it’s crazy how hot that fire still Burns for you yeah well I’m hitting it really really well like he classic really well I’m hitting it [Music] good foreplay presented by bar stool Sports we’re back second show of the week we got two interviews in this show I believe we got Austin ekro and we’ve got Willie Willcox who actually Willie Willcox was uh the second guest in the history of foreplay back in the day behind oi Schneider Jans I always that’s one I remember yep it’s exactly right that’s exactly right right uh I believe one of us maybe Trent Daddy I think it was Trent daddy who kind of busted Willie’s balls about wearing the pop collar and he was like yeah it’s for like skin cancer and we were like damn damn it’s shame welcome to the podcast game yeahuh yep exactly uh but we are back we’ve got uh Dan’s at the memorial I’m here in Arizona uh Tiger Woods is at Pinehurst right now uh Mr Woods was spotted Miner is obviously a very um accessible golf course it’s in the middle of town it’s in the middle of a bunch of golf courses it’s in the middle of a bunch of homes tiger was out there this morning I had my my good friend Scotty sent me a great video from the patio that uh uh we built of tiger chipping on the third hole or on the second hole and then playing the third Hole uh which just got the juices flowing I’m excited I you know Tiger Woods I think got probably the least amount of talk uh for his PGA Championship that I’ve ever seen Tiger Woods get going into the Masters every year it’s as hype hype hype Central as you could Poss possibly be and then the PGA it just didn’t feel like his kind of course we didn’t see a lot of good stuff on the weekend out of tiger at the Masters after he made the cut and then nobody really talked about him he made that like whatever double quad double or whatever the hell happened at the beginning of the second round and nobody really talked about him again Scotty had just gotten arrested the whole deal so tiger kind of got overlooked he has had some fantastic finishes here at Pinehurst in 99 he nearly won in 2005 he nearly won it’s a very flat walk overall considering everything else I mean everyone’s going to talk about the greens which we talked about on last show how undulated they are but in terms of the overall walk it’s kind of it’s kind of as flat as you could possibly get so uh tiger might get a little bit more chatter going into this next week than he got at the PGA I would say yeah I mean I guess it’s it’s would I mean you know the course better than maybe anyone you think it’s a good course for like this version of him I do and I do think it’s a good course for Tiger’s historic strength which is he’s one of the great iron players of all time you know I know that’s what that’s what a lot of the analysts always break down that tiger could shape shots he could flight shots my friend Thomas uh who’s one of the long long time caddies there at Piner one of my good buddies down there he’s told the story I think I’ve told it on here but he caddied for Tiger uh before the 2005 US Open like a few weeks before the open he didn’t know who he was cading for they just told him like some USGA tea times he showed up at like 6:00 in the morning and it was like tiger and his buddy cadd 36 holes for Tiger that day and he said tiger had the exact same yardage four times throughout the day it was like 168 or something and he hit completely different clubs and shots into every single one of those yardages it was like a back left pin he like skipped like a six iron Into The Wind that landed in the middle of the green and skipped to the back pin like a front right one from 168 he hit like a towering nineiron downwind that spun behind you know so he’s one of the great iron players of all time now this version of tiger how much he’s been able to practice all that we don’t know but uh he’s been driving the ball pretty goddamn well at the Masters and at the PGA uh he’s run out of gas as we know and he’s been a little bit you know Rusty because he’s not in competitive shape but but yeah I think uh I think if he’s kind of a Craftsman out there with his with his irons you know he could he could play a little bit he get something that leg might hold up better than it has at other places uh so we’ll see I’m excited that he’s there I mean think about how he’s taken this [ __ ] seriously he did a bunch of practice rounds at vahalla he’s there a week early doing practice I did see he was in a golf cart today so people love to see that uh at Pyers it’s a pretty easy walk yet he’s protecting that [ __ ] which we like to see so um so yeah Tiger’s making uh this is this is we’re recording this on Tuesday so tiger was out there on [Music] Tuesday this episode brought to you by our [Music] drive speaking of tiger a place that Tiger Woods has had an amazing amount of success uh mirfield Village you’re out there how what’s the what’s the vibe like this week big event at the memorial yeah big event start of a start of a big three event stretch um Memorial US Open right into Travelers I love this tournament Bush and I were were talking about it Columbus is really this area Dublin where the course is is super nice like we’ve been driving around and it’s been great Golf Course pure it’s hot it’s like starting to really feel like summer I’m excited for it I you know I don’t know if being right before the US Open I feel like it be it was better when there was a week in between um because the tournament could kind of you know there were some questions today with Scotty about next week and stuff that that didn’t really happen before um yeah we spoke to Scotty he was like uh he was like that mug did you see the quote he was like that mug shot’s not going anywhere anytime soon he like I was like yeah well we sort sold a lot of t-shirts so thousands of them thousands of t-shirts so that’s how he um he also calls it Lewisville which I thought was astounding nobody I learned when we were there that nobody unless you’re really from there says it properly properly and that’s like we all kind of say Louisville but like I don’t know that that even right I think it’s like Louisville like you really definely not Louisville not Lewisville Lewisville is almost like I kind of respect that that’s you know like he’s saying it like such an [ __ ] that I kind of respect it uh but yeah I I I don’t know that many people do say it properly when you meet a local from Louisville that’s the closest I’m going to get they say it in such a perfect tongue that you’re like oh all right I’m not even close even if I’m trying yeah it’s got like a little dialect of its own um I remember that we listening to all the uh announcers and seeing how they did like Scott Van Pelt throughout the week I thought he did a pretty good job but again we all kind of Mumble our way through it I feel like yeah no it’s it’s definitely not the easiest word in the world to say um but yeah Scotty’s free man now which is nice he was up there he was answering questions about it and he was kind of like stop asking me questions about it his agent wasn’t happy about it but I feel like those are fair questions like it’s the first time we’ve we’ve spoken to him since then there are they are and but I think after this it should be done right I mean the charges were dropped it’s nothing I mean it is always on the table I would say to a degree because of how newsworthy it was I mean that that might go down to the end of the year is one of the biggest Sports stories of the year I mean so you kind of got to ask the guy about it after new news has come out since then like you got to talk to the guy about it I’m sure he’s frustrated and annoyed and you would think when the charges are dropped you’d be like oh okay like clearly it’s not whatever a big deal anymore but the [ __ ] number one player in the world who was right there in contention got [ __ ] arrested on the way to the golf course on Friday morning of one of four major championships we wait we wait all year there’s 12 months in a year only four times do we get a major championship four times does it really matter matter if Scotty wins or not four times he gets a chance to to win a career Grand Slam which no one’s ever done in history to the point where I was almost gonna DK partner put some money on that and then that got derailed by him getting [ __ ] arrested like arrested and somebody had passed away the whole thing was just [ __ ] nuts I mean that’s one of the craziest sport stories of all time let alone this year so yeah he’s going to get asked about it it was yeah I mean it’s one of those things we’re looking back at it’s just it’s the I cannot believe that it happened I’m interested to see him at at pinhurst he was saying that he’ never been there before he just looked at the he watched the flyover video there’s some good ones that are starting to surface it’s fun fun to know that those guys watch those things um yeah it’ll be interesting to see Scott I mean you know a lot a lot of people are gonna say oh putting putting you think everyone will putt because they were who is it saying I think it was Fleetwood was saying that like it’s less grainy now or they’ve done some sort of differences where it’s like a little easier to chip do you think guys will will be chipping it very much it does depend a little bit on in my opinion like rain and length of the grass cuz if there’s a little bit of like grass then it’s much much easier to chip versus if it’s like browned out and firm and that tangly like Bermuda e like you can’t really rely on chipping especially with how precise you have to be because those balls will either just come right back to your feet or you’ll chip it off the other side of the green and you’re just playing pink K back and forth so yeah I mean plenty of guys chipped in 2014 it’s just the guy that won by a million didn’t chip the entire week so you you know you kind of have you do have the option I think you’ll see some Fairway woods and hybrids and stuff that guys will kind of bump up there uh I’ve never like I was even in a position yesterday where I was thinking about doing that played this golf course where I filmed every shot which had like it was basically just burned out and in Arizona this time of year especially even on the good courses like they kind of start to Let It Go they’re going to oversee in a few months anyways it’s like not Prime season you might as well you got a you got a certain water budget that you got so you don’t really use it and then you’re going to scalp the course in a few months anyways but I played this track yesterday that was the guy in the Pro Shop was super nice uh was telling me all about the place got new ownership but there were many many patches of the course where there was literally no grass and I had like on a part like legit dirt with like cracks in it stuff and I’m in the Fairway and I had like on a par five I had like 40 yards in or something on a down slope and I was like there’s literally no human on earth that could hit like a good wedge from this standpoint so I puted it and I was thinking I pulled out my whole point in this whole story is I pulled out my fivewood to hit it but then I was thinking like the chances of me hitting this fivewood properly on a putting motion are so slim because I never ever ever do it I don’t know how hard to hit it I don’t know like I’m worried that I’m gonna because it’s got a little bit of Loft on it I’m worried that I’m gonna hit the ground first it’s not going to go anywhere I’m worried that I’m going to Bone it 50 yards over the green like it’s a tricky little shot if you’re not doing it all the time uh so I just kind of puted it which I felt a lot more comfortable with but the whole the whole point Bring It full circle is guys are going to have a bunch of different choices around the greens I’m hearing from everyone that the course is incredibly pure right now it’s in great shape and I think that the super there is going to have kind of free reign to do whatever he wants with the golf course I think after the US Open last year if people recall it was C of sort of the LA Corporate US Open um if you call the PGA this last year couple a month ago people were not overly happy about the low scoring I think the USGA and pineer have gotten that message and I think that they’re probably going to do everything they can to make this a really really tough US Open which I think gets people excited I think we’re due for a really hard major championship I think you’re right um we filmed something with with theala today and he was saying the hardest round he ever played was 2019 um US amateur at number two I don’t think a sing he said not a single person broke par that Golf Course man if again if they can get the greens how they want them it is there’s just nowhere to hit the ball and that’s that’s tough on a golf course it’s like they’re going to use all kinds of great metaphors in the in the coverage you know they’ll have them ready to ready to go you want to call it hitting up on a saddle shout out to Trevor whatever you want to say hitting into onto the top of a uh bathtub a turnover bathtub like whatever you want to call it if they get firm and they get you know then it there really is nowhere to hit the ball on those greens other than the medius middle part of the green which is even if you execute that well which is not that easy to do you’re not gonna have a very good look for birdie and you’re gonna have to kind of tart your way around so that part could be really difficult if they do get some rain these guys are so good and there’s really no rough it like they’re going to be able to fire at some pins and whatnot but man if they if it’s firm and hot and all the whole deal uh they can really get that place crispy and it gets hard as [ __ ] so I’m I’m I’m excited to watch it because I think like these guys have a like a reverence for Pinehurst even though most of them haven’t been there I mean not if you haven’t play if you haven’t been a pro since 2014 like a lot of the top Guys these days haven’t these guys don’t really go on golf trips it’s like not you know not something that they do I asked Tommy food he’s like you ever been a Piner he’s like no but I really want to play I you know it’s one of those courses where where you see it on TV you’ve watched it growing up it has a reputation as being like one of those courses I think it’s gonna be fun to watch this new crop of guys take it on I’m I’m really looking forward to next week US Open is sneaky US Open I’m going to say something that’s it might I think it might be my favorite major I really do think I might like it more than the Masters I last last night watching all the longest day in golf stuff was so awesome I mean Adam Scott 91 straight major championship appearances he’s you know he might not get in on his world ranking he goes and plays a 36o qualifier in Springfield Ohio he’s not in the memorial this week don’t think classic at that Golf Course by the way is that right yeah that Ross course there in Springfield spring a country club or whatever it is yeah great and so he plays 30 this guy has been number one in the world he’s won the Masters 36 holes and then they go into a three-hole playoff he’s 43 years old the Sun is setting on Springfield Ohio it was like there was you know it looked like the usam where the people were kind of standing around the green like 10 feet away from him it’s just you just don’t get that with the other M like there’s and there’s so many cool stories of guys who are playing it’s so you got like 80 guys who are exempt or something like that and like 80 guys or 70 guys whatever it is who qualified their I I I love it I absolutely love it I love that they have to go to different courses and learn new courses I love they know they’re going to get kicked in the teeth that’s why last you know I’ve joked about on the show I think that’s why last year kind of bothered me so much was because like that just wasn’t that didn’t scratch the US Open itch what did they get like a [ __ ] ninth grade science teacher qualified or something like that there’s some really cool stories it’s always crazy yeah when it’s the right course and the right setup I agree that I don’t know golf gets better to watch than the US Open I think the Masters is incredible there’s so much hype towards it we know all the holes inside and out so you know you can kind of go on that ride with each player um and it’s and it’s the best and it it’s awesome but I think there’s a there’s occasional year every five years or whatever it is where they play a certain iconic venue the weather comes together perfectly the USGA rides the line perfectly where it is the most fun golf to watch because guys can hit really solid shots and then just be off a little bit or be a little bit too aggressive and end up in horrific spots and then watching them grind their way through how to make the lowest score whether that’s a par or a bogey or whatever it might be is so different from what we watch week in and week out and on top of that it is so relatable because that’s how we play golf and yeah their course compared to ours where we’re doing the same thing is wildly different but I think of Dustin Johnson like are uh was it DJ or was it Brooks it might have been Brooks at shinok uh on that famed 11th hole that’s like they call it the longest part five on Long Island or the shortest part five on Long Island and he like hit it over the green into the worst spot in the world I think it was like Brooks like the worst spot on earth like it landed just over the green went down this hill That Never Ends into this like guny stuff he purposely hit it over the green into one of the front bunkers then hit a solid bunker shot to like 10t and hold it for bogy and you’re like that was awesome that like you’re because you’re as a viewer you’re standing there thinking like oh this could he’s going to lose the golf tournament here and he’s down there only 15 yards or whatever it is from the pin not in the water not out of bounds and he’s thinking like how on Earth can I make a bogey from here that is so IM unimaginably cool I love that and you’re going to get a good amount of that in certain spots at and I remember you know that year at shinok when Zack Johnson said they lost control of the golf course ryson had some kind of wild comment on clown golf clown golf when the wind was just Hing and people were getting murdered at shinicok um and I remember that one of the analysts I can’t remember who it was somebody made the point of you know there’s certain spots let’s say it’s the 12th hole and if you miss short right you know you have no chance to get the ball close and barely keep it on the green even though you’re just in Grass you’re just in tightly mode grass and people were bitching about it or players were throwing a a hissy fit or whatever and they made the point of okay if this was Bay Hill and that short right part of the green was just water with like stones and then just water and you hit it into that water and then you had to have a miraculous up and down to even save bogie nobody complains but if the course is so is designed in such a cool way architecturally where you played three practice rounds Monday Tuesday Wednesday you know that missing short right to this pin is horrific and you’re dead and you’re going to have to hit a miraculous shot even to have a two putt bogey then when you hit it into that spot how can you possibly [ __ ] at that point and I think that like the US Open is one of the only venues tournaments championships throughout the entire year where we really get that and it’s awesome yeah I listen I you know I kind of like when when they tow the line I like when it gets you know when the some players are are are complaining I think that’s not it would not be fun if every tournament was like that but it’s one tournament a year you know one tournament a year 70 even par is an excellent excellent score and like you’re going to get bad breaks and they going to be some setups where your ball and it’s just like you said it’s it’s a deeply relatable part of the game it is and like the the couple times in the last decade or whatever when people have bitched the most about the USGA blowing it with the setup I think about Chambers Bay I think about shinok like guess who won at shinok it was Brooks kka who was the best major championship winner of this latest generation and guess who was like second in contending it was DJ it was Tommy Fleetwood Guess Who at Chambers Bay when everybody said oh this that guess who the best players were at the end of the day when it came down to the wire it was Jordan spe who was having like the best year one of the best years of all time he almost won all four majors and it was DJ who three putted on the last who’s one of the best players of this generation so it’s like they could people could sit there and [ __ ] about it was unfair and all that well guess what the best players were able to navigate their way through it and win and just like they had on the other courses so I always find that like you know Nicholas said it best the me minute he starts hearing people bitching he knows that he has less people to beat I think that’s right so I’m fired up for Piner next next week I think you’re right it’s got this iconic aura about it um not just for people that are golf trip guys that go on like a little buddy’s trip and and and uh get to use it as a fun golf destination but I think there’s a lore to it I think the name itself is just iconic like Piner number two yeah it’s just got its own like yeah that’s a strong brand if it was called just like Greenville like you know I don’t know that like it would have the same gravitas to it but like Pinehurst the way that like you enunciate it the way the syllables come together that is such a phenomenal name and then the putter Boy logo um the little lad which is like the member logo that they use for the US Open logo the paint Stewart in 99 when they had the first ever Us open at Pioneers for it to deliver with Phil pay um he’s immortalized with what unfortunately the tragedy where he was lost at the end of that year it adds to The Lure of the entire thing they’ve got the statue and then there’s no course like it I mean there’s no other golf course that has greens like Pioneers does there’s just not a single one on Earth where every single one of them is raised I was watching a whole thing I think it was might have been your good friends at Golf Digest who do a great job with the every whole thing I love watching those um where they were talking about those are not Donald Ross greens like he made the original Contours but then over 100 Years of people hitting sand shots and sand just building up building up building up those greens have unintentionally turned into you know eggshells that are raised everywhere with huge runoffs and it’s become such a part of the identity of pioner number two that no one’s going to change him and revert him back and so now we have these iconic greens that are unlike anywhere else in the world so it’s G to be [ __ ] great uh I can’t wait for the US Open next week and this this week is no no slouch the memorial Jack the whole deal it’s a big event um I want to speaking of US Open one thing we didn’t touch on was the US Women’s Open last week was Charlie Hall going crazy viral for just ripping darts um just such a such a funny golf thing that occurred I mean uh she so we filmed some videos with her in the fall at tayor media day she had two of her like gal Pals out there with her that were [ __ ] hilarious like hilarious I think they were like boozing and hanging and like while she’s out there filming and they were going to they were going to Vegas like the next day that’s right that’s right and she was just hanging and she had incredible personality shooting the [ __ ] and when you get like Mel Reed up there all the time every time they go to Mel Reed read and say like hey say something about like Charlie hall or tell us a story she’s like 99% of my Charlie Hall stories I cannot tell on this broadcast right now which just tells you she’s got a lot to her which is awesome so I just laughed out loud at her going viral her answer was that like she’s ripping Dar because she’s trying to quit vaping I mean it’s it’s I actually do think you know I’ve had a little experience I actually do think vaping is more like more addictive than cigarettes cuz with vaping it’s like you can just do it anywhere and like no one really knows cigarettes it’s like you’re forcing yourself to smoke a cigarette you’re going to it hurts a little bit more you’re going to smell like the rest of the day you got to go outside it’s a little bit I’m officially updating my you know hypothetical of like the three other golfers that I want to go like a night out with she’s in there now she’s definitely in there so I’m going John daily Shane Lowry and Charlie Hull but Charlie Charlie’s officially in my squad now great for her brand all week which I which is hilarious her answer was very simple she’s like yeah I I really never say no at autographs I just lit up a dart some kids asked me to sign something so I was like yeah of course I’ll sign something she’s like I didn’t think anything of it next day I know it went viral so she’s great that was awesome um all the photos throughout the week of her just kind of out there ripping darts because she’s trying to quit vaping I enjoyed the hell out of it so she’s skyrocketed in my rankings um little uh live golfers to be in the field next week Bryson Brooks Dustin Martin kimer who won here in 2014 or one aters 2014 cam Smith John Rob Phil Mickelson Adrien [ __ ] and then two guys that qualified David P and Dean burer um so those are the live guys that’ll be in the field next week uh otherwise I think that’s all I got in the US Open well one more thing one guy who’s not in the field is walking Neiman um he played 36 holes he did not make it at the Bears Club we have a side gig coming out with him on Thursday um he’s number one in the in points on the Liv this year and he’s not going to be in the US Open he’s number nine in data golf which you know now did you see what Bowden Hammer said you know they were asking him about um potential for live guys to get like a pathway directly through Liv and he he very much did not say no he’s like we’re considering it you know like we have to BR for the future yes I wonder if like if that happened and they just said okay top you know what is it the top 30 guys on the PJ tour get into every major let’s say it was eight on live do you think that just like the floodgates would open or do you think that like that’s not really even a deterrent anymore I don’t think a single would bat and eye they go oh yeah that makes sense no but I’m saying like do you think that people would just go to live no in Mass you don’t think it’s going to change that much no I no just CU I don’t know if every major said that but even then like I don’t know top eight is no joke you know like you got to be in the top eight is not the easiest thing in the world and I feel like the big names now that would be in their own mind kind of a lock or a really really good chance to be in the top eight or whatever have already pretty much planted their flag yeah you know like I I can’t think of many guys that are in the top 10 on the PGA tour that like would really consider going to live at this point over something not small but like it would need to be for an unimaginable amount of money not necessarily because top eight get into the US Open right like I I so I don’t think it would really change much dander had some strong comments about J Monahan today see those I did not see what’ he say yeah he uh G find exactly what he said but you know he basically said like this you he he’s he’s criticized him a bunch in the past him and sort of Victor I feel like are the ones who have who have done it the most fine I’m fineing the quotes right now and he said all right here we go he said I’ve criticized Jay this is from uh the times of London I’ve criticized Jay in the past the fact is not once as our commander-in-chief stood up for all of his players and said this is happening this is where we’re going and protected us basically he didn’t take a stand when anyone left he didn’t come out to the public and face the music none of that historically in tough situations you need a strong leader who can make the big wav smaller and make us feel better about what we’re doing right now we do not have that whether I trust him or not doesn’t matter there are around 250 guys on tour there’s a lot of people to satisfy what I know can help and know is right is that we need someone to stand up in front of everyone and lead the charge whatever direction we’re going in strong we’ve said that we’ve said but we’ve said that before where it’s like there too many cooks in the kitchen and I like that someone in that position is willing to make those strong of comments and his opinions known I think that’s great I think that comes with winning a major championship reminds me a lot of Brooks kepka after he started winning Majors where he went from never talking ever to having a lot of opinions about stuff and felt like he had kind of finally earned his place to really have a voice so I love that I think that look that this is American baby like you can people can have different opinions you should be able to share those opinions people shouldn’t take it like overly personally he’s just asked about something that’s incredibly effect very much so affecting his future and his colleagues future and he’s had got a pretty strong opinion about it and I don’t think he’s wrong I don’t think he’s necessarily wrong my uh I had a good talk with my dad yesterday he was going in on Monahan and he was he made the great point of like he wishes that they just would have really galvanized around great stories of the players that they have and done more to turn them into stars because his theory is basically that like losing a John ROM doesn’t move the needle he’s like I’m nobody’s just turning on their TV all of a sudden to watch live because John ROM’s over there and he was like meanwhile I’m watching he’s like I’m watching these guys like uh like Bob McIntyre and his dad and he’s like I’m watching that going holy [ __ ] this guy is a star this is a guy that like if the tour could magnify everything about this guy and others like him and their stories that like they don’t [ __ ] need to even care about a John Ram or whomever leaving uh and you know he made some some good points about like if they would do better at that he’s like I don’t think they would have such an existential crisis on their hands like they portray they have yeah yeah it’s hard to make a star but I mean they’ve done a decent job there’s been a couple guys who have come in but yeah still talking about this unbelievable that’s all I got for you uh closest to the pin uh we got closest to the pin uh coming to you from our our um beloved iconic cinnamon whiskey at Fireball um look 50m Shooters are just made for people like us for the golf course you grab a 10 pack of those bad boys you throw them in your golf bag or whenever the car girl comes around that corner make sure that you flag her down you say hey we want to get a bunch of shots of Fireball it just UPS the anti it gets people going it gets the juices going it gets The Vibes going golf is all about Vibes it’s all about having a good time out there with your friends you really shouldn’t be sweating over a three putter this Pokey or that poy sometimes you are because you’re competitive you’re you know you want to challenge yourself all that fireball is going to help you let loose enjoy yourself so go check out the fireball 50 milliliter Shooters get those 10pack They also got the birdie shot club which comes with a bunch of them in there and just remind yourself that hey no matter what’s going on if we just take a shot of Fireball we’re going to have ourselves a much better time um closest to the pin big opportunity for Dan myself and Bush man uh because the other two boys are gone so Bush can you update us on last week and then um and then we’ll get going yep so last week first we we had a couple interesting ones the James web telescope’s distance from Earth on Friday at 12 which we had no idea I found out it orbits it orbits around the sun and it was 1, 160,000 miles away was that you Bush so yes that was me I had 969 th000 you were uh 12 million I was off yeah you were about 11.5 off you know once it’s a million miles it’s like what does that even what does that mean yeah and my whole if I would have known it orbits around the Sun I would have been closer I thought just been going straight away from us for [ __ ] four years straight um okay second one was highest temp record on Earth on June 1st so this was really hard to find but I have a buddy who’s a meteorologist back in Rochester who told me the thing the highest he could find was 115 degrees in Saudi Arabia wow jeda not that not that nice this time of year noted we were all above that Trent Trent won that his was the lowest with 129 wow 129 yeah we are at 13 40s yeah and then third was the highest single round score at the Canadian open and Trent got a two-pointer with a 79 there were a couple different 79 wow yeah Trent Trent’s just racking in points so this this week will be good and then unfortunate but Bogies are worse for Nelly cour at the US Women’s Open and she had 10 so Trenton was we had kind of forboding questions the last couple Majors we had Scotty’s uh Saturday score at uh the PGA and we had Nelly Bogies at the US Open Jesus we’re mushing people left and right big time she had that many bogeys and she didn’t even play all four round she only played two rounds yeah that’s tough that’s not included I mean that her seple or whatever it was for 10 counts one I know um okay and then final stats right now are Trent 37 Dan and rigs 23 Frankie 22 Alex 20 wow Trent Trent just has a [ __ ] to Wrangle a whole am of devastating Trent’s get at his job man goes to the pin big part of his job are we ready for today’s questions let’s do it all right Mr John ROM he did not have a has not had a good major season so far 45th I think at the Masters missed the cut at the PJ Championship obviously went to live golf in December he’s been top 10 in every single live event there have been seven his worst finish is 10th his best finish is third what does John ROM finish this week what number is his finish you know what place at golf club Houston are we just texting each other uh we just do it in that we have that chat that that’s going on where I texted you that we needed to get food yeah that’s a great idea okay let’s do it okay I’m in me too Bush man I’m in so rigs first Dan [ __ ] first yeah Alex third I’m bet on him too I’m gonna bet on him now you feel like it’s gonna happen this I me he’s go to I feel like he’s probably practicing so hard like he’s I think he’s going to get himself uh gearing up for the US Open I really do I think he’s going to have a good showing in pikers I think he’s going to have a good showing this week come on Robo um the French Open final is on Sunday the men’s final Novak jokovic who was a big favorite to win just withdrew with a knee injury um how many games total games will there be do a little math if you need to how many total games will there be in the French Open men’s final on Sunday so did he withdraw the semis and the other guy just automatically got through he so he won his fourth round match and then he withdrew in the quarter his quarter match so yeah that guy gets to gets a walk through walk over oh that’s unbelievable yeah so sick for that guy ah oh man all right I’m not a tennis guy this might be tough this was a little tough to do with the math but I think I got putting in a number and hopefully it’s not embarrassing that was yeah it was tough to do with the math all right Danny WP for 3 rigs 41 Alex 39 I mean it could it could go either way because if it’s like 63 in three sets you know it’s 27 but if it’s like a bunch of tiebreakers and it goes five sets it could be you know could be like 50 so yeah anything can happen all right next one Robert McIntyre has he officially withdrew from the memorial to go drink basically um how many tweets will Robert Robert McIntyre send Friday Saturday Sunday day during his Bender in om in obon h i mean you got to think like how how hard is he getting after it he does he does post videos and stuff like he’s he’s pretty funny on there so I think you know a little context oh man how often does he tweet in general you think he starts drinking on the plane you think he’s like I saw new studies out that that’s really dangerous drinking on planes apparently it said if you have a bunch of alcohol and then you get on to a long dist since flight that it’s a serious strain on your heart that’s not good because of the pressure and all the stuff or whatever but don’t be doing that Bob if you’re listening they say they say that about everything at this point come on they say everything I was gonna tweet about that like call I was going to quote tweet it and just write nerds but then I thought there could be some serious Karma if that’s how I end up passing that that tweet that’d be a tough Legacy for the rest of time T right freezing cold Tak of all time that’d be tough that’d be tough so I didn’t want to I didn’t want to sign my uh postmortem up for that all right last one hold on hold on [ __ ] we don’t know everybody’s um Dan says three rigs two Alex five wow to be honest no idea how much he tweets so he tweets a decent amount I think he’s going to be having a really good time so I think and you know people are paying attention so um all right last one Victor hland had a really rough start to the year um but finished solo third at valhall he was in the mix really until the 72nd hole um this is his first start since then what will his score be on Friday just to the number like not to part just total score on Friday on Friday feeling good about havin be great to have him back it’s way better when he’s around he’s funny guy you see he went to uh for the second straight year he went to the prison where they shot shash Shank Redemption because apparently it’s like no he does all kinds of weird [ __ ] doesn’t he yeah he like drove like I don’t remember where it was I think it was maybe Phoenix he drove like four hours to go see the Grand Canyon or something I’ve never even done that I [ __ ] live here he loves it listen he’s a world traveler I like it I do too we are in rig 67 Dan 69 Alex 69 okay all righty that is Clos to the all right everybody I think we’re done for the day uh ah yeah I don’t really have anything else I know we got two interviews that we’re going to throw into this show so that should be enough for us um next time we do the show we’ll be live from the United States open at Pioneers so I’m fired up for that I’m Juiced up for that uh enjoy these interviews hit it hard hit it hard also folks on the administrative front big announcement we’ve got new merchandise launching today this is lifestyle gear you got to live your life you got to have a little bit of style we’re going to thank [Music] you what’s up Willie what’s up rap it’s nice to see you again good to see you too I I saw you at the PGA but going to say I feel like we we actually hang out a decent amount these days yep so you a lot you came over and we uh ate Indian food yeah the chicken TI Masala I had actually had it two nights ago uh same company you were back in Louisville yep I drove through because I drove to Cincinnati from Alabama Alabama was a great location um to drive to a lot of these tournaments so that’s what I’m doing how far was the drive so you went through Louisville yeah you got our and then I play golf in Cincinnati um it was 8 hours which isn’t bad at all in my opinion what are you do on 8 hour car rids um listen to crime documentaries on YouTube not podcasts but YouTube videos you sometimes podcast sometimes music I get kind of just the mood sometimes it’ll just be quiet for 30 minutes yeah I’m just kind of like just trying to not let anybody hit me with their car yeah so you’ve been driving around a lot this year yeah big time I did um I should probably give a little bit of background uh will Willcox you played four or five years on the PG J tour uh you’re now caddying for sun JM if you guys haven’t watched the video will and I shot a nine at mine last year at Charleston mun we got into everything um is it annoying that like you feel like everyone’s going to start talking about your past like in this in this context like I felt like there when that happened I was like I should probably talk about the whole addiction thing you know the whole yeah situation no I don’t mind it’s not too bad I’ve talked about it shoot forever but lot of you probably have a lot of new listeners or viewers we’re not going to get into the whole thing nitty-gritty if you want to basically there was a lot of fun nights yeah yeah yeah a lot of fun nights some and a lot of nonf fun nights that’s true but I got it out of my system and uh now I’ve got sunj telling me where to go and when to you know when to jump so yep The Prince and handing him his te’s and I feel like you know some people are kind of Born to be their own boss I think you might function better with someone else being your boss 100% 100% it’s terrifying when I Hon my week’s off I’m I by like Friday I’m already stir crazy because I just don’t have any direction even though I am playing golf but I don’t have any you know real Focus sucks you’re saying just innately yep yep in life um in general but I’ll probably get better at it maybe I should just like go hiking or something well you’re still you’re still young what you’re 37 I turned 38 two days ago yeah so you’re still young you’ve lived quite the life you look you you know you’re the rare person who you look five years younger now than you did a year ago or two years ago is true that is true um it’s amazing how that works but so are you living anywhere right now or just with my mom I live in my parents’ basement and I’m proud to be down there why are you if I had told you when you were playing in the big that you’d be back in the basement yeah I love it now that I’m older and that type of thing doesn’t matter to me like if I was was 28 I’d be like oh my God I’m living with my parents like what’s going on but now that they’re in their mid late 60s it’s uh almost like the good son thing to do if you don’t have a kid or a wife so I’m just going to take care of them and you don’t have either of those I do not have either one of how has um it’s interesting for you because I mean not not a ton but a lot of the guys that you played with are still out there and you’re on kind of the other side now well you mean the guys that I competed against yeah all my cronies are gone um like I mean the r pack yeah I run it’s it’s pretty easy it’s Spencer LaVine Kevin Foley Jim rener Andrew Loop Steve Marino will McKenzie I wish F swing was around back then oh my God that would have been a real documentary that would have been funny yeah I mean like Instagram wasn’t even around yet at that point um yeah in you know Instagram really started popping in like 14 you guys got into like tournament weeks you guys would go out and yeah yeah for sure I mean especially on like Monday and Tuesday I mean we use Tuesday night as like the night to like you know kind of go around the city like in Montreal and uh yeah it was uh it was complete ridicul but a lot of the older guys were doing it too like in 2010 and 11 there was still a lot of shenanigans going on but not anymore at all what do you mean like why do you think that’s changed so much um money has a big thing to do with it um just that old guard that is gone I think the tiger era finally kicked in so guys they like fancy themselves as athletes as athletes and their bodies a temple and all that stuff you hear about more vegans than back then you um but but I feel like you’re happy to be out there because I don’t I don’t know that I know a person who loves golf more than you do yeah like you texted me yesterday or the other day and you go can you play tomorrow I’m dying to play which is like for a guy who played 5 years on the PGA tour and you’ve played God knows how many rounds of golf man crazy how hot that fire still Burns for you yeah well I’m hitting it really really well like’s classic gol really well I’m hitting it good I’m hting my swing’s on the best plane it’s ever been on it’s always been underneath the shaft when I get to parallel here when like the I’ve always been too narrow now I figured out how to not be so narrow so um it’s nice to be a good cadd and a good golfer and I don’t have anything else to do yeah so gol when you on days off not even days off I feel like you if yeah if suay plays in the morning you’re going to play in the afternoon yeah yeah for sure like tomorrow I we we’ll probably play tomorrow I would think no I mean Derek Smith Denny’s caddy uh let’s see um Willie will zalot torus is caddy that’s the best golf name last name stock is so tight yeah and he’s uh he’s he’s a great dude and I’ve never seen somebody that’s so uh Lean Like That guy is freaking ripped him and willly both have probably 2% yeah no no [ __ ] I bet he is under like 4% um but uh anyways there’s a bunch of guys and some good players Hunter hamr um he loves to play basically people that don’t have kids or no you know what I mean people that have a little less you guys group chat you know guys are all done at noon or you know 1 p.m. and you guys will just go play a little chase a on at like 3:30 yep and now that the days are longer uh it’s pretty pretty efficient yeah we’ll be done by you know we can play 18 and not that you want to walk 18 in competition and then walk and then ride another 18 um but we’ve definitely done it do you guys like cetch about your respective boss’s rounds after those or is it like a is it like a PJ tour free zone you can just play golf I don’t I mean I would say other people do but I just feel lucky to be there I mean I guess I might be like sun JL be adamant about a decision that’s just wrong and I’ll try to tell him no and he does it anyways and it goes badly I might say that but I definitely don’t um some people I just anyways I’m just happy to be there so I’m just like hey whe I just hope he’s not mad at me at the end of the day if he’s not mad at me at the end of the day then it was a good day um how did you guys cuz it’s it’s not the he didn’t play on the tour when you were playing obviously he’s Korean MH doesn’t really speak English how did that relationship start I got paired with him when he was 19 uh he was 19 in 2018 and I was like 3 you know three or whatever and um paired with him in what uh the final round of the tournament he won on the corn fairy tour in Exuma um and then I got paired with him the next week in Abaco um in the final group final round as well so yeah that was lucky to get to pair with him those weeks that he won um the money list so I did get we barely overlapped but uh okay so you did play with him yeah 2018 and then he just saw you out there cuz you weren’t you were catting a little before him weren’t you for lonto um yeah and uh but lonto let me go after the injury CU he was just you know soul searching and everything but and then um I did I worked for James Han a little bit and Russell kn in1 for one tournament but he finished 12th um and then you must have really said something if you finished 12th and you never got the invite back well I mean he was just in a transition and that was my first event to caddy on the PGA tour I only had one tournament under my belt yeah um a lot of reasons to not uh take me after that but then I just kept being scen kept showing up and me I have just having a really big Advantage um that everybody knows me already because you play yeah so I’ve got a massive leg up on other guys that are just trying to like you think they they have a certain respect for you because you you’ve done it at the highest level yeah yeah the players definitely do the players and and the caddies do too yeah um and and I’ve showed him that I’m here to work hard too so that I’m not people could I could tell at first thought I might uh having been a player you know have trouble swallowing The Pride or the ego or whatever but they’re very very aware that that’s not who I am so that’s when I I’ve been able to scoot Into The Fray of or the fraternity of catties so he just asked you one day he’s like you want to C for the US Open the US Open I was catting for Ben Carr at Lac last year and on Saturday he saw me in the locker room when he was grabbing his [ __ ] to get out of town and uh I was like yeah I want a c that’s a really good bag to open up yeah how much of your job is just eating it like when like you just got to you just got to take it I mean a lot quite a lot I mean if he’s playing well those weeks are a dream but but then just along for the ride the weeks you know like at the PGA miss the cut by like four um that’s a tough week miss the cut by one at the master that’s an even tougher week yeah and um but uh yeah when it comes to the wind and the putting you know it’s not an exact science so if he’s wanting to say the win wasn’t what you said it was um it it it does suck when I’ll be like all right SJ Left Right wind and then he’ll hit a shot and it’ll cut too much and then he’ll yell at me that I didn’t tell him it was a left right wind right you know and it’s just kind of like all right uh that’s when I have to eat it yeah when I have to go did you not hear me you know I mean you got is it hard with the language barrier yeah the reading greens now that over the past year of doing it uh he we’re we’re speaking the same language now yeah I guess he wanted me on like a 30-footer to like point by the hole where he wanted to to start like four cups right or yeah so I was trying to say one day I was like so if we have a 40-footer over a ridge I’m going supposed to say 48 cups outright yeah like and he 48 cups and he was like No And I said and he’ll be like no I he’d say read this 35f footer and I would point to a spot 12 feet in front of him and he’d be like no no no no no finish finish and that just makes your head hurt you know what I mean and then I’d be like all right um and walk up to the hole and point like way over there and then anyways that’s not how you read greens so now finally he’s letting me point at a spot and and it’ll be eight feet in front of him I said roll it over that I don’t know what to tell you if you roll it over that it’ll go in right and and they normally do um I he’s been putting great since we’ let me do the spot putting as opposed to do the finish putting yeah is there any part of you I know you said that you’re flushing it right now you play golf all the time you know you see it up close so you know what the stand it is is there any part of you that’s tempted to you’re still like I said you’re 38 years old you still have plenty of speed is there any part of you that’s like considering trying to play again or do you think that you’re kind of in this caddy world for the foreseeable future um I mean it’s so it’s such a great gig being out here getting all this experience um so who knows I mean I could definitely see myself playing something in the future you know just go ahead and get an exemption into a corn Fair event like next summer or something like that that would be kind of cool um why don’t you do like um uh van Ryan’s caddy yeah did he didn’t get through he didn’t get through he is a freakishly good golfer it’s like doesn’t even make sense how well he hits it from 240 yards with like a four iron well he’s a big guy he’s a big those you know those Minnesota boys yeah I saw he he had his address on the uh leaderboard at the US Open sectional it said something Wisconsin but Wisconsin but he went to Minnesota yeah yeah that’s where he played with Van royan Cor [Music] fed obviously the you know the highs are probably not quite as high because you’re not the one hitting the shots maybe they are quite as high but um is it easier in a way being you know being in the role you are now versus having everything on you oh yeah yeah I mean that when you’re playing professionally the um every facet of your life is affected by it bad rounds are really tough to take yeah you know when you go down this rabbit hole and it turns out to be the wrong move that you’re working on and now you developed this horrible Miss and or just your setup gets off my brain was always so clouded so like I I think I would probably do better with like the time management and the focus part of it now yeah um but yeah caddying is like easy cading is like breathing to me yeah um playing golf is like breathing to me but playing good golf is not like breathing to me you know just knowing what I’m doing doing it I don’t have to think at all um when I caddy basically um cuz it’s it’s just it’s reflex at this point so yeah when you when you have a job that is uh pays well and you don’t really have to it doesn’t feel like work that’s a pretty good situation so that’s why I think well I’m happy that you’re doing well I’m happy that sunj is doing well yeah so you I think I think you could be out here for like if you want to for like 15 or 20 years you know as long as you want it that’d be fine that’d be fine I mean the purses are 3x what they were when I was on tour so it’s pretty pretty cool yeah if you have a good year you can make like what you’re playing what you were making when you’re playing more it’ll be more um it’ll be a lot more consistent too um yeah I mean if you if I had like gotten through Q school last year and was playing full corn fairy there’s no way I would have made what I’ve made now out there um you know and you’re actually having hit the shots and you’d had to spend six weeks in South America yeah um not there’s anything wrong with that but how many miles you think you’ve put on the car this year a sh a shitload yeah I mean who knows but the rental cars I mean I drove when I flew to LA or went to the West Coast flew from Hawaii to um Pebble area San Francisco and then I went up and down the state I think three times or something well you stayed at kasara Port that’s right for Riviera what’s your what’s your review of of the setup on don’t don’t be giving out my [ __ ] address o OJ just G just giving everybody my my address OJ um we had a good week yeah that was a good week um I feel like I rarely saw y’all yeah didn’t see too much you had that little dog at the house oh yeah we were fostering a dog or no we were watching a dog for a friend blond the little little blond do it would get on its back and be like me me poor little guy had that cyst though he did have a cyst yeah hope he’s gotten that taken care of not I saw that sist and I said that cist is not my problem yeah for sure it is sad though do you think that you you’re we were talking about how you’re unique in the sense of you you played and there’s not many I don’t know if there’s other any other caddies who had PG T status that’s what’s Wild there really isn’t Lance 10 broke um Lance last call Lance rest in peace um he was uh yeah he was uh yes per Parov ex caddy for many years and he had like 126 to 150 status at one point and caddy for eser in the morning and then played in the afternoon no way yeah and so then the next day he would have played in the morning and then caddy fre esper in the afternoon unbelievable yeah and and I think he like beat him one round um but yeah Lance he passed away a few years ago um and uh but he didn’t have like a super successful career necessarily nobody’s had like a bunch of top 25s like I have right right so you’re unique in that way and you also you know you do stuff you’ve done stuff with us you’ve done stuff with um fire pit like you know you’re a bit of a known commodity do you feel do do people like shout your name out there and do you think that’s a is that weird with like sunj or is that weird with the other caddies CU I feel like the caddies are they’re just they’re a gritty B you know what I mean it’s a gritty bunch of guys yeah I mean the average age is going down of the caddies so a lot of them kind of like my social media stuff yeah um they’re all good guys yeah it’s it’s a great great crew of people out there and my social media is just uh is just me hitting like three buttons I trim a video and then hit two buttons and it’s gone in like 8 seconds yeah and then you nervously text me being like is that funny yeah and then I delete it yeah you’re not good at that’s my that’s one of my sticks deleting tons of [ __ ] if it doesn’t get numbers yeah pretty much oh man you’re deep down the rabbit hole some sometimes I will I I’ll leave some if it if I find it funny and it’s still and but it doesn’t do well I’m still going to leave it yeah um but I know now what all I have to do is just like hit a shot that turns a lot and it gets like a 100,000 views yeah you’re starting to you’re starting to learn what what the people like it is the easiest thing ever all I got to do is hit a ball that curves 40 yards do people yell at you out there and like does sun does that bother Sun not at all no he loves it he loves it um but it makes the other players um they’re they’re taking it back by always like what do you do yeah or they’re like are you from here or [ __ ] like had been on at Augusta oh man at Augusta it actually became a bit of a problem because sunjay was getting upset because I was acknowledging people um and when he isn’t making the cut he really don’t need to be exed yeah don’t be if he’s he was so pissed if he’s over let’s let’s make a rule if he’s over par yeah you don’t look a single fan in the eye no if he’s if he’s six under it’s happy days because now he if he especi if he’s not playing well it’ll be walking forward and then when he hears somebody yell at me he turns around immediately to see if I um that’s only if he’s made a bogey recently though um hey he takes it seriously I don’t blame him but but I got to watch my ass he’s what is he 20 26 he’s still that’s crazy to me that he’s still 26 he’s been playing for N9 years professionally so yeah he’s a he’s a he’s a prodigy through and through what’s he better at than you were um probably driving the ball and definitely Bunker play God his Bunker play is absolutely incredible he top 10ed in Fort Worth and it was just a clinic yeah I mean he hit the hole with like five bunker shots none of them went in but he’s got all the different ones the floaters the chunk and runs yeah I would say so and his his chipping can get a little one-dimensional but um but he doesn’t hit his like 175 to 200 as well as I did okay um but other than that he’s got me webbed yeah yeah well there’s a reason there’s a reason you’re counting for him he’s unreal he is absolutely unreal it’s awesome to watch the prince it is awesome to watch where does that come from uh just his mannerisms when princely yeah very princely and he uh when he wants something something he just puts his hand out yeah and I have to basically read his mind um which which I can do yeah exactly you know get another pillow or whatever there’s a fork under the mattress what’s the old tail you know the one I’m talking about the princess which she had the cutlery under the mattress never mind Cinderella C no with the shoe was the shoe under the mattress the shoe didn’t fit right [ __ ] midnight or something it’s some Disney [ __ ] I don’t know never mind the prince he’s a prince he is a prince I’m rooting for I root for him all the time cuz I you know he’s easy to root for he’s easy to root for and also I I root for you I appreciate it and so if he plays well then you play well if you compete in anything I’ll pull for you as well thank you so you pull for me in the podcast rankings that’s right yeah yeah I’d love to like keep up with that type when I had my podcast I would glance at it occasionally it’s exciting it’s exciting to watch I mean as you learned with the with the hit and you know 40 yard hooks it’s a do it’s a dopamine Rush but yeah I’m I’m I’m striping it so I’m going to keep having fun but you’re going to keep having fun I think you could be the next guy after last call Lance yeah to be the next you would do it too if you mondayed in yeah and and Sun J was playing in the afternoon you would still caty for him I think yeah [ __ ] absolutely I would I’m I’m in the best shape of my life there’s no getting your step count is probably oh it’s insane it’s actually pretty fascinating that’d be something kind of cool to do on the podcast here is it is it it’s it’s out of this world um you’re a very you’re a very mobile guy extremely mobile you’re just you’re always always got a lot of Grace the way you move today was 16,000 and then last there we go there we go look at the off week versus the yeah I know nothing so we go 15 16 a day 17 okay it’s not as much as it was a Kio Island so yesterday I got almost 18 so anyways it’s a lot well you’re thin as a row I’m thin as a do you remember you were apparently the second ever guest on this podcast I thought it was third but maybe second do you remember that interview yeah I remember the house I you were you were sober enough to remember that interview yeah ish when I remember what month it was of 2016 because that’s when it was I think 2016 maybe 15 um if it was 15 I was definitely with it 16 16 it went a little off the yeah yeah after after the Summer started I uh I made like 660 Grand by the players in May so I was just like all right I’m good yeah I’ll just spend this the next six months you FedEx Cup didn’t really motivate you [ __ ] no no no once I was top 150 and I was knew I was going to get at least like 15 starts the next year I stopped practicing yeah but I would I regret it and I wish I could do it again yeah um do you regret it I mean absolutely hell yeah how was how do you how do you deal with that it would maybe like make my brain race a little bit if I was playing professionally again be like man this is so hard I can’t believe I squandered it right um but I mean I now I haven’t really played at a high level in um six years so you know Can’t Let It Go by then yeah I would say for the first 18 months I was pretty pissed off but also that was the worst part of my life too so um yeah in 21 like I played on corn fairy in 21 but I was just there physically yeah you weren’t you weren’t doing the work no no well no range balls what you didn’t straight to the te why you just I don’t know I was sleepy yeah I was super sleepy well good I’m glad that you’re not as sleepy now cuz you have to be the prince will not accept late that’s why I love it no I’m I’m more punctual than anybody good well it’s February 8th 2017 oh wow oh really yeah W so 2017 that I played so bad that season so yeah I guess yeah so I would have been just about to go to Scottsdale and shoot a 77 and it was during Pebble proom week really let’s see I don’t think I played that one that year because I was still on medical so why would they have had you on just it was just on that well I had the ho in one in the previous May and I was still fully exempt on tour right so being the hole-in one guy I mean [ __ ] I had a DraftKings deal then she was awesome they put me up in the uh Lodge at Pebble twice and then at Pinehurst once and it was it was baller I wish they had hooked me up with the a week’s room next week that sh’s going to be expensive well you said you reminded me might just couch it might couch it might couch it I I guess there’s yeah it’s too far to drive to some flea bag actually I heard there’s a micrel um that’s like 300 bucks a night what does that mean uh just a micrel in Motor Hotel a I didn’t know all right I’ve gotten off the sorry no you’re good bro um well thank you for coming on it’s always a pleasure talking to you you too sir than we’ll get some dinner right now me some online clout I’m just kidding that’s that’s what really brings you Joy these days keep it light hard Seltzer Beverage Company Boston Massachusetts please drink [Music] responsibly uh you won the cognizant classic do you do you know what the word cognizant means um not sure no but I I know that it’s involving the company involves with AI I know it’s I looked it up I was going to ask if you’re the most cognizant person on the PJ tour because you won the cognizant classic I mean I think that’d be fitting but you don’t even know what that means but I don’t know what it means now you never looked it up you never thought okay this well I looked up the company okay yeah I mean I know it it sounds like it has something to do with the brain is what I would imagine so yeah cognizance being like it’s it’s kind of another word for like awareness okay yeah I think that I don’t think you’re the most cognizant person obviously not since I don’t know what cognizant um we are joined by Austin ekro uh 25 years old 46th in the world is that something that you you look at world ranking yeah especially like this time of year with the British Open trying to get in I was obviously aware of it but you know I try not to think about it too much when I’m trying to you know climb the rankings but in this case yes so you’re in you’re into next week I mean you won on the PJ tour um a couple months ago so you’re into all the elevated events we’re here at the Memorial tournament you’re playing it for the second time um you’re into the US Open next week are you are you into the British is that like yes yeah all right it was yeah top 50 by it was after um the PGA got it so before this year you had played um couple you played a US open you had qualified for but you hadn’t played the the Masters yeah I played in two US opens but you had you played the PGA did you play last year okay so this is your first year playing the Masters the PGA the British Open does it feel like this is I know it’s not your rookie year but does it feel like this is this is kind of like another rookie year because you’re playing on a the a tour so to speak yeah I think so you know obviously last year I was playing on that rookie category so you only get the you know the Island Tour and then um The Island Tour yeah that’s what guys call it cuz you’re playing like the Dominican Bermuda yeah um but I still got to play several good events but you know first year R the majors and it’s uh those events definitely feel you know special so you’re you’re born and raised in Edmund Oklahoma that’s that’s a very you know there’s certain golf towns that you see a lot Scottdale Jupiter Florida feel like I see Edmund Oklahoma a lot um growing up there was it and you went to Oklahoma state was it like you were always going to go to Oklahoma State or was was Oklahoma in the mix yeah um I grew up an OSU fan uh so I went to you know we had season tickets to football games and I wanted to play golf for Oklahoma State but early on oh you showed a lot of interest whenever I was um I don’t know why during my class we had a good class you know just around the country uh people committed when they were eighth graders and and freshman it was just like a trend yeah and so I had a couple wow you guys had like the football like you know I remember people committing to Lane kein when they were in like seventh grade yeah you had that going on I had like other buddies of mine that had already committed to schools and U was really shown an interest I was like you know I was thinking about where is Edmond in like is it where is Ed it’s directly in between stillw water and Norman so how far how far apart are still water and Norman about an hour and a half and I’m dead split in the middle okay so Edmund can go either way oh Edmund’s still definitely 7030 OU I would say really just cuz it’s a big you know bigger program bigger school um but yeah definitely I mean my whole High School is you know bedm was awesome yeah yeah I bet I didn’t realize I thought it was like I didn’t know which one it was closer to but I thought it was closer to one yeah no we’re well I live on the North side of Edmund so if you’re in central Edmund you’re probably closer to Norman but so it’s kind of like you know Connecticut where it’s like Yankees Red Sox yeah there’s a split down the middle so then you just decided you know Oklahoma state was where I wanted always wanted to go and yeah luckily they started to show a little interest and then you know I was lucky that you know I was good enough to play there but then we had some incredible teams all there yeah I was going to say you played on um I don’t know I mean it’s do you feel like it was the best college team I I think you could argue it for sure so it was run me down the the roster or like when you you guys won the National Championship yeah my freshman year yeah your freshman year so you were the same year as wolf then yeah wolf and I were moved in together the same time and then uh Victor was a year older than us so what was the what was the starting lineup the year that you guys won so the year we won was Victor was our one bag okay so FedEx Cup champion yeah FedEx Cup champion Matt wolf was our two bag okay so PGA Tour winner second in the US Open and I can’t remember if Chris ventur or Zack was our three or four Chris is he on corn right now or does he yeah he he’s he had PJ tour for a while but then he’s uh you know on the corn Fair tour now but he’s having a great year so he’ll be back out here soon and then Zack bch is also on the corner Fair tour right now so you guys said you were just a professional golf team and then we have our our six man that year a PJ Tour player Sam Stevens yeah and then uh Brennan jell is on the corn fairy tour I think of probably the 11 guys we had on that team maybe nine eight or nine of them are on the PJ tour corn Fair team that’s wild so was I got to think that like qualifying was I mean it was more stressful at home than it was on the road yeah to try to make the event I mean Sam and I were playing uh battling out for that fifth and sixth spot and uh we almost had a little bad blood but now we’re buddies how good was wolf back then he was the best golfer I’ve ever seen you think when you when he was a freshman did you think he was going to be the the best of you like was he the bestan obviously Victor was a little older and more accomplished but I feel like wolf was a Phenom back then yeah we were I mean going into school we didn’t know he was that good you know obviously he was a very good player but um I think it was kind of he played golf for fun and then he got to school and it was like okay this is a job now he practiced every day and it was incredible and I used to tell people I think wolf has the capability to be the best player in the world you know he’s he’s that good versus where back then Victor’s a lot better now than he was then but yeah you know I thought you know Victor is going to be like a Jim furick or like a uh a Matt coocher just top 10 career keep card and finish in the top 30 and yeah then Matt had the opportunity to dominate but obviously Victor has gotten longer you know bigger hits it further you notice the difference oh it’s it’s night and day difference yeah so you used to hit it past him yeah we’re about the same now and then I was definitely longer than him and he hit it so low I mean his ball flight was really you know firm and fast was definitely difficult for him and now now he’s a high ball hitter hits a far he’s changed his game a l you guys you guys still boys or is he big leagued you cuz he’s you know he’s big time no it’s funny I I was telling somebody this yesterday that someone asked who like makes me the most nervous to play with yeah and um what’s funny is it’s I think it’s Victor in a way because he was so much better than I was and now it’s like hey I can do this too and I want to show you you know and um but no he doesn’t big time we we’re still really good buddies was it um when those guys did they both leave after you guys won no wolf stayed year right they both stayed one more year okay and we were better that next year um we won the stroke play by 31 Strokes that’s it and then yeah that’s it and guys won the stroke play at the at the blessings by 31 in the like to qualify for a match play you guys were ahead by 31 yeah and then we lost in the semis to to Texas so who was on that Texas team uh both the Coe Brothers okay um did you win your match I did I played I played I played one of the coties wasn’t your fault yeah and then uh Spencer Chevron was the guy who won the point who else was on that team Cole Hammer yeah another big name who’s their Five Guys so they were money oh they were great I feel like that was when like you’re that year I don’t know if that was the first year that they put the ncaas on TV or what it was but I feel like that I mean college golf now is like it’s a it’s a serious entity it’s on you know even tournaments that aren’t the national championship are on TV was that kind of the start of it when you guys were playing CU I before that I don’t remember really hearing much about it yeah I think that I would always watch the national championship growing up just cuz you know I wanted to play college golf I think I think when we were in school with the 2018 National Championship I think I had such a good viewership I think people were interested in that and um you know I noticed that now with multiple events being televised getting sponsor exemptions in the PJ tour events that wasn’t there whenever I was inol you didn’t have PJ tour University when you were there I was the first I was the first year oh you were yeah did you finish in the top 10 I I finished third yeah okay so you got straight to Corn fairy for that yeah got it and then you got you left it late I was looking to get your PJ tour card I left what you like you left it late oh yeah so so tell us that story you you you played so 2021 you turned Pro or 22 2021 I turned Pro and it was that back half of the two-year corn Fair tour season because of the uh because of covid and then so I didn’t really play a whole lot because there was no chance I could get everyone yeah exactly so I played sponsor exemptions out here yeah and then um the next year I had with pj2 University I got into final stage so I had guaranteed conditional status and I played terrible at final stage and had terrible status you know and I didn’t start playing until Kansas City which was in May I missed the first half the season like did you play in Canada or did you play I guess it was Canada do started yet Monday qualifiers every every week and um I made it through one and then missed the cut so it was you know no good there but Monday grind is it’s brutal I mean I I know guys have been doing it for a long time and it’s It’s a Grind yeah and then um but we went from having no status to top 25 the next four events to keep playing in the next event and then uh finished second in uh Illinois and then you know had good good finish I finished 32nd on the regular season so I missed it by a little bit and then I finished 60th in Boise and missed the cut in Ohio and then finished second in Indiana and got my card so like I corn fairy finals doesn’t exist anymore but it was always I thought it was kind of cool because you took the sort of the top half of the Corn fairy tour and the back half of the PGA Tour and said go earn it out there you got three events go play good yeah so like how much did you were you up there the at the the last one where you ended up finishing second were you up there all week or did you yeah I played good all week and it was funny I was one one or two back with with like six holes to go and I told I told Stone I said I have no intentions of winning this golf I just want to make bars and you know cuz I needed to finish like eighth or better to to get my card and uh luckily I made par on every hole coming in and finish solo second just middle of the green middle of the green middle of the faway middle of the green tup move on so you knew you got it done yeah it was it was uh that was cool what kind of uh what kind of player are you how would you describe yourself as a golfer both kind of like you know X’s and O’s and then also like attitude sort of VI wise you know I think I hit the golf ball pretty well I think that’s probably you know the the strength of my game is you know I’m not the longest but I’m longer than average um I think statistically I drive it really well out here um Iron play is what I would consider as a strong suit but it’s where I struggle out here sometimes um but then I think I’m a really streaky putter you know I either either lead the field and putting or I lose three and a half we got we got to fix that we got I know well you’d rather be that way than you know middle of the pack so can you feel like after three holes you’re like okay this is one of those days where we’re all going in or this is one of those days where we’re going to have to hit it to a foot and a half to make a for sure there’s days where I step up on you know on the first hole and the stroke feels good and then there’s days I’m tinkering the hole around trying to find the right feel over the ball do you have one of these like uh putting coaches I do not know maybe well maybe I should have invested I was just you know I’m not I’m not a scientist here but yeah exactly I feel like tinkering during the round you know you don’t you see like Scotty these guys they get one of you you know interest in that I mean there is there’s obviously an interest in that um just haven’t haven’t gotten there yet you know if there’s two if there’s one uh you know takeaway from this four. podcast if I see you out there with a putting coach yeah I want a percentage okay all right does that work out yeah if it works um you guys kind of a squad and I know gups out there what uh where do you practice and and who who are the guys that are kind of out there yeah so we play at Oak Tree National it’s a fantastic Golf Course G upset is the hardest course he’s ever played it’s the hardest course I’ve ever played yeah and it’s 7 300 yards and it’s firm like it’s not like it’s long it’s just brutal and it’s not like you step up on the golf course and you wouldn’t think anything of it on how difficult it is uh then you’re on 16 and you’re at six overp this place is brutal yeah you come out here and you’re like this is a breeze yeah so I play with Chris a lot Quaid cumins a lot um Logan mcau these are corn fav of guys ring Gibson um there’s more Logan the one who had Jerry on the bag no that’s Quaid Quaid qu Logan has um laava Junior uh yes he’s he’s had him I don’t know if he’s still there or not he doesn’t okay I don’t know yeah um do you guys so it’s a young Squad all guys who went to Oklahoma or Oklahoma state do you guys think that because I’ve got this idea that I’m Loosely pitching around I want to have a uh a rider cup but not us vers Europe I want to have it be like all the different places where the golfers live yeah I want to have Team Scottdale I want to have a team Vegas team Dallas team Jupiter you guys would be probably the like The Underdogs maybe who knows but I think you guys are a bit of a sleeper pick like a sort of a trendy 12 seed yeah we could bring in our old veterans Scott verplank and Bob TW those guys yeah you might need some more Firepower they’ll they’ll be our captain I think team Jupiter is probably they’re definitely the favorite are they the favorite yeah they’ve got like Rory yeah Xander Tiger’s probably not even making the team if we’re being honest that’s a good Captain he’s the captain who would be the C you guys could have like I think ver ver Captain is he kind of the dawn of the of the Oklahoma scene I would say so but there’s a I mean what’s the oak tree gang back in like the 80s and 90s that was like a thing um you have to like con where do you fly out of OKC yeah do you have to connect a lot of times I connect through Dallas but we fly 26 places so there’s a lot of you know 26 26 that’s not that bad that’s not that bad so you you you think you’ll stay there or do you yeah I mean I definitely want to live there you know but I I have a place out in or I don’t have a place but I long Club in Scottdale and which one whis Brock nice that’s a good spot and then I’ll remember there now really Rick’s just got in nice yeah that place is sick you obviously didn’t know you’re not checking your emails about the I’m I’m bad at email okay and you know obviously getting a putting coach yeah so do you um do you go to Scott still a lot or yeah I I just got in this last season so I mean ideally I’d go um for most of the winter but haven’t gotten anything squared away yeah what are OK I know cuz like it’s funny that a lot of guys live in docks I feel like the weather in Texas in Dallas is like never actually that good it’s either cold or Mega hot that’s the same thing with Oklahoma is that right we’re about 10 degrees colder that’s just so in the winters it’s it’s like you don’t want to be out there no and our our cold is bad it’s cold and windy and it’s gray we don’t it’s just gross just cold Icy I feel like you’re going to be a scottd resident in the next years no no chance I I love love Edmond yeah you’ll keep your place in Edmond but yeah I think you’re going to be a Scott still guy you’re well my wife I don’t think but you can’t join you can’t join team Scott still no i’ I’ll always be team ad [Music] sure we are this close to crowning an NBA champ and with the action heating up on the court it’s even hotter at draft King Sportsbook and official sports it was just kind of out of nowhere you know my agent came up to me was like here here’s an opportunity I was like yeah let’s do it and uh she’s definitely enjoyed the benefits of of being with Michael Kors yeah spend this on Tom Ford button down Michael Kors that’s from a song that I can’t remember right now uh oh it’s you you o e NL you know that song I don’t I don’t know if I you know that song you don’t even know it oh I know that one yeah how we feeling um we putting in this we putting this in tomorrow how we feeling this week Memorial Jack tournament have you met have you met Mr Nicholas I have yeah I’ve met him a few times in the past um you know just random events throughout the years and um yeah I’m feeling good for tomorrow it’s uh the swing feels really good putting needs a little bit of work well it could be good could be could be good could be [ __ ] but it’s like that uh remember that soccer sometimes Sometimes good sometimes um get the US Open next week you had a good you had a good US Open last year yeah of course was a pitch and Putt but you had a good US Open uh the first top 10 in a major how was that week did that give you some Bel I mean you’ve been so good for at every level but do those kind of results reinforce like I you know I can do this on the biggest stage yeah um it was that was a funny week cuz I played with LOM the first two rounds okay so I was playing really good but I was just getting absolutely smashed by LOM um and then I just shot you know super low Sunday round and back on the front nine right yeah that was pretty cool yeah were you thinking about something special yeah you know definitely cross the line but I was that’s a hard Golf Course to to do the 59 on but um I mean relatively relatively yeah but it was that was a cool experience and like you said um you know I’ve been successful throughout the ranks but it’s different than you know obviously this game’s on this level is a lot different than what we’ve played growing up did you play 2019 USM at Pinehurst I did yeah I I was talking to sath yesterday and he said that that I don’t know if you were first day at number four I I can’t remember he said that the the hardest round he ever played was this the stroke play round at Pinehurst number two and he said and he shot two two over and like skyrocketed up the board yeah what are your did you make match play I did yeah I actually played pretty well on stroke play and then was cruising in my first match and I think I lost I think I had a putt to close out on 16 17 and 18 and missed them all and then I three putted the first who’d you lose to a kid from Arkansas State I’m blanking on his name um he’s a good player though well you’re here he’s not so yeah um you like that golf course I do yeah I’m typically not a big Donald Ross fan um but I don’t really feel like that fits the mold of a traditional Donald Rosco of course do you uh are you one of those architecture guys are you are you kind of interested in it do you like to I like it I mean I’m definitely I think that’d be something cool to do in the future um but I’m not well versed in the know the architecture world for sure got it well good that was fun it was good getting to know you yeah that was fun um Good Luck next week good luck this week thank you um putting coach remember yep think that could be something beneficial I’ll be doing research okay if you need recommendations and you’ll have to pay me a finders fee in addition to the percentage percentage Yeah and then I also think just as a kind of a nice thing you should just percentage of the winnings just yeah just you know just for fun yeah just for fun yeah we’ll give you a little logo or something you pay us and then we’ll give you okay work that works great all right thanks for doing it dud appreciate it wow did you hear that Rings touched that was sick

  1. It needs to be stated…that from this point forward anytime a player makes a 10 on a hole it is now called a 'Nelly'.

  2. Dan patiently supporting Riggs talk about tiger competing in the open like when your best friend keeps thinking her relationship will work and everyone knows he’s cheating

  3. Riggs, content would be crazy if Tigers just practicing and you’re up there chillen on your patio. He would def say “sup brother”

  4. I watch Christmas Vacation every year around Christmas, and The Greatest Game Ever Played the week of the US Open. Not sure which holiday season is better.
