We’ve debated this for a while on the podcast and now Frankie is going to put it to the test. Will playing from the forward tees drastically improve his score? We are at his home course Colonial Springs on Long Island, playing from 1,200 yards shorter than he normally does. What do we think he shoots?

all right everybody welcome back to the foreplay Channel today we have a very interesting video for you something that we’ve debated for a long time will the forward te’s help my game this is a huge spin on what we’ve usually done I’m just going to play my own ball ball in hole full USGA rules will it make me better we’re at my home course here on Long Island Colonial Springs I’m very excited it’s something that I’ve debated for a long time I think it’s going to help my game tremendously we’ve got people out there saying no chance let’s get into it all right so from the back te’s here at Colonial Springs at 6831 from the forward T’s 5,343 y this is an interesting challenge because it’s going to bring in way more shots that I’m not used to we’re going to try and drive every single Par Four we’re going to try and get on the green on every single par five we’re going to have flip wedges in on par 3es you still got to hit the shots but let’s just let’s do something out here today Joel Damon even said I wouldn’t break 80 come on let’s show them something drive on [Music] one come on Brandon if we’re going to hit the ball like that today we’re going to have one hell of a video on our hands flip wedge in let’s go I’m excited I’m excited I’ll tell you what we got this little party pack with us here too truly tequila sodas I’m going to try and crack One open when I make a nice birdie you know what I’ve already cracked One cracked one on the Range so that rule is already gone and we’re already drinking this is the pineapple guava truly tequila soda it’s got a good scent to it yeah it does MHM this is the man the myth the legend Brennan Jones not a single video that we put out gets done without the magic of this man what you’ve been able to accomplish is out of control like filming out on a golf course with four people hitting the ball rigs is droing his clubs after making contact Trent can’t break 90 I’m a lunatic probably saying things I shouldn’t be saying that you got to edit out every 5 seconds it’s not easy not an easy job man what you got in here you know what else is not an easy job is getting this thing up and down that’s what we’re going to try and do come on all right 62 yards come on let’s start this thing off with a bang bite right on it sit oh my God that action that Harris English all right that was aggressive I chunk the [ __ ] out of it Baywatch come on now show me something downhill fast Miss rdit second grade teacher MRE not every hole is going to be a birdie but the thing about playing the forward teas is we’re going to have opportunities for him and we have to clean up the pars Danny Rapaport on the podcast when I told him about this idea said don’t stress about trying to make birdie don’t go crazy don’t go Chas chasing make the four call it a day and when you have the birdie opportunity make it and that’s how we’re going to go [Music] low usually 521 from the back 465 par five let’s go didn’t turn I’m going to get blocked out by that tree I’m also going to find myself in situations where like that shot would have been right down the middle from the back because of the distance and now I’m thick rough behind a tree no chance to make it in two don’t chase oh dude we might be we’re far enough behind this tree that we can get in we can get on it’s like 170 I’m going to take a seven iron oh no I duffed it I got lucky though it didn’t hit a single tree yes it did yes it did right when I said it didn’t hit a tree it hit a tree no dude bounce forward all right we got kind of Lucky with that bounce Peter milar putts you you got to at least give him a chance but we’re even through two one par five down missed opportunity dude this is a [ __ ] wed shot 110 it’s like 89 Oh I pushed it it’s the right distance all right oh my God short oh no playing from the forward teas is really just a test on your wedge game and I think historically that’s always been kind of an iffy part of my game major up and down here sit yep yep yep yep falling hole that’s a three all right still got to hit the shots Brandon we’re playing a whole new game from the forward te’s still got to hit the shots still got to make the up and downs all right so this this is this is the number one handicap on lake and it’s always a very daunting tea box uh to hit from 427 dog leg left the green reminds me of um Tobacco Road now we’re driving this thing all the way up like I have a huge smile on my face I’m going to go fivewood right just to the right of those trees I’m not going to hook it exactly that no I think that’s fine I think that’s like as good as it could have been yep I’m good I’m just short of it I mean obviously I would have liked it in the Fairway but just in the the short rough here we’ve got maybe 70 yards in back pin placement 60° wedge looking to land it on the first third of the green pretty quick green bounce forward now and go in the hole or just stop really short but that’s a really good shot we’ve got a birdie chance all right this is a slider left to right let’s make a birdie here let’s get hot get it to the hole man it’s not going cuz I’m not giving it make Pace I’m not you got to look a you got to look a hole behind the hole I’m looking at the front of the [ __ ] cup and I’m trying to Dy these things in and they’re just not reaching like you get a birdie opportunity like that you got to get it past the hole it’s got to roll out all right even far nothing to write home about but also nothing to complain about feel like it’s a pretty good spot to be in fifth hole par3 133 pitching wedge just be the right distance man get there yes that was an aggressive aggressive line I love it though and one of the biggest things is just playing well like because that’s that’s the control of the experiment exactly when you’re on or at least playing your your style SL average golf game yes it might better or worse it didn’t roll out the way I wanted all right I’m okay with that putting stroke if I putt like that all day they’re going to find the hole dude there’s a lot of flies out here today and they’re all over the golf ball like that one had like six flies on the ball yeah and I’m like staring at it level par man this is the more getable side out of the two that we’re playing it’s like you want to start making some birdies out here sixth hole not much of an advantage here back te’s or the blues wherever we usually play from same te box so it’ll be just a maybe one Club difference instead of a pitching wedge in we probably a uh little 60° oh I missed it but because of the QI 10 it’s right down the middle right off the toe with draw spin high toe you see that impact how insane is that I hit it right there right down the middle moment of inertia when you hit it off the toe and this is going to sound like an ad but it’s just this is factual off the toe it just doesn’t twist the face it keeps it straight at impact all right because we hit that so bad we’re right where we usually are I said pitching wedge and that’s what we’re going to have 130 135 same exact shot as we just had on the par three really good really really good just felt awesome just striking these great oh by the way this is my first video with my p770 is the coppers so I have a combo I’m going 456 with the 790s just because I wanted to ease into it kind of all right let’s make this thing uphill again I will not leave it short dude these flies I stared at them again before I hit it they’re all over the golf ball I almost have you have almost have to zoom in on these things there’s one bro over there it they covered the ball all right I that was a mental Warfare of a hole the Flies are getting in my head what’s it going to take for me to get this ball in the hole for a birdie that wasn’t that easy of a hole 345 it’s not like just because you’re playing from the forward te’s you still have to hit a drive you still have to get it on the green and you still have to two putt playing from the forward te’s does not just get the ball in the [Music] hole all right Brandon we are here at the seventh Hole Lake Colonial Springs our guy Jean the super here he blew the whole thing up completely renovated it um he put in all these new bunkering on the right all these new Mounds he added a landing area in front of the green with all this amazing green surround he added all these bunkers on the left it’s such an appealing hole to the eye for the golfer now you can push it you can pull it doesn’t matter where you go you have a shot now to go for the green it’s a short Par Four today we’re playing from the forward te’s it’s very short it’s like 215 so we’re going to rip it for the green but from the backs it’s a getable par four if the winds at your back I love having one hole like this on a golf course so um you’re seeing right now the Drone shot you’re seeing what it used to look like also um thanks to Jee for sending us the the photos great work here at our home Club just a shout out to all the guys that do the work during the winter man um people don’t realize how much work they put into this place so it’s awesome awesome to see now let’s make a birdie thinking it’s a four iron I’m a little nervous I’m in between clubs here just get over the bunker that he built oh yeah all right just over the green what a hole Yeah I hit it like a little low so it came in hot but I think we have a little chip for uh for an eagle it’s off the green that’s probably in a [ __ ] bunker oh my God what am I doing what am I doing holy smoker ronies that’s a bogey and boy it I deserve it just goes to show you man this game’s tough doesn’t matter where you tee off from you got to hit the shots you can’t blade that first one not going to kill us we got to stay calm cool and Collective eighth hole we got to make one up that was a horrific bogey this hole believe it or not I eagled last week from all the way back there hit a great drive hit a four iron it’s it ran all the way up to the green went to 10 ft made the putt was unbelievable FaceTime my dad on the green I’m like I think I’m going to make this Eagle Putt and now we have about a 100 yard difference should do it get into the Fairway oh 142 nine iron obviously water to the right so the the play is left side of the green whole thing goes towards the hole Anyway come on this is our chance come on baby come on baby be the right number [ __ ] yeah come on baby eagle chance talked about it on the te box let’s make it happen on the green I’m I’m coming around my body a little bit more and it’s like drawing a little bit I feel like with the 790s I had a little bit of a cut cuz there was more forgiving so I was like coming like almost like a little more out to end now I got to get used to like I’m getting like a little draw spin like that nineiron went super high landed here and and ended up here Boom come on Brendon that’s a three yes yes I know I just played from the forward team but that’s the second time I’ve Eagle this whole this week that’s unreal yes one under going into nine let’s go yes bogey Eagle that’s what I’m talking [Music] abouton this is where Trent topped his well we don’t like to talk about it but moment of silence Moment of Silence of Trent the ninth hole Lake look at where we’re getting to ke off on this we don’t have to worry about the [ __ ] water wow you got hitting me man bro it’s 280 from up here you got to like shoot those down on the right the water is even more in play If you’re trying to go for the hole now this is a this is an iron all day yeah this is a play it to the right yeah [ __ ] up and down for b no I’m ripping driver really yeah I draw it dude yeah let’s just be aggressive water all down the left we have a way better angle than we usually do from back there so I’m taking advantage of it going right at that mound I pulled it yeah I’m fine see that’s why it’s fine I don’t know I just felt like if I’m going to make a mistake I knew it was going to be a pull and I’d rather be up there by the green we’ve got I don’t know 60 yards here 50 yards here tough tough green so I’m going to play it on the right side of the pin got to get it up a little bit in the air it’s going to run everything runs very fast towards the water on this hole be good be really good see it’s so [ __ ] fast look at this yeah you got to land it even shorter yeah you got to land it like right over this mound honestly anything aside from putting this in the water and making a double is huge already chance watch this break ah not high enough good Pace though oh maybe not good Pace maybe a little bit more would have went in that’s a 35 good front nine I think a little bit better than most people expected I am hitting the ball well so I was very excited to do this video today to The Back Nine we go let’s just keep this thing [Music] rolling this is by far the harder side out of the 27 here we’re not going to let that get in our heads we’re just going to rip this thing all the way up by the green it’s just a little left but so damn far it’s going to kick right yep it’s going to funnel down towards the right we’re going to be fine it’s going to be a tough shot but let’s just get this over the bunker sit sit sit sit uphill all day I’ve been leaving these short definitely didn’t leave that one short that’s for sure [ __ ] red out oh my God that’s a bogey it’s the only [ __ ] tap in putt that I have not pulled the PIN for just [Music] all right mental lapse there kind of rushed just settle down stay sit there all right might be a tough greenside bunker shot if I got all of this one I may have had a chance of degree all that work on the front paying attention grinding just goes to show you got to pay attention every shot just got to land this just on sit sit all right let’s regroup here we missed a shorty let’s make a long [Music] one more than I thought bro these things run [Music] yes all right this is going to be a grind one over on the back all square level par [Music] even 54° 105 to the stick love that yardage just missed it yeah safe D A lot of these little shots right you’re like testing the best part of your game or like not the best part of your game but like yeah yeah you know what I mean yeah what needs to be the best part of what needs to be the best part of you exactly cuz you hit that 54 what numbers between what what I can hit it like eight like I usually use it like 75 to 110 so you had to take some off of it there yeah that’s hard thing to do yeah but it’s also it’s like man would you rather that little shot or a [ __ ] full dude I’m just saying it’s like it’s it’s hard to say that’s not the easiest shot even though it is hard all right not the worst here it’s just [ __ ] we’re not taking advantage honestly if I don’t like go crazy low it just opens up to try and do another episode can I beat the number sit dude [ __ ] killing these balls got to make this oh oh [ __ ] all right two Bogies in the last three holes I’m frustrated that was frustrating it’s putting man doesn’t matter what tea you’re teeing off from got to get the ball in the hole all right par five this is where we get one back not cruising them right now little bit off the toe little fast finding myself in rough like leaving myself with just a little bit further than I want 172 to the middle of the green 7 iron let’s hit a good shot here kind of nice lie too pulled it kick left kick left yeah off the back all right too much Club I should have seen with that lie I was going to fly this thing’s going to run downhill the whole way this is a uh this is a big chip this thing’s going to run so it’s just about getting it on it’s going to get down to the hole like that it’s got to get down to the hole pin High come on Dr Brett M cave that’s what I’m talking about see the shot say the shot execute the shot now we have to make this one and we will there we go that’s a birdie that’s a birdie I got a fly in my eye I got a fly in my eye right now okay we’re good back to even par that’s what I’m talking about hitting like a towy drive and a seven iron over the green and tripping one close and tapping is usually just like a gritty par yeah that’s what I thought just happened but today it’s a phenomenal birdie hey good job yeah appreciate that birdie calls for a truly drink wow 335 bunkers green side at 299 we are all systems go for a driver I’m 99% sure I’ll end up in that right rough hopefully not the high stuff but there’s a nice little landing area down there on the left I just haven’t really hit it that way all day that’s what I’m talking about that is what I’m talking about that’s what we’ve been waiting for come on it’s been a couple holes since I’ve done that that felt good let’s go now little 54° we didn’t even look at the yardage we’re just going to try and land this thing right in the front of the green run it up that hill towards the pin come on execute this one pushed it a little bit but I think that should be up on top yep we just wanted to get on top of that Hill I definitely didn’t want to hit it that left man if I didn’t push that that would have been right on the stick like hit it there and let it go left don’t hit it here runs out longer than I thought I hit it this will be fast as [ __ ] like really fast go went around the hole all right that was my best part of the day I felt like par I thought I let it [ __ ] come in at like 7 7 or 8:00 where it had to go in hey if you putt like that all day you’re going to find some we’re also even par can’t really complain too much just frustrating I’m leaving some out there you know so this hole is interesting because the way that they’ve made this Fairway it’s uh there’s really like not a a a flat spot to land it on from up here I might be able to rip it on the right side and have a nice little chip in as opposed to down in that gly with like a sideways lie at the tough pin I think it’s exactly what I just said just kick right yeah that’s going to be a good spot we’re happy about that we’re hitting the ball good now I think we figured out how to stop that little Snapper 65 yards I’m actually taking a 60° on this one I’ve been using a 54 we’re going to try and hit let this thing land soft cuz it’s pretty quick up there be the right distance yes dude [ __ ] yeah is that tight is that like oh it’s like right behind it it looked good sounded good felt good sounded good result was good let’s make a birdie another opportunity missed there yeah we could start thinking back to uh a lot of holes that we had some serious chances on I wanted a three there so bad man if we start filming these more it’s like it’s really going to teach you teach me how much I need to make these [Music] putts let’s let’s keep the momentum going here huh right over the bunker perfect spot oh little left it’s not going to kill us but is that going to stop us from going in too sit ah maybe maybe maybe kills us we are flying out here just for reference for the video I don’t know how long this video is going to end up being hopefully quick it’s going to be like a quick edit I think we’ll end up finishing this 18 holes in 2 and 1 half hours so as it show you good golf yeah good golf and no one’s out here is that it right there I think it is I thought I thought I saw it come right down wow all right it’s going to be tough to get on too yep that’s me so stand if you stand right here and show people my view I’ve got the pin is obviously right there but the tree might be in my line if I hit a Dr I don’t know does a hybrid hit this tree like off impact I think we’re good I just don’t want there’s water all right of the green this is a risky play but you know what this is why we’re out here chances to get on and two come on sit it’s right at it wow you see that it hit the punk bunker and skipped out of the bunker short of the green if that would have cleared the bunker on a fly I think that would have ran right through the green we got a little wedge here just can’t [ __ ] Duff it that’s that’s for sure it was like close to what I wanted to do I actually wanted to land it like here I landed it here if anything this is teaching me just I have a lot a lot of practice to do around the greens let’s make this let’s [ __ ] go under par turned more than we thought [ __ ] end just not enough Pace again like that’s not enough Pace the balls got to go out here like go through the hole well stop trying to dye everything in man another opportunity let’s go finish up strong we’re even [Music] far I’m just not making as many birdies as I thought yeah I don’t know but I’m tapping in for par like yeah there’s no stress there’s yeah that’s actually probably the biggest difference 100% your your pars are like zero stress yeah I we made a couple come back but but again even though it’s only 84 I’ve got to make an up and down from 84 yards to make a birdie like that’s not it’s not an easy [ __ ] golf shot y that had some side English on it yeah that was good that was a good one that’s what we’re talking about come on make some putts man what do you level level par all right so let’s roll I one under then I was two then I was one over and then I made a birdie and three Pars in a row let’s just make this maam oh my God what did I just do [Music] [Music] you know I’m an [ __ ] [Music] all right 18 hole um that last ball we tossed into the bad lands we’re going with the taco Tuesday ball here from Taylor Made the tp5x the last one was good to me for a couple holes and then it really really got nasty on me you know this isn’t necessarily A need to hit driver the water’s on the right I probably could hit a seven iron pitching wedge in but we are going to rip a drive down the middle up at those mounds and just ignore the water on the right that is so far straight that I don’t even know from this T box I don’t even know where that ball could possibly have ended up but we’re going to go see that’s not a great spot there Brandon this is [ __ ] royally I have no idea what’s the yardage on this [ __ ] all right this is a blind shot off some [ __ ] over a bunker probably playing 100 yards which’re going to take a 60° and just swing at it the left of the window you’ve got the Drone up we’re just going to [ __ ] trust this number oh that’s so bad and so short I think we’re going to be okay for chipping but that’s the worst shot ever it popped straight up and went left on me it’s going to be tough to hold this but yeah I would have rather been in the bunker cuz like what do you even do just got to land it right here just got to land this thing right here and hope that it trickles down and doesn’t hit that [ __ ] uh sprinkler that sprinkler is right in our way that was the right Speed without that sprinkler where’re I was just nervous cuz that’s right where I had to land it even pars out of the picture I don’t want to talk about it this is for a 73 that’s a great putt there where was that all day all right Brendon that’s a video a lot a lot was left out there I’m pretty frustrated about it but I am happy 73 I mean how can be mad about that regardless of what teas you play um we hit some good shots we scrambled it definitely was eye opening about um how bad of a putter I am if I haven’t already noticed it I definitely noticed it today I don’t think 60s is out of the question I think if we make some of those putts we’re right there on the on the c f first let’s break par but we’re right on the cusp of like really putting together an all time round I actually had a really good day today it was all around the greens which that was the debate like when you play from a, yard short it’s going to bring in a lot of these things and you’re going to find yourself in some tricky situations if you’re not dialed in with the wedge I’m not that dialed in with the wedge and we saw it so that’s the video shout out to truly shout out to Taylor Made thank you
