’t think so but at least that’s a realistic thing the idea that he is going to be the League’s MVP or the best quarterback in football is an impossibility that is not on the board now he’s not he’s not I don’t care what he does he’s not better than Patrick Mahomes but you gonna last year was a year when no one had outrageous numbers right and Lamar Jackson went and credit to him he play well but you know what if we have another year where nobody throws 35 touchdowns I just don’t I’m not saying he’ll do it but I’m just saying is that is that imposs why is it imposs it is impossible for a 40-year-old quarterback who the last time he played football was a down year for him with an offense coordinated by Natt Hackett had coached by Robert Salah that they’re going to be the MVP of the league I think that’s impossible wow Wilds he has over 300 yards in 23 games you oh now he’s going to win MVP uh Justin Jefferson just got paid League’s best wide receiver also now the richest four years 140 110 guarantee it’s the richest deal for a non-quarterback ever but still short of Daniel Jones money uh most guaranteed money among wide receivers uh Justin Jefferson at one a lot more yeah Brown too also uh well I guess Cooper cup won a championship yeah pre that on that deal okay huge deal the right he got it post Super Bowl oh so post there no that deal has no Super Bowl rings well yeah I mean on those current deals no CU Tyre got his new deal got his new deal so lot iack unpack what’s your reaction uh listen I Justin Jefferson’s best receiver in football uh he deserves the money if I were running a team this is not how I would spend it and I understand you draft a guy you develop a guy he looks like a Hall of Famer it seems insane and if the Vikings the unique case of they did just have a rookie quarterback so they have the money I understand all of that I think that you need to adjust team building based on what college football’s producing and based on what the market is allowing off like so I would overpay at offensive line yeah because they never come available in free agency you know what I mean like the best offensive lineman available in free agency are usually above average typ or or Tyron Smith case who’s a Hall of Fame player but older and injured like defensive it Christian Wilkins is a really good but not great player and he set the new record for his position because those guys don’t hit free agency wide receiver and wide receiver and corner to be honest with you are the two spots I would be like yeah we will draft and develop and we will see what’s available in the second and third wave of free agency because I think college football’s changed so much where they are not producing as quality offensive lineman the people who study this can tell you why better than I can and there is a surplus of pass catchers and guys guarding pass catchers and so I get it if I were running the Vikings and I was like Hey we’re trading Kurt Cousins and or moving on from Kurt Cousins would I have flirted more with the can we get more than what the Rams got for Jaylen Ramsey for Justin Jefferson yeah I probably they and they flirted with what Trad and Jefferson and trying to get Malik next yes correct so um your strategy is clearly like the Chiefs well that happens to be the case but they have Patrick Mahomes that’s the thing look I think what what they’re doing Kevin oconnell we know is from the Shawn McVey Kyle Shanahan tree and so I think they’re looking he at least is looking at San Francisco and saying okay they got Mr Irrelevant now obviously per is much better than that but still the guy that was drafted last in the draft is playing quarterback and they have a bunch of great skilled players around him and they are doing the same because they got Addison they just got Aaron Jones like they got some skilled players and I know they feel like JJ McCarthy can step in there and paint by numbers and do our offense or Sam Darnell who was just in San Francisco coming off the I’m just saying I I mean obviously I think they want McCarthy to be the guy of course maybe even probably even this year at some point but I think that’s their thinking it’ll it be interesting 5 to 10 years from now are we looking back and everybody’s like man they were over there’s a wide receiver bubble because there’s just so many if if the somebody’s got to be wrong is my point it can’t be the the the the draft Knicks that say there are nine first round draftable receivers in you know this draft and the previous draft there were seven and the one before that there were six it can’t be that and the wide receiver Market on the veteran extension is exploding those two things to me are in Conflict from a apply and demand perspective right thanks for watching 1. Nick is still b*** hurt about covid. Eventhough Aaron was right. So he hates AR

  2. Nick hates Rodgers because Rodgers refused to take the poison vaxx. That’s when the hate started.

  3. Be careful Nick. You were wrong about Brady and the cliff. If you are wrong about this one, I think you need to sit quietly whenever they talk NFL topics, no matter what nonsense Wildes says.

  4. "It can't be that they drafted 6 quarterbacks in the 1st round and at the same time the quarterback market is exploding." Yeah it can, because that position is valuable. If you don't have one of those guys you go get one of those guys, and if you have one, you pay him.

  5. They are talking as if Jefferson isn’t a generational talent on track to be in the conversation of best to ever play the position.

  6. Nick acting like people haven’t played at less than 100% before. 🤡

If he’s been 90% or 80% since December.. he could’ve forced himself to play if they were in.. and maybe he’s plateaued since? Really not complicated.

  7. Yoo I swear I hate when shows talk about Vikings because YALL OBVIOUSLY DONT WATCH THEIR GAMES OR KNOW WHAT YOURE TALKING ABOUT

  8. Why do people act like JJs grow in trees. WRs do, not JJs, not the Tyreeks to an extent. You can draft a Ceedee, an Aiyuk, a Mike Williams, there are guys who are good that you can replace. You can't replace the great ones though. That or it'd take multiple draft picks to find. As good as Jamar is, he isnt JJ. Injuries are a part of the game, no one is going to do what JJ has done so far. Chase had a chance not anymore. You keep the JJs. You replace the rest and fortunately or unfortunately, only the vikings have this issue. There are only a handful at most, of irreplaceable receivers.

  9. i agree with nick i always felt that paying WR so much is a fools errand because in the grand scheme of the game they are the easiest weapon to neutralize on the field and require other positions of there control to be good in order for themselves to be of use mainly the entire offense

  10. JJ had over a thousand yards last year while missing 7 games and not having a qb. JJ is the one of very few guys in the league you pay. He's the best in the league at his position.

  11. Eventually these high paid wr and QB will cause so much cap issues, the rest of the team will suffer and in return, the team will lose

  12. Y y’all hate on Tua n the fins?? I’ll never understand it, he’s had 4 straight winning seasons with the consistently the most injured team in the nfl. Also lead the league in yards last year btw

  13. Mr consistency who could care less about quarterback wins but crowned Chris jones the best defensive player in the league because of his Super Bowl rings

  14. Wait, so because he says he's 90% now, he couldn't have played then? By the end of an NFL season who the heck is at 90%? Guys play at 75% al the time. They play with casts on their hands and arms. They play in a bunch of different circumstances where they are far below "healthy"

  15. I'm a bit tired of this " the Jets beat the Bills last year" it's disingenuous and Nick won't correct it because it fits his view. Josh Allen beat the Bills in that Jets game. The Jets kept trying to lose that game, but Allen wouldn't let em

  16. I think Nick is a little biased against Rodgers on the field because of all the nonsense Rodgers spews off the field. Actually, it's probably more about his crush on Mahomes and needing to put down all Mahomes' competition now that I think about it. Anyway, I know everybody thinks winning is a quarterback stat–I think it's a more of a coaching, team mentality, and overall roster quality stat–but humor me for a second and just take wins out of the equation. If you go purely by per game quarterback stats, Rodgers is BY FAR the best quarterback ever to play football. His TD/INT ratio of 4.52 is the best ever of anyone who's played more than 16 games and it's a FULL TOUCHDOWN better than Mahomes' 3.48. That's basically 30% better so it's not a small margin. For every interception thrown, Rodgers gets an extra touchdown compared to Mahomes. You know who Mahomes gets an extra touchdown over per interception? Gardner Minshew. Rodgers also has a higher career passer rating than Mahomes, and both of those stats include the last two years he played at the Packers, where he either, as Nick says, had already fallen off the age cliff and started to seriously regress as a player, or, as Brou says, was mentally clocked out. So Rodgers including two bad years into his career numbers still has better per game stats than Mahomes. You can see why Nick feels threatened by Rodgers and why he feels he has to cut Rodgers down. The individual statistics don't line up with Nick's narrative that Mahomes is the best ever.

I'm not saying I think Rodgers is currently better than Mahomes, or that I think Rodgers will win MVP, but to say that the statistically best quarterback ever to play the game is 100% guaranteed out of the running for MVP because he's, what, a little less mobile than he used to be is ridiculous, and stinks of the bias from which it was born.

I am saying that Nick and probably most everyone else is overrating Mahomes. Quarterbacks are a figurehead in football and as any figurehead they get the majority of the credit and blame. Mahomes has had the best situation in terms of coaching and roster of any quarterback in the history of football. So he's gotten a ton of credit. Rodgers had a very good situation too, definitely not as good, but pretty good.

  17. 😂😂😂 What made zero sense was that the NFL every year had numerous QB draft bust yet the QB pay kept going up. The players that were being underpaid were any Superstar player who didn't play QB. Now the market is reflecting who should really be getting paid and that's the actual talent on each team regardless of position. Also that's hilarious that Daniel Jones is still going to get paid more than Jefferson. That in itself should let you know that the QBs have been getting overpaid. Only Mahomes actually deserves QB MONEY. Josh Allen should be getting paid somewhere around what Jefferson is getting paid

  18. Aaron Rogers saying that he could play last year qas not saying he was 100%. I don't get why nick hates Aaron so much for off the field things. Its kinda low for him

  19. Thanks for reminding me that my team pays Daniel jones way too much money in a segment that has nothing to do with the giantz

  20. You can absolutely have large amounts of "first round grade receivers" and the veteran receiver market be expensive at the same time with both sides being "right". The bust rate on first round receivers is fairly high. That doesn't make selecting them "wrong" in terms of process, it just means it is a gamble at a high value position.

  21. I don’t disagree with Nick about wide receivers having a bubble but to suggest you don’t pay a 24 year old who is clearly on hall of fame trajectory isn’t how this works
