Life very important you get that in there at desertfox [Music] golf.com hello interwebs and welcome to course of life we are proud to be presented by our friends at desert fox go I’m Michael he’s Alex and Alex let’s get down there to Fort Worth and the Charles Schwab challenge at Colonial because it looked like from how things were shaping up let’s Scotty jailbird sheffler was going to do his thing and take the victory away and just kind of make his way up the leaderboard he shots 65 63 Friday Saturday so you’re like oh man he’s Prime he’s going to go low he’s going to take the lead away everyone else is is going to fall away but no no Davis Riley holds firm and takes the w a f stroke victory over Scotty and Keegan Bradley yeah keep poing up on leaderboards at his age nice win for Davis Riley second now it kind of an aster second remember he won the Zurich Classic the team competition with Nick Hardy to keep himself out on tour for as long as you’ve seen him now huge breakthrough there and yeah we were all kind of just thinking the inevitable was going to happen in Scotty sheffler in front of the home Texas crowd it’s quite literally a home game for him being a dallis here resident but we’re all surprised to see that he didn’t have enough juice on Sunday to catch and track down Riley so Riley with the second win on the pj4 yeah C morawa had another good showing he finished at Fourth Place solo fourth he likes that course a lot yeah it’s just we just keep waiting for Colin to win win another major here so he’s yeah he’s been hunting around leaderboards a lot this spring so you can see he’s returning to a lot of that form that he kind of seemingly lost for about a year or two we remember him just showing up real quick on the scene in 2020 and 2021 with his two majors it’s been quiet since so definitely eyes on him in the weeks ahead and I mean we got a we got a tough US Open coming up at pyer so definitely a guy to keep on your radar for here for June the whole week of colonial was unfortunately overshadowed by the death of Grayson Murray early in the week this was really came as a shock Grayson of course had another win at the beginning of the season the story of him overcoming uh a lot of struggles to get to where he was and unfortunately it seems that it just it didn’t it didn’t work out for him and and it’s really been a big shock this week through the tour absolutely yeah and his family released a statement saying and kind of giving us a little bit of context for everything Grayson’s been through uh obviously life was not easy uh for Grayson but he persevered in an amazing way and was loved by by Lots around him and it was very sad to see this happen to to a member of that PGA Tour family uh but but really the reminder for for you and I as friends and podcast hosts and and listeners out there and people that that just love everything that’s great about life and this game here on the course of life is that you know just don’t be afraid to check up on a friend or family member just randomly just CU you can and you love them and you have the opportunity to uh always take those moments in life to do that that’s kind of what we’re all trying to do in this community this is why we love this game why we come together is to be friends and be allies for each other throughout life it’s it’s a crazy world out there Mike so uh just you know go ahead go ahead and check on the ones you love a little bit more in honor of Grayson as well and if you’re feeling really low and and you don’t feel comfortable reaching out to any of your friends there is the suicide and crisis Lifeline at 988 um you call that and they can help you through your situation again that’s 988 it’s the new suicide and crisis Lifeline um but yeah reach out to your friends we love each and every one of you that listen to this podcast that’s why we keep doing it uh so just know that we we love you absolutely and uh we’re here for you to give you a little escape and we’re going to try to keep talking golf here and other stuff and we’ll uh our thoughts and prayers with Grayson Murray and his family um and everyone else on tour let’s uh talk about the senior PJ tour they had the PG Championship the KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship yep and uh it’s kind of surprising if you go to the the Champions Tour website that’s done by the PJ tour uh there there is an article on their homepage that you can see that says uh you know for you know life is perfectly good following a T4 finish at the senior PGA for Jason Karen yep sh clout out to him absolutely no articles about Liv golfer uh Richard Bland taking the win oh who actually won the guy who actually won the major literally no articles on the Champions Tour website about this guy winning or that the tournament even ended he’s getting black balled out here is that what’s going on here I I I think we’re uh we’re washing this one from the books right now is what the champions tour seems to be trying to do yeah it’s an interesting time and for those who haven’t kept up kind of the thing that we’re seeing a lot more of in these tournaments is onesies and two occasions where Live players are getting exemptions in the tournaments they kind of weren’t a year or two ago this being another one of those examples in Richard Bland playing uh in the PGA of America field again this is more so a PGA of America decision and field so they’re they’re at Liberty to bring in whoever they want we saw Liv golfer Thomas Peters playing on the DP World Tour in Belgium this past weekend um so yeah Bland breaking through in a big way we saw him have a big bre breakthrough at age 49 uh in a couple of major moments uh in the last couple years before he went to the Liv tour good to see his name resurface and get a big major Championship win though yeah just you know I’m curious to see how they keep cover this of course Brooks keco won the major last year so he was the first lived guy to actually take the a big prize uh Richard Bland now doing it on the senior circuit so you know yeah good stuff for live if if you’re if you’re live and you’re PJ of America fan you get you get you’re getting your guys at the top of the board which is what they want to see to establish themselves in any way impossible and and that other person that you mentioned on the top of the board which does deserve that second shout out Jason Karen a club pro who by all means probably could play the PJ tour Champions full-time but you know what Mike he just loves his life as a PJ professional so he this is his major every year and he was competing he was within one down the stretch and almost caught Bland so so shout out to Jason kieren for for being another great story from Michigan as well we have another major championship coming up this next weekend it’s that time of year where it seems like every tour has some sort of major championship going on uh it is the US Women’s Open they will be at Lancaster Country Club which last hosted the US Women’s in 2015 okay uh and uh no surprise here Nelly Corda three and a half to one odds going off right now on a Monday rosang coming right behind her at 18 to1 well you know long way off but still said You know what who do we have who who do you think he’s got a better chance here winning Nelly Corda to win her second major this year to set up a you know keep going on the chances of a major sweep that’d be huge man or rosang to win a major here no yeah Rose zang’s winning the US Women’s Open this week Mike haven’t you heard yeah she is uh we she got the course of Life podcast bump obviously after I met her she immediately goes on to win we weeks later we’re head we’re now heading into a major championship which is full of grit and full of toughness why why would she not get it done she’s in great form and maybe she’s the one to Eclipse Nelly in a really big spot that’s my bold prediction this week so what we’re saying is is for those of you that don’t know is that uh golfers that come on this podcast typically start doing well after being on this podcast so what what we’re really trying to say is Nelly now Now’s the Time I don’t I don’t know if you’re doing well enough Nelly Corda you in your last seven starts yeah yeah it’s getting low so yeah I mean it’s something for her to consider if she can’t get it done at l Caster country club we say that snidle to say she’s obviously the resounding favorite and all eyes will be on Nelly this week so excited to see what the the Golf Channel in NBC broadcast brings and I’m excited for US Open Season as well always a different type of brutality and and a great test of golf ahead there is another open going on this week and that’s for the PGA Tour the the RBC Canadian open uh so this you know it’s never seems to get the draw we want in quality of players um yeah which is always kind of yeah which is disappointing because you don’t get we don’t get a lot of tournaments you know up north here uh I here neither of us are up north anymore but we used to be you being the resident Canadian right of course yes yes uh you know they’re all very nice up there in Canada uh so uh we’ll we’ll see what goes on here the being hosted at Hamilton Golf Club in who won it back in 2019 at Hamilton by the way who who won oh je I’m probably going to guess Rory right since he’s the top dog in the field May seven stroke Victory 22 under par wow okay and and Canadian Nick Taylor won the Canadian open last year remember that was a noteworthy moment for Canadian golf as well too so that was awesome to see him break through the way he did so yeah it’s pretty much you know Rory and the rest of the field saw sahit toal up there on the field board saw Shane Lowry so they’ll be some names to look through and I’ll have some picks out Wednesday evening on Twitter at course ofli one for that specifically my favorite part of the Canadian Open Mic which I have to shout out is there’s one of the par 3s where they actually have the T box surrounded by what looks like the boards of of a hockey ice rink so they give the the Canadian ice rink Vibe the fans beat their hands up against the hockey boards anticipation of the t-shot definitely a a very cool uh mix sport Vibe on this week on the PGA tour love it love it uh let’s uh talk a little bit about uh tuned in some things out there on the screens big and small that uh or or even not on screen so we were paying attention to this past week uh finally got out to the movie theater for the first time since seeing Dune 2 okay uh earlier this year and um went with uh went with my wife and we went and saw the Fall Guy with Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt fantastic film yeah you liked it great very very good it was funny it was action-packed and and Ryan Gosling I mean two backto back bangers for Ryan Gosling here I mean this guy I mean first of all really appreciate that we’re putting the two leads the two romantic leads are the same age really appreciate that instead of being a 20year age difference between the two of them uh Ryan Gosling though uh he is so fit yeah so this is all about the life of a stunt man from what I correct yes it’s all about the life of a St man who gets caught up in uh without giving it away uh but to quote the film at the same time some Bas some Jason Bourn has to do some Jason uh so you know mystery Intrigue um coverups uh all that fun stuff it kind of pokes fun at the movie industry does a great job as a love letter to the to the um the stunt community and the amount of stunts in this film were just unbelievable um so really really a a fantastic watch and only two hours how many times can you say there’s a good movie that’s only two hours or less these days not very awesome we have a big beef on this podcast with movie Tim length and runtime so that that’s that’s a solid run time for me right there two hours is good because there came a point where I was like I I feel like I need to go to the bathroom can I make it yeah it’s only like another hour I’m good that’s real right there that’s real I appreciate the authenticity Fall Guy love it okay it’s a winner my wife saw it and said she loved it as well so two for two on the Fall Guy reviews uh my tuned in was live on Twitch this past weekend but I was there in person Mike had a friend of mine here in Austin making his wrestling debut that’s right that’s right good good old Greco Greco Roman wrestling the good old performance pro wrestling that you watched WCW WWE back in the day with all sorts of Comedy hijinks mixed in it was the slam portal wrestling event um in a atin Texas um really basically brought out the inner 11-year-old in me Mike it’s been a long time since I had actually sat sat and watched an extended amount of a wrestling performance uh but there was U soliloquies there was grabbing of the mic there was jumping off of cars into the ring props Galore um there was a barbecue sandwich stuffed from one wrestler’s hand into another wrestler’s face during the match uh so this really had a little bit of everything uh and and I had I posted a great re on my Instagram at course of Life Alex as well too if you want to see all the action for yourself uh you know I I’m not a wrestling fan I’ve never been a wrestling fan and to show how much of a wrestling fan I am not Alex years ago after college and I was working at a Starbucks in a Target and this big guy came up and ordered something I should point out too living in Southern New Hampshire okay uh so that’s where we were okay big guy came up ordered something on you know on an evening when there was like nobody there made it for him gave it to him uh and then this woman came up right after he walked away and was like oh my God does he come here often and I was like like the guy who just left that was Triple H oh no WWE legend yeah I was like oh I I don’t know Hunter Hurst Helmsley oh my goodness wow wait so coffee for Triple H wow yeah I did yeah yeah crazy great wrestling great wrestling tidbit there I love you pulling that one out Hunter Hurst Helmsley himself yeah so check out that real uh slam portal fun times if you’re in Austin Texas uh while you’re checking out things on screens make sure you’re checking out our YouTube channel as well we got uh of course if you listen to last week’s episode you heard all the answers that the world’s best gave to Alex uh and when he was at uh the the the the PGA Championship mic remember that one yeah yes it seems like so long ago it really does um uh and we were just talking about the US Open so that was all I had in my head right now for the women um but uh you can check uh his full video from being at the practice rounds and um see those interviews in person so you can see proof of these players answering them that this was not deep fakes we don’t do that here um you can see shorts and stuff that Alex has posted there of like John Daly rolling by in his golf cart of Tiger Woods and his stride along with other guys strides up to the t- boox uh and you got another one coming out right with Tiger Woods where you just kind of followed him around for a while yeah I mean the the bright and early Thursday morning tea time at a major with Tiger Woods every golf fan knows it maybe some out there have gotten to experience it if you haven’t I’m taking you along for the ride walking with him at Valhalla the first te walk up the introduction the pageantry of seeing Tiger Woods up close and personal at a major championship on our YouTube page just search course of Life podcast on YouTube you know I’m going to ask the question again it’s what one of our uh one person did comment on one of these videos that you made about tiger that you know the tour needs another guy to move the needle he he he doesn’t move the needle he is the needle he is the needle so who else moves the needle well Scotty shuffler uh just be maybe he Scotty needs to embrace his bad boy image of being arrested Y and he can help move the needle maybe that’s what we need Scotty jailbird Sheffer can start moving the needle with this new bad boy image I tweeted it right out as I was walking on Thursday morning there and I said the tiger Thursday morning Gallery is as big as the final round Sunday Gallery will be it is still that insane how many people he brings to wherever he’s teeing off at a golf tournament uh so you’ll get to see it up close personal for yourself without being in the mobs of the crowds on our YouTube page I’m not a fan of big crowds I got to be honest I’m not that’s why I don’t do Stu mob scene at 900 a.m. on a Thursday so if anyone’s wondering like oh is Tiger Wood still popular like do people like the uh yes yes they do the answer is yes and they do so really cool video to come to the page this week yeah all right let’s um get to this week’s guest Alex that’s right yeah I was at the PJ a championship member and you know you you always hear me talking about placing all of these golf bets okay it might be a little bit mysterious to some I’ve started to break down how the odds work to you but it’s a process to learn it all so we’ve got an expert in Keith Stewart um that I’m going to introduce to everyone that I caught up with a valala who is going to help demystify the entire nature of placing bets on PGA War events [Music] all right we’re here with Keith Stewart golf content creator that I’ve seen a lot of on social media he operates read the line and does a a lot of really cool golf journalism work and he’s going to help us talk through strategy surrounding betting specifically on golf tournaments as well we’re here live at Valhalla at the PGA Championship Keith how you doing today oh man uh first day round one of Valhalla I mean all this excitement it’s beautiful out that you know we’ve been talking about rain all week we’re not getting any the sun’s out guns are out big names are on the golf course Tigers playing what what could be better I know this is my first major championship that I’m covering as media for the podcast so this is an awesome occasion and what a great setting is you’re right about Valhalla I want to start just first on that um how about like your favorite memory specifically to valella this is a course that’s hosted multiple PGA championships ver Rider cup um I know you’ve seen a lot in the game but tell me what your favorite valala memory is as pertains to this venue this week all right so from 1998 to 2003 I worked at a golf Club has been on the professional staff called eorth Country Club which is down in windir Florida and uh one of our residents was the 2000 Val Hollow winner uh of the PGA Championship and that is none other than Tiger Woods familiar with him so uh that week when he came back after winning um I got to talk to him about his experience of you know like basically the one moment everyone always thinks about the putt he makes in the first playoff hole where he points as he runs towards the hole but for me the really big putt was the one to get in the playoff where he had about a six-footer yeah above the hole where the pin was back Center on the 18th hole and you know that that to me is the essence of Tiger Woods that’s 142 Cuts in a row that is like all the winning is that you know when when the heat when this when the sun was the hottest you know he had the most sun block on it was ridiculous um so when he came back he said you know ke that that putt meant a great deal to him you know he was like really really focused on that he said I can’t I can’t lose this thing and this came out well and and that putt was super important so to kind of relive that moment with him less you know a couple days after he had won the monm maker Trophy and as a PGA professional was pretty cool I’ve seen you you’ve done content for all sorts of the biggest major media Outlets there are in golf and the sports landcape but give every our audience a little background on yourself as a golf a golfer as well too so I I’m a PJ professional by trade have been for a very long time and then um when Congress back in 2018 May of 2018 changed the laws and allowed the states to determine whether or not they wanted to legalize G sports betting um it was huge it was huge so it took a couple years the co and everything but I always wanted to build a business in and around golf betting I just thought it would be something cool kind of like Top Golf like introduce people to the game in a non stuffy way make it approachable make it fun make it entertaining so the long and the short was it took me a couple years but after Co um I I left the club professional side of things I’m I still maintain my pj membership but I built a company called read the line you go line.com and I’ve partnered with a bunch of different people but I cover golf betting on site as a PGA expert 7 days a week for the LPGA Tour and the PGA Tour yeah you’re all over the place we’ll get into exactly kind of what you do on a week toe basis but let’s explain to our audience that term of read the line so essentially you know we’re referring to the betting lines on who you can pick any given day or any given week to perform or play well or win at a golf tournament but explain the idea of reading the line and how you’re deciphering information based on the line that you’re seeing each week on tour uh that’s a great question basically at first it was a play on words because everyone knew what my background was and they said oh were you starting like a a putting training aid or something like that I said no it has it has absolutely nothing to do with that but it’s nice that people make that connection and it still has to do with golf but read the line it could be for football it could be for anything I I’m just a golf professional and the company currently we’re media company that focuses on golf betting right for the men and the women so the the line is exactly what what you think it is it’s the value of what any bet could be and there’s a favorite and then there’s an underdog for it or there’s a positive and negative number there right so that’s called the money line now a lot of times I don’t know why we do this in America but we always change all the values on everything so like we use feet and inches versus like the metric system that the whole globe uses well it’s kind of the same way in in betting terms everyone over here in the states says like 10:1 5:1 or 1:2 or something like or like you know um 7 whatever it may be you know like Scotty this week went off at 450 so he would be 9 to2 right but like it actually is you know Scotty’s just plus 450 correct and then what does that mean well what you would do is you drop the zeros off the end and then if that becomes the line so if something is plus 450 well when you drop the zero it’s 4 and a half to one or if it’s 50 or it’d be 5,000 you drop the two zeros and it’d be 50 to one so that that’s how you read it essentially like literally read it lot a lot of people see those numbers and they don’t even know what they mean exactly it’s a foreign language tool a lot of people even golf fans as well too oh yeah and and it’s it’s very important to know that if it’s a negative number that that increases the likelihood of something to happen if it’s a positive number then the likelihood of it of it happening is much is much less so if you see a number like Tiger Woods this week to win is plus 425,000 so that means he’s 425 to1 to win which may surprise a lot of people that that odd the odds are that high but when you take into account how little he’s playing it’s current condition the status of everything that’s the way the line is set and and but that’s the way you have to read it so the higher the positive number the less likely it is to happen of course the greater the payday but but the less likely it is to happen and then the lower the negative number and that seems just kind of counterintuitive you know but golf’s that way anyway you know you swing left and the ball slices to the right if you’re right hand a golfer so like you know it’s it it looks like an opposite but that’s just the way it works very cool let’s get into what what our audience sees me do which is I like to just kind of pick about a handful of guys outright to win the tournament every Wednesday I had a RedHot 2023 but I’ve cooled off significantly in 2024 so I’m here for a little bit of advice as we head into the thick of things in 2024 from you my one winner though was Jake nap in the Mexico open outright of all things the one time I’ve hit an outright winner this year um but uh tell me a little bit about um what you like to do leading up to placing your bets each week to help give our audience a little bit of uh inspiration and advice as well sure I think a lot of that goes back to the question you just asked me which is when you read the line you know what does it really mean you know there are a lot of lines that are are set perfectly but um you have to determine where the value is on the betting board right and I always say this I say odds are like sucker pins right so when I determine where the value is I the last thing I look at are the odds right so anyone that goes to bed on golf on a Monday yeah well I’m a golf professional right so when Monday happens and the and the odds were officially dropped for that week’s event right everyone rushes to DraftKings or FanDuel or ESPN bet and they go and they look at and see what the number is so like if I held up my phone and and I showed it to you I said okay here’s the odds for next week at Colonial right I like like David Blain is a magician I guarantee you I could guess probably who you’re going to look at and the books know that right so I feel like those they they change your perception m right they they immediately grab your attention so what I do is that as a golf professional I look at the golf course so I look at the architecture um I look at the Agronomy I look at what the conditions are going to be I look at the weather right and then I look at the history and I and I say to myself okay I now I haven’t looked at one really one number yet I’m looking at leaderboards I’m looking at the way the golf course set up I’m looking at a topographical map if I’ve never been there before if I played there that obviously helps very much but you can’t play everywhere but like you know but those are the things I’m looking at and then because out here on tour all the time I have a inventory you know of guys in my head that I’m like oh okay so this place requires you to be a very good long we’ll use valhall as an example it requires you to be very long off the tee it requires good long iron skill it requires good putting right look those stats that correspond to guys no stats yet no in my head not yet oh okay all right we’re still feeling it out in my head I mean I need to know like as a golf professional I need to know who’s good at what and that’s what I pay attention to when I’m out here right and then I know who’s good at what then the next step is are they in good form so then I’m thinking to myself okay how have they been doing right we’re still not in like The Strokes gain world yet right how have they been doing so when it first starts and I come up with that list of names it’s probably 12 names right for any given event men’s or women I’m like okay like these 12 people seem like really live to win this thing live means like it’s a reality right like it’s they’re hot to win there’s a good likelihood of that okay and then the next thing is it’s like all right then I go and I look at their recent form like again leaderboards and such how have they just been playing I don’t want to know I I really been know like I don’t want to know the ins and outs exactly of how they’ve been playing I just want how have they been playing and that’s going to get that 12 down to like nine or 10 easily eight nine or 10 now I’ve got these eight or nine and now I’m going to go to The Strokes game board right and I’m going to build a model and I’m going to look at that and I’m going to you know punch into the model what I believe is most weighted for the tournament that you know that is coming up so you punch in that and then you look at the data and as you look across the data board certain people are going to pop up to the top of the list now I’ve got that eight or nine down to like six like and now I’ve starting to feel pretty good about these things so then from there I will go to the odds board and now we’re in like this is like you know the fifth spiral of Dante’s Inferno I’ve already gone down to right no this is appreciative because a lot of our audience will just scroll the board and just kicking names you know at a random disposal whereas you’re kind of starting with a large sample size and you’re trying to weed it down to understand who would be the best pick that we yeah and I mean it gets super confusing because um a couple weeks ago I I had read the line we predicted Taylor pend to win in Dallas okay so we had 100 to1 hit all right so he was 100 to1 to start the week at TPC Craig Ranch he wins over Ben Cole’s on the last hole he goes to Quail Hollow the next week and he’s 125 to one to win so the average person that might be listening to this or comes up to me and says Keith could you explain golf batting to me that’s a really tough thing to explain yeah right and and that has to do with strength of field fit of the golf course and that’s what the books and The Operators are all they’re all taking a look at right so an easier analogy is this right the start of this week we have Brooks at 16 to1 or plus 1600 we had Xander at the same number okay so when you start to talk about value of the odds right away you look at that and you go so those two are tied essentially on the odds board yes right I don’t think so Brooks has five major championships and Xander has eight top 10 this year so if your career resume is measured in major championship trophies and you’re at a major championship or it’s measured in top 10 then what are we talking about right so like the value there would be to go with Brooks because he’s done this before all right another example of value a year ago all we did was talk about John ROM he had four wins to start the year and a green jacket correct so all we’ve been talking about is who this year Scotty he’s got four wins and his second green jacket and Rah came into the PJ championship at oill last year at 8 to1 or plus 800 right this year on Monday he opened up at plus 2,000 it was almost three times as much there’s value there John Rob went he never got hurt he changed tours but that was it right he’s still the amazing still in one piece he’s still a top five player in the world so at the end of the day like that’s another example of value right and that’s and that’s how you want to start to analyze those numbers in order to take best advantage of when you do win winning as much money as you can very well put again Keith Stewart here KJ Stewart PGA on Instagram and read the line as well too for that awesome golf betting perspective let’s do some fun questions before we wrap here on the course of life I just got a funny feeling that you probably got a really cool piece of maybe Master’s merch from a trip to Augusta you got anything at all any any any notable Master’s merch from your years you’ve covered a lot of PJ tour events a lot of major Champions um whether it’s there or another tournament what’s your favorite golf merch you got uh so if you ever watch any of my videos behind me there there is a uh there are four Flags okay yes all right all right so there are four Flags back there um over as I’m facing the camera over my right shoulder is uh the 2000 uh Us open at Pebble Beach and then over my left shoulder is St Andrews okay um and then um down bottom right is Valhalla 2000 I’m seeing a theme and then the down bottom left is Masters 2001 it’s the tiger slam and they’re all signed by Tiger so I have the four flags from the venues of that so it’s not just Masters memorabilia but I do have a masters 2001 flag signed by Tiger but I have the other three that accompany it and um that one’s going with me or it’s going with my kids when I’m gone that’s a fantastic background too I’m going have to pay closer attention to that as well too uh Keith you’ve been around to a lot of different club houses on tour or seing a lot of clubhouses from your playing days as a golf for yourself what’s your favorite Clubhouse you’ve seen in golf it’s a very loaded question we’ll get to the food and drink after this but just the actual clubh structure itself I got to see Saw Grass the new Saw Grass for the first time and I was blown away by that that was really neat um but what what’s your favorite just top of your head um boy I tell you that oh that’s a great question all right first thing off top of my head is I’m going to say the clubhouse at Pine Valley because if I see it because if I see it that means I’m there and then I’m playing so that makes me happy nice yes well put very strategic answer as well too um and we always finish with our 19th whole question for our guest so you get into your the clubhouse the clubhouse of Pine Valley will say what’s your go-to order your favorite meal and drink you like to have in the 19th Hole after a round of the course oh man after a round at the course well it let’s just assume it’s the first time I’m there right so I’m looking at the menu I love to judge a good burger right because if somebody could do like a fundamental food well they’re going to do all the food well but like if you just roll in and you’re like hey I want to check out the cob salad or something eccentric like and then you get burned on that like no no good you remember that too right still well yeah but you know but at the end of the day I’m gonna say that uh I love a good like after round you walk 18 holes um a good cheeseburger and fries nothing better nice what what’s the drink to go with it oh DCL uh it’s code word for delicious SC light oh I mean on a hot day right you come in and you order that burger but then while you’re waiting for it then you know I turn to the you know the bartender or the server and I go I go I love a DCL they said what’s a DCL I said it’s delicious Coors Light I me when you accompany anything with the word delicious I mean it just rings in your soul you know it’s just like oh then you can picture the bottle with the Blue Mountains and like the cascading condensation oh I mean I mean when the mountains are blue what else is there to do that’s right all right it’s Burgers beer and Bets with Keith Stewart Keith thank you so much for hopping on the course of life and all right we’re back great chat there with Keith big big thanks to him for breaking this down for those of us including myself even though we talk golf betting all the time here on the podcast about how to make the bets of what to look for and proving more than anything Alex you are woefully underperforming and unprepared every single week yeah I I mean the underperformance is just so more randomly relative but what is a direct fact is that I am not doing as much research as Keith J is doing when he puts his picks out on read the line um so shout out those pointers as well too definitely implementing a few of that in my one Monday to Wednesday handicapping for golf events moving forward again check out readed the line he does some really awesome content and he’s giving you picks every single day on there uh I’ll be giving them to you every Wednesday but appreciate Keith being part of the show you can see Alex’s pick on his threads course of Life Alex also on his ex formerly known as Twitter course of life one uh the podcast is on threads and Instagram Co podcast we’re on YouTube like we’ve said a little while ago as well all those different apps you use uh we got a website that we’re still kind of tweaking and putting out there but you are welcome to go check it out if you want it is course oflife podcast.com nice got new stuff going up there’re tweaking it making it work let us let us know what you think of it um and uh we’ll we’ll we’ll make it better we’re here for you we’re here to serve you and all we ask for on return is for you to punch that subscribe button that’s right leave us five stars and a rating and if you leave us a really awesome rating we’re going to put it on the website we’re going to let everybody see when they go to the website love that imagine if you listen this far in the podcast and you didn’t do your five seconds and just helping us grow the show imagine you know how yeah it’s it’s like look this is all we want we just want to feel uh we just want to feel nice and and we do this because we feel nice and we want you to know that we feel nice and we just want a little little little validation maybe uh hey let’s talk uh basketball because uh Alex how how you feeling about maybe driving up to Dallas to watch the NBA Finals yeah like that’s actually a thing I cannot believe that the NBA playoff bracket broke this way everything in the world has fell the way by the way of the Boston Celtics uh star players of our Eastern Conference opponents have gone down when we needed them to teams in the west like the nuggets and warriors that have previously been scary to us were eliminated quickly and it’s just it’s setting up for a Celtics Mavericks final and Mike for a little story line there’s we’ve got the Kyrie Irving Revenge story line here Kyrie Irving is now with Luca drix on the Mavs coming back to play his former team in the Celtics we had a very rough breakup with Kyrie Irving after his era in Boston ended so it sounds like I’m my way up there for hopefully at least one game in the DFW and and we’re trying to get Banner number 18 I can’t believe I’m saying it we’re there uh when you if you go up there do you think you can um get a chat with Mark cubin for the podcast yeah right that’s a great idea actually I mean I’ll have my phone out if he walks by I’ll I’ll ask for a quick comment or or just maybe a stock tip or something like that I don’t know what’s the best piece of information you get from Mark Mark cubin in five seconds right uh I’m sure he’ll mention a shark tank product that we should be investing he will right he’ll be pedaling one of his companies that he invested in for sure uh so I hope to run into him and many more Angry hungry Mavs fans and hopefully kill their dreams because listen it has been a long time for Boston sports fans Mike years if not decades since we’ve really won anything so what we really it we really are due for another championship so why not another Celtics Championship why not speaking of things that have been around for a long time like the Boston C the Pack 12 has been around for what over a hundred years I think it is and they are officially dunzo end of era Arizona walked off to win the baseball title in the Pack 12 over USC and so endeth the one one of the like original Three or one of the longest standing conferences right it was Pack 12 the Big East and there’s another one in there that I never heard of that had been around for a really long time p remember the pack 10 before it was the Pack 12 too so uh the and and the way the Pack 12 ended I mean just this this disintegration of this conference has just been incredible over the last two years right yeah it’s weird the way it’s all been gun with the way a re realignment is going to reshape college sports but lots of memories of that West Coast Conference you know you and I growing up on the East Coast the idea of watching something from the pack 10 or Pack 12 was always so fascinating because it wouldn’t come on till like 10 or 11 o’clock at night on the East Coast so it was always kind of this world that you like could see but never really understood they had an amazing run in their final year I mean they got Washington to the championship in football they had a lot of success in basketball and this amazing finish to their tournament in baseball so sad to see it Go definitely the end of an era in college sports with the with the passing of the pack just you know it’s it’s a Brave New World It’s A Brave New World all right let’s uh hasht always end with food yep our 19th whole content to wrap up the course of Life at always end with food if you want to check out food content there specifically on Instagram and Mike I was searching for a great burger I didn’t want to grill it myself cuz I knew I was going to get a grilled Burger eventually this weekend and I did but I wanted one that was really highly rated in Austin so I went to a place that I’d heard of that has a funky name but a banger of a burger I went to Jew Boy Burgers in East I love it already I love it already are they kosher they better be kosher and and here’s the the the pie to resistance Mike I got there’s several different amazing burgers Creations but what’s that amazingly famous Hanukkah related potato pancake snack called the the lka what if you put a perfectly fried lotka right inside a burger and let me tell you what an amazing move by Jew Boy Burgers this was one of the better Burgers I’ve had here in my 14 years in Austin highly recommend that uh and excited to try everything else in the rest of the menu so an impressive burger with the lka in the middle from Jew boy I’d rather see the lka take the place of the bun oh oh a little potato bun okay yeah I should ask them if they can do that I bet I bet they can whip that up right why not all right maybe we have a a secret menu an a menu ad item for them there you go all right coming coming soon to course of Life the Locka burger from J boy uh and you know what you know what I bet happens there at Drew Boy Burgers Alex I don’t know if you’ve done this at all in your kitchen is they probably burn themselves a lot yes oh the burns man what oh you you have a little trouble with Burns recently I you know well I I work in a professional Bakery you know I I I am a professional Artisan Baker I think is what you technically call me uh and so I have burned myself not as much as I used to because I don’t do the bake anymore so I’m not dealing with the really hot bread oven which I would burn myself on at least once a week um but I was pulling uh some of our delicious Brio out of the oven on Friday and needed to move some of the some of the the loaves onto a different rack big commercial bakeries you got these giant racks and you push you just push the whole rack into the oven yeah door floor you know door goes all the way to the floor uh so pulled the rack out and I had to move the bread to a different rack to free up this rack that could only go on the other and the Brios is in a pan of uh what we call a strap pan it’s four pan strap wrapped together and then that sits on a sheet pan because it doesn’t fit on the rack by itself so it has to go on a sheet pan onto the rack and I’m moving it and I I pull it out of the rack and I’m moving it to the new rack and the the strap pan shifts and the weight on the pan moves and so the whole sheet pan lands on my left forearm oh at against the arm yeah 32 Dees and and I did not drop anything but uh it hurt like a mother yeah it did it’s one thing to have the glancing blow but you had the rest on Burn I’ve got so this mark on my on my forearm is about the length of my thumb and uh it’s the width uh at its narrowest it’s just a little not quite as wide as my uh my fingernail my thumb and at its widest point it’s wider it’s longer than the finger nail on my thumb wow so that’s a banger yeah Jesus it’s it it’s it hurt you know but you know clean up a little bit put some burn cream on it the fact that it hurt like hell was a good thing because that means you didn’t damage the nerves in it and uh you know just put some moisturizer on it I’ve been putting aloe vera on it every every few hours or so keeping it nice and moist now we’re just waiting for it to peel so you just said if a burn hurts like hell it’s a good thing it’s a good thing if you burn yourself so bad that you don’t feel anything you need to get to a hospital interesting because that means you did some serious damage to yourself today I learned wow okay all right best of luck with the burn heel thank you for everyone to tuning in always end with food in this week’s course of Life we’ll see you next week
