hello again and welcome I’m rich learner reporting from the 106th PGA Championship at bahala golf club in Louisville Kentucky on a bizarre and tragic day early this morning just before 7:30 a.m. eastern time world number one Scotty Sheffer was arrested by Louisville Metro Police while trying to drive into the entrance of Valhalla Golf Club ahead of his second round play at the tournament had been delayed after a pedestrian was hit and killed by a shuttle bus outside the golf course causing traffic delays the PGA of America later confirmed The Pedestrian was a worker for one of the tournament’s vendors Sheffer was initially charged with second deegree assault of a police officer third deegree criminal mischief reckless driving and disregarding traffic signals from an officer directing traffic he was released from local jail at 8:40 a.m. local time and arrived back in Valhalla just under an hour before scheduled 10:08 T time shortly before teeing off Sheffer released this following statement on Instagram this morning I was proceeding as directed by police officers it was a very chaotic situation understandably so considering the tragic accident that had occurred earlier and there was a big misunderstanding of what I thought I was being asked to do I never intended to disregard any of the instructions I’m hopeful to put this to the side and focus on golf today of course all of us involved in the tournament express our deepest sympathies to the family of the man who passed away in the earlier accident this morning it truly puts everything in perspective Rex hogardt is on the grounds for us and Rex what more can you tell us rich I spoke with the police official this morning as you pointed out he was released at 8:40 it’s important to point out that he was arraigned at the police station downtown Louisville that’s about 40 45 minutes away from the golf course in traffic so that’s what took so long for him to get to the golf course official also told me he will have a court date the arraignment should happen within the next day or two but Scotty sheffler does not have to be there for that arraignment it’s important to point out of those four Chargers the second degree of salt of a police officer is the only felony in the group now I’m out front of Valhalla Golf Club right now on the street where the incident occurred and it’s important to point out it’s the only entrance into valala it’s been busy all week long but the way they have it set up is there’s a dedicated Lane for buses for offic coming into the tournament certainly for players and caddies coming into the tournament that’s the lane that theyve been using all week long that lane was closed this morning because of that accident that you talked about and that’s where the confusion started Rex what was the scene like once Scotty arrived at the club and got set to tea off for a second round surreal and chaotic I think it’s fair to say clearly his warm-up wasn’t nearly as long as it normally would be in those circumstances as a matter of fact he was showing up early this morning to get in an early workout it’s raining this morning so it wasn’t a packed house but there were plenty of people around the tea when he went off and polite Applause is how I’d say he was greeted Rex hoger reporting from Valhalla Golf Club you can visit nbcsports.com for complete coverage throughout the day live from the PGA Championship will air on Golf Channel following the completion of play this evening

  1. Sounds like the pigs are not doing their simple servant jobs as usual. Traffic pigs can’t direct traffic but they can jump on vehicles. Hmmm.

  2. Heads are going to roll. He was told to go through as all players were. Cop didn't realize he's a player and made Kentucky look like goat loving monkeys. Gov making calls. State AG making calls. State investigative bureaus making calls. Whatever agency that officer works for is now under a huge microscope. Scottie will be asked to make nice and 99.99% of the time he would but they put him in an orange jump suit and published it to the world. I think huge lawsuit incoming.

  3. According to reports the booking Officer recorded the following items from Scottie:

    One gold watch
One alligator skin wallet Master Card
    American Express Gold Card
    Visa, Diner's Club, Carte Blanche

    Two tickets…

La Bohéme, in which Scottie replied- it's an opera.

  4. Dang was going to make a joke but I just remembered all this happened due to someone needlessly losing their life. So instead of the joke I will say I’m sorry to his friends and family for their loss.

  5. HE SHOULD BE ARRESTED. ALL FATAL ACCIDENTS HAVE TO BE INVESTIGATED AND THAT MEANS THE ROAD IS SHUTDOWN FOR EVERYONE FOR AS LONG AS IT TAKES.

  6. That cop knew who he was and grabbed the car looking to fake an injury….Looking for a meal ticket…Guarantee he sues for his bullshit fake injuries

  7. He's being charged? Scotty said in his interview today it was all a big misunderstanding. 2nd degree assault of officer, 3rd degree mischief, reckless driving, disregarding traffic signals from an officer directing traffic is all a misunderstanding? Some inconsistencies for sure.

  8. They can track you now with AI technology specially after a crime scene has started flock camera systems can be used by officers why did a ununiformed officer jump onto the car?

  9. The Police Officers FABRICATED VIOLATIONS to justify their OVER REACTION in an abusive and agressive behavior…towards the pllayer and always do this to anyone even to elderly and handicaps….that is what they do all the time.

  10. Of course The Golf Channel is going to spin it as a "bizarre & tragic day" for poor Scottie L:MFAO….Imagine if this had been an NBA player or an NFL player doing the same thing

  11. Two tier justice system ! Any middleclass american is sitting in jail till at leatst Monday morning and probably takes an ass whoopin deservedly from the cops !

  12. Louisville mayor says no body cam footage available. Cop conveniently forgot to turn it on. Cops should not be allowed to turn off their body cams!
