Canadian open always a highlight on the PGA tour plenty of well huge crowds big atmosphere and it tends to visit some really nice classical old style golf courses and this year is no different what do style we are visiting Hamilton Golf and Country Club Hamilton Ontario now Harry Colt 1914 original it’s had a Martin E 2019 renovation so the course was basically since the last time we saw it in 2019 that was when Rory Mary won here by seven shots classical Parkland golf course I’m uh CL categorizing it as a midcore golf course so I reckon 15 up to 18 under par it’s short when I say short 7,084 yards that has actually been extended since 2019 it is a par 70 only two part fives holes with water hazards 11 number of sand bunkers 72 Acres of Fairway 38 Fairways are bent grass with poana the rough is Kentucky Blue Grass with poana and Fescue up to 4 in so nice and juicy the greens have been extended as part of the E renovation they’ve been uh basically they’ve added about 1,000 square ft to all of them and where they were before a mixture of B grass and po cuz they were old uh they are now V8 sounds like a Chevrolet doesn’t it V8 creeping bent grass so pure bent grass greens scoring averages we’ve seen this in 2012 as well it was W by let me think it was one of course by the one and only Scott piery he won it was a 69.5 n average across the field uh then in 2019 with maroy 69.6 6 so played under par uh it was basically middle of the pack in terms of difficulty across both of those two years on the PGA tour Hamilton 300 yards carry the fairways are 29 yards wide so pretty similar to what we saw last week at like Colonial Country Club uh but the thing is the the golf course here just a smidge on under 7100 yards for par 70 it is not a long golf course the Agronomy as I said bent grass greens now this golf course as well it’s interesting Rory maroy shot 61 here on Sunday to win at 22 underpar back in 2019 he was seven shots clear of Shane Larry who’s getting absolutely hammered in the betting market and web Simpson so it is very very scorable Scott piery w at 17 under par so that’s kind of I don’t see that changing in 2024 at all oh I should have said it as well congratulations if you were on Davis Riley last week I saw prices on Monday 350 to1 with the univet on Davis Riley and I know some of you were on board so congratulations for that I racked up my ninth runnerup of the Year Scotty shefer so thanks for that nine Runners up and a winner this year in 2024 you could make it up could you nine Runners up and one winner it’s incredible stuff but we will plow on the luck will change anything else to say well I think what we’re going to get this week is a soft golf course we had a very soft golf course in 2019 and when you see the name of Scott piery winning in 2012 I think it was the same then they have created new irrigation system I don’t think there’s any sub air here though um it’s been raining Sunday Monday I’m recording this Monday here in the shes of the UK outside of London um and it’s not going to be particularly hot here as we saw in uh Fort Worth last week in Texas which was roasting hot we’re going to see very comfortable temperatures it’s basically like a like a summer’s day here in the UK nothing too crazily hot 19 to 24° c 66 to 75° Fahrenheit no wind whatsoever so again I think they’re going to be heading up towards that 18 underpar score if you are bang on it um in terms of how the course played Strokes gained off the T first surprising that with Rory mroy Strokes gained on a approach uh fifth Strokes gained around the green sixth Strokes gain T to Green first Strokes gain pting sixth Scott piery in 2012 Strokes going off the T 11th Strokes G approach 33rd Strokes going around the green fourth he was chipping and putting like well chipping like Scotty Sheffer Strokes going T to Green ninth Strokes game putting fourth and it’s interesting if you look at the way that mroy won here around about 28% of his Strokes gain totals with the flat stick so again I wouldn’t suggest team noart this week you Aaron rice sorts yeah they will navigate this course beautifully will they win well history would suggest no unless they have an incredibly rare week with the putter if you actually look at the traditional strats across Ry maroy Scott piery and Jim furri and let’s be frank that isn’t overly helping when you’re looking at furick a Fairways and greens man piery and mroy two bombers and as you get with the statistics when you average them through 19th for driving distance 14th for accuracy I do think you’ve got to be accurate off the tea here Greens in regulation 30th proximity to hold 24th scrambling L pting average puts forg fourth unfortunately it’s one of these tournament where you do actually have to be a bit of a putt and we saw that with Davis Riley last week he made plenty of putts at Colonial and eventually it did make a vast difference to win that tournament by the number of shots he did very very impressive so again I think Strokes game patting doesn’t scream doesn’t scream Cory Connor to me top 10 of my predictor model I will put a link through to the predictor model at golf betting system in the description box top 10 if I mention each way places all the 50 odds 10 Aaron R 50 to1 with uni bet six places each way nine Sam Burns 25 to1 with William Hill eight places each way eight Patton kazah 150 to1 with Sky Bet eight each way seven Keith Mitchell 45 to1 with Sky Bet eight places each way six Cory Connors 25 to1 with bet Fred top five Barett 22 to1 with William Hill eight places four Adam Scott 33 to1 with bet 365 three is Alex norren 25 to1 with B Victor two sahi igala 20 to1 with William Hill eight places each way number one Rory maroy 39-1 so effectively 4 to 10 4 to one that is Win only with bet 365 22 under par is the total we are looking for this week with Rory maroy winning it at that level in 2019 winning by seven can you believe it right what do you think we need well I would suggest a warm putter is something that wouldn’t be a bad thing I’ll take you through the top 12 of my patting statistics don’t forget these are eight weeks across the PJ T and the DP world two are combined um I’ve got full 25 man rankings in this field in my full betting preview which of course is available in the description box below uh a tie for 11th sh Kim Roy maroy and Cameron young 10 is Gary Woodland top 10 for putting last eight weeks wow nine Ben Griffin eight Vince Wy seven Patton Kazi six is Kevin TW five Tyson Alexander four rabert Robert McIntyre three sah tala two Matt cuchar number one you won’t be overly surprised Denny McCarthy is in the field so it’s McKenzie Hughes Strokes gain T2 green top 12 uh a tie for 11th Shane Larry and Matt Wallace Matt Wallace did have a good look at Matt Wallace so if I were you guys I’d jump on board uh nine is patteron kazah and Aaron Ry eight Mac Meisner seven Cory Connors six Keith Mitchell a tie for fourth Tommy Fleetwood and Chan Kim three Kevin Yu two Rory maroy number one Alex nin or Alex noren if we go down The Strokes G approach fifth in the field route that was Rory baroy approach is going to be important this week last eight weeks here with the top 12 12 is Adam hadwin oh sorry that’s a lie 12 is a tight Daniel Berger Bryce garet and Aaron Ryan nine uh 10 lanto Griffin nine Alex naren eight Kevin Yu seven Adam senson six Kelly craft five Chan Kim four Rory maroy three sahit deala two Patton kazai worse bets than Paton kazai number one Cory Connors and strokes gain total Strokes gain current form these are the 12 hottest players on the PJ tour DP world tour right now a tire for 11th maick McNeely and Adam Scott 10 is Keith Mitchell nine is MC mner very very big price on Mt Meisner after a top five last week eight Cory Connors seven sahala six Matt Wallace a tie for fourth Tommy Fleetwood and Kevin T three is Patton kazy two is Alex nuren number one Rory melroy winning prices of RBC Canadian Open winners okay 66 to1 last year Nick Taylor uh Rory maroy in 2021 10 to1 2019 Rory maroy 10 to1 2018 Zack uh Kev Kevin Johnson d Johnson 7 to1 favorite then we’ve got joh Jonathan Vegas two wins he won it on the truck 1725 to1 16 125 to1 of course these are all different courses 2015 Jason day 9 to1 favorite 2014 Windam Clark 66 to1 so if you’re hearing that right 7 to1 favorite 10 to1 10 to1 Jason day 9 to1 favorite there’s a 7 to1 in there with Dustin Johnson and then we’re 66 to1 with Nick Taylor 66 to1 with uh Tim Clark and 125 to one with Jonathan Vegas twice there is a Scott piery in there at 50 to1 as well going back to 2010 so no one has won this between 10 to one and 50 to one going back to 2012 that is a hell of a dead zone and in a world where we’re even getting favorites that are single digits we’ve had Xander at 18 to1 and Billy horel at 20 to1 and then nobody in the hold of 2024 was won between 20 to1 and 50 to1 I’m off those positions really um difficult to see well it’s just the way that golf betting is at the moment very very strange the way that these prices keep pounding in again as I said 350 to1 available last week on Davis Riley well this is where I’m at I’ve taken the 39- 10 on Rory maroy he’s got an easier field this week it’s a soft golf course and this would be his third win in four outings one with st Larry one at qua Hollow 12th at the PJ Championship first at the RBC Canadian open I can see that as clear as day he has this would be his third Canadian open title he’s only played this will be his fourth start he’s also won on Australian Open a British Open a Hong Kong open an Irish open a Scottish open and the United States open so yeah 39 to 10 I am on Rory mroy I would take marroy over Tommy Fleetwood I will take maroy over Alex naren I will take maroy over Shane Larry I will take maroy over Cory Conners I will take him over sburns every day of the week with the way that the betting markets and the winners are going in 2024 and the way that this is completely either 10 to1 and lower or 66 to1 and above there was a 50 in there with Scott piery I’m taking Rory Ma I have taken 40 to1 I’ve got one and a half points each way on Maverick mcne I got that with William Hill eight places each way if there’s one thing we can say about Maverick McNeely his best performances top 10 top 12 top fives they are all and I mean all on short to The Very extreme medium length golf courses and when I say medium the longest I can find is the Detroit Golf Club 7,320 yards everything else is sub that dear uh CPC dear run 7,289 yards uh Pebble Beach Fifth and second you look at those courses they’re all 71 to 7,000 yards in length Silverado we’re on board that year 2021 uh 7,123 yards Harper Town fourth in 2021 7,121 yards it’s all short golf courses and the fact that already in 2024 he’s finished sixth at Scottsdale which is about 73 but then you’ve got to take off 10 11 12 percentage points for altitude 13th at vidanta and Ninth at TPC Sor grass he’s playing some cracking golf he’s coming off a 23rd at the PJ Championship which was his best major ever and then last week 17th the colonial I think this golf course is going to suit him down to the ground I’ve got 40 to one with William Hill eight places each way with Maverick mcne could see a breakthrough for McNeely you do tend to though get experienced winners getting over the line here Tim Clark yeah Scott piery just go go through the numbers every single RBC Canadian open I think going back to 2009 has had a player that has won a PGA to a title so that’s great for the likes of Tommy Fleetwood isn’t it um and for Alex noren um I am next up one and a half points each way 50 to1 we have seen it with Scott PC and 50 to1 tends to be the uh the mo the smallest winning price of players that do chip in at these Midway prices this year in 2024 I’m going 50 to1 with William Hill again eight places each way on the South African EVR Eric Van royan eighth in Mexico this year second at the cognizant classic fourth at the Myrtle Beach Classic within his last nine starts the thing with Eric is international team President’s Cup he’s playing some great golf but he’s not really making a dent on the top 12 this week at the Canadian open of course with a lot of his potentially Canadian teammates he’s going to be playing this tournament in front of Mike Weir the international team captain it will go one of two ways with EVR he will either be inspired and play fantastic golf or he will miss the cut I got a feeling though when you say when you put EVR and he did this in 2021 one of the Barracuda alterate opposite event then he went seventh at Liberty National fifth at K’s Valley and he qualified for the Tour Championship if you actually give EVR a deadline you’ve got to hit something it kind of inspires him rather than just you know month to month I think he really wants to get into this President’s Cup team this year and the deadline is starting just to creep up he needs for me shorter courses where scoring is more than available I think this week will really suit fascinatingly enough the Canadian open he has played was here in 2019 he wasn’t even a PGA to a member at that point he was playing most of his golf on the DP World Tour and the OD WGC he finished 20th eventually but it was ninth after 54 holes he was third for strokes gain off the T only a spot behind or two spots behind Rory mroy he was seventh for t to Green that week he is a two-time PGA Tour winner I fancy EV this week Eric Van royan 50 to1 available with William Hill at this point eight places each way and finally 300 to1 made the top he was T5 last week at the Colonial Country Club and when we’ve seen him in both 2021 and 2023 he has strung together significant top eight top five five finishes one after the other he’s also got Canadian tour background all of his 2020 n so all of his 2019 outings as a young pro were on the Canadian T which I don’t think is a Bad Thing playing these kind of shorter golf courses with all of these Upstate North American kind of grass greens rather than the southern KN SK States Bermuda um Zia and the like Kentucky blueg grass tick pimp power tick Bentgrass greens tick he’s got all of that Hayden Buckley eighth at TPC summerin and second at the Sony Open in 2023 he’s also finished fifth last year 2023 at harbort toown and that was a signature level event loaded finished fifth fifth also at narina where they played the Zozo in Japan is another short 7,000 yardish tight Tree Line Golf Course undulations similar to what we’re going to see at Hamilton this week so yeah I thought 300 to one William Hill eight places each way and a guy that finished fifth last week Hayden Buckley was a good price I’m on Buckley at 300 to1 if we’re going to get another one of these crazy out there winners so Buckley at 300 to one with William Hill I’ve got Eric Van royan 50 to1 again with William Hill 40 to1 with William Hill eight places each way on Maverick McNeely and six points to win 39-10 with bet 365 on Rory maroy those are my four for
