feel like I’m sweating theander for the opening round how would you assess your round today yeah um pretty solid um got off to a pretty hot start um 5 under through maybe seven or eight seven maybe um B some good puts and yeah hit some good shots and the wind seemed to pick up that that front nine for as my back nine and it was tricky um I I’d left a couple of chances out there on maybe won um seven and eight but and then obviously the little flag stick incident on the last there it’s just it is what it is and but I’m happy with 300 and uh in position to have a good week second start here but it’s kind of an entirely different course now that you’ve had a couple practice rounds in what’s the key to navigating around here yeah I actually only got nine holes uh in practice just cuz I was in Us open qualifying on Monday so flew in late um so I hadn’t seen the the back nine um so obviously to to be off to that hot start was was great um but yeah it’s I like the changes um yeah I like the golf course it’s tough you hit it in the rof and then you’ve just got to figure out how you’re going to try and make pan but if you drive it well hit it in the fairways there’s there’s a lot of chances out there with your caddy what was kind of the preparation of the back nine has he seen it either or he walked it on Wednesday morning and then we actually played the pr uh on Wednesday the back nine but obviously we got rained out so only played three holes I think so I hadn’t seen from 12 onwards um so yeah had last week off what were you doing with your off week and then uh when did you get back out here for the open qualif yeah just just hanging out with uh my family my daughter fiance um did a bit of did a bit of biking practiced a little bit um and by the time you do your laundry when you have these weeks off flying back to England it’s time to come back out so it was them off weeks for me when it’s only a week kind of fly over uh but it’s always nice to uh hang out with the family and see the little one and finally just mentioned with broadcast you’re feeling comfortable your game since bpar what are you kind of finding that’s clicking yeah I mean it’s kind of stems back to the bad play at the start of the year I was I was really letting the results affect me mentally off the golf course and I I wasn’t in a good place um wasn’t enjoying it um and but that’s not me I I love playing golf for a living um so I kind of the week I took Puerto Rico off kind of last minute and that was my reset button and since then it’s it’s been it’s been okay um but I think the the the best for me this year is Yet to Come and hopefully it’s uh it’s starting here what do you kind of do to change that mentality when you did have the reset some crazy things actually um some got out my comfort zone uh reached out to a few people and chatted to a few people and um I don’t know if it helped but I feel in a better place mentally um I’m at peace with whatever happens this year happens um and that’s how my career has been you know I’ve always just accepted good weeks bad weeks good player bad player um but for some reason at the start of the year I was just yeah my head was totally gone um and that off week I just knuckle down press the reset button and yeah I’m feeling feeling cool awesome just one for me Calum um going back to the preparation what kind of challenge is it for you when you don’t get to properly prep on on a new golf course yeah I mean obviously I played here last year missed the cut I think but the changes are different but it’s still a similar similar the C plays very similar I mean if you miss faires you’re just trying to put it in in a good position to make passs um and just kind of getting the green speeds new greens and just yeah I mean I played nine Halles on Tuesday afternoon I was absolutely shattered having flown from England and then FL from flew from New York that morning yeah but dragged myself around and got a great caddy on the bag in Sam and he we made some good notes and yeah just kind of look at the yage book and hit to certain spots and go from there perfect cheers thanks cool
