Alabama Softball and Tennessee Softball played game 1 of the Knoxville Super Regional during the 2024 College Softball Postseason. Super Regionals are a best of 3 series, with the winner advancing to the Women’s College World Series.

West Who falls down and she’s having trouble getting after it heading over to Third and starting things just the right way the way Alabama would want [Applause] [Music] it one and two gets away from The Catcher And the first run of the Knoxville Super Regional is scored by Kristen on the wild pitch one nothing Bama and that run right there is just manufactured by Straight speed from Alabama good that b by PR but Pickins wins the battle one away Pickins comes back inside with that drop ball 75 mph called strike three back-to-back strikeouts for picking two down you’ve seen her grow in the confidence in that change up too everything came together Gibson Fair ball throws over the first and in time to retire the side Women’s College World Series a year ago in that opening game in Oklahoma City Gibson and Tennessee took on Alabama this is a laser off the wall it’s going to end up being just a single for bu Gibson hit it so hard that she’s held to a single but that was right on the screw she’s a board with two down Gibson now five for seven in the tournament and puny lifts one the right field she swings at the first pitch so three of the four swing at the first pitch and Marley Giles playing in the NCAA tournaments and she is hit by a pitch she’s aboard here to start the second inning will there be a dispute on this though because our home plate umpire a replay review center in Pittsburgh so it’s not being reviewed by the umpires here on the field after the call has been changed to hit by pitch Runners awarded first base that’s Alabama’s first challenge video review that we just had sad to say you’re right Dowling out in front of the plate this is enough to get the runner over so Giles down the second lost to the Tigers 3-2 in 14 Innings swung on a Miss Pickins get strikeout number three two down big strikeout right there for Pickins to get the momentum back on Tennessee side after Alabama move that runner 1-1 from Pickins this is back up the middle Rodriguez has to go get it and the throw’s not in time here comes the runner Murphy was waving her non-stop two nothing it’s got a similar Vibe of just putting the ball in play put pressure on the defense make things happen with your speed there goes the runner down the second with the stolen [Applause] base another wild pitch off the back stop to throw down the third is not in time so Valentine at third two and two the count now to Broadfoot kind of leading the cheers and the charge down the third base coach’s box this is a line drive to right and glove by panel to retire the side she’s reading wings and tendencies there’s a Fly ball to the center fielder Kristen whites another aggressive swing by Tennessee Sophia nent little soft tap the second baseman moves back on it hins got it and it’s a one number three overall seed South Eastern Louisiana they had nine runs on 10 hits in the first inning Gibson boots this one and everyone safe again Alabama putting the ball in play putting the pressure on Tennessee Tennessee not handling things very well here on their home field the rally worm makes its first appearance copoulos I don’t know if they got there in time they did good job by Rodriguez hustling over to first base to retire Kahala no Challenge from Alabama runners go on to second and third with one down it’s a really difficult ground ball to execute solid shot Gibson checks the runner throws on the first good play there by Tennessee they needed it Pickins gets the strike out Stomps her feet not once but twice trying to get Tennessee going here down by two heading to the bottom of the third most valuable player this year that’s po up headed to foul ground and in play little bit of a breeze blowing from behind home [Applause] plate Maloy now remember the breeze is blowing back towards the field and it’s going to be a collision between two Alabama players and it drops in harmlessly another 32 to Malloy foul tip into the glove of Giles for the strikeout to retire the side first strike out for Caleb Beaver first strike out for Beaver and it’s a big one against Kiki [Applause] Malloy diing walks and the leadoff batter is aboard for the fourth straight inning Women’s College World Series returning to Oklahoma City the action begins Thursday at noon Eastern Pickins gets the strike out that’s number five Patrick Murphy just waved her around third didn’t break stride she scored on the infield hit and now stealing second is the pinch Runner Kinley Pate take another look at the swing and miss here it’s that follow through that right foot back to Pickins the throw to first in time P was caught between second and third and picking stared right at her but went for the out two down 45 strikes 29 balls in on the hands bloop to Meer at seconds and that will retire the side [Applause] beaver gets her strike out to start the fourth so important to get her out in the first at bat of this inning Beaver starts her out low and inside panel even tries to lay down a sneaky bun and then you continue to see her climb the ladder get that deep foul ball with the rise ball up and inside back to the pitcher Beaver to first it’s a one two three inning for the third consecutive inning for Caleb beaver cahalen swings and misses but it gets away from the catcher and cahalan’s going to beat it out so she’ll be down at first base with two down 75 mil hour down in the dirt nen makes a really good play on this one this one foul tipped into the [Applause] glove she misses for ball four and for the first time today tennessy as the leadoff hitter aboard big swing there goes the runner trying to steals second and safe at second is Riley West Riley West getting a good jump off of first base down to apply it this is sent out to center field glove by the center fielder Kristen White popped up for the second time it’s to the second baseman [Applause] heavin Lee chops it to Second havn bobbled it here comes the runner around and the the play at the plate out of time runner is safe the error by Alabama costly we’ll see if there’ll be a challenge here by Alabama cuz it was very close at the plate for the moment Riley West scores after review the call on the field is upheld sa as I mentioned sixth time they’ve met in the NCAA tournament as you mentioned with West reaching the base with the hand ner with a Fly ball this is carrying this is still going it’s at the wall it is gone Laura maer two-run home run just like that Tennessee is in front in the fifth it just felt different in this inning in the bottom of the fifth inning when Riley West was able to reach base via the walk you could just almost feel this sigh of relief for this offense and they have just exploded Kiki Malloy stands in trying to bun her way on it’s a hard bunt back to the pitcher malloy’s got Elite Speed but good play by Alabama in the video review a she’s out after review the call on the field is upheld we have an out 3-2 pitch to Giles solidly hit to center field Malloy short hops it it’s a leadoff single for Marley Giles she’s aboard for the second time today a circle after a pitch Dowling carries one deep to left this is Off the Wall played by West sliding into third in time childes thrown out the defense there for Tennessee one away you can see just how fired up pton gotel is facee hit up the middle Runner being waved around now stopped late breaks thrown on by bailing Dowling and she Dives back into third base tying run at third against gotel two down and this is what staying in and around the zone does you get the batter thinking you’re going to come straight back to that back door curveball in the fourth against Pickin back Broadfoot Fly ball foul ground room there for Riley West and Tennessee gets out of trouble in the sixth lady alls battling back to take a 3-2 lead as we play here on Super Regional Friday Third Base the great relay by Riley West was huge Gibson caught looking punio for two back up the middle she’s one
