just just winning a major right it’s like something you dream about but not necessarily something that that happens for a lot of people but Corpus could make her own name here in her breakthrough second year on the LPGA Tour hasn’t won why not win the biggest one of [Music] all throughout that whole final round um I just felt really calm for some reason it just it just felt like you know no matter what happens I’ll be happy with the result I just had a lot of ke putts go in early I mean I birdied the first hole made a really good parut on the second and then I didn’t see a leaderboard until number 14 and right after I made the birdie on 14 and realized that I had a three shot lead at that point I think the birdie on 14 for me was where it felt felt like I just needed to finish the job I mean yeah they up and down on 12 was really solid I had originally plann you know that front bunker is not a bad spot to miss and then walked up to the bunker and it was a bit of a worse lie than I expected and just to be able to make that parut definitely helped the momentum to just keep going and then yeah being able to birdie 14 and 15 coming in just felt like you know I’m I’m going to win now I mean it was really just the last t- shot it was really just you know there’s one more hole left and I’ve come this far and I mean at this point it really is just just my win so walking up 18 with Jay was really special um we were really just kind of looking out at the crowds I think that was was the first time that day that that we looked out and saw everyone supporting me um it was just really surreal just to watch all the grand stands and I mean knowing that we were the final group and knowing that everyone was sticking around to watch me win was really special there was a lot of emotion walking up 18 I mean I think I had thought about the history just throughout all throughout the week um but in the moment me and Jay were just kind of talking about you know enjoy it like this this is a once- in a-lifetime opportunity and yeah really just try and enjoy the moment and just know that you know it’s it’s ours and yeah it was a really special time yeah that last put um at that point I knew that I had a three-stroke lead um for a very brief second I did think you know if I miss it it’s okay I’ll have another shot at it um but no I hit the first one probably a little too hard um the adrenaline definitely got to me there and then was really just over that putt thinking you know one more good stroke this is it um this is what you work so hard for and it’s Allison Corpus who indeed emerges as the very first champion in the US Women’s Open at Pebble Beach he said congratulations and um felt felt pretty unreal in the moment and then I think I just had immediately started crying so what I told him was like oh my gosh I’m such an ugly crier and I can’t believe like everyone is seeing that so that’s why we’re laughing in that video I’m really really grateful for the win um I mean yeah there’s so many great women who have come before me and it’s an honor to just add my name to a part of that Legacy winning at Pebble was just really special I mean even more now that I’ve had a few months to reflect on it and I had a lot of friends and family come out and watch I had my parents had my boyfriend’s parents I had div and Rachel I don’t think any of us could talk honestly it was just just a lot of hugs a lot of Tears they’ve invested so much time and everything to help me get to where I am today so to be able to share that moment with them was something that I’ll remember forever I mean they’ve they’ve supported me through all the ups and downs and it was really special to have them with me there’s another 10 years before there’s another woman’s open there and just to be able to say you know I’ve wanted the same place that so many other greats have W it is really really awesome it’s almost one of those things were like I mean I think everyone thinks about winning the US Open right but at the same time it’s a major I mean this is only my second year on tour like I had a good feeling that you know if I kept putting myself in contention I’d eventually walk away with a win but I don’t think I was really expecting it to be the US Open at Pebble Beach um yeah I mean it was it’s obviously a really special win but just to have it be my first one I think makes it extra special I mean I grew up playing a lot of the usj Championships and so just to be able to feel even more like a part of the usj family with a win um that’s really special to me and just the opportunities that it’s opened up for me so far and I’m sure it’ll continue to do so being able to play on my first ohim cup team and just yeah being able to meet a lot of new people since the win has definitely changed my life I can’t I can’t think of a better first win honestly um definitely worth a wait and yeah hopefully there’s more to come so what does it take to win a major [Music] to Wi a major it took a lot of patience a lot of hard work um and most of all just a lot of self-belief I’m Allison corpo and I’m a US Women’s Open champion
