My mission as your swing coach is simple, to help you maximize your enjoyment in game of golf. Because, let’s face it, golf is a hard game.

My goal for you is to have the most fun of your life playing golf. You’ll be hitting farther, straighter, and playing better golf by watching these videos. What are you waiting for, let’s get started!

I don’t care what your swing looks like if you can do this simple three-minute practice routine you’re going to see tremendous Improvement in your ball striking and it comes to us from the best ball striker of all time Ben Hogan Ben Hogan famous for doing this drill and it helped solidify his swing to create excellent ball striking shot after shot every great player who’s ever lived is going to go top of back swing and they’re going to get into here so whether they went they’re here where they went they’re here and I even saw a guy recently there the position we’re trying to get into is this throwing like position a sidearm throw and we’re going to start down here at the arm if you think about skipping a stone slinging a stone down range this position right here is identical to that position when you are skipping that stone down range and what Hogan got at was if you could think about golf being a sidearm throw so you see I’m standing up straight here and if I did a sidearm throw you see the club shaft it’s doing the correct movements right into impact and you’ll even see at impact sidearm throw shallowing and then impact look at that that’s very powerful I’m not just going no slinging it and then piling through it drop driving this thing through the ball that’s what makes you really good is you’re hitting powerfully you’re pushing out to the ball and so when I think about how the best way is to practice your swing you see horizontal like this sling sling sling but then watch what happens when I tilt over I do the same thing huh that’s different do you see the arm look at that arm and that hand I’ve got relationship to the ground so I’m not standing up not throwing this away early cuz if I was skipping a stone and I wasn’t really skipping it if I was doing it incorrectly I’d be throwing this ball straight down into the ground but I got to think about slinging Target word slinging this way not slinging down the difference is huge with a club sling Target word sling down stand up so here’s how we build this little this little practice routine you start from a slinging position so we’re going to start from where we’ve slung it into impact what does that look like well it’s my trail arm entirely tucked in as much as possible and then what do we do instead of us trying to go out and sling under instead of us getting loopy we’re going to clean up a lot of variables just keep it in like this take it back and you’re going to then sling to the Target and when I release this hand i’m extending my hand fully just to give you the idea of this chain reaction of power boom I push the arm out towards the target as I’m slinging the pebble across the lake and I’m pushing the hand fully straight and you can feel the force of that hand like some Bruce Le karate or doing this with a club it’s really helpful to get the feeling of sling sling and I feel that same thing right there I’m pushing the arm to straight after I’ve slung it in it’s the sling and push and it’s the the exact same motion that I just made up here I tilt it over the only difference is it feels when you’re tilted over it feels like this arm’s rotated Beyond Capac it feels crazy when you’re up here it doesn’t feel so much but now down here it’s different because I’m tilted over so I’m really slinging it under and towards the target I got this horse fly in my ear and I’m still able to do it and then what happens when we start taking this up to two hands well take your feeling out of other parts of your body just think about back swing being shoulders oriented and then think about this sling motion with the right arm so the right arm’s tucked in and then I’m going to sling towards the target sling it towards the Target when I finish I’m not turning the hands remember that we’re not just rotating the hands that’s it’s not powerful we’re pushing boom to there so look at the hands you see after impact this idea of a release powerless release Powerful release I know it looks close but the difference is huge in what you’re applying to the ball here slinging it and then push As I push look at that I’m not consciously turning the hands over it’s the motion of the shoulder moving towards the Target that changes what this looks like so instead of it being a conscious twisting motion like a screwdriver it is a shove of the hand towards Target aggressively keep my tilt and sling it I could not hit the ball towards a Target like that and that crispy I could not hit it like that with one hand if I was doing that I wouldn’t have the ball going towards the target at all I would prefer that you kept this in the whole swing but you could do whatever Back swing you wanted as long as you slung it into here Sling It slung it slung it is that even a past tense of Sling so we’re going to do that here slinging it doesn’t that just have some ring to it marry me wow you are not going to find a crisper sound watching this here the wind not now that I’ve been sufficiently amped up sling it wow boyah well yeah it takes like 10 seconds to sou machine then what you’re going to hit five balls slinging it one-handed tuck it in Sling and then make sure when you finish that we’re here and not doing the cork screw then you’re going to do a little havies sling it look at the Finish it’s identical again identical again really crisp don’t judge yourself harshly about the strike on the one-handers it’s a little hard to do that you’ll hit some bad ones but that’s because you know but you might be used to doing not slinging you’re just throwing the ball straight down and then we go up to that full full schlinger what do we do same thing my goodness it’s the same position people will say oh you can’t hit the ball far doing that you got to to be kidding me this ball is exploding off the face you can just hear it Sling It Again watch the path so behind me sling out throw out see I chunk that a little bit I’m not going to be mad about that it’s a one-handed swing let’s put two hands on let’s let’s Sling It Again blistery why was Hogan so good this is one big part of it I preset the sling machine and then I sling it look at the Finish full sling boom Mo Norman oh you got to hit it you got to hit it the Precision impact trainer I strapped this thing onto my trail arm and here’s where the Magic Begins the sling position here so I’m going to preset a click or two there’s the sling position next thing what I love about it is that it feels like you can tuck it in so I get it glued against my side and I remember this position cuz you feel it’s building swing memory right here so I’m already in the sling position as I go to the top I’m in the sling position as I start down it’s keeping me in the sling position it’s very important especially for those of you who already have one of these cuz I know there’s a lot of you out there having good results with this you will set it and forget it so if you set it with the elbow out well yeah you could keep the elbow out and then you’ll have to sling it more but the important thing is if you feel it here this feel gets ingrained and then when I swing to the top it’s wow every time it reminds me just how much just how much I’ve got to get here just how much I’ve got to get into sling mode now you heard me get a little bit more clicks at the top why looks like it that that classic waiters tray position I’m getting more cupping in the trail wrist this is natural and it’s storing power so when you go into slinging mode hitting get into impact boom excellent impact position I’m holding this angle and then after impact boom exploding through the ball so the sling is practically built in go to the top and then sling and I focus on holding my hand against that paddle you really can’t flip because once it’s look at that it’s going to say uh no no we’re not the only thing you can do is move your arm out chicken wing it out so we keep it in it’s really you’ll feel that oh you can tell when it’s bad I’ve got it in the link in description below check it out nice little discount look on the way through you can’t it forces you just can’t you can’t flip the only way you can is if you let your elbow come out but if I sat here and I glued my elbow in I said well you can’t I mean I I won’t all you got to think about as one part of your swing now I got the elbow in I could hold this arm against my side and I’m going to have the perfect downswing every time and that’s why I love it because it’s instant feedback it’s telling me look at that it’s beautiful that’s the angle I had after it’s telling me exactly how approach the ball well this is going to interesting I really feel I’m really feeling this arm tucked [Applause] in wow that feel is amazing if you just had this feel the rest of your life that’s all you need I don’t care what it feels like I just care that I keep this against the [Applause] paddle that was awesome that one felt like nothing that was air on the club face the magic be end and what my arm now feels like it feels exactly what Precision impact said it said oh I feel like I’m wearing it right now okay we’re there there okay I I feel this paddle imaginary paddle against the back of my hand oh you there it is you you got to be kidding me every time I did an episode recently about how I was struggling with my right arm and and that’s really the make or break point for me so the arm comes out but I put that thing back on I want to take what five swings or not really I took like two or three full swings and I’m back to where I should be there’s the Precision impact molded in my hand I can feel it it’s it’s right here absolute incredible training aid okay now last thing I want to talk about you should stay around for this part so this idea the hands turning over or even the forearms turning over this is not happening the only time this happens is if I’m trying to hit a bad golf shot or really hook the Daylights out of it and if we’re hitting a big hook a big Slinger well then you’re going to see the club head be thrown out and turn over and that’s just a natural effect of swinging too much into out so I’m going to swing way into out here and I hook it eight iron like that is that is substantial that’s a big curve so if I want to hit it straight what I’m going to do is not focus on that but rather sling the club down range like this so you’re not seeing the arms and hands turn over you’re seeing this optical illusion it looks like it’s turning over but it’s not sling push aha see how you’re seeing the back of my right hand my trail hand yeah you’re seeing the back of that hand but you’re not seeing the arms turn over so I’m not actively turning the forearms I’m going to plow this through the ball wow so I’m keeping this plowed through and then I’m rehanging the club I’m not doing any unnecessary moves and that siguto golfers is a well executed golf shot one more shot of this release it’s an optical illusion don’t let it fool you I kind of paus it there just to show you where I got and then I finished isn’t that dangerous thank you Precision impact thank you you’re welcome actually Precision impact just says you’re welcome every time you swing it there is a massive torching going on out here and it’s all thanks to Ben Hogan and the simple sling technique [Applause] [Music] [Applause] 1. I had a left wrist injury, i worked at a golf course at the time, so i hit balls right handed for months. This did up my game when i was able to get both hands on the club.

  2. Hey Tom, Great video! I am a 16 year old golfer and you are one of the best golf instructors I have seen! I've been using this tip on the course with my Irons I recently got new R flex top flight irons I have to practice with because before I was using Stiff shafts with ruined my iron game a lot, but I've been getting solid contact just bad miss hits but the new iron change will help me a lot! Thanks so much for the tip Tom! Also Can this tip also work for longer Irons (Like a 3,4 or 5.) and Woods and Drivers?

  3. Tom, yet another simple, logically explained drill from your brilliant repertoire. You were born for this. Just got back from the range with ONE swing thought (after setting up Saguto-like; weight forward, right hand covering left on grip (which was huge, btw)):
GORILLA GLUED lead upper arm to upper chest. The FEEL is a dramatically shortened backswing. The TRUTH is it is not. Oh, the evil lies our brains tell us. The lead shoulder has nowhere else to go but down and towards the ball. Just need to figure out the new ball flight that kinda starts left and draws, but that's the least of my worries. This is a repeatable swing (did I just say that? Don't jinx me Golf Gods). Thank you sir.

  4. Not only did Hogan give us the rock skipping tactic. He was creator and namesake for the "Hoagie" sandwich. True story, I read it on the Internet…

  5. Tommyyyyy you should make some more course vlogs like you did in the past, I really enjoyed those! Also, could you make some videos on some short game tips? Thanks!!

  6. As someone who is right handed but a lefty golfer, this is really difficult. Throwing with your opposite hand is tough.
