on a gorgeous late spring day we welcome you to Hamilton Ontario in the RBC Canadian open that’s Shan O’Hare Eagle putt at 17 it’s a par 70 this week a bogy free 63 for O’Hare Sam Burns here’s his second at 10 started out early Gary Woodland said man he thought this golf course was hard he played alongside Sam Burns another 63 for Sam as well the defending champion from here at Hamilton 5 years ago is that Rory maroy t- shot at the eighth maroy off to a fast start Nice t- Shot there at the par three for par 66 he’s three back of the lead as we speak Tommy Fleetwood lost in a dramatic playoff to Nick Taylor a year ago in Toronto here he was earlier today sticking it close sticking the landing and making the putt Tommy Fleetwood with an early birdie now a moment ago Canadians know how to Roar especially when they see shots like this Matt Wallace up the hill at 18 from the Fairway and listen to the crowd down it went Matt Wallace with a huge Roar behind us here at 18 gu a couple of fabulous shots early on this day one here hockey is King in Canada but golf is right there with it here we are at the ninth with one of those Canadians in the field Cory Connor downhill moving right to left hard yes he can C are we going to see variety of shots played from off these greens this week I think it’s so closely moan we’re going to see a lot of guys putting it the tough part about this is It’s So severely uphill and then it actually goes downhill once it gets on the green theala this for birdie good run at it I think it picked up a little speed once it lipped out back at the ninth Adam hadwin up the hill he goes front left ho location little back back stop there from this angle you can work off of it beautiful so well judged C the birdies three Bogies on his front nine such a confident punting stroke back Shane Lowry I’m sorry George let’s see what the hands are on the Irishman really tight surfaces to chip off of and when you have that kind of form you can really spin it like Shane just did that is so good McKenzie Hughes see what kind of touch he has he needs that Ridge remember the one that AE got stuck on and he’s he checked it perfectly M McKenzie is really his short game has been bailing him out for a long time but he has putting a lot of work into his ball striking and it is showing with his play as of late wow that was fabulous the ring Co first look at the par 313th Ryan Palmer four under on the round yeah fun hole here 195 yds today using the back stop to Perfection one of these holes to George you don’t want to miss short of this pin it will come all the way back about 40 yards down into the rough up a couple to 13 Aaron Ry pushes him to three deep about that start birdie birdie par birdie his first four holes what’s this lie like for Fleet with yeah it’s not good George much rather be in the bunker this is one you got to be careful with you can easily hit this off the other side of the green but that is incredible Master at his craft with his third back to the T of 12 and saw hith staying aggressive going with driver just a low little slider look at that Apex Johnson Wagner it was really cool Colt he had that thing teed up really low barely off the ground at all yeah that was Cory Connors after his ball was rattling around right of 12 in the trees well Steve he got so lucky off the te with that’s an incredible shot from there I’d say very lucky to have a swing and to find it but that’s how you come back right behind us here at 18 Kevin stman in that long thick rough got a little bit aggressive off off the tea which I like how about that control yeah this is going to get better look at this he’s got a chance look at those two shots Ryan Palmer another excellent look to get to 5 under not much in this putt at all level okay he’s a member at Colonial lived in that area for a long long time ended up missing the cut last week but this is a beautiful bounce back round love these uh um markers to the the goalie helmets at the 13th that’s a nice touch Co you leave that stars Jersey at home oh no it’ll be being brought out this weekend buddy [Applause] y going with six iron a little bit back into the breeze well that almost hit a bird now it’s fading towards the hole birdie putt up coming through the [Music] Canadian Cory Connor spury put pretty makeable here from Cory if he gets it [Applause] there how does that not drop that looked good the whole way until it stopped that David skins had a nice run earlier this year at the cognizant in South Florida playing up the hill got to be precise with this one do not want to be short or long how about just right this is going to come back really really close oh it’s going to be a kick in almost slide back to the 15th the gala this is where these runoffs really cause a problem coming out of the rough and oh boy go ahead and try that one again uhoh we talked about how that ball disappeared you have to keep your speed up on these just kind of quit on it a little bit and you know that one’s coming right back to your feet Palmer’s fourth at 17 yeah he got that blade wide open he is on a little bit of an UPS slope that helps his [Music] shot Palmer almost with the unconventional birdie and Ryan at one under here 15th yeah perfect t-shot here now you can take dead aim at this back right pin two beauties likes to work the ball right to left fade for Lefty good comfortable hole location for him hang on though two in a row that shotty in into 15 and there trying to make that move Beauty just a hair right to left he’s got that aimed pretty good ways out love the cross-handed grip really allows your shoulders to be square or maybe he’s just going to try to make it B of A bonus birdie great read for Eric Van royan and he races out to three under par with backto back birdies as good a look as we’ve seen on this green so far today Johnson got to capitalize on this one just a touch left or right okay that’s back to back birdies for btia this is Sam Stevens his third shot at the Par Four probably going to want to skip this just past the hole and use the back stop like this settle now it needs to stay settle oh that was so good Shane Lowry across the green here for par at 16 yeah took last week off and racing it home okay did he call Glass why wouldn’t you sticking with the Europeans McIntyre to get to six under within one of burns no hair shouldn’t be too much in this putt and guys have been feasting on this fourth hole the par five today the two easiest holes on the course the fourth and the 17th 17th playing as the second easiest want to capitalize on these birdy chances when you have them van royan buries it it’s now at four under TI with mroy three straight heating up late on this back nine back one to 17 but ptia nothing in this pot dead straight can of corn ptia to the house with birdies on 15 16 and 17 here’s Adam hadwins third 17 just over the back chipping back downhill a little bit but lots of green to work with that’s well played Beauty this is the fourth shot for Shane Lowry on 17 well and we’ve seen some magic with that club in his hand today beautifully played almost got him back to level par Tyler Duncan two under on his round we won’t see many birdies at the six today 256 yards oh there we go a deuce on the card They added about 40 yards to this hole probably can’t see the surface of the [Applause] green oh man how about that at the fifth Trace Crow this is the driveable fifth definitely a birdie hole oh that’s well done man look at this guy five in a row coming to a close here in round one of the RBC Canadian open Robert McIntyre to remain one back okay keeping that card clean it stays away as we see a birdie try and another man at seven under par if it goes in it does David skins has joined The Fray now San burn sha here David skins out there at 7even under par tearing it up yeah it’s good to see we got a nice shapen up leaderboard here Johnson we’ll see a lot of Rory maroy the defending Champion here at this golf course from 5 years ago nice 66 today it was a nice 66 very comfortable around here we’ll also see in that same group tomorrow Nick Taylor who I’m looking forward to watching hopefully he can rekindle some magic from his Friday round last year and be here for the weekend talking about last year in the playoff nice to see Tommy Fleetwood playing well with a 67 on day won yeah absolutely he’s a become kind of a fan favorite here in Canada

  1. 'Rory, the defending champion from 5 years ago….'

That's not a defending champion then 😂 And did we really need to see Theegala at +3 duff a chip twice? The 2nd time in slow motion? Strange.
