Rory McIlroy Reflects On Importance Of National Opens, Bob MacIntyre’s Big Win

Rory McIlroy spoke to the media after the RBC Canadian Open, where he reflected on his own performance as well as the significance of Robert MacIntyre earning his first PGA Tour win.

a good week I mean three really good rounds of golf um and one not so good one felt a little out of sorts on Friday but um did a good range session and and sort of rectified it um so yeah I mean overall three three rounds out of four were really good and just uh that one disappointing one on Friday but overall um after a week off where I didn’t really didn’t feel like I prepared um as well as I probably could have uh you know it was a it was a solid week yes it does um you know going into a big stretch of golf here and you know you know obviously it’s not you know you want to come you know come to tournaments and try to win every single one that you play in but um I think to to build off especially the weekend here going into Memorial next week um and then obviously going into the US Open the week after you know it’s we’ve got a lot of golf coming up but um you know really really nice to see some good signs in my game this weekend yeah absolutely I think history and tradition uh and Legacy are a really big part of the game of golf and um you know this is one of the oldest championships in the world as is you know the Scottish open as is you know you know yeah the opens definitely mean something else and um it’s great that so many people golf Canada RBC have gotten behind this Canadian open and and um and made it really special you know it’s as I said it’s a pleasure to come up here and play every year and you know I’m going to keep doing that until they tell me I can’t come over the Border Bob and I aren’t you know we’re we’re separated by a body of water in the IRC but we’re actually not that far away from each other where we grew up in ubin and and Belfast so uh I can absolutely understand you know it’s a it’s a big culture shock it’s a you know compared to the place where he grew up in Obin um you know traveling around America it’s a it’s a different world and um some people adopt a little quicker than others and um you know everyone has to try to find their their right Rhythm and um you know it looks like Bob’s you know still figuring that out but you know it would be great to see him hang on and get that first PJ tour win
