TAKOMO 101 Iron user tests CALEY 01T Irons for the first time…

WILL MR HUDSON (HIGH HANDICAP GOLFER) PREFER THE CALEY 01T IRONS IN GRAPHITE?

In today’s video I have brought some CALEY 01T irons for a high handicap golfer to test against his TAKOMO 101 Irons.

Rob sometimes struggles to launch the ball and he’s always moaning about distance! Will graphite shafts help?…

#caley #takomo #golfclubs

welcome back to the channel guys today join us at wonderful woolly par we’re playing the main course and we’re going to be testing I brought a present for you the Cal 01t in graphite graphite nice so you’re a Tacomo user aren’t you you’ve got the 101’s in steel yeah you’ve had them 18 months we did a a review after 18 months on them clubs last week which the video has now gone live so if you want to go and check that out by all means go and check it out get you know Rob’s opinion would he buy Tacomo again out of the worn you all that kind of stuff but what Rob did mention is that he wonders now whether he would have been better getting graphite so we’ve got the call in graphite for you we’re also going to test him a little bit of head-to-head with Tacomo yeah to see if potentially you might go down the route of Cali you know in the future fure I think for you guys at home if you’re tuning into this video it might be that you’re in that sort of price range for your next set of RS like Rob where you sort had a 500 budget yeah when you bought the Tacoma irons and I think these are certainly within the same sort of price range especially in steel but obviously a little bit more of an upcharging graphite but within your budget yeah so we’re going to te off on the first all it’s 313 yards off the yellows obviously hit driver if you need to I’m going to H an iron to start and uh yeah we’ll do a little bit of a comparison and and see I think we’ll H some shots side by side to see if graphite changes the ball flight in anyway or feels any different feels any different yeah for anybody that might be in that sort of you know shallo graphite you know we and and you don’t get the chance sometimes test these clubs here no so that’s why these videos can help right let’s get te off Rob what are you going to tea off with Freewood Freewood right I’ll let you take the on soon as you won the last match which I’ll let you off really lightwe did you get one shot a hole Rob yeah in fact I’m going to h two shots I’m going to h a 5 hour with both clubs and give you my professional opinion on the difference in feel oh no that’s going to be a Reload I’m afraid yeah you got another ball on you yeah dear that’s a Reload is it yeah just while Rob’s just while Rob’s getting set up what we’re thinking about looks then guys get in the comments which one of you thinking looks the purest Cal or Tacomo cuz they’re quite a similar looking col not too many differences come on then Rob oh look here left oh that one that felt really good that was a solid solid ball FL we’re going to have a look at them you know what actually I felt that that felt nicer in graphite I felt I could feel the head a little bit more just made the feel a little bit softer he’s going to try it 5 and C is persisting he’s not giving up i’ I’d say from a course management point of view I probably wouldn’t e a 5 ion Pur but eat it now you’ve got it out I’d be probably eating a 7 ion well I just want to get it up near that PST yeah yeah I know but you’re going over water you’ve got the hardest Club in the bag to it but anyway but the all right let’s see how you do it’s just short you got luy I’ll take a I’ll take a six you going to go c yeah I’ll take it I’ll persevere with his so I get saved by The Rake that could be an argument for why rake should be in the bunkers because that stop roll robs ball going in the bunker now if it if that were off the t- Rob I’d be a bit peed off but see as you’ve had five it don’t really matter no you’ve had six no need rubbing it in I’m getting into him because he just beat me guys and he’s going to be bragging to all his mates after that look okay I W Happ with me stance to be honest are my t-shots this one closest is Tacomo and C’s a little bit further down probably similar in distance aren’t they rob based on angle yeah um yeah all right just pass pit lovely strike that’s better look at that it’s got a bit of spin back concealing that one aren’t we yeah we’re going to move on we skipped at par three cuz that group behind us was starting to look a bit angry it’s reading 135 on yardage marker I think I’m going to go Cal n iron oh that were nice that were a good strike what did it feel like with the graphite in any difference to Steel yeah it feels it feels lighter and it feels it feels different off the face but I don’t know whether that’s the head or the sh the sh what I would say with these graphitees I feel as though they want they’re trying to make you swing it off because the lighter you know I’m someone who’s quite an aggressive player and they’re like slowing me down I’m like smoother with I mean I’ve tried to slow me swing down anyway yeah but when I did that I went yeah don’t you don’t need to kind of you let the club do the work a bit more don’t you we graph I’m not trying to you know fight it let Club do it so Rob who cunted a barn door on First on green and I’ve gone through no way he’s got it oh bird now that is high handicap golf all over in it yeah unbelievable well done that’s a great win net net all in one does that mean you’re getting drinks in Rob back to all Square Four full 306 yards excuse me no we did the second B’s not in the Vlog that were off camera the one where I play a miracal chip you mean that one yeah that one that weren’t in Vlog so it’s all square if it’s not on camera he don’t count great Drive Rob fantastic Robinson’s lost a few balls it’s like John’s trying to find him be that is the tiger line is it on look at that I think that’s best ever shot of it on here how thought you got Rob right Rob I reckon left edge of that bunker not bad it’ll work we shot right Rob you’re going to need some magic with nine iron oh no head up that’s actually it’s not done bad has it bloody hell oh sorry sorry everybody sorry about that right Rob I know I’m a tight yor man but you don’t need you to M it I’m making a mess at e 64 we’ve got a little dog leg par 4 317 we reckon it’s about 175 180 to get to corner so we’re eting five IRS off tea aren we rob yeah you just need to hit it like you H that six I not last on par three strike it as well as that you’d be perfect great shot that’s fine that Rob that’s brilliant gone me forgive names look like players clubs clubs yeah even though like till in I mean the Q eyes look they look decent they’re not like big junk you know original used to get right I think they’ve just seen a pattern of sort ofap has all wanting to use more of a midsize of progressive clubs of the football let’s just make one look like that but with a forgiveness of a cavity right then Rob you’ve got a shot as well remember even if you get to front at Green looky not going to like that pretty close looked in Rob’s bag he’s like sevy he’s got four wedges he’s got 48 how far did you have I four out yeah uh 78 right well you better get it on green cuz I I’m on Green good strike is it going to be short though a little short slight heavy get in the comments guys obviously Rob’s hyppa we were wanting some hyppa you know players playing some of these clubs um do you want to see more of this I know he’s obviously not being very consistent today but that’s handicap golf isn’t it we’ve all been there or some some of us are still there it’s a big po now this is for a four I think he’s going to need to get up and down from where I am look at this slope Way End Rob so it’s the first time I’ve had him side by side Rob and I think I’d sort of conclude by saying you know I’d said they very equal in the quality of engineering you know when you look at them closely they’re very both very well engineered I mean personally for me I’ve always bought clubs on look you know if I had a preference I’d say I prefer the cleanness of the look of the Cal yeah uh from a personal perspective what about in terms of playing with C for the first time and obviously seeing him I mean as I said it they are very similar but the graphite shaft seem to make a a big difference yeah it felt lighter a lot lighter yeah uh and when I middled it it felt sof than the uh Tacomo now whether that was due to the shaft or the club head I’m not quite sure and also when I middled the C yeah and I middled the Tacomo I think the C went further yeah I think that could be part the down to the shafts a little what about you know any negatives from trying and graph out of the first time you’ve always played steel yeah I mean no I mean I’ve heard I’ve heard that graphite has come on Leaps and Bounds over the years yeah with different kick points and like like you can get with steel so I think my next set of clubs I will definitely look down the graphite see and see if that makes a big difference that’s interesting you know well I think for me I’m going to conclude by saying and it’s only going to be based on looks I think performers do a very you know I think the only difference in performance from the cup from the graphic but I would buy C and it’s just purely based on the look of the golf club what about you any preference on no no preference on L they they’re both very they’re both very clean I mean that’s that’s slightly cleaner than the the Tacomo but the are like we were talking about before forgiving irons now are be are going more and more down the route of trying to make them look like players irons I think that’s not a bad idea you know I think people are only going to progress at golf so they hav’t got to sort of maybe look to buy a set as they get to more of an intermediate level they’ll feel like well I’ve already got the set yeah and that’s it that’s the thing is that they don’t they’re not changing from a totally different Club shape they’re further up the Gap the only thing I would say about buying these sort of clubs and we’ve noticed it today especially in my first te- shot is that because they are strong in love because they trying to get uy cap golfers more distance whilst maintaining obviously trajectory as well is that you want to make sure that in these sort of clubs that you don’t get too lower spinning shafts yeah because I think these are quite low spinning heads because of the way that they design so I think like putting a graphite shaft in there pretty much you know it’s a good idea try and get that back spin up a little bit I just say it’s very subtly different to Ste it’s not a massive lead like it used to be I remember try graphite 10 years ago and it were like a piece of liquor it’s not like that anymore if you’ve not tried it it’s I mean I can remember it in a an iron years and years ago like Father mine was really old how can you this it were like the hands were here and the club head was back here somewhere it was so whippy yeah and and these as I said they felt great just lighter yeah just lighter and obviously like you said with the uh a shaft can affect the spin yeah and that’s that’s kind of what in these more powerful Club you definitely to consider that when you’re picking sha you will not need a low launching sha no because you you’ll never get it off the ground would no I don’t think so anyway but guys thanks for watching obviously great to get you on channel Rob and get Hy kapp’s opinion um you’ve played some good and bad gol us yeah it is just usual but thanks by the way can I just say that our best dos were off camera they were actually they were and final point just to mention cuz I ain’t done a lot with Toom or sort of Cal is that I think from a Pros perspective what I would say is I’m surprised by quality of them for that price point you know I wouldn’t you know we’ve tested your Toom didn’t we 18 months old and they’re not showing that much signs of where the W well is that’s where I thought after you know a couple of years of you would start to not fall part a bit T than sort like more expensive and they haven’t worn well so no I mean as to say I play you know three times a week yeah and they so they’ve had some they’ve had some batter and they just look like used clubs yeah they don’t look like they’re on the last legs or anything like that and the grips have uh I mean that’s the thing these both got they both got lamping grips components are good aren’t components are good yeah and recall yeah um but yeah the components are good which and a them to last longer obviously definitely we’ll finish on that point I hope that’s going to help you make a little bit more of a calculated decision and uh yeah we’ll see in a couple of day time guys thanks for watching bye

  1. "my best holes were all camera" that's called an executive decision so said YouTuber can get a victory on his channel😂

  2. I reckon most of your viewers – most of all golf youtube viewers – probably play a lot more like Rob than yourself, Gary. Love seeing 'normal' handicap golfers on youtube. There should be much more of it! I'm a 54-year old, 18-handicap and I've been playing the Caley 01T irons for about 2 months and love them! Only been playing a few years and never tried graphite shafts. I wonder now if I should have thought about it?

  3. Yes – we all suffer the highs and lows during our rounds and it is good to see those issues in the vlogs and how, as mid-high handicappers, we all deal with them 🏌

  4. Great show again mate, big thanks to Rob for getting out there, maybe get Rob along for some new driver testing as I think he strikes the ball like most of us and will really show how forgiving these clubs are, keep them coming.

  5. Nice to see this comparison both between Caley and Takomo and steel and graphite shafts I can see it affecting my choices next change.

  6. The Caley 01t is different than the Caley 01. Like the Takomo 101t is different than the 101's. t's have less offset, smaller head and swing wt.
