Golf World stunned and saddened by the news yesterday that Grayson Murray had died two-time winner on the PGA tour most recently at the Sony Open in Hawaii at the time he openly shared that he had dealt with anxiety depression and alcoholism and that his Hope was that he could inspire people going forward he withdrew late in his second round on Friday at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth citing illness Murray Family releasing this statement that this morning on behalf of Grayson’s parents Eric and Terry Murray we have spent the last 24 hours trying to come to terms with the fact that our son is gone it’s surreal that we not only have to admit it to ourselves but that we also have to acknowledge it to the world it’s a nightmare we have so many questions that have no answers but one was Grayson loved the answer is yes by us his brother Cameron his sister Erica all of his extended family by his friends by his fellow players and it seems by many of you who are reading this he was loved and he will be missed we would like to thank the PGA Tour and the entire world of golf for the outpouring of support life wasn’t always easy for Grayson and although he took his own life we know he rests peacefully now please respect our privacy as we work through this incredible track tragedy and please honor Grayson by being kind to one another if that becomes his legacy we could ask for nothing more thank you Murray’s family requesting that players we black or red ribbons as a show of support during today’s Final Round Grayson W red and black on PGA Tour Sundays as a longtime fan of the Carolina Hurricanes of the National Hockey League commissioner Monahan in his state stat yesterday saying he had a conversation with Grayson’s parents and quote they asked that the tour continue with tournament play adamant that Grayson would want us to do so as difficult as it will be we want to respect their wishes end quote our condolences to his family Grayson Murray was 30 years old for
