The PGA TOUR returns to Colonial Country Club this week for the Charles Schwab Challenge – the longest-running TOUR event among non-majors held annually at the same site. This is the 78th edition, but it’s the first time it’s being presented after its huge restoration over the past year. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler will be in the field this week. Scheffler recorded his 10th top-10 finish in 11 events so far in 2024 at the PGA Championship. The Texas native has also had great success here, claiming T3 and T2 in the last two years. Collin Morikawa returns fresh off a T4 at the PGA Championship. Since a T3 at the Masters six weeks ago, he’s reemerged as a persistent force with three top-10s and another two top-25s. He’s also never missed the cut at the Charles Schwab Challenge, with his highest-ever finish coming in 2020 when he finished runner-up. Texas native Jordan Spieth will also tee it up in his home state this week. He’s seen success here in previous years with a win in 2016, two second place finishes and another four top-10s. Others to look out for are Tony Finau, Max Homa, Justin Rose and Tom Kim.

slightly off the left as well good looking start here for Tony next on the team from Valencia California and he has started this left very high trying to drift it to the right but it’s hanging left back at 10 here comes a long birdie putt for Tony feno now up and over the Ridge and then should work to the right at the end look what I found look who just stole one to start the morning nice job 15th hole Tony feno and wonderful looking t-shot here for Tony right up the right side oh man covered everything what a shot I have not been his friend in the early going but this a much better looking shot here little spin walking on back solid shot there by feno well done [Applause] nice and fenale giving this one a rip and this one over the far left bunker right over the middle of it pan right that is perfect yeah he’s sending it up in the air back into the wind this on a nice line just left of the hole okay one of the better iron shots today for Tony driven the ball beautifully so Tony Cashes in and moves it to 200 maybe 10 short there is a ridge that if you land short of that it won’t let it hop up it’s pretty good right there 240 should go a little right early but might try to work toward the back of the green at the last maybe 2 or 3 ft there you go big Tony moving it to minus three nice pickup at the fourth seven iron for f now you’re going to get the hit and wait or wait and hit that’ll give us a minute to get over to the eighth swish swish Tony from long range and we’ve got another four under okay okay swanie give me the footage of putts made by feno it looked to be like he was trying to hit that little fade it’s hanging and he just took it left there did not take the water on Smart play and it’s going to be a long downhill quick putt but that’s really all he had from 97 yards come on come on ball I tell you what I thought he did it again da I did too my goodness what a great putt great speed and a fantastic opening round for Tony fow certainly is a 66 on the card for Tony phenow exceptional just one drop shot today five birdies Tony congratulations an excellent round four onun to pass we hear the word patience thrown around on a weekly basis but given the unfamiliar nature of this restored layout and the fact no one had played a single shot on it for 12 months did it require a little bit extra out there yeah you know I think it actually is easier to stay patient on a golf course that you’re just I think everybody’s a little bit of Unsure how it’s going to play so um you just kind of take a try to take a shot at a time and I think I did a good job of that today you certainly did players were talking yesterday about how the greens were pretty tricky it might be difficult to hold putts on these greens this week well you proved that wrong straight off the bat by holding a 5 56 footer off The Fringe on 10 you hold another bomb on eight almost hold another one on nine now the flat stick was working pretty well yeah it’s nice to you know you’re picking up great a handful of shots when you’re making putts like that so um you know I think I’m seeing the greens pretty well they are tricky to read um they’re not rolling the truest truest just because they are new but uh you’ll take any of those ones they go in well the t- shots uh for you today they were pretty solid you kept the ball in in play nicely Mr greens the front time but really resurrected that coming in hit some great iron shots yeah when I made the turn I thought it was really crucial putts I made for par on one and two I had seven Footers for a par on one and a SF footer for a par on two and I was able to brush those in and I thought that was this huge momentum swing for me and I birdied three and four and then just kind of roled that momentum I think all the way in just finally that horrible horseshoe notorious for its difficulty you played it in two under how do you explain that I hit quality shots you have to yeah you have to hit quality you’re not going to make birdies there from the from the rough so I hit quality shots and make quality putts and um we’ll be looking for a lot of the same on the weekend oh thanks for your time good playing and good luck the rest of the week yeah cheers thanks thanks for watching the PJ Tour on YouTube watch another video right here
