gang this to finish up at 18 not much wind today it was blowing yesterday so uh difficult conditions yesterday this golf course this green 17 was rebuilt a couple of years ago they flattened it dramatically from what they did on the original design Ernie on the way at 18 there you go oh using the slow go in how about a two almost listen to you up to the green at 18 Mike Weir trying to finish up at 5 under he’s got his hands full with pres coming up but off to a bit of a slow start this year Todd mccor part of the corage financial team the club professionals the PGA of America Professionals in the field that’s always a special part of this field yeah I think that’s one of the cool Fe features of this event we have a chance to catch up with our old friends that work so hard day in and day out selling the game and promoting the game and uh in Dodd’s case playing the game pretty well 15th pole Terry this should be a lot of fun today the par five third shot as you can see over the water KJ Choy having himself a good day it just got a little bit better so Choy now two off that lead there we go to 11 the T mccorkel now at the short par three this hole you talk about stuff going on on the greens now that is that’s a terrific shot all right we head over to the 11th hole now the par three once again this is Mike Stone he is in the field as a result of the withdrawal of John D what a putt for stone just off the green the third for Stewart sink wow this is extremely difficult went way up top for that that’s good Choy this for birdie at 16 when is blowing that part of the of course you got a number of holes that do offer a view of Lake Michigan yeah there are three holes here that did perect it went up closer to the green the third for Justin Leonard the whole location on this green dictates your layup this pin is up on that Upper Ridge that’s good shot right there using the Ridge and the spin yeah good luck for birdie now look at the size of the greens the totality and you think oh pretty big greens but they’re not because these greens really it’s just all about the neighborhood not really the entire zip code wedge on the way for Bjorn a little left of the hole that’s a good shot this for birdie to get the one back he dropped them this opening hole in his first round [Applause] a what a there we go yeah look at that hle location doesn’t even look like it’s on the green so far left oh that’s an excellent shot and here is the 2012 Champion Roger [Applause] Chapman Chapman with the par at the 10th and that is about as close as we have seen today I don’t know if that was the intended line of play second coming up for Jerry Kelly talking to it and that’s why great shot Steven ases now only player on the PTA tour Champions with multiple wins this year chub classic and the Mitsubishi as well and a great year last year too that is a beautiful shot there good distance control over at the 13th padrick Harrington and Raj Harrington’s got he’s got issues here but it’s worth noting he does lead the PGA Tour champions in sand saves this season up and down 75% of the time well this is a deep bunker but he’s on a bit of an upslope green pitch toward him it’s really not that tough a shot other than he can’t see the area of the hole wow okay so so much for short siding himself and putting himself in a difficult position good call here Yuki feta 54y old has won 18 times in Japan it’s a tough shot long shot over the corner of the penalty area but he makes it look easy great shot but the hockey program disbanded before they ever played a single game he still passionate about the game and I got to tell you if there’s any golfer who’s got a hockey players personality it’s Jerry Kelly no no kidding no it it’s amazing how he he it’s anything sets him off how about this yikes wow well played yeah that’s how you become the champion golfer of the Year isn’t it play along the ground wow that’s a lot of those in the open absolutely indeed Terry at the par five Karen was the 2020 PGA professional Player of the Year oh great shot and this one should move to his right H coming back up against the slope here a little bit with maybe outside of that one moment in Boston in 1999 but he’s been really good with his wedges Can’t Get Enough spin on it so Justin Leonard an opportunity for yet another birdie pck and this is just a moment ago and the playing through they might have noticed Colin Montgomery go flirting with Paul Paul Lake what a shot that’s pretty good out of there here’s another player who I am surprised to see him two over yet to win out here on the champions tour but he always seems to be on the first page of the leaderboard excellent shot this going to go in that is great going to go in wow and this ball is below his feet far right hand side of the Fairway that is fine believe me when you see a ball hooking like that at 16 you hope it stays out of water just dry got to be very delicate with this one coming down the hill he his hands there right yeah you can watch the hand movement on that through the ball that was terrific back to 17 and this is unmistakably Justin Leonard in a place where he’s got to be pretty comfortable it yeah I think so little breeze against and a little bit left to right but mostly hurting there two left to the the hole pretty solid shot there really solid shot PGA Tour Champs by many many years 17 just a moment ago Terry padrick Harrington what a shot Marco Dawson T shot here at the par 3 second it’s a really cool part three again a lot of movement on this screen that is a remarkable shot hold location tight to the bunker on the right and back over 15 now this is Richard Bland for Eagle two underpar having himself a pretty good day remember no Eagles here now there are wow Bjorn and this 151 [Applause] this two a little left of the hole real good really good
