Harvard Women’s Golf 2023-24 Season Recap

[Music] 2023 24 was another great year for Harvard women’s golf who continued to show its Talent on and off the course during two successful fall and spring Seasons the Crimson won two tournaments and had two golfers earned spots on all ivy league teams for the second consecutive season Harvard opened the season with a strong showing at the Princeton Invitational powered by a season low tournament score of 215 from Isabella Gomez the team finished third in the field it was the first of several strong showings for Gomez in her final year with the Crimson the Colombian native posted three top five and five top 20 finishes on her way to becoming the all-time program leader in scoring average Harvard women’s golf welcomed two New Comers to the program this season in Las Vegas native Lauren Wong and Canadian Bonnie zy zy led the team and finished tied for six that the Yale Invitational to secure her first career top 10 in New Haven in the spring Z post Ed her first career top five at the Dolores Black Falcon Invitational Wong competed in six tournaments for Harvard including the Ron Moore inter collegate in Denver Colorado that saw Harvard women’s golf compete in the Rocky Mountains for the first time in program history Harvard ended the Fall by taking home the team title in the lady blue hen Invitational at the rovo Beach Country Club by shooting a season low tournament score of 16 overp par three golfers finished inside the top 10 to help Harvard take the trophy including Iris Wong who placed tied for ninth to record her best finish of the season a sophomore Wong competed in every tournament for the Crimson counting 14 of her 16 rounds toward the team scoring the Crimson opened up the spring with a trip to New Orleans for spring break Carissa Shang made her return to the lineup to lead the Crimson in scoring at English Turn Golf and Country Club Shang would go on to finish in the top 25 in the final three tournaments of the spring highlighted by a second place finish at the Dolores Black Falcon Invitational in Bowling Green Ohio down the stretch sophomore Bridget ma emerged as a star for the Crimson finishing in second place at the lady bisen Bay Point Classic to help the Crimson take its second tournament championship of the Season ma scoring average of 73.9 was a team best for the 2023 24 campaign and was powered by five rounds of par or better for the sophomore the Crimson season came to an end at the sanwich club in Greenwich Connecticut after a fourth place finish at the 2024 Ivy League Championship Bridget Ma and Isabel Gomez both had no issues as one of the most challenging courses in New England as the duo finished in the top 10 to earn spots on all ivy league teams Harvard will be saying goodbye to two incredible senior athletes in mayen a two-time team captain and Isabella Gomez the program leader in scoring average but returns a talented and experienced group of golfers who would look to help the team have more success on the course when the 2024 25 season begins next fall [Music]
