all right we’re here golf the Bex the three swing challenge at my home course here in Pelle Vista uh came up a little short on my Approach shot so I got a little up the hill putt we’ve got the lab df3 putter so this is the brand new putter from Lab uh totally redesigned and uh basically the big thing is when you hold it in your hands the face is pointed towards the target so there’s no tow hang or anything like a traditional putter face is aligned towards the target uh let’s see how it goes supp to eliminate one part of the putting so got a little uphill it’s going to break a little to the right see how it goes looks I mean it definitely has a different look is a big Mallet has a different look to it um but overall I like the the the color and uh the shape is a lot better than the DF 2.1 that it replaces o a little slow this morning but overall I mean it feels crisp and solid it’s actually softer uh than I thought it would be but uh so far uh it’s easy to swing I mean it just swings itself it’s it it’s got its own kind of pendulum movement so you don’t have to manipulate the face at all all right hold two part three long today uh went a little long uh just kind of hit it up here came down the hill so we’ve got a little downhiller this is going to be uh kind of a little sensitive one it’s not the put you want this early in the morning all right well but I say lighting this up is pretty easy even though it’s got a short sight line I typically like a little longer sight line uh it’s actually pretty easy to line up oh that’s too fast oh it’s not it’s perfect oh man I gave that a little too much respect again I like the sound and feel it’s soft uh these mil grooves in here regularly give it a soft feel and it’s pretty responsive you know if you m Hit It or Not which it actually is tough to Mish hit but uh so far two really good you know two decent putts all right third shot here uh par five got got to the bunker in two but had to get out and here I am little kind of right to left but I do to the one thing that I have to remember with this putter is you don’t manipulate the face really light grip pressure and just let the club head do the work it’s going to stay Square to the Target so oh is that going to be no it’s too soft I’m just giving it too too much respect it’s still a little uh still a little do out here but really good feel the the face stays Square to the Target at all times taking away one aspect of putting and uh yeah so far really like this lab df3 all right so that was the three swing challenge with the lab df3 putter this is the new one from lab and uh a really great putter I mean the L angle balance thing is a big deal and it definitely works when you hold the putter the face stays pointed at your Target and lab’s doing something where they’re taking that out of the equation so you don’t have to worry about is the face aligned it is uh looks we’re going to give it a 7.6 it’s very untraditional uh non-traditional look uh but I do give it a little higher Mark for being much better looking than the DF 2.1 I thought the 2.1 was very big uh it was was kind of obnoxious to look at this df3 is definitely more compact uh the machine work all that the Milling definitely way better and uh just overall a really nice putter I mean you look at the sole weights everything like that you know there’s a lot that went into this uh the look of it though I wish the sight lines were a touch longer uh they do have some other options uh that you can get uh for Sight lines on here but overall I I don’t mind the putter I think it looks okay and you know if it makes putts you can get by a little bit of uh you know quirkiness for sound and feel I’m going 8.5 I think it sounds and feels really good it’s very soft uh I know aluminum putters uh people can kind of be on the fence if they love or hate the feel I think they did a really good job with these horizontal Milling lines it gives a really soft feel no matter if you hit it off the heel off the toe a little low on the face you’re not going to get a weird ringing sound which you could kind of see sometimes with mallets you can get some of that resonation that uh that doesn’t sound and feel great uh none of that with this putter extremely soft puts a good roll in the ball uh and no matter where you hit it you’re going to be pleasantly surprised with how it feels uh performance 9.5 it absolutely performs it is they basically say this is L angle balance it keeps the face pointed at the Target and it does it it’s not gimmicky it does what it says and you know it it’s it keeps the ball started on the line you intended to now you still have to read the Putt and hit it with the right speed but it takes one of the the one of those performance metrics out of the equation and that’s huge uh so it does work it does do what it says and the feel through the stroke is really really good uh so that gives it an overall score of 8.5 and honestly if you’re just strictly going on performance you just want to make some putts it’s definitely worth trying so that is the three swing challenge with the lab df3 putter and the other kind of cool thing the hole in the middle yep it can pick up a ball no problem
