We got fitted for new PXG irons. Crazy results! 2024 REVIEW

We got fitted for the PXG 0311 XP Gen 6 irons. These irons are still the best forgiving and longest irons in 2024. We were shocked with the results. As always, the PXG facility and staff are absolutely amazing. Could not ask for a better experience.

welcome back to the channel you may recognize this place from our last video where our man here John mcder fit us into the Black Ops driver and they have been nothing but amazing for the last couple times we’ve played them yep um today though we are here for Jimmy Jimmy’s going to try out the pxg 0311 XP Irons which are the irons I play been I’ve been gaming these irons for since uh day one and I love these irons I used to play the tailor made p790s and I was here for a putter fitting and just happen to try the 031 XPS and had to have them and Jimmy finally got to hit my irons and I think that’s why we’re here today he’s uh going to do the same thing he’s gaming the tus t200s so John you got anything you want to add for the XP arms no thanks again for uh coming in and working with me um yeah the Gen six iron line is great right now I mean there was a big update from Gen 5 what happened is we made the face 15% thinner we already had the thinnest face in golf and then we made it that much thinner we made it better so you have access to that polymer so it’s much more forgiving than what Gen 5 was we’re also seeing um a little bit higher launch better spin numbers and uh I personally on on my clubs I see an extra five yards so I absolutely love them they’re lofted down more aren’t they they’re the same as the Gen 5 The Loft hasn’t um I noticed like my my 7 iron the T200 it’s 30 30 Dees LT correct compared to your t200s the XP is I believe 3 to four degrees of difference 27 um you know we do have the player head iron which is going to be the exact same Loft so we can look at both and see if one feels or performs better for you okay okay guys if you haven’t checked out that uh black Black Ops driver fitting check it out right here yeah it’s a must it’s a must okay well let’s dive into it see what we can get into okay perfect oh that was a shank right off the bat we don’t say those words in these parts right off the bat hey it’s it’s catchy which is good for all right John all right Jimmy a little off yeah so that’s okay like we talked about a little bit before we’re going to look at something a little more forgiving we’re going to look at some numbers here uh deleted the bad ones Ki the good ones and we’re going to look at kind of your average so I’ve got you at you know 144 on on the carry um you know swing speed is looking at on average you know about 78 miles an hour ball speed on average um 103 um I’d really like to see that ball speed increase um get you a little more distance I think there’s a lot left in the tank and then of course XP is going to be much more forgiving for you okay so the first Shaft I have teed up for you is something in a similar weight CU like we’ve talked about before uh we really like to focus on weight in our fittings um so this is a very similar weight to what you have now in your uh project xlz shafts okay um same length but just going to be changing out the head we’ll hit about three or four shots and see how it goes all right oh right off the bat that just knew wow uh yeah so you went from holy moly that was a 170 yard carry 170 yard carry you know you pulled it and it was a little bit of a hot pull there but um just instantly whole bit whole lot better contact UM that was 30 yards longer than my T200 yeah yeah I knew I’m done I’m [Laughter] done oh yeah those just feels so good just sounds better yeah yeah so that was a little bit straighter that was 160 160 straight down the middle little little baby draw there love it now was that a Miss mhm okay let’s check this out another Miss 168 man still solid that’s nice yeah look at that smile on that face he’s already done he’s like I’m good what else I want to work on yeah I I would like to still try the steel fiber um cuz I his man his irons are just perfect and he hits them really good like it’s one what can I say he’s a good iron Striker for sure with those things that was fat okay chunky chunky that’s good okay switch it out now let’s talk about your first impression first impression those things feel amazing I mean that the s sound did you hear the sound there was definitely a softer sound difference it was very just awesome feeling the sound is really nice and then of course the performance was outstanding right so okay here’s steel fiber so this is steel fiber 95 now these are the XPS yeah XP still the XP yep is that a lighter shaft it is so I wanted to see what yeah how weight affected his contact so Jimmy can you tell the difference between the two shafts like Weight Wise yeah I do okay feel lighter you hit more left with this one it seems huh with this I mean it’s it’s close I mean if we want if you really like this weight you know there’s other ways we can adjust the weight make it feel a little bit heavier um but I do want to look at you know a heavier steel fiber for you as well is that a little toey yeah definitely off the toe still look at that off the toe 164 that’s that’s why I play those right right there okay so let’s switch it up again I’m going to take you from the steel 95 to 110 okay thank you yeah that’s the one is that the 110 yeah that’s the one I got mhm this is what you play yeah 110 yeah nice I like that cuz the spin’s in a good window there mhm yeah so right off the bat like we haven’t seen the the 170 number which I’m not really shooting for that yeah but what I’m seeing by going from a lighter to a heavier weight is much more control actually see it in your swing but contact as well like so far it it seems to be just two swings in it looks a whole lot better yeah I I was about to say the same thing his is he’s dropping it in the slot really easy I think I can feel it better I think with more weight right that felt good yeah dude that’s really good cuz because that right there that spin number is really good that’s going to hold a green [Music] nice that’s a pull but P it but you hit it Square all right thinking back to the very first Shaft the KBS 110 okay which one so far feels better to you KBS yeah I mean the sil fiber feels great too but I felt the KVs felt like it was more like what I play now doesn’t makes sense so before going back to it let’s I want to push the boundaries a little bit okay I like it so we’re going to go to KBS 120 no we’re just going to push it and see what happens with a little more weight um I personally so far what I’ve seen I think 110 is going to be perfect um yeah but I don’t want to miss anything it is for yeah that’s nice I felt good well little bit of a pool yeah I was going to say that that’s almost 170 carry yep ball speed was really [Music] good there’s 170 man 183 I like that okay D what a big difference from the tiess so even though the spin number is maybe a hair low where I’d like it you’re still hitting at 90 ft in the air and it’s landing at 44° wow so even though that spins a little low it’s going to cut through the wind pretty nice I think it has a pretty good chance of stopping unless you’re playing on some super hard greens yeah um because that land angle is almost 45 degrees it’s good I like that but what do you think as far as the weight you think the 120 or 110 is let’s keep hitting it let’s give it let’s make sure cuz you hit the first three with the 110 pretty good and then it kind of fell off so yeah he had a good honeymoon but then well that was a little bit of a pull but that could have been set [Music] up that should be going right I know notice I’m hitting more of a draw with this that was that was your first Miss at 160 still had a good draw to it it was actually a little bit straighter too yeah is that standard L angle John it is I closed my face too much yep all right let’s take a little break okay all right we’ve hit three shafts now feel wise I can’t tell much of a difference between the 110 and 120 12 well I can a little bit 120 is a little bit heavier but um Phil wise I still think to 110 maybe okay I don’t know what do you think got one more I want to try Okay Dynamic gold mids spin 115 don’t you have that Dynamic gold you have something Dynamic gold not old ones I love Dynamic golds felt good that was hammered 170 170 down the middle [Music] nice that felt I could tell I hit that low on the face it’s a good mess yeah it’s a really good [Music] mess oh yeah beautiful okay thoughts on this one I like it too mean I like all of them yeah they’re just good I mean I mean what we’re seeing is yeah a lot more forgiveness going into well similar weight to what you have already so really what’s happening is we’re just putting a you know better technology more forgiveness in your hands and it the results speak for themselves oh without a doubt I mean honestly they’re they’re so good he could make anything work you know what I mean like it yeah really that’s the thing I mean the iron yourself is so good the shaft’s just kind of I don’t know complimented a little bit in 20 swings you’d probably be like yeah this is fun yeah yeah I mean it’s it’s between personally I mean if if the 110 felt the best um I think longevity this probably makes a little more sense than the 120 okay um I also like the 115 I mean that looked really good also let me hit the 110 a little bit more and we’ll see that’s the first one you hit the KBS yeah yeah so is this a regular Flex it is so same same Flex as what you have now okay um your swing speeds you know low 80s high 70s um I mean it’s stiff Flex is going to be much more stable regular Flex you know if you were to slow down a little bit more you’d still be fine you’d be in great shape for you could have these for you know five six years yeah I can promise you we won’t have irons for five or six years we’ll have new set of irons probably every year we’ll be here when the next ones come out that was off the toe I could feel that but it’s hard to tell at the sound sometimes quiet so that was off the toe even off the toe I mean yeah that’s that’s about as good as if I here yeah 15 and that’s why I play these right there cuz I hit everything off the toe if I would have hit that off the toe with my t200s yeah I would have done that that’s going to shave some Strokes right there okay let switch it back so she going do three with each so I feel like with the KBS it’s more of a cut then Dynamic gold I’m doing more of a draw I felt like the I don’t know what you think but I felt like your dispersion on the KBS is is kind of tighter but the problem is it’s on both sides of the center line you know what I mean but it feels like they’re it’s tight dispers kind of kind of splitting hairs yeah there’s some small adjustments too with waiting it be able to work possibly too so I think he just hits this one better this one yeah I agree yeah that box it up I mean and the thing is is all the same same shot Landing you put a blanket over where they’re Landing your swing looks a lot more that yeah you take that one bad one out and look at that take this bad one out I mean look at that yeah they’re Landing right on top of each other see if I can get [Music] that okay and then this is the the KBS 110 oh yeah so like Aaron was saying like it’s it’s a little bit of both ways yeah so it’s a little bit wider um you know the 115 there’s there’s a lot of things I can do to that um I do want to look at adding some weight to that head to see if we can move that a little bit more to the right um I don’t think we need to make it lighter so I do want to do that and then the other thing um that we could do on the build side is I could soft step it a little bit um so I can make the shaft just play a little bit softer um could soften that draw a little bit and it actually could feel a little bit more like this KBS but I think the weight’s the most important here okay want adjust the weight yep all right so what I did is I added an additional four grams of weight in the head uh what standard is eight this is 12 okay so things I’m looking for is contact for one don’t want to lose that I like the contact right now second thing is dispersion to see if it’s going to move it and have it get more towards the center line okay so you added four more grams to the Head correct okay H same thing that was severely off the toe okay but I mean look at that Miss yeah not bad at all just lost a little bit of distance but it still carried 154 oh yeah it’s way left yeah okay so back to standard law no we’re going to go 10 grams so an additional two grams compared to the eight so two grams lighter than what you just hit okay to me contact kind of got sporadic on that one mhm let’s take a look at that head real quick lost some consistency so so John you added the weight here two grams yep okay mhm here or here just in the center weight that big Center weight in the middle that’s the only when we can adjust that’s a better was hit well yeah that was nice yeah 18 almost 170 carry 94 ft in the air landing at you know almost 46 degrees you’re not even in your summer swing yet yeah that was chunky too but y I mean the dispersion is super tight yeah I think we got a win give me about two more okay so I can have some some more data and I want to compare it to the the standard weight again a little skinny yeah but it’s still one way Miss so as I’m making these weight changes are you feeling a difference from one to the other not really no it’s okay there’s a lot of people that can’t that’s why I’m going to you know rely on trackman to kind of do the work for me let’s hit about three Swings with this this is back to standard okay [Music] that was good all day oh yeah spin was a little low but still yeah [Music] yeah I’m still trying to change things in my from our golf lesson last week that we had iron lesson so I’m still trying to change things right speaking of if you haven’t checked out that video check it out check it out nice now here’s the issue you’re you’re going to have this is going to be a major problem okay you’re going to get these arms you’re not going to want to play the other ones until those arms come in that’s the problem I had I didn’t even want to play golf I was like I’m not playing with these yeah y seven to 10 days seven to 10 days it’s uh and we have a tournament this weekend yeah we got our stroke play match this weekend for money and everything yeah in our men’s league it could could be a lot worse problems to have MH that was a thin shot but got away with it yeah look at that man 180 M okay yeah so dispersion very consistent you know I don’t necessarily mind a draw I personally play a draw so to me that looks good but let’s look at if 10 GS really really did a whole lot I know it’s less data but I’m actually seeing very similar results between the two I’m not sure is the height of that [Music] prev height with the tangram on average is actually couple feet lower what ever that one is that’s the one I kind of like that’s just my opinion but what is this one this is standard standard this a standard weight yeah I mean I I think I like that better especially if I if if I can throw it up higher which means it’s G to it’s G to stop little easier yeah land softer so I think I like that more me too okay so what are we going with Dy Dynamic gold 115 um got one more thing it’s always the last step that we look at okay now you’ve been playing standard Li in your previous set the numbers are kind of showing me the same thing but I want to see if contact changes um I’m curious you know if we were to go one way want to see at most One Flat um but yeah that’s kind of what I wanted to see what what c one or two flat would do just out of curiosity so is that two flat this is too flat this is what we have to test with okay L angle why we do look at this last is that’s something we can always change uh it’s a free service here at pxg we have you come in and what’s known as a spec check um takes about 15 20 minutes you’re never without your clubs so you know if we go one way or the other if we leave them standard or something we wait to see what we see outside um and you can always come back in and uh be happy to bend them for you that’s awesome that’s good to know information right there yeah it is that was a little bit better swing mhm okay so I think I like standard yeah and this is partly one I want to show and and kind of teach people sometimes is just because you’re hitting it left doesn’t mean go straight to Li angle um that’s why it’s always last like contact’s the most important thing and that’s why at phg we focus on weight because I can do more with weight and helping dispersion than I can with just L angle um cuz even going flat you’re still hitting it left yeah right yeah like yeah typically you know if you hit the ground first with the toe the club wants to twist open not always the case so um yeah I just see a lot of not necessarily Fitters but I see I talk to a lot of amateurs that want to change the lle if they’re hitting it one way or the other and uh you know I’d rather have you come in get fit or you know have a specialist look at it and then of course you know take a look at the equipment and see if there’s a way to you know add weight you know lead tape you know if you don’t want to buy new clubs lead tape’s always an option as well yeah okay good deal so yeah the last thing that I wanted to talk to you about doing is is soft stepping these um to kind of help with dispersion but also increase the spin a little bit um and I think longevity wise I think that puts you in a better spot okay I’m good with that so uh John he ended up in what the what shaft did he end up in so it’s the dynamic gold mids spin uh 115 G okay and the Lo The Loft and I mean the LI angle ended up standard Li angle we’re definitely going to stay standard I want to see how you hit them outside first and then if we need to make an adjustment we will okay what about the weight did we change the weight weight we’re going to stay with standard as well um it was close between the standard 8 grams and 10 I just think the the contact was a whole lot better with the eight grams than it was with the age the 10 I agree and again that’s I think that’s what makes pxg stand out from all the other ones is the the option for adjustability we tried the adjustability it didn’t work we ended back up in standard but it’s cool it’s cool to even have that option to do that you know yeah fully customizable um so I guess before we end it let’s look at numbers shall we yeah yeah all right so let’s let’s go back down to yours okay let’s always want to go back and look at what we were comparing it too so you know 77 78th miles an hour ball speed on average 103 with your top end being 106 carry 152 um yeah really good you know height land angle spin numbers but contact we had to delete quite a few CU contact was kind of an issue yeah um this is what we landed on so swung a little bit faster this is going to swing weight a little bit lighter um I’ll show you that before you leave on on what we dropped I think we’re going down to probably d0 okay compared to your D3 um which is helping you swing a little bit faster you know that’s also helping ball speed on average carry 164 now you know spin numbers a little bit lower height still in a good space I think we’re going to see I don’t have any issue or I don’t foresee any issue with you holding greens with these yeah um you know your best shot was probably that one 170 yeah so that was 170 straight down the middle you know spin it’s you know 5,000 Heights at 93 landing at almost 46 nice so love what we saw there yeah absolutely that’s money yeah that’s a big change I mean from carry distance the average carry distance was what like 160 average 164 compared to was it 143 yeah so we’re talking we’re talking 20 yards huge my total distance is less than my carry distance for the pxg that’s crazy that’s crazy I love it cool all right guys well Hey listen that was some great results we saw there obviously the pxg I mean I was just hitting it so much better it felt better sounded better um love them I mean my gain what 20 25 yards on carry distance alone so can’t can’t say enough about pxg guys and I’m G to tell you if if you’ve never been to a pxg store store come check this place out uh youon off of West timer uh do we have them but they’re I mean they’re everywhere so wherever you live look up pxg find the closest to a store get there as soon as you can thanks again uh thanks again to John for helping us out taking the time to work with us John appreciate it it’s my pleasure guys I love working with you guys I love to support you know Cloud9 and your guys Adventure going forward with this um yeah right off the bat the very first swing love what we saw you know kept him in the same weight just changed the club head and it was instantly 20 yards more contact was better um forgiveness speaks for itself I think you know the M hits are going to be so much better you’re going to hit more greens just going to have more fun um and that’s that’s what we try to do here we want to make the game more fun um and you know make it easy you know golf’s hard enough yeah I think this was a great uh this is going to be a great video for a lot of people because there’s a lot of good uh nuggets in here of information and also uh it’s going to be interesting for me now because I’ve been preaching to him about switching back to game improvement irons and it’s going to be interesting to see just how many Strokes he’s going to drop just by doing that in my opinion because of the M hits agree I agree all right guys thanks for watching make sure you hit that subscribe button smash that subscribe button we’ll see you next time right out thank you guys

  1. I am relatively new to golf and am interested in the Gen 6 XP’S. Currently playing an old set I was given by my brother., TM rocket blades. Do you think PXG GEN 6 it’s too much club for me for my first new set of irons? Thanks!

  2. Great club’s but Spin and landing angle toooooo low, loft up with the XP or go with the P’s. I had the XP’s and couldn’t hold any greens in the summer. Good luck!!!!!

  3. Finally a fitting with a player similar to me…I also have the new T200's and disappointed with distance, and also have a PXG fitting coming up in 2 weeks..can't wait…thanks for the video..

  4. Going through a swing change, yet getting fitted? Your fitting will not match after your comfortable with the new swing.
