[Music] [Music] [Applause] hello and welcome back to round three coverage from the 2024 Portland open presented by latitude 64 we are back at Glend East for the back nine you’re watching Joes Pro with Nate ston Jeremy coing and Paul and it was a fan fantastic final hole for Isaac Robinson with the big skip eagle and just a hole that you would never think would be Eagle such a cool reaction off the ground and it’s still the Ganon bur show seven shots clear of the next guy on lead card Drew Gibson very slow front nine but Nicholas anelo doing some work there seven through 17 holes he’s 10 under hot round for the day several other players very tight in you know you think about it if you take away the the guy on top the field is incredibly tight just like this event always is so if gber was just sick this week we’d actually have a pretty normal Portland open but the the separation that he’s been creating has been something to pay attention to there’s really no way to not pay attention to it yeah I couldn’t agree more than yeah here what you know what hold 10 is a par 4 it’s 710 ft there’s a mandatory on the right in a bunker short rollers need to get past that bunker there’s also air shots these guys are going to do and right before the basket there’s a green behind the basket behind the hill there’s a big time slope so you want to hit this little Gap here send it through and then from there he’s going to actually have a difficult shot some sort of stall Heiser or maybe anheiser putter but highly technical from where Isaac threw it he split the tightest two trees on the fair away with that shot I’m sure you thought it was on purpose too huh Jerm that one I’m going to say not much but he is quite accurate yes he is if he needed to yeah yeah could no question y henan just again once just pummeling the disc just huge t-shot these guys don’t need the roll oh that’s pretty bad but he still has a shot in at the green absolutely yeah it gets past the tree line it’s it’s okay this is got to be a roll but I don’t think he’s been rolling this disc so this is just a nice little popped air shot and he’s going to get all the distance in the world that’s well over 450 ft yeah I mean even if you threw the t-shot 400 which for these fellas is a is pretty much a shank they’re turfing it into the ground if it’s only going that far I mean 310 in is very manageable let’s see if this has enough distance on it oh wow mid-range yeah so that tells you all you need to know wasn’t happy with the drive still didn’t even need driver well I think he did he might have wanted a little bit of driver you’re right maybe a little more what is this move a little Skipper wow finding another tight Gap this one comes up in a pretty scary spot yeah he’s going to be challenged with that little circle Edge that he’s been struggling with and this one is on a punishing Mound as well big turning shot looks like a little too much turn out there in Isaac Robinson neighborhood kind of a scary hole to have to hit a jumper on from that angle especially this is a good drive just really nothing in the way that has to be 500 off the te don’t you think I think so yeah yeah probably y Yona throws it very very very very far in category if it actually is 710 then I don’t think it was quite 500 cuz that was more than 210 on the approach you might you might be right wow just Air Hang On and does stay in bounds but OB is quite close on the other side of that Hill gon takes his meter lines up a scary putt for most people oh man no oh boy isn’t that what happens pretty solid angle to kind of just die down though thick grass I had nothing left on it after the chain out and this is a lot of work fixes the height takes the par yeah kind of wake up wake up he’s telling himself I’m actually proud of him for just a little love that’s what we call love tap yeah I’ve seen more aggressive Taps before he can he can hit hard too oh yeah I wouldn’t want to get something other than a love tap a good par save for Isaac but that is now putt number six inside 45 ft that Isaac has not converted on this round alone yeah you got to make two of those really is about average oh buddy Nicholas anula oh no bogey free 10 under thus far and just Chucks it out of bounds he gets the move forward a little bit cuz that little that the the stakes go to the right right there only a little bit though requires a huge shot just to get near the green and sit down wow that’s a great shot so that for the par and to remain bogey free oh that’s nasty what a save that is digging deep what a save what a [Music] day and best round on the course I believe yeah I don’t think there’s any other 10 [Music] unders full 11 par five one 1,145 ft very tight gaps off the te nothing super comfortable you can play a lot of different options low backhand down the right side backhand turnover up the middle big roller on the left forehand through any of those gaps there’s a ton of options for creativity you just need to get out into the clear don’t be glued up against a big tree because you want to have a nice Open Swing to attack that huge downhill second shot Eagle is in play here for these guys Eagle was in play here earlier today with a 464 ft throwi in for the three from the thin young bird himself from the thin young bird himself so he must have hit the first tree if he’s 460 away for his third shot like he got messed up with a tree can’t even imagine having a a throw in that long I I just that’s incredible I I hope and I don’t hope it’s it’s a typo simultaneously I’m not sure which one I put more oh you don’t know if that’s well it’s just the that’s what it’s confirmed on on uh pdj live so somebody says that’s 464 and I’m going to make it official okay well he we know he at least three it hats off clean roller for Burr going down the middle is Robinson and that looks like it’s on its way to a fur and indeed it is but gets through the main portion of the Gap that’s fine already very much in play as long as you don’t hit one of these early trees this needs to flip up just a little bit it kicks right though and I think he’s got a pretty open shot from [Applause] there roller or airshot airshot air shot he needs to stay on the anheiser for a long time because that left hand out of bounds comes in quickly but he did well that’s really good I think you’ll have the tunnel down the hill available for the remainder of the hole plenty of turn the right out I think uh-huh nice yeah staying way clear of the out of bounds eating up as much distance as possible with all that Glide this thing’s going to get scent can it Miss some trees please miss the trees if it does it’s on the green please miss the trees dang man that was that might have gotone long all Heiser oh getting a little drift but this is just going to be pin high is it not you’d think yeah I mean he’s just playing the widest part of the Fairway just to get the distance to the bottom of the hill not interested in playing the aggressive shot to get that dream three h he’s about pin High though isn’t he all the way down 100% jump putt left Isaac using the ground as a backboard and I’m going to say G Canon was trying to get the three I think I think it just didn’t stay flat and it might have overturned yeah nice shot there for Yona I just can’t imagine him not trying to be aggressive to get down there for because there’s not that much risk right if he gets tied up with the trees you got to like his chances of getting up and down making birdie it’s not enough of a risk to to avoid oh boy this is man that’s it’s I’m thinking about whole seven again we had the best Drive best chance good call back yep and he just leaves it short opportunity once again to make a nice little hot putt to save the birdie but he hates that he’s in this position right now oh see you went about as far as his up shot huh guys that one stings it’s that that hurts yeah it really does especially considering his second shot had such good shape and power behind it absolutely and he could even jump Hut from where his second shot finish to get him a better look than the than what he left himself with the throw he’s usually so crisp with his short range Putters and mid-range shots from that range you think Ganon was 200 ft when he jump puted that I was going to say when he I was going to say 160 170 probably he has such a spinny wrist for that long jump Hut he put some turn into it I mean he not often you see somebody playing the S shot jump putt like he putted it so hard it drifted right yeah if you’re at home and you’re learning the game right now work on the 200 foot putt cuz I do think in the future that’s what everybody’s going to be doing Kyle Klein working on a solid round himself going forehand for with his second shot so easy from there huh yeah probably a solid 375 or more with the forehand Hiser just into position oh that’s good yep maybe even trying to give it a little bidy I think yeah and a birdie for Kyle on the final hole and that gets him to 18 under par is that that 10 I think it was yeah 10 under shooting 10 under and Drew just with that one Island birdie for the whole round it’s just been all pars and one Lonesome birdie and that that birdie feels real Lonesome right now with a most of the field getting a lot of birdies they’re balancing it with some bogeys Drew at least is staying away from the bad scores but he’s just got to get things going if he wants to stay in contention for anything for top five Podium well this is a good hole for him to do it on he’s been throwing a lot of rollers especially with the flippy nature you also have the air shot to go straight at this bad boy this needs to skip past the big tree to have a look and I don’t know if he did got to give a shout out to Scott Withers who also eagled the big downhill 11 and I think he did it with inside the circle wow Canon bur going a similar roller line from what we saw Ricky Yaki and also Burns it over inside Bullseye that’s awesome this feels like a a short roller like a it’s a tricky little shot I think only 370 I mean it is uphill but it’s downhill uphill you get that Valley shot with a low ceiling it doesn’t really play well for the backand it’s there yeah the technicality of that is actually very impressive with somebody who has all the shots and then just drops down a old school I would say old school roller yeah and I think you know rollers are an awesome tool and they’re pretty easy to throw full gas but like 60% of your distance on a roller that starts to be a really technical tricky thing to do so I’m impressed by these guys is able to wrap the pin able to modulate the distance a little bit Drew likes the roller as well but just doesn’t quite get it to go left enough early now he is left with a very similar and frustrating distance he’s just been faced with all around another 60 to 55f footer coming up be a nice find right here for Isaac and that might be like the first putt outside 45 ft he’s had all round oh been close yep but he’s just been leaving himself those 55 Footers and those ones are the ones you get inside into the 40 mark and it feels like those are the ones that are a little more consistent for everybody you even get Ganon out to 50 55 and then all of a sudden it’s like little low little right good bids but it’s tough to really dial those in and just be like Oh I’m just going to make 55 Footers all day yeah I think you kind of you know only the select few I mean maybe Ganon bur is still aiming directly at the basket from 55 ft but when you start bringing in the need for the putt to drift and move it’s a guessing game it gets harder when you can just go point point to point from 40 and in like most of us do that’s something it’s much easier to be consistent with Co ralin playing with Ricky Yaki on the fourth card that’s a lot of lot of par on a scorecard but I tell you what he had a ton of bids to get to this point that were from 55 60 feet that were nearly in just couldn’t quite find the middle of the basket and he had a really good start we saw him what six out of the first seven he birdied six yeah well he had the par on one I think he birdied the next six after that so yes incredible start and he finds the basket here and his great round [Music] continues we’ll see him on the leaderboard here in a second yeah he is currently right there tied for fourth place [Music] hole 13 Par 3 455 we saw our coal ended up it takes a big shot up this hill I think it plays a little bit farther than 455 just because of the uphill nature and then you have to deal with all these trees which it’s really hard to pick a gap at that distance so you’re kind of guessing okay where am I going to get through you’ll see some people maybe play right right and try to skip it in around all the trees I think that’s the pure route otherwise it’s just throw it the distance but I think this is the the biggest gaps right there yeah oh my goodness near ECE you can hear Ganon say Get Lucky how close was this didn’t require a ton of Lu two three feet short yeah something like that show me something I don’t see yeah one foot one maybe yeah from hitting metal maybe two feet from going in yeah maybe two feet from spitting out man they don’t like to stick from Deep on these baskets as we saw with coal yesterday why you me why’ you remind me that’s a big mistake cuz you still kind of those gaps are not that much easier from there think this hole is just as hard from 330 as it is from 455 like maybe a little bit harder from back here but it’s still a difficult hole you’re still easy to leave yourself Circle to from where you want to put it yeah these trees are all like what 55 ft away at the closest not likely to make the putt if you don’t get past them I like the play that Isaac does right there because you’re guaranteed a look if you’re pin high if you’re short you’re like that 80 foot range oh Drew doesn’t get it ever turned over does find the Gap though and doesn’t even hit a single tree he’ll have a wide open look but at that very familiar distance once again pushing back edge of C2 oh he’s finding a hole through the forehand wide route oh uses Body English and Parks it what a shot nice see if du make the correction get a little higher yeah he did you got the height right yeah and you know that is so close from drifting in still out is Isaac Robinson coming back for par from 24 ft [Applause] and Canon is going to increase his lead over this card to 10 now look at those last nine holes for bur yeah I think I said he needs to get on it he’s gotten on it and a little bit more yes he’s pretty much right back on the pace he’d want to be on I me erasing any of those bad first few holes I just keep thinking to myself when I look at these holes what is this going to play like tomorrow like this long distance upill there hasn’t even been raining this week yeah that might be what it looks like by on the pin oh yeah I for sure it’s going to be sloy if we are getting the rain that the predict we’ve heard it’s uh man once again I’m just looking at Drews it just the one birdie man it’s just so lonely man it is it’s an a sea of par you see that a lot on the west course but out here you feel you feel like there’s a lot a lot more looks you can get and some easier holes to access you look up and down the pdj live I mean every single player is getting birdies birdies Bogies birdies birdies birdies Bogies and there’s just one person just a lot of Flatline right now Drew would love to change that narrative this is a hole where you would love par well not love but you would you’d be very happy with par it’s the hardest hole in the course okay this one this one fits more with uh the West course yeah in terms of the power required to make birdie jeez Louise guys jez Louise not bad just it’s too easy it’s not just not bad it’s just how how are you getting that shape at you know you just threw a completely different shape and now you step up to this one and every single shape out of his hand is comfortable confident y didn’t like this for some reason and I love it yeah I’m surprised I guess maybe was he worried about a fade all the way to the out of bounds the the closer you get to this tree line the harder that second shot gets you don’t really want to be even close to it the second you’d like to be able to go big higher on the second shot if you’ve got the power for it but once it starts Fading Into the Woods you find yourself in a spot where you got to get [Applause] technical oh no doesn’t seem like enough turn no needs help from the tree line now doesn’t really get much is he in bounds though yeah oh wow that’s great it’s almost a relief that he doesn’t have to go at at the pin there’s a lot of trouble totally oh oh no oh man wow but I I find the shot from about 150 ft short really tricky on this hole and I find myself there a lot unfortunately but the trees are just all the same space apart and none of the gaps look good for trying to get get into the basket yeah like this is a guessing game right here does it get in or does it get blocked a little yeah it gets in they’re all guarding right at Circle Edge which is very [Music] annoying yeah it’s in there circle’s Edge this is a monster Drive little bit of wind picking up just at the moment and this wide trying to skip into the basket and that’s pretty good Mama just going that’s for five in a row uhhuh huh no you don’t don’t see five in a row on like this stretch oh this is looking pretty good oh o it needs the put the brakes on and it does it’ll be comes in close on the back side of the green here good height don’t want that comebacker though no Isaac cleaning up kind of leaned that one in a bit it was moving high and right kind of a familiar Miss but that time it is in and true he’s been playing great in the last few holes fantastic I agree good par can Drew do it just just creating the Pacific Ocean of pars yeah just get pars and maybe a couple birdies coming in and then you know that’s how you keep a round going though he’s not giving any back if he if he birdies out from this point on a pretty good round yeah especially because he was in second coming in he didn’t have to do anything extraordinary but he certainly don’t want Gana to run away with it you want to keep him honest but well I mean Isaac beating him by two uhhuh he’s tied with Yona like if you can beat those guys ganon’s going to do what he’s going to do you know at this point pretty much lost cause for this card but you could beat this card you’re probably still going to be in the top 10 which is awesome finally got rid of all the bogeys on the card right there as they moved forward all that purple nobody nobody’s showing any yeah yeah yeah like people who are just tuning in which would be really strange they’d be like man these guys are killing I call this one the pier parkle just looks so much like the famed course down in Portland the big tall Douglas Furs lining the Fairway there is OB right on the other side of the tree line and OB left up by the green I find this hole so refreshing uh when I reach it because it’s just a that’s fantastic just a little bit of OB no Mandos just a little just play some dis golf I I really like it after all the constraints that are that have been on you through this property also it the best line is arguably the sex and Firebird forehand Flex that is a good line it’s a great line on this whole also backhand up the middle is a something something to see when people do that well yeah I would prefer to see that but I expect you to do that line more consistently down the middle part of why I like it might be I’ve had some success on it I can understand that perspective as well I like it too for the same reason all the reasons you listed I like it because Drew throws nice mid-ranges well it’s also nice because you don’t see a ton of 335s on either one of these courses and this is a distance I do not ever want to see get outdated this is the actual shortest hole on the entire property is it not on the on both courses combined is yeah it makes sense I think it is that’s unbelievable two longest courses on tour this course is actually longer in distance than the West course that always blows my mind but the par it’s like it’s like two or three more Strokes a par right so it feels shorter because you’re playing you have more Strokes to use effectively this course is 11,130 as opposed to 10,492 oh just a little bit High what are the pars do you have that data easily 65 for the East and 63 so yeah two two throws to make up that distance which with these guys is like 1,400 ft so that’s a lot two little throws yeah Canon taking advantage of the good break didn’t need it got it six in a row six in a row so good and just pars for the other three back to Cole ralin up to on hole 18 par five big drive out over the small pond swinging left needs to stick and that’s way up there there yeah good wide angle as well gozone I think that tuft is 450 call this about 490 to the basket looks like a conservative and aggressive shot at the same time yeah that’s inside C2 but just making making 450 look like 350 with the smoothness of that turn over yeah exactly for the eagle and a share of that fire Emoji 10 under yes awesome oh pick that back out Ricky Waki like on the disc retrieval the hometown hero they loved seeing Cole ralin succeed huge Eagle putt 19 under and nearly a guaranteed spot on lead card Sunday full 16 Par 3 410 ft tight Gap straight off the T you can go through the middle there you can play backhand roller around the left side you can play forand Roller around the right side just got to find a way to get 410 ft with a little bit of low ceiling I think that’s why the roller becomes a bit more popular because there are some pretty serious ceiling constraints for the air shots on this hole this is kind of that low screaming Hiser shot yeah I was going to say I I feel like with his the way he throws it’s tough to get that low ceiling with something overstable enough to get to the left because it’s going to try to get to the ground so far sure or so fast like Isaac’s arm speed see this disc is going to fade feel like at the right distance yeah again it’s just kind of it’s just smoking through because of how how hard he has to throw it to keep it that love yeah sure yeah would maybe have to like think about a fairway or something crazy but which is so hard with that with that length yeah so this is pretty high and there you see the problem with that it was almost really good yeah Drew once again just a little bit off the te or it’s a little bit off on the green it’s just something can’t quite get it all to click I like that throw look like a little putt like a little putt throw mhm stand yeah has stopped his follow through shot right where he was aiming that was cool I mean clearly he’s here on League card but if you didn’t already know yonah Heinen and very talented disc [Applause] golfer whoa incoming putt yeah the bid for seven in a row a little high now people who are talking about his speed he hits the top of the basket goes over a cameraman shoots up and outside the circle it’s coming in with the heat oh yeah are people out there arguing arguing doesn’t but hard a Maybe not maybe I just kind of just in case they are let’s just stop them down one last time the guy putts hard yeah but that’s crazy hard right there oh absolutely yeah it doesn’t look like when it goes in it’s just like oh that a fast putt right in there but it’s nice to see the reaction like that’s something you don’t see sure it’s like a ace run yeah that’s how a b a disc behaves when it’s coming in from the teapad how fast do you think it’s coming in no 67 [Laughter] 80 fast 20 n Drew’s done it he’s gray out first time I’ve ever seen it on JZ wow Calvin up on 18 he’s throwing his second shot going Fairway driver at that 450 Mark Nate don’t be a lunatic that’s kind of Luna yeah but pretty common for him from that range 450 eag yeah uphill too kind of a little bit Eagle sure thing eagle has landed a second time what’s that take him too for the day that takes him to 19 under okay so maybe Lee card appearance for him again and a round of perhaps minus8 or a round of minus8 nice Ricky now that would be a fun card right there if it stays like that it’ll be a fun card regardless if it stays like that for sure but I would like to see Ricky So me too I’m with you I think we’re arguing for the same thing whole 17 par 4 830 ft two mandatories considerably down the Fairway you got one big line of trees you got to navigate through that if your drive beats that you’ve pretty much succeeded and you have a chance to make a play for birdie I do feel like the approach has a significant luck factor and there just are a lot of trees back in there guarding the basket there’s not like one significant obvious open Gap it’s like a a series of like you could get through this one or this one yep but I want to see Ricky on that lead card yeah I do JM doesn’t for some reason overturned that oh gets tripped up that was a that was like somebody in the hallway just sticking their foot out so not cool dude so where Isaac ended up way right there’s actually a pretty big route that goes around everything I’m curious to see if he takes it there’s one branch in the way whoa this is a monster whoa wo alert nice drive wo alert smack oh no how flippy oh it’s flippy guys yeah yeah that was such a long carry yeah I was worried about that bunker right there just from the angle but yeah perfectly thrown [Applause] roller I am on the barbecue I’m burnt on the barbecue let’s see you’ll see this wide open Gap here that he goes for see that it’s kind of a big gap for how small all the gaps are I didn’t see it when I look yeah I’m seeing it now with the disc flying but it still looked small but yeah I I think I know what you mean there is there is an an Alleyway over there on that right side look at where he’s going I don’t know I see the basket I see the basket back there oh wow I don’t know about that and that’s no easy pitch up and down because what you saw from that line is exactly what he’s going to see on his next shot it’s just a series weird lines I’m rooting for Drew so much right here to get a birdie like just the one of the well probably the second hardest hole on the course as far as birdies go and look at that there it is asking you shall receive I love that yeah me too he’s trying so hard just the sense of humor about it is it’s refreshing that second kick might have saved Yona from potential out of bounds on that left side that could have saved him I think yeah speed huh hole 17 is tied with hole 14 and 13 for the second most or second most seldom birdied holes on the course that on yeah another way of saying Paul’s right yeah exactly I’m I like that hole eight was the least birdied hole on the course eight downhill 500 oh yeah that makes you birdi today mate come on now Canon for par sure yep and guys Ganon Burr he is eight under he has one bogy and going into 18 a hole we’ve seen eagled could shoot his third consecutive round with one Eagle One bogey 10 under total wow opport and not not unrealistic at all absolutely think he can make that [Applause] happen that was a long streak man was a long long streak whole Seven’s jump putt that was the last time Drew Gibson scored under paaw in a hole but yet still bogey free that’s how you want to make your bad days if you can have your if you can turn your bad days into one of those still on the leaderboard too you’re going to be a real nice dis Gooler that’s what Drew’s been able to do I mean clearly not playing to the potential he has or to his plan but not letting that force him into pressing and making red numbers appear on that I think if you can come out to Glend East and have all pars and two birdies you’re more than a decent I me I’m saying I’m taking the course out of it I’m saying wherever you are if you can make your bad day a couple birdies and no big blowups you’re going to have a a nice time out at these tournaments or doubles leagues or wherever you play Oh pushing that initial Tree on the right side of the Fairway and getting up there a little bit tight on the right side edge wants to be a little bit closer to that little blue tuft I know for myself i’ I don’t I bet you have had less than 10 in my career on the pro tour of bogey free rounds really I bet you have had more than that really oh gosh yeah I think so but you probably have never had this many Pars in a around yeah without without having bogey sprinkled in I don’t know if you guys go look at my track record there’s Bogies on that track I I find pretty right comes now swinging in late decently left 450 Mark in great position Eagle is in play how bad does he want it that’s I think the only thing we’ve got to think about cuz birdie is a real nice score too but for him how risky is it going for the green that’s the question with his control I don’t even find it that risky yeah depend we’re going to see the angle but I think the angle is quite good I think we know what Isaac’s going to try to do get past those bran oh no way oh that red flag came up way too fast and I think Isaac needed a birdie to get to 19 to be in a tie for second place I don’t think at this point he had any chance of staying on the leag card with down save the par and finish at 18 under looking good to make that happen nice shot yeah he is so ganon’s putting for 30 under that’s incredible and three identical rounds yeah and three consecutive hot rounds and three consecutive course records I think 32 feet for the eagle wasn’t a doubt in my mind that he was going to make that butt I’m with you I’m surprised wow okay that was a little sloppy it’s good that you get to smile about that par walking off the course a good debut performance on the leag card for yon hinen in showing a lot of skills and just a sad bra D it they’re a tough play to take here on 18 only 10 shot lead going into the final round 10 that’s the question I was wanting to ask yeah but he didn’t shoot 10 down Nate he didn’t shoot 10 10 10 I was actually more entertained by Drew’s round because of how no no hear me out because of how how unique it was this is going to give people at home a perspective of he had like what 12 jump putts from 55 ft something like and it seemed like they were all in a row he keeps the scorecard clean he shoots three under on the round and that puts him in seventh place that’s kind of crazy don’t you think it seemed like he was just falling apart the whole round but not really making it that that’s what I thinking well going into the final round Ganon Bird’s got a 10 shot lead we’re going to see what inclement weather brings to the east course in the end eight underpar was the score to make the cut there were quite a few players at that seven under Mark just barely missing it Garrett girthy biring the last five holes to one shot shot shy of making the cut unfortun nine under par nine underpar round just needed the 10 under to tie the hot round for the day just a brutal way to make it into the Sunday fin Valiant fight to
