The New Orleans Saints Are In BIG TROUBLE.

The Saints might be the most uninteresting team in the NFL heading into next season. They probably aren’t going to be really bad or really good — just mid probably. That’s been the theme in the two seasons under head coach Dennis Allen.

the Saints might be the most uninteresting team in the NFL heading into next season they probably aren’t going to be really bad but they definitely won’t be really good they’ll likely just end up somewhere in the middle that’s really been the theme with this team in the two seasons Under head coach Dennis Allen New Orleans went 7- 10 in 2022 and just went 9-8 last season the Saints haven’t made the playoffs since 2020 the season Drew Bree retired after they just haven’t been able to figure life out post Breeze and Shawn pyton it’s not a great Rost and I’d expect this season to be more mediocrity too aside from the Saints being a boring middle of the- pack 500 team the offense is also boring and honestly not very good the saint starting quarterback is again going to be Derek Carr he signed that big 4year $150 million contract last off season and was actually pretty good car threw for 25 touchdowns to only eight interceptions it was his best touchdown to interception ratio since 2016 that was all the way back when he led the Raiders to a 12-3 season but fractured his fibula in week 16 ending any chance of an MVP run car was on the Raiders for 9 years so it’s still a little odd seeing him in a Saints uniform Carr can be a solid quarterback but he’s not very exciting New Orleans has now taken a quarterback day three of the draft for two straight years last year it was Jake Hanner in the fourth round and this year the Saints took Spencer Rattler in the fifth he was the number one quarterback recruit in the 2019 class his best season in college was in 2020 when he had 28 touchdowns and seven interceptions as a red shirt freshman as we all know he then lost his starting job the next season to Caleb Williams and went on to spend the last two Seasons at South Carolina Rattler was literally the favorite to win the Heisman Trophy in 2021 and he was even once a highly thought of NFL prospect but for now it’s Derek Carr’s offense and he has a good wide receiver one Chris olve he’s had back back to back 1,000 yard seasons to start his career he improved on his rookie year in 2023 with 87 receptions for 1,123 yards and five touchdowns wide receiver two in Nola is another third-year guy Rasheed Shahed while L was a big- time first round pick out of Ohio State rashed Shahed was an undrafted free agent from Weber State he was a four-time All-American kick returner in college and last season he was a first team All Pro returner Shahid has made more of an impact than only on returns though he had 488 receiving yards as a rookie and just had 719 yards and five touchdowns off of 46 catches there isn’t necessarily a clear three behind Ave and Shahed it’s really just three guys who have been okay Cedric Wilson Jr equinus St Brown and at Perry Jaan Johnson is also there and should have a prominent role on the offense too he’s two seasons removed from a 500 yard season with seven touchdowns taste some Hill is still in Nola and he’s going into his eighth season pretty much fitting in wherever on the offense the Saints feel like putting him Alvin chimra is also going into year 8 to all with New Orleans he’s coming off of his Worst season in the pros he played in 13 games and had 694 rushing yards both career lows but chra was still a major threat in the passing game too with 466 yards he’s long been one of the top dual threat running backs in the league so I wouldn’t be too worried about him his backup is Jamal Williams who was a super fun personality he just had 306 yards and only one touchdown Which is a bit of a change up considering he was just fresh off of a 17 touchdown season in Detroit now outside of the quarterback and Specialty positions the Saints do have a pretty serious problem on offense the line they tried to fix it a bit at the draft using the 14th overall pick on toisa fuaga I’m so sorry if I butchered that name everyone seems to say it differently he was a 2-year starter at Oregon State in his fresh off of a first team All-American season the other first round pick on the line is Trevor Penning who has struggled ideally the Saints right tackle would be Ryan Rami but he just had an offseason procedure and it kind of feels like his retirement could be soon at guard Nick Sal dear was a fourth rounder last season he actually played at ODU so shout out to the 757 then 2020 first round pick Caesar Ruiz is on a 4-year $44 million contract finally Eric McCoy was a saint second rounder in 2019 New Orleans has put Capital into the line they’re clearly trying to fix it but it just hasn’t paid off at least not yet it’s hard to expect too much from Clint kubak in year one as the Saints offensive coordinator he was the Vikings OC in 2021 it was just the 49ers passing game coordinator last season now the offense may not be great but the defense on the other hand is much better it’s a top half of the league unit for sure the Saints secondary is the first thing that pops out on the defense New Orleans could really use a healthy Marshon Latimore he was once a top quarterback in the league but has only played in 17 games over the past two seasons ladimore was great in his first five seasons in the league he has 15 interceptions and 300 solo tackles in his career Paulson adibo will be opposite Latimore he had 60 solo tackles and four interceptions last season his third season in the NFL New Orleans did also draft walking billboard Kool-Aid McKenry in the second round he’s coming off of a first team all American season in Alabama at safety Tyran Matthew is still in New Orleans he’s entering year 12 in the pros his third with the Saints he’s played in all 17 games in each of the past two seasons and has seven interceptions and 104 solo tackles during the span 2023 fifth rounder Jordan Howen is the other expected starting safety the Saints have a couple of good experienced linebackers Demario Davis is going into his 13th season in the league and seventh in New Orleans he’s been an allpro for the past 5 years and is a clear leader on the defense Willie gay just signed a one-year deal with the Saints in March he played in 57 games for the Chiefs over four seasons and just won back-to-back Super Bowls Then Pete Warner a 2021 second rounder is the other expected starting linebacker no shock here Cameron Jordan is still on the Saints defensive line he’s been there since I was in the sixth grade which was let me count 13 years ago he’s a Saints great now no question he has 117 and half career sacks and 682 tackles Carl Granderson is the defensive end on the other side of Jordan coming off of an 8 and 1 half sacks season in 2023 he has at least five sacks in three of his Five Seasons in the pros Chase young is also an interesting name the saint sign to a one-year deal but he will miss some a training camp because of a neck injury then Nathan Shepard and kayn Saunders are expected to start a defensive tackle both just played their first season on the Saints in 2023 Brian brussi is still there waiting his turn after the Saints drafted him in the first round last year the defense is definitely the stronger side of the ball for the Saints if by some miracle New Orleans is really good it’s probably going to be because of them I hate to say it but I don’t foresee that happening though now the Saints don’t have a very tough schedule this season it’s actually tied with the Falcons for the easiest in the league their opponent’s winning percentage last season was roughly about 45% New Orleans does have three Prime Time games at Kansas City on Monday Night Football in week five verse Denver on Thursday Night Football in week seven and at Green Bay on Monday Night Football in week 16 the Broncos matchup just feels like it’s going to be the biggest of the season the return of Shawn pton to New Orleans for the first time since he stepped away in 2021 now he’s the head coach of the Broncos that game will have no shortage of drama around it the Saints do start the regular season at home against the Panthers in week one New Orleans obviously plays the Panthers Falcons and Buccaneers three times but the Saints also play the entire NFC East Cowboys Eagles Giants commanders and the AFC West Chiefs Broncos Chargers and Raiders the other three teams on the schedule are 2023 second place division finishers Browns Rams and Packers I really don’t expect too much from the Saints this season I think the NFC South has only gotten better especially with Kurt Cousins in Atlanta it could be a rough season for the Saints I think they go 6 and 11 and get swept by both the Falcons and Buccaneers but the Panthers for a two and four division record they could for sure win more but I don’t have enough confidence in this team to predict otherwise Jackson is mostly on the same page with me here he thinks the Saints win four of six in the division though but also has them finishing 6 and 11 overall the Saints win total over under is 7 and A2 so not even Vegas is super high on the Saints but I guess we are a little lower on them the Saints used to be a perennial playoff team but that hasn’t really been the case since Drew Brees and and Shawn pton stepped away it’s going to take a while for New Orleans to return to relevancy and I hate to be the bearer of bad news but it’s not going to happen this season

  1. The Oline has been a bit revamped so I expect that 29th ranked yards before contact to tick up a bit. If not, it will be another ugly year.
People look at outliers like KC or Buffalo as pass pass pass (ignoring their top 15, 10 for KC, yards before contact/YPC run games) but ignore Carr is a fringe top 10 guy. Like Tua, Purdy, Hurtz, etc you need to run the ball efficiently. Not relying on early down runs a majority of the time

  2. New offense with kubiak and that’s all we needed DA always has the D playing well, Pete was no doubt the worse play caller in the league last year and most bland one to, keep hating but at the end of the day we aren’t going to regress with kubiak at OC. We have plenty of young pieces olave, rashid, kendre, Bub Means, A.T, Adebo, Kool aid, tae Taylor, bresee, howden, khris boyd

  3. I have more faith in the Saints than you do. I think we'll be 10-7 this season and it won't surprise me if they make the playoffs.

  4. New Orleans obviously play the falcons, bucs and panthers 3 times 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 i wish

  5. Guy said "sweep" the Panthers. Imma remember that lol and Bryce is throwing for 4 TDs in one of their 2 divisional games. Remember that

  6. Signing dc just cemented the saints as a mid team over the next couple years. They won’t suck, but they won’t be anything crazy either.

  7. NFL doesn't really have a "purgatory" like the NBA does, but if they did, NO would be in it.

  8. The Saints are an extremely undervalued asset.
Last season, they had the 8th best point differential in the entire NFL, meaning, they should’ve won more games than 9.
Those type of unstable stats usually means they’re primed for a rebound.
If they have the 8th best point differential this season, you’re probably looking at 11 or 12 wins.
They are also changing the offense, with Klint Kubiak running the Kubiak/Shanahan scheme, which is pretty easy to hit the ground running with, see the Houston Texans last season.
It’s also heavily focused on the run game, which was the Saints biggest offensive weakness last season, removing Taysom Hill’s runs which were almost 100% from the QB position, the run game would’ve ranked 31st in the NFL, so it didn’t help the pass game which finish around Top 10 in 2023.
So even if the passing game stays the same, if the run game can get to 15th, you’re looking at a Top 5 offense.
Since Dennis Allen became the Saints Defensive Coordinator, their defense has been consistently really good and there’s no reason to think they’ll fall off this season.
I’m picking the Saints to win the AFC South & make some noise in the playoffs, potentially playing in the NFC championship game.
    Book it!

  9. There’s nothing worse than when your team has no cap space a paid QB and all the pieces to make a playoff run. Only to be a 7-9win team. It’s the worst kind of purgatory you could possibly be in

  10. You lost me at…"It's not a great roster". Seriously. Do you think there are no talent on this team?!?!. If you do. You're delusional.

  11. Dennis Allen and Derek Carr is the epitomy of mid. As a Raiders fan, I have seen my fair shair of this duo.

  12. Most people don’t realize Carr and Matt Stafford have identical stats throughout their careers and this should be a career year for DC should Kubiak be as advertised. It all comes down to the O-line (which is young and athletic) but we may have hit it big with Fuaga, Penning to be more comfortable in year 3, and Saldiveri should be a quality starter this season with quality depth behind them (Udoh, Lemieux, Patrick, Evans, Young, Haynesworth). I believe we have enough offensive weapons to stay dynamic and keep teams guessing between Kamara, Taysom, Olave, Shaheed, Juwan Johnson, Bub Means, AT Perry, Foster Moreau, and Kendre Miller. The defense bottom lime will be top 10 especially our secondary. We are the deepest we have been at the linebacker position and I think Bryan Bresee will help propell our interior d line to the next level, with Chase Young and Granderson manning the edges, hopefully Foskey takes a step in the right direction as well. I think Cam Jordan should play on more interior pass rush/run stuff edge plays at this stage in his career but I think he’ll do better this year than last. Ultimately people forget it was Dennis Allen’s secondary that propelled us to a Super Bowl!

  13. Saints HC is one of the best defense play callers in the league. The new OC is from the Kyle Shanahan system, and Carr is a good QB for that system. Kamara about to thrive in it too along with T Hill, and Olave is a upcoming star WR. The offensive line is the unknown here. The defense has a proven player at every level. They finish the season strong with a former OC that was incompetent, betting the Bucs by more than a TD and the Falcons game was a beat down by the Saints. Keep sleeping though

  14. I cannot believe Taysom Hill is still in the NFL
His career stats over 7 NFL seasons is less than what Mahomes through the first 8 games of the season
He’s making $10m/year while carrying a $15.7m cap hit to produce 100 yards in the air and 200 yards on the ground….. per season
He’s gotta have some sort of dirt on someone
