generous Bernie community that pours into the lives of the students lending us support by attending our events cheering us on but also giving monetarily to support School functions and student scholarship ship may we seek to emulate their support and generosity in our future endeavors thank you for our families and friends who have stood by us to celebrate our victories and to encourage us despite our failures no High School experience is perfect each having its ups and downs however I pray that as we look back we would smile remembering all the memories and friendships we made along remarkable senior class of 2024 this evening marks a significant milestone in the lives of our students as they prepare to embark on their journey into the world Beyond The Familiar walls of champion high school graduates take a moment to reflect on your journey think about the friendships you’ve made the challenges that you’ve overcome and the great memories that you’ve created this evening is not just about receiving your diploma it’s about acknowledging the hard work the dedication and the commitment that brought you here today tonight listen to the words of your peers hug your friends hug your teachers and embrace the spirit of we are Champion One Last Time parents on behalf of our teachers our coaches counselors principles bus drivers custodians and every educator who’s guided your children for pre kindergarten to today we extend our sincere gratitude thank you for trusting us and for partnering with us in our br and our mission to bring every student to this day guests friends mentors Community supporters who join us tonight your presence here reflects the many individual Stories the connections and strong bonds present between you and each of our 707 graduates it’s a great day to be a champion charger at this time I would like to invite Eli Kenneth Christian up to the podium to share our opening remarks Eli all right how we doing tonight all right good evening ladies and gentlemen my name is Eli Christian I want to welcome you to the Samuel V Champion High School graduation ceremony to celebrate the class of 2024 I’d like to start this speech by giving thanks to everyone that has helped us along this journey parents grandparents aunts and uncles the year Guardians whoever the person is who made it their priority to get you to school we thank and congratulate you on this accomplishment to the teachers who made it a goal to inspire students to reach their full potential and work to leave a lasting impact on their High School career we can’t thank you enough in my personal experiences teachers like coach coach Gillette Mr Kar Miss Boyers Miss Don Miss grener and Coach AP Clayton you taught me lessons that I will remember and carry on for many years to come and to Mr Vic my welding teacher was more than a welding teacher it was a true it was a true G gift to learn and be a student of yours for the past four years now this graduating class is very special and as we open our ceremony today I want to know I want you to know that you are the most amazing individuals I’ve ever met it is a true honor to be graduating with you as far back as ele Elementary School our grade has always been a tight-knit group in in middle school we expanded adding more friends as the elementary schools came together and in high school we expanded some more but through it all we remained a very connected group has always been support supportive supportive of each other the chemistry of this class is very unique and one that in my opinion will never be topped the smartest people I’ve ever met are in this group right here um we have many that were awarded academic scholarships which is a testament to all the hard work that has been put in to be at the top of the class and to be where you are um a special shout out one of the first the first ever student in BC history to earn an associates degree while still in high school will be getting their high school diploma tonight I want to congratulate all of you on your accomplishments there in addition there are some truly amazing performers who may Dance Theater choir band Orchestra and cheer into award-winning groups we also have had some incredible UI U teams that were competitors at the state and National level and as for sports we rocked everything isn’t that right uh we represented Champion well and all stages football had an amazing season that we all got to share right here on this field track and C country are going to sadly be losing some strong Runners but they made a great uh impact while they’re here at Champion basketball games will never be the same inside of champion inside of the champion gym with many girl and boy star players walking the stage tonight softball was Al was awesome and baseball had a legendary run this year the first district championship in Bernie lacrosse history was made possible by this group here water polo dive and swim all had high showings at the state level and brought home several trophies boys and girls soccers had great seasons and both made it to their playoffs and golf will also be saying goodbye to some truly amazing players as for tennis y’all were always bringing home the medals and for my friend Cooper we were cruising on the water becoming the first in Bernie IST history to be awarded letter jackets for the sport of bass fishing Cooper is also a Trailblazer and the fact that he is going to be the first in District history to sign an athletic scholarship to pursue bass f fishing at the collegate level along with him many are uh headed to places uh like West Point Colorado Boston California New York Washington and Lee Vandy Oklahoma that uh that school in Austin we don’t talk about and Texas A&M on on our campus CTE courses such as aavtc robotics Auto welding and a excelled because of the high level participation from this class and to everyone who was at Champion between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 400 p.m. you made Champion High School a better place and I know we’re leaving it better than we found it and at this time I want to especially recognize and honor the many great men and women who are going to join the armed forces we can’t thank you enough for wanting to Serve and Protect this great nation thank you very much all of this here goes to show how unique this class really is and I’ll tell you what I have hope for this generation although Society sadly tends to focus on the ne the negative things in the world I can assure you what is happening here tonight is overwhelmingly powerful and positive we always hear that the younger generation won’t be ready for the challenges to come but I know that us we will be ready we’re going to be the ones who are the leaders of the future the future of America will be right because of us and we’re going to be and we’ll work to make this nation the best it can possibly be now whatever your future has in store for you I know that it will be special our school’s namesake uh the person who was named after Mr Samuel V Champion he believed in every kid and they that they had the power to make a positive Samuel V Champion High School salutatorian who is graduating with a grade point average of 107.2 two and will be attending Texas A&M majoring in mechanical engineering ladies and gentlemen class of 24 your salutatorian Ava [Applause] Foster ladies and gentlemen faculty parents and fellow graduates my name is Ava Foster and I’m honored to be your class of 2024 salutatorian as I reflect on our journey these past four years I am filled with gratitude for our time together and the experiences that we’ve shared firstly I would like to take a moment to thank the dedicated staff teachers and mentors who have guided us through this transformative period in our lives to coach Gillette and Miss amzo I am incredibly grateful to have had the opportunity to learn from such involved dedicated and inspiring teachers your unwavering commitment to our education and willingness to go above and beyond for your students has made every one of us extremely grateful to have had your support along the way I would also like to thank my amazing friends and family for always being there for me and making my high school experience what it was now I’d like to start with a quote one day you’re 17 and planning for someday and then quietly and without you ever really noticing someday is today and then someday is yesterday and this is your life well guys today is Sunday and tonight marks the beginning of our Lives everyone tells you that four years goes by so fast but you never really understand until you’ve lived it for many of us we had a rougher than usual start to our high school career whether that be wearing masks to school or attending class online just yesterday I remember logging on to my freshman year dance class in my room that being said we should be even more proud of what we’ve accomplished by being here tonight the moment that many of us have been anticipating for the past 4 years has finally arrived as we walk across the stage tonight we will officially become Champion High School alumni although some of us can’t wait to exit these gates for the final time tonight for many of us it is a hard pill to swallow Champion high school has provided so much for each and every one of us and for that I am extremely grateful regardless of your view on these past four years your experience at Champion has shaped who you are today and who you will become whether you’re going into college the military or the workforce it is through your time here at Champion that many of you have learn the skills necessary for success I encourage each of you to focus on the good of your experiences here at champion tonight not only what you have learned academically but also the social and emotional life lessons that you’ve gathered throughout your time here celebrate the relationships that you’ve made along the way the friend you met at the lunch table freshman year the teacher who let you come talk in the mornings during finals or the gate guard who would give you rides to your car in the rain be grateful for the people around you on this last night alt together because many of these relationships have been invaluable in molding you into who you are today it is this version of yourself that you will take out into the World As We step forward into this this next chapter of Our Lives for many of us tonight is a result of dedication hard work and perseverance for even more of us tonight is accumulation of late nights spent finishing note cards early morning Mary’s runs and lunch spent at the library to study by sitting here tonight everyone has accomplished something great however none of it would have been possible without the little winds along the way as we enjoy the ceremony tonight and set forth on our journey into adulthood I would like everyone to remember this quote tiny Victor are like gems scattered on your journey notice them it’s a reminder that amidst the chaos and challenges we must pause to acknowledge and celebrate the small winds along the way as we stand today at the beginning of a new chapter in our lives Let Us carry with us the memory of every small victory we’ve achieved let us remember the joy the satisfaction and the sense of accomplishment that accompanied each Milestone and let us never forget that it’s these seemingly insignificant moments that fuel our passion and Propel us forward each one of us has a unique story of Triumph and success we all have accomplishments to celebrate sitting here tonight be it finally making the team after previously not making the cut getting the part in the theater production earning first chair in Orchestra or being named a leader on your team the list is endless mastering the math class you never thought you’d make it through reaching your goals in your IEP passing your first AP test whatever it was remember that feeling remember all the small winds for without them we would not be who we are today as as we embark on this next phase of our journey I hope we continue to celebrate our accomplishments both big and small and may we always find the courage to acknowledge the gems scattered along our path for they are the true markers of success congratulations again to the graduating class of 2024 and may our futures be filled with purpose fulfillment and continued growth thank you [Applause] ladies and gentlemen I’m now pleased to introduce to you Samuel V Champion High School’s class of 2024 valedictorian our valedictorian is graduating with the grade point average of 107.6 5 she will be attending Texas A&M University and majoring in fenig science class of 24 esteemed guests families please join me in congratulating and welcoming to the podium our valedictorian Samantha Welton good evening everyone my name is Sam Wilton and I’d like to begin by saying congratulations to my fellow graduates for reaching this Milestone I also want to extend a thank you to the parents faculty and all those who have played a role in guiding us to reach this momentous day when I was first presented with the opportunity to speak here today and asked to look back on our time together it seemed like an incredibly daunting task as a few of you in the audience are surely already aware delivering a speech of this magnitude is not a common practice for me and I did not know quite where to begin this is the type of situation that we have all been in before when faced with a challenge outside of our comfort zone we become overwhelmed by our perceived weaknesses and the thought of failure and while doing so we completely Overlook our potential strengths the outcome that we desire is right in our reach we just need a change of perspective to achieve it with this in mind I told myself to stop thinking of this as a speech and instead see it as a story so before we say our final goodbyes I would like to begin by reflecting on the story of us the class of 2024 a long four years ago we were the nervous wide-eyed freshman walking into high school for the very first time with masks on our faces and ambition in our hearts we were all United by a shared sense of possibility overwhelmed by the of new classes teachers and friends we all surely felt a little bit lost yet as the first semester passed we found our Rhythm and our individual passions revealed themselves whether you were diving into your first AP class learning the Walts and the Grapevine in the principles of dance or bounding to the gym on the first day of tryouts it was evident that a foundation was being laid for the journey ahead yet all too quickly sophomore year came around and once again everything changed our parents likely remember this year particularly vividly as many of them were tasked with the dep defying job of teaching us to parallel park but it was all worth it when we were finally able to walk into school for the first time with that shiny new driver’s license in our hands proclaiming our new found Independence and although we never would have admitted it at the time this was also the year the champion high school started to feel like home with every extracurricular we joined and even more so through all of the lives that we touched we truly began to make our presence known then before we knew it a sense of urgency began to sweep through our Gra as we entered into junior year the same question was running through all of our minds what comes next the pressure of cultivating the perfect resum weighed heavily on us and with it came a sudden frenzy of SATs job applications and college research yet even with more on our plates than ever before we all still found plenty of time to dress up as soccer moms and barbecue dads during homecoming week mosh to Love Story win are formal and arrive in style to our very first prom and although none of the DJs ever lived up to the hype it’s safe to say that the memories we made most definitely did finally the long anticipated senior year was Upon Us marked by a promotion to the front of the student section of football games and by the Allure of off-campus lunch we had officially made it to the top yet even with a bad case of senioritis kicking in shout out to the most successful Senior Skip day in school history by the way we all worked hard to end up here the year was filled with lasts the last first day the last performance or game The Last grilled cheese Wednesday it was it was also filled with lessons life moves fast small moments are important and most importantly we learned that despite how much we might try to convince everyone else none of us actually know what we’re doing I do know one thing though I could not have asked for a better group of people to spend my last year of high school with now here we are at the end of our chapter together yet the story of Our Lives has only just begun it will not be easy to venture into the world without these friends standing beside us a world where we will face more adversity than ever before but just is a simple change of perspective turn my reluctance to deliver this formidable speech into the excitement of reliving our Bittersweet tale we will all find ways to adapt as we run into life’s obstacles and if Champion has taught us anything it is how to adapt after all out of the 57 seniors that are sitting here today we took a total of 507 different paths to arrive here no one’s experience was the same and yet we have all reached the same outstanding accomplishment so as we all receive our diplomas let it be a representation of the happy memories we made and of the challenges we overcame but at the same time remember in the words of Natasha bingfield today is where your book begins the rest is still un written thank [Applause] you good evening graduates faculty friends and family my name is Abigail partlo as the student council president it is my pleasure to give the farewell address this evening I am honored to be here before you tonight as We Gather under these lights not just to celebrate the culmination of years of hard work but to acknowledge The Incredible Journey that has brought us here whether it be the long night spent studying or the nights spent cheering on our fellow classmates on this Fair field each and every moment has found a special place in our hearts however I know that we are all here for a bigger purpose tonight than simp reminiscing you the class of 2024 are about to embark on a journey to bigger and better places rest assured the foundation you’ve built here the knowledge you’ve gained the friendships you’ve forged and the lessons you’ve learned will equip you to navigate whatever path you choose as I stand before you I see a class that has not only learned from the textbooks but also from each other from the laughter shared in the hallways and from the support systems that held us up when we needed it the most to the teachers thank you for instilling within us a love for Learning and many life skills that we will carry with us beyond the classroom walls to Mr Kar for equipping us with the tools to navigate life and for the endless supply of Pop-Tarts to Mr Merz for developing an engaging learning environment and filling it full of stories and laughter and to miss Neil for coming back one last year to teach us and for reminding us to hug our parents tight as we enter into this new chapter to the parents thank you for being both our biggest supporters and greatest Inspirations as Miss G would say tonight is also a celebration for you you have spent countless hours pouring into us and we would not be here today without your many sacrifices thank you for believing in us when we made it difficult and for raising us to be the people we are today to the graduates thank you for the Memories these past four years and for allowing me to be a part of your story as student council president whether my phas this one you’ve seen before or this is your first time I want to say that I am beyond proud of each and every one of you and that all the hard work that you have put in these past four years you’ve pushed yourselves and each other to keep going which is truly inspiring because it created a spirit of perseverance the people within Champion are responsible for making it the place it is and it has been a gift to grow up with all of you every person in this graduating class has a story worth sharing and I urge you to do so and do it proudly and to our Administration counselors faculty and staff thank you for providing us with the necessary resources to be successful thank you for creating an environment where academic achievement is recognized and personal growth is celebrated these past four years at Champion would not be possible without both your work behind the scenes and the smiles you have offered now with that being said I won’t Ramble On and steal the spotlight from this momentous occasion as you are now just moments from walking the stage but I do want to offer just a little bit of advice as you enter into this new part of your life set your own goals sure there have been goals you’ve had to achieve along the way your mom might have encouraged you to get good grades your coaches pushed you to excel in sports and the state had its requirements but those were simply Stepping Stones now it’s time to set your own personal goals the ones that set your heart on fire big or small because here’s the thing the person that finished is a marathon first feels the same exhilaration of accomplishment as the person who crosses the Finish Line after walking the last few miles it’s about setting a goal that matters to you a personal challenge that ignites your passion it’s a feeling that no external validation can replicate you don’t need a trophy or a first place medal the satisfaction comes from within and guess what as you run the race known as life there will be people cheering you on it might be your family your friends or even someone you haven’t met yet that’s inspired by your journey but make no mistake the loudest Applause will come from within you’ll have proven to yourself what you’re capable of and that’s a powerful feeling to carry with you as you begin this exciting new phase so whether your goal is to travel the world make a difference in the lives of others or simply find a career you love Chase it [Applause] seated it is now my pleasure to introduce to you Miss Janiah Terry who will deliver our evening’s closing remarks Mrs [Applause] Terry good evening my name is Janiah Terry and it is an honor to be part of this celebration the Sam V Champion graduating class of 2024 today we celebrate not just an end but a beginning it is a day fill with mixed emotions excitement for what lies ahead a touch of sadness for what we leave behind and a sense of accomplishment for all that we’ve achieved Sam view Champion the namesake of our school believed in a power of service and Community his life was dedicated to helping others and leaving a positive impact within Bernie throughout our journey we have not merely attended classes and completed assignments as graduates we’ve had the privilege of being part of a community that hopes these same values that chamel exuded the champion way here at Champion we do support each other we do serve our community and we have have created a legacy that I know Sam will be Champion would be proud of now to our families I want to say thank you to the ones who’ve been there since day one literally they’ve endured our teenage moods cuz we all know we are the most Pleasant of people at 6:45 in the morning and they’ve endured a blind eye to our questionable fashion choices through the visco girl and highlighter boy phases they were there through it all our parents have been our foundation offering their guidance their love and of course their patience our parents have celebrated our successes and lifted us up when we needed it most we owe you all an immeasurable debt of gratitude from the early morning School drop offs to the late night study sessions and to giving in when we beg them to bring us our aush flashcards or AP chm packets we left on the counter at home because we simply cannot face our teachers without them parents you have been our unwavering Champions every step of the way you sacrifices and steady belief in our potential have been the Bedrock upon which our achievements stand and for that we are eternally grateful when we become parents we hope to live up to the standard you have set for us we love you all as I stand here I reminded of a powerful quote by Mother Teresa I alone cannot change the world but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples I love this quote for each and every one of us has the potential to make a difference even if it’s in small ways don’t be a spectator be an active participant in your world in your life in the lives of those around you our world is a vast ocean and each of us has a stone to cast whether it’s through a kind word a helping hand or standing up for what we believe in the ripples we create might seem tiny at first but they have the power to reach far beyond our sight at Champion High School we’ve been casting our Stones we volunteered at our communities through Senior Day of Service supporting each other through tough times and pursued our passions each of these acts no matter how small has created ripples that will continue to spread long after we’ve left these Halls as we step into the next chapter of Our Lives let us remember that our actions matter we all possess the power to affect change not in grandio gestures but in a countless small acts of kindness empathy and courage that Ripple outward the teachers who had gave us a nudge into future careers and the friends who guided us through our Hard Times graduation is again not an end but a beginning it’s a chance for to take what we learn both inside and outside these halls and use it to make our mark on the world so let’s embrace the unknown and be Fearless in our pursuit of what we want to achieve to the class of 2024 let’s embrace the future of courage and determination let’s carry forward the values that we’ve learned let’s never forget the support of our friends family and teachers who have held us and helped us reach where we are today thank you and
