the ISC Sports Network proudly presents the Pete and Alice D Junior invitation live from Crooked Stick Golf Club final round coverage starts now well it is a summertime tradition for us on the north side of Indianapolis it’s the fifth playing of the Pete and Alice die Junior Invitational here on the ISC Sports Network coming to you from legendary cricket stick Golf Club the home of the 19 91 PGA Championship other numerous events solheim cup us Senior Open Etc and again since 2020 a spot on the junior golfing calendar has taking place at this legendary track built with love by Pete and Alice die 72 of the top Junior golfers in the country are here some of them about to head off to begin their college careers in a matter of weeks others that are playing either at the high school level or the national level as well we are starting a bit early in our coverage today because of rain that is forecast for the afternoon we know that rain was inbound at some point in time obviously we can play through rain we cannot play through storms and so this will be a shotgun start on all 18 holes the featured groups or the leaders after the first two rounds that were contested yesterday are going to play the 18th as the last pairings last tree of the day 36 girls 36 boys 72 golfers in total and we will show you all of the action on 17 and 18 that shot you are looking at here this is the par 317th my name is Greg rraw for a third consecutive year thr to be joined by Lance wringler top college golf rider in the Country Golf Week Magazine good morning my friend how are you I’m good nice and uh nice weather here this morning well we are hoping that it stays that way currently cloudy in the 70s and Breezy again frankly there is a cold front that is ound and the weather forecast for the next several days looks spectacular yesterday it was warm it was humid and we kind of had a popup storm that developed in the afternoon that delayed our uh golfing golfers didn’t finish till 9ine o’clock last night and Z bass to get back to the course first thing this morning such as the nature of junior golf frankly college golf professional golf the ex act same way this Trio players you are seeing currently playing on 17 Maggie Carlson from Inverness Illinois VD laca Wala from Kendall Park New Jersey and cydney given of Austin Texans of these three golfers Sydney is going to play at Colorado next year she is now a high school graduate Maggie Carlson is a senior to be uh laca Wala is a sophomore heading into her junior year she’ll potentially be a college golfer in 2026 we have players ranging from class of 2024 and one of our youngest golfers on the girls field denu is part of the trio that is already off of the 18th T at this point Lance you’ve been doing this now here with us on ISC for the last couple of years what kind of are your impressions uh from having seen this tournament I know you CED it in the original version in 2020 you and I have been watching from high top the 18th green the last couple of years what kind of strikes you about the last two years or of the four years you’ve been here so far well well I think it’s just the the fact that this has become one of the one of the Premier Events on the on the junior schedule each summer now and you know ATT tracks people from all over the country you know there’s college coaches here Galore and and top players and I think you know the job that Crooked Stick does a Tony pancake and and putting on this tournament it just it’s a top-notch tournament and and it’s it’s a small field that’s also well makes it well ran when when you have a small field and and you’re able to if you had a big field you probably wouldn’t have got yesterday in right and uh so it’s just it’s it feels a little bit exclusive and uh it’s great golf course and and I’m sure everyone’s just proud to be here and uh great competition they basically say you know you’re you kind of invite yourself to this tournament but if your rankings not in the top 300 you probably shouldn’t bother that’s kind of the level of amateur golfer that we are seeing here let me give you an example of a local player Samantha Brown from Westfield High School who’s heading off to play college golf coming up in the fall she just played in the US Women’s Open last week uh did not make the cut but as an amateur qualified her way in that’s level of golfer we’re talking about and the first winner of this event on the boys side John Mitchell Butler from Kentucky just won the decisive match to win the NCA championship for Auburn last week as well there has been a former participant in this event that is now W on the PGA tour and again we’ve been doing this now for five years so that kind of gives you an idea as to the caliber of golfer that we see here and that that list of accolades is just going to grow and Wang is the leader on the girls side she’s the only player under par through her first two rounds of the tournament Emma from Palo Alto California she is two under she shot 70 and 72 scores are lower on the boys side this year in fact several golfers went low yesterday Drake Harvey is seven under for the tournament he shot a 66 yesterday Philip Dunham who is playing this event for a third year he is the winner last year he has gone backto back 70 200 under rounds so he is at 4 under again we will not see that group until much later in the day you think Philip can get a a letter jacket at this point in time I think he’s qualified for the varsity based on what he has done here so again you’re seeing action on the 17th green currently the hope is is that we can finish everybody’s round in the vicinity of one o’clock because that’s again when we think storms are going to be in the forecast Carlson laaa and given the trio that are playing on 17 Lance and Lance and I have eyes on the 18th green currently our traditional position we are what is normally an alternate t- boox for 10 but provides a wonderful Amphitheater for all the action here and just to kind of give folks a bit of an idea the groups you are seeing and you will see we’re going to work our way kind of almost backwards on the leaderboard after the first two rounds in the girls field we’ll see the first 11 trios threesoms that come through will be on the girls side then we will see the remainder of the boys field again those that had the best three scores after yesterday’s 36 holes will be the last two threesoms that we will feature but obviously because everybody is playing as we speak we’ll come a Chronicle the leaderboard as best we can so you’ll see a heavy dose of the Alice die field the girls field followed by the Pete die field the boys field again this is a putt on 17 and drained well done so Lance Let’s talk about about weather yesterday’s rain kind of our it’s been primarily a a I’d say moderate temperature-wise you know here in the spring lots of precipitation in the spring so how does the golf course set up for these players here for round number three well we’ve had a wet spring like you just said so it’s it’s made conditions the golf course playing much softer than what you know tournament Championship golf would would want to see uh which is just going to make it easier for the players to score uh so far you know you look look out there you can tell very green they had a lot of rain here this spring and uh you know allows for the players to be a little bit more aggressive uh take Target at the pins and uh Swing Away by the way there are two threesoms that will start on 18 that’s one of the holes they’ll double up 10 and 12 are in the same way so there is actually going to be a group in between the one that you see that are finishing 17 right now there is a group that is approaching the green on 18 there is a group then in between them Natalie Yen Sophia Dyer Lydia portlock they were the second to tea off and getting ready to do that right now on 18 the group that is walking up 18 as we speak Caitlyn Huber who has played this event numerous times denu who we said again one of the youngest players in the field and Bridget Wilkey from Toronto Canada will play here in the state of Indiana at Notre Dame beginning in the fall outstanding putt so two great puts rolled in on 17 that’s a good start to the day that’ll make play go faster as well the fewer Strokes you take the faster you will get around no doubt about that so those golfers heading over to the 18th t as we speak what you’re seeing here are golfers on 16 so the group that ban on 16 Elsie M McClary Harper hinley and Anna swan this Trio of golfers going to play at Virginia Mississippi State and Oral Roberts respectively Swan played this that last year always tough to judge the speed on those lag putts and there is no such thing as an easy green on a Pete die design course when I was growing up they always used to talk about Pete High greens were the burial grounds for elephants usually the first holees pretty straight away and after that you’re on your own by the way our second group is now off of 18 and you’re watching the group on the 16th green currently Clary hinley and Swan this group here currently six over and seven over after their first two rounds clear and hinley part of a group of five golfers at six under Swan part of a group of golfers at seven over six over and seven over the scores to this three someon 16 and our primary focus is 17 and 18 but we do have the ability to at least show you and kind of peek in on action at 16 which frankly the 16th Fairway and hole kind of go right behind the 18th T box for Lance when you’re when you’re kind of it’s in your mind you need to play quickly you’re trying to beat the weather how does that affect a golfer during the round you know makes some it can make it you know a little jumpy uh because you’re trying to you it could can take you out of your routine a little bit if you’re not uh if you’re not careful but uh certainly uh you know they know they need to play fast and they adapt you know you have four hours to adapt to it so just got to try to stay your routine obviously the goal I think for most you know 410 415 I think four and a half I think is the is the goal kind of stated for today the junior circuit tends to be a little bit better when it comes to Pace of play it’s when they get a little older they start to get slower Glenn Al day and Ben Crane come to mind immediately I didn’t think those be the first two professional golfers I’d reference in the broadcast today but there you go got some great drives of our group that’s it’ll be the second to play the 18th you’re watching action on the 16th here first group has played through 18 are about to finish the 18th and as soon as they walk off the green there’ll be a group that approaches this legendary finishing hole that you can’t think about without thinking about John Daly swinging his right arm in the air celebrating his 1991 PGA Championship win here at Cricut stick an event that put he and frankly this golf course on the map so there’s the threesome that you see heading to the 17th t two players in by the way on the 18th green obviously this group is unobstructed and yes wind is going to be a factor today I wouldn’t say it’s Breezy we’re getting occasional gusts so this is the threesome of mlar hinley swan about to tee off on 17 we have anything on 18 yet outstanding effort over on 17 off the T well done getting better 17 a very tricky green and again like most these greens sizable greens but much smaller target areas depending on pin placement that is certainly the case on 18 in front of us today good safe shot may not be thinking birdie from there but you’re certainly thinking a makeable two putt par from that location on 17 this group right now about a hole and a half behind the second group to tee off on 18 not to belabor the point on Pace of play given the incoming weather but something worth noting a third and final t- shot on 17 just off to the right hand side on having some technical difficulties unfortunately with our cameras currently on 18 so we’ve not seen any of the first two groups off the T box just yet so hopefully we’ll get that resolved in short order so our activity has been focused on 16 and 17 currently welcome to live television so now let’s introduce you to this Trio so again this is the second group off of 18 Natalie Yen Sophia Dyer Lydia portlock that was Natalie Yen from West Linn Oregon she’s a senior to be in high school she’s going to play at Texas A&M this is Sophia Dyer this is her third she and portlock had fantastic approaches this pin has always been back here Lance it strikes me as it’s a little further back today than normal yeah it’s it does look a couple Paces further back might be slightly disappointed with that but again you’ve got so little wiggle room there to work with yeah it it it has a lot of movement within that six feet six foot radius of that hole it really slides towards the water here’s Port loock San Antonio native she will make a very very short trip up I 35 to play at the University of Texas next year or two years excuse me she’s a senior to be it’s a birdie putt just pulled it left Lance and I will be the world experts by the end of the day on reading putts on 18 because he’s golf gets to see it once we get to see it 72 times so tap tone for a par and on frankly on 18 you’ll take a par every time oh yeah terms of scores for this group port lock at three over currently in sole possession of sixth Yen and Dyer at one over sole possession of fourth Yen and Dyer three shots back of Emma Wang again we will not see the top Trio of golfers Wang sing and Scarlet shemer they will be the penultimate group through we will not see them for a few hours just the way they’re working their way around the course this is a par save opportunity here just pulled it left and this is the first hole of the day so Yen will fall to two over and now Dyer trying to drain this to maintain so possession of fourth D the winner in Tallahasse on the AG GA tour last year finished second at the Florida girls Jr misses that one too so both players who are T4 drop a stroke here on the opening hole Lance this is not exactly the easiest opening hole you could ever have no demanding Drive second shot’s not as difficult but as we’ve seen uh that whole location is difficult to read so now we’ll go back to 17 this mcclear hinley and Swan clear and hinley began the day at six over Swan at seven over and this is hole number two for this group they teed off on 16 another group is mid Fairway on the 18th well struck over on 17 it is a c coffing of sounds around us we are not far removed from the 10th T right behind us these players that just finished 18 that you saw literally go across the clubhouse and across the putting green as the front nine is on the opposite side of the complex the Clary of this group is going to head to the University of Virginia Swan GNA play at Oral Roberts University and hinley going to play at Mississippi State throughout the course of the broadcast Lance will play his annual game of name that random golf program as I expect him to give me great detail on every school that is involved here of course one of the joys of playing at all Roberts easy access to Southern Hills down in Tulsa yes two balls in the dance floor in 18 by the way and one just off as that putt rattles around it in doesn’t matter how you got it home it matters that you did so that group now will walk towards the 18th te while the next group approaches the 18th green that group can swing unencumbered when they get to the 18th te that was Swan that was able to knock home that last putt again she was part of our field here a year ago finished 13th our winner last year Addison kenowski finished the tournament at two over par she won by four strokes over Riley knob again as referenced Philly Dunham W in a playoff against Luke Colton talked to a family friend of the coltons earlier this morning Luke’s not playing the tournament this year but says they’ll be tuned in from Colorado to check out all the action so again the trio you are seeing here this is the group that we’ve started with on 17 Maggie Carlson V laala and cydney Gibbons no scores have updated through the golf Genius app yet what’s the approach need to be here again we seen two pretty solid efforts and the one that’s just off the back that’s a very makeable chip if you get to that first cutter rough but what’s got to be the mindset from the Fairway to put yourself in position for a rare birdie here at 18 Lance yeah I think you just got to play center yardage of the green and hope it gets over that hump once it gets over that hump everything kind of feeds to the hole but if you hit it in here too hot you can see you you trickle into that back rough and then it becomes a little bit of a a real touchy up and down and if you don’t get past the center of the green you got to deal with that hump it’s in the middle of the green so it’s really a second shot it’s a it’s a got to put the ball in play off the te but the second shot is is really what’s going to determine if you’re going to get out of here with a good score but uh Center yardage is what you got to try to go for Maggie Carlson playing off the green Maggie class of 2025 uncommitted just yet as to where she’s going to play her college golf and you’ll get a mix of caddies that players bring with or caddies that know the the local scene already talked to my buddies Mike bosk and Brent Nickerson to get as mentioned you CED here back in 2020 who were you on the bag for that year uh a Girl by name of Kennedy no she plays at North Georgia go with the putter here what do you think no it’s not it’s not a bad play uh it’s probably the safer play you just got to pop it out of there once it once it gets on the green it’s going to trickle but if you uh use any sort of lofted Club you have to be a little bit more skilled she’s asking it to go but I would say no that your ultimate goal there is to get it home two yeah Putter’s fine fi laca Wala Kendall Park New Jersey first round bit of a struggle 79 but she backed that up with a one under 7 1 in the second round yesterday and again there were some golfers that didn’t finish until 9:00 last night welcome to the joy of being in the Far Western half of the Eastern Time Zone sun sets not until after nine o’clock here in the month of June it’s good for those that get that 5:30 tea time the 2023 New Jersey Girls state champion she will be a high school junor J next year like to leave the flag in again won’t make it but take your four tip your cap and on to the front nine and no need to wait around so Sydney given now and given will play and now I have to play the game of Mak and try to know where everybody’s conference alignment is these days yes in in the Big 12 again for Colorado the Pack 12 now no longer officially in existence GI from Austin Texas finished tied for fifth in this event last year finished tied for fifth in the Kathy Whitworth event earlier this year gave herself a chance but just rolled it past that certainly would have been a bonus making that from that distance this group should likely have three pars successfully handled on the treacherous 18th yep well done I’m not sure we’ll see a better aggregate score of three golfers on this hole for the rest of the day we’ll see maybe in the range of five or six birdies on 18 yeah like I said if you can get it back in that quadrant it’s definitely a makeable putt but it’s the second shot is just so tricky there you see Anna swan kind of heading in that Ravine although where she hit as far left as she hit it she might be just fine obviously see the ball right there so far in what three girls groups we’ve seen quite the range of second shots we had we had a player at 125 and then these players are 200 plus so here’s Swan vividly remember her from last year because of the unique spelling as it would be in Great Britain of northeast Pennsylvania she was the Pennsylvania state champion earlier this year two times present a finalist in the note of a gay event if my math is right she’s 204 yards and I think she might just be laying up here she might try to chase it on she might try to hit something low and and Chase it You’ got a large bailout area left to her left our right as you can actually see our broadcast position from this camera angle by the way that’s the camera work of Chase icenogle roaming the grounds for us today thanks to he Elden wheeler Aaron van waly Aaron shy Hut Jordan Shu Shawn Walker the rest of our crew and got to the top of that bank and stopped I’m not sure that’s where she was planning on being but in the grand scheme of things’ll take it you can make hay from there also see the players have that leaderboard they can look at as they’re playing the 18th and that is the overwhelming response that players give playing this event every year is how the amenities they get when they come here and how they are made to feel in playing this event obviously this broadcast is a part of that yeah it feels like a mini a Mini Pro event s Hill lie here and this one sent right a turn over does it hang on no so our first ball in the water you’re on 18 again this is the fourth group to play 18 only 20 more threesome to come through following that again this is a group of golfers that pretty much mid pack at this point they’re eight and nine shots back of the lead respectively but Kudo to these players they are trying to I would say it at a bit of a quicker Tempo today knowing you’re playing you’re trying to beat the golf course you’re trying to beat the clock a little bit as well what do you see in this shot Lance same thing here she she’s not going to probably be able to get the ball as high as she needs to so she’s got to land this in the front front to Center portion of the green to have a chance to get it to stop near the hole Tak a dead aim for the middle of the green this might work out now we would hit the braks and we’re going to see a lot of that shot today but again that’s not a bad place no she was 162 you’d like for that to start to slow up about maybe Five Paces before it did yeah she just got to be able to get it’s the whole thing get the ball a little higher in the air but coming out of that rough just hard to control the the speed once it hits the green that is Elsie McClary Elsie 2022 Virginia golfer of the year she’s going to play at UVA what sort of program is she heading to at UVA solid program really good program one of the top programs probably in the ACC and definite uh program that makes the postseason every year so Harper hinley is unfortunately the player that went in and I think they’re trying to find the accurate point of entry for her to take her drop I think it was she’s gone too far back I I would agree I feel like she could come up a good 15 yards now is she choosing to do that well I know I mean let’s see here yeah if she’s Harper from mome Mississippi yeah that it’s not bad right there he kind of crossed right on that little so this will be her fourth yet to officially have one on the Green from this group by the way the threesome that is behind this group Gabriella Albert Veronica man cint thain from Taiwan so she’s going to play at Northwestern next year gives me a chance to work into the fact that my wife and daughter are literally in Taiwan as we speak did about a couple hours ago did not think I’d be able to pull that factoid in the broadcast today either so early in the broadcast just vacation school trip school trip but yes vacation more than anything else my vacation’s coming to Crooked Stick and hanging with you right trying to get this close to salvage a bogey here and again that’ll roll through so now you’re trying to minimize the damage knock this close get your six and take more or less a two- shot penalty for putting in the water that’s no easy up and down right there with the way that Ball’s sitting no so three shots just off the on 18 Swan will be the first to play oral berts members of The Summit league for many years their golfers would play against golfers from this area because both IU Pui what would be IU Indianapolis in about a month and Purdue Fort Wayne were in that League now both those two schools members of The Horizon League yeah the summit league is dominated in women’s golf by the University of Denver I think they won many in a row oh are you the most southern member of that conference ranged all the way up to Fargo North Dakota it’s probably going to end up pretty good I’d say that is a tutorial as to how you hit that shot can you tell she’s played this tournament before that is a hard earned four off the Fairway off the hill and within a foot or two still got to manage a little two-footer there it breaks a little bit left there’s no easy tapin here are there they she’ll like this this might go in they she’ll like that oh hit the mark and still went in how about that for a birdie well done it hit the mark of the other player I’m not sure just how she planned it right I thought that might knock it off track a little hit that Mark to take a little speed off this little speed bump here’s Hanley again this is her fifth well struck sure obviously she wanted to try to make that one but that came out of there nicely yep winds picking up and it’ll be kind of intermittent throughout the day winds right now coming out of the South good four so next group has not gotten to the 18th T just yet behind this one and sends that one home so birdie a paren double for this group so the next group that we will see again Albert man and Lynn next Trio on the course good chance we’ll see them for a chunk of 17 and 18 because they are still they are on the 17th green as we speak here we go I see a good friend of mine one of the caddies in this group Mike bosk Mike a multiple times state championship winning tennis coach locally at Carmel High School you also might recognize his alter ego if you’re a Colts fan there’s a guy in the St that looks a lot like Tony dunie that would be Mike his character’s name is cloney dunie one of the most unique guys you’ll ever meet have a chance to catch him before the round today for many years he was a PE teacher and is a regular caddy here at Cricut stick again that’s where local knowledge pays off far as this group all golfers began the day at plus seven so again right Square in the middle of the field good looking roll there and you’ll take that two putt on that green every time and won’t see the leaders till the next to last group here in the Alice die girls division we are starting to see some scores come in from elsewhere around the course our Lita Emma Emma Wang has Bogi one of her first two holes so she is at one under Athena Singh has parred through her first two holes she’s at even par so right now we have five golfers within three shots to the lead two of those that we saw that bogied 18 this is the third hole for this group they have yet to report their scores from Holes 15 and 16 they’ll catch up eventually yep and again the more the realistic goal for this group try to finish top 10 maybe if if you get on a run you’re thinking about a top five here Gabriella Albert from Del Beach Florida Veronica man from truko Canyon California Lynn from Taiwan but she is the one group one player of this group that’s made a college commment again she will be a big 10 golfer in the fall at Northwestern [Music] just didn’t turn enough maybe a ball or two a little bit too far to the right had the Speed next to perfect all that moisture has kept the greens very playable yeah feel like you can if you can get your get the speed down you feel like you can make anything on when the greens are rolling like this it certainly appears that at least on the boys side we’re going to set a a tournament record in terms of what the winning score is going to be not a lot of golfers under par but again our leader was seven under on his day yesterday girl scores have hovered right around the even par mark Mar over the course of now the fifth playing of this event and well done that Sophia Albert connecting on that shot lead the golfers over on 16 Hanna Kate Nichols Sophia elstad and Susie Tran our next threesome of golfers here’s anak Kate Nichols who’s from Little Rock Arkansas and will stay in state to play for the Razer backs Nichols was seven over on her two rounds yesterday but fared much better in round two had an even par 72 elad was eight over elad’s going to play at Oklahoma State in a couple of years Susie trans gonna head to Michigan to play her Collegiate golf she’s a nine over after a 7677 those golfers now heading over to the T on 17 and we go to 18 first shot is away on 18 and this one left as of the Fairway from the golfer perspective Gabriella Albert just made her way to the t- boox so primarily clouds but Sun fighting through I’m not sure that’s the best thing frankly for the weather what needs to be your swing thought here as you’re approaching the Fairway Lance here at 18 well you just got to pick out a Target and commit to it because as you can tell a lot of balls so far to the left uh they don’t want to they don’t want to flirt with that right side so just a confident and commit to your swing and uh believe in it in left edge of the Fairway it’s in the rough but not down in the Gully or the Ravine she’ll have line of sight to approach this deep pin placement I mean if you challenge the right side you really could take a lot of yardage off on your second shot I think we saw one ball come up that right side and that player only had 125 in to where these players are going to have 160 plus depends on how aggressive you want to be here reference Albert having that local caddy let’s see if that knowledge pays off here and does write down meridi approach off from the right side ball leak left but that perhaps is the ball that is land in the most dead center of the Fairway we have seen so far today but all in all three pretty solid drives off the te for this group this is the fifth of the ladies groups that we have seen come through here to this point here’s the group heading towards the 17th green so on both of our two holes we have profile shots right we got we got the golfers walking nobody hitting a golf ball right now that’ll change in just a matter of moments this group’s a bit of an older group that you’re seeing heading up to 17th again they have all made College commitments at this point starting to see more scores kind of flash through the leaderboard as well suy Tran of this group one under to her first three holes now we look at 18 just did a quick check of the 36 players of the scores we have seen looks like we’ve got three golfers that are currently at one under parar through two or three holes played at this juncture for the group that you’re seeing here on 18 this is the fourth hole they have played of the day and they will finish on the 14th just joining us we went to a normally we’re teing off of both first and 10th and then we usually see golfers about 90 minutes into the round but this is the second time for our coverage in five years that either because of delays the previous day or trying to get out of the way of weather for this round we go to a shotgun start so everybody was on the course at 8:30 this is Albert man and Lynn the trio of golfers you see here two at the edge of the Fairway one in Albert in dead center in the Fairway sort of distance you’re getting here on this shot Lance so it looks like they’re ranging from about 172 to 130ish so you can see your line off the T really has a lot to do with the distance you’re going to have in on that second shot and 172 out of the rough there no uh no Easy Shot here and below the hole here too yeah I mean these shots just have to be short you know if you can land this ball I would say just off the Green in front and let it Chase back coming out of that rough and then hope it can sit down think there’s really much else they can do with it she was able to get this in the air attacking on the left side now this could be okay does it hit the break in time no yeah just does not trickle Into the Bunker but and again you’ve got some green to work with there yeah I mean if you want to get the ball close like I’ve said numerous times already you just got to land it in that front portion of the green and hope it gets over the hump it is such a narrow passageway to fuddle down to the small plaque toe on the back end of the green next approach shot has the proper flight looks good looks good from a distance standpoint just again rolls through we will see that shot probably more than any other today just chipping from the back Edge the green I have this shot about 140 does he judge the right distance appear so oh my goodness look at that nearly guard it from the Fairway easy game so again you and I get this read 72 times they get it one but there’s a tutorial as to where your land point needs to be on this screen let’s take another look shows you to the advantage of being a more aggressive on the 18 T get you a much better look at second shot I can tell you this in the years that we have done this no one has holed out from the Fairway we’ve had a handful of Threes including Philip dunam to win in the playoff last year we’ve never called a two on this hole before that was as close as you’re going to see I have seen somebody chip in from behind the green already today that is our lone birdie of the four threesim that have come through at this point had a chip in on 17 as well let’s take a look it’s just a moment ago absolute perfect line because as you could see the speed of that if that doesn’t hit the hole it’s going for a while yes had a really good Pace on it didn’t it exceedingly well done sun is picked up wind is picked up pretty steady Breeze coming out of the Southwest now which frankly is wonderful for this t-shot to get to this point for not bad it’s pretty good yeah that’s frankly the highest ball flight we’ve seen yeah she had that blade way laid open and uh I think she expected that to be a little faster than it was here’s one here’s another one we could see go in that’s a similar position from where MCC made hers in the previous group just pulled it left there’s still some work to do on that one and you’re also looking at two par putts and a birdie putt as we said the best we’ve seen we see we had a group that had three pars a couple of groups back think of anything funny for Albert lining up the birdie GRE behind on the T just pulled it left you can see the water effect there I mean it the balls really go left there I’m not sure in this hole you could be disappointed with a four but given the fact that on your second shot shot the ball hit the hole right I can see where you feel hard done by with a four there on the flip side for these two golfers if they can make these putts they’ll feel ecstatic about their Force got it and connected so again three solid fours for this group Next group now is off the T on 18 and making their way towards the Fairway and our Focus has been on the alist DI girls division we will see the boys come through kind of secondarily get the chance to update you on scores while we have the opportunity Harvey Drake a four shot lead he has one over on his day Philip Dunham Brady Smith Finley Bartlett all at two under for the tournament Drake Harvey has some room to work with so back to 17 and obviously certainly appears that we had somebody going to the water potentially off the tea in the group that is on 17 Angela Kai amaly fun and Sawyer Brocket a recovery shot there terms of our girl leaderboard Emma Wang has dropped two shots in the first three holes Athena Singh is now our leader at one under she is one under on her day after going 7371 yesterday but again there’s little separation there Still Remains five golfers within three shots of the lead in the girls side of things really through three holes on the boys Side Drake Harvey has some breathing room that is so players they are here on 17 this is their fifth hole terms of some of the scores here and as we said we are kind of working our way kind of back down the leaderboard Angela currently at 10 over Fong is currently at 13 over rockstead 15 over for the tournament these players are 21st 23rd and 24th got a group in the Fairway on 18 this group on The Greener close by on 17 see amal’s hom toown Forest Hills that’s more associated with tennis than it is golf Forest Hills for many years in the clay Court days the home of the United States tennis open now we go back to 18 so in this threesome Nicholls elad and Tran this approaches again in that bail to the left and again while not the desired result you can do worse yeah those those balls off the te I think are fortunate to be there everybody kind of clustered together there in the right hand side of the Fairway and just out of the hazard it’s hard to put the ball right there those shorten the distance for you we missed the first approach first approach is on the green there’s a lengthy birdie putt here’s a chance for a second one and this will hit front edge of the green and it will roll but it will also coming out of that rough it will stop well you’re going to have one putt that gives you a great read off of the other as you see there in the middle of the screen this ball that was sent to the left hand side that’s a shot that we don’t see very often on this hole no now we don’t see many balls over there ever a lot of green to work with and frankly the right angle of attack there’s the golfers approaching the 18th hole this is their fifth hole the day Nicholls going to play at Arkansas elstat at Oklahoma State TR going to head to Michigan Nicholls two over for the day nine over for the tournament elstead nine over for the day one over for the tournament TR has the best round going so far she is at two under to her first four holes she went 7677 yesterday she has worked her way up to tied for 13th as the winds start to pick up again and frankly it is TR that had the best approach shot of this group it’s going to be a tough birdie putt but she’ll have a go at it that is elstad that is on your screen yeah what makes this shot so tricky is how far left are you going to take it looks like she’s going to try to land it right in The Fringe maybe she got a little bit more lofted Club so take you a quick check over to 17 as ring true in all areas of golf if we take the other hole like that somebody made a golf punt well done great job by our crew to bring you shots from all around this golf course it is no easy undertaking this is elad’s third and that’s that’s the danger with that shot is once that thing kind of Hit the down slope that Hill it was just going to take off and she landed in The Fringe which is where she was looking could you have even thought about playing a putter from that distance you could I think you could you just got to hit it higher and I think she hits that exact same shot but lays the blade open a little bit more and gets it higher the result probably would have been better elad still off the green here a chance from a putting standpoint Nicholls was first to go but elad’s got to get on the dance floor first be interesting to see how much break they play here I think you really have to get it out at least the first one the second one might not be as much like Nichols will give it a go she won the ajga event Shri Port two years ago made the US Women’s four ball round of 16 last year it was named as the Arkansas Player of the Year in both 2022 and 2023 never got the speed right on that well she didn’t have the line either you really have to throw that out there hopefully let’s see if TR can continue her Torrid start to this round see how much she learned here TR just Birdie the 17th birie the 15th as well looks like elad’s going to play so she’ll have that for her five try playing quickly I can’t follow the ball speed a little better but obviously her line was off too so all three golfers here with work left to do on the 18th group behind them now has made of the 18th T box Nichols and Tran will be playing college golf in the fall what sort of programs they heading to at both Michigan and Arkansas respectively well Arkansas top five program this year Michigan obviously one of the better teams in the Big 10 and uh frequent postseason appearances for them and Arkansas is one of those teams that thinks they can win it every year a three putt so five for Nichols she’ll fall back to 10 over for the tournament three over for her round that’s with 13 holes left to play El stad for a five she went 7577 yesterday she’s playing for Oklahoma State but a year from now she’s class of 2025 makes that TR from the state of Washington this is a good chance for her to get a little experience playing some Midwestern Golf and she’s going to be playing the Big 10 although then again Washington is now Big 10 country so what do I know I was waiting for that no sometimes the jokes right themselves TR it’s just going to be so weird rolls that one in I think even for the West Coast people it’s weird it’s no longer Big 10 country it’s in a big country like the band would say 40 years ago group off the 18th t- box behind them so they’re heading towards the 18th Fairway I’m waiting for that big 10 Golf Championship in La that’s what we’re going to have here Riviera I mean why not it’s going to be it’s going to be different and these schools seem to just go into different conferences almost overnight anymore right I can’t keep up with it so activity taking place all around the golf course in our coverage now oh about an hour 15 hour 20 into it here on the ISC Sports Network my name is Greg rraw joined by Lance wringler and Lance the top college golf rider in the Country Golf Week Magazine see the group behind us an interesting t- shot coming up here for amaly fun I’m only 13 over for her round or for her tournament two over for her first four holes of the day she’ll be a high school senior next year like wind really behind the players for the most part on this hole Lance I know that you have now been in the business of promoting a rather significant golf golf event every May how did it go this time around it went really well like I the NIT college golf and uh exce it’s has exceeded All my expectations and I hoped it just continues to grow and uh really excited about the future of it how many how many teams played in it this past year we had 10 women’s teams and 10 men’s teams and the location uh it’s just south of Phoenix at Maricopa Arizona oin Southern Dunes Golf Course fantastic place and uh we call it the Madison Square Garden of college golf although now we might have to call it the hle fil out some colge golf because now that that hankle host the NIT and basketball but uh yeah it was just a couple years ago the NCA permitted a second postseason championship and uh we jumped all over it and excited to be part of it and host it and and uh College golf’s so deep now the parody and is is there and it easily can support a second Championship what’s the distance we’re looking at here on on this shot Lance she is uh probably around the 200 range see we get a number for you not exactly great line of sight and I’m not sure what a what a stance is going to look like here from this distance yeah we’re looking at probably about one 190 we have really seen about half of the women’s field at this point for these golfers this is hole number six of their round the variance of distances coming in has it’s been you know anywhere from 125 to 2115 I mean it just it’s all that line you take off the te more aggressive you are the the shorter distance you’re going to have so far we’ve not seen anybody in the water off the te we have seen one approach shot go in the water and this ball flight left of the hole but unfortunately he’s going to go through the bunker right in front of our broadcast location and that’s going to be kind of diabolical as to where you land that ball on the green just how far do you swing it kind of to the right of the hole and let the terrain take it down just going to throw it high and again these players you know 170 plus they just need to play it a low a low shot 150 land right in the front of the green and that’s your best play this is Angela Kai from Ontario one of a couple of Canadians in the field 159 to the hole Angela finished second at the ajga Dana open we’ve always talked about this we think this hole shapes up even a little better for a left-handed player first one we’ve seen come through here today she started that she pulled it that’s not looking good yep straight in the water knew that from the moment she hit it yeah jumped on her too usually when you’re hit the bot of the rough like that if it’s thick it’ll turn the toe and cause that to go in her case go right while she did that Sawyer Brocket approached and sent her ball well to the other side of the hole so this was not exactly I set of second shots to remember no for this threesome broad of this group none of these players will play college golf next year they’re all going to be either High School juniors or seniors broad is the one that has made a commitment and she is one of couple of players in the field that will play at the University of notra Dame which is all of two hours from our broadcast location here on the north side of Indianapolis what sort of program do the Irish have in the ACC you know the Irish have been that team on the bubble the last couple years and uh one of the first teams out of regional play so um I’m sure they’re trying to just get over the hump a bit great facilities up there at the Warren golf course and uh what’s monop coach Caroline’s been there for a couple years uh played at Michigan State I think she just won the Indiana Golf Association midam Women’s Championship recently Carolyn powers what you saying over there so Angel’s got to figure out exactly where her point of entry is she’s taking her two Club length range from a drop and she’ll be chipping her fourth looks like the broat will be the first to play from reoboth Beach Delaware I’ve always wondered how you say that and I had to ask you when we saw a ball from that spot earlier or a spot close to it would you think about putting it from there and that’s exactly what Brock said appear she is going to do however we do have a shot taken and again we mentioned for Amal fun we weren’t sure kind of what your point of attack was going to be well she left her chip short so 18 is showing its teeth for this three some of players Kai is going to now Chip here this is her fourth good speed good line but still look look at the ball tail away on the back end my goodness that looked great until it got to the hole Yeah it’s races once it gets past the hole it picks up speed it’s not a postage stamp green but it is a postage stamp Target yeah that that whole area back there little quadrant not big this will be interesting to see where she using a putter here to see what line she takes I would think that her her Target from a stopping point and then letting the course do its job is about four or five steps on get to that point let it funnel down the hill it’s going to take off not an 18 to remember for any of this group right now well with the wind picking up it’s going to present its challenges for the Poise as well and we will see them approximately five groups from now and the last two threes we will see will be the three players that were in the top three spots in the boys and girls division after yesterday now there’s a goodlooking chip that’ll be a five rockstead this will be a putt to salvage a four from just off the green but unless this is hold everybody is get giving a stroke back here on 18 that’s why we said earlier you’ll take par on this hole and smile about it minor you can watch today’s action on the ISC sportsnetwork.com ISC Twitter isc’s Youtube Roku and Apple tv that was said for all of Lance’s adoring fans are one to watch his work today rockstead just a little work to do left by the way Emma Wang is back in front Athena Singh now one over Scarlett shemmer at one over as well Dyer Huber wilky given Yen now eight golfers on the girls side within five shots of the lead that’ll be a six be the second six we have seen here on four or on 18 I should say Carter bunker and Hall the next Trio do up and they’re on 17 roocket did finish with a five on 18 so of this group Carter who is from Lexington Kentucky and will play at the University of Kentucky other two players a bit younger and uncommitted AA bunker will be a junior in high school next year carner’s at one over for her round she’s 23rd currently the tournament bunker is two over on her round she’s tied for 24th and Hall is three over for her round today she’s from the state of Florida she is a High School junior to be well judged on the speed even though they didn’t go in that’s heck of an effort there AA bunker is a local product from the major Metropolis of Edinburg Indiana best known for its outlet mall and its giant tenderloins in edinberg Indiana she was the ihsaa champion the Indiana high Association champion last fall in 2022 shot of 6 3 up at the cooko Country Club as well and was the 2022 us key us kids teen world’s champion bunker good golf name yes it is yeah good speed from there I’ll take that be able to knock that home so I started talking about Ava bunker you started nodding your head accordingly what you know about Ava good young player I’ve heard first heard about her I think when she was in like maybe seventh to eighth grade and uh living up to the hype a little bit now she is from Edinburg but she plays at Columbus North High School she shot a 142 to finish two under par just down the street at Prairie View when she won that girl state championship in October of 2022 I’m excited to hear of her College Choice here probably in the next year or so see if anybody in the state can keep her and she’s one of a handful of Indiana golfers that we are seeing on the girls side we do see one or two on the boys side as well now what’s unique about the boy side here is that the young men that are playing are playing in between rounds of the Indiana high school state tournament which for those watching outside of the Hooser state is done in three separate kind of levels sectional regional state championship and you are allowed to play in an event like this in between aen gueras of Al perzo is the one we’ll kind of probably focus on more than anybody else because he literally has played here and then went on to win the state championship in in previous years and again for those watching from outside of Indiana girls high school golf in this state is a fall Sport and they wrap up their season the first Saturday in October boys golf is a Spring sport and their state championships are next Tuesday and Wednesday and again five miles from here six miles from here at most on the other side of Carmel so that one tapped home the players now will start to make their way to 18 so for a player like Eva how do you balance the your your junior golf circuit played at a national level kind of like this one versus you know the high school circuit you know most States you know High School golf kind of takes a backseat in Most states uh to actual junior golf but you know this State High School golf’s a little bit more important um so you know it’s just uh you got to figure out you know the good thing about it is the high school season comes after the summer season so it kind of wraps up your your playing year a little bit so it works out well if it started off the year might be a little bit more difficult but you know the focus of you know for a player like Ava who’s going to college you know she’s going to be focusing on summer play and and unfortunately sometimes the high school season’s just kind of there but uh you know then there’s a lot of States Greg where kids that are really good they don’t even play high school golf right and it’s just you know but here in Indiana there’s a little bit more pride in High School athletics than what we see in some states and and let’s reveal to our audience from outside of Indiana you and I are highly involved in High School athletics in the state of Indiana I get to call just a few of them and my partner when he’s not writing about college golf he is a very high level high school basketball official in the state of Indiana Lance calls the Bloomington area home in fact you were working some pretty high-end summer league High School Hoops games as an official just last night yeah I’m a little sore today well thankfully we’re not asking you to move very much for the next five hours yeah June’s a busy month for high school basketball here in Indiana so let me orientate myself what we were showing you those those ladies are playing 16 just now so now we can show you the action on 17 here so we’ll be kind of be able to hang with this group for a little bit other players by the way that we will talk about that of are the Indiana High School persuasion Samantha Brown who again just played in the US Open for the women last weekend and also Claire swathwood they’re in fact in the next two groupings so we’ll have local talent in the send to Michaela Headley the next four groups all have a local product playing in them and again just to give you kind of the heads up there are five girls groups left to go before we start then flipping the pairings over to the boys division that’ll play through 18 so this is on 17 so now we go to the 18th team so we have now action on 18 because we had this that we have now gotten to a group that had a 12a and a 12b so Gloria nip Clare Lou and Samantha Brown this is the threesome that are on the tea right now Gloria from Port St Lucy Florida she’ll be a high school senior next year undecided on what her College plans will be Claire Lou of this group from Edison New Jersey she’s going to play in the ivy league at Penn and again the aforementioned some Samantha Brown who was a local product from Westfield good friend of of mine I’m sure of Lance’s to is on the bag for her be Brent Nickerson the golf coach at the University of Indianapolis you see him wearing the bib that says Brown on on your shot right there they are now oh what five days removed from or 10 days from winning a national championship the division 2 level yep for a third time truly remarkable when you think about it you know one Championship okay but three three in the last what 10 years correct uh at at in Indianapolis Indiana know it’s just Northern Gulf yeah it’s it’s it’s very it can happen Brent has built a tremendous program let’s go back to 17 so again just to orientate everybody Carter bunker Hall that’s this group on 17 Brown Lou and nip that is the trio of golfers that are currently playing 18 again shotgun start format today so we had 18 holes all we’re playing to start our day and we had threesums on 10 12 and 18 we also referenced the Indiana high school championship while Samantha Brown won the Indiana high school championship last year and that was played at the end of September of 20123 and Samantha will stay to play her college golf at Purdue and she’s in the group that’s on 18 here’s the action on 17 this is CA Carter so obviously a drop is being taken there what sort of program is she joining in her home area of Lexington Kentucky and University of Kentucky good program they’ve turned out some you I had the US am champ a few years ago her name is slipping me right now um and then I obviously a former winner from here right L Laney uh correct she won she played Kentucky uh and it’s in the all powerful SEC where it just means more I mean it’s SEC if you can get to the SEC and anything anymore it’s uh in a good spot and obviously Texas and Oklahoma now now join that conference as well for the upcoming season just an incredible golf conference so this will be her third was first team All State in Kentucky last year she was the Kentucky girls junior runner up a season ago with CA looks like they’ve all pretty much hit it in the popular area right there oh my goodness just too much speed rattle right off the flag stick so Carter has that putt for her fourth on 17 absolutely had the line this ball just hit and just took off so this group is Carter bunker and Hall that putt Bears a little bit to the right that’s Ava bunker clouds rolling back in when most certainly picking up again we know that it’s going to rain at some point we just hope that a it doesn’t storm at some point here’s a second shot Hannah Hall good looking putt how about that so back to 18 we go Samantha Brown Clare Lou laia nip of this group first ball is laid up short this one again that will be a gnarly shot down in the Swale you can’t see the ball from here it’s it’s down in that lower right area this is Samantha Brown and Bren Dickerson her caddy just hitting this green is becoming a challenge now she has the advantage of local knowledge going to high school literally up the street from Crooked Stick in the ihsaa champion in September terrible eyeses that’s why you can yeah just knocked it forward as best you could you’ll have two from the Fairway hitting their third and then another from around the bunker hitting their third the ability to play in the US Open as an 18-year-old what does that do for her going forward just confidence just uh having the the belief that you can do it and that’s what it does for you you know we’ve seen so many young female players you know we’ve seen 14 15 year olds and it just gives you a a load of confidence you know if you can play with the pros and and and if you have any success at all it just helps you moveing forward she didn’t make the cut at the US Open but then again Nelly cter didn’t either so a lot of good players and she’s one like everything but the US Open seeming like this year the only drawback for Samantha is this playing in the US Open she had to miss her high school graduation last Thursday so that’s a pretty good excuse so now we’re showing the action this is from the 16th Fairway it’s about as far back on the course so to speak as we can show you the action these are second shot on 16 approaching the green cannot thank our camera crew enough our tech crew is out here setting up all day yesterday and got here as early as 5:30 this morning to bring you the action back to 18 we goes this is Samantha Brown this her third 100 yards flying it out to the right and how about that again the distance getting it to stop like we said local knowledge so she’ll have that for a par hunt so CLA Lu and Coria nip the playing partners of Samantha Brown and I think for the first time in my five years of doing this we were just asked hey where did it go yeah I don’t think I’ve ever seen a ball that far down to the right from our Viewpoint and also what is unique is that Clare Lou is playing sans’s caddy you’re seeing T players now on the 18th T box behind the action those players are free to swing away the players are the are playing further ahead on 18 or Advanced to the point where they can swing freely another solid approach on 18 we’ll get back to the action on the 18th green shortly solid t- shot right edge of the Fairway our perspective left from the Gulf standpoint the shot you just saw here’s CLA Lou what advice you got there partner this is tough I mean you got water what 12 yards behind that stick you got to kind of blast it out of here but you got to be careful that’s really not bad no that’s as good as you can do hit it it rolls all the way through and she kind of looks at Brent nickenson kind of shrugs her shoulders goes that’s it’s best I could do and and I would agree Claire’s going to play at the University of Pennsylvania what what’s the Golf Scene like in the ivy league you know Ivy League’s good uh three or four top 100 teams uh tough to be a top 50 program so they’re pretty much playing for that Championship to get the AQ from the league but the ivy League’s really really a decent golf conference on the women’s side better on the women’s side than the men’s but uh not bad back to the 18th t for the swing and absolutely crushed it that is the drive of the day that might be about 125 I would guess in terms of dead Mill the Fairway absolutely obliterated that ball that was I believe CA Carter that hit that so everybody here the the action you’re about to see will be to salvage a par for this Trio terms of on the scoreboard Samantha Brown even for her round today 14 over for the tournament glorian nip is plus two she gets tied for 24th in the tournament same for Clare l two over on the day this is each of these golfers seventh hole in which they will complete parut just pushed it wide right all right so when you see a player playing solo out here and and not having a caddy what does that tell you about that player well you never know you never know exactly why that happened but cuz most of them can have a caddy but uh you know they just feel comfortable let’s face it in college golf no caddy get a caddy yeah this is the most the winds have have blown consistently steady there is some significant Chop on that pond that is next to 18 right now par putt just turn left Gloria from Port St Lucy Florida looking to finish out her five here even though she is from Florida she has played on the Hong Kong national team has Gloria a brown lining up per put what does the team look like that she is joining at Purdue in the full you know Purdue obviously won a national championship back in 2010 and it’s been pretty steady I mean they’re always always a regional team and a team that tries to battle its way to the national championship like we said wind’s blowing some things around in the lake right now is that messy could be should have brought my rod and pole while we were here could have cooked everybody up some dinner and parut knew it from the moment to left her her blade and then talking to Brent before today’s round said samanth has not been playing her best over the course of the last couple of days well certainly an emotional High playing in an open probably mentally needs a break sure that’s important with these Juniors too is finding a time to make sure they reset every now and then actually get to to be 16 17 and 18 year olds people don’t realize the one thing about golf is it’s it’s an all day deal it’s not like a basketball or you know baseball gam sometimes you get a break and even if you play two in one day you still have that break golf it’s an all day Affair especially yesterday for these kids playing 36 there’s the five for Samantha seven more holes to play or excuse me seven holes down 11 more to play for this group so now let’s go to the group behind them this is Carter bunker and Hall the next group through believe this is Hall B leaking left if it had has the right distance it might do something here in one sense a favorable kick that it’s turn it towards the hole but again just accelerated so you can get up and in there for par here’s bunker it was Carter that absolutely smoked that ball off the T moner attacking from the right side yeah that’s one she’ like to have back if she could have gotten that ball to turn over she’d have been okay there but it started to leak a little bit and so par would be her best score with a chip in but now Carter really has a chance to attack here Carter three over for her round so far7 yards yeah it was absolutely walloped that is our Drive of the day to this point frankly because the difference in the boys and girls teas I’m not sure you’ll see a boys Drive later that is anywhere near as good as this one Carter just doubled 17 did Birdie 15 on her round again just like the group beforehand this is the seventh hole of the day today so just to kind of give you a frame reference here we’re about to hit the 2hour mark on the round next group behind them currently on 17 Carter played this event last year down and again just hit it through two behind the green and one of the drink and these are players that again are not going to factor into the overall decision of the championship we have a couple of Partners there side by side behind the green you know I’m not sure we’ve seen a player hit the Green in regulation here in like the last three groups it’s it’s pretty gnarly already bunker has taken her drop again we reference her from her High School golf days high school golf season starts very early in August here I see the next group behind here’s bunker 7879 yesterday this is her fourth that should funnel down a little bit so she’ll have that for a five for her two playing partners are thinking about nestling one of these a foot or two away from the hole to take a part of the front nine with them our next Trio behind this group Lee swathwood who’s a caramel native and Jenna mat so it’s Hall that’ll play first obviously Carter is going to get a pretty good read here what’s the target Point here for Hall lands well it’s going to go left just it’s how how much speed she can keep off of the ball she just got to let this land it’s just a really delicate shot if this can land just on the green and then let it roll out to the left not bad no just hit that a little further than what and again but just because of the proximity of one ball the other the rare the rare where you mark yeah off the green but you sh you saw the the reason why same type of shot is just not a lot of green to work with and got to be almost perfect Carter off the University of Kentucky what does the fall look like for golfers at the D1 level Lance I usually play four or five events start the first part of September and goes to about November one she and Hall will have identical fourth shots as well you know it just must when you’re standing down there it just must look flat because no one plays how much it’s going to go towards the water every putt every chip goes left should we start flashing hand signals from up here we could probably sell Our advice that’s not legal by the way folks and we would not offer to do that we’ think about it but not actually do it but this is why you see at the professional level you see caddies out walking the course of the morning and again this is the third year you and I have done this fifth year we as a company at ISC have produced this event well done that saves a stroke right there again it’s it’s for five boy but see the kind of the pace that she’s walking off with Y maybe takes momentum from that and she’s now four over through seven holes is AA she doubled 14 Bogi 16 as well so here’s hall for birdie or for par excuse me all trying to stop a streak of four consecutive bogeys and make it five in a row Carter trying to salvage the lone par of the group and again think about where she was off the te only 107 yards out next gr behind this one is on the 17th green as we speak and connects Well Done by Carter see her rocking the Wildcat gear in today’s event so our next group up yuang Lee from Orlando Florida CL swathwood again a local product from here in Carmel play at the University of Memphis Jenna Madden who was off to play at Ferman in the fall and this is 7 that t- shot on 17 right now with the wind behind you has to be a bit nerve-wracking yeah and from what we’ve seen the the pace on the green is very fast so downwind fast green hard to get close the golfers are heading off a 17 and starting to make their way towards 18 so here is the group behind them on the te at 17 this group is Julian mener from Michigan gonna play at Michigan State arth Cena from OBO Florida and Duff McKay from Dallas Texas Menor a senior in high school it’s now going to be a college freshman Cena’s going to be a senior to be and McKay another good golf name Duff McKay that’s right could put Duff bunner bunker together right that’s right you can have some good ones we used to do all name teams we stopped doing that a while back those would be considerations so what our Wildlife photography that was a turtle today has been tremendous it’s not a snapping turtle it’s a snap hook turtle so in terms of the scores for this group that you see upate those as we go this is ritten hour heer camp and Headley that’s the group that we’re seeing here the old A and B groups got me yeah every time yep you’re in that habit of just going scrolling up threeome by threeesome go nope it’s a written hour High Street camp in Headley and we’ll get to the first boys group that was the 10B group so the group that you saw just tee off on 17 that’s the last group that we will see of the girls division so we get to the next to last group group of the day gives us a chance to update the top of the leaderboard on the girl side Scarlett shemer now is the only player under par for the tournament she is at one under on the day and one under for the tournament Emma Wang is at one over Natalie Yen at two over Athena Singh and Sophia Dyer at three over on the boys Side Drake Harvey continues to lead his lead is down to three he has one over on his round Brady Smith who has played this event multiple times is at three under Philip Dunham is at two under Jordan Wang is at one under Finley Bartlett Morgan Riley Drew Miller all at one over par and Harvey had a five shot lead briefly Harvey now three to the good those players are playing the eighth and Ninth holes that we just mentioned respectively this Trio here ritten hour he Camp Headley Headley get a local product going to play at Purdue heyer Camp will play at Indiana University she’s from West Lake Ohio ritten hour from Raleigh North Carolina she’s going to play at UNC she is a senior to be in high school so third shot here on 17 still some work to do there lion two that wind is St yeah it’s going to be a real challenge I think coming down the stretch here well frankly you know course conditions lead the good scoring the wind does not let’s go back to 18 these players in the Fairway Lee swathwood and Madden Madden five over the round same for swathwood Lee at three over for all these players this is their eighth hole they teed off on 11 to start their day swathwood a part of the ihsa 18 Champs in 2022 as that ball will make its way to the bunker that frankly makes that a much easier shot than it would have been From the Rough that’s a pretty straightforward ship now players are still hitting way too much Club into this scen not seeing anybody hit you know front center yardage here’s a good look from the Fairway all will okay settle kick back a little bit so birdie putt opportunity there one more ball to hit from the Fairway here here’s Jenna Madden to be a Ferman Paladin very deliberate over the ball here from the middle of the Fairway he’s trying to get the line and distance right that ball will Nestle that’s the approach of the day right there yep time well spent that is the closest thing to a kick in birdie we have seen the entire day there was one from the Fairway that Jarred and and rolled through but in terms of the actual distance from a putt that is easily the approach shot of the day for Madden 147 yards to about what three feet probably maybe less inside a three for sure and again these golfers not going to factor into the overall decision they’re just trying to close out their round with a solid score and for the two players that are about to be College golfers there’s not many more Junior events for them to play you know you and I are both in the basketball World locally and see this approach one more time to finish the thought the young men and women that that I’ll see play Hoops the next few days they’ll all be on their college campuses soon within the next handful of days and some have already been there and are coming back for these golfers that are about to be College athletes when do they start to get to campus usually I I I hear mostly uh mid August God which the the old traditional yes timing yep when you and I were athletes many many moons ago all your your us amers are first of August so usually after that they start rolling towards School seeing action on 17 right now the putt is ritten hour heer camp in Headley Trio that are playing 17 as we speak and for that Trio when they get to 18 they will be making the turd again all these three players playing 17 all committed to play major college golf at North Carolina Indiana and Purdue so here’s yuang Lee bunker shot for her third the way her feet have dug in goal is just to hit the green and let it roll probably to not get the Loft on that shot she was hoping for yeah or if it could have caught the rough just a a smidgen it probably would have uh killed it enough to stop it by the hole but she does have a par Putt and a pretty straightforward effort too now swathwood she finished tied for sixth as an individual in the high school state finals earlier this year at Carmel High School leaves that one short that’s what she’ll have left for par vers Lee have this par effort group behind on 17 just about to finish their action on the green and start to make their way toward the t- Box if just joining us everybody started at 8:30 we went shotgun style to data trying to get this round completed and knowing there’s a lot of players that have flights home later today good looking roll but just tailed right at the end that’ll be a boki that’ll put Lee at four over on her round she is now after paring 17 bogy for the last five holes here’s Madden she’s at five over through seven looking for her first birdie of the day and her first birdie since the fifth hole of her second round yesterday pretty straightforward putt Just Right Center don’t give up the hole with some speed push outside yeah yeah well well at least she she was reading the break more so than most players we’ve seen most of them not see that much but she saw a little bit more I think than what there was she’ll finish out she can knock this s she’ll finish with pars on this hole in all three rounds over the last couple of days it does exactly that so far we’re sitting on one made birdie we’ve seen not happy after hitting in there three I understand y swathwood five over on her round so far she doubled this hole in the second round yesterday not today so she’ll take her par and 10 holes to play for this group so now let’s go to the group in our final girls group that we’ll see for sometime written hour heer camp and Headley since I’ve already asked about the program in West Lafayette and the Burke boiler maker complex how about the group against playing the new foul course just down the street from you what sort of program is heer Camp heading to at IU well they were the so there are a total of 57 aqs automatic qualifiers in men’s and women’s division one Golf and Indiana was the one team of all 57 that pulled the upset won the Big 10 Championship Big 10 conference Championship this year so they stole an AQ or was an at large bid Thief there and and uh Brian May I believe maybe in his third year now and uh they ranked in the 70s and uh getting better Golf Course extremely hard sometimes I joke with Coach mayor down there the course might be too hard but yeah they’ve uh women’s program is definitely improving the last few years and made it to the regional I think they finished 10th or 11th but Big 10 conference champs this year here’s Michaela Headley she finished tied for second in the high school state finals in September that’s a two round two-day event in high school golf on Fridays and Saturdays late September and Headley will play at Purdue so she and Samantha Brown high school rals but soon to be college teammates and again you see the resting place of that one for for the first time today we’ll see the guys over on 17 Julian mener AR Cena and Duff M Trio that you’re taking a look at and this is the eighth hole that those players have played and the winds continue to solid Whip and pick up here looks like the rain’s going to miss us though certainly The Hope put it to you this way when we began the broadcast the kind of weather forecast was for thunderstorms potentially at noon or 1 now it is saying 2 o’clock which should be well after you and I have given our final thoughts in the broadcast at least we hope so again we will kind of work our way up the leaderboard on the boys side so these are the players that entering today were 3435 and 36 arth Cena two over through seven mens are two over through seven McKay one over through seven a Menor of this group is the one commitment for next year they play at Michigan State good roll on that ship outstanding roll on that ship that’s exceedingly well done good looking golf shot there should be a par putt coming up Cena of this group will be a senior in high school Duff McCay will be just a junior a year from now frankly I think there could be a little uh tutelage on that last chip that can be used on this one terms of judging the speed and judging the distance also the first yellow fell we’ve seen today everybody off the green yeah it’s no picnic of this group all three players missed the green and that wind is constant arth won the boy junor championship in the State of Florida that’s limited for golfers age 13 to 15 left that one short also finished runner up as the in the ajga event in Puerto Rico we got a couple of golfers in terms of the acttion 18 that are about as far back off the te as we have seen so we kind of have our eyes on two holes simultaneously here yeah I’m guessing that might have been the ball that found the water put here pushes it out to the right let’s get back to 18 now so from the edge of the Fairway that will roll down into the bunker again you’re never trying to place in the bunker but it it that bunker shot beats the alternative our final girls Trio that we will see for some time R now heer camp in Headley B from the Swale below the green that will clear one hump and may be heading towards that same bunker absolutely thought the rake was going to get it that’s two in the sand and not me but the actual rake that was down there on the hillside so all three golfers have played their approach shots back to 17 we go and mener CA and McKay that one Nestles in side door that was McKay that made that one golf action is so good even the aquous life wants to take a look at the action some of those might be out by the complaint box out in the in the middle of the Pont one of the landmarks of this hole kind of partial that covered bridge you see over there as well part of the tradition of the painted barns across the state of IND indana historic male pouch Tobacco Barn theme that you see in a few towns across the state so the young men done on 17 they’ll head to 18 to play their ninth hole here’s some of the guys on 17 so the next group coming through so Trio on nine River Sly Jackson cook and Andrea berini the trio you’re about to see here teeing off on 17 River silly going to play at the University of Cincinnati Jackson cook in Mississippi State and berini is just going to be a High School junior next year that one pulled left two groups that went off on nine as well so this is the ninth hole that those young men have played they’re about the halfway mark of their run about two and a half hours in one more the tea off looks like on 17 we’ll keep our eyes on the action on 18 as well there’s a shot we’re going to want to show you replay of on at coming up in a matter of moments we just saw the second best chip of the day from cor heer camp t- shot here for the lefty well done on the Dance Floor chance for a birdie as it rolls through that back to 18 so we mentioned what heer camp just did and she’s heading to play at IU take a look at this shot again she has played this tournament before she knows this course and like she had the architectural blueprint for the green rolled within a foot unfortunately the two bunker shots after that not as successful for rid now and Headley R now are even par on her day today of this group this ball just carries about two feet and it’ll be fine not bad good effort heer Camp six over for her round Headley four over for her round heer camp 8283 Headley unfortunate 89 in round one yesterday that a much more solid 80 oh goodness this is by a fraction of an inch I thought she had that I think she did too good Pace most players have come up short here’s heer TAPS at home rewarded for her effort on her previous shot this for a two put in to make the turn by the way at the other end of the leaderboard in the girls division needs to be Scarlett shemmer the two shot lead over Emma Wang three shots clear of Natalie Yen we will see the last Trio of girls golfers in the penultimate group as they teed off on one so the golfers on the boys and girls sides that were the top three spots they get to play the traditional 18 in order now the next 11 groups through we have the boys division work our way from Back to Front in terms of the leaderboard this is over at 17 this is the stilly cook berini threesome and the Menor Cena McKay group already off the te at 18 River Sly on your screen now still one over through eight on his round today and right now the threat of rain seemingly has lessened it’s more just the wind the wind that is putting even more teeth into this golf course I’m not sure it needs it [Music] had the pleasure of playing this course a couple of times in terms of media outings for major events this group will head the 18th T once activity wraps up on the green beini one over for his round today still he went over for his round today Jackson cook the same on the boys only a couple of rounds in the 80s for the tournament as we said earlier this we certainly think is going to be a record low score forever wins on the boys side in this year five of the event there’s this of course dates back to the 60s there’s tree all around the edge of it but frankly not a lot of protection from that wind in terms of the fairways greens or tea boxes it’s going to be Breezy all around the course yeah and it’s not it’s constant too there’s the let up it’s a just makes this approach shot into 18 really difficult downwind see if the boys do any better judging the where they need to land the ball you’re watching putts on 17 currently Lance and I P to top the 18th green now you see an approach shot here from 18 on the left edge of the Fairway this get end up good this will turn down towards the whole Rim its way around that’ll be a putt it’ll be a pretty straight ahead putt too we got a couple of young men that largely serving as almost their own caddy here here’s arth Cena three over through eight is arth 128 yards he has Here Yeah by far the best Drive of this Trio good looking ball flight yeah this could be good and it will oh oh and checked up on him it’s just cruel yeah coming out of the Fairway just couldn’t control the spin if that ball rolls as we have anticipated he’s within five feet yep solo birdie putt yeah different between coming out of the fair coming out of the rough or the Fairway there b chases if he’s in the rough so two putts and one ship remaining for this group they had would would have been a traditional kind of start teeing off on 10 normally we’re players on one and 10 T’s they go back to 17 still he just pushed that one wide Taps that one home see the activity finish up on 17 as well while we’re a away good looking chip on 18 nice pick up there on 17 now back to live action on 18 see he have the first look obviously he is far different from his two playing Partners in mener and McKay what sort of program is men are going to in Michigan State well the Spartans were the last team in you’re catching me right on the The Fallout of the H Championship but Michigan State got the last spot in the field and uh good program good facilities Michigan state did kind of opposite of what Northern teams do they they didn’t have a very good fall season and they made up their ground in the spring which is rare for a team in the north what’s a successful result here for this putt for Cena I it’s just a lag but he just got to he’s going to lay it out to the left a little bit and let it feed to the hole and like what we’ve seen is if it gets past the hole it tends to pick up speed so it’s just a lag Putt and see what it does once it gets down here he gave that one plenty of respect y That’s Exquisite it didn’t go in but as close as you could get and you saw he did not hit that very hard no there’s a that undulation really is a lot steeper than it looks and he is simply doing the courtesy of marking there to not put an additional divot in the green knowing that it’s going to be in the Putt in the purview of both of the two other of his playing Partners going left had the right speed but not the right line now if he I would expect this next putt to be outside right he’s got a if you watched anything and learned anything from that we haven’t seen a putt stay right at the hole from this side yet today other words follow the break towards the water yes same thing just pushed it left mayay was one over through eight see and men are both three over through eight yesterday a score of 66 in round number two some pretty docile conditions best round on the boys side right now is two under Davis woski and Alex holder both have done that and the pow that you hear off of the tea for Sly cook and berini or beini I should say just heat off on nine the group that is behind them I referenced wat nooski and holder they’re in that group they’re playing together both two under they are joined by Carson Looney holder is a local product by the way so to speak he is from Fort Wayne again for those of you watching from say outside of the Indianapolis area the state of Indiana only about hour 45 from here northeast corner of the state wosi will be just a sophomore in high school next year it’s his second time playing in this event I’m not sure if there is such a thing Lance as an average Junior schedule when you play at a National Tournament level but how many of events like these are these top Juniors trying to play in a given year you know I’d say good number on a national schedule is probably six sevenish t- shot here wind just pushing that ball to the right seeing a lot of t- shots missed there on the Green same thing at 17 we’re not seeing a lot of balls on the green are we no that’s activity I think on the 16th Fairway that we’re looking at there oh it is you’re right yep frankly the three young men that were off the T on 18 all looking Fairway so you’re seeing the next group back which would be JJ mper who’s a local product Bradford Lacefield and Charles coffin 17 second chip on 17 and close oh so close group on 17 woski holder and and Looney back to those coming up 18 still he’s going to play at the University of Cincinnati Cincinnati again playing golf in the Big 12 what sort of program do the Bearcats have Doug Martin head coach former PJ Tour player uh played at Oklahoma and he’s been in Cincinnati now wow he’s been there a long time and uh one of those programs that’s kind of in and out on the bubble a lot in and out of the Regionals this year they made the Regionals had a uh helped me with his name Ty um Indiana kid won the Big 12 this year oh goodness slipping me um he played as Cincinnati he’s an Indiana product me look him up gosh darn it time no it’s go back to 17 Ty gingr there you go remember the name I do yeah he uh from Gan Catholic right yes won the Big 12 for him look at that putt outstanding effort back on 17 he might be the answer to a trivia question has there ever been a Indiana kid win the Big 12 in men’s golf and he is one of them maybe the only one this is on 18 we have one player that is off the Fairway here and he’s a kid that probably would have played in this event if it was around back [Music] then this is stly lays that up but he’s got a good approachable shot from there so now we go back to the Fairway for Cook and barini Cook is heading to play at Mississippi State barini uncommitted so Mississippi state has players on both the boys and girls side of The Ledger playing in this event approach here from the Fairway deep I was going to say it looked like it jumped cook still has a year of high school golf left to go even though he is committed to play in Starkville he won the Mississippi junr in both 2021 and 2023 chance for something good here and again it checks up so one on the Dance Floor One shy and one over it this Trio of players in the Pete die division Drake Harvey is in the lead he has four shots clear through nine Brady Smith Philip Dunham both a two under we got a trio a golfers at even Park as far as this group is concerned still one over through nine cook is even par on his round today beini is at 3 over verini 7879 yesterday exact same scores as cook a day ago Sly 77 and 78 we start today as a shotgun at 8:30 the idea that weather was going to be inbound around noon around 1 that thankfully has been pushed back to about 2 o’l so we have fingers and toes crossed that we will the radar looks good hit the weather window like it was the Indianapolis 500 a week and a half ago you know I don’t think we’ve ever seen a ball up here either no that’s a cook that uh has to somehow defy the laws of physics on his next shot here’s stilly this is his third L it up to this point he has bogied and doubled this hole first two rounds now will it stop rolls all the way through they’ll have that for a par so now Jackson cook cook birdied this hole on the fr first round yesterday Bogi the whole second time through I’m not sure what piece of advice I would give here yeah it’s a just a tough shot because it’s awkward you you got to get your shoulders parallel with the ground then you got to lay the blade open and then you got to swing it and commit to it there’s just a lot of things going on that you have to do well his shot process might be changing as we speak that’s going to roll the ways away yeah I think the his lie I don’t think was very very good well again you and I have been doing this for the last three years and I’ll tack a year on before that Y in terms of being in this seat and I’ve been around for all five years I’ve never seen a ball in that spot on this hole it’s a couple of par putts here and one birdie putt birdie putt belongs to beini perini doubled this hole second round yesterday par it in round number one perini is coming off a double on the last hole looks like still is going to be the first to go here you don’t want the putter here just took off and again I’m I’m not saying that you know trying to hit a wedge there is any different be is gonna get to watch and observe for a little bit here looks like Cook’s ball was well past the hole the group behind them has already made it to the 18th Fairway one of the one of the rare times we’ve had somebody waiting right we’ve had some gaps say between 18th green and 17th T but act 18’s moved around pretty unencumbered until now here’s cook likely a couple of Bogies perini looking for a birdie and we’ve seen one of those and it was a chipped in birdie through every threesome but one of the girls division that’s pushed right yeah if we’ve yet to see a birdie putt go in correct it’s all only birdie was the chip in and again I can tell you that’s that’s standard for this hole we feature this hole in show 17 because of the layout and the story telling yeah certainly the whole location not because it’s the most Gable hole in the golf course it’s been done saw last year’s winner and Philip Dunham do it in the group that is awaiting this one woski holder and Looney monoski two under on the day holder one one under on the day Looney four over so this group now will make the turn they have completed nine holes as the winds again really start to whip through let’s see if this group can continue the pace there on because woski and Holder have two of the better rounds of the day going to the back of the green just through but given where that shot was taken from that’s not a bad result from that distance away now the approach from the right side of the Fairway this could be good if it will it roll the answer is yes it will funnel to the back half of the green see that will be a birdie Putt and that is how you do that well the difference being in the Fairway to the rough correct it’s going to roll out if it’s in the rough takes away the spin away from it get one more from the Swale it was sent out to the right will that ball hook back or stay right how about right on line look at that almost cared off the ball on the green that would have been a good break but again from where those all were just off the Fairway not bad approaches from this group for these guys they have made the turn so to speak let’s take you to the group that is behind this one on 17 this is bumper Lacefield and cin coughing a young man from Columbia South Carolina but it’s going to play at the University of Kentucky Lacefield who is from versales Kentucky he will be a junior next year made birdie and buper again he’s an Indianapolis kids GNA play at the University of Dayton out of this group in terms of how they have done today coffin is two over for his day mper is five over for his day and Lacefield is eight over now that doesn’t include the results of that hole again all of these players are in the kind of bottom third of the boys field mention the fact that of the group that’s back on 18 holders at one under Watos is at two that has moved him up to a tie for 21st in this 36 player field this is 17 and that’s a tap in and that group now will move to the 18th now we getat you back to the 18th Gren ni a little strong on the chip here’s Looney Looney is from Bethesda Maryland but he’s going to spend a lot more time in the near future in the stakes he’s committed the play at Indiana here’s what NSI will have the birdie put you he’s he got the line I think he needs to play a little bit more the break than what he just pointed at see what they do here what nski birdi three of his first five holes today this group teed off on nine take it now have a look of disbelief that that one did not go but again a four is always a good score here that one is collected job well done that’s holder did you hear the sound of activity back on the 18th t this group now is on to play eight more holes so let’s go back to 17 group that is teing off now on 17 Bradley chill Finn Burk holder and Ian ch Jones the next group through Chill from Columbia Station Ohio he too going to play at Indiana University Jones is class of 24 but yet Undeclared as to where he’s heading Burke holder is a High School junior to be from the Woodlands Texas just a community that’s somewhat well known for the golf in The Woodlands Texas Burk holder four over for his round chill four over for his round Jones two under so Jones has one of the best rounds going of the tournament he has moved his way to a tie for 18th Jones with 7576 yesterday and trying to put a number that begins with a six on his card at the end of the day today again that wind is Dead behind the golfers right now on both 17 and 18 they’re kind of playing a guessing game as to exactly how much you kind of need to add into that or take off almost from a club standpoint those golfers head to to the 17th green our golfers on 18 heading to find their balls in the Fairway or somewhere in the vicinity of get a chance to update you on the top of the leaderboards on the boys side again Drake Harvey three clear of Brady Smith four players currently under par Harvey Smith Dunham and Wang for the tournament on the girl side shemmer two shots clear of Emma Wang Natalie yen is at two over this is action now on 17 that’s Bradley chill Jr he’s four over for his round today this is the 11th hole that this group has played coming off a bogey on 16 had a birdie on 15 just missed that one that should be a par he’ll come to 18 with seven to play so we break away from the action on 17 to bring it back to the 18th Fairway this Tri with golfers bumper Lacefield and coffin and that one short of the green just buried kind of that front left side but again a lot of green to work with on that chip now again somewhat of a blind shot here got him that Swale so from our perspective we only see the the white hat of the young man that’s about to it’s about about 185 hit one towards the Green 180ish from there the Lefty factor helps on that shot and he’s going to like the result again this will this funnel down take the turn and an absolute thing of beauty birdie putt from behind the hole well done he may be thinking I need more blind shots right we just think about the swing and and not be focused on the result know if we had a plot graph here there are closer shots from balls in the rough than on The Fairway absolutely just a it takes the spin diabolic a hole y it’s a really lot of variety in this golf hole kind of makes you think Pete D knew what knew what he was doing yeah I would say so coffin of this group won the Paris Island ajga event last year finished third at the Keith Mitchell event a season ago Lefty approach here and now will the ball stop it does and it does trickle towards the back but given where that ball hit kind of on a Downs slope you were thinking there could be some issues there no that’s looking at a couple of Birdie putts of this group job well done JJ mper finish six at the Highlands ajga event for here’s coffin back to the 17th T box now here’s cin think he picked the right line and the right speed he’ll like this a lot that ball just settle get not gim me from that distance but certainly makeable and this is again while that is his third shot the other guys are getting ready to have birdie putts that is as good as we have seen a group attack this hole all day long wonder if Mr coffin is aware of the importance of that last name in the state of Kentucky cin as in the name of a very famous Jacky Steve cin from the 7s and ‘ 80s and that is a state where that skill set is very much appreciated here we are on 18 chill Burkholder and Jones the group that you are seeing on the 18th T Aiden Gutierrez from Val perzo Jason Schwarz and L Luke Mueller the group that you saw on 17 so we have kind of three different groups that are playing 17 and 18 right now here’s JJ mper for birdie nailed it there we go and being a local product he’s got some family and friends here to watch him play here’s lace F and for sales Kentucky so not that far of a drive for him one shot of 63 in an ajga event he’s won two times on that tour we’ll tap that home for his part now cin to give this group a collective score of one under on the hole which would be the best that we have seen so far let speak it up and down as well but of all the places to miss on this the screen that’s about as good of a place as you can miss just pulled it left they just can’t read the break yeah and this is where I point out we see it 72 times they see it once so a birdie a par in aogi so get next group to follow this one Bradley chill Jr from Columbia Station Ohio Jones from an Arbor Michigan Burk holder from the Woodlands Texas both chill and Burkholder by the way for this group this is their 12th hole so they’re starting to wind down the action today they’re both at four over Jones too under for his day now we’re back over on 17 that standing roll there my goodness look at that able to knock that one home so again the trio of players there goodier Schwarz and Mueller good as a local product from Val perzo former ihsaa state champ and again doing this in the midst of the ihsaa state tournament he’s going to play at Baylor next year all three of the golfers you’re seeing in that threesome have made their college commitments Baylor Wisconsin and Michigan State a second Spartan player we have seen Mueller of that group is a year away from playing college golf here’s look at mu young man from Wake Forest North Carolina just so you know that is not where Wake Forest University is located it used to be and it was moved decades ago to Winston Salem Wake Forest North Carolina is actually closer to Raleigh Durham so if you learn something today Lance there you go that’s not going to be confusing to anyone ever at all you’re watching activity from the 17th green lers on 18 not far from reaching the green here here’s Schwarz how does a young man from Florida end up at the University of Wisconsin well anymore any more these players the programs in the north have as good as facilities as anywhere oh absolutely you know it’s just not as big a deal as it used to be let’s face it you have to dedicate resources to indoor golf if you’re playing in the north right there’s no question about spending money on facilities now we go back to the 17th green so this group that we are showing you now will Preston Talon Harrison Jacob settles Penn State South Carolina and Kentucky amongst those represented as we are quickly working our way through the field and we have some construction work going on around us with the windier than expected conditions to make sure we got a little bit of cover so we can see monitors and laptops and notes and things like that so we greatly appreciate the staff at Crooked Stick working around us and working around the golfers to make our coverage as good as it possibly can be today because while we’re we will happily trade the wind for rain or thunderstorms I think the amount of wind we’re deal today kind of caught everybody a little bit off guard I think they’d rather have the wind than the rain though that is correct you’re seeing the guys on the 18th t as play is moving pretty quickly for these groups now here on 18 now you’re looking in the 18th Fairway and this is the chill Burk holder Jones group we’ve got two balls just off the back of the Green in two be interesting to see how much he tries to If he tries to use the green to run it back there or if he wants to spin it the answer is run given his shot and Landing location there we go that’s going to end up good yep that will funnel down to the hole and give him maybe five feet a little bit more Bradley chill Jr like he’s going to be the next to play finished tied for fifth last year won’t have the same result this year right now he’s tied for 26 went 7873 yesterday Drake Harvey has been comfortably in the lead all day and that is not changed he was one of two golfers to shoot sub 70 yesterday and he went low at 66 he’s right now three shots clear of the field so chill to play here how about that our second ship in of the day yep the unconventional three but a three nonetheless well done for the soon to be Indiana hoer you might see a few more of those that’s where the balls are going to end up and it’s a very makeable Chip Shot as seen two of those should have gotten a good read off of that I’d expect this one to be close as well well and Burk hter a part of the US amateur last year finished top 10 at both the Stan Utley and St Augustine amateur events a year ago just pushed that to the right surprised that did turn a little bit more left I think he was too this is for par rolled that one in confidently next group behind this group is heading towards the middle of the 18th Fairway and connects tourament starting to wind down for these guys so as they head to the potentially the clubhouse briefly before they head over the first hole let’s go back to 17 this group on 17 Preston Harrison and settles Preston from Grand Rapids Michigan will play at Penn State Harrison from Canapolis North Carolina you could say he’s an intimidating golfer he’ll play for South Carolina settles from Winchester Kentucky and he too will play at the University of Kentucky so Wildcats well represented in the field in terms of both the girls and boys tournaments on the girls side make sure the scores are updated before we give you a second look at them now back to the 18th Fairway Scarlett shmer by the way is three shots clear on the girl side so we’ve got a pair of tournaments with two three shot Leaders with now getting to be six seven holes to play goodier Schwarz and Mueller the group we’re looking at here does that sense almost hear the conversation you can hear the conversation probably about 175 for Schwarz here Schwarz see if he follows instructions left side now will it Nestle Down no missed his aim Point by maybe about five feet we have seen balls all over this hole y there’s a ball uh as far left as we’ve seen in the few years we’ve been here as well that’s from goodas must found the water off the tea so by far the best Drive of this group about 110 yards I’m guessing yep that’s the third and last player to play see if we can get a wedge in here close kind of pitched it see if it runs now will it roll no kind of saw that from the ball flight too much spin yep and that’s when you’re from the Fairway and you’re so close that’s the rare time he’ll have to fly it directly at the flag throw it at it be interesting to see the shot coming up here by gz jerz three over for the day eight over for the tournament 7574 his first two scores of his rounds yesterday it’s be nice if those players leading can hang on to a three shot lead on this down stretch these are 17 and 18 correct Muer even par for his round to day after going 7575 yesterday Schwarz however too under on his [Music] round after going 7574 and the soon to be Wisconsin Badger has worked his way into the top 10 Schwarz has just one bogey on his round that came back on the 14th he par the 17th goodier is going to be first to play tell me about the program he’s going to at Baylor Lance well one of the most liked and well-known coaches in the game Mike McGraw and so for Coach McGraw to come and recruit this kid he must be a he fits his his mold because mcra is a really hardworking bluecollar type guy and so he’s going to a good program Baylor was at the NCA championships this year top 20 team Gutierrez was the high school state champ two years ago in Indiana is this going to catch it not enough again miss his aim Point by a foot or two yeah just a little bit further and I think he would have been pretty close ceras played this event last year 78 7979 looks like he’s already sporting the Baylor Baylor logo there on his shirt Aiden this is the third year in a row he’s played this event he he actually finished tied for six two years ago here’s a quick chip that thing will pick up speed and take off frankly I think he was scared by goodier as a shot before him that was Schwarz so now here’s Mueller and this will be for birdie but but it is an area code putt that he has here he’s even par on his round that will pick up speed at the end of the day that’s pretty good effort from that spot yep he by far has the most comfortable par putt of the playing partners he has by the way goodz who’s going to putt here soon as he is done with this round he will hoof it back to Northwest Indiana his valarezo Viking team has their Regional tomorrow morning shot at 80 in their sectional effort which they won last week on their home course looks good how about that going a smile out of him I think that was a bogey and that was a really good bogey correct cuz he was in the water off the tea that was a really good bogey considering where two of his shots came from somebody once told me you only have to hit one good shot to have a good score pretty much and that was the good shot that’s the putt of the day we’ve seen so far you I don’t blame the young man if if his attention starts to turn towards tomorrow to work is way back for the state championship that one rolled home too could we see three one putts that would be a relative first for the day time always flies it doesn’t I just looked down and looked at our clock and you and I have been doing this for the last three hours and 40 minutes no not enough speed fortunately for Mueller of five so group awaiting them in the 18th Fairway Preston Harrison and settles the next group up they’re on about a four and a half 445 Pace I believe y actually let me check that Lyall Jud and and wand are the group in front of them got tripped up again by the A’s and B’s yep I’ll figure out one of these days well the worst is when you go out to the hole and in your your B group and you’re like when do I go right after a so these are all young men that are Undeclared in terms of their college golf and larg because this is a young group Lyall will be a high school sophomore Jud who is from Louisville will be a High School Junior and Wyland from jup to Florida will be a senior next year these are all young men that are looking to figure out what college golf will look like and this is the first chance in the all four mentioned three hours and 45 minutes you and I have been on how has the transfer portal and the world of name image and likeness how has that affected recruiting in terms of college golf oh it’s probably not quite like you’ve seen with basketball football but it’s you know it’s the portal there are programs that don’t even that are not even recruiting High School anymore they’re just recruiting the portal which is terrible in my opinion and you know the nil isn’t what it is in golf sure compared to the others but there are there are some schools that do have niil money and and kids are getting you know most of the the good n money and golf’s coming from the Taylor Maids the titlists the you know the pings the the manufacturers but it’s definitely played a bigger role with recruiting in the portal so will D on your screen he was part of the Kentucky high school team championship before he was actually in high school you can do that in Kentucky you can you can play as a Junior High student in in high school sports he was the Kentucky PGA Junior Player of the Year in 2022 so we have one on the edge of the green one just off the green SH now waiting to play Wyland of this group one over for the day Lyall two over for the day Jud at one under he has worked his way into a tie for eighth here’s his swing approaching the 18th green will it get the proper roll no hit that Ridge and just stopped and turned right it will be a lengthy birdie Putt and everybody in the boys side Chase and Drake Harvey who just gave up two shots Harvey’s lead is a two-shot lead they are through 14 so they are down to four holes left to play this is the group that is back on 17 we’re starting to get into the pay window if you will portion of the activity to put this in perspective the group we are seeing here here with Lyall Jud and Wyland we only have six more threes that we will see come through here so we are quickly flying up the charts I want to thank Tony pancake head of golf here at Crooked Stick thank the worth wins Lily Harmon Mr Scutter so many of the Great members here here’s the action of the 18th T so this is Preston Harrison and settles as I got those confused a moment ago they were the second group to tea off on five so this is their 13th hole of the day or 14th hole rather so the guys you see on the green the guys you see on the T box they will finish on whole four love the hat style of that young man by the way yeah you don’t see many bucket hats you got to be good to pull that off all right so here’s our chip and again just very tough to stop the ball from that angle chud will have a go at his birdie putt realistically looking for a two putt here got the speed right should be a makeable par from there they just never get it started out far enough left to have a chance to go in J looking for his first under par round of the week but 7473 he has been Mr consistency in this round if he makes that putt that would be seven consecutive pars another birdie putt here again Lyle is at five over for the tournament two over on his day L and four for the tournament and one over on his day didn’t like that from over left his Club it’s slow going back towards the hole yeah three putts all from the same side of the cup here just missed it that’s a five now Jud for his four he has now worked his way into a tie for seventh so the leader starting to come back a little bit here we’ve seen a few misses yeah that’ll drop him back to a tie for ninth and we are down to three players under par on the boys side Drake Harvey a two shot lead on the boys [Music] side that one rattled home so our next group up here on 18 Preston Harrison and settles settles one over for the day five over same exact numbers for Preston at this point Harrison has worked his way to 10th and he is one under for his day he is trying to have backto back underpar rounds he went 75 or 7771 yesterday I mean this group has all made College commitments Penn State South Carolina and Kentucky respectively you’re seeing activity back on 17 that group is Whitaker graser and Vander Mullen that’s on 17 cerman has played this event numerous times he’s right now tied for seventh Whitaker four over for the tournament now we got the group even before them that’s on the 17th t box that’s Miller bun and Campbell that’s players going to Michigan State Oklahoma State and Oklahoma respectively on the 17th T So as you’re watching players on the 17th T Lance and I are locked in on activity around the 18th green and we’re getting down to the final few groups to come through today so now we’re back to 18 so we’ve got nothing but birdie putts coming up here for this group on 18 Preston’s going to play at Penn State settles will stay in Kentucky and play at Kentucky Harrison a year from now will end up playing at the University of South Carolina since kind of we’ mentioned Kentucky let’s talk about Penn State in South Carolina what sort of programs are those two young men headed to well Penn State is uh obviously a big 10 school new coach this year uh still trying to find its way in golf this this season uh South Carolina is without a coach right now uh they’re in the process of doing interviews and trying to probably find a coach by the end of the week or early next week thank so one player the chip here yeah fortunately his ball looks like a sitting down a little bit more than what we’ve seen from the players that have had that same Chip Shot earlier handled it well though this ball turn just missed it but again great shot take your four and move on so the lengthy putt here this is from Preston man from Grand Rapids Michigan he’s got to get it out here to his left did he get enough just may have look at that look at oh my goodness again that’s a heck of an effort from that distance Preston a Rolex Scholastic Junior All-American and the Michigan Junior Amateur champion just pushed it right well earned four that’s for settles here’s Harrison Harrison knocks his home of this group Harrison right now tied for Ninth at three overpar settles at five over same for Preston so maybe not going a challenge for the championship but will finish in the top half as those guys now have four holes left to play they’re all battling for points rankings and whatnot Drake Harvey a two shot lead on the boys division we’ll see start to see them in in a hole or two on the girl side Scarlett shemer now has a four shot lead she and Caitlyn Huber who we saw on the first group coming through today they’re both two under on the round but shemer now has a four shot lead with five holes to play now you’re seeing action back on 17 and if I have the groups correct this is the Miller bun Campbell group we’re seeing on 17 Eli Walker Campbell is the player about to see one of the players is going to chip from off the green that’s Eli right there Richmond Texas is going to play at [Music] Oklahoma rolled that one well past he’s got his work cut out for him on his par putt Drew Miller of East Lancing Michigan also part of this group not surprisingly he too is going to Michigan State so sparty’s got three players playing in this field today and then Parker bun from Ogden Utah he’ll play in Oklahoma State and Oklahoma State’s been known to produce just a couple of pro golfers over the years a few including one from this state Richmond’s Bo Van Pelt and as I joke because Bo has spent so much of his life now in Oklahoma that he’s only known as Richmond’s Bo Van Pelt in the state of IND Indiana but yet when he got to play in the BMW Championship here mhm which was the first PGA Tour event in this state since Crooked Stick in 1991 both talked about how that special that was because his home tournament always been kind of the memorial in Columbus right but to get to play one here and the following he had in that tournament here was really a sight to behold so Miller bun and Campbell these guys are playing 17 do a quick check of the leaderboard to give you an idea as to how they’re doing the best of this group is Drew Miller he’s two over for the day and two over for the tournament Bunn is four over for the day fortunately Campbell’s had a rough go of it he’s at eight over for the day Harvey maintaining a two-shot lead he Smith Jordan Wang right now the players that are all under par over the course of approaching 50 holes these golfers hitting putts on 17 group in front of them is approaching the 18th green here’s that on 18 in this group Whitaker cerman Vander molan wher like Campbell a hole behind him heading to Norman Oklahoma in the very near future graer will play at Princeton Vander Molen simply is going home he’s going to be a High School junior in the state of Michigan this approach that will be a the The Stance is the biggest problem I think on that shot yeah the ball is whole high but you will be standing well below the ball trying just to funnel that down that was Whitaker Asher Whitaker they had that approach from witon Kansas approach from just off the Fairway left that ball short so two lengthy birdie puts and then a chip to figure out okay what can be done that was graser that just sent that ball towards the hole rer last year finished tied for 20 in this event Vander M also played in this event last year and he finished tied for 22nd these are all players that at least two of the three that know this course very well thanks for joining us on the ISC Sports Network my name is Greg rraw joined by Lance wringler golf Week Magazine I want to thank our tremendous ISC Sports Network crew they have been absolutely tremendous so thanks to Jordan shu Walker here in shyal Hut Ashley mizo and Ashley I’m sure I got your name wrong I’m sorry about that Braden Foster Chase ice Nogle Aaron van waly Elden wheeler Matthew Stein Rachel Henderson Dylan LAX as you can tell it takes an army to properly cover golf this is perhaps the single biggest production we do every year on ISC we hope you’ve appreciated the coverage now for the last four hours here from Caramel Indiana helps when you have bigger feet doesn’t it it’s a big kid right there and you’re seeing action on the 18th T we’re locked in on Asher Whitaker here in front of us just want to just kind of Chunk it just a couple couple yards and it’ll roll right to the hole oh he elected to do something a little bit different yeah it’s going to take off on him I think that might have been a Miss hit Whitaker still inside is play partner so now he’ll get a chance to kind of reset a little bit Whitaker by the way the 2022 Kansas amateur champ finished tied for eighth last year at the junior players event graser and Vander Wallen to put this is the Miller bun Campbell Trio it’s currently teeing off and again after the group that is on the te we only have three more forom to make their way through that’s going to be a better putt than maybe he felt it was when he hit it had the Speed absolutely right and I’m not sure that the line would get any better if you had moved that ball out to his left yeah it’s just a just a lag putt Yep this is something that he should have been able to learn from watching that put I would expect this to maybe have a chance to go in if he learned anything let’s see here he definitely took it out a little more just going to lose its speed yep going to finish almost the exact same spot but again he had he a little more speed he had that and Vander mullen’s at three over whiter at four it is a pretty tightly bunched group between three over and five over there are currently 10 players by the way Drake Harvey got his two shots back he’s now four shots clear of the field Drake a young man from Las Vegas that will be a High School junior next year so Harvey just eagled the 15th I was going to ask if he made an eagle we’ll see him in one of the last groups through so four shot lead on the boys division currently Whitaker attempts his par and at last report a four-shot lead in the girls division Whitaker will have to settle for a five graser currently at two over and even par in his round Taps that home so this group moves on Miller bun and Campbell all await Miller is at three over B is at five and again Campbell’s had a bit of a rough closing round a quick update of the score sher’s lead is now three on the girls side and as with four holes left to play Harvey’s lead is four with three holes remaining so the boys group will actually finish in front of the final girls group this is back on 17 this should be Finley Bartlett Jordan Wang and Morgan Riley we just kind of from our position vaguely have line of sight to the 17th green but this group led of the 18th tbx momentarily Morgan riy that just missed that putt this is a group that are all high school seniors to be Bartlett from Cincinnati will play at Ohio State Wang will head to Michigan he is from Ontario Riley from Raley North Carolina yet to make his college Choice good looking putt there well done to syn that one so Jordan Wang with the birdie Jordan currently in third place it might be a race between he and Brady Smith for second at this point Wang is a one under par so he is one of the three golfers on the right side of par for the tournament so back to the 18th Fairway 180 yards just left side of the green which is the side you want to enter on pulled it all flight looked good off the club face but this catches a slope it’s going to that is the preferred path of Entry shot and I try to use one of my favorite Rick Carlile quotes whenever I can he knew the geometry of the game had the curve figured out well we’ve had two chip in birdies no birdie putts made so far in our time on 18 today and this approach now will it stop it does and that probably is going to be our best chance at a pudle birdie of the day that will be what a shot yeah that was right on line for a two we did have on the girls side one that that hit the flag stick from the Fairway that did not lead to a bird he end up leading to a to a par a job well done by this group take another look that might make the golf shots highlight reel at the end of the day right there for sure absolutely now we go back to 18 and this is the next to last boys group of the day Bartlett Lang and Riley Riley at even par he is tied with last year’s Champion Philip Dunham currently for fourth place Morgan’s brother is a golf professional got a chance to play PE Beach as part of the first tea program as Morgan as well joining Riley in this te group Finley Jordan Wang Jordan one under on the day Bartlet one over Jordan both one under on the day and for the tournament Bartlett two over today and one over for the tournament Bartlett a 69 yesterday second best round of the second round the one that completed almost at 9 o’clock last night so all three off the t on 18 they’ll head towards their various positions in the Fairway looks like Bartlett is the furthest down of that group with that back to 18 here is buns chip attempt and then from that position that’s about as good as you can do Parker going to play it Oklahoma State young man from Ogden Utah he’s four over on the day five over for the tournament birdie putt wouldn’t let him in that that is one difficult whole location for these players to read that was bun on the putt my apologies so now Miller and Campbell get to play this one out this is just slow going back not much in that one just some straight yep and now for the exceedingly short birdie putt Drew Miller give that young man a three third of the day here at 18 it’s easy when you hit it that close that it is so that puts Miller into a tie for seventh puts him at two under or two over for the tournament and two over on his day and also comes the heels of three Bogies in the last four holes so now we go back to the 17th T and this is the lead group Drake Harvey Philip Dunham Brady Smith Smith from the Louisville area and will play at the University of Louisville next year Philip Dunham from paver Beach Florida our defending champion and Drake Harvey who again at last cck had a four shot lead again then the two groups behind the one on 18 those are the players that are playing the traditional 18 in order good shot solid effort by Smith Smith is he was four shots back at two under par heading into the 16th we do not have a score yet from the 16th for this group so here’s Harvey here’s the leader and I can tell you that Dunham Bogi 16 Harvey Bogi 16 Smith parred 16 so Harvey on your screen three shot lead so what’s got to be the mentality knowing you’re protecting a three shot lead with two to play safe spot of the green just nothing risky you can tell there’s concerned there what he’s behind the hole Yeah so not great but maybe not as bad as he originally thought probably hit a little and here’s longer than he wanted to Dunham last year’s champ in a playoff he has made this an annual part of his calendar why wouldn’t you couple chip shots and a putt for the lead group Dunham’s third consecutive year play in this event he won last year in the playoff with Luke Colton Dunham went 68 7474 now we go back to 18 one ball at the edge of the green one off to the far left hand side of the green one more to play just checked up and we have seen that so many times that’s exactly if you’re going to try to funnel that ball to the back where you want to hit it but the spin of hitting out of the Fairway Chang is what you can do with it so some work left to do for this group as they play there next to last hole of the day this group has some updating of scores to do they are shown as as being a little bit behind on the scoreboard so we don’t think that’s going to make a differ difference frankly in terms of the kind of end result given the lead that Harvey has stake to but we do not have scores past what would be the 14th hole for this group against the last group we will see will feature the top girl girls players so the boys leaders making their way to the 17th green right now this is the group that’s on the 18th green Morgan Riley GNA last check even Parr he’s goingon to go with the wedge here we’ve seen both Putter and wedge used on similar shots he’ll be able to spin it but he still got to get it high I think if he has any chance of stopping it near the hole every shot we’ve seen from here ends up 8 to 10 feet past the hole now will it stop a little spin yep that’s well done outstanding good touch still have that for a par so maybe the longest putt we have seen today is from the soon to be Michigan Wolverine although he’s got one more year of high school I think he needs to aim at us he’s got to get this a good 12 to 15 ft to his left there may need to be a stop for refueling on this play you got to get it out and let the break take it to the hole yeah he did didn’t he the idea get it far enough does he have the right speed going to pick up speed yeah but again from there I’m not sure what else you’re going to do so he’ll have a putt from The Fringe to save par and again once we see those scores updated from this group we’ll have a better idea as to how they’re shaping up but this is likely the battle for third fourth and fifth you’re kind of seeing of the guys on your screen now Bartlet at last check was one over this is a birdie putt we saw Gutierrez make one of a similar length not this exact line for bogey a handful of groups ago and again look at at how close that came to making it but he’s got a bit of an ener coming back by way let’s update you on the girls division uhoh shemer’s lead is down to one she has bogey backto back holes on 14 and 15 so a little little more tightly packed on the girl side as we see that last Trio making their way down 16 as we speak that’ll be a bogey I believe that last girl that girl’s group’s on 17t waiting the leite I believe so here’s Riley getting scores for this group are a couple three holes behind so we’ll try to update you on the back end as to exactly where these young men are got it pretty well handle where he was to get that down and two yeah that was a really good up and down here’s Bartlett Ohio State Bound from the Cincinnati area has one more year on high school golf left to go Buckey made it to the final four this year in golf we say f o r e final four I like that it’s like the last boys group is wrapped up 17 I see people starting to make their way towards the 18th T box here see in this group now we’ll go play the first hole as their final hole because they teed off on two that round is right at four and a half hours we got two groups left to finish 445 it’s going to everybody started at 8:30 local time this morning in shotgun style to avoid weather that thankfully has kind of gone from a noon start to a 1:00 start to sometime after two and frankly it was at about 3 yesterday locally when the heavens absolutely Unleashed two more three s left to go so here’s our group of leaders again their scores are updated Harvey Smith Dunham as they played on 17 this is Smith we showed you the te- shot of Harvey that he was a little concerned about as he hit it over the green Smith right now is in second place hary no problem there dead center little fist pump yep that tells me that was probably for a par knowing where he was behind the green and dunh him Smith able to finish his two putt score is not officially recorded yet from the 17th green we think we got a pretty good handle on it and now I can tell you that all of them parred 17 that has been updated also the group in front of us now their scores have have updated right is at even par Jordan Wang is at one over Finley Bartlett is at plus three so again these are your boys leaders these are three of the top five Harvey at five under Smith is at two under Dunham is at one over three shot lead correct it’s doable so the obvious answer for Drake Harvey is don’t put it in the water how do you best approach that from the T box just think he’s taking a line down the left side and I think we’ll see this ball where we’ve seen most of them so this is Smith and Smith is three shots back of Harvey he’s two shots clear of Riley now I will say this one is a much easier finishing hole than 18 is so when you’re not going to finish in the same hole I’m not sure how concerned Smith is with finishing second or third but thinking about the guy behind him probably can’t afford to Bogey this hole so here’s Harvey Harvey was the Nevada state fora Champion for high school golf and he was the state junior Champion two years ago or three years ago rather in both Nevada and Utah wind kicks up just as he’s teeing off he’s kind of staring it down a little bit yep right in that little little Valley which is safe probably about 200 out one 190s here’s Dunham last year’s champ third year in a row he has played this event Ponto VRA Beach Florida of course also a very popular golf residential town so Dunham won’t repeat this year but another outstanding finish and just Uncorked one down the left side not sure it stayed in the Fairway but still a big ball yeah he looks absolutely crushes the ball off the te of all the players that we have seen come through here the last 5 years that kind of pass the eye test uhuh y well length and speed is so important hit it as far as you can figured out from there there’s the suggestion box right there if you have a idea You’ like to pass along to the greens committee you can swim out to that post that’s where your suggestions in theory officially checked I’m not sure anybody’s actually ever officially that’s what I was going to ask you do you think there’s anything in it now now we referen the fact of you know Dunham has been as impressive as any player we’ve seen but let’s also say that three years ago Nick Dunlap finished second in this event he won the US Junior Amateur in 21 the US amateur last year and he won the AMX earlier this year so already this is year five of the event and we have a PGA Tour winner that has played this event it’s amazing how how ready they are to win at the professional level at such a young age we are down to our last two groups to come through and frankly the next shot by Harvey likely could end any really kind of drama as far as the boys championship is concerned the girls has gotten a lot closer it is down to a one shot lead for Scarlett shemmer we’ll have eyeballs on 16 and 17 as they are finishing up as well and again boys will finish first and the girls will year five of this event this wonderful course kind of rattled off the history of it right off the top of the broadcast there is certainly none that can match this place from a history standpoint locally there’s more major golf coming here in the future as well of the various events that have been held here Lance which ones you had a chance to check out over the years I think the only one I’ve been to was the Western am y um trying to remember I think that’s the only when Cy won you know Western am couple years ago I got to be here for both the first BMW Championship played here was 12 and 16 but then I was here for the solheim cup and the solheim cup was amazing here yep was lucky enough to be able to walk inside the ropes for a part of that so cool yeah those team competitions are different vibe and that guy may have been there for it as well he probably was he maybe has been here since day one so Harvey looks like he’s going to play first and again nobody landed in the Fairway of this group and if you’re Harvey what are you aiming for here you know he’s just front yardage take the water out of play keep it left simple Harvey is two over today so in theory he’s going to have his worst round of three and still has a very good chance of winning the tournament again his back nine has been treacherous except for one hole that’s G him a lot more breathing room that was that eagle on 15 he has three Bogies in the back nine he has parred this hole each of the first two days and just aims it down the Fairway and left total a up shot yep yep yeah he took he took the left or the right out of play didn’t correct yeah I think he knows where he stands and there is a giant scoreboard these kids can to look at here at the edge of 18 I like to seen him be a little more aggressive I don’t think he need to go that far left he’s going to make a little bit tricky over shot this this could enter it will it turn it does oh yeah that would be Philip Dunham he knows the course well he knows which way to go that’s awesome great shot there can he birdie this to win on the playoff last year it won’t happen this year but knew exactly how to play that ball so here’s Smith again how aggressive does he get to put pressure on Harvey oh he has to take dead aim the math is he birdies Harvey doubles so with that he’s going for the flag and just hangs on up he gave it a go I don’t think he knows that it’s up right it did hang on we have line of sight to it here so again that realistically probably ends Smith’s chances of winning but if you can get that up and down he’ll finish in second place and that’s like nothing to sneeze up think about Harvey shot if it looks if we could see it from here he might be up against the cut the cut line which makes it a a little tricky he does have the proper angle of attack in other words he can just kind of aim for the for the edge of the graen and just let it roll from that spot he’s got to cover that bunker that’s that’s his ball well back in the Fairway and the High School junior to be just walked the green to kind of get the view and of what exactly his shots going to look like so again the final girls group Behind These Guys is on the 17th green now so we’ll track the action there as best we can and Harvey being well away as first to go Dunham will have a birdie putt but again he’s not going to factor in the decision he’s potentially playing for a tie for fourth or third even what you estimate distance on this one lance about 65 yards to the hole just curious what kind how he’s going to hit this shot just with that that cut line of the grass it just really makes it a little bit difficult does the wind at this distance make that big of a factor can’t it’ll help him because he can be more aggressive because it will knock it down but the just the thing you worry about here is with that grass being a little bit higher is hitting the ball thin and then catching it hitting it long that’s the one miss here that he’s got to guard against so he’s got to really go down after it and pop it high I would say his aim Point frankly you kind of see Brady Smith in your shot there off his left shoulder I almost think that might be his aim point it’s a good shot and it will check up beautifully he had to go took a big divot had to go dig at it which exactly what he did and the idea is you two putut from there you give your you give a stroke back and Y at worst you win by a shot and that would mean that Smith would have to hold this for that to be the case a great shot really Under Pressure that is outstanding execution for a 16-year-old young man I don’t think one person clapped that was pretty good tough crowd good effort here good effort here so again that should give him solo second for the soon to be Louisville Cardinal so Brady’s going to finish 6973 72 so he is in the house at two under and 214 I think Dunham will go just to kind of get out of the way knowing time and score for lack of better phrase again this putt would put him at even par for the tournament we will have two golfers finish below par if he hits this one unfortunately done him today this would be for a 76 after shooting 70s in both rounds yesterday so Dunham Taps that home he’ll finish tied for fourth and he’s just going to be a High School junior I hope we see him again here next year so yes he played this after completing his eighth grade year two years ago so this is his third correct I would bet we will in theory he could play this five times so again frankly multiple shots to win this to finish with a par on the final hole and to win by three well won’t get it but good enough yeah rarely do you smile when you miss that putt you do and you have a three shot lead so Harvey will bogy the last for the first time in three rounds played but he will do so knowing he has a tournament championship in hand he’ll head back to Las Vegas Vegas with a pretty impressive piece of Hardware congratulations young man Drake Harvey will be your winner a of the Pete and Alice die junor Invitational Pete die division handshakes being shared and frankly Drake be one of our younger winners Philly Dunham was kind of the same way a year ago so Drake is your boy’s Champion he’ll finish at four under par is round 7166 and 75 to bring home the championship Drake maybe sent our Direction we’ll see if they they’re going to bring him up here so we can kind of talk to him well that is going on now the leaders of the Alice die girls division are on the 18th team we do not have the reports from 17 just yet but from [Music] 16 shmer had a one- shot lead so Drake Harvey joins us now here above the 18th green congratulations young man thanks what did you know about this uh course kind of the history of the D before coming here to play in this tournament this year I just knew that hitting the Fairway was really important even though I didn’t do that very well today but I knew also chipping around the greens is that’s the thing that saved me today but well a 75 today but let’s talk about the second round yesterday a 66 we have not seen a number like that in this tournament um what was working so well for you in round two yesterday done I putted the best I’ve ever puted in my life like no question but I hit probably I think I missed one green all day so I mean I gave myself chances every single pretty much all right the wind today and again you play Desert Golf are used to some winds kicking up from time to time obviously different weather conditions here how big of a factor was the wind today I think it helped me as much as it hurt uh but I mean it helped on couple par fivs and I knew that since I play in the window all the time and most kids like don’t have that very much but I knew I could it gave me a little Advantage listen winning winning the tournament means it was a great tournament but just kind of the overall Ambiance atmosphere the treatment you’ve gotten from the staff what is this experience in Indianapolis been like for you the last three days this has been pretty awesome I’ve never played a course in this good a shape and just like the people here awesome and finally very few tournaments like this have a video stream like this so is any anybody watching from back home right now you want to say hello to uh I’m not 100% sure maybe my grandpa might be but uh that’s I think he’s probably the only one all right so I’m not sure if the trophy is big enough where you have to have an extra seat on the plane Ry home you can figure that out in a few hours let you go enjoy it thanks for the time congratulations thanks and Dre Harvey again he is your winner of the boys division here for the Pete and Alice die Junior Invitational thank you very much and now we’ve got one more three golfers to kind of track here for this tournament and and they are back on 18 getting ready to tea off as we speak Scarlet shemmer Emma Wang and then Athena sing our last Trio that we will see on our coverage today sing unfortunately has struggled on the back nine she really is no longer in contention and it is a one shot lead that shemer has over Emma Wang tremor from Birmingham Alabama she will be a senior in high school next year sh a member of the USGA Junior national team she is the Alabama girls Player of the Year and an ajga Rolex Junior allam Emma Wang will just be a sophomore next year in high school she is from poo Alto California make sure Chronicle sing as part of this group as well even if she is unfortunately not going to factor into the kind of the championship again a rough round for her an eight over par here’s how things went down on 17 for this group that one pull the left sing a two-time Kentucky Junior Champion a two-time ajga champion part of the Rolex girls top [Music] 20 so both those players parred 17 Wing has finished five in the top five on five different occasions for the ajga so those ladies are off the tea and again we do have action on 17 however and those are players that are going to probably factor for say third fourth fifth that’s the first group that we saw come through but again unlikely to kind of factor in terms of the championship Huber of the group that is playing 17 closest to the top of the leaderboard she’s three shots back at three over and she’s going to play at the University of Florida Lance ringler rejoins me now how you how you doing going into almost wrapping five hours of live coverage today here on ISC it’s not too bad it’s been a pleasant day really so shmer a one shot lead and she has gone 7074 she is even part today Emma Wang 7072 she is three over today unfortunately Athena Singh kind of had the wheels come off on the back nine sing in the last seven holes is five over she has had three doubles for her day and right now she is tracking towards an 80 at plus eight so as we get ready for shots number two of all of our final group just land your kind of overall impressions as to what we’ve seen in terms of the course the way it’s been played Talent Etc yeah for sure I think the if you go back and look at the very first year obviously we’ve had big name players and whatnot but just looking at the commitments and the kids and where they’re going you can obviously tell that these are Big Time Players and you know they’re headed to power five schools and obviously the effort of Crooked Stick and Tony pancake and his staff and everybody that puts on this event is doing the right thing because kids keep coming back you know you got some of the best players that keep coming back and playing and that’s a testament to how well the tourament is and great golf course and the way they treat him so I think most Juniors would would look for a spot in this field if they could get one well shrer is the furthest down the Fairway of this group that’s a good signed for the player that is got a one- shot lead looks like it is Emma Wang that is going to be the first player to give it a go she is in the Fairway a little further back and again she’s by far the youngest of this group just getting through her freshman year of high school she’s away flies this right and it stays up well a nervy shot there but still certainly possible to get a two or get there from two more shots to keep pressure on shemmer to have to this hole so sing is up next Athena from Morehead Kentucky good looking line here yeah I like the way it looks and should get a pretty good roll here it’ll roll through the back Edge but again we’ve seen that yep up and down for two and and she’s still in the top 10 so now here’s shemmer and looking at those around her only Caitlyn Huber who again has played this event numerous times who’s in the group that’s finishing on 17 as we speak only she has a better round going today Sydney given at even par on her round shemmer at even par on her round what’s your estimate on distance from this point I believe she’s brought 155 she has parred this hole each of the first two days a in left side this could be really good as it dialed up perfectly this will catch the slope this will run down toward the hole this will finish right on the collar of the green and again she basically has two putts from there to win the tournament if she holds that she is the outright winner well done with the pressure on the line yeah I expect I thought that was going to get a little bit more stay a little bit more on the green it actually had a lot of speed coming out of the rough as we’ve seen all day long shemer had a four shot lead at one point again she’s even on the day she birded five seven and nine on the front nine she then bogied back-to-back holes at 14 and 15 Wang will go first and obviously this shot she’s about to take will give us a much better idea as to exactly how much pressure will be on sher’s effort well in the last group we nearly saw hole out from that exact spot it’s possible so pretty straight forward Chip Shot we referen Huber in the in the group behind this one she finished tied for fifth last year right now she’s got potentially third lined up Thea Singh a part of this group finished tied for 20th in this event a year ago and want to thank Tony pancake Chris and Sally worth wine all the wonderful membership here at criced stick for having us out for a fifth consecutive year simply put this one of the cooler things we get to do each and every year on the ISC Sports Network and that will come up well short so again two putts to win it for shmer sing will go next want to thank our ISC Sports Network crew Jordan Shu Shan Walker a in Shel Hut Ashley Miko thanks to Braden Foster Chase icenogle Aaron van waly Elden wheeler Matthew Stein Rachel Henderson and Dylan LAX Good Ship by sing just pushes it left she’ll have that for a par Putt and that’s to stay in the top 10 wind starting to howl as you can tell it’s been a mixture of sun and clouds all day but not a drop of precipitation that will change at some point what’s the aim Point here for our tournament later I think more more than anything it’s just speed she just wants to get the get the speed dialed in and leave herself just to tap in two shots to win the tournament but it’s got to go a little bit to the left all you needed right there she will Mark and allow her to finish Wang has to hit this to put any modum of pressure on shemmer players walking up behind the 18th Fairway are done with their round so if you see some walking behind the action here it means they’re heading back at the clubhouse Emma connects on the par PT so she will finish at one over and again shmmer has to make that tap in finish the festivities this afternoon thing trying to get home with a par and does exactly that tap in to win it no problem Scarlett shemmer she is your winner of the Alice die girls division of the Pete and Alice die Junior imitational here at Crooked Stick congrats congratulations the high school senior to be from Birmingham Alabama and year number five of the die Invitational is now officially in the past tense we’ll get Scarlet up for some final words but Lance want to make sure I give you the opportunity to do the same as well just your thoughts on what you saw today just uh well first thing is we escaped any potential weather so that’s good correct uh great day like I’ve said I mean I’ve come into this event for a few years now like I caded in it and it is a fabulous event a great event on the schedule and one all the Juniors look forward to you know by all the coaches being here that the talent level is here and uh just expect the next five years to be nothing but the same Lance pleasure great job as always thank you very much we’ll have him pass the headsets over to our again our girls division winner next time Lance and I work together be a basketball game so he’ll be actually on the floor I’ll just be wearing headsets talking about it and they donated golf ball as well we’ll hand these over to scarlet and she’ll join us now so Scarlett shmer is our girls division winner how does that sound to you congratulations thank you I’m really uh you know grateful for this win I feel like it’s been a long time coming uh I didn’t really have my aame today but I just stayed patient and trying to do my best no I found it funny you birdie three out of five holes you have your aame that’s that’s pretty good um a big picture question what’ you know about this course and about kind of the history behind it before you came to Indianapolis this week well crooked sck first of all obviously there’s so many great players that have played here and won here coming into the tournament I said to my mom how cool it would be if I came out with a win because there’s so many you know Legends and current players that have been successful here uh not only that but the course is really difficult fortunately the rough was grown down a little bit for us this week but um yeah I’m just I was grateful to be here in the first place and I’m grateful to leave as a winner you can hear the the wind rustling in the background how big of a factor was the wind in today’s round yeah the wind changed a lot of my shots and I had to do a lot of you know adjusting to the adversity I was facing a little bit here on the back nine is when the really is when the wind really picked up but so over there and my caddy Quinn did a really good job of helping me get all the numbers I needed to and I’m happy with the way things went now we have a listing of those that have made a college commitment at this point and didn’t have a name by by your name but but I do see a particular ball marker that you have on your visor I’m going to University of Texas so I just committed a couple weeks ago so I didn’t I didn’t submit it when I applied for the tournament but um I don’t go until fall of 2025 and I’m super excited to hopefully win with that team too well congratulations on the win we’ll let you get the trophy thanks for joining us yeah thank you for having me got it scarla tremer again she is our winner of the again Alice D girls
