Angela Herman joins me and all of you join us as well and thanks for being here in a beautiful Sunday at the park we’ve got eight races three of them on the turf races three four and five we call that an All Turf pick three don’t we we do call that a Turf pick three and it only has one scratch among it I thought there might be some uh rain this weekend thought there might be more rain I guess than we got but it’s been not affecting the turf course we have fast and firm conditions to start us off on the day and like you said three four and five all on the turf and some of the prices we’ve seen on the turf this year make you want to take a second look at all three of them it’s been bombs away now this is only our third day of live racing it might be your first day here at the park new program that’s right fits right in your back pocket could not be more convenient there’s some information in here there might be information that you’re looking for that’s not in here but what you can do is see this QR code on the cover you can scan that with your smartphone majority of modern day Americans own and operate a smartphone so that’s simple it’ll take you to the statistics and all sorts of other information Pros picks that you provide online along with Kevin Jay litsa from the Star Tribune all sorts of useful information when you do look at it you’ll find out that the leading Jackie right now is Lis Fuentes four for 13 Angela is Lise Fuentes he wasn’t here last year but he rode two years ago 150 races the guy knows how to get around the racetrack 62% in the money as well for our tap Jackie yes and it’s worth noting any early trends that you do see in the meet like we were looking at yesterday Oakland Park shippers things like that because they don’t always go off as the favorite Luis quentes has not always gone off as the favorite I have him going on a couple of winners today and just keep an eye on some of those I mean things will change a lot during this season because we have so many different entities coming from different racetracks around the country New Riders Riders who have been here for years it’s always an interesting melting pot because it’s not on a circuit it’s not the same names so we see how they all fit together and obviously he is having an excellent first couple of days absolutely now if you can’t be here every day and I know some of you can’t well Jo the betting Club to get daily action anch it’s $100 to get into the betting club and that will take you through basically the entire summer you’ll get Wagers that Kevin gorg puts together and whatever pool he has to start with from the betting club that will be the bank rle and try to build that up as much as you can focusing mostly on Canterbury races but probably integrating in some different big events from around the country you know you have the Travers you have big stakes races and Kevin does take a look at a lot of different tracks and a lot of different races you have to get in by June 6th if you do want to get into the betting Club Club remember it goes all the way from June 8th till August 31st it’s $100 and all you need is an MVP card and if you don’t have an MVP card it’s very simple to sign up you just need your ID you go to either the track level info Booth or the club level info Booth they’ll get you the card if you have the hundred bucks they can get you into the betting Club bang bang boom you just pile the cash up at the end of the summer and hopefully Kevin has some winners along the way to bank roll you maybe even into the next session maybe into the fall there’s different uh different roads that the betting Club could take in the future but it starts on the 8th and right registration ends on the sixth that’s right just stop by either one of the information centers on third level or on track level and get signed up now you might be asking you asking yourself why why the Jim Beam on a Sunday not day drinking no we’re here to talk about the taste of Canterbury that takes place next Saturday night right here at the park during the live race card which starts at 5:00 it’s Taste of Canterbury it’s whiskey hence the Jim Beam and wings these are really cool events a chance to sample some of canterbury’s culinary excellence and the event does sell out you can get tickets at Canterbury park.com events so I’d get your tickets in advance so it’s a really fun way to spend an evening at the track bring a date drink some whiskey eat some wings cash some tickets it they do sell out very quickly they are fun events and they’re a variety of events even if one isn’t for you take a look on the website at all of the different possibilities that you have to take a taste of canterberry they take a lot of time to put those menus together and complimentary cocktails to go with them it is a fun way to upgrade your experience if you were going to be here anyway definitely take a look but if there’s something on the menu further down the line get your tickets today to be clear I’m not ruling out day drinking however but that’s not the purpose of this Oracle may have taken part in that sometime today yesterday you never know I don’t know find them and uh you’ll know pretty quick the pick five 10% takeout lowest in the nation we have two of them cleverly named the first five and the final five you can figure that out 10% takeout on both of those pick fives they start in races one and race four today 10% takeout 50 c minimum pick five winners in a row bam you could have thousands back in your pocket we’ve seen a couple of big payouts the first couple of nights and again looking at the early part of it there’s Turf races in both and they are not easy we mentioned the bombs that have come in in some of those Turf races the dirt races are no exception either we’ve seen some prices especially on the front end and they’re both involved in these pick fives it is the best takeout in the country big day here at the park a lot of you here for racing a lot of you are here for the Bulldog races as well always a popular day we’ve got a special guest don’t we an yes we do we have a very special guest who is joining us for the Bulldog races today and is we’re kind his owners are kind enough to join us I want to mention quickly you see behind us the Q code you can find that in your program there’s signs all around the building if you want to see your Bulldog up here you can scan that code and get your bulldog in the mix now if we can have Kota come over here going to have to pick that dog up yeah if you guys want to come right back behind me Kota Dirk mson and Jennifer mson this is Kota Kota is going to be in Heat number one today he’s going to be dog number six and we want to ask you quickly when you bring a dog to the races and you’re going to race him in Heat number one what do you do to get Kota ready for Bulldog racing at Canterbury it’s really just you know a lot of running uh Kota loves to run she plays fetch which is abnormal for a bulldog and you know uh we’ve actually been here a few times but this is her first time racing so it’ll be something new and fun and hopefully she’ll go straight but she may just spend more time chasing the other dogs around there you go you got the inside track on Kota she is going to be in Heat number one we’re g to have four Heats today after races three and six and now it’s time to take it down to the paddock for today at the RAC is brought to you by touchdown tile e e e e cream and uh some strawberries and stuff like that that sounds awfully good just like a hitting pick fives today a canterberry that sounds quite juicy too and welcome to touchdown tiles today at the races I’m your announcer Paul Allen Kevin gorg is one of our analysts the other is Angela Herman you just heard from her and we make up the steam team on a day we race the Bulldogs we race the horses and uh hopefully you race right to the bank when you’re done because you’ll need to automatically deposit some money because you’ve won so much that could be you you’re going to need that money too if you’re betting those Timberwolves tonight after the first two games uh but maybe that’ll flip the script too uh but uh the reason I bring that up is we have this little pick five wager that begins in race number one we have another one that begins with race four it’s only 50 cents and if you it’s a sequence if you pick the winners of five consecutive races using as many or as few in each of the races as you want who knows you might win 15 grand like somebody last night a couple of people last night or five grand a we eight days ago opening day we had a pick five pay five grand and another pay like 14 or 15 grand so there’s gold in them our Hills and good and good afternoon good afternoon and I know you didn’t play the early pick five and when you work here and you’re here for every race day you you’re not going to play every single sequence but I got to give you some pretty serious props if you look at that early pick five that paid over $155,000 there were two key focal points to that pick five and this guy Paul Allen had both in race one there was a significant favorite for ma Robertson went off for the low odds you had chocolate freckles somebody else on top at 5 to1 your horse went wire to wire and then the real code breaker in that pick five was a Turf race we had the 10 horse on top at 12 to1 and paid 27 bucks so you had two of the five winners on top that thing pays over 15 grand so very good handicapping on your end and hopefully we can find more of those prices here today couple of things to share off that uh that in in the world of bequette etiquette within gambling you see etiquette within betting bequette Kevin and I with a side wager on today’s card that’s uh that that’s exactly the best way to handle somebody who was super hot yesterday to say that they’re basically indefatigable UNF flappable and incapable of picking losers so now I feel like I got some winners today but just beware okay Beware of the whammy that just was laid on yours truly and secondly um my 21-year-old daughter my beloved Coley is in from um Colorado where she goes to college so my my daughter spending three hours two and a half hours in the announcers Booth yesterday cost me about $4,000 that’s okay because with those long shots I picked and everything didn’t bet one to win uh hit a pick three but that was okay and you know so long story longer uh family over five as I learned last night let’s give some winners today all right uh race number one scratch number three a fleet Divine if you came here to bet show uh a don’t ever bet show and B you can’t do it in race number one uh trifect is also eliminated with the scratch of number three a fleet Divine Uh Kevin and I both have number four carbonel it is 42 and five for me yeah four horse field you know you don’t know what to do with the pace these horses coming in from all different parts and I just thought the four had enough natural speed had a good foundation from some racing in Nebraska and a jockey that I’m learning to really like this Rodriguez Guy new to canabury looks like he’s going to be solid All Summer Long here in Shaka I don’t I don’t have a lot to say about this race if you’re going to play the pick five you may just want to hit the all button and hope for a price because really nobody stands out on paper to me so I go 41 and two with zero conviction just hoping to survive and advance and move on in the pick five all right now now that begins the first pick five 10 10% takeout out takeout is is how the track profits and that’s how we run a business but we you know tracks can choose to put a takeout number on any wager when play show pick five trifect the whole thing we have chosen to have our pick five takeout 10% that’s a nation low and and and there are many reasons going into it but it is absolutely wholeheartedly the best wager to play a Canterbury Park even if you’re picking numbers names of horses colors of horses uh and just pumping 50 cents into it with one horse in each race play the pick five because it benefits you not only with the bottom line but it’s betting a little to make a lot first race would you uh are you singling are you going to like do an all what are you going to do I’m taking two horses and it’s a again it’s a move I I had to make knowing I’m going to go against some really good handicappers Angel’s on the two and I’m I’m going to take a stand against the two I’m going to use the one and the four and hope that I don’t have to double the size of my ticket if I use four horses my ticket would endend up costing close to $100 I don’t want to spend that much on a pick five ticket I like to keep it around 50 and so that’s why I’m only using two of the four horses and I don’t love it it’s one of those races I just want to hopefully get through because I think the middle portion of this pick five early is really really good I’m not going to waste all my bullets in a race with four horses uh all of us uh the steam team is um as Jeff mday the leader of cby track Flack calls us uh the steam team we’re all on number four hidden profit in race number two uh this Absolut absolutely is going to be a wind wager for me if I can get two to one or higher I see a 21 and three opening quarter granted on the turf uh but I see somebody just to lengthen a piece off that uh now granted that was last year but I believe uh this three-year-old is gifted with early speed we have the uh uh Jay litza 2 to3 uh angle from an age standpoint maturity and stuff like that so I’m on number four hidden profit 476 yeah it’s a maiden race where again these are Maiden claimers they’ve never won a race I think we’ve got got the speed of the speed and hidden profit I don’t think that morning Line’s going to hold up I’m with you two to one seems about right I don’t think it’s a slam dunk though I really don’t I think the Seven Horse uh is is a super interesting option if this horse gets ignored Shad the seven for Miguel anhel Silva who you talked about yesterday and hit in that Turf race at 12 to1 is intriguing and then if they overb the four and let the six drift up we know what Tampa shippers can do we know how good Tim Padilla has been at Canterbury the last couple years so I go four s six and five I like the four but I think it’s one of those horses where if they’re clear and they’re loose on the front it’s going to be really fun if they’re in a battle early we could be in some trouble uh race number three to the turf three consecutive Turf races listen to this closely please you’ll see at top your programs $1 All Turf pick three uh so pick the winners of three consecutive Turf races three four and five and you hit the pick three all right yesterday’s Pick Three I think paid about 190 to1 so you’re betting a dollar came back at like 190 uh so keep that in mind these Turf races can be unpredictable the horse uh Kevin’s talking about that I picked yesterday called bet your aets uh was in a Turf race I believe yeah that was a Turf race and went off 15 to1 so The Outsiders happen more frequently on the turf than they do on the dirt I like number six chaparita Kevin likes number four Finley’s kitten yeah I think the scratch of the three here is really important dust maker had speed dust maker looked like she might have been the horse to beat her scratching really opens things up in two areas from a handicapping perspective now I don’t know who the favorite’s going to be but the front end looks open and even though I think the two might be the best horse on paper pasta salad Ronda pasta salad Ronda starts way back and tries to make one big late run and in a race where there’s not a ton of speed and the turf course has been pretty kind to horses on the front I’m going to move over to the four I think Finley’s kitten is going to get a really really good trip she projects to be on or near the lead she’s in good form she lost by a neck against similar in Arizona last time so I’ll put the four on top I respect the two and the horse I don’t think you want to leave off your tickets on the on the pick five is the five horse who Angela likes with her boots on who I think has proven that she likes this Turf course she doesn’t love it but she’s hit the board in six of nine so I go four two and five yep and um and the one you mentioned the five 0 for n Lifetime on the canterburry turf the reason I bring that up is the horse I select is 0 for four Lifetime on the Canterbury Turf and never has finished in the top three on the turf now the reason I take I take this Philly is because I do believe she will be close to the PACE Eduardo gardo I mentioned this yesterday is a 22% Turf jockey all right so last year on the turf um Eddie G won 22% of his races that’s a very very good number and I believe he won a Turf race yesterday so Turf riding is a lot different than dirt riding and it requires a different level of patience and just a different level of feel and I believe Eduardo gardo very young in his career too and he he’s very talented um I think him riding on the turf is something that he gets uh more so than than um than potentially some others so I’m going to try chaparita here in what I think is kind of a wide openen race with that scratch of number three I end up going 62 and four 62 and four in race three the fourth race keeps on the turf course 7 and a half furlongs for maidens a maiden means they have yet to win they’re looking for their first Victory uh we have Minnesota breads here nice purse too of $33,000 and um uh number eight blazing performer is making her debut trainer Joel burnt for the samsons they won a race yesterday it was the last race of the day with Constantino Roman also a very good Turf Rider Morning Line favorite number five factor that and that’s who Kevin and I take yeah she’s going to be a handful Gulf Stream Park shipper with speed for a trainer we love and Joel burnt and a jockey you just talked about in Eduardo Gallardo if those figures are correct and she’s on her game today they’re all running for second I’m going to make it that simple for you that’s the big if because the turf course at Golf Stream Park is probably a little different than the turf course we’ve got here in Shaka but I’ll say this she just has bigger figs and a pace Edge over this field now if you’re looking for some prices to mix into your Trifecta maybe you want to key that five on top do not sleep on the two Northern angel I think Northern Angel has big time upside one career start on the dirt here at Canterbury last year the Minnesota bread ran second now comes back with a steady panel of drills the turf Bloodlines are there and she’s 10 to one she’s super sneaky as is the eight a firsttime starter for Joel burn I’ll go 58 and two in a race where I think it’s all about the five but if it isn’t look out cuz there could be some huge paydays 528 for me I’m only using two in my pick the five and the two I I might need to consider the eight I mean Joel’s just won with so many first-time starters and he’s put mile Works into this Philly so it’s it’s key he believes that she’s of the two- turn variety and that’s what she gets today but as the pick five goes if you if you if you beat number five factor that and your pick five ticket is alive to the fifth race I mean you’re that that’s where you turn 48 into 5 G uh because the majority of tickets will have number five factor that single just using one horse and you know what she may win uh but that’s why I’m using two just in case uh two and five for me but 528 top three onto the fifth race final part of that Turf pick three and the first pick five and over on the beautiful Turf course again here Big Field no scratches no Rider changes and the 5 to2 Morning Line favorite number nine what’s your objective trainer Larry relli wins at a very very high percentage and he has one here who I thought was going to scratch but didn’t scratch so here we are I like the nine yeah this race to me PA is super interesting because at 7 and a half furlongs on our grass it’s a very quick run into that first turn and the two most fancied horses in this race are clearly going to be the nine and the 10 and they are going to be in a very difficult position into that first turn so you have to ask yourself when handicapping are you going to roll the dice that they can overcome that outside post or you going to try to beat them I think the nine might be special I’m a huge Larry relli fan I think the 10’s the danger if you want to go a different direction if you believe the the post position May cost both the nine and the 10 four five and seven are the other horses that you have to consider and I think it starts with number five found Jordan now we haven’t seen the horse in September but we know this race horce he loves the Canterbury Park Turf he fires every time he gets gardo for Virginia Peters that caught my eye as did the last workout at 47 and change and by by the way one of your favorite handicapping angles with the new equipment the blinkers going on do not sleep on the five I’ve got the nine on top I think the post positions are clearly going to be a bit of an issue I think you’re going to want some depth in your pick five when you get to that final leg agreed and um in that final leg I’m using 2589 I picked the race 982 so I picked number nine on top number eight morning Thunder uh this one intrigues me uh because I respect the connections with Mike beer lav got a Turf win yesterday and this one in a N9 horse field when he debuted last summer granted as a 2-year-old went off at 4 to one and I recall got a lot of action and um and and the this one was training well last year I just remember somebody telling me that so I’m not going to forget that and uh we have a nice workout pattern up to this race and a nice fast half mile drill into it so I’m I’m using the eight in my pick five but I’m picking the nine first uh race number six that begins the pick three on the final three live races today no scratches no Rider changes the steam team uh we um we’ve run a Miss with this one when it comes to trying to figure it out together I like number eight out runam Kevin likes number one Ember Angela’s on number four Ricky Bobby I pick at 867 why do you like that one well I like the one for a couple of reasons I love Tampa shippers early in the season at Canterbury they always seem to fire when they come up from uh Florida I’ve got a great jockey in Luis Fuentes who I trust and I’ve got Matt Williams conditioning who I think is is a a very under the radar Rock Solid conditioner so all that added together a horse in good form last raced in late April a workout over the track and the advantageous inside post and by the way a square 4 to one I like Ember a lot one of my win bets today will be Ember um as far as Horses underneath I’m using the seven who looks like maybe he’s low speed that’s ill Capitano with the Silva who’s also such a good pilot seven gets loose that’s going to be a problem for me so I 175 and N but I am bullish on my one uh I’m taking a stab with number eight here I think the race is wide open and also number six Loren Park I I’m not you know I don’t know what I’m going to do up to the race with the final pick four Loren Park loves it here and Loren park there there are reasons that I can argue Loren Park should be in the top two or three likewise for Ricky Bobby and Ember also El Capitano I ended up without run them uh because Kevin pointed out something to me yesterday about horses shipping here from Hot Springs Arkansas okon Park and just how abundantly well they’ve done well this is one of them uh this horse is Racing for a third time a a long layoff and in the first race back ran early in the race in competitive fashion fell apart last time after a bad break uh out run them is three of 10 at the distance uh four for 16 top two at canterberry and quite honestly I think the horse is going to get way lost in the wagering and you’re going to get Elite value with a really good Rider in a wide openen race on number eight out run them so keep that in mind 867 seventh race Begins the penultimate uh that begins the final double two McKuen is the only firsttime starter in here I pick that one/ third I go with number six uh 86 Chevy kg’s on the one right next to that Floridian Army kid yeah the six is the horse to beat Tampa shipper good debut likely has enough speed to make the trip six is a must use for me on all my tickets I’m I’m going to take a swing here with army kid and here’s what I see a horse that debuted at Keelan in $150,000 Maiden claiming race split the field right didn’t do much running finished fifth beat in 14 lengths that was in October now we get firsttime lasic now the 2-year-old is all grown up we’re a three-year-old now we get good workouts for a good trainer and Cody Rosine and again Eduardo gardo shows up in the saddle that matters to me I think the horse will show significant Improvement in terms of of early speed and I think we’re going to get value I think we’re going to get 5 six 7 to one so I’ll take a shot no doubt the six is the horse to beat and again the one to me if you’re building a trifecta I don’t know how you leave the one out I go 7 six and one yeah I’m um I’m trying number 6 86 Chevy here now granted this one was 3 to one when he debuted at Tampa Bay Downs okay um he didn’t win and he ran but he ran second he got dusted by a horse named rookie uh but the final time was 109 and four so it comes out of a very fast race and he also is blessed with early speed where he was right there on a 22 and change on a 46 so then he works up to the race yeah I mean we’re we’re looking at 8 to five here probably don’t know if I’m going to single the guy in my final pick five but uh that’s who I like 615 eighth race final live uh no scratches no Rider changes in this one uh the morning line favorite written by Eddie G is yo dog a popular horse at Canterbury last spring summer and also kg selection yeah Joel burnt a horse that’s run three times here at Canterbury PA never worse than second we got the prep race out of the way in Chicago this is a Minnesota bread who runs all summer for the juicy part of the purse and it’s Eduardo gardo I’ve got Eduardo on a pretty big day today don’t let me down man don’t let me down Eduardo um hey and it’s Bulldog day and it’s yo dog and I love sitting in the Press Box listening to you call this horse when I pick him or bet him and you say yo dog I just love it I just love it so I’m going to go with the four over the one and the eight and I’m going to hope that Joel burned Eduardo gardo have a big Sunday afternoon uh we um we’ve had a profitable Common Thread through the first 16 races of Canterbury and it involves trainer Miguel anel Silva and the thumbs up gang so uh why not finish the uh the third series of eight races with Cinco Majestic here from lonar where the uh the Lone Star Racing is good I mean it’s um you know like I don’t follow Lone Star Sam Houston or I don’t follow it that closely but when you look into it and and you you get deeply into like the claimers and allowance types as they they have bigger fields and some really good horses down there so I’m going to take that uh the fact that this one comes out of uh some uh some rich races some deep races that is a second and a third and now we try 10 claimers here looking for win number two uh that sounds good enough to eat specifically at 3 to one so I take number eight first uh Cino Majestic it’s 843 go to Canterbury park.com to learn about our racing schedule uh we will be back with you next Saturday at 5:00 p.m. then the week after that we begin our our Thursday swing uh I believe it’s June 6th is our first Thursday Canterbury park.com for information on that and a Night Ranger and 38 special and hairball and some other bands playing out here this summer we’re really uh happy to see you again thank you very much for spending Family Day with us and for everybody in the television department and the dark our Press Box along with our management team he’s Kevin gorg and I’m Paul Allen welcome to Family Day at the races e e e e e e e e e e s la and the horses are coming on the track for Pepsi Family Day right out here at the park main track is fast Turf course is firm in race one we scratch the three of Fleet Divine with that scratch four horse field means no Trifecta or no show wagering in the lid lifter we do offer win in place exactas a double a pick three and don’t forget about the first five it’s the early pick five a pick five here in the opening couple weeks that’s paid over 14,000 and over 15,000 on two separate occasions the pick five starts in 6 minutes I’ll have a ticket for you which we’ll go over shortly all right Canterbury faithful get settled in it’s going to be a great day of racing Bulldogs after the third and after the sixth but let’s make some money along the way let’s try that early pick five the first five starts right here four horse field I’m going to use half of the field on my ticket my ticket’s a $36 Venture I’m going to use the one and the four I’m bullish on the four I think the four sits up well in this race small field with some natural speed look good in the paddock warming up so I’ll use one and four here in race number one hope to survive and Advance race two my top pick is the four we’re not going to get 9 to2 but I’m going to have some backups I’m going to use four six and seven in race two I think the seven might be the value when they actually leave the gate race three I’m all about the three top contenders on paper the two pasta salad Rhonda the four Finley kitten my top pick and the five wither boots on one of those three should win I feel pretty confident in race three I’m going to single the five in race four factor that looks like lone speed in from Golf Stream Park she’s sharp right now she’s trained by Jill burnt and she gets my guy Eduardo gardo that’s my Le then I want to have options I think race five is wide open I mentioned the top two conders are of outside post positions so I’m going to use five s 9 and 10 to close out that pick five 1 and four with 467 with 245 with five with 5 S N and 10 $36 investment play that pick five opening weekend it paid over $14,000 last night it paid over $155,000 you can’t win it if you don’t get in it and it all starts in 3 minutes e e e e ladies and gentlemen we thank some of our sponsors today they include Apple Autos Continental Diamond Jim Beam Kim Crawford our starter is Oscar kidos and we are set for a Sunday and there racing and they popped as one carbonel gets the first call and su’s darling revs up at two and half to one gets down to the inside and take care of after race three with a couple of Heats and then after Race Six the dogs out here have been so great summer after summer it’s one of our biggest draws and today is no exception we’ve got some food trucks here in the paddock area you’ve got some great restaurant opportunities throughout the track on all levels you can find food be respectful of your patrons it’s going to be a little time to put the patience hat on and if you want to save time when it comes to making your horse bets here’s a great way to do it it’s the first BET app download that onto your device now make sure you get the first BET app in there days like today it can really save you because you can deposit and withdraw money and make bets where you’re on the property right on your phone you never have to get in that line it’s super cool it’s the first BET app and today is the type of day you want to try and put that on your smartphone and save yourself a ton of stress if you want to learn how to do it stop by any of the information desks here on Main level or up on clubhous level it’s the first BET app the preferred app of all of us Sharpies in the Press Box race two is a main race so these are horses that have never won a race looking for their first career Victory and it looks like a very difficult handicapping puzzle let’s start with number one David’s faith sabalos gets the call here for Valerie lond in from Arizona has been facing tougher competition so as Jeff mday likes to say it’s the ship and dip ship to Canterbury dip in class should be rolling late and from that inside post likely saves a bunch of ground number two is making his second career start it’s Legacy in the making with the Silva riding here for Georgie Smith one career start he was in Nebraska against Maiden special weight which is a significant ific L higher level of racing we just didn’t learn much that day this horse was always towards the back of the field with the drop in class can improve and up on the board at 9 to one number three is lucky Supernova Carmona gets the call here for Ed Edgar espanosa in from glitzy Oakland Park horses in from Arkansas at Oakland Park have done very well here the last couple of Seasons another horse with no real form good looking gray in The Paddock there’s an Old Saint at the racetrack cloudy day bet the gray maybe you’re into that and that’s a very lovely horse as they come out at 6 to1 right now my top pick in the race will be the four I think speed matters in a maiden race I’m going to try hidden profit here as jockey Lis Fuentes looks to sweep the double good looking horse down here I like the coat I like the energy I like the muscle on this horse we have one career start it was here in Shaka it was way back last August but that was back when this horse was a two-year-old now we’re three years old the workouts are steady the horse looks really good physically in The Paddock with that early speed I think the horse can jump to the front and take them all the way number five is professional grade Rodriguez gets the call for Joey Roberts this horse has a seasoning Edge on the competition eight career starts some competitive speed figures too look for this horse to be stalking from just off the pace with lots of race experience if he gets his race and his trip today at 8 to1 I think he’s one to include in your tries and superfectas The People’s Choice is the six horseshoe py Alonzo konz for Timmy Padilla and these connections always fire at Canterbury but specifically in the early stages of the meat they got off to a fast start last year they’re off to another good start this year Tampa shippers at Canterbury fire and they fire for size doesn’t have a natural speed that was my only cause for pause I think the six is the horse to beat but the lack of early speed and not a lot of speed in the race led me to pick in the four but I would not be surprised if the six is right there when they turn for home seven to me might be the value up on the board and I love the way this horse is behaving in The Paddock on the muscle to say the least this is Chad Bas gets the call for Miguel anhel Silva I love the way Miguel anill Silva trains he brings those horses to Canterbury and they are ready to fire and fire at prices last night they won it 12 to1 love the way the seven looks in The Paddock must use for me in exact as tried and super factors on the board at a very nice price too 5 to One race two six furlongs maidens they’ll be at the gate in around eight and then they’re going to get it on e e get [Music] a e e e e e ladies and gentlemen directing your attention to the big screen in the infield or TV monitors uh this week’s Culver’s kid and in fact each and every family day this summer uh we are requesting that you utilize the QR code uh that you will find to send in pictures of your children and we thank you very much for sending in the pictures some beautiful ones have come cycling in and we will be number three is on the big screen in the infield and TV monitors congratulations little buddy once again parents make sure to check your emails to see if your child is one of this week’s Culver’s canterberry kids e e e e they’re at the gate and it is now post time at the gate race time race number two of eight Pepsi family day at at cby the first Bulldog racing takes place following race number three as they move in line hey out of here there looking horseshoe paty has gone in Sharma three and half to one hidden profit 8 to five in favor here’s chud AAS wean hell Silva and there racing in the second family day at Canterbury Park Lake make that lucky Supernova won the start but it now been seeded by hidden profit and hidden profit splits Runners and gamely takes the lead shud to the outside of professional grade they’re chasing the favored hidden profit and that Trio is now six lengths clear from the White Horse lucky Supernova joined by horseshoe py advancing to smidge to the outside after that David’s faith and David is losing faith in number one going back to last overtaken by Legacy in the making they’re well strung out seven of them covered by 14 with a quarter of a mile to go hidden profit and Fuente is trying to sweep the double hidden profit at 8 to five grinds away with the lead charma continues to apply pressure to the outside still in with a puncher chance outside of that is professional grade hidden profit scoots clear by three puts the race in the books it’s hidden profit finding all the profit in race number two and Lis Fuentes has won the first two today tight photo coming up for second and third as the White Horse lucky Supernova became interested late e e e the numbers for 375 now winner in the winners enclosure it is hidden profit back-to-back victories for jockey Lis for wies the winning owners Arie Williams and py thorough Brads and the winning trainer Matt Williams final time 11 12.32 the second is official the Exacta paid $49.90 with the favorite on top 10cent superfecta $57 and change that’s top four finishers in a given race and the BET begins at a dime 4375 5773 the fente swept double paid $20.40 $20.40 for that double onward to race number three we have backto backto back Turf races and a $1 All Turf pick three to celebrate it the turf course is listed as firm and the rail is 20 ft out scratch number three dust maker in race number three dust maker out of race number three and there racing in the second family day at Canterbury Park Lake make that lucky Supernova won the start but it now been seeded by hidden profit and hidden profit splits Runners and gamely takes the lead shud to the outside of professional grade they’re chasing the favored hidden profit and that Trio is now six lengths clear from the white horse lucky Supernova joined by horseshoe py advancing to smidge to the outside after that David’s faith and David is losing faith in number one going back to last overtaken by Legacy in the making they’re well strung out seven of them covered by 14 with a quarter of a mile to go hidden profit and fente is trying to sweep the double hidden profit at 8 to5 grinds away with the lead Sharma continues to apply pressure to the outside still in with a puncher chance outside of that is professional grade hidden profit scoots clear by three puts the race in the books it’s hidden profit finding all the profit in race number two and Luis ventes has won the first two today tight photo coming up for second and third as the White Horse lucky Supernova became interested late e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e haven’t seen her in a little while but we see Off the Bench and into the winner circle in race number two the third will go over to the turf but remember after that the Bulldogs will take to the track we’ll have a couple of Heats after this upcoming third race this is at the on the turf at 7 and a half fur Longs one of our only scratches of the day comes in here please take out the three dust maker that was going that was a Philly that was going to take a lot of money in here so in looking at the board right now you have an even money favorite right in the middle in Finley’s kitten but we’ll start with the Rail Runner mizen millions mizen millions hasn’t run on the turf since March of 2023 didn’t go very well that day but this Philly has speed this may has only started once since the end of January it was pretty good Sprint but probably better tuned to going two turns just needs to find that Turf form again only 0 for two over the surface you can be forgiving as they were against a little different company and earlier on in her career but miss Millions I thought might take a little bit of pressure to her outside as there are a couple in here from the Silva bar and one of them stretching out off Sprints and I thought that might keep the pace honest enough that’ll be good news for pasta salad Ronda the two in here likes to come from pretty far off the pace she made a wide slingshot kind of move to win two back on Tampa’s Turf that was at the end of January made one more start since that time and pasta salad Ronda has been on the Shelf herself since that time she makes one good steady late run in her most effective races it just didn’t look like there’d be an overabundance of pace in here to set things up for pasta salad Rhonda she can probably lay a little bit closer if they go slower but still I think that she would just want a touch more in front of her than she is going to see today Finley’s kitten is has a bit more speed to her as she showed out at Golden Gate she nearly took a field wire to wire in January but since that time hasn’t shown the same sort of speed down in Arizona Finley’s kitten comes off a close second place finish to Lemon Drop lady not sure what she beaten that day but it was in this relative level of competition and she is currently even money favorite to try to get win number three in start number 20 with her boots on is one of the two that I mentioned from the Miguel Silva barn and with her boots on has a lot more experience over the turf and chaparita especially lately she had one start down in Houston that was a fourth place finish and that was against tougher foes than she’ll in here she is 0 for 10 thus far on the turf but man as she been knocking on the door she is a versatile sort of Philly and baras will be aboard her today with her boots on right now is a very fair six to1 on the board even bigger price on her stablemate chaparita just to the outside who’s been unseen since March but she was last seen on the turf that was sprinting against allowance foes maybe she’s bit off a little bit more than she could chew that day chaparita gets a stretch out in distance she has speed she might be able to set a fairly leisurely pace for chaparita up front and gard’s in the Sou 11 to1 for that sort of combination is pretty darn good and on the outside two to L all 8 to1 in her first start for the Ric Barn she had a solid try two starts ago She chased a slow pace stayed close to it and finished up very well to be second couldn’t duplicate that effort fell further off the pace last time at Tampa but still will probably be a fair mutual and it’s at the board and three out of her last four starts no matter what they throw at her seven furong six and a half a mile whatever she handles it very well and again staying closer to the PACE probably will help this one and you get 7 to1 good prices on all of the three to the outside of Finley’s kitten who is your six to five favorite with 8 minutes to post you got doubles super effectus tries exact as win place show Wagers and remember the next three are on the turf that pick three is looking mighty appealing and it’s coming up in 8 minutes get your spot out on the rail the Bulldogs are coming up after the third on the grass e e [Music] than e e e e e e what it’s power play time and it’s sponsored by Tri State Bobcat we thank our good friends there at Tri State Bobcat race seven we got a little price today off a nice win yesterday with birdie begon let’s take a look at army kid one thing you’re going to start with here is this horse debuted at Keenan in $150,000 Maiden claiming race and yeah it ran fifth yes it was beaten 14 lengths but this Colt fetched $90,000 at that keyan sale back in 2022 so we think he has some talent that was back in October now we’re three-year-old so we’ve got some steady growth physically let’s take a look at a couple more handicapping angles this horse was a June fall officially not yet three yet so again upside firsttime lasic love the bullet workout in Chicago and then for Cody Rosine a trainer I trust 20% wins with a maiden second time out and by the way Eduardo Gallardo sees fit to ride right here that’s always a good thing he’s a great Gate jockey I think you’re going to see much more speed from army kid now he’s in tough It’s a 6 to1 morning line but the power play today we’re going to light the lamp and we’re going to pay some serious cash we were favored last night with that win now we’re going to ramp It Up Race seven number seven don’t leave them off your tickets e e e e and the horses are approaching the Starting Gate ladies and gentlemen Canterbury Park and anheiser Bush are excited to join forces with folds of Honor supporting families of America’s fallen and disabled veterans and First Responders you can join us in this noble cause by participating in our special promotion for every 16 ooun can of Budweiser beer purchased here at Canterbury a dollar is donated to the folds of Honor Foundation also commemorative $5 pins are available for purchase on site and the runners have reached the gate it is now post time into the gate for the Third on family day about 10 minutes after this race the running of the Bulldogs and they’re moving in here comes too y’all making their Turf debut too y’all goes in and there racing put a queue around that start it was perfect and chaparita flashes speed so does mizen Millions to the inside finle kitten purrs along right behind them and as they go around the first turn on the firm Turf course the pace is dottling it’s quite slow and mizen millions at 11 to1 is doing it all her own way right behind her about a length and a half making a length out of it with her boots on check that chaparita in second after that talo y’ advancing to the outside of Finley’s kitten there’s with their boots on eight from the front second last and pasta salad Ronda the three to five favorite is last but only eight lengths from the front and the front belongs to mizen Millions still pulling them along mizen Millions joined to the outside by chaparita likewise for talo y’all talo y’all on the three wide side just a half length from the lead behind them is Finley kitten after that with her boots on beginning to run on and salad Rhonda is last and would have to win it from 10 out of it and they’re coming home now mizen Millions chaparita 7 to one outside of that finle kitten far outside talu ya’ with her boots on behind them and pasta salad Rhonda coming on very very fast on the outside chaparita chaparita at 7 to1 pulls the upset second pasta salad w e e e e e track wordss were looking at the first turn in an incident that involved the two and the five does not involve the horse that’s moving into the winner circle right now the soon to be official winner of this race the six chaparita track referees looking at the first turn and some bumping between the two and the five the winner free and clear from any incident there on this review and now the stewards have ruled there will be no changing in the order of finish no change 6245 upset here in race number three chaparita gets the money at 7 to1 she’s a four-year-old Philly by Malibu Moon out of musical loot fold in Kentucky Silvera racing is the owner the winning conditioner is Miguel anhel Silva and the winning pilot Ed wardo Gallardo congratulations to the winning connections of chaparita Bulldogs are next and there racing put a queue around that start it was perfect and chaparita flashes speed so does mizen Millions to the inside finle kitten purrs along right behind them and as they go around the first turn on the firm Turf course the pace is dottling it’s quite slow and mizen millions at 11 to1 is doing it all her own way right behind her about a length and a half making a length out of it with her boots on check that chaparita in second after that taloo y’all advancing to the outside of Finley’s kitten theirs with her boots on eight from the front second last and pasta salad Ronda the three to five favorite is last but only eight lengths from the front and the front belongs to mizen million still pulling them along mizen Millions joined to the outside by chaparita likewise for talo y’all talo y’all on the three wide side just a half length from the lead behind them is finle kitten after that with her boots on beginning to run on and pasta salad Rhonda is last and would have to win it from 10 out of it and they’re coming home now mizen Millions chaparita 7 to one outside of that Finley kitten far outside talu ya’ with her boots on behind them and pasta salad Rhonda coming on very very fast on the outside chaparita chaparita at 7 to1 p the upset second pasta salad Ronda e e e ladies and gentlemen he here come the [Applause] doggies e Bulldogs we will have four Bulldog races two right now and then two after race number seven the number two we have a couple more Heats following race number seven and the Bulldogs come back here through the winter Circle ladies and gentlemen so if you’re looking to get some photo opportunities they’ll be here in the winter Circle uh Andor Meandering through the crowd here’s a replay tiny Pete see you Labor Day weekend Don VTO Corleone see you Labor Day weekend oo got a little tight there for third didn’t it what I and uh that would be V uh V checked in third V checked in third all left in the wake of a keen turn of K9 speed displayed by tiny pee hey canterberry race number four is in 20 minutes how about a round of applause for these owners bringing out these Bulldogs to make this Sunday second and N Round of Applause please this uh is a fabulous fabulous day and it wouldn’t be that way without all of you joining us after the post parade for race number four we have a steer roping display so gather around the Winter Circle for that eat drink and be canterberry and thank you for coming to the races e e e e e e e e e e as you make your way back from the first round of bulldog races remember the final five is starting in this upcoming fourth race and it starts with a very heavy favorite so we are going to single factor that she should be well south of what she’s currently at by the time all is said and done but she brings in a very impressive set of races from Gulf Stream Park and her Pace should put her in the winter Circle as well as her Rider who was looking for a second Turf win in a row on race number five I’ll go a few deeper in there what with Carill the thrill on the inside who has some speed but my top pick is the older Jack in action on the outside he’s five a lot of his competition is three and a very Speedy first timer from the relli camp is between those two 14 and8 for me in race number six Ember on the inside Ricky Bobby and outrun them all exit races at oaklan Park that would make them good fits in here they bring some different styles too kind of all angles covered but most of them will be or at least a couple of them will be coming from a little further off what should be a solid Pace in race number seven I went with six and eight in here 86 Chevy in my KY kid both have some experience and speed to them and they both Drew to the outside that’s been a winning formula thus far in the first couple of days of our meet and I think that those two hopefully will get us to the last leg of this pick five 1 seven and eight inside and outside but all of them have sh shown some sort of speed that’s Cino Majestic laws of man and Al kazaba 1 s and eight that rounds out a $27 ticket remember the fourth will take off in a little more than 14 minutes and we’ll go to Kevin gorg shortly to take you through the upcoming fourth race the kickoff leg of the final five e e back in the paddock for the start of the final five pick five here with a very good-look Turf Maiden race for Minnesota bre girls don’t forget about the Canterbury Park betting Club this is a fantastic opportunity to be a part of a group and see that cash flow improve as the summer goes on we’re going to start in early June you can head to Canterbury park.com or the info centers to find out more all you’ve got to do is put the money in and then watch the experts go to work for you we’re going to put bets together each and every live racing day the Canterbury Park betting Club so much fun one direct deposit early in the season and then we just watch and see how that money can grow right now it’s race four as I mentioned it’s the late pick five it’s a maiden race on the turf it looks like a really fun puzzle to try to solve let’s take a look at the combatants yes there’s going to be a heavy favorite in from golf stream but you know you can make a win bet on a horse that’s four to five or even money and try to double up or you can try to key that horse in an xacta Trifecta superfecta put that one on top and then use some long shots underneath I do fancy the five here I think she’s in a good spot but I think there’s some long shots to consider if you’re going to try to put together some exotic Wagers number one is Grace alce sabalos gets the call here for my guy Troy Bethy she’s had some success here at Canterbury on this Turf course and post position matters in a race like this it’s two turns on the grass at 7 and half furong so that inside post should be good for Grace Ace she’s got some natural speed I can see her being a part of the trifecta or superfecta at Double Digit odds the horse I’m going to use in my exotic Wagers at the price that I like the most is the two Northern Angel this is Cody Rosine this is Lise Fuentes I love the way Louise Fuentes is riding right now she looks great down here in the IC and I saw Talent here last year she ran One race it was her debut at 4 and a half furlongs on the dirt but the the breeding says this horse is going to be a better race horse on the grass she’s got that pretty white face She’s Fit she’s got some good workouts I think the two is super interesting and I love the way she looks down here in the paddock at 6 to1 number three is dropped cold Kelsey har gets the call for Canterbury Park Hall of Fame trainer Burnell rone now if you’re betting this horse you’re going back a couple of starts and she hasn’t raced since last summer but that start to back in August against open company on this Turf course was a good one she ran third at 50 to1 odds so she’s already proven she can outrun the tote board and today she’s 17 to1 the longest shot on the board four is cloudless blue Alonzo konz for Tim Padilla good connections this is her first start as a three-year-old so there’s some upside there and a good price number five is the horse I fancy that’s factor that giardo gets the call for Joel burnt she’s in from glitzy Golf Stream Park she has speed she has talent and she’s raced against some hard knockers the question mark though is this she is 0 for nine so this is her 10th career try we’re getting very close to that spot where you got to wonder if she’s going to get over the hump I think today’s the day good looking gray cloudy day enough said even money we’ll see if we can find some value around her six is mighty Maddie on her toes down here in the paddock looking good Mighty matd is going to go out early as you can see the stewards have allowed her permission to skip the post parade with the other horses she’ll go out early and warm up she’s been there and done that 15 tries Tampa shipper Turf Lyn rck good long shot connections and a square price I’ll use the six in my tries and supers as well seven is honey crisp Lis Valen wher for Mikey beer Turf numbers are decent and uh she’s bred to be a really nice Runner and I think there’s some upside here too she showed some Talent last year but clear this is a horse that’s going to get better with age her daddy was super saver he was good enough to win the Kentucky Derby so the distance won’t bother her and the outside horse is a super intriguing firsttime starter her name is blazing performer for the samsons Constantino Roman Joel burnt great Bloodlines The Sire Oscar performance all about sending horses out that run big on grass love the Bloodlines think the horse has some Intrigue and you can see the price up on the board at a juicy $6 to one who do you like Minnesota bread maidens someone’s going to run into the history books and get their very first career win and you’re going to be a part of it right now to start the pick five don’t forget resurgent Northern Angel resurgent k back and prevailed game game effort by Northern Angel how about Northern angel on the turf on the lead gets passed by the the hot favorite and then comes back and wins that’s as game as game gets and now as we get an update we’re under 40 tickets left I think 36 the number I heard 36 pick five tickets available when you get a one to five shot beat and Paul Allen talked about this in our pre-race show today at the races you get a one to five beat now this pick five could pay anything there were an awful lot of tickets single to that five and the five run a great race but showed speed couldn’t get by the two and then the two after getting passed by that five shows all kinds of heart congratulations and Luis Fuentes by the way man is this guy riding well keep an eye on Luis Fuentes he’s been here before guys’s Got Talent in the saddle but that really showed me something there in race four back to the turf we go for race five another Maiden race and again when you’re betting maidens these are horses that have never won in fact the horse I’m going to tell us never even ran a race so strange things can happen here you could find your way to some big prices on that tote forward let’s handicap together we’ll start with number one incredible Victor Kelsey har gets the racing assignment here for burnel roome couple of starts last year on the dirt and you know you look at that and say well the horse didn’t do much but the Bloodlines are there for the turf so maybe this is where this horse belongs and we’ll see if the horse can improve now switching from the dirt to the turf number two is commissioner Oscar got our wish the uh the folks from Lynn Stables good luck some dear friends of mine and they’ve got a talented racehorse here the sire commissioner one of the better sers in North American Racing you’ve got Joel burnt training one of the greatest trainers in the history of this Racetrack and oh by the way Luis Fuentes the guy that just won for the third time today is in the saddle now I don’t know about the turf this horse ran in the dirt last year and ran decently they claimed this horse at Keeneland for $330,000 so clearly there’s a plan here down the road I think this horse has some serious upside I just don’t know if it’s going to be dirt or turf the turf blood lines to me are a little bit muddied I see the dirt Bloodlines and I see a horse that could be a nice one down the road and maybe today’s the day with the hot jock three is supreme leader Bas gets the call for Miguel anhel Silva we’ve seen this trainer pop at Big prices time and time again at Canterbury this horse uh comes in from Remington Park hasn’t raced since last fall so it’s a new three-year-old he’s got some speed he gets first time lasic and he shows a sharp workout so there are some real positives there at a big price at 10 to1 number four for all you Minnesota Wild fans out there Here Comes Kill The Thrill The Thrill trained by Mack Robertson owned by my friends at extreme racing and Carmona gets the assignment now his lone Turf race last year was a good one he’s now a three-year-old that was back when he was just a baby and a 2-year-old the workouts are there has some early speed that could be important folks in a 10 horse field to have a little early lick could be very important and you’re getting 8 to one if you’re going to build a trifecta or superfecta do not sleep on the five I think found Jordan is going to get a slice of this and maybe if everything goes the right way maybe found Jordan could get all the money here’s what I know about this horse number one he’s a great price at 9 to1 you get the blinkers on for the first time you can see in the paddock those bright green splashes around his eyes that’s the blinkers that help him focus on his racing assignment and this guy’s run some big races on our Canterbury Turf course he likes to sit off the pace and charge down the stretch you get gardo in the saddle and I think at nine to one if you’re playing trifectas in supers he deserves an awful long look six is burn boss Sophia barend Dela gets the call for Caitlyn Bedford one start this season it was opening night it was on the dirt so you can kind of draw a line through that the turf starts have been okay we certainly need to improve but you get a good long shot pilot in the saddle seven is Lettin Force Alonzo konz for Mr David vanwinkle in from Tampa we keep talking about those Tampa shippers they’re pesky they’re dangerous and I think the seven can hit the board here at a big number at 13 to1 eight is morning Thunder Lis Valen wha for Mikey beer one career start and Paul Allen made a really good point this horse took money in his debut was bet down to four to one ran decently has a touch of speed and looks really good in the paddock look at the E horse in the padic good physical impression good healthy looking coat good muscle some dappling on the hind quarters so I think the eight off the way this horse looks in The Paddock deserves inclusion in the tries and superfectas I mentioned I was going to tout a horse that’s never run before I’m going to try the nine here and the nine horses what’s your objective Constantino ran for Larry relli remember Larry relli last year with two Phils the horse that I touted and we all bet in the Kentucky Derby Larry relli one of the best trainers in the country period I saw that the justifi Bloodlines his daddy was a triple crown winner so he’s bred to be a good thing he’s going to debut with blinkers I love the workouts love the connections I do not like the post position at post n but I think the horse has some talent and on the outside number 10 is Jackson action sabalos gets the call for Mr Joel burnt do not like the post but I do think the horse has some skills we’ll see if the horse can work out a trip with sabalos out there goodlooking horse out here in the walking ring it’s a maiden race somebody’s looking for that first win it’s Turf racing at Canterbury and you need to head to chips bar and restaurant inside our Casino Asian food Italian food and Great American food this morning I sampled the steak and eggs best steak and eggs in town TR chips bar right now we Tred Turf it’s race five it’s coming up and it’s coming at you and it’s next e [Music] n and the call to the post brings the runners onto the track these maidens are heading to a firm Turf course to close the first pick five l two of the second pick five good luck no scratches no Rider changes we at canterburry thank some of our sponsors they include trate Bobcat Choice electric at iic data and Culver in Shaka e e e [Music] we’re before the 5th but remember we got more Bulldogs coming later so in the spirit of Family Day the angle today is centered around those Bulldogs in heats 3 and four now remember you can’t make any bets at the windows this is not a pair of mutual wagering event but if you are side betting and you should be with whoever you’re here with today remember in three and four today you may need to take an L to get the W what I mean by that look in heats three and four your options Libby Lily Larry Lola Terry or just Lola or Leo you got six to pick from if you want to take the L to try to get the W but remember they’re going to be out after race number six and if you want look in your program go a little bit further back in the day you can scan that QR code you can find the signs all around the building get your Bulldogs up on that tote board before the end of the day enjoy the last couple of Heats after the sixth enjoy the fifth coming up in one minute e e e e it is now post time I didn’t think so J back what’s your objective second last and Jackson action 3 to One Last The Winner Circle e e e e e e e e e e e e e e e welcome back to the paddock we get set for race number six don’t forget the Bulldogs directly after this contest what’s your objective one look was all it took Constantino Roman an aggressive move around that far turn 9 to2 on a Larry relli horse okay we’ll take that don’t forget on Saturdays we do backside tours where the horses live back in the barns it’s a super cool experience for race fans you can get to know the people that take such great care of our equin athletes there’ll be great conversations about how these horses prepare for their racing Endeavors the backstory on the breeding backside tours only canbury on Saturdays head to our website canabury park.com six races you can look at the betting board right now and you can see it is a wide open betting race really a fun one to handicap I settle in on the one horse so the first horse we’re going to talk about is my top pick in the race and I thought the horse would be a fair price we’re getting 5 to one the jockey Lis fente is having a really good day so far with three winners and I just like what I saw from this horse down at Tampa Bay Downs doesn’t uh be you know he’s not a horse that’s limited to one style he can range up and stalk the pace he can lay back and make one big move from the inside I thought he’d save every inch of ground which is always beneficial in a route race so I’ll take a swing on Ember with the hot jock at 5 to one number two is Husker but Alonzo konz from my good friend Bruce ran Brucey having a great year comes in from Arkansas redot the horse is in from oaklan as well and the stretch out makes sense to me because this is a horse in those shorter races that looked like he wanted more distance was not showing much speed was finishing the race in good order so the stretch out a crafty veteran trainer like Brucey knows get the horse a little extra ground and you’re getting 14 to one number three is rur Luis Valen wha for ly Ric Tampa shipper has a touch of natural speed and this is one of the old handicapp angles we talk about where you go route down to a Sprint and then back to a route so this might be go time on red assur four horse is Ricky Bobby and Ricky Bobby gets Eduardo Gallardo in the saddle for Cody Rosine in from oaklan Park had a disastrous trip from a wide post last time I like that this horse has been claimed the last two times out so the people that know the game and know horse flesh think this horse is doing well right now pay attention Ricky Bobby getting bet down to two to one up on the board five is last Martini chip bully the conditioner Rodriguez the pilot in good form off a win in a couple of thirds should be rolling in the late stages I think it’s 6 to1 a real nice candidate for your tries and super effectiv sixh horse is a Minnesota bread Loring Park for Karen Offerman Troy Bethy trains Carmona rides great Turf figures you know Paul Allen talked about this horse really good numbers on the grass this might be a prep for uh down the road on the turf but the horse sure looks good in the paddock seven might be lone speed and if you handicap the horses like like we do up in the Press Box we’re always in search of low speed because if you can get the lead and dictate terms you’re going to be hard to beat I think that’s exactly where the seven ends up IL katano with the crafty D Silva for Jose Silva on the front end and at four to one to me is the horse to beat number eight out run him Constantino Roman for Edgar Espinosa Paul Allen’s been picking long shots all week and had a seven to one earlier on the card PA likes the eight here of course he does it’s a Minnesota bird against open and Pa is a homer of course he’s on this horse and he’s red hot right now number nine is just plain ornery sabalos gets the call for rushon ther shipper outside speed and yes I think the seven gets the lead but I think the nine gets a really fair trip I think seven to one’s a little too big a price as well on that nine horse I’m going to mix that horse into my exactus tries and supers who do you like it’s Race Six it’s one mile on the main track with the Bulldogs waiting and they’re going to be out there right after this race so get a good spot by the cashier horse bet and we’ll have some fun with them Bulldogs Race Six coming up and coming at you next [Music] than the [Music] the race six field is now on track with 6 minutes to post no scratches or Rider changes in the upcoming sixth race it’s the the final pick three opportunity that you have of the day to go along with doubles exactus trifectas and 10cent superfectas remember after race number six two more Heats of Bulldogs your current two to one favorite in the sixth race is number four Ricky Bobby e e e e e e e e e e e it is now post time race time for the sixth family day at Canterbury Park move it in welcome Shelly o Conor coland and her family Shelly recently was inducted into the broomball Hall of Fame Hof and welcome Lauren Park moving him next will be redur get your head any fur you too tall two back we got monkey monkey rer off El Capitano in Sans Rider who undoubtedly will join eventually now out run him 12 to1 and just plain hre nine in the line and they racing and like a shot ill Capitano at 9 to5 immediately sees his command and as they head around the turn for the first time IL Capitano racing off the rail leads it by two and it may be an never widening two just plain arry is next racing to the outside of out runam two and a half lengths behind that is redur who has been overtaken by luring Park and that motan on the Move luring Park about seven lengths behind ill Capitano who still is so alone in front then we come back to redur a half length clear from Ricky Bobby three and a half behind that to Husker Butch then it’s a big big back to the last two last martini and Ember can see them all about 17 lengths behind ill capano and El Capitano trying to sail wire to wire race six Sunday cby the lead is seven lengths off the far turn out run them is so alone in second after that is just playing hry then we come to Ricky Bobby beginning to close in fast Ricky Bobby at 3 to one on the move to the inside seizing second and Ricky Bobby sets his sights on IL Capitano Ember from last is also coming on very very quickly and the complexion is changing as before so this is the debut and I want to see how the fives behaving we’ve got a pretty good crowd here so sometimes the horses that have not been out here on race day get a little freaked out but there’s none of that here with this five very calm and under control is mchan with the Hall of Fame trainer and 9 to one The People’s Choice is the six heavily favored right now at 3-2 is 86 Chevy Alonzo Keen yonz for Tim Padilla ran a great debut last time at Tampa Bay Downs if the horse can duplicate that effort he’s going to be double tough here I expect speed and I expect him to be right there when the real running starts if you want a cash you got beat the six here in race seven my top pick in the race will be the seven though I’m going to try Army kid my power play today for Cody Rosine I’ve got great connections and my guy Eduardo Gallardo in the saddle debuted at Keelan in $150,000 Maiden race didn’t show much that day but the workouts tell me we’re going to see a whole different horse here now as a three-year-old looks really good in the paddock I mean on the muscle and ready to rock is Army kid and number eight the Grays book in the field this is my Cairo kid Luis Valenzuela for Martinez third off the layoff in from Arizona good speed and a good Gate jockey to me the eight another one of those horses that is of value on the board right now 10 to1 he will be in number seven have to I on the and they move in line 86 Chevy 2 to one Army kid two and half to one jockey and trainer for the seven looking for triples tap it boy goes in Army kid goes in and here is Palace attain now my Cairo kid or is they would say in Nebraska my Caro kid an lav eight in the gate it’s the Sunday penultimate and they’re racing and they broken a line shortly after the start number five mchan the firsttime starter got pinched back to last and stumbled and the rider Roman did everything he could just to stay on but that one is last meanwhile Palace attained at a million to one pokes the head in front outside of that is my Cairo kid Army kid splits them and we have three across the track with a half mile to travel 86 Chevy the Tampa steam in the clear tracking and that one is racing to the outside of flash humor who’s pinned down to the inside tap it boy between them Mikan is recovering to be about five lengths from the lead being ridden a bit to do so but is on the move and in last is speaking loud the Ary boy is last but running on on the inside and Palace attained still holding on the lead tenuously Army kid puts the head in front kicks for home outside of that 86 Chevy right behind him is Flash humor and then we come to mckuin into the final 150 it is Army kid running away from them all an army kid bet down to favoritism provides Eddie G and trainer Cody Ros seene with triples 761 in race 7even e e e e now winner in the winter Circle it’s Army kid and that’s three for Eddie G Eduardo gardo likewise for trainer Cody rosan and the winning owners are JL racing race number Eight’s about 22 minutes from now we have no scratches and following race number eight the kids get to run on the dirt track couple of races for kids about 40 yard in distance that’s about 10 minutes after the eighth and final live race e and they’re racing and they broken a line shortly after the start number five McKuen the firsttime starter got pinched back to last and stumbled and the rider Roman did everything he could just to stay on but that one one is last meanwhile Palace attained at a million to one pokes the head in front outside of that is my Cairo kid Army kid splits them and we have three across the track with a half mile to travel 86 Chevy the Tampa steam in the clear tracking and that one is racing to the outside of flash humor who’s pinned down to the inside tap it boy between them Mikan is recovering to be about five lengths from the lead being ridden a bit to do so but is on the move and in last speaking loud the Ary boy is last but running on on the inside and Palace attained still holding on to the lead tenuously Army kid puts the head in front kicks for home outside of that 86 Chevy right behind him is Flash humor and then we come to mckuin into the final 150 it is Army kid running away from them all and army kid bet down to favoritism provides Eddie G and trainer Cody Rosine with tries 761 in race seven e e e e now winner in The Winner Circle it’s e e e e e e e welcome back to the studio It’s the final race of the day the horses that is thank you everybody for coming out and joining us for the dogs and the thoroughbreds there’s 101 tickets left in the final five that are alive after you know some hble horses some horses who got bet down but after the way that the early one paid with some of the prices that came in with that good if you are alive and as you can see up on the screen right now some very nice ones coming with the final five the favorite right now at even money is yo dog by far the lowest one but a lot of people like yo dog and you do too why are you on him today I just thought as I looked at this race he’s a horse that fits this level really well he’s a horse that comes from a really good trainer and you know he looks like a horse that’s rounding into top form so in a race where I didn’t think there were any total standouts I thought yo dog was a horse that was going to get a really good trip we know he likes this racetrack but I thought there were some other prices that maybe we could mix in with yo dog I don’t like the price he’s at right now I would not recommend personally a wind bet at these odds but I do think there’s still a lot of ways to make money you can ke him on top of the trifecta and use a bunch of horses in second and third do an xacta where you can wheel him over a couple long shots so we’ll talk about some of the other horses we like and let’s just try to get creative and you don’t like y dog on top uh why did you go different direction no I just want a different direction because recency yo dog only has one race this year and as we talk about at the beginning of this meet some of these horses have had the entire winter off yo dog isn’t one of those he did get one started in at the beginning of May down at Hawthorne but he got pretty far behind a very fast pace and yo dog had to make up ground that day it’s not exactly his Forte I think he likes to be a bit closer and last year when he came off a Hawthorne prep he had won by four so he’s just not coming into this race in quite the same shape that it appears he was last year I went with a horse on the outside who has a lot of starts to him already this year he’s already won one of them and that’s Cino Majestic currently he’s 7even to one this is my top pick he doesn’t have a whole bunch of speed Paul and I both agree on this horse though he closed fine for a second a little over a month ago the horse that beat him was three to two was just a little bit too good that day and then in his most recent start at lonar he got shuffled back a little bit further off the pace kind of the same thing with yo dog once they get taken out of what they’d like to do they don’t necessarily finish the same if you’re going to give me seven to one on him as opposed to four five on yo dog I’m definitely going to take Cino Majestic and I’m glad that I have him on top but I’m curious about your thoughts as they would line up with mine on laws of man the horse just inside of Cino Majestic because he gives away a lot of experience to some of these but was very impressive in breaking his Maiden at faer it seems like a very realistic step two in trying to win two races in a row yeah and I think when the dust settles at the end of the year Alonzo konas is going to be in the mix but if you’re watching racing early in the meat Lis Fuentes and Eduardo gardo have stood out and if you see them on a horse that maybe is being overlooked you can mix them in Paul Allen’s done it a couple times this weekend and he’s gotten huge prices so yeah I think law you know laws of man make some sense in that try and superfecta on the win and I just don’t like the fact that he’s only had three starts and he’s going against some horses that are pretty salty but hey it’s Luis Fuentes and I do think that matters he’s riding so well he’s good out of the gate and he’ll show the horse I think a good spot and give him a chance the other horse that’s getting overlooked a little bit in my opinion has a big chance we both have the horse second that’s the inside marker I I think this Al kazaba can run a little bit Tampa shipper with some speed your thoughts yeah we got we saw Al kazaba last year when I believe he first came over from New York for the vanwinkle barn and ever since then he’s been picking up check steadily whether he’s here Gulf Stream Tampa all over the place and if you watch some of his races back he always gets himself into the mix he won by a neck last time and that was breaking his Maiden it just took him so many tries he got nine slices along the way to break his Maiden but Al kazaba keeps himself in the race he has inside positioning and like you mentioned he’s N9 to one right now I don’t think that that’s has any chance of sticking but you are looking around at a field that has a lot of the same sort of patterns they’ve might have taken a while to break their maiden or are taking quite a while to try to get their next win at least you see the Light Bulb Has Come on with him but if you are to recommend a win wager we have nine minutes to post still and things may change who would it be based on the board I’m looking at the horse right now I love the way the eights behaving in The Paddock listen I think the most likely winner is the four I can’t play the horse at those odds the eight to me is the value on the board right now at 7 to1 the horse looks good in the paddock we get good connections that are hot right now outside of tack post so I’m going to do the race this way I’m going to but the four and the eight on top in my Trifecta I’m going to go 48 with 148 with all 48 with 148 with all is my Trifecta I love what I saw from the eight in The Paddock how about you I do too I think that he looked he made a good impression I like his outside post he can stay out of that trouble keep himself in the race and if you can get anywhere close to 7 to1 anywhere basically down to 9 to2 that would be my uh acceptable price on Cino Majestic remember if you’re still here you got the kids head out to the track Paul Allen is going to be down there calling this one the kids get to take their turn on the tracks we’ve had dogs horses now the humans can take a go after the last race in eight minutes thank you everybody for joining us on this first family day of the Season lots more fun to come the last is in eight minutes the bugler ladies and gentlemen sir Leonard dier [Music] hey how about that ladies and gentlemen thank you brother thanks so much Paul have good sir Leonard Dyer onto the track now for race number eight just about 6 minutes from now don’t get shut out e e e e e e e e e two minutes don’t get shut out one minute e almost there bat more wind more yes e it’s race time they come for the lucky last moving in line for the eighth and final this Sunday kids run on the track about 10 minutes after this race and the live racing resumes next Saturday 5:00 P PM Canterbury park.com for information on racing concerts and much more yo dog four to five favorite s Majestic has gone in and here they come and big party no whiskies between them and they’re going like the wind into the far turn right behind them yo dog the favorites creeping up up then it’s laws of man keeping that one boxed in after that Al kazaba Al kazaba is on the Move five lengths from the lead behind that one is General crook way back in last freedom Flash and they’re coming home now with about a quarter of a mile to go Magnet and Steel and lav tenaciously holding on Cino Majestic drops out of it outside of that Al kazaba making a big move yo dog on the inside and laws of man right there but yo dog gets the lead into the final football field and scoring the touchdown in race eight yo dog that’s four for readyy G everybody grab e e number four yo dog ran first laws of man second alaz Zaba ran third and big party no whiskey
